Been seeing this DonSagi ship around and I gotta say, because I automatically think a ship with Sagi is of TMNT 2003, those two certainly had a memorable meet-cute with Don accusing Usagi of harming his brother.

This led me to this TMNT 2003 DonSagi setup

- Leo and Usagi are bff. Even if they act fruity it's just how they are, its completely platonic.

- Usagi visited Leo several times and started to really know each brother - including gentle Donnie, who will fight if he has to and for his family but prefers pacifism.

- Leo will brag about his brothers at the drop of a hat and Usagi always perks up when Donnie comes up.

- Usagi admits his crush on Donnie to Leo stiffly, unsure how the protective leader would react to it. Leo's only hesitance about it was on how Donnie might not feel the same and how it might hurt them if it didn’t work out.

- Usagi didn't ask Splinter's permission for courting beforehand because Leo suggested to wait to see whether his brother would be interested first. Diminish the amount of awkwardness all around. Just in case.

- While those two are scheming on how to get Donnie's attention without the whole ninja family nosing in, said family literally thinks those two (Leo and Usagi) are dating in secret. Mikey already has most of the wedding planned, Raph and Casey have their shovel talks ready and rehearsed and poor Donnie is angsting over having a crush on his brother’s "soulmate".

- Splinter thought LeoSagi was the end goal too but his telenovela instincts are tingling so he decided to wait and see. Besides, he knows Usagi, the rabbit would ask his permission before dating his son.

- April is the one who discovers about Donnie’s crush and is extremely sympathetic. She's also a bit suspicious about this sure relationship the rest of the family has fabricated so she manages to get Leo alone and subtly ask about it.

- I need you to imagine the most baffled look on a mutant turtle's face as Leo registers the question. Obviously he isn't in a relationship with Usagi??? Where did she get that idea??? (the swords exchange, the way you greet each other? she almost says)

- Eventually Leo blurts out Usagi likes Donnie to April.

- April's ecstatic and decides to not spill the beans about the mutual crush, instead joining in the increasingly elaborate scheming.

- And by joining in I mean wrangling the teenagers into a simple and direct plan instead of complex 20 steps or more as Usagi was planning.

- Donnie is very much sad and trying to not be in the same room as Usagi because he doesn't want to get in the way of his brother's relationship and it hurts :( also bc drama

- This makes it exceedingly difficult for any of the plans to succeed so of course it has to be an unplanned confession in a chaotic saving the world situation.

- Donnie's bafflement and asking about the supposed romanting LeoSagi gets him two twin baffled looks.

- Mikey and Raph join in with very confused "but weren't you two together????"

- Leo decides to take those two away so Donnie and Usagi could talk. Also he needs to lecture two turtles about assumptions.

- DonSagi get together... once Usagi gets Splinter's blessing and shovel talk.

Fic title: Fireworks or Sparklers

Maybe a Leosagi fic about big feeling vs small feelings (romance vs platonic???)

Leo doubting his own feelings because how could he possibly be in love/fall in love at first sight. That’s silly ( cause he is such a skeptic when it comes to that sort of thing and ngl he’s the most visibly not into romance out of all of them)

Meanwhile Yuichi is chatting to all his friends/anyone who will listen about his crush on leo ( that's just a sub plot tho)

Mostly a fic about romance and platonic feelings and trying to differentiate the two!

I wrote a little blurb but it's missing something?? Idk but I hope you enjoy it nonethless cause I just kinda let myself type whatever lol

I definitely think the climax of the fic would be Leo overexplaining his feelings and Yuichi being like ' dude it sounds like you have a crush on me' or something along those lines. Also most of the fic would just be Leo talking about his feelings as if they were a book/fic he was reading and Mikey listening like ' oh he is dumb of ass' and knowing Leo is talking about himself lmao. Leo knows he can't talk about it with Donnie cause Donnie has read all the fics he's read so it wouldn't work on him LOL

Leo was never one for romance plots. It was just too hard to believe - things like love at first sight and wanting to be around someone so much that you could call it love. Don’t get him wrong, he’s had crushes before. But they were miniscule compared to what every single fanfic and Hallmark movie described. He was hesitant to call them crushes at all, considering most of them were on fictional characters.

