Considering how popular Qijiu and Liujiu are as a ships, and that a lot of people seem to headcanon Liu Qingge as having at least crushed on Yue Qingyuan for a while, I'm surprised there aren't more throuple/OT3 fics for them.

I mean not actually because it would be such a bad idea. They would have so many problems. There would be so many hurdles, like even just getting two of these guys to hookup usually involves some degree of truth serum or cosmic intervention or fuck-or-die scenarios, but embroiling all three of them in something like that would just let their bizarro brain worms thrive. Each of them is convinced that they are somehow the third wheel. Shen Jiu thinks that the only thing stopping Liu Qingge from plotting to kill him is that he's not clever enough to plot, and that Yue Qingyuan is enduring his inclusion under sufferance of guilt. Liu Qingge thinks that Shen Jiu is definitely actively plotting to kill him to get him out of the way, and that Yue Qingyuan is enduring his inclusion under sufferance of guilt. Yue Qingyuan is sure that any day now Liu Qingge and Shen Jiu are going to figure out that they're actually perfect for one another and then eject him from the polycule. They are all not speaking to each other but also regularly having furniture-shattering sex. Despite everything, the sex improves their dispositions so much that none of the other peak lords dare to intervene.

Furthermore, it's extra spicy if that chosen one was a reluctant hero who only realizes it at the end, right before they have to die... and they make the choice to go through with it anyway???? When they ultimately have something to die for now (read found family who tries to stop them and/or turns from fighting the big bad to fighting the fucking universe to save them)????? i was going through the ao3 tag for botw last night and i was a little sad that the few fics i saw directly paralleling pre-calamity and post-calamity link seemed to insist that post-calamity link was so much worse off than pre-calamity link. like i get what they were trying to say with regard to post-calamity link now facing a lot of chronic pain and limitations on his body that the pre-calamity link does not, which is rly cool, but i almost think that makes post-calamity link's joy all the more poignant, you know? for all that his physical body isn't what it used to be, post-calamity link smiles. he makes funny poses when you use the camera in self portrait mode, he has a sense of humor, he's open and honest. he blushes when he's called cute. he likes wearing the gerudo outfit. he's consumed by delight when you feed him, he hums a little tune when he cooks. for the most part, he communicates with others—whether this is sign language or oral is up for debate, but he does talk to people, because they reply to him.

like idk, link losing the physical capacity to be the Perfect Knight he once was and having to rely on his resourcefulness and ingenuity to be a hero again, but gaining now a genuine love for the life he has is so beautiful, actually. what a reversal of an age old story that equates physical disability with mental anguish. what a great way of saying, "it may hurt. it may be hard. but you can still have a fulfilling life being different than you were before. you are still allowed to live."
