META: FABLE + ASTARION.
I think, originally when I had Fable romance Astarion, it was purely because I was thirsty over him, but as I played, I came to realize that if I follow Fable's canon as a reborn, they have quite a bit in common. On the surface, Fable is the kindest, sweetest person you'll ever meet –– too nice to gossip, too considerate to ever say no to anyone. The perfect person for Astarion to take advantage of and attach himself to. But there's definitely more to her, and I think while she has slight suspicions that Astarion (in a romance) is tricking her, she chooses to see the best in him, over and over again. Despite this, they do have many parallels. For one thing, there's a lot of internalized trauma towards things that were done to them without their consent –– Astarion becoming spawn and Fable being turned into a reborn (both, ironically, by corrupt vampires). The difference being, Fable has turned into a sacrificial martyr as a result, whereas Astarion became self-preservation and looking out for himself. It's exactly the reason Fable is constantly volunteering for him to drink from her –– being a reborn, Fable tends to suffer from survivor's guilt, and thinks that her existence is best suited in service of others: protecting them and dying for them, if need be. She doesn't have a lot of self-worth and has a lot of trauma she hasn't accepted, due to what was done to her. It's lessened in her Baldur's Gate verse, but still. Furthermore, another thing is I think Fable understands Astarion quite deeply. His dissatisfaction with his appearance is mirrored by the fact that she doesn't look anything like her past self either –– when her soul essence was taken from her by Ilastor, it sapped the color out of her. Her hair was a rich, cinnamon-y red, whereas her skin was a beautiful brown. Now, she's been leached of that color –– she barely recognizes herself and feels grief over what was stolen from her. A grief that I think Astarion very much understands, even if it's reflected as anger in him. They both can relate to that feeling of not knowing who once were compared to the 'monsters' they feel they are now. I think these differences kind of makes them perfect for each other in the interest of character growth, since Fable doesn't value her own life enough and Astarion can teach her to be more selfish (in a good way). On the othe hand, Fable is an equally good influence on him, teaching him to open his heart and care about others without the fear of them taking advantage of him or him becoming weak as a result. I think that, as unlikely a pair as they make on the surface, they bring out the best in one another and have a lot to teach other. I based Fable off of Adora from She-Ra and I think that Astarion exhibits a lot of Catra's behaviors, so that's just another reason I think they make a lot of sense. I would never push any of this on any Astarion rpers, but it explains Fable's opinion of him, and the way she sees him. Even if he doesn't feel anything for her, she can't help but see some of herself in him, and want the best for him, because if Astarion can be worthy of happiness, maybe... maybe she is too.

“And… action!”
Éponine took a deep breath in as she walked on set, ready to recite her lines and just throw herself into the making of the film, telling herself, You can do this.
She just had to film a kissing scene with none other than Gabriel Alexandre Enjolras. That’s all. No biggie.
At least, it shouldn’t be a biggie. She had done countless kissing scenes with loads of other actors and actresses! (Yes, she had fallen for a few of her co-stars in the process, most infamously with a lovely redheaded actress who broke her heart and whom she never heard from again once the hype for the film they were in together died down, but that was beside the point.) This shouldn’t be such a big deal!
And yet it was. The director/HBIC, Musichetta, constantly praised how Éponine and Enjolras’s onscreen chemistry was “through the roof”—Musichetta’s exact words. What Musichetta didn’t know, though, was that Éponine had defied her better judgment and gone and developed feelings towards Enjolras, resulting in lots of seemingly one-sided pining.
It fucking sucked.
At first, Éponine had been set on keeping her relationship with Enjolras strictly professional, telling herself repeatedly that they were only going to be acting together as love interests and nothing else. Besides, he had seemed rather uptight and aloof when Éponine first met him and learned that they were going to be playing love interests, which she had been none too thrilled about due to his cold attitude.
But then there was the plot twist, as she liked to call it.
They began to warm up towards each other, conversing behind the scenes and sharing moments together, and Éponine soon discovered that Enjolras wasn’t quite the standoffish, frigid person he appeared to be in public. No, Enjolras opened up to her, and as they continued to grow closer, she found out that she was one of the few people he had ever opened up to and truly bonded with. About four months into filming, light-hearted conversations behind the scenes turned into deep talks over lunches and dinners together. The next thing she knew, she was falling for him, and as a result, those longing, adoring gazes she threw his way while filming their scenes together were no longer staged.
How nobody had noticed at this point was beyond Éponine.
Musichetta cleared her throat loudly from her chair. “Hello? Éponine? Did you hear me?” After a few more moments in which Éponine remained lost in her thoughts, Musichetta grumbled and yelled, “Cut!”
Wow. They hadn’t even started doing the scene yet.
Nearby, Enjolras stood rather nervously, rocking back and forth on his feet as he gazed at Éponine, who finally snapped out of it as she was approached by a five-foot-two ball of rage, otherwise known as Musichetta.
“Éponine! Are you listening to me?” Musichetta waved her hands frantically in the brunette’s face, successfully gaining her attention. Éponine flinched, her brown eyes finding Musichetta’s.
“Yes?” The tone in which Éponine said it seemed to change Musichetta’s entire attitude, and the petite but fierce director immediately went from exasperated to concerned.
“Are you okay?” Musichetta asked, placing her hands on each of Éponine’s shoulders. “You seem a bit off today.”
Éponine looked over Musichetta’s shoulder to steal a glance at Enjolras. They locked eyes for about a second before Enjolras blushed and looked away, running his fingers through his golden curls out of nerves.
She turned back to Musichetta, saying quietly, “Yeah, I’m okay. Just… I need some time to prepare myself.”
“Ah.” Musichetta patted Éponine’s shoulder in understanding, turning around and practically skipping back to her director’s chair.
“You need a drink?” Éponine heard a familiar voice offer. She turned to see Grantaire, one of her best friends since forever and art director.
She turned back to glance at Enjolras, who seemed to be gazing directly at her—although she could be wrong—and replied, “I’m good.”
I can’t do this.
Enjolras paced back and forth, wondering how he was going to get through this kissing scene. He’s done countless other kissing scenes for countless other films and TV shows, and he never thought much of them. He never felt any particular connection to those co-stars he had done kissing scenes with; he hadn’t known them very well. But with Éponine, it felt different somehow. More intimate. More… meaningful.
When Éponine stopped halfway through the beginning of the scene they were supposed to film, Enjolras had instinctively tensed up as well, and they stood there frozen, not knowing what to do, for several long, painful minutes before Musichetta yelled “CUT!”
Éponine seemed to have told Musichetta that she needed some time to prepare herself for the filming of the scene, and now they were taking a short break as Éponine got herself together. Enjolras continued to pace back and forth, wondering how this one was going to turn out.
Quite frankly, Enjolras was still surprised that nobody had noticed his obvious pining for Éponine.
Musichetta was constantly singing praises about how fantastic his onscreen chemistry with Éponine was, seeming quite oblivious to the fact that Enjolras was clearly head over heels in love with his co-star.
Seriously, how had nobody noticed? Those fond, yearning looks Enjolras gave Éponine—both during the filming of their scenes and off-set—were just too good to have been feigned. The film crew and the supporting cast seemed to write it off as excellent acting instead, which Enjolras supposed was a compliment, but still. Were they just that clueless?
Then again, Enjolras wasn’t known for romantic relationships—or any relationships at all, for that matter. At twenty-eight, he had never been in a long-term relationship—and in love—which was something the media constantly buzzed about, much to his disdain. He didn’t want his close relationships with people to be something that would make the front page of those silly gossip magazines, which was why he was particularly uptight and closed off in public, choosing to keep his personal life private. His aloof attitude towards nosy gossip columnists and annoying paparazzi had earned him quite a reputation, but he didn’t give a shit.
But that was besides the point.
He stole a tender glance at Éponine, watching as she did one of those breathing exercises he had taught her. It was astounding how so much had changed over the course of several months.
Enjolras hadn’t expected to find himself in a close friendship with Éponine, thinking at first that their relationship would stay strictly professional like it did with all of his former co-stars. He hadn’t expected to have little chats with her here and there between takes, which soon turned into longer conversations during breaks, which in turn became long talks about everything and nothing as they had dinner together. He hadn’t expected that more often than not, they would end up visiting each other’s trailers just to chat and watch Netflix together, and somehow, they always ended up falling asleep together on the couch, enshrouded by a thick blanket from the neck down.
Most of all, he hadn’t expected to fall in love with her.
He had feared that this would happen if he got too close to any of his co-stars, which was why he had always kept his guard up around them. Éponine had managed to break through his walls and get him to open up to her, and in turn, she had opened up to him, telling him things she had never told anyone else before. They formed a close bond, and soon, they became one another’s go-to person to talk to about deep shit.
But then there was the threat of a lack of reciprocation.
Enjolras seemed to have gotten it into his head that his feelings were purely one-sided, and whenever Éponine gave him those hopeful, affectionate looks, he would convince himself that it was just his mind playing tricks on him and that it was his own fault for falling in love in the first place.
All the thoughts that had been racing through his mind were soon extinguished by Musichetta shouting out, “Well, Éponine seems to have gotten her shit together! How about we try again?”
Enjolras turned and caught Éponine’s eye, visibly gulping when he met those familiar warm, brown eyes. Oh, fuck.
“I just—” Enjolras let out a soft sigh, staring down at his shoes as he faced Éponine, in the midst of filming their big kissing scene. “What happened?”
Éponine bit her lip, fully in character and yet not at the same time, blinking a few times and averting her eyes. Enjolras, also in character—but also not—caught on and asked tenderly, his voice even softer now, “Hey. Are you okay?”
Éponine, as scripted, looked up, an uncertain look in her eyes. It really was remarkable how good of an actress she was.
“I—” she paused, looking down again before glancing up abruptly, meeting Enjolras’s blue eyes. “I don’t know.”
She began to back away when Enjolras grabbed her wrist gently. “I’ve been really worried about you lately,” he told her, a look of utter concern and slight fear in his eyes. “You haven’t been…” He paused, as if searching for the right words. “You haven’t been yourself lately. Really, are you okay?”
Éponine looked up again, her eyes flicking to his lips momentarily. Then, just as scripted, she grabbed his face, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
The first thing she perceived was how soft his lips were, and how good they felt against hers. The second was taste—he tasted of spearmint and chocolate, an odd combination that somehow seemed to work for her. The third was how utterly right it felt to be kissing him, to be in such close proximity to him, and she could feel herself losing herself in the kiss, growing increasingly unaware of her surroundings as she focused on his lips on hers.
Enjolras had known that this was going to happen, but even so, his eyes widened instinctively at the feeling of her lips on his, and after standing there frozen for a few fleeting moments, he returned the kiss, wrapping his arms tightly around her waist and pulling her closer. Her hands moved to the back of his neck, one gently grasping the nape of his neck and the other moving up into his golden hair, tangling her fingers in his curls.
After a few moments in which they remained locked in a chaste kiss, they broke apart for air, Éponine’s hand immediately moving to caress his face, her thumb tracing his lips. Those very lips that she just kissed.
“I—” Enjolras’s voice was hoarse as he recited his lines. Whether or not the hoarseness in his voice was intentional or not, Éponine didn’t know. “Seriously, are you okay?”
Éponine merely giggled—not scripted—and pulled him back into the kiss, this one even more intense than the previous one. She let out a surprised moan when she felt his teeth dig into her bottom lip, and the next thing they knew, their tongues were in each other’s mouths, kissing each other with abandon, Enjolras dipping Éponine slightly. She grabbed at his curls as his hand slid down to grab her ass, evoking a squeak of pleasant surprise from her, and they didn’t hear Musichetta’s repeated shouts of “CUT!” until she grabbed a megaphone and yelled it out, deafening everyone in the studio.
“CUT!” she screeched, finally getting Éponine and Enjolras’s attention. They broke apart, their faces flushed red, to glance at her. She gave them a round of dry applause, saying, “Great passion, guys. Let’s just remind you this is supposed to be G-rated, so…”
Éponine and Enjolras blushed furiously at the reminder, avoiding eye contact with each other. “Sorry, Chetta,” Éponine mumbled, her cheeks burning.
