Hello:) so i don't know if your still doing request but if not thats alright.) So I was wondering if you could do, Van helsing 2004 Dracula's bride's *Aleera Verona and Mariska with a fem reader poly relationship*, and how would they comfort there mate when they accidentally make her upset about something they said. 💗💚💛
Poly!Wives Accidentally Upsetting Their Fem!Mate HCs
Poly!Wives x Fem!Reader
TW: slight angst, slight arguments and fighting, happy ending
Tumblr media
When They Accidentally Upset You
The wives would be absolutely loving and extremely protective over their mate, they fret over you constantly. Despite that, misunderstandings tend to occur.
The only time they would ever be “mean” towards you would be if you happened to bother them at the wrong time when they were already upset about something else.
While your relationship with them is essentially perfect. Recently, however, you were starting to believe that you were the problem.
It started off with Aleera.
Aleera is the most affectionate of the wives, however, she has the most fiery temper.
This tends to happen whenever she's upset with the other wives, especially Verona.
Do not engage with her whenever she's like this, you might end up in the cross-fire. It is better to wait for her to calm down and come to you.
You happened to walk in when they were both arguing, hissing at each other with venomous words about a feeding that almost went haywire.
Marishka was simply standing there, watching them argue with a distant look in her eyes.
After a little while, Marishka was the first to leave the room, shaking her head as she did. You only continued to watch the argument and jump in to help resolve the issue.
However, when Aleera had enough, she rushed away with teary-eyes and being the caring mate that you were you wanted to comfort her since she seemed the most affected.
When you finally found her, she was pacing with tears streaming down her face with haunting sobs that seemed to echo throughout the castle.
“Aleera...” You muttered, attempting to rush over and bring her into your arms. The action only resulting in her ripping herself away and hissing loudly. The action brought a slight twinge of fear within you.
“Leave me be!” She practically hissed in your face, her eyes glowing a fluorescent lavender. “I do not wish to see the likes of you!”
Trying not to upset her more, you ran off to find Verona. The sting of her words seemed to replay on a loop in order to torment you. You have never seen her react like that towards you.
When you finally found Verona, you hesitated to even speak to her given how you were treated by Aleera
Verona is known to be the more mature one between the brides, hopefully speaking to her would be able to settle your nerves.
You were definitely wrong about that.
Verona has a tendency to vent about her troubles with the other wives and while you wanted to comfort her, it was difficult when she wouldn’t listen to what you had to say.
Verona was tenacious, and whenever she firmly believed something, it was difficult to change her mind or see the other side.
She’s not afraid to speak out on something she disagrees with, but right now it seemed like everything you said in order to comfort her were entirely wrong and unhelpful.
“I’m sure she meant nothing by it, Verona.” You uttered, watching her as she continued angrily muttering to herself. “
“She hardly listens to me!” She remarked in return. “She’s nothing more than a little brat.”
“Just give it some time. She has done well by you, you should be happy that she’s even alright.” You replied.
She sighed, shaking her head. “I’ve given her all the time we could possibly have. Find Marishka, maybe you can be of use to her.” She rolled her eyes.
The initial string from earlier only grew as you could only nod and leave the room, clutching your aching heart as you went to find Marishka.
Whenever there is conflict within the relationship, Marishka likes to keep to herself and allow the conflict to resolve itself, if she’s not already involved.
This was a previous problem and you never had to chance to discuss that her seemingly lack of caring what happens in the relationship involving arguments, makes you feel wary.
When you finally found her, she was in the courtyard of the castle, sitting on one of the stone benches and watching the night sky.
You felt a little relief, hoping that speaking with Marishka will bring some resolution in order for the conflict to settle.
She turned towards you as you took your own spot next to her and gave her a small smile. However, she didn’t return it and only looked away.
You sighed before beginning the conversation. “They’re still very upset with each other.”
“I noticed.” She replied, “They never learn and I grow tired of watching them spray venom at each other.”
