1. what's the fic you're most proud of?
2. what's a fic that took you to an emotional/dark/hard place?
I'll answer this as one question because the answer is the same. I am the most proud of the fic E Scusa Se Ti Amo. It's my longest story in English. I proved myself that I can write a (from my point of view) long-ish, multi-chaptered story. I fell in love again with writing thanks to this fic, my mind started coming up with another ideas for other stories and I've met incredible people who encouraged me along the way. I loved and enjoyed the process of writing, trying to come up with timelines that would work.
But also, because of the topic/main plot, it was so hard. I remember thinking about the plot on my way from work and I literally made myself sick to my stomach. I remember the scene I was thinking about. I changed it in the end, toned the angst down.

19. If you could write an ideal fic, what would it include?
ooh i think a big thing for me would be that it would include an intricate plot??? i'm very much a "no plot, just vibes" kind of writer and as such, i find it really hard to write long fics. i've only ever written 3 fics that were longer than 40k and while that's obviously still a big achievement, i wish i could be one of those people that could write an 80k epic fic that has people on the edge of their seats with every update as the plot unfolds
so yeah, i'm not sure about specific tropes etc but i'd love to write a fic that feels more full, y'know?
20. What’s the greatest gift you’ve gotten from your writing?
hmm i think honestly confidence?? i feel like writing is the one thing that no one taught me how to do, if that makes sense. there were no creative writing modules when i was doing my english degree so it really was this thing that i nurtured and developed on my own through lots of reading and lots of practice and lots of encouragement from people who've left comments/kudos on my fics over the years.
and i think, if it wasn't for that, i wouldn't be at the stage i'm at now with my writing where - for the most part - i genuinely like it. don't get me wrong by the time i'm done editing something i usually don't want to look at it askjdfha but now i feel like i can reread a good majority of my fics and be really proud and confident in the work i've done :') (even if the odd sentence or whatever here and there might make me cringe!) i believe in myself more, i think, which is a v nice feeling to have 💗

1. what's the fic you're most proud of?
there's two that i'm proud of, and for different reasons! the first is here everyone knows (you're the way to my heart), because it was the fic that got me back into writing and i'm so fucking happy that i did because it has been very healing!
the second is across our great divide (a glorious sunrise) because it's the most words i've ever written at once, and it was a difficult subject matter, but it was so rewarding to write.
6. what's the hardest part of the writing process for you?
i think actually executing the story. i can cook up a million plots, but when it comes to writing it, i get nervous that i won't actually be able to do my idea (or someone else's idea) justice! that's why it takes me one million years to finish prompts lol (sorry!!)
15. how do you think your writing has improved over time?
oh man. just by virtue of getting older and maturing, my writing has automatically improved. grammatically, content-wise, style-wise, i've really come into my own and (i think) developed a recognizable style.

idk if this is how we're SUPPOSED to use them, but I use my bookmarks as my TBR list. right now I have 390 fics bookmarked! better get to reading!

oh I cry all the time. I'm a big ole' crybaby. like truly, I cry at a LOT of fics. I'm a little embarrassed about it for no reason at all, but last year I read ATYD (which got me back into fan fic!) and sobbed for like, half a day. literally. then I went on to find some fix it fics and everything was okay again!

After talking about WIPs yesterday, you inspired me to polish and post some of the fics that have been languishing in my drafts, thank you for that! This one is for you @phd-mama, I am sending you love as you make it through the rest of your weekend! 💜
Somewhere, and Harry still isn’t quite sure where, Draco finds a muggle book on anatomy for children. He spends an entire weekend poring over it, taking in the red and blue diagrams of the circulatory system, flexing his arms and legs in strange ways while reading about muscles, and calling Harry over to poke and prod when he reaches the section about the skeleton. (“Harry, come here, I want to see if I can feel your patella! I’m going to try moving it now, tell me if-“ “Ow, Draco, what do you think you’re doing? Stop that!”)
For some reason, though, it’s the cardiovascular system that really draws him in. Draco reads the pages about the heart pumping blood throughout the body, and then promptly seeks out Harry to sprawl all over him on the couch, only to reread the pages he just read, now with his ear pressed to Harry’s chest and the comforting thump-thump slosh of blood echoing in them both. He reads even further, ignoring the hand that Harry slips under his shirt and the thumb that smooths over his side, until a little box on the corner of a page tells the children for whom the book was meant to “Find Your Own Pulse!” Draco dutifully reads the instructions, then grabs Harry’s wrist, wrapping Harry’s arm around him and pressing two fingers into the flesh until he finds the same thump-thump there that he hears in Harry’s chest.
It becomes somewhat of a thing for Draco, after that. He’s always been weird about public displays of affection, or at least he’s been that way in Harry’s mind, never hesitating to grab him and bodily move him wherever he wants Harry to be, and quick to adjust any part of Harry’s appearance he objects to, forever straightening his shirts, his hair, and brushing lint off of his clothes. It’s his own tetchy way of showing affection, Harry knows that, wrapped up in layers of prodding and bullying and snobbishness because Draco can’t let other people see how much he cares about anything, or anyone. But now, Draco catches Harry’s wrist in public too, pressing just two fingers beside the tendon there, and leaving his hand in place even after he must have felt the beats proving Harry is still alive and well.
Harry, of course, will never say anything about this. He knows Draco well enough to know that that conversation would end in a fight, and would bring about the end of this new manner of casual affection. But he also knows what it means when Draco catches his wrist and takes his pulse, and Draco knows what it means when his pulse stutters and speeds up, and they both know what it means when Harry kisses him on the inside of his wrist, and then his mouth, just because he can. Because they’re both alive, and here, together, and why shouldn’t he?

All of Spring 2022 papers are due in about 21 hours.
I have one 15 page thing left to cobble together and flesh out from the 7 pages of chaos I have right now.
The 20 page thing is mostly done, except for making the prof's particular lens of analysis extremely clear in every section, and doing the works cited page.
The 25 page thing is done except the godawful works cited page and a last pass of is this on topic, I think so.
I'm basically living on mineral water, granola bars, cheese sticks, and some weird pickles I found and had delivered from Target.
Go to graduate school, they said. Become a doctor, they said. You're so smart so it'll be easy for you, they said. You'll research interesting things and teach interesting classes and talk to interesting people, they said.
