Thank God I choose a Freelancer way of life. I was and still am a nomad of the lens, going from niche to niche gathering all the experience I could! I didn't care what job I had to work! And no matter what, it was always a job that would further my ambitions as a Photographer. I worked at a variety of Studios and took other seasonal Jobs on the road to push the envelopes of my abilities. One thing was for certain, photography was blossoming into a full blown passion and has been ever since. Yet something I've always prided myself on is that I've never been tethered to a Press Pass or a Non-Compete! All that I accomplished was done out of sheer will and never letting anyone tell me otherwise. I've worked as a PA on the red Carpet for MTV...on a few occasions. I worked the white carpet of PDiddys Miami MTV Awards. I have been side stage to some of the biggest acts in the world. All the while finding the opportunities outside of the restrictions of a PressPass or any other type of leash. You (no one) dictates what I shoot and when I Shoot, only me..has always been my philosophy. That's the beauty of Freelance is that you work for yourself as a 3rd party vendor and what you accomplish, you do so on your own! And no, I have never worked as Papparazzi or chased anyone for the sake of capturing their image. As a Freelancer, one must always stay focused and hungry as nothing comes to you on a silver platter. But one thing is for certain, you always retain your freedom as a Photographer to go and do as you please. There are no stipulations or badges holding you back. As far as other adventures I simply let the camera take me where it will. I let the camera lead my actions and allow it to open new doors. What does that mean. Photography will always have a profound impact on my life. I will always be doing Photography in one form or another or working in the same field. If you’ve taken any time to listen to Saint Motel, you know that the band produces nothing but major bops. They’ve commandeered our dance moves time and time again with tracks like “Cold Cold Man”, “Puzzle Pieces”, “Move”, and “My Type.” The latest of these lives in their EP titled The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Pt. 1. 

I get very excited when I see a “part one” at the end of a song, EP, or album title. It indicates that there’s more to the story. It tells me that the artist intentionally gave us those four, five, or however many songs first. I totally nerd out over stuff like that. 

Pt. 1 of Saint Motel’s three-part album project contains all of my new favorite tracks: “Old Soul”, “Sisters”, “Van Horn”, “Diane Mozart”, and “Save Me.” Yeah, I love every flippin’ song on this EP! If I didn’t know any better, I’d say Saint Motel stacked Pt. 1 with their best cards. But I do know better...this album is just THAT GOOD. 

To be honest, all I really wanted to say today was that I’m in love with the western touch in “Van Horn.” I love its cowboy tint. According to the band, the song is about a wild night they experienced in Van Horn, Texas; hence the title. We’ll never know what went down in Van Horn, but all we need to know is that a cool-ass song came from it. They pair a western, underlying guitar riff with their signature use of horn instruments. Saint Motel combines their tried-and-true sounds with sounds from different decades and places. For example, “Van Horn” has western sounds, and “Sisters” has ‘50s-inspired sounds. 

In case the genius craft of their songs wasn’t enough, the live execution of their work truly sets this band apart from many. This tour had spaceships, aliens, dinosaurs, torches, mariachi bands, cowboy hats – it wasn’t just a concert. It was an experience. They brought this EP to life, and I’m ecstatic that I got to hear all of Pt. 1 live...my last concert before Covid-19. These photos are from that day, taken by my favorite concert buddy @miafortunato. She’s amazing.

Official Petition: Give Alex Jones WH Credentials, Seat Him Next to Acosta

If you love Infowars creator Alex Jones, value free speech, or just hate CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta, this little tidbit may make your day. For everyone else, the pure entertainment value alone may be enough to elicit a smile. In the aftermath of Acosta’s White House press pass being pulled then reinstated, a petition has been started to give the controversial Jones the same access to media briefings.To some, both are “showboats,” so if it is OK for Acosta to be there, there is no reason for Jones to not be there, as well. For some, their “big egos” competing for answers, attention, and headlines could turn the whole thing into a circus. But, could that also get Acosta evicted, again? Could Jones be the perfect “trigger” to rid the White House of Acosta for once and for all? The petition was posted the the White House’s official petition website. It was started by someone identified only as “T.S.” on Nov. 17. It reads simply: “Alex Jones’ first amendment rights are being violated everyday he does not have White House press credentials. THIS IS AMERICA! Let Alex Jones have press credentials and a permanent seat next to Jim Acosta!” Officially, 100,000 signatures are required for a response from the White House. By Monday morning, it had already amassed more than 40,000 signatures for the cause. The petition has already gotten attention on social media and by some media outlets. A separate and less popular petition posted on Change.org, asking for the exact same thing The Washington Times noted that the petition on the White House website will have 30 days from creation, so approximately three more weeks, to amass the requisite 100,000 signature total.