“It shouldn’t be happening like this.” You remarked, gently. “I understand Aleera made a mistake but we should be grateful that she’s okay. Arguing won’t help.”
“I’ve spent centuries trying exactly what you’re doing. Let them continue acting this way, my dear.”
“If I try harder, maybe they will!” You said, turning towards her and grabbing her hand, trying to make her at least look at you. “Marishka, please.”
She sighed, snatching her hand away and giving you a small glare. “Why must you try so hard? Clearly it doesn’t work and it isn’t helping anyone!”
After that, the sting you were feeling in your heart started to feel more like a burning sensation. After spending hours trying to bring everyone together, it seemed like you did nothing but make things worse for everyone.
You sniffled, which made Marishka turn towards you with slightly widened eyes. “I’m going to retire early, goodnight.” You quickly stood, feeling the tears falling as you rushed inside the castle.
When They Comfort You
It has been a few nights since the incident and you did everything you could to avoid your mates. It was extremely hard given the intense bond you had with them but you needed time to yourself.
Since Marishka was the last person you have spoken with and witnessed you being close to tears, she was the first one to mention this to the others.
Verona and Aleera’s worriedness from not seeing you for a while only escalated and they needed to figure out what they should do.
Verona and Aleera’s argument from nights before were on the last of their minds as they worked together with Marishka to find you and understand what made you so upset that you refused to see them.
You sniffled, trying to brush away the tears that continued streaming down your face as you sat in front of your vanity.
It has been a few nights since you have seen your mates and you were extremely upset that your absence wasn’t even remotely noticed by them. It felt like a slap in the face and confirming your inner thoughts that you truly weren’t needed in the relationship.
Suddenly, the slightest creaking noise broke you out from your inner turmoil as the temperature of your room decreased significantly. You turned towards the sound, only seeing your three mates standing there, faces contorted in concern and worriedness. Taking a slight glance towards the window confirmed that they broke in through the window in order to see you.
“Darling..." Verona muttered softly, taking a few steps towards you while Marishka grasped her arm, following along.
Aleera could only stare, having the distinct feeling that she may have been the one to cause this mess.
"What are you doing here?" You whispered, brushing away your remaining tears as you stood a little straighter in your chair.
"We were so worried for you, my love." Marisha replied, "What's the matter?"
You shook your head and turned away. "It's of no importance."
Aleera took this moment to step up with her fellow brides. "Anything involving you is of importance, my love. Please, speak with us."
Taking a moment, you finally nodded before motioning towards the bed, bringing yourself to sit in the middle while your mates happily followed. They surrounded you and cuddled against you, stroking and touching your hair and arms in a sense of comfort.
"Tell us, darling." Verona requested, lighting tugging on a strand of your hair which brought a small smile on your face for a split second.
You have spent the time discussing with them everything that happened after the argument between Verona and Aleera.
The ways in which you felt that you were a useless asset to the relationship and how they made you feel like you were unhelpful and useless.
After finding out what was wrong and how they made you feel, they were extremely upset with themselves and apologized immediately.
The talk the four of you had lasted for hours but it brought a lot of rekindling within your relationship with them and each other.
After that moment, Aleera was more patient, Verona was more open to the others' opinions and Marishla was more involved with making sure the relationship went more smoothly.
Furthermore, the brides were extremely much more affectionate to make up for how they treated you that day and you were forever grateful that discussion brought about good changes within the relationship.

It’s always been a fantasy of mine to be poly w/ multiple vampire partners (like dracula & his brides, but doesn’t even have to be dracula specifically). Just imagining being the next human they bring home to toy with and feed off before eventually turning <3 anyways love your blog!!
Imagine showing up on the doorstep of a large gothic castle, pathetic, sopping wet from the raging storm that caught you off guard. the place is clearly haunted, or at the very least, creepy as hell, but you have no other choice, nowhere else to go.
You're surprised when the man of the house opens the door for you instead of a butter or maid, but he invites you in to spend the night in his home with all the warmth and charm of a snake. You know something's wrong, you know you're a foolish little mouse, but what other choice do you have?