“Let’s try that again, shall we?” Éponine and Enjolras nodded hastily in agreement, walking off-set to grab a drink before the second take. Grantaire approached Éponine with a glass of water and a knowing smirk on his face.
“You got a little carried away there, didn’t you?” he teased, not even flinching when she gave him one of her famous death glares.
“Fuck off,” she told him bitingly, taking the glass of water from him and chugging it all in one gulp. “Let’s see you try to do what I do for a living.”
Grantaire shrugged it off and walked away, whistling, just as Éponine and Enjolras walked back on set. Musichetta shouted again, “And… action!”
Éponine faced Enjolras, waiting patiently for him to begin.
“I just—” He sighed yet again, staring at his shoes. “What happened?”
She let out a slight sigh of frustration, prompting him to ask softly, “Hey. Are you okay?”
Éponine bit her lip and looked up again before quickly averting her eyes. She had to mentally stop herself from looking at his lips, immediately failing as her eyes flicked to his lips. “I—” A pause. She looked back up at him. “I don’t know.”
Backing away. Enjolras grabbing her wrist and looking her in the eye. He hoped she didn’t notice how he stole a quick glance at her lips before mentally berating himself for doing so. “I’ve been really worried about you lately,” he told her, concern in his blue eyes. “You haven’t been…” Another pause. “You haven’t been yourself lately. Really, are you okay?”
Éponine looked up at him, gazing into his eyes for a brief moment before grabbing his face and pulling him into another chaste kiss.
After acting as if he was just processing everything, Enjolras wrapped his arms around her, returning the kiss and letting out a soft, delighted sigh as he kissed her passionately, feeling her fingers thread through his hair. She pulled away for air, gazing into his blue eyes, her breathing shallow.
“I—” Okay, so he seemed to be going with this hoarse–voice thing. She could work with that. (She found it pretty hot, actually.) “Seriously, are you okay?”
Éponine giggled again and pulled him back into the kiss, making sure to not be so forceful this time. After remaining locked in a passionate embrace for several long, beautiful moments, they heard Musichetta yell, “CUT!”
They broke apart yet again, looking Musichetta’s way.
“Better,” she praised, applauding them far more sincerely this time. “Seriously, I can’t get over the chemistry between you two. Can we try that again?”
Twenty-seven takes later, they finally got it right.
Musichetta was bored out of her mind in her seat, watching the same scene play out over and over again as she instructed Éponine and Enjolras about what to do and what not to do. After finally nailing the scene, Musichetta yelled, “That’s it for today, everyone! I’ll see you all tomorrow!”
Éponine laughed to herself as Musichetta stumbled out of the studio, incredibly tired after a long day of filming the same goddamn scene over and over again. The brunette jumped slightly when she felt someone tap her shoulder, whirling around to find Enjolras standing there.
“Up for some Netflix?” he offered, a hopeful smile lighting up his face.
Jesus fuck, he had such an adorable smile.
“Sure, let’s go.” Éponine took his hand, her heartbeat quickening as her hand slipped into his, blissfully unaware of how Enjolras seemed to stop breathing momentarily when he felt her take his hand in hers. As they began to walk off, she stopped for a moment to ask, “Your trailer or mine?”
Enjolras shrugged, not particularly caring about whose trailer they went to. “You choose.”
She gave him a dry, amused look and began to pull him in the direction of his trailer under the excuse “Yours is better than mine, so we’re going there.”
Ten minutes later, the pair were curled up under a thick, woollen blanket, balancing an enormous bowl of popcorn between them as they started their third episode of Doctor Who. Over the course of their previous two episodes, they found themselves gravitating towards each other, and now Éponine’s head was tucked between his head and shoulder as they snuggled up to each other in comfortable silence, munching on handfuls of popcorn. Éponine was quite oblivious to the long, yearning sideways glances Enjolras stole at her, and in turn, he seemed to be heedless of her quick, longing glances at him. The both of them were left thinking their love was unrequited, which disheartened them greatly, but nevertheless, it was comforting to know that at least they were friends. Really good friends. One might even say best friends.
Éponine curled up into him and let out a long sigh of fatigue, exhausted after their long day of filming. Twenty-seven goddamn takes! She wasn’t exactly complaining about getting to kiss Enjolras twenty-seven times, but still!
“Hey, ’Ponine?” he whispered all of a sudden, prompting her to glance up at him.
“Yes, ’Jolras?” she replied tentatively, grabbing another handful of popcorn and shoving it into her mouth.
He thought about his response for a little while before saying, “No, never mind. It’s not important.”
“If you say so.” She took a kernel of popcorn and flicked it at him, laughing at the look on his face.
Oh, that laugh was music to his ears.
He impulsively pressed a kiss to her forehead, making her freeze in shock. She glanced up at him, whispering incredulously, “What was that for?”
“’Ponine, I—” He stopped short, not ready to say it out loud. He didn’t even know if she returned his feelings, for fuck’s sake!
Éponine raised an eyebrow. “Well, don’t leave it there.”
“No, never mind.” Once again, he found himself chickening out, distracting himself with a handful of popcorn as he avoided her gaze.
They sat there together in silence for quite a while, choosing to focus instead on Doctor Who while occasionally sneaking glances at each other, never at the same time. After some time, Enjolras worked up the courage to ask, “So, how do you feel? About all this?”
Éponine glanced up at him and bit her lip, thinking. “Exhausted. I’m so tired.”
She let out an enormous yawn and snuggled closer to Enjolras, wrapping the blanket tightly around them as she absent-mindedly pressed a kiss to his cheek, making his heart skip a few beats. “I—’Jolras, I—”
After yawning once more, she fell asleep before she could finish her sentence, using Enjolras’s shoulder as her pillow.
His breath hitched in his throat at the feeling of her soft, steady breathing and the sound of her gentle snores. His hand went up to his face, feeling the spot where she just drowsily kissed him. He pressed a kiss to her forehead yet again, whispering almost inaudibly, “’Ponine, I…”
He pressed yet another kiss to her forehead, comforted by the sound of her steady breathing, whispering, “I love you.”
Éponine sat in silence and tried not to fidget as her makeup team went about applying makeup to the brunette’s face while her close friend Cosette sat beside her, chattering nineteen to the dozen, already red-carpet ready. The blonde was a childhood friend of Éponine’s and one of Éponine’s co-stars. “Are you excited?” the blonde questioned as Éponine’s hairstylist twisted Éponine’s dark brown locks into a fancy updo, leaving a couple of artfully arranged strands of hair loose to frame her face. “I can’t wait! Have you seen the film yet?”
“No, not yet,” Éponine replied, biting her lip. She absolutely refused to see the final cut before the premiere, wishing for it to be a surprise. She had always liked surprises. The good kind, of course.
“I have!” Cosette chirped, smiling to herself rather knowingly. Éponine narrowed her eyes, rather suspicious of the mischievous look in Cosette’s blue eyes, but thought nothing of it as she let the makeup team do their work.
She stared at herself in the mirror, the heat emanating from the lightbulbs on the frame making her face grow warm. She looked completely unlike herself.
Once the makeup team had finished, one of the makeup artists—a kind young woman with violet hair—took Éponine’s dress off the hanger and held it up. “Do you want to put it on?” she offered, holding it out for Éponine.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Éponine got up, taking her robe off so the woman could help her into the dress. “Ah, fuck!”
Once the purple-haired lady had helped Éponine into the gown, Cosette stood beside the brunette as Éponine stared at herself in the mirror, disbelief registered on her face. “Oh, look at you,” the blonde said, beaming as she observed Éponine and herself in the mirror. “You’re a knockout.”
Éponine stared at herself in the mirror, absolutely speechless. This couldn’t be real.
She was dressed in an absolutely gorgeous, off-the-shoulder scarlet mermaid gown, complete with long lace sleeves. A pair of simple ruby earrings had been clipped onto her ears to match her dress. Underneath her gown, she wore crimson kitten heels which were, much to her surprise, rather comfortable compared to the other heels she had worn to various other premieres. It was nothing too elaborate.
It was perfect.
“Oh, Eppy!” Cosette was now bouncing up and down, causing the skirt of her gown to bounce along with her. “You’re going to knock everyone out with your presence. I just know it.”
“Oh, shush,” Éponine chided, rolling her eyes in amusement at Cosette’s words.
Cosette, on the other hand, had been all dressed up in a strapless baby-blue ball gown, complemented by a diamond choker and earrings and that gorgeous princess-cut engagement ring of hers, with matching blue heels underneath her dress. The blonde had insisted on wearing the charm bracelet her fiancé Marius Pontmercy, a well-known film producer, had given her when they first started dating. Unlike Éponine, Cosette’s hair was down, her curly blonde locks tumbling down her shoulders and framing her heart-shaped face.
“Oh, you look so beautiful,” Cosette sighed, hugging Éponine to her. “Do you have a date?”
Éponine shook her head, pouting slightly in the mirror as she twirled a loose strand of hair around her finger. “No. ’Jolras doesn’t have a date, either. I figured we’d just go together.”
Cosette didn’t fail to note how Éponine’s tone took a considerably happier turn at the mention of Enjolras, and the blonde smiled to herself, seemingly the only one besides Grantaire to have noticed how Éponine and Enjolras were hopelessly pining for each other, each oblivious to the other’s affections.
God, for famous actors, they really could be idiots sometimes.
They were supposed to meet with the rest of the main cast soon to board the limos that were going to take them to the venue of the premiere. Try as she might, Éponine couldn’t help but wonder how Enjolras was going to look.
Cosette noticed the contemplative look on Éponine’s face and enquired lightly, “What are you thinking about?”
“Nothing,” Éponine replied a bit too hastily, only further fanning the flames of Cosette’s suspicions. The blonde grinned when she realised what Éponine was trying to cover up.
“You’re thinking about Enjolras, aren’t you?” the blonde teased, jabbing a well–manicured finger at Éponine’s chest. The scarlet blush that rose to Éponine’s cheeks at Cosette’s words only confirmed her suspicions. “You are!”
“No, I’m not!” Éponine shot back overly defensively, scowling at Cosette. “Come on, we don’t have time to talk about this shit! We have to go meet the others.”
“If you say so,” Cosette replied, a teasing edge to her voice. Éponine rolled her eyes and grabbed Cosette’s wrist, dragging her out of the dressing room to go meet the others where the limos were parked.
Once Éponine caught sight of Enjolras, her breath caught in her throat.
He looked very dapper in his tuxedo, complete with a scarlet bow tie that was the exact same colour as Éponine’s gown. She could feel her heart begin to race in her chest as she noticed all the little things—how his golden curls were left untouched, how that tailor of his had made an excellent decision in making those pants tight in the rear so the world could be graced with the sight of his godly ass, how he rocked back on forth on his feet in a fit of nerves, how his entire face lit up when he laid eyes on Éponine…
She brushed off that last one, firmly believing that it was merely her mind playing tricks on her as she approached him. “Hey,” she whispered, a smile gracing her lips.
Enjolras gave her a smile, breathing in reply, “Hey.”
Enjolras was acutely aware of how his stomach started doing somersaults and how he stopped breathing for a fleeting moment when he set eyes on Éponine. The first coherent thought that came to mind was God, she looks beautiful.
It was all he could do to keep his mouth from falling open at the mere sight of her when he saw her and Cosette approach them. He tried desperately to keep his cool, to not give away the fact that he was utterly enchanted by her despite having been pretty obvious about his affections towards her on set. Then again, back on set, he could have gotten away with it under the guise of it being for the film. Now, there were no good excuses he could come up with to hide the fact that he was very obviously making eyes at her.
She approached him, her cherry lips curving into a somewhat shy smile as she murmured, “Hey.”
“Hey,” he breathed, trying to be discreet in observing her. “You—you look beautiful.”
She looked up at him with wide, surprised eyes as colour bloomed in her cheeks, a dimpled smile on her face. “You look quite handsome yourself,” she replied softly, her brown eyes meeting his blue.
Enjolras’s heart began to race as he offered his arm to Éponine. “Shall we?”
She laughed and took his arm, her hand in the crook of his elbow. “We shall.”
As they boarded the limousine, she questioned, “Have you seen the final cut yet?”