So he wasn’t sure what to call his feelings for Yuichi.

It was something like wanting to hang out with him all the time, wanting to tell him things he’d never tell anyone. Then again, they…kind of did that anyway. Because they were best friends and those were…normal best friend activities! And so was holding hands. There was nothing romantic about holding hands, that was for sure.

hahaha i'll just go down the list of what u mentioned here so i can maintain some self control LMFAO, but BEFORE i begin:

would like to mention that leosagi r BEST FRIENDS before they ever start a relationship in my au (which takes place a good couple yrs down the road, like late teens/early twenties. maybe even longer. i'm still debating lol) i really value platonic relationships and i guess i'm projecting but i really wanted to explore this aspect on these two cause i feel like it really fits !!!

leo was recently instated as the new leader and he's struggling under the pressure and expectations, he's having a hard time at home with the weird vibes between him and raph and splinter, he and raph r arguing a lot more, he never wants to be at home, they're all still recovering a little bit from the shredder incident and trying to make their new lair feel like how everything used to be, leo just wants things to go back to normal, etc etc. guy is not having a good time.

usagi is also struggling between three jobs and having no one to rely on. he is COMPLETELY ALONE, and has been for a while now, and at this point he's just accepted it and rolls with the punches. he is visibly a miserable guy. he doesn't have family or friends to turn to considering he's basically disgraced from his clan (not that he really wanted to stay anyway, more will be explained later HAHAHA), he's not doing well mentally either, and he's trying to stay afloat in a foreign city that he's still learning to actually live in. he's not good at relying on other people and always expects strings to be attached when it comes to people trying to look out for him, etc etc. both he and leo r not doing well.

while i admit the love at first sight is cute, that's not the road i wanted to take with them. what they both really need more than a relationship is a friend, and i think they would both find that friend in each other. i think they would be absolute menaces at their worst but also be capable of bringing out the best in each other. they r the besties ever !!!!

okay with that out of the way i am ACTUALLY going to answer ur ask now lmfao.

WHAT DO THEY LIKE MOST ABOUT EACH OTHER?

im only going to do a few qualities otherwise i will be here FOR HOURSSSS HAHAHA

USAGI:

- leo recognizes that usagi isn't one to beat around the bush, especially when it comes to telling him how he feels. he's blunt, but not generally in a mean way (usually lmfao). he tells leo what he needs to hear, even if leo in particular doesn't WANT to hear it. usagi doesn't lie to him, or ever make promises he can't keep, but he also doesn't BREAK promises that he makes. leo really appreciates that about him.

- usagi hasn't known leo his whole life, and so he doesn't have the same issue as his brothers with giving leo casual praise. yes, usagi is very much going to be the first person to call leo a gigantic dumbass, but he's also going to recognize leo is talented and calculated and very capable of being cunning when he isn't being a fool LMFAO. i think having someone that has faith in his abilities most of the time would really help settle some of leo's inferiority/superiority complex issues, especially from someone that is essentially a clean slate and doesn't have huge expectations of what they already know about leo. i think this would start leo's journey into being more self-assured, since usagi has been there to tell him what he needs to hear from the very start of their friendship. leo can always count on usagi to have his back when he's feeling down about himself :)

- usagi is actually very hilarious. leo didn't see it much when they were first getting to know each other but usagi makes the MOST out of pocket comments and jokes all the time with a completely straight face and it cracks leo up. usagi starts being a lot more silly with leo once they've been around each other more and his humor starts showing through. also usagi is like the only person in the world that will laugh at leo's awful puns. usagi recognizes they're awful and he KNOWS they r so so awful but he can't help but laugh bc leo's delivery is so good. the first time leo makes usagi laugh he goes out of his way to make him do it again bc usagi has a really contagious laugh and he wants to hear it more !!! usagi deserves to laugh. they actually bond a lot over their inside jokes and humor lol

LEO:

- no one has ever tried to be so persistent in being usagi's friend. like, an actual friend who genuinely cares about him and just wants him to be less miserable and goes out of their way to spend time with him bc they think he's COOL and someone fun to be around. usagi didn't appreciate it at first (he thought leo was trying to make fun of him/just trying to be a nuisance) but then he realizes that leo is just like. a good person. under all the bravado and jokes and bad puns he's someone that cares and doesn't expect anything from it and usagi wants to meet leo halfway and show that he cares too. leo is essentially his first friend and first BEST FRIEND and he has no way to articulate how much he appreciates leo and the olive branch he gave him so he tries to show it as often as he can instead.