He insists you strip out of your wet clothes to let them dry and lets you warm up by the fire, he doesn't give you anything dry to change into so you awkwardly stand naked in front of the roaring fire, drying your hair and debating if it would be rude to rip down one of the grand tapestries to wrap around yourself when you hear a squeal of delight, you whirl around but no one's there.
Then, in a flash, there are three someone standing in the doorway to the room you're in, three beautiful women, all with ashy skin and blood-red eyes that stare at you hungrily. More snakes to come flick their forked tongues at the frightened mouse.
"Oh, you were telling the truth- a new toy to play with," one says.
"Told you, a pretty little thing all naked and ready for us, just waiting to be ripped apart," another says, clapping her hands together excitedly.
"Master didn't tell us about this one, maybe he wants them for himself, perhaps it would be wise to ask for permission," the third ponders. There is a flash of lightning through a nearby window momentarily blinding you, when your vision returns the man who let you in is there smiling.
"no my deers, go right ahead, have your fun," he insists, as if he'd been listening to the conversation the whole time. The three women pounce on you, even though they might appear frail and petite they are strong, much stronger than a pathetic little thing like you.
For the most part, the man of the house watches as his wives have their way with you, but the second blood is spilled he's on you too, taking his turn to break in the new toy. Even with four vampires biting and drinking from you, they won't kill you, that would spoil the fun after all and who knows. it might be more fun to keep you around for a long long, time

Universal Monsters + Fuckability
Tumblr media
Qualifications (choosing movies)
I have seen the movie.
Characters listed as part of the Universal Monsters lineup (Phantom of the Opera from 1925 for example is not included.)
Personality and events of film considered just as much as physical attractiveness.
Tumblr media
[ID: Picture of Bela Lugosi as Dracula, dressed in black clothes and a cape, staring at the camera with an annoyed expression. His face is slightly in the shadows. End id]
Dracula (1931)
Bela Lugosi kinda handsome
Vampires hot
Rich.
Has three wives (dick is good) (plus you can hang out with wives)
Hypnosis
Loses points because the movie was boring and he kills Lucy Westron, poly icon (antifeminist)
7/10
Tumblr media
[ID: image of Boris Karloff as Frankenstein, holding his hands to his face, looking offscreen and with a disturbed expression. The lighting only lights up his face. End ID]
Frankenstein (1931)
Literally just born (minor) and doesn’t understand sex
Movie diverged too much from the book for me to like it
Too awkward and big
Unclear if he has any genitalia at all
1/10 because this image is cool and a little sexy
Tumblr media
[ID: Boris Karloff as Imhotep the mummy. His skin is dried and sunken in. He's glaring at something offscreen. He's dressed in a high collar brown shirt and a cap that covers the top of his head. End ID]
The Mummy (1932)
One of my faves
Backstory is centered around LOVE - will literally curse the gods and forsake everyone for his lover. Hot.
The opening scene where he came awake for the first time was sexy.
Anti colonialist
Hypnosis
Nice voice
Loses points for unfortunately not being very attractive - dry skin
9/10
Tumblr media
[No image for this slide]
The Invisible Man (1933)
Wanted to take over the world and went to his best friend and not his FIANCE??? Gay, and clearly doesn’t care about lover’s needs (even with said best friend).
Not a monster, just an asshole
Pushed over a baby carriage! Disgusting
We don’t know what he looks like. Sexiness only comes from whether or not you think having sex with someone you can’t see would be hot or not.
Gets points for being a silly little guy, ambition being hot, and the “villain goes soft only for his loved one” trope
Still. -5/10
Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Tumblr media
Like Frankenstein, Literally just born (minor) and doesn’t understand sex
Also had strong reaction AGAINST being an object of desire and so ranking her is missing the point
However because she’s the ONLY woman on this list she gets special privileges.
will be ranking her as if she was not literally ten minutes old and if she understood sex
Tumblr media
[ID: Elsa Lanchester as the bride of Frankenstein. The lighting of the image is very bright, so you can see her whole upper body with very few shadows. She's staring at something offscreen with a curious but frightened expression. She wears white robes, and her hair is black with a white streak up the sides, in a beehive style. End ID]
Bride of Frankenstein (1935) (cont.)
