Why do we need to encourage our children to read books?

One year ago I got my bat tattoo and one year ago it was the worst night of my life afterwards. I’ve only told a few people but I got into a massive fight with my family about my eating disorder, I was cornered in the kitchen, gaslit, and forced to stand on a scale to prove a point. All of this only happened because someone on the outside finally forced them to fucking acknowledge me and my issue. I’m still angry that everyone was more than content to ignore it until it probably became a very high medical bill.

I ran away that night, thanks to my loving wife Hemlock and her mom who provided me a safe haven while I recouped. That recouping took a while because I did not feel safe enough being home full time.

My body remembers all of this, too. The body does keep the score.

Which explains why I’ve been exceptionally emotional on top of other things and living like I’m still back there to some degree.

If your child has an eating disorder, there’s a difference between supporting them enough to want to see them do better and forcing them to get better. You can’t force an addict out of their habits if they don’t fucking want it. It’s like driving your kid further into the arms of their abuser. The more you rail against it, they more they’ll want to be with them. All you can do is just leave hints that it’s not good for them and not just hear them but actually fucking listen to them when they resurface. I’ve had so many veil lifted moments where I looked at my body and went “oh my fucking god, What have I done to myself?” I’ll be honest, I still want to be bone thin because it’s a body I’ve never fucking had and I was forced to get better. So basically, I’ve been bucking and saying “no, fuck you. I want to do this my way.”I’m still doing that but in a way where I’m not hurting myself because I know my partner would take issue with me getting bad again. But damn it if I don’t fucking hate my body. It sucks because I want to feel as beautiful as everyone else is claiming I am but I just don’f feel that way.

Because of Minecraft axolotls are now more popular than Nemo. 

This is really great for breeders and aquariums. 

However, minecraft does have a young demographic, this means that a lot more younger kids are getting axolotls not knowing that minecraft is not a very accurate representation of what axolotls do all day (which is eating, sleeping and trying to breed).

Axolotls are very primitive and need a lot of care. Giving axolotls to young kids who might not have the responsibility to look after an axolotl might be harmful for the creature.

I recommend that if you are a parent with a young child who wants an axolotl chose a more common pet first such as a goldfish to see if they have the responsibility to look after an axolotl before making such a step!

I personally recommend Bettas for pre-teens and such.

Hey there!

I’m Miss Michele, and welcome to the first entry in my Kids Deserve Better blog!. I have been educating for about 15 years, catering to every age from newborn all the way through adulthood. 

So many of us treat children the way we were treated as adults when we were small, but times have changed. Research has been done. We can do so much better for our children than our adults were able to do for us.

My goal with this blog is to help educate people on the realities of childhood. I will walk you through how to handle topics ranging from jealous new siblings, to handling death, to divorce, and even topics as simple as a tantrum in the grocery store.  My goal is to not only create a happier, healthier generation moving forward, but to also transform all of you into more confident and less stressed adults in relation to the children in your care.
