Reign - An Interactive AU by Andre / @Chryseos1 (Twitter, Not Rated, Dark Fic, Incomplete; 2020)

Neil Josten doesn’t want to be king but it doesn’t look like he has a choice - at least not until banished knight Andrew Minyard enters the scene. This interactive AU is an illustrated tale told through twitter polls - with real stakes! Characters will live and die according to the choices of its readers. Will you take part? Do you have it in you to choose?

NB: This interactive fic contains mild gore and serious violence including possible major character death due to the nature of the interactive choices.

Approximately ten thousand years ago @cygnahime tagged me to list 10 favorite characters from 10 different things, and then tag 10 people - and I promptly wrote some messy notes and forgot them in my drafts. But better late than never. Taking inspiration from you, and I tried to pick faves from various points in my life. In the vaguest of chronological orders:

Kit Kittredge from American Girl (she was a writer, I was a writer – it didn’t matter we aspired to different genres, my baby self felt the call)

Artemis Fowl, eponymous (insufferable, but consider the opening of book two when he ruthlessly saves Butler’s life)

Raistlin Majere from the Dragonlance novels (I was pretty young for these when I first read them, they might have been my first grown up fantasy; also, my most problematic fave. I would probably hate him more if I encountered him now)

Seto Kaiba from YuGiOh (lmao) (but YGO was actually the first thing I read fanfiction for, I was a small confused child on ffn, I read my first hurt/comfort fic and never looked back)

Kratos Aurelion from Tales of Symphonia (an early betrayal that wounded my innocent heart)

... I definitely had a Draco Malfoy thing going for a while (at this point it's either Harry himself or Remus Lupin)

Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean (!!!)

Leonard McCoy from TOS Star Trek & James Kirk from 2009 Star Trek (though it would be sacrilegious not to also mention every iteration of Spock by name) (here we find my original OT3)

Tyrion Lannister from ASOIF/GOT (I'm also very partial to Daenerys Targaryen)

Rey from Star Wars (I'm not a big Star Wars person - frankly I suspect the recent trilogy was more enjoyable for people who aren't Star Wars people, so I'm sorry - but I found her really delightful)

Y’all some of these are really incriminating - but I have willingly dragged myself in the name of honesty.

Story You Were Nervous to Post:

I’m always nervous! This seems to be a universal experience, at least among AFTG writers lol. I was probably most nervous about my two festival fics though (the RBB Here Comes the Sun and my current BB So Let the Stars Fall) because I didn’t want to disappoint my artists

How Do You Pick Your Titles:

Titles are the living worst. A lot of the time I just pick something stupid and obvious; sometimes it’s song lyrics, especially if the song influenced the fic; and then if I’m having no luck I beg @tntwme and @nikothespoonklepto for help

Do You Outline:

Nah, I tried but as soon as it’s written down my brain goes HA! Let’s find every possible way to deviate from that. But I’m very organized with my story in my brain so I usually know where it’s going

How Many of Your Stories are Complete:

This is a little confusing since A Mewment Like This is a series that is ongoing and that’s like...10 of my 40 fics. Of the remaining 30, all but 2 are complete!

In-Progress:

Almost done posting So Let the Stars Fall, and working on the next installment of Mewment!

Coming Soon:

I’m doing the remix/redux (yay!) and that fic is written and just waiting to be anonymously posted at the end of the month. Also in addition to Mewment, I’m working on finishing a prompt fic I got gulp 10 months ago. I also have what may end up being a Lailvarez fic, or I may turn it into an original work since we don’t really see much of Lailvarez in canon

Do You Accept Prompts:

Sometimes? I will ask for the if I’m highly stuck, and if people send me some and they grab my attention I will complete them promptly. Otherwise they may sit in that inbox for an embarrassingly long time (like, er, 10 months) until I get a chance to get to it

most popular one-shot: it’s Birds of a Feather, which was a short hidden soulmark fic I wrote for promptis week. I had a lot of fun writing it and I’m glad people enjoyed it!

most popular multi-chapter story: Divenire which makes sense as it’s my longest ongoing story. it’s my baby for sure!

favorite story you’ve written: oh man I have a really hard time choosing, I love all my stories for different reasons.

story you were nervous to post: literally all of them. I have a mini crisis every time I go to post haha then I just yeet them into the void

how do you choose titles: they’re all song lyrics, bar one or two that are sayings instead

do you outline: for longer stories absolutely, even if its just vague concepts or a few words per part. for more spur of the moment short things I tend not to.

how many of your stories are complete: 16! that’s more than I expected

how many of your stories are in progress: 5 plus some unreleased drafts I haven’t touched in a while. I try to wait until something is finished before starting new projects

coming soon: the last chapter of Love Me Tender is finished and ready to post and so is a sequel oneshot for To My Heartbeat Sound. I’ll also be able to post my Full Bloom Zine entry here soon

do you accept prompts: not currently, but I have in the past! I may again in the future depending on how I’m feeling. they’re all collected together under the title String Theory