Horror movie scream A+
Gorgeous and Iconic
Understands No Means No. (Unlike other creatures on this list)
Baby Girl you are SO unnerving 💖💖💖
Tall Woman. Probably strong.
10/10.
Tumblr media
[ID: Two images of the wolf man. One is the wolf man as the wolf man, standing in thr woods, his face covered in fur, his hands furry and clawed, looking panicked. The second is Lon Cheney Jr. as Larry Talbot, a white man with short dark hair slicked back, dressed in a suit with a plaid tie, with a stressed out look on his face. End ID]
The Wolf Man (1941)
This movie just makes me sad. Larry Talbot is a tragic figure.
But he’s also kind of a stalker (spies on woman)
Only a monster half of the time
Wolf form isn’t attractive. (human form okay.)
No sense of control.
Not even a little okay with his murders. Too pathetic and sad.
2/10
Tumblr media
[ID: Image of the creature from the black lagoon, a creature the size of a man covered in scaley and amphibian-like skin with a fish-like face. He's mostly submerged in water, only his head and finned hands with sharp claws poking out of the water. End ID]
The Creature From The Black Lagoon (1954)
Definitely my favourite
Environmentalist! Anti colonialist!
Swimming scene half creepy half romantic, also gets points for inspiring The Shape of Water (2017).
Phenomenal creature design, A+.
Just wants someone to love
Will kill everyone else but NOT lover.
Underwater sex. Rough sex.
Sex will probably be awkward because of this.
8/10
Tumblr media
[ID: profile of the Bride of Frankenstein. Her head is tiled up and her eyes are mostly closed.]
Congratulations to our winner! Runner ups, The Mummy and the Creature From the Black Lagoon.

Oh my Rogue....vampire Dream and you have to prove your devotion to him so you have to yknow put a stake through your ejart whatever and hmggg yeah okay I'm so glad you watched The Invitation it was a very interesting concept
‘What am I without you?’ You held the stake to your heart slowly pressing it into your chest. It just pierced your skin letting the unnaturally dark red bubble up and down your shirt.
Dream slowly wrapped his fingers around your wrist. His nails, sharpened to a point, scraped the inside of your wrist. ‘You are more than you know. You are far kinder than me, and you deserve better.’
He had to let you go. He made a monster of you, and destroyed what few beauty was left in the world.
‘This love it will pass,” he continued, and lowered the stake from your heart. ‘I am not worth any of this.’
Ahhhh!!! I took this somewhere else but it just all tumbled out of my brain 😫 I need vampire!dream in my life
Also if you liked the invitation I totally recommend the book ‘a blood of dowry’ by st gibbson! It was a similar same concept but with 2 wives and husband (instead of three wives) and poly love all around of course the ending is still Dracula being stabbed but by all three spouses to stop him

(Ask the gang) In the original Dracula novel, Dracula had three brides. Do vampires generally form poly relationships or was that just a Dracula thing? Does your vampire plan to have multiple wives?
"Dracula was just, casually, polymerous."
[the vampire is holding hands/cuddling with the gang]
"I don't see it as a vampire specific thing. could depend on the person, you know?"

Hey broski, just curious if you'd be willing to be a vampire's immortal wife. Like I don't mean any of that Twilight stuff, I'm talking Dracula where he seduces you and you slowly succumb to his charms, and after you turn you are loyal to him and may or may not have a lesbian relationship with one of his wives like Mina and Lucy.