“No,” Enjolras replied, shaking his head. “Why?”
“I haven’t either,” she admitted, biting her lip and smiling, mostly to herself. “We can see it for the first time together.”
Enjolras struggled to compose himself as they sat together in the limousine, unnecessarily close to each other. On the red carpet, he had to keep himself calm and indifferent—his reputation and, more importantly, his privacy depended on it. If he even showed the slightest hint of having feelings towards Éponine, he knew that their faces would be plastered all over the covers of the next several issues of various gossip magazines.
The car ride was uneventful as the limousines made their way to the venue, which was to be a massive cinema with lots of A-list celebrity guests both Éponine and Enjolras didn’t particularly wish to associate with. Éponine found them too affected and stuck-up; Enjolras didn’t have time to waste on airheaded celebrities who seemed to think they were better than everyone else. They’d have to grin and bear it for this one night though—this movie premiere was to be heavily publicised, and they had to be on their best behaviour for the cameras.
Across from them, Cosette and Marius were being disgustingly adorable together, holding hands and giggling about nonsense every five seconds and just making it clear that they were together and very in love. Éponine and Enjolras envied the reciprocation of affection between them, wishing they had what Cosette and her darling fiancé Marius had. Éponine didn’t quite notice the longing sideways glances Enjolras snuck at her, and he was entirely oblivious to her quick, affectionate looks.
Soon enough, the limousines pulled up to the red carpet, and before they knew it, Éponine and Enjolras were soon blinded by the flashing lights of cameras as they put on their best red carpet–worthy smiles, waving elegantly to the crowds of screaming fans and photographers.
They didn’t fail to note how the photographers focused especially on them as they walked down the red carpet arm in arm, Marius and Cosette close behind them. The fans seemed to pick up on the fact that Éponine and Enjolras seemed to be attending the premiere together, and the volume of screaming increased as they whipped out their phones to take amateur photographs of them. Éponine and Enjolras remained calm and collected, frozen smiles on their faces as they posed for the cameras, unaware of the fact that they looked very much like a couple. They were about to make their way into the theatre before Musichetta approached them, all dressed up and looking very fine in her gorgeous imperial purple one-shoulder column dress.
“Hi!” she greeted them breathlessly, absolutely exhilarated. “You two look amazing!”
“Thanks, Chetta,” Éponine replied, a genuine smile gracing her cherry-red lips. “You look pretty gorgeous yourself.”
Musichetta actually turned pink, which somewhat amused Éponine. “Thanks,” Musichetta mumbled, a smile on her glossy lips. “So, are you two excited?”
Enjolras shrugged, smiling at the small director. “Well, we’ll be seeing the film for the first time tonight, so yes.”
“We can’t wait to see how it turned out,” Éponine chimed in, a pretty laugh escaping her lips. Enjolras turned slightly pink at Éponine’s usage of the word ‘we’ instead of simply ‘I’. “I bet it’ll be fantastic.”
Musichetta grinned at them both as if she knew something they didn’t. It didn’t bother neither Éponine nor Enjolras in the slightest, but they couldn’t help wondering what Musichetta was trying to imply with that grin. “Well, I’ll see you around,” the smaller woman told them, turning around to link arms with two good–looking men Enjolras was friends with. “Great chemistry,” Musichetta murmured to herself, her lips curving into a secretive smile as she headed into the theatre with her dates.
Once Musichetta had disappeared from view, Enjolras turned to Éponine to offer her his arm yet again. “Will you please do me the favour of accompanying me into the theatre, Mademoiselle?” he requested mock-formally, evoking a laugh from Éponine.
“As a matter of fact, I will, Monsieur,” she replied, playing along as she took his arm.
Oh, how Enjolras wished he could kiss her hand instead.
The pair entered the enormous theatre, finding their seats and settling down beside each other, waiting patiently for the film to begin. Oh, they couldn’t wait to find out what the final cut actually consisted of.
Ten minutes later, a hush fell over the theatre as the film began to play.
Éponine and Enjolras had not been expecting to see what they saw.
They were glad for the dark hiding their deep red blushes of embarrassment from view, for the film, which was mostly comprised of scenes involving them due to them being the two main stars, consisted nearly entirely of them having eye sex. The way he looked at her, the way she looked at him, the intensely passionate way they kissed each other… it was all too good to be faked. They hoped people would simply write it off as brilliant acting instead of suspecting something going on between them—that would destroy any privacy they currently have.
Enjolras was too busy trying not to hide his face in his hands at the sight of him engaging in eye sex with Éponine on an enormous screen to notice Éponine’s hand slipping into his. Once he realised that their fingers were intertwined, he felt his cheeks burn as he struggled to steady his breathing. Almost too eagerly, he squeezed Éponine’s hand, feeling warmth spread throughout his fingers from the mere feeling of her hand in his. He resisted the urge to bring her hand to his lips to press kisses all over the back of his hand, opting for rubbing circles into her palm instead. He could just hear her tiny contented laugh beside him as he gently rubbed circles into the palm of her hand, his heart soaring at the deliriously happy feeling he got from making her smile.
Éponine felt goosebumps erupt along her skin as she felt Enjolras squeeze her hand once again while continuing to rub circles into her palm. She absolutely loved how perfectly her hand seemed to fit in his, and she considered kissing the back of his hand before deciding against it, thinking that it would be too risky. She simply contented herself with the oddly fulfilling feeling of his hand in hers.
Their hands were still clasped tight once the film ended.
“Should we skip the after-party?” were the first words that came out of Éponine’s mouth once she and Enjolras exited the theatre together, arm in arm once again.
Enjolras stopped in his tracks, surprised at such an offer. He had never particularly liked after-parties, but he could never find anyone willing to ditch with him, so he was forced to endure them. “Do you think we should?” he replied, an uncertain edge to his voice. He was all for ditching; he just needed to make sure Éponine was being serious.
“Yes,” Éponine confirmed without hesitation, a wicked grin breaking out on her face as took his hand, tugging him along to the limo waiting for them. “Come on—if we hurry, they won’t come looking for us.”
They hurried along to the limousine, trying to keep themselves on the down low, unable to keep themselves from laughing madly once they were secure in the limo, on the way back to Enjolras’s penthouse. Éponine doubled over in laughter, nearly crying in mirth. “God, I can’t believe nobody noticed us!” she exclaimed breathlessly in between laughs as the limo rolled out of the parking lot and into the streets, which were strangely empty that night. “I’m never going to another after-party again as long as you’re there.”
“You do realise Musichetta’s going to kill us, right?” Enjolras reminded her, an amused smile playing at his lips.
Éponine brushed it off, making a face and rolling her eyes, laughing. “A small price to pay for not attending what’s bound to be an awkward, painful after-party. Besides, we can get champagne at your place. No need to interact with stuffy celebrities.”
“Good point.” Enjolras leaned back in his seat, letting out a long sigh. “That was… something, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah, it was,” Éponine murmured in reply, sliding down in her seat and turning her head to look at Enjolras. “Hey, ’Jolras?”
“Yes, ’Ponine?” he replied absent-mindedly, twiddling his thumbs.
Éponine hesitated for a brief moment before asking, “How do you feel about Marius and Cosette’s engagement?”
Enjolras stopped twiddling his thumbs and turned his head so they would be looking into each other’s eyes. “I’m happy for them. Why?”
Éponine shrugged. “I don’t know. Sometimes I wish I had what they have.”
“Love?” Enjolras prompted.
Éponine smiled drily at him. “Reciprocated love,” she corrected him, reaching out to pat his chest. “I just—I don’t know. It feels like most love is unrequited these days. I don’t know why I even bothered with all the ‘falling in love’ bullshit.”
She was trying to be subtle. She really was.
“Well, I’m sure you’ll find the one for you one day, ’Ponine,” Enjolras reassured her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder and ignoring the sinking feeling in his stomach at the assumption that he wasn’t the one she was supposedly in love with.
She sighed and gave him a somewhat woeful smile, asking, “Have you ever been in love, ’Jolras?”
Enjolras was rather caught off guard by her question, falling silent for a moment. “Well, only once.” After another brief pause, he decided to risk her finding out by adding, “Actually, I’m still in love right now.”
Éponine’s red lips formed a small ‘O’, an eyebrow raised as she pressed, “Oh? With whom?”
“It doesn’t matter,” he responded a bit too abruptly for her liking, leaving her to wonder who it could possibly be as she tried to overlook the fact that it felt like all the butterflies in her stomach had just died. They spent the rest of the car ride in awkward silence, unable to come up with more words to say to each other.
Later, they found themselves in Enjolras’s enormous living room, sitting on one of his plush couches, still all dressed up and still sitting in painful silence. Éponine had taken her hair out of its updo, taking several minutes to do so, picking all of the hairpins out of her hair one by one, occasionally cursing when one got stuck in her dark chocolate locks. After a while, Enjolras decided to break the silence by murmuring, “So.”
“So,” Éponine echoed, staring straight ahead.
“’Ponine, are you angry at me?” Enjolras asked in concern, scooting closer to her.
“No, no, ’Jolras, I’m fine,” she replied hurriedly, surprisingly unconvincing for an award-winning actress.
“No, ’Ponine, you’re not,” he persisted, placing his hands on her shoulders. “Please just tell me, ’Ponine. You know you can talk to me about anything, right?”
He was completely willing to put aside any heartbreak he may endure for the sake of Éponine’s happiness. He had decided that a long time ago.
She merely avoided eye contact, looking down at her hands in her lap and biting her lip. “It’s nothing, ’Jolras. I’m fine. Everything’s fine.”
“Everything is not fine,” Enjolras contradicted, a little more insistent this time. When she jumped slightly at his tone, he immediately retracted, his voice going soft. “’Ponine, please. You know you can trust me. Right?”
She let out a breathy sigh, looking up to gaze into his eyes. Her eyes flicked to his lips for a millisecond, and she bit her lip. In an instant, she was taking his face into her hands, pressing a forceful kiss to his lips.
Enjolras’s blue eyes widened in shock, unable to process what was happening as his brain short-circuited. The next thing he knew, he was kissing her back equally forcefully, wrapping his arms tight around her waist and pulling her flush against him on the couch as she tangled her fingers in his golden curls. The force of the kiss gradually became gentler as Éponine memorised the feeling of Enjolras’s lips on his and vice versa. When she pulled away, she opened her brown eyes tentatively to find that Enjolras was unable to open his eyes for a few moments, trying to fully process what just happened.
“’Ponine,” he murmured hoarsely, his blue eyes fluttering open to gaze into her brown. “What was that?”
“It’s you, ’Jolras,” she confessed, caressing his cheek. “I—I’m in love with you.”
“Kiss me,” he requested, his voice low and husky and rather unintentionally seductive. Éponine obliged.
She pulled him back into another chaste kiss, her hands still cupping his face as he gently pressed his hands into her waist, pulling her closer to him. Everything around them fell away, and the only thing he could focus on was the feeling of her soft lips on his. After several long moments in which they remained kissing each other fervently, she pulled away, her thumb tracing his lips as she gazed at him, her eyes flicking to his lips every so often.
“’Ponine, I’m in love with you,” he told her quietly, the smile on his face growing bigger by the second. She laughed softly and leaned in, resting her forehead against his, her eyes half closed as she took it all in.
Is this what it feels like to have your love reciprocated? Éponine wondered, butterflies exploding in her stomach.
Enjolras leaned up to meet her lips in another gentle kiss, murmuring against her lips, “I love you.”
Oh, she had longed to hear those words from him for such a long time now.
She readily kissed him back, threading her fingers through his hair and pulling his face closer to hers. The only thing that mattered to them was each other, how his lips moved against hers, how raw and real and right it felt. She could feel how he smiled into the kiss, and she laughed quietly once again, her lips curving into a smile against his lips as she whispered into the kiss:
“I love you.”

Casual Cuddling
Loosely based on @otpisms‘ OTP Idea #828: Imagine Person A of your OTP trying to sneak into their significant others house, Person B, without their parents knowing.
Honestly, I don’t even know what I’m writing anymore. This was supposed to be a drabble, but somehow ended up over 2k words long. My writing might also be getting progressively worse, I’m not sure, but here’s something for you guys anyways since not much has been posted on here. Sorry for the lowkey door puns at the end...
