Owen Pitt (Monster Hunter World)

After a couple of days playing Monster Hunter World again (and reading Monster Hunter: Fever) I really really wanted to make some crossover art of the two franchises, lol.

Ironically, despite their similar names, Monster Hunter International (the series where Owen is from) and Monster Hunter World (The world I have placed him in) are two very different I.P.s. With MHI being a more character driven book series that only pretends to be dumb action books, and MHW just being a really good "go kill that big ass fire lizard and try not to die faint to many times" game series.

So what better way to have my cake and eat it, too, than to merge the two together.

So I gave Owen the Nergigante Gamma Armor set (since I feel it fits his edgy burly badass, but not quite emo, style) and gave him the Terror Tyrannos Switch Axe. I thought that the switch axe would be a really good fit for him, it being somewhat complicated, but not as bad as the charge blade (though I do believe he would eventually switch). Due to his main weapon in Monster Hunter International being a Saiga 12 gauge auto (close range gun with a lot of ass behind it) named Abomination, I feel like he would choose a pretty close range, heavy hitting, semi-quick weapon if he were a character in Monster Hunter World. So I thought the switch axe would be a perfect fit.

At any rate, I'll quit being autistic, and hope you enjoy my take of Owen in MHW.

I have another TK/Owen moment from Flashback Fic because it involves a certain moose that I told @goodways about in this ask and now, much like Carlos after he hooked up with TK, I can't get Monty Morgan out of my head.

Owen cups TK’s left heel in his palm and moves the flashlight over it again, inspecting close. “God. I see another piece of glass. You’ve stepped in who-knows-what. When was your last tetanus shot?”

TK, who can barely recall his own name, wails at his dad to take a chill pill, and he’s so ridiculous it actually makes Owen laugh.

“There’s my boy,” he says, “You’re going to be okay.”

Owen finishes patching up TK’s feet quietly and helps him hobble across the living space to his bedroom. TK hasn’t spent the night here since he moved into his own rented apartment, and it’s pretty much the same it’s been since his late-teens:

Off-white walls are decorated with posters of Nirvana, Death Cab, Eminem, Muse, and shirtless Brad Pitt.

A bright yellow comforter covers the bed in the corner, the foot of which meets the window. TK has often sat at the end of this bed, staring at the street below, people watching, alone but not lonely.

The pinewood desk is long-free of schoolwork, neat now with a mug from the Guggenheim that is full of colorful pens, and a few old books about photography, human biology, and twentieth-century American literature, with a battered copy of The Catcher in the Rye on top.

A rug of muted rainbow squares remains on the hardwood floor.

And here is his shelf of well-squeezed plushies.

Mr. Bear the polar bear, missing an eye.

Rory the lion, whose mane he trimmed short with the kitchen scissors.

Montgomery ‘Monty’ Morgan the Moose, a gift from Aunt Elinor, who moved to Montreal to work at a research station when TK was eight. She mailed the silky-soft, sweet-faced moose with floppy antlers to Gwyn – a lifelong lover of perplexingly cute giant creatures like moose, manatees, walrus, sloths. Gwyn named him Montgomery ‘Monty’ Morgan and gave him to TK; TK took Monty Morgan with him to Owen’s because he helped with his homesickness when he was away from her.

TK grabs Monty Morgan for something to press against his sore stomach and crashes onto his old bed, his face twisting. He’s felt so unwell since he had to stand up again. To Owen, his son might as well be the colicy baby he once was, the way he’d thrash and his face would contort with pain. The way his tongue would jut in and out of his mouth. His mouth is dark red today. The skin around his lips blotchy as if zits lie below the surface, ready to erupt. His tongue is cracked like sun-dried earth, and earthish in tone, just a hint of its former pinkness. Slowly – yet it's strikingly apparent – TK lies before his father and drains to gray.

Apparently quoting Hitler isn’t enough for North Carolina’s Republican nominee for Governor. Mark Robinson also wants to take away women’s right to vote.

Robinson—a Hitler-quoting, LGBTQ-bashing, feminist-hating, conspiracy-pushing antisemite—won the Tar Heel State’s Republican gubernatorial nomination on Super Tuesday. Since then, a four-year-old video has resurfaced of him making yet more questionable comments.

During an event hosted in March 2020 by the Republican Women of Pitt County, Robinson, who was then running for lieutenant governor, mused on what would make America “great again.” He said someone had asked conservative activist Candace Owens which version of the U.S. was better: one where “Black people were swinging from cheap trees” or one where women weren’t allowed to vote.

“I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote,” Robinson said, apparently thinking that was an entirely normal and reasonable thing to say to a roomful of women.

According to Robinson, before women had the right to vote, “in those days we had people who fought for real social change, and they were called Republicans.”

The room was silent during Robinson’s comments, but apparently it wasn’t too off-putting to voters. Robinson went on to become lieutenant governor, and then he won his 2024 primary with 66% of the vote. Mathematically, some of those voters had to be women.

Robinson has long held other outrageous stances. He has said feminism was created by Satan, that feminist women are “fem-nazis,” and that feminist men are “about as MANLY as a pair of lace panties.”

In December 2017, he wrote on Facebook that, “The only thing worse than a woman who doesn’t know her place, is a man who doesn’t know his.”

Robinson has also quoted Hitler on social media. In 2014, he cited the genocidal German dictator’s stance on racial pride. Then, at a Moms for Liberty event in July, he defended his desire to quote Hitler.

In other posts, Robinson has downplayed the Holocaust, compared abortion to murder, and called LGBTQ people “filth” and “maggots.”

Several film collaborations with great costar with chemistry only work when the films are very different ie Ryan G and Emma Stone in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Lalaland. I fear a cleopatra film by Deni with Zendaya and Timmy would be too similar in people’s minds to dune.

I agree. Don't get me wrong! I'm not against co-stars working with each other more than once on a film.

Besides the Gabriel of it all - both TK and Carlos get trapped somewhere/in a dangerous situation together, and they have to work as a Tarlos team to problem solve and get out of it and protect/rescue each other. And that's the extent of the drama - otherwise we see them in sexy domestic bliss, making each other laugh.

I'd bring back Gabriel. I may or may not be bringing him back in my next fic as a ghost.

Crossover with Brooklyn 99 - specifically to see TK and Carlos interact with Holt and Kevin.

Valentine's day ep where TK and Carlos have plans but things go comically awry.