2023 Book Reviews: Fantasy, Part 1
I have by far the most books I'm classing as fantasy for these reviews, so you'll be seeing a lot of them! (You could argue that a few of these are fantasy romances, but I think these ones lean more on fantasy than they do on romance.) I quite enjoyed a lot of these, especially Even Though I Knew the End, although it also broke my heart </3
1. A Dowry of Blood by S. T. Gibson: 4.5/5
Pitch: the story of Dracula's 'wives', if they knew it was abusive (poly & queer)
Review: This book is only about vampires in the way that The Old Man in the Sea is about fishermen - vampires might be the medium through which the story is told, but the heart of the story is about abusive relationships and how they affect you and the people that you love. That isn't to say that I found the vampire angle frustrating, or distracting - I thought it was quite well done - but if you're looking for a fun story about vampires, I don't think this is the right place to come. As far as the story itself, I thought the characters were vivid, the prose was excellent, and the historical details were a fun dressing on top of a well-told and heartbreaking story.
2. Even Though I Knew the End by C. L. Polk: 4.75/5
Pitch: sapphic detective noir in an alternate Chicago with angels & demons
Review: I loved this book but it also broke my heart. It's perfectly paced as a novella, with characters and a setting that are so vivid that you immediately love them and are invested in them. The plot was the perfect size for it, and mostly I loved everything about this book, except that it broke my heart. I wasn't really looking for heartbreak in a book, and even though maybe I should have expected it from the noir aspect, I wasn't ready for it. It is absolutely going to stick with me, though, and if you're in the mood for a book with some heartbreak, I think it's brilliant.
3. The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden: 4.25/5
Pitch: #2 in a trilogy set in historical Russia with gods, politics, and a very headstrong female MC
Review: I definitely enjoyed this, although coming into it after it had been like 5 years since I read the previous book meant that I was very confused for a while, since it wasn't really something that the author left hints about at the beginning of this book. I started caring more in Part 2, and then pretty much read through the rest of it all in one go. Still enjoy Vasya quite a bit, and I'm very intrigued to see where it goes next!
4. The World We Make by N. K. Jemisin: 4.25/5
Pitch: what if cities were people? what if those people also had to fight an indefinable cosmic horror? final book of a duology
Review: A fun conclusion to N.K. Jemisin's Great Cities duology, but there were parts of it that felt quite rushed or anticlimactic (like the ending) and parts that just didn't land for me (like the romance between Neek and Manny). She talks in her author's note about the decision to cut this series down from a trilogy to a duology, and I totally understand and respect those choices, but I also think that the book suffers some as a result. It's still fun though, and an interesting world, so I enjoyed my time in the story.
5. Witch Hat Atelier, Vol. 10 by Kamome Shirahama: 4.75/5
Pitch: #10 of a fantasy manga about a girl who becomes a witch to un-curse her mom, while dealing with evil witches who want her to use magic recklessly
Review: Honestly I loved this volume - the tension is really ratcheting up, and there's a bunch of plot threads all coming together, and the next volume promises to bring it all to a head. I'm excited!!!

Hi Del! I know you said you’re stepping away from the 1D fandom but I thought of the perfect darkish au because I was watching van helsing. But this one is where harry is Dracula and he has a like 5 wives/husbands and Louis is the main one of course and they go around plundering villages and all that jazz. I think I just like picturing Louis as a hot vampire in sexy outfits but make it dark
ooooh well I DO think this is a very fun au. I've been really into harems/poly/why choose aus so I love the idea of a vampire with a bunch of partners and then ofc their first one is their main partner and they're the powerful couple leading their sexy vampire family 🥰

You know how almost every adaptation of Dracula seems to ships him with Mina, right?
You know how Dracula has some homoerotic subtext with Jonathan dating back to the original book and, now that BBC series basically queerbaited us all with it to then punch us in the face, there’s people in the fandom shipping them as Murder Husbands?
Those things are good and all, but.. Hear me out, please... Dracula, Mina and Jonathan as a Murder Triad.