Also expect to see this on my Of Rice and Pens collection on FFN sometime in the future.
Ritsu groaned as she felt the reverberations of her phone vibrate through her pillow. The girl had passed out again after talking to her best friend late at night.
Who the hell’s calling me right now? Ritsu complained to herself as she lazily slid a hand under her pillow to retrieve the pestering device. Sliding the phone open, Ritsu squinted against the phone’s light to check the caller ID.
[2:23am Incoming Call: Dangerous Queen]
Mio? What is she still doing up? The drummer thought to herself. Both of them still had school the next morning, and usually it was the bassist herself who berated Ritsu for staying up too late and sleeping in when they had to get to school. Squeezing her eyes shut from the pain of the artificial light, she pressed the answer button and pressed the phone to her ear.
The drummer grumbled something to acknowledge her presence on the line, but was barely able to formulate her syllables properly from the drowsiness.
“Ritsu, are you awake?” Even when half conscious, Ritsu could still hear the uneasiness of her voice.
Ritsu answered in a grumble that neither confirmed nor denied the question.
“Why,” her sentence was cut off with a long yawn, “why are you calling me so late?”
“I-I just couldn’t sleep. And I know you, you probably passed out again when you didn’t reply to my text but… I don’t know. I just needed someone to talk to.”
Ritsu knew that Mio would occasionally have trouble sleeping, caused by either her social anxiety or her never-ceasing thoughts.
“What’s up?” Ritsu forced herself to sit up so that she wouldn’t fall asleep on her friend while she was talking. Mio began spilling out what was on her mind. She wasn’t particularly anxious about anything, but she had be so worked up about needing to write new songs for the band and college entrance exams that her mind was on stuck on overdrive. Ritsu simply had an ear to lend and would soak in everything the bassist said, knowing that through the venting and ranting Mio would eventually run herself to exhaustion.
Except tonight, it seemed that Mio’s thoughts were particularly rampant. Everything she said would segway to a new thread of thoughts and the girl would go on tangent after tangent. Ritsu knew that at this rate, neither of them would get any sleep. There had to be a way for Ritsu to get her childhood friend to calm down enough to get a little bit of rest. The drummer glanced at her bedside clock.
[3:04am]
Ritsu frowned. Mio had been talking on for over half an hour and it didn’t sound like she was stopping any time soon. The drummer was actually surprised, it was rare for the bassist to be this talkative. But, she couldn’t bring herself to ask the dark-haired girl to stop. Ritsu knew that even if she told Mio to sleep, odds were that Mio would just end up lying awake drowning herself in her own thoughts and at best getting restless sleep.
An idea popped into the brunette’s head. She continued to acknowledge the girl on the other end of the phone line, but proceeded to sneak down to her front door and slip on some shoes. Mio’s house was not far, probably a ten minute walk at best from her own house. Ritsu knew she would get there before Mio was able to tire herself out.
Mio couldn’t figure out why her thoughts would not stop reeling tonight. Even after she realized Ritsu had fallen asleep during their text conversation, Mio couldn’t get herself to fall asleep. She had given up trying to fall asleep and got up from her bed, maybe she could expel her thoughts if she tried to write lyrics for a new song. But even with all the thoughts rampaging in her head, she had trouble formulating the ideas into lyrics that flowed nicely. She began getting rather aggravated at herself for her inability to compose and control her own thoughts. Random ideas would fly in but would lose momentum and die out just as fast. The bassist couldn’t keep her mind on any one particular thing, but she also couldn’t get the stream of consciousness to stop
At that point, Mio decided to call her childhood friend. In hindsight, it probably would have been better for Mio to allow the drummer to sleep; but unless she vented out her thoughts to someone, she probably wouldn't be able to sleep at all tonight.
It was understandable that Ritsu did not put much input in the conversation, Mio was not expecting the drummer to do so. The girl answered the phone half asleep and Mio had initially called simply hoping that her rambling would eventually tire herself out. She knew that Ritsu understood that much when the drummer didn’t flat out tell her to go to sleep and hang up. But it had been almost an hour and Mio’s thoughts were still driving at full speed. She had no concept of how long she had actually had been talking until the girl on the other end of the phone line suddenly cut her off.
“Mio.” Ritsu’s voice was more firm than when she had originally picked up the phone, though a hint of drowsiness still shone through.
“Huh?” Mio glanced at her wall clock.
[3:17am]
“I’m so sorry. How long have I been talking? Crap, we still have school tomorrow, and we need to sleep. I’ve kept you up with my rambling, I’m sorry. I just thought that saying it to someone would help me-”
“Mio, stop. I know. But could you open the door?”
Mio halted immediately. Her thoughts blanked out for the first time that night. Open the door? Why would I open the door?
“Is this another prank? Cause if it is, I’m not falling for it. Scaring me is not going to help me fall asleep, you know that.”
Mio heard a tired sigh come from the phone line.
“No, Mio. I’m outside, and it’s kinda cold. Please open the door for me?”
“RITSU!” Mio couldn’t scream, as her parents were asleep, but the same harshness still cut through even in her hushed tone. “What are you doing at my house?! It’s the middle of the night!”
The bassist stood from her bed and carefully exited her room, not wanting to cause too much noise as she made her way down the stairs to the front door as Ritsu provided an explanation over the phone.
“You didn’t seem like you were going to stop; and besides, I know even if I told you to stop and go to sleep, you probably wouldn’t. So I came to make sure you went to sleep.”
Mio opened the door and glared daggers at the drummer. Ritsu came simply in her pajamas and gave a wide grin to the bassist.
“Just get in here, idiot.”
Mio moved out of the way to let Ritsu in, planting her fist into the drummer’s skull as the latter passed through. The latter released a whimper of pain but proceeded to climb the staircase as she nursed her head wound. The two snuck back into Mio’s room and shut the door behind them.
“Did you even think this through?” Mio scolded the drummer. “You didn’t even bring anything with you! You know we have school tomorrow, and you don’t have your uniform.”
Ritsu yawned and waved it off. “It’ll be fine. I’m pretty sure I left my other uniform here the last time I came over.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Cause it’s in a pile over there in the corner where I always leave my stuff when I’m over.”
Mio looked over her shoulder, and among all of the clutter in the bassist’s room, there in the corner was Ritsu’s extra uniform. It was still dirty and wrinkled from getting tossed there, but that was something they would have to figure out in the morning.
All Mio could do was roll her eyes and began to move toward her closet to grab the extra futon. Ritsu managed to stop her with a grab at the wrist.
“Oh no you don’t. You’re getting in that bed and going to sleep.”
“But what about-”
“Mio we’ve shared a bed countless of times since we were kids. It’s also past 3:30 in the morning and I just want to pass out at this point. Not to mention you need to sleep too and I’m going to make sure you do. Now get in that bed woman.”
Mio could only grumble as a response to the drummer’s demands but proceeded to heed them. The two made their way under the covers of Mio’s bed. The two said their good nights and Ritsu quickly nodded off to sleep in her exhaustion. So much for making sure Mio went to sleep properly.
Mio was still slightly restless. Her thoughts were now dominated with worries of how they would deal with Ritsu’s sudden idea to sleep over. How would she explain to her parents why Ritsu was here? What about Ritsu’s uniform? Would they even wake up on time? It was already so late. Mio couldn’t help but brace herself for the consequences of this whole ordeal.
Next to her, Ritsu laid sleeping soundly, as if she hadn’t even gotten up and walked to Mio’s house in the middle of the night. Her breathing was slow and shallow, but had put Mio into a calming spell. The raven-haired girl couldn’t help but smile at Ritsu’s antics. Though some of her ideas could be spontaneous, the drummer did show some concern for the bassist’s health every so often. Hell, the girl walked down a couple blocks in the middle of the night dressed only in her pajamas just to make sure Mio went to sleep properly.
Mio found herself getting drowsy quite easily in the company of her childhood friend. Perhaps it was the comfortable warmth radiating from the body sleeping next her her. It wasn’t quite winter yet, but the chill was starting to set in. Mio would never admit it to anyone else, but having Ritsu around gave her such comfort that even being in her presence would give Mio a sense of security. Ritsu was like an anchor that kept Mio rooted to reality, ensuring that she wouldn’t fly away in her own thoughts.
Eventually, the drowsiness and exhaustion set in and soon enough Mio nodded off to sleep as well, sleeping soundly without her raging thoughts invading her dreams. She dreamt of the stars and floating in space, freely floating in the void. From her position, she had the freedom to explore the vast expanse of the universe if she so freely chose to do so. She dreamt of looking at Earth from above, how close yet so strikingly far away she was from it. She swam within the vacuum of space, but not toward the stars far beyond, but back toward the terrestrial planet. She felt herself falling into the gravity of Earth, though her descent was a gentle free-fall. As she fell, she could see another object falling, just several meters below her. Mio was unsure of what it was, but was compelled to reach out to it. It seemed to reach out to her as well and when the two found each other’s embrace, Mio felt complete. She sought to savor the moment, the feeling of contentment. But a distant, constant beeping began to intrude her tranquility. Muffled beeps became louder, more aggressive, more intruding.
*Beep Beep Beep*
Mio awoke quite annoyed. She was rarely ever grumpy waking up, but today was an exception. Mio slammed the snooze button on her alarm clock without so much as opening an eye and turned over to her other side hoping to catch a few extra minutes of sleep. She already forgot what she had been dreaming of, but it seemed to be a good one, considering how reluctant she was with wanting to be pulled out of it. Instinctively, she reached out hoping to cuddle with a body pillow she kept on her bed and was quite surprised to find it much warmer this morning. Sighing contently, Mio snuggled in closer and let herself fall back asleep.
Ritsu laid undisturbed by both the alarm clock and the bassist cuddling into her. The two continued to sleep until mid-morning, when Ritsu finally woke up and realizing how intimate their sleeping arrangement had become and promptly freaking out, waking the bassist. They freaked out more when the two checked the clock to find that classes had already started two hours prior. It seemed that when Mio went to snooze her alarm clock, she actually turned the alarm off completely and both were too exhausted (and comfortable) to wake up on time.
With the frenzy of rushing to school, the awkwardness of their casual cuddling was quickly forgotten. Ritsu had don her wrinkly uniform but then realized she still needed her school bag. The two had to make an extra detour to the Tainaka household for Ritsu to change into a more presentable uniform and grab her school bag. Luckily her parents had already left for work and Satoshi was already in school.
The events of that morning was again brought up when Yui asked why the two were so late to school during club activities. At the thought of remembering, the drum and bass pair quickly donned embarrassed faces. Ritsu answered in their defense, saying that they had stayed up late talking and accidentally slept in. The details involving their cuddling each other was left unmentioned. Yui let it go as is, however Azusa held a confused look. Meanwhile, Mugi seemed to be in bliss for a reason none of the other girls could decipher.
On their walk home, both agreed to forget about the ideal and never bring it up again. But, despite their outward denial, such an intimate interaction could not be easily forgotten, and only served to open the door for a romance to blossom in the coming years.

It wasn’t that Molly actually disliked William, but he was mean. He was rude and arrogant and he made everything all about him and she...well, he wasn’t very pleasant. But she didn’t pick on him like the other children did and she didn’t say mean things about him, either behind his back or to his face. She was better than that, and she thought he deserved better even if he was a meanie.
But that didn’t mean she wanted to spend all day at the zoo by his side, either.
"I know, but he’s your partner for this,” her teacher said, gently nudging her towards the boy with the unruly mop of hair. She sighed and then went over to him. It wasn’t often she got fun things, not with her father sick, and she wasn’t about to let William ruin this special trip to London to go to the zoo for her.
“Hi,” she said, going up to him and extending her hand. He looked at it warily and then shook it, not greeting her in return. Well, the silence was better than meanness, she supposed. She looked around a moment and then back at him. “Where do you want to start?
“The pengwings,” he said. He looked at her almost defiantly, expecting her to laugh at his mispronunciation of the word but she smiled and grasped his hand, as their teacher had instructed they do, and nodded.
“Pengwings it is,” she said. They made their way to the enclosure housing the penguins, walking at a nice steady pace. Oh, she’d like to see the big cats, the lions and tigers and all that, but it could wait. Let William enjoy himself, too.