- leo also goes out of his way to spend time with usagi, whether that be between his shifts at work or literally sitting in the place of business until usagi gets off. it starts off as leo just not wanting to be home but then it's genuinely just him trying to spend as much time with usagi as possible before he has to work again (which is basically all the time.) they never run out of things to talk about, and when usagi is too drained to actually hold a conversation leo can fill the silence for literal HOURS and usagi never gets tired of it bc he likes to listen to leo talk, and leo doesn't feel like he's annoying or anything. they can also exist in silence with each other and just enjoy the other's presence. it's never awkward and it's just really natural for them both!

- usagi hasnt really had someone like . worry about his well-being in a long time and so leo constantly being up in his business asking him if he's gotten enough sleep/if he's feeling okay takes a lot to get used to. it grated his nerves at first but then leo explained that usagi always seems so sad and downright depressed and he always asks if there's something that he can do to make him feel a little better. leo doesn't really motherhen him which usagi appreciates also; he acknowledges that usagi isn't feeling great and will try to do something to make him feel better but he backs off bc he knows how annoying it is when people won't listen to how much u DONT want to talk about it (looking at u very lovingly rn raph ❤️ ur trying ur best). usagi also does the same for leo, they only push each other to talk when they REALLY think the other needs an intervention haha.

OTHERS:

- they do the thing where if they get food, often times the other likes whatever part they don't. usagi doesn't like salami and whatnot on his pizza so he'll pick it off and let leo eat it; leo doesn't like the crunchy parts on crab ragoon so he'll eat the middle then let usagi eat whatever's left etc lol.

- they'll do the thing where it's like "this made me think of u" and they get it for the other, like knick knacks and little food types of stuff. they make it a competition to who can get the coolest knick knack for the other LOL

- they r both really really impressed with how talented the other is. usagi is traditionally trained and it SHOWS, he often times wins their spars and he's very very skilled and leo thinks he's so fucking cool bc he's so nonchalant about it. like usagi just did the sickest move and he's like "damn. that was crazy." and leo is like 🤯🤯🤯🤯 leo is cunning and strategic and usagi is pretty impressed (and it's hard to impress this guy !!!!) with how inventive he is on his feet, and how fast he can assess a situation just by vibes alone. leo also thinks outside the box a lot and his style of fighting is really cool to usagi; they both just think the other is the coolest HAHA.

WHAT DO THEY DO?

i already mentioned that leo goes out of his way to spend time with usagi whenever he's free, and even when he's not leo is usually right at his hip lmfao. they both go to different areas of the hidden city and hang out mostly, they do the "bro showed me a spot" and try to see who can find the coolest spot to hang out in HAHAHA. they spar and talk and joke around and share food. normal friend stuff.

sometimes usagi takes a nap bc he's so exhausted tho and leo just hangs around on his phone with him. whenever usagi is free is when they actually get to do the fun stuff; they get into deep shit sometimes in the hidden city and that's usually a fuckin time lmfao.

usagi luvsss music tho but he doesn't really have time to search for stuff on his own, so leo always shows up with music recommendations whenever they have time and exchange different songs back and forth. would like to mention usagi LOVESSS BABYMETAL and gets leo into them as a result hahaha. BABYMETAL NEVER MISSES ‼️‼️‼️‼️ banger after banger only 🔊🔊🔊

usagi also tries to teach leo more japanese and how to write kanji. he thinks it's fucking hilarious that leo doesn't know it. he's always like "u know ninjitsu, ur trained in sword fighting, and u have a literal world class japanese warrior as ur father, but u don't know japanese ??? 🤨 L." HAHAHA but they're getting there !! leo's japanese has improved a lot since he started hanging with usagi !!!