Apparently all I needed to put me back in full 'need to post 20 times a day about Nandermo' territory is some poly shit. Like Guillermo is definitely not about that life or above feeling jealousy, and I don’t want our boy to be one spouse out of many anyway, he’s waited long enough for Nandor to be open with his affections. But with his unexpected coffin trip, he's had a year of distance to date around and think he's gotten over everything: vampirism, Nandor, vampirism as a code for his repressed feelings for Nandor... (inevitable leak-based stuff under the cut)
So imagine Guillermo thinking he's so totally cool with this 'bring my wives back' thing. Meanwhile these people who’ve been randomly resurrected, hundreds of years later, want to know if he's the new wife number 38 or 245 or however many Nandor clearly has acquired by now. But oh wait, Guillermo is his friend? He never had one of those before. The last friend he had was a horse.
Imagine Guillermo actually really liking some of them!  He’s never been friends with people who have such a huge thing in common with him, the familiar mixers are too sad for that and he’s been the closest thing to Nandor’s (very patriarchal version of a) wife for a decade. Imagine them having little dishy luncheons to gossip and (mostly affectionately) make fun of Nandor, only for him to very earnestly defend his master from anything too mean, since he’s still smitten despite himself but only a few of Nandor’s wives actually loved him. Which just turns the conversation into like a dozen versions of Cloak of Duplication 2.0.
Imagine Nandor's wives wondering why the hell Nandor hasn't snatched that nice ass up yet, it's super rude of him not to offer after all this time, it’s not like he’s picky - he married that one dude because he had a cool mustache and a big dick. It’s not like he has a secondary harem for Guillermo to be in instead, what’s the fucking holdup? Half a dozen of them earnestly asking Nandor, who stammers something about how doing that stuff in the workplace is frowned on these days, never mind that he definitely burned half these people’s villages to the ground.
Imagine Nandor gritting something out about so, Guillermo, Dracula had a bunch of vampire wives and no one really gives a shit even if America’s weird about bigamy, you just need to have like one of them on the papers... “37 is too much these days, it’s a little tacky, but maybe three is a nice round number? You and [whichever one he hunts down] get along, right? So after I make you a vampire...if you don’t have any big plans...I’m really good at sex if that’s what you’re worried about, so-” while Guillermo just stares at him like his brain is still trying to catch up to whatever is happening right now.
I could get like ten percent of the possible scenarios here and die happy, seriously.

In the monster AU, do all the monsters (and their families if they have one) live together? Or do they all live separately but just keep in touch with one another?
Oh, nah, they don’t all live in one place; they do try to keep in touch with some of the others and sometimes get together to catch up on stuff for a short amount of time (usually at some place that Dracula owns), but they all like to have their own space.
So, this may take a while to explain, but…
Dracula and his wives live in his castle, though sometimes they travel outside the country to other places (Dracula met all of his partners– both past and present– while traveling). Usually this is the place where the other monsters will meet up once in a while (Rei has her own room set up there even).
Lucy Westenra (alive and unfortunately for her still a vampire) lives in Dracula’s English home with Rei (Phantom 1.0) living in the basement. Sometimes Marya visits them.
Marya Zaleska herself mostly lives on her own, sometimes visiting Carmilla (who’s… an ally but not officially part of the group due to her own reasons), sometimes visiting Rei and Lucy, rarely visiting Dracula’s castle (only when there’s plenty of non-family members around).
Alucard lives in his own place in America, far away from the family drama. Gill (the Creature from the Black Lagoon) lives with him since his place has a big enough watery area for them to live comfortably in.
Victor Frankenstein and his family live in their own castle. The monsters he either created or inspired others to create live in a private area on his property not far away. There’s another monster, Dan McCormick (a man someone had tried to turn into his own mindless creature via a machine that uses electricity to alter someone), who goes between living with the Frankensteins and the monsters that don’t live far from them, as he’s not quite capable of living on his own (yet) and Victor is trying to assist him with his problem.
Phyllis Allenby comes from a family wealthy enough to have their own manor, where she lives with her partners Paula and Barry and their adopted son Larry. Her cousin Carol and Carol’s husband Dwight also live there.
Jack Griffin lives with his partners Flora Cranley and Arthur Kemp (and later his and Flora’s child Jamie) on their own, though not too terribly far away from Henry Jekyll and Rosemary Carew, who live in their own place in England.