“Why are you being nice?” he asked suspiciously, though he didn’t let go of her hand.
She shrugged. “I want to have a good time. I’m sure you don’t want to be miserable. If we start off on the wrong foot, we’ll both hate today, and what’s the point in that? There’s lots of lovely animals to see and all sorts of facts to learn.” She turned and gave him a smile. “I think I might like to work in a zoo. Dunno.”
“I know a lot of animal facts,” William said, as though he was hesitant to admit it.
“Well, you are the most brilliant boy in class,” she said, her smile getting brighter. “I’d expect you would.”
He gave her a little smile, noting more than just the tiniest of smiles, but it made her feel today would go well after all. “Do you want to hear them?”
She nodded emphatically. “Absolutely. Do you know a lot about pengwings?”
“I do,” he said.
“Then I can’t wait to learn.” She pulled at his arm and they dashed off towards the enclosure now, checking the map every so often but stopping to look at interesting things. She’d brought a bit of spending money but William had more, and he ended up treating her to ice lollies and fizzy drinks and buying her a pretty necklace with a tiger charm outside where the big cats were when she didn’t have quite enough. She almost kissed his cheek in thanks but thought better of it in the end.
And they talked, all day, about loads of things. William shared animal facts with her and she filed them away for future importance, should she need them as a zookeeper, and she told him about her father being sick and he told her about his family being prats and how he wished he could run away and she told him anytime, come to her house, he’d always be welcome. The smile on his face at that told her her mum and dad wouldn’t mind her extending the offer too much.
Soon it was almost time to go, time for one last trip to see an animal, and they decided on the penguins again. It seemed most appropriate. Molly fiddled with her new necklace around her neck and then looked at him. “Are they your favourite?” she asked.
He nodded. “They look dapper and...” He shook his head but it was smiling. “It’s silly.”
“No it’s not!” she said with a laugh. She looked at him and impulsively kissed his cheek. “I think pengwings are awesome.”
He froze and then blushed. “I think you’re awesome too,” he said, reaching for her hand again. Unlike before, he threaded his fingers through hers and she found, as she moved closer to him, watching the penguins play, she liked this very much.

An Unorthodox Proposal
Written for OTP Idea #370 on @otpisms: Your OTP only getting married for tax benefits. Also inspired by the story hoʻokāne by Siria (which is great and everyone should go read).
Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 (2010) Pairing: Steve/Danny Rating: T (only for language) Word Count: 1520 Notes: Set after 7.18, so some spoilers for the latest episode. For the purposes of this story, Steve and Danny are conveniently single.
Since Danny had started working for Five-0, he had gotten used to all kinds of crazy things happening, from faked tsunamis to nuclear bombs that had to be discharged in the middle of a jungle. Danny could typically roll with the insane and unexpected things that happened on cases these days.
But he had never expected Steve to just enter his office on an ordinary Tuesday morning and declare, “We should get married.”
Danny, flummoxed at this random proposal, just said “What?!” His voice may have squeaked a little, because seriously, what the hell was going on? If Danny hadn’t been quite so surprised, he might have launched into a rant about how you have to at least date someone for a few months before you can ask them to marry you. You can’t just suddenly, out of the blue, propose to your best friend without even kissing them first.
But then Steve sat across the desk from Danny and produced paperwork. All kinds of paperwork detailing the “logical” benefits of marriage.
“It just makes sense for us, Danno,” Steve said, as if he was being the reasonable one. Danny was starting to wonder if maybe being in the SEALs or having this job had impacted Steve more than anyone thought. Danny was used to his partner's harebrained schemes, but this plan showed that Steve had finally cracked and lost whatever vestiges of sanity he had.
Steve showed Danny how much they would each save on taxes if they got married. He pulled out an “estimated” calculation for Danny, who questioned how his partner knew how much he had to pay in income taxes each year.
“I talked to a financial planner,” Steve replied, as if that was a totally normal thing to do.
He went through more paperwork, explaining how marrying Danny would mean that Steve would still be entitled to visitation with Danny's kids in the event that something bad happened to him. They would also both have next-of-kin benefits in the event that either of them ended up in the hospital. Steve ran through the other legal benefits, and Danny's head was swimming by the end of his speech. Steve had obviously discussed this with some kind of attorney.
“Plus, think about it this way. When we open Steve’s, you can say that you named the restaurant after your husband. That would be a better story than saying you named it after your friend, and it will probably get us more business.”
Danny was too stunned to even protest naming his hypothetical retirement restaurant after Steve. Hell, in the grand scheme of things, this wasn't that different from how things went with them. Steve made Danny his partner, and now he was apparently going to make him husband as well. Naming Danny's restaurant after himself was just part of his typical tendency to end up controlling Danny's life.
“Of course, you can keep seeing other people,” Steve continued. “It's not like I'm going to tie you down just because we're technically married.”
Danny wouldn't admit to it, but his heart shattered at the idea of being only “technically married” to Steve. He had tried to not let his unrequited feelings for his partner extend to thinking about actually marrying him, but Danny had to admit that a sham marriage was the exact opposite of the hopes and dreams he had attempted to ignore.
Something of what he felt must have shown on his face, because Steve patted him on the shoulder in a comforting manner. “I know it's a big decision, so I'll give you some time to think about it, buddy.”
Buddy, right. Danny had to get that through his head.
Once the day began, Steve just treated it like a normal day at the office, like he hadn't just asked Danny to marry him. It only made Danny feel worse, honestly, and he was a lot more quiet than he would normally be. When he wasn't focusing on their current case, he was pondering how exactly to tell Steve he couldn't marry him without giving away his feelings.
Steve was right, in that the “marriage” would end up saving them money and would provide a number of legal benefits, some of which would make life easier for Danny. But Danny couldn't marry Steve for such cold, unemotional reasons.
By the time the team was eating lunch, Danny was feeling too sick to touch his shrimp. He kept imagining a bizarre, fake marriage to Steve and wondering what would become of his life. Would they have to lie to all of their friends and loved ones, letting them think they were “in love” while privately acting like platonic friends? Danny didn't think he could do that.
“Hey, are you all right?” Chin asked. “You seem kind of off today.”
He gave Chin the best, most reassuring smile he could. “I'm fine.” He shot a quick, annoyed glare at Steve. “Just have a lot of things on my mind today.”
Danny was still in a state of heartbroken confusion throughout the afternoon. He was finishing up some paperwork after the end of the case, when it suddenly hit him. “Son of a bitch,” he said to himself.
He stormed into Steve's office, closing the door behind him and locking it. He didn't want any of their coworkers to witness this particular conversation. “You said I could see other people? How the fuck do you think that's going to work?”
Steve, who was sitting at his desk, frowned up at Danny. “Well, being married might cut into your dating pool somewhat, but I think if you just explain the situation--”
"Explain the situation? What exactly is the situation, Steven? Apparently, I can see other people, but you can’t?!” Danny paced in front of Steve's desk, too wound up to just stand like a normal human. “Through that entire conversation, it was all ‘we’ and ‘us,’ even when it came to things like the restaurant or my children. But you get to that topic, and then suddenly it's all about me?!"
Steve looked nervous. He glanced away. “I told you, Danny, I don’t want to tie you down.”
“But you’re willing to tie yourself down?” Danny sighed and steepled his hands together. “Babe, please, just tell me what's going on.”
“I can’t,” Steve muttered. He was staring at the desk as if it held the answers to all of the questions in the universe.
Danny shook his head. “Why not?”
Steve's gaze darted up to Danny's face and away again. He didn’t say anything, but he didn't need to. The depth of pain in that glance, brief as it was, was enough to make Danny feel like his entire world had just been flipped upside down.
“You... you don't want to see other people, do you? Steve, that’s--”
“Look, can we just not talk about this?” Steve crossed his arms and stared up into Danny's eyes. “Just because I have... feelings... It doesn't have to change anything.”
Danny smiled sadly. He could tell that Steve actually believed that his own feelings were somehow irrelevant. He knew Steve could be a self-sacrificing idiot at times, but this was just ridiculous.
Danny walked closer and perched on the edge of Steve's desk. “I have conditions.”
Steve looked confused. “Conditions?”
Danny nodded, privately enjoying that he was going to be the one to surprise Steve for once. “I’ll marry you, but you have to take me out for dinner first. And it has to be real. None of this ‘we can see other people’ crap.”
Steve released a happy laugh. “You’re serious.”
“As a heart attack, babe.”
Steve stood up. “If I had known it would be this easy, I wouldn’t have prepared that big speech.”
Danny grinned. “You didn’t have to talk to that financial planner or lawyer either.”
“I guess not.” Steve stepped closer, and his hand hovered over Danny's shoulder like he was shy about touching him. Danny had never seen this side of Steve before, and it was beyond adorable. “If... uh... if you want it to be real, that means I can kiss you, right?”
Danny chuckled. “You can.”
As Steve leaned in and finally kissed him, Danny reflected that the entire course of events that had transpired today was kind of crazy. But Danny was going along with it, so he must be kind of crazy too. He let his eyes close as he returned the kiss and decided that he was fine with being crazy if it got him everything he had ever wanted.
Steve broke the kiss and beamed at Danny. He looked happier than Danny had ever seen him. He sat back down in his chair and did something on his computer.
“Babe, what are you up to?”
Steve seemed very focused on whatever he was doing. “Looking up where we'll go for dinner and booking an online reservation.” He smirked over at Danny. "That was part of your conditions, right?"
Danny laughed. “Right. That was basically my only condition.”
Steve winked at Danny. “I better go ahead and book that reservation then.”

Cold Fury, Frozen Panic
OTP Idea #747; Imagine Person A trudging through a blizzard because they just really wanna see Person B.
The prompt is from the awesome otpisms. It’s just under 3000 words. Hopefully this will spell us getting back to our normal posting schedule :)
Ash has been pacing all day, she was meant to be back by now but the runes the Yeurtas throw said there was a snow storm coming. He shouldn’t worry he knows, Amy isn’t nearly as stupid as people think and, more importantly, Stefan is with her and he’s cautious, almost to a fault. None of this made him feel any better, these huge bouts of worry he gets about Amy can’t be healthy but he can’t help it. All the time he’s known Amy he’s slowly started pinning his hopes and dreams on her. He’d never tell her that of course, that’s a lot of pressure, especially when you already have a dangerous and stressful line of work.
A knock on the door makes his heart lift and he runs to it, ripping it almost off it’s hinges to to see Stefan on the other side. The halfling looks around at every corner of Ash’s room and between the crack of the door. Normally Ash would be insulted at someone craning their neck into his abode but that’s just the way Stefan is.
“Hullo Ash, I’m here with Amy’s pay for the job. When she didn’t meet me at the ford I assumed her long shanks got here first since I got a little distracted. She gone back out?” The halfling said a lot but it doesn’t explain anything, why weren’t they together? What did Stefan get distracted with? Amy wouldn’t leave him behind so why did he leave her behind.
“Where is she?” Ash says, taking a worried glance out the window, the sky is completely white, that snow will be coming down any moment.
“I thought she was with you. We parted ways in the morning when we came across an orchard around Brunsholden, I wanted to visit a cousin nearby so we parted ways and said we’d meet back on the road but I lost track of time and was late. I just assumed Amy went on ahead. I only just got back, picked up our pay and came straight here.” The halfling looks concerned now, and so he should be, Amy would have waited and gone back for him. Stefan should have done the same.
“Which orchard?”
“Err...the one upstream from Brunsholden.”
Ash remembers where it is, when they were there last it took a full half hour to persuade Amy not to ‘scrump’ the orchard. He grabs his heavy coat and gloves before flying down the stairs.
“I’ll just leave her money in The Shore Leave then!” The halfling calls out.
He could shove the money up his arse for all Ash cares. If finding Amy wasn’t so important he’d have cut him from ear to ear. Rational Ash would have reminded him that Stefan would have put a bolt in him before he even drew a dagger but rational Ash is still pacing upstairs. This is angry, worried and afraid Ash and he’s heading outside as thick flakes of snow mixed with heavy pellets of ice cascade around him.