WHAT DO THE OTHERS THINK?

so leo actually gatekeeps his and usagi's friendship for almost a good yr before he ever lets usagi meet his brothers. he wanted this one thing to himself and it was kinda like an escape from all the bad vibes at home. also he was scared that usagi would think his brothers r cooler than him lmfaooo. don't worry usagi sets him straight about that tho !!!

also usagi knows a lot about leo's bros just from how much he talks/rants about them, and he tries to pay attention bc he knows leo's bros mean everything to him !!!!

raphael: he and raph actually get along pretty great !!! maybe even the most. raph does mother hen him once they get comfortable with each other but usagi knows it comes from a place of care, which he really really appreciates bc he isn't close with his family the way the guys r. they both give each other advice and have really good conversations with each other. they've both stayed awake for hours just talking about different stuff and the bros and everything. i hc raph is actually going thru a pretty bad depressive episode around this point in time too and usagi gives him some pretty sound advice about how he's feeling and how to not let it completely take over. he tells raph to also rely on the others; he knows what it's like to have ur emotions feel like a burden but he tells him there is no way the others would ever want him to feel the way he does. they care so much about him !!! usagi thinks raph is surprisingly easy to talk to also :)

donnie: at first they got on each other's nerves. i think they're both pretty similar even if donnie is slightly more eccentric, plus i imagine that like most people donnie doesn't like change, and leo HAS been changing a lot outside of his periphery ever since he started hanging with usagi more! donnie is like that's the guy that's been making my brother not come home until like eight in the morning and makes him never want to be here. so there was kinda a grudge on his part bc he does miss leo :( however i think they bond when they find themselves roasting leo together or something i just think that would be absolutely hilarious HAHAHA. they end up being really good friends also !!!! i imagine they appreciate how low energy the other can be sometimes, and usagi is genuinely impressed at how smart donnie is.

mikey: PLSSSS DONT HATE ME but i hc they get along the least. NOT BC THEY DONT LIKE EACH OTHER ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ but mikey is even more high energy than leo and sometimes usagi literally cant take it haha, but that's only when his social quota is really low already. otherwise he and mikey get along pretty great !!! mikey was one of the first ones to really initiate him into the family and let him know he's welcome any time and like obviously it's mikey so usagi has a soft spot for him. however he doesn't really like the doctor feelings schtick he pulls sometimes (among mikey's other PHDs lmfao) and he very much tries to escape those sessions when mikey busts them out HAHAHA.

i imagine usagi slotting into the family pretty easily actually, he's just another kid that splinter doesn't realize he's collecting lmfao.

i imagine him feeling sort of on the fringes at first tho, bc he hasn't known them his whole like like say april, hasn't been thru life changing battles with them like casey or cassandra. he's not even just that odd relative like draxum lol. he's just leo's friend and he doesn't want to encroach on their little unit they have going on or be a burden or anything so it takes a little while for him to open up to them and let them get to know him. they grow closer tho the more leo starts bringing him around and actually interacting :) usagi is very fond of all of them !!

Question do you ship Leosagi, Leorai or others?

Ah! Well tbh-

03 Leorai and 07 Leorai I ship them, mainly because I'm a huge sucker for the forbidden lovers from different sides of two opposing parties troupe. Leorai also applies for the other types of media where they're not related. As long as they're not related then I like the ship.

12 Leorai absolutely not due to obvious reasons. This also goes for Rise Leorai cuz again for obvious reasons. Absolutely do not ship these variants of Leorai and I'll die on this hill.

Leosagi......hmmm.....well tbh........

I don't....really ship them. At least romantically. Like yes it's an adorable ship and I love the fan art people make but I just like the thought of Leo having a friend cuz honestly he deserves to have that. He deserves to have someone he can confined in like Donnie has April or Raph has Casey ya know? So it's strictly platonic in the Leosagi department for me.

I also ship Mikey and Renet from the 12 series as well as Mikey and Shinigami from the 12 series, cuz they're adorable as all hell and work well with one another in both pairings, as well as Mikey and Kala cuz omg how can you not (dude they carry little photos of one another help-).