The Invisible Poly Square (Geoffrey Radcliffe, Helen Manson, Kitty Carroll and Frank Griffin) live on their own with their kids.
Erique Claudin usually lives with/near Basil Hallward, sometimes going between visiting Carmen and Winslow.
Carmen/Phantasia has her own apartment with a room for Winslow whenever he stays over.
Lisa Moya goes between living with/close to Ardeth and living with Alucard.
Malla (an immortal of sorts) rarely stays in one place for very long lest someone catch on to them.
Jimmy Flanders (a college freshman who ended up becoming a werecreature of sorts by accident) has his own apartment, but often stays with whichever scientist monster/ally has agreed to take him in as an intern.
Zenobia, her adopted daughter Stephanie, and her mutant pet spider Taran, all live somewhere far off and fairly isolated.
Andre Delambre and Hal Moffet (a man with a rare disease who’d been treated poorly more than once) are two monsters that go between staying with different monsters from time to time.
Cait and I hadn’t fully discussed this yet before you sent this ask, and this was a nice opportunity to talk it over with one another. Thank you so much for asking!

Hier Kommt Die Sonne [Prologue]
Van Helsing x The Lost Boys Crossover
Pairing: Poly!Lost Boys x G/n!Reader, Count Dracula x G/n!Reader (Platonic), Dracula's Wives x G/n!Reader (Platonic)
Summary: In an alternate universe as Count Dracula's only heir, you have finally come of age to choose your mate at your own masquerade ball. Well, it's discovered that you may have more than one.
TW: slight movie spoilers, slight gore involving death
A/N: This fic follows the same timeline as the Van Helsing (2004) film, however occurring in an alternate universe where Dracula's goal to bring his children to life doesn't occur but is mentioned. Reblogs are highly appreciated!
Tumblr media
1887
On this particular night, this was the exact moment in which he felt like an utter failure for the first time in his immortal life.
Throughout his previous life centuries ago prior to making his deal with the devil, Vladislaus Dracula always been known as a cunning and devious creature that has transferred into his immortalized being.
Therefore, with the vast knowledge that he picked up over the centuries, he believed that he would have predicted all odds against him and that would be his downfall. His downfall that would involuntary affect his brides.
He could still hear their haunting cries when he finally uncovered the destroyed corpse of Frankenstein's monster under the rubble of the windmill. The Holy Bible was desperately clutched in the monster's rotten grasp, covered in blackened soot and pages threatening to waste away.
Dracula never regretted the things he's done throughout his existence. However, he felt immense guilt for killing the doctor. The miscalculation that resulted in their only chance of bringing their unborn children to life was diminished.
"How could you?!"
The deep anguish in Aleera's voice directed towards him was too much to bear. With a frustrated hiss and voice full of misdirected venom, he ordered his wives to return home, safely.
The last thing he needed was to lose his brides too.
It was the last thing he remembered before he transformed into his bat-form and vanished into the night. It was a desperate act to get away, clear his mind and settle the unrecognizable feeling in his chest. Without much thought, he managed to find himself in the woods.
The woods was completely shrouded in darkness, the soft glow of the moon being an only source of light to guide his way through the stretch of wood and overgrown forestry. Not that he even remotely needed it, given that his vampire abilities allowed him to navigate better than any living creature.
He walked through the thicket, following hidden paths that led him deeper and deeper. His mind was racing, replaying his wives devastating screams and he felt another unfamiliar pang in his ribcage.
He paused in confusion, touching the material covering his chest where his undead heart lay dormant. What could have brought this sudden pain in his chest?
"This feeling..." His mind suddenly conjured. "This feeling is...?"
It made perfect sense now. The unfamiliar feeling that was making his chest hurt when he thought about his saddened brides and his dead children that never would experience life.
He was feeling sadness.
The hollowness he as always felt during his existence has always been his companion. His wives only offering some amount of relief yet he couldn't deny the lack of emotion he held for many centuries.