He’s barely out the walls before the storm hits proper and visibility is only a few meters. Rational Ash probably has a scalding for him when he gets back but he needs to get to Amy. Snow has covered him by the time he gets to the ford which thankfully isn’t underwater. What he’s not thankful for is that he’s turning south and into the wind. It stings his face and keeps his eyes from opening fully, his clothes have become heavy and he’s starting to shiver. Through most of his memory Ash has cursed the amount of fire magic stored within him but today he wishes he had more so he can melt away this cursed storm.
He doesn’t know how long he’s been walking before he sees the first building of what he hopes is Brunsholden. The road had disappeared long ago along with the feeling in his face. The building is a farmhouse from what he can tell, with no smoke coming from the chimney. Either no one's home or they all froze to death in the storm. Ash wonders how people don’t freeze to death in the normal winter weather so the latter is likely. Right now, he’d like nothing more than to go inside, light up the fire and warm up, well almost nothing more, the thought of finding Amy still pushes him forward.
More houses come in and out of view from either side, thank Melora for his sense of direction, all this time he was just hoping he was heading south. These buildings have smoke rising from them, and Ash can almost hear the crackling of fires within. A warm, roaring fire, with a glass of that spiced wine Amy gave him last moon for the Wintersend. He’s on a large, comfortable chair with Amy strewn across him quietly dozing on his lap. This is a happy place. In all the planes, there is nowhere he’d rather be, with wine, warmth, Amy, and his legs in a bucket of ice water.
The cold is painful but it draws him out of his dream. Ash is standing in the middle of the stream that runs through the village. He musters up all his strength to pull himself out of the water but he’s shivering uncontrollably and he can hear his teeth chatter over the wind. He begins his gruelling trudge upstream. Ash remembers clearly thinking as he entered the village how he couldn’t get any colder, apparently, he was wrong. At least he knows the orchard isn’t far from the village, only half a kilometre. Something suddenly occurs to him. Amy won’t be at the orchard, she loves apples but not enough to stay out in a blizzard. Going there is pointless, she could be anywhere, best case scenario, she found shelter, worst whatever happened on the job has put her in a danger they never expected. This is why he should always listen to rational Ash, he’s walking blind through a blizzard, feet soaking wet and shivering constantly, to look for Amy in a place she is definitely not.
He needs to find shelter for himself now, he’d be useless to Amy dead and he still has his duty to OldRed to uphold. He’s such an idiot. Ash turns around and follows the stream back, the wind forces him to keep his head down so all he can see is the stream and his sodden boots. He hasn’t taken two steps before something catches his eye, something metal sticking out where the snow isn’t as thick near a stream. A shuriken! He lets out a puff for frosty breath. Clean, no blood, no dings and more importantly this was dropped on the ground, not thrown. It was left as a marker, not thrown as a weapon. Now he needs to decide on a direction, all that one marker says is that she was here, not where she went. Ash’s mind is fuzzy from the cold but he needs to concentrate, Amy might actually be in trouble and right now he’s the only help she’d get. Wet, shivering help but it might be better than nothing.
His hand heats up and it makes his skin prickle, he’s never used his fire in such cold weather before and the exertion is making his head swim. Ash keeps putting more energy into his hand until the glowing ball of flame is the size of his palm. The drow visualises his fire as a blade, a sword fit for giants cutting through the blizzard and then pushes the energy out. What he imagined only lasts for a moment and looks more like a beam than a sword, it did its purpose either way. His magic leaves a great gouge, over ten meters long, through the snow heading back towards the village. The smoking gap in the white reveals nothing, no shuriken, or any other sign of Amy, just scorched grass.
He has to make a decision, back towards the village or back towards the white unknown. Hardly a decision, assuming Amy lost time gorging herself on apples she would have went inside and she’s likable enough for people just to take her in. Step after painful step Ash drags himself back towards the village proper, cursing his folly of a ‘rescue’. Amy is one of the most capable people he knows and now it looks like he’s going to be the one who needs help.
He sees a tree in the distance. Distance, the word makes him laugh, it’s only a few meters away but in this snow, it feels like kilometres. It’s not much but at least it will be a small reprieve from the blizzard, something to get his bearings on and work out where he is and where he’s going. Ash drags himself under the boughs, even though the branches are bare there are enough of them to protect himself somewhat. Ash leans against the wood in hopes of heat coming from the only living thing he’s seen in hour. Nothing. He knows it’s stupid but he spreads himself out as much as possible around the trunk only to be rewarded by a sharp pain in his hand.
Ash pulls his hand back and looks at the hole in his glove and the sticky blood pouring through the gap, funny it didn’t hurt that much, not enough the bleed anyway. There is nothing he can do with the hand right now, taking off the glove would be stupid, so his best hope is for the blood to freeze shut. Gods, he can already feel the cold cutting into his hand sharper and more painful than whatever caused the injury. What caused the injury? Ash peers around the tree to see a second throwing star embedded in the tree. For a moment, he forgets about the cold, the wet, the numbness and his new bleeding hand. The shuriken is hope. Ash now has two points of reference, he knows a trajectory.
He thinks for a moment, feeling optimistic from his new painful discovery. If he was going to get caught in a blizzard he’d go to the closest house, if they wouldn’t let him in he’d either kill them or move to the next house depending on their manners. He peers into the white abyss, making out barely visible shadows of houses. He knows where he is. Amy tried to ambush him from this tree when they were passing through, behind him is the bridge leading south and in front of him is the main road through. He must have walked past dozens of houses getting here but was too wrapped up in his fantasy to notice. Amy MUST be in one of those houses and knowing her it’ll be marked with another shuriken.
Ash gathers his strength, all he needs to do now is get moving, she’s out there and not even far away. He just needs to move his leg forward, get the first step. It doesn’t respond. He tries his other one, putting all his remaining will into it, but that is being equally resistant. He even tries pushing himself from the tree hoping the forward momentum would get his legs working again but he doesn’t have the strength. The cold has rendered him useless and pathetic, beyond help and hope. He feels weak, the icy hunger of the sky eating at him through the hole in his glove, consuming his strength, and all he wants to do it sit down. That might be a good idea, if he sits down he can restore his strength maybe even close his eyes for a minute or two. He shakes, damn it Ash, it’s only been a few hours and you’re already suffering from that level of hypothermia. City life has made you soft. He’s heard the Yuertan’s tell tales of pushing through terrible conditions through sheer force of will, the thought of family or even revenge. Right now, Ash’s leg moves out of embarrassment, not in the nine hells is he going to be found dead in a tiny village from a snowstorm because he was looking for an apple mad halfling.
Step after step he pushes through, even after a few meters the tree is a distant memory, right now he’s completely focussed on the white silhouette slowly gaining definition in front of him. It’s hard going and ice slowly creeps up his arm. That icy pain and the constant ache in his legs is all he can feel now, everything else has been replaced with the white fluff that’s falling all around him and the image of that house. Closer, he sees smoke rising from the chimney, closer still there is a soft light seeping out of the cracks in the shutters. The storm is stopping him getting there, the storm hates him, the storm wants to eat him bit by bit until there is nothing left. He trudges on, fighting through his arch-nemesis, battling wind and wrestling with snow. A door takes shape in front of him, leaking a warm glow that could have made Ash smile if his lips weren’t frozen and buried right in the frame is a metal disk sharpened to a fine edge. He’s now close enough to hear noises coming from the other side. The sound is amazing, he forgot anything could sound like something other than wind.
Bleeding hand clutched in his arm pit the other tries the door, locked. Ash knocks and there are more noises, footsteps coming towards him. I win storm, fuck you. The clank of metal and the creak of hinges. The door open and heat hits him hard, too hard, his face is burning, it hurts but it’s good. The person behind the door is a young human man, taller than Ash, face looking at him concerned. The man’s mouth moves and sound comes out. Ash can’t make sense of it. He looks into the hot space, a woman, and a fire, crowded with children, lots of infants and an older one. That’s not a child that’s… “Amy?” He says at the rapidly approaching floor.
“Ash? Can you hear me? Ash?”
He’s been blurring in and out of consciousness from somewhere between a few hours and forever. His entire body aches like his bones are trying to turn themselves inside out. He doesn’t know where he is, it’s either too hot or too cold and no matter how he feels he’s constantly damp with the torrent of sweat coming from him. Voices come and go, some familiar, others not. He remembers rough hands and water, he remembers soft hands and soup. He also remembers strange dreams of times long past and comrades long dead. Clashing wooden beasts and deep dark caves leading into the unknown. The voice in his ear at the moment is the first clear word he’s heard in a long time.
“Eugh.” He tries to speak but his throat is closed with dry phlegm and searing pain.
“Hush Ash, here” Warm water dribbles gently into his mouth. “You’re ok. I’ve got you.” Amy is over him; his vision is blurry but he’d recognise those warm brown eyes anywhere.
“Amy?” It sounds more like a gasp than words but it’s the best he can manage
“Shh. Everything is fine. You were caught in the blizzard but you’re safe and warm now. Here, try some more water.” His head is lifted up a little and a warm waterskin is pushed to his lips.
Ash opens his sore lips just enough to let the liquid flow into his mouth. He tries to clear his mind as he swallows the tiny bit of water. Too quickly, the waterskin is taken away.
“Where are we?”
“Brunsholden. Don’t worry about that. You’ve been out for more than a day and you need to rest.” A soft warm cloth is dabbed against his brow.
Brunsholden? Now he remembers, the storm, Amy being missing, Stefan’s impending death. Gods, what was he thinking? He blundered into a storm like some kind of land sprog, if they have such things. Now he’s lying helpless in some stranger's house being looked after by the person he set out to help. The ridiculousness of the situation is not lost on him.
“Are you hungry? I’ve been trying to feed you soup, but you kept throwing it back at me. Quite literally.”
He doesn’t remember any of this, “I am sorry.” He’s such a fool and doesn’t deserve her kindness.
“There’s nothing to be sorry for. Here, it’s potato. It might ease your throat.” Amy frowns and lifts his head onto her leg. “It’s been warmed a few times.” Before he can say anything, a spoon is placed onto his lips. His stomach is in turmoil from the warm water but he sips at the spoon. It tastes disgusting but he thinks that’s the fever affecting his taste buds.
After a short while of feeding him in silence, Amy speaks. “You had me scared for a while there Ash. Please don’t do that again.”
He feels terrible, not just from the fever but from making her scared and imposing on a family and possibly scaring their children. Ash looks at Amy’s face, beautiful beyond reason, now covered with a mask of concern. His idiocy did this to her.
“Amy.” He pushes out of his raw throat. “If you are missing it would take more than a blizzard to stop me from looking for you.”

Josh 2.0
Pairing - Josh x Y/N
Warnings - Like a swear?
Requested - yEs “Hello! I love your Work! Its so creative, do you think there could be cute fluff with Josh? Just a suggestion ❤❤❤”
Notes - Thank you for loving my work darling <3 also, this is cute af.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was you and Josh’s 12 month anniversary, and he said he was taking you out for a fancy dinner. You had just woken up and decided to sit in your living room binge watching some show on Netflix in your pajamas. You were rudely interrupted by a knock on the door.
Letting out a loud groan you got up and opened the door, expecting to see a person standing there. Instead, in front of you stood a 5 foot tall cream colored teddy bear. You gasped in surprise. Who would leave you one of these? “SURPRISE BABE!” Josh jumped out from behind the teddy bear, scaring the shit out of you, causing you to quickly walk backwards, tripping on your own feet, and fall over.
“Oh shit Y/N are you okay?” Josh asked from the doorway, concern written on his face.
“You… Bought me… A giant bear.” You were still shocked.
“Yup! I did.” Josh seemed proud of himself, a smile on his face.
“Look- honey, I know you mean well, but I don’t need a 5ft tall stuffed bear.” You smiled at him, trying to soften the blow. Josh didn’t look upset at all.
“Actually, yes you do.” While Josh stated to explain himself he made his way to you and layed down next to you, wrapping his arms around you. Now both of you were just laying on the floor. This was by far one of the weirdest day’s you have had, but also one of the cutest.