Ramona absolutely in both the 12 series and 87 series cuz they're literally perfect and complement each other perfectly. April and Casey in basically every version that there is, cuz yes, literally been my OTP since childhood. April and Donnie and Casey from the 12 series (it can go as either an OTP or OT3 for all three of them). And finally I love the ship of Leo and Lotus Blossom from the 87 series it's super cute.

Oh also Leo and April from the 12 series cuz they're incredibly cute and I simply love the chemistry between them it's just so good.

I LOVE your blog it's so friendly and cool! Do you know any other TMNT art and or fanfiction blogs that are safe and friendly to interact with?(Im new to this)

I don't actually read much fanfiction for TMNT, I'm very picky about it, mostly because I have a hard time dealing with all angst all the time, or I want to write about the same stuff, which I want to write first before I read anyone else's about it.

All I've got for fanfic is @virgilisspidey, who writes Two Souls, a fic where 2012 Leo is a ghost that somehow got attached Two Souls (the game) style to Rise Leo. It's still ongoing but they're very active and answer questions all the time!! As for art ones, I think these people are friendly and cool! I don't know how much interaction they want?? But these are the names I can think of off the top of my head. (I am terrible with remembering names I'm so sorry if I've forgotten someone I definitely have) My friend @wondrous-art (Ibby) is the one who co-writes Mystic Forest and Season X with me!

@20s-turtle-posting does absolutely gorgeous art that I am incredibly jealous of and I want to stare at all day long. They also do SUPER cute little fics occasionally.

@holographic-mars love their art so much

@autisticmichelangelos my beloved (platonic)

@wormspoodle does very good art that I cry over often

@neoncolorblocks does much cute art and has an AU where the 2012 boys are looking after baby Rise boys that I love

@crownedcrowrow has an au based on Overload, the unmade season from 2003 where the turtles have to team up with their pre-teen selves to defeat the Shredder (again). And also a lot of other art!!!

Okay! So I was making a post before about making playlists etc about Usagi's relationship (both platonic and romantic) with each turtle brother. Leosagi and Donsagi are both easy as I'm a huge fan of both and the there's a lot of great fancontent that help me too.

However, I am lowkey stuck when it comes to Raphsagi and Mikesagi as I haven't thought about them as pairings before really (and usually I put Usagi as closer friend with both Leo and Donnie as well) and there's not much fancontent either to get inspiration from. Not romantically NOR platonically.

So I am a bit curious now, are there anyone with any thoughts/headcanons for these pair-ups? If so PLEASE send some my way! It would be so much fun to imagine possible dynamics with them.

I have a few and I will put them under the cut:

I haven't fully decided to the Rise!version of Usagi yet, I have a lot of different versions of him honestly, so he will be different for both of these kinda. 2 different versions I have that each fit a little better with different turtles lmao.

First, Raphsagi:

1. I'm imagining this Rise!Usagi to be close to the Miymoto Usagi version, slightly more mature (compared to Yuichi for example) but still joining in on goofy stuff etc. and can be a good match for Raph in his older sibling role and be a source of calm an comfort for the oldest brother to turn to at times.

2. He'd still have a close relationship with Leo (it is basically a LAW that those 2 are friends at this point! I refuse to skip it!), but maybe it will be closer to a training buddy and bestie/extra sibling like April, or something similar.

3. Raph would probably be a bit uncomfortable around Usagi at first due to his fear of rabbits (specifically the doll, but the trauma left scars and he's working through his phobia), however with time Usagi will become a comfort for him and then basically becoming his therapy-cuddles partner. Imagine that!

4. THAT SIZE DIFFERENCE THO??!!! So cute, love it. I love the thought of Usagi cuddling in Raph's lap or hanging off of his arm or back etc. Idk why I am so amored by this dynamic for characters BUT I AM.

Next, Mikesagi:

1. This Usagi might be similar to Yuichi or simply just a younger, more shy version of Miyamoto.

2. He's easily excited, but tries to kerp it in as he doesn't think it's fitting of his Samurai(-to-be) role, however he easily gets dragged into whatever shenanigans the brothers wants to do and is especially attached to Mikey and his bubbly personality. He also looks up to Leo as a swordsman and the 2 often spar together.