He cared for his brides truly, enough that he wanted to have children with them. He would never admit this, not even to the devil himself, but he hoped that his children would give him that sense of fullness that he's been searching for. Yet, it wouldn't come to pass.
Now he will remain this way forever.
Suddenly, distant screams alerted the vampire as he stood ridged. His pupils dilated as he searched through the darkened trees and thick brush for the source. Dracula was never scared, however he was territorial and this was his land.
He concentrated more and discovered the source was miles away yet still reachable if he wanted to transform into his bat-form and confront the potential threat. As quick as the screams appeared, they were distinguished. Yet, only one thing was brought to his attention that made his fangs ache.
The fresh smell of blood.
With a growl, he quickly transformed. The sound of flesh expanding and bones shifting, he was in the air, heading towards the direction the blood was coming from.
In a mere few minutes, the vampire landed onto the forest floor, returning to his human form as he took in what he was witnessing.
There was a cabin that appeared to be broken into or attacked by a deadly storm. The windows were completely destroyed and the door ripped from its hinges, claw marks decorating the wood in a destructive pattern. Perhaps, he could find a meal before he returned home to his brides.
Ever cautious, he walked inside the cabin, eyes quickly adjusting to room shrouded in black. He already found the first victim, a male leaned against the wall near the door with his jugular ripped out. The furniture was completely destroyed and ripped apart and he followed the scent of blood towards the kitchen area.
There, he discovered what appeared to be the man's bride. Her lifeless body laying on her stomach with her arm outstretched, reaching towards the cabinet that seemed unbothered. Her jugular was also missing.
Dracula sighed, already knowing this was caused by a ravenous vampire. He lost his appetite, already knowing that he will be stressed the next few weeks until he hunted that vampire down and killed it. Nobody was allowed to hunt on his land.
He turned to walk away, however he stopped when he heard small whimpers coming from the cabinet. He quickly turned back and carelessly pushed the woman out of his way as he lowered himself to face the cabinet.
Slowly, he opened the cabinet and what he discovered inside made him feel like his undead heart skipped a beat. Which he thought was impossible.
It was a newborn. You.
You laid there in a small basket of bread that was cushioning you. Your small whimpers and trembling lip made something inside the vampire snap. He felt something in his chest.
A paternal instinct.
He reached out for you before pulling away slightly, a little cautious that he could potentially hurt you on accident. However, your escalating cries and appearance of tears made him quickly change his mind.
He carefully wiped a few tears away, hushing you softly. Quickly yet carefully, he reached in and picked you up, cradling you to his chest as he brought himself back into a standing position.
He pulled away slightly, looking down towards you. Your cries have returned to only being whimpers but the vampire still felt the need to comfort you, a smile would suit you much better.
Staring at you a little bit longer, his pupils dilated making his eyes appear to be darker than black. He was suddenly hit with a wave of intense emotions. The absolute need to protect, nurture, and care for you.
Was this love? A paternal love one would feel for their child that he's heard many times? Yes, it was.
A smile slowly worked onto his face, his earlier sadness and guilt washing away the longer he watched you.
"It's okay..." He muttered, voice deep and thick with a Romanian accent. "You're safe now." He rocked you a little, a little out of his element but it still felt natural.
Your whimpers began to cease and a sigh escaped you as you settled down against his chest. Instantly, his mind was already made up, you were his. His child to love and cherish for as long as he was immortal.
A small sneeze broke the silence and successfully brought him from his trance and he looked down at you. He stared in confusion as he slowly brought his knuckle to feel your cheek. He could feel the slight chill that began to rival his own the longer he held you in his arms. He knew he was a creature that lacked warmth, however he knew he couldn't risk you getting sick.
Effortlessly, he maneuvered you in his arms to remove his overcoat, wrapping it around you to bring you a sense of warmth.
"Come," He whispered softly, his smile returning on his face as he walked towards the entryway. "You must meet your new mothers."
This night, Count Vladislaus Dracula felt for once in his immortal life completely and utterly full.
"My Sun."