“I was in the shop thinking of what to get you but I couldn’t think of anything. Then I saw it, the giant stuffed bear. And I thought to myself, ‘Wow Josh, that’s pretty cool. Should we get it for Y/N? We should get it for Y/N.’ So I bought it. While I was driving I started thinking again.” With that he paused and kissed you slowly on the lips, being soft and gentle with you. It reminded you of your first kiss with Josh.
“I thought to myself ‘Now what the fuck is Y/N going to do with a giant teddy. And then it hit me. You can cuddle it whenever you miss me but you can’t be asked to drive to the Sidemen house. Or you can cuddle it when I’m busy. It genius really. I even sprayed it with my cologne.” Josh was beaming at you now, so proud of his wonderful idea.
“Josh, you’re fucking marvelous.” You climbed on top of Josh and hugged him, now loving your new 5 foot tall friend.
“Okay, I need to go reccord now Y/N, I love you.” Josh kissed you one more time and left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After struggling a bit, you managed to move Josh 2.0 into the corner of your living room. After it was moved, you called your best friend on the phone.
“I now have a 5 foot tall stuffed bear in the corner of my living room. It lives here now. I’ve named it.”

Over Your Head; Pt 1
Pairing: HanHoon (WoozixJeonghan) Rating: PG-13  Genre: Romance, a little drama I guess, slight slight angst, age gap Warnings: Age gap (Both characters are of age), suggestive material, student/teacher Part: 1/2 Word count: Roughly 1,100
In which Jeonghan is a 28 year old professor and Jihoon is his 21 year old student that he has known his whole life. Oh also, Jihoon really wants the D and Jeonghan is losing his chill.
Prompt credit to @otpisms
Prompt: -Imagine your OTP have known each other through family since they were young. Person A is attending the university that Person B is a professor at, and taking all of their courses to purposely mess/flirt with them.
This can’t be happening. This actually cannot be happening right now. There is absolutely no way in hell that the name on Jeonghan’s class roster is the name he thinks it is. Definitely not a chance that the name on his list is the same name of a certain twenty-one year old boy that he has literally know since said boy was in diapers. Definitely not a chance tha-
“Oh hyung, this is your class?”
A shiver travels down his body, head-to-toe, at the cheerful, nonchalant tone of the one and only: Lee Jihoon. Lee Jihoon, the same kid that Jeonghan babysat when he was in high school. The same kid that took his first kiss when he was a senior. The same kid that has been offering Jeonghan his virginity since he was sixteen. A kid that is getting extremely difficult to ignore and turn down.
“Jihoon, you’re still so young, you don’t need to worry about something like that right now.” Except that was when Jihoon was sixteen and baby faced. Now he’s twenty-one and has grown into his features, round cheeks no longer making Jeonghan think of what a cute little brother Jihoon is, but instead of how beautiful they would look dusted red with flush in the middle of sex.
“Jihoon, I’m not gay, you know that. I’m sure you’ll find a nice boy who is actually into boys.” Except Jihoon knows it’s a bluff now since Jeonghan was dating a guy in his senior year of college and Jihoon caught them in the act. He still remembers Jihoon telling him later that night that Jisoo was pretty, but Jihoon could make him feel a thousand times better and the thought has him blushing to this day.
“Jihoonie, I’m twenty-five and you’re eigtheen. Maybe when you’re older.” Except Jihoon is older now. He’s older and has grown into his looks so well that Jeonghan has trouble reminding himself that he has babysat Jihoon, that he has watched his mom change Jihoon’s diapers, that he was already in college when Jihoon was in middle school dealing with his first breakup and he wakes up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat with sticky boxers, the image of Jihoon beneath him with his face scrunched in ecstasy still fresh behind his eyelids.
It does nothing to help his self-control when Jihoon purposely does things like this, either. Taking two of his classes, coming into class wearing one of Jeonghan’s old t-shirts that have stayed at Jihoon’s house for years, marking the wrong answers on tests so he has an excuse to hang around after class once the other students have left. It’s taken every single ounce of self-restraint he has in his body not to bend Jihoon over his desk and ravish him until he can’t walk on those days.
And today is one of those days. It’s been almost two months since the first day of the semester and Jihoon has come in wearing Jeonghan’s senior sweatshirt. It’s too big for him, hanging low in the front and showing Jihoon’s collarbones, exposing the fact that he’s not wearing a shirt beneath when he leans over his desk to write down his notes. Jeonghan swallows hard, turning to face the board and taking a deep breath to calm his nerves before continuing with the lesson. It just gets worse though when his eyes catch on Jihoon once more, just barely catching the movement of Jihoon’s hand slipping down his stomach to rest on his thigh.
Jeonghan almost chokes on his own spit when the hand goes higher, rubbing so obviously over his crotch that it’s a wonder no other students notice.
“Seonsaengnim, are you alright?” one of his students ask. Jeonghan nods, only sparing the barest hint of a glance in Jihoon’s direction. It’s only a split second but he still manages to see the smirk on the younger’s face.
“Yes, I’m just not feeling too well, today.” He looks to the clock on his desk, the thought of Jihoon touching himself in class just enough to send him over the edge so he calls back out: “Why don’t we all go home early today. Study hard and we’ll see each other tomorrow after I’ve rested, okay?”
Jeonghan takes a seat at his desk as his students file out, only standing when he sees Jihoon approaching. He makes his way to the door, a few steps ahead of a smiling Jihoon.
“Hyung,” Jihoon coos as he reaches Jeonghan. “I’ll bring you some soup later so you can get well soon, okay?”
Any other day, Jeonghan would mutter out a ‘you don’t have to do that’ or an ‘I’ll be okay.’ Any other day, he’d ignore the wink that follows Jihoon’s words. Any other day he’d just let Jihoon walk right out of the classroom.
But it isn’t any other day.
Jihoon jumps as the door slams just a few inches from his face, Jeonghan reaching over to turn the lock on the knob before pushing Jihoon roughly against the wall. His eyes are so pretty as they flutter shut when Jeonghan slots their mouths together. Jihoon’s fingers tangle in his hair, pulling the professor closer as Jeonghan’s knee presses in between Jihoon’s legs and a moan slips free of the younger’s lips.
It isn’t until Jeonghan’s lifts him up, Jihoon’s legs around his waist, and his fingers reach for the buttons of his pants that Jihoon stops him with shaky fingers curling around the elder’s wrists.
“H-hyung.” Jihoon’s voice is small and his eyes are glossy and Jeonghan hates himself as he sets Jihoon back down, suddenly remembering every single reason why he’s never let himself do something like this. Jihoon is still young, still fragile, a kid who’s getting himself in way over his head messing with a man almost ten years older than him. And Jeonghan is the asshole that should know better but still let Jihoon get to him and ended up hurting him.
“Jihoonie,” he says quietly, reaching out to fix the younger boy’s hair.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. See you later, hyung.” Jihoon knocks Jeonghan’s hand away, hastily unlocking the door and leaving the classroom before Jeonghan can say anything more.
Jeonghan sighs, running a hand through his hair as he slides to the floor. Now he’s fucked it all up.

Madi heard a soft giggle from Clarke’s room. Guess she wasn’t sleeping after all. Madi refocused on the book. A couple pages later, she heard it again. And again. Then the giggling turned to moaning and soft voices and oh my god she wasn’t alone in there.
Madi tried to ignore Clarke and her guest at first, but then Clarke let out a soft “Bellamy…” and Madi was out of that apartment faster than you could say ascende superius, leaving a half eaten bowl of jo berries and a book held open by the weight of its spine on her bed.
Inspired by otpisms’ prompt on tumbr about your OTP’s child mistaking a back rub for sex sounds. It’s probably a really old prompt but I saw it on Pinterest and had to write this.

Update
I've thought for a while about this and I've decided that I'm going to stop with otpisms now. The blog will still be up of course, so writing help and prompts will be open to everyone.
Sorry to the asks I never answered, chances are the prompt you're looking for is somewhere on this blog. If not, check out some other cool prompt blogs, there's a bunch:
@otpprompts
@otpoftheday
@otp-imagines-cult
This blog was great while it lasted, and I'm glad to have seen it go so far. Now, I've just lost interest and it's not the same as it was when I started it all those years back. Either way, I'm glad to have helped people create some wonderful stuff, and I hope otpisms will still serve people well.
Happy writing y'all!

... Don't talk about what happens at conventions.
Or, alternatively, post it online.
Though I was too busy to post beforehand, this one is in honor of SDCC weekend, and J.O. being able to attend for the first time in about a decade - a story that I've been working on periodically for what also feels like a decade, haha. Fic originally inspired by the following prompt:
@otpisms Prompt #887: “Imagine Person A and Person B are both somewhat famous people at a convention. The two are both fans of the other but have never actually met, and they both think the other person is too cool for them. When the two accidentally bump into each other, they both start freaking out and then start trying to act cool so they can impress the other person...”

NCT Angst Series: Jeno
Prompt: “We can be friends instead.”
Word Count: 943
Pronouns: Gender neutral; they/them/theirs
Tags: Soulmate AU - imagine a soulmate AU where everyone has a flower bud protruding from anywhere on them. when they meet their soulmate, their bud blooms into the same flower as their soulmate’s - credit to @otpisms for the prompt
Tumblr media
’A watched flower never blooms.’ That’s what his mother used to tell him. But it was hard not to longingly stare at the slightly browning bud on his left shoulder, just above his collarbone. Sometimes Jeno would try and peel back one of the tightly closed leaves as if to just get a peek at what could - what should - be. But to his displeasure, the thing never budged.
He couldn’t help but feel like the odd one out when he was the final one from his friendship group to be left with a bud as opposed to a full flower. Looking around the lunch hall, he saw Chenle and Jisung with matching yellow acacia on the backs of their right hands, Sooyoung and Yerim sporting gillyflower where their left eye should be, Hansol and Yuta with couples blue violets on their knees, Kun and Winwin with blue salvia embedded in their hair; all this and Jeno just couldn’t help feeling left out. Yet, he wasn’t completely sure why. He’d never desired any relationship before, no amount of exposure to sex or the romance of dating life ever appealed to him, he just couldn’t feel it. For the longest time, he’d convinced himself he was broken - despite having a bud. Jeno had a couple ideas in his head of what could happen to it, though. It could stay closed forever, never showing its beauty, never meeting that one who has that utmost important connection with, never being able to be accepted by a bank for a loan or a mortgage because he didn’t have a soulmate and he’d have to be moved to a soulmate hostel eventually, disapproving family, but - that platonic relationship he’d always wanted could be given to him. The list could go on.
Or, maybe one day he’ll wake up and feel different. Maybe he’ll feel something and live some cliche life just like everybody else.
Maybe.
“Jeno? You okay, buddy?” He was knocked out of his thoughts by nudging, and upon inspection, it was from Jungwoo. His mood was knocked down again by the sight of the tiny bulges in Jungwoo’s shirt, imprinting the small blossoming lumps of white lilacs he spared with Lucas. Jeno nodded, though his sorry smile said otherwise. All Jungwoo could do was pat the younger on the back and hope nothing too bad came of it.
“-was wondering if you’d be- are you listening to me?” Jeno removed one of his earphones to make sense of the muffled talking he heard behind him. The person moved in front of Jeno to halt his walking. Both faces showed traces of annoyance but immediately relaxed as their eyes locked.
(Y/n) felt it straight away. The spark, the tingle, whatever you want to call it. With a quiet crack, the two of them felt a twitch and a sharp pain in their shoulders. (Y/n) moved the collar of their shirt aside to reveal their bud, in the same place as Jeno’s, wriggling around and starting to unclasp itself.
All Jeno could do was stare in awe. As far as physical sensation went he felt everything; the plant straining in his shirt, the pain shooting down his arms and the opening of the flower making his shoulders feel warm. But as far as anything else, Jeno felt empty.
This was supposed to be the person he has to spend the rest of his life with and it just felt so, mundane. Surely, it can only be the shock, yeah, that’s what it is.
Jeno didn’t know how long he would be able to compose himself but he was cracking. The sheer look of shock and frustration plastered on (y/n)’s face broke his heart. “What do you mean you’re aromantic? You can’t be- you’re my soulmate! So do you not love me? Is there someone else? There can’t be anyone else because you’re mine!”