3. He really enjoys keeping Mikey company when he cooks or does art and crafts. And he likes hanging out in Donnie's lab, simply watching the older turtle work with things Usagi simply does not understand. It's interesting though so the rabbit sticks around and tries to not get in the way of things.

- The more mature version of Usagi would adore Mikey as his own younger brother and he'd probably let him get away with a lot of stuff he would normaly give Leo/others side eye for.

Well, that's what I have.

I need to come up with way more of a dynamic with both of these. Wish me luck!

I just wanted to tell you that your fic is the new “everything everywhere all at once” for me, every single chapter I end up sobbing over how you explain and are able to put into words not only romantic love and relations, but familial and platonic one’s. I end up getting so overwhelmed with emotion and appreciation on how you are able to put so much complex feelings into words that it ends up taking me much longer to finish a chapter than it probably should. But that’s okay, because I feel like this fic deserves it if not more than the time I give it. Objectively, it should take me around 30 minutes to finish (and dissect) a chapter of this length. It takes me more than an hour only to then proceed to take up my entire brain capacity.

Despite the complex concepts you write about, you do it in a way that’s not at all difficult to understand and I appreciate you for how your writing has the intentions reach out and be able to get to everyone on such an emotional level. What gives me the EEAAO feeling of it all is of this specifically but also the fact that you write it in the context of something so simple like ninja turtles.

It doesn’t make any sense to give such heartache and emotions to a turtle, but it DOES and it WORKS /so/ well. It never feels ridiculous or questionable, it just makes me think of how much of a genius you are for putting so much feeling onto someone that we barely have canonical context for. Because the situation can be as dumb and silly as you want and have me giggling and kicking my feet, or be somber and show fondness and reminiscences and have me cry my eyes out and it works better when having both because I have absolutely no idea what I would do if it was missing one or the other.

I think I can say with full confidence that your characterization and version of Nardo is one that will stay with me. I haven’t met him in my entire life but I have??? And he brought me burnt cookies he made with love the other day??? I don’t care how big he is, I will proceed to hold him in my hands gently for the rest of time.

I'm not going to lie, I had to take a pause every couple of sentences to really take it all in, because although I obvs always knew about the heaviness of some of the themes I was writing about in the fic along side the silliness and the romance, I never have actually thought that it spoke so deeply to anyone else but me, and knowing that it did and does just makes me so emotional in such a way that I can't really explain, and the only picture that could at least come close to describing it would be:

This ask has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me in the sense that I have never felt more proud of a work before while at the same time feeling this little melancholy about the reasons for this fic existing... But you know what, I am proud of them too.

I honestly can't thank you enough for saying all this. This analysis has been the biggest compliment I received and I shall cherish it forever. And if you do find the words you are trying to speak, don't hesitate to send more! I enjoyed every letter from you, and I can't even begin to tell you how touched I am by your opinion about Nardo. He is such comfort to me too, and I completely get everything you say because despite not having met him ever, I'm pretty sure the turtle man has tucked me in for the night a couple of days in a row.

Okay question.

I have had this idea in my head for a valentines special. It would take place about a year after the main story.

Leo and Usagi would be on a date but it would be kinda in the style of the hidden city episodes where each chapter focuses on what each of the brothers are doing. There stories might briefly cross in the background of one another.

The main parts

Raph meeting a certain someone

Leosagi date

Donnie makes a friend and has an unexpected team up.

Mikey vs Meat Sweats but he makes two new friends.

April and Sunita date.

Each chapter would be a little nod to some of the ships in the fandom. The poll I did earlier would determine the ends of some of those stories.

It’s just a fun way to expand the world while also introducing some potential love interest/platonic relationships for the other boys

But my Dilemma.

Do I start airing it (it would have an intro chapter and then a few others for each part)

Do I wait and air it when I’m done with the main story.

Waiting means I can flush out the Tenshu gangs relationships with the mad dogs with out jolting us all into the future. I also don’t want to post the first chapter and not touch it again until the main story. I don’t know how well I can split my attention. Yes they are short stories but I also might have to push chapters back for it.

So! I think I've figured out how to tag both the leosagi and leochi ships.

Since this is mainly a BLOG and not just a random social media page, it will be easier for me to organize the tags as if this were a more traditional blogging site. So I will be trying to keep the tags as few and as relevant as possible.

I'll be mainly using YuiNardo / yuinardo from now on for just the Yuichi Usagi/rottmnt Leo ship, and stuff like my own fanart. it's specifically "show x show" for me (Yuichi x Nardo, bc those are their unique names in their respective shows xD) and not some of the fan OC stuff

leosagi for the general 2003 Miyamoto Usagi/Leonardo ship but maybe also i.e. crossovers where ppl draw all the versions?

katanashipping also for 2003 leosagi? like I guess I'll decide based on how specific it gets (edit 1.05.23) definitely about 2003 leosagi, since that's where it originated from

I'll use 2003 leosagi when it gets more specific i.e. fanfic recs or longform comics which I wanna find later

Rise Leosagi for the 2018 versions that people have made their own, based on the Miyamoto/Leo ship (lol this might be difficult to retag, cuz I'm not sure what I've tagged with what anymore)

Sliderbunny for people's own versions of rottmnt Leo and (both romantic and platonic ships, cuz there aren't as many posts for this anymore)

and I guess Leochi for something more specific? like that's been the tag now for Leo/Yuichi but I'm not sure where it started from so idk how to use it but I guess I'll find out when I see more stuff in the tag lol. might use it just for reblogs/fanart but I’ll see

I can't remember any other names so those are it for now. I probably won’t use the longer names like Yuichi x Leo, Miyamoto x Leonardo etc just bc I find it tedious to use that many spaces in tags when tagging can be sorta annoying to do on mobile and then fix later on PC. I’m more of a “tag and go” kind of person and I like my tags to be easy to write.

like im sorry I write so much (I don't enjoy writing lenghty things) but i legit need to tag like an oldschool blog occasionally bc I ENJOY finding stuff on my own blog later. it just makes sense! it is so confusing going thru multiple tags for the same thing when it could have a singular tag. or a single new tag for a specific use. and I've forgotten to do that after using social media so much for so long lol

anyway this isn't that important i am just chillin and remembered that I thought of this and needed to post it so I wouldn't forget.

Thinking of that, I guess the tag clogging starts to make sense, considering how much people are more used to the "tag clouds" popularized by twitter and instagram and social-media-like sites before those (the sites inbetween blogging and web 2.0, maybe, but didn't really use those as much so I don't remember either) + the confusion about what the og leosagi was (+ maybe general tmnt fandom confusion over various versions of media for the franchise)

lol it's gonna take a bit long but I'll reorganize the blog more once I have a bit of time on the side from other stuff. now it feels nice that this blog isn't actually that big yet. I don't use sideblogs very long usually and it's my first time actually making anything TMNT related for this long, so it'll be interesting seeing where this blog will go in general. like how it's probably been subtle that while this userhandle/blog started as a tMNT sideblog, I actually have started blogging more about Usagi Chronicles now bc I like the show. and idk what else I'll post if I have time but I will probs keep it as a reblog blog anyways!

I try not to write long blog posts on tumblr anymore but I think the whole "leosagi-leochi tag clogging" point brought up in the "Why do we ship leosagi" video is also just a good point abt how we don't really treat blogs like blogs anymore. every sort of behaviour online has become so influenced by the want to make it trend or have it at least be read at all ("social media" aspect of online behavior now) that even stuff like ao3, a fanfic site, will have tags like "AO3 algothithm, PLEASE be nice to me" when sites like that don't even HAVE algorhithms. it's interesting to think about but also a bit sad on the side because that "tag clouding" does seem to be the only way for some works to become noticed on the above-mentioned actual social media sites. this almost makes me miss sites like deviantart and blogger because things always felt more centralized and easy to find vs twitter, insta or occasionally even tumblr.

ANYWAY

lol all this just to organize my thoughts on ship tags

if you've read this far, lemme know if there are any other tags ppl use? or are there any other types of tagging conventions we should bring back i.e. mashing the names together?