“We can be friends instead.”
This only caused a larger outburst of crying from (y/n), “It’s not supposed to be this way!”
Jeno’s sexual and romantic identity had been a taboo topic for the pair for months. He tried to be stealth about his feelings and go along with whatever they wanted because after all, they were supposed to be his soulmate. But after gruelling months of forced amusement and intimacy, he couldn’t keep up his facade.
“Go.”
That was the last he heard of them before he was forced to walk out. If you take away the fear of having your stuff stolen sometimes, the hostel wasn’t treating him too badly.
He lay on his bed, staring up at the damp blackened ceiling and sighed to himself, pulling down his shirt collar to reveal the wilted flower, ripped at the edges and red at the roots; a daffodil, the flower of unrequited love.

Steve Isn’t Pretending
Written for OTP Idea #732 on @otpisms: Imagine Person A pretending to be Person B’s husband/wife when they saw someone was checking Person B out. (A slight deviation because someone was actually hitting on Danny, and Danny didn’t like it.)
Fandom: Hawaii Five-0 (2010) Pairing: Steve/Danny Rating: G Word Count: 1600 Notes: For this fic, Steve and Danny are both conveniently single. The timing is vague, but the earliest it can be set is after 6.08.
The team was out at a bar celebrating for the evening after the end of a long, hard week. Danny had left to pay for the latest round of drinks and had been gone a bit too long, in Steve's opinion.
Steve frowned. “What's taking Danny so long?”
Chin glanced over towards the bar. “It looks like some brunette is trying to put the moves on him.”
Kono followed his gaze. “Yeah, but it looks like he needs someone to rescue him.”
The big, beefy guy that had been blocking Steve's view moved, and Steve glowered when he saw what his friends were talking about. Said brunette (who looked like one of those supermodels Danny liked so much, Steve noted jealously) was clinging to Danny's arm, pawing at his chest, and laughing as she talked to him. Danny was standing stiffly with an uncomfortable look on his face and refusing to look at the woman trying to hit on him.
A crazy scheme to make the woman back off of Danny entered Steve's mind. It would definitely make the woman leave, but it would also probably make Danny want to rant at him and possibly want to punch him. But Steve could explain his plan, and his explanation would hopefully minimize the fallout.
Steve strode off to the bar, hearing the voices of his friends behind them. “I guess Steve is gonna save Danny from the hot woman,” Lou said. Kono laughed at the statement. Steve tuned them out, focused on his mission.
As he neared the woman and Danny, Steve plastered an innocent, lovestruck expression on his face and wrapped his arm around Danny's shoulders and dropped a kiss on Danny's temple. “Hey, hubby. You've been gone so long that I was starting to miss you.”
Danny turned to Steve with wide, confused eyes. Steve leaned over to Danny's ear. “Just go with it,” he whispered in Danny's ear, quietly enough that the woman wouldn't hear him. Hopefully, it looked like he was whispering sweet nothings to Danny.
“That's sweet of you... honey. But I was just getting everyone drinks, like I said.”
She removed her hands from Danny and pouted at him as if he had betrayed her. “I didn't know you were married.”
“He is.” Steve shot a challenging look at the woman, who backed off, apparently intimidated by his jealous glare. Good. He didn't really enjoy seeing other people hit on Danny, especially when he was clearly not receptive to it.
“Drinks are ready,” the bartender announced. He darted his gaze between the three of them, looking deeply amused.
“Thanks,” Danny said. He picked up a couple of the drinks, and Steve got the others. He made sure to put a possessive hand on Danny's lower back as they made their way back to the table.
When they sat down at the table, Steve calmly took a sip of his drink, waiting for Danny's explosion.
“What the hell was that, Steven?!”
Kono giggled. “It looked like Steve was acting like a jealous boyfriend.” She smirked at Steve, and Steve noticed how she had used the word “acting” and not “pretending.” Not very subtle there, Kono.
“Oh no, he didn't just pretend to be a jealous boyfriend," Danny said, gesturing wildly as he ranted. “See, that would have been insane, but within the realm of Steve's typical level of insanity. No, instead he told the woman we were married.”
Everyone else at the table laughed at this declaration. Lou was laughing so hard that tears were falling from his eyes. He wiped them away and shook his head. “Is it really that far from the truth?” he asked, drawing more laughs from Chin and Kono.
Danny's mouth hung open at this remark, and Steve decided to fill the silence. “Hey, you looked like that woman was bothering you, so I decided to make her leave. She was bothering you, wasn't she?”
Danny closed his mouth and nodded. “She was really drunk and handsy.”
Steve shrugged. “Well, there you go, then.”
Danny shook his head, evidently not satisfied. “But why did you decide to go that far with the kissing, and the hands, and the whole husband thing?” He was blushing, which was ridiculously adorable. “You could have come up with anything, and you came up with that? And why did you decide it was your job to intervene anyway?”
Danny's incisive questions were making Steve a little nervous. Truth be told, he didn't exactly mind pretending to be married to Danny, but of course, he couldn't say that. “I don't know, it was just the first thing that came to mind,” he said, avoiding Danny's inquisitive gaze. “And I always take care of you.” That much was true. He had felt protective when he saw how that woman was clinging to Danny and not letting him leave.
A long, awkward pause followed. “Hey, Chin, Lou, you guys up for a game of pool?” Kono asked.
Chin, Lou, and Kono rose from the table. “Yeah, I think it might be a good idea to give these guys some space,” Chin said, shooting a knowing look in Steve's direction. They left, presumably to go play pool. Or as Chin said, to give Steve and Danny some privacy.
“You always take care of me?” Danny asked. His voice sounded quiet and less affronted than it had before.
“Yeah, I do.” Steve answered. He looked over at Danny. "Just like you take care of me."
Danny let out a long sigh and nodded in acknowledgement of Steve’s statement. "Okay, but why did you go for the whole jealous husband thing?"
“I... I don't know,” Steve said. The truth was, seeing that woman draped all over Danny had sparked a real jealous reaction in Steve. If Danny had been enjoying her attentions, he would have buried it and tried to go on with his night. But since Danny was uncomfortable, it gave Steve permission to give into his urge to stake his claim on Danny and make the irritating woman go away.
“Babe, what are you hiding from me?” Danny softly asked.
Steve slammed his hand on the table, frustrated. “Nothing! God, Danny, what did you expect me to do? That woman had her grubby little mitts all over you, and I just...” Steve broke off, cradling his head in his hands when he realized what he had just revealed.
“Wow, you, uh... you really were jealous, weren't you?” God, why did Danny have to be able to read him so well? Steve wouldn't usually mind, but now it was leading to certain disaster.
Steve didn't answer, which he supposed was enough of an answer in itself.
He was startled by the hand Danny put on his arm. “Steve, look at me.”
Steve managed to look up to see that Danny was looking at him in concern. “It's okay, babe,” Danny said.
“How is it okay?! How is anything okay right now?!”
Danny laughed, blushing again. He smiled at Steve as if he hadn't just been completely inappropriate. “Because I get just as jealous when I see someone acting like that with you.”
A few memories flickered through his mind. Steve seeing Nick Taylor again and how annoyed Danny had acted. Even Steve had been able to detect Danny's jealousy. The waitress who wanted to sign Steve's cast and Danny insisting that she would not. Danny hearing Steve was going out with Lynn again and saying that he would “set her straight.” Those last two incidents hadn’t seemed important at the time, but now they seemed to prove Danny’s statement.
Was it possible?
“You still don't get it do you?” Danny sounded incredibly fond.
Danny leaned in, and his hand was suddenly cradling the back of Steve's head. “Maybe this will help you understand.” And then Danny was kissing him.
At that realization, Steve closed his eyes and started kissing Danny back. He gasped when Danny deepened the kiss by letting his tongue enter Steve's mouth.
Danny pulled away several seconds later with a breathless, giddy grin. He looked more ecstatic than Steve had ever seen him.
Steve recalled the last question Danny had asked. “I think I get it now.”
Danny laughed. “Good.” He turned his attention to something behind Steve, and Steve looked up to see the others walking back towards their table. “That has got to be the shortest game of pool I've ever seen,” he said.
Kono smiled brightly. “These two really suck at pool.”
Lou shook his head. “Girl, why you gotta lie? We weren't even playing pool.” He chuckled at Steve and Danny. “Not that these two would have noticed.”
Danny ducked his head, and Steve saw that he was blushing again. He had done that a lot tonight.
Steve put his arm around Danny just like he had earlier at the bar and Danny looked up at him and grinned. Steve could hear Kono making an “aww” noise in the background, but he couldn't see what her face looked like. He couldn't take his eyes off the handsome man in front of him.
“So, it looks like that 'pool game' gave you the privacy you needed,” Chin said.
Steve glanced over at Chin, who looked pleased. Kono was practically bouncing in her chair, and Lou looked smug, as if he had expected this to happen all along.
Steve gazed down at Danny, who was leaning against Steve's shoulder and smiling. He looked like he belonged there. Steve liked that thought and wanted to keep the image of Danny tucked up against his shoulder forever.
“It did,” Steve answered.

admirer || shikamaru nara
prompt: based off this post from @otpisms
warnings: angst !!
a/n: another naruto imagine !!! god i hope this is good and i hope i didnt write shikamaru too ooc and this might be shitty iM sOrRY
part two
You weren't the most outgoing person in the hidden leaf village. That was a fact. You mostly trained with your team and not really speak to anyone else. But one day you tried to get out your comfort zone and met Hinata. She introduced you to her friends and vice versa. After that Hinata became your best friend, she always talked about her crush on Naruto to you, which wasn't all that bad.
But there was one person in particular that caught your attention, Shikamaru Nara. He was interesting, you noticed that he was incredibly lazy but also very intelligent. He would always be a hundred steps ahead of his opponent which was very impressive. Soon enough you started to develop a crush on the boy, which really wasn't that great. Hinata was the first person you spoke to about your crush on Shikamaru, and being the friend she was Hinata advised you talk to him.
The first time you spoke to Shikamaru was after you and your team had finished training. You saw as Team 10 came to the training field. “This is such a drag.” You heard Shikamaru say. “Come on, training can't be that bad.” You said, as you started to leave. “I’d rather nap than train.” He replied and you laughed softly. “I would do the same but we have responsibilities as ninja.”
“Yeah, how troublesome.” He replied annoyingly. With that you left, going to Ichiraku Ramen and treating yourself to a meal. Slowly and over a course of a month, you and Shikamaru became friends, but your crush on him grew as well. You hated how oblivious Shikamaru was, for a genius, he was pretty slow and never caught on about how you felt about him. You always blush if his hand accidentally brushed against yours or if he showed you any affection.
You contemplated telling Shikamaru about your feelings but never acted upon your thoughts. ‘He wouldn't like you back, he’s just your friend.’ you always thought. But after intense thinking and bothering Hinata about it on multiple occasions, you finally decided to tell Shikamaru your feelings.
It was a sunny afternoon and you had an off day. You and Shikamaru decided to hang out at your usual training spot. The two of you were in a comfortable silence, just enjoying each other’s company. “Shikamaru, we’re good friends right?”
“I believe so or I did all this work for nothing.” he replied and you laughed. God why is this so hard. “Well could I tell you something? It’s kinda personal.” You asked, facing the boy. But before he could answer, he heard someone call his name. “Hey Shikamaru!” The both of you looking up to see Temari. “Hey Temari. What are you doing here?” Shikamaru replied. “I just came here to see you and also I needed to ask you something.”
Shikamaru was quiet, letting the blonde continue. “I was wondering if you wanted to go out? Not now of course, I see you’re busy with Y/N. But probably tomorrow.” Temari spoke, you could see that Shikamaru was shocked but you waited for him to answer and the suspense killed you. “Sure Temari. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Shikamaru finally spoke and you felt your heart physically break.
You watched as Temari walked off, feeling as if time felt had stopped and everything was in slow motion. You felt tears form in your eyes but you quickly wiped them away before Shikamaru could see. You felt weak and exhausted and with that you stood up, then Shikamaru’s attention finally coming back to you. “Hey Y/N, where are you going? I thought we were hanging out.” He spoke up as you started walking. You put on a fake smile and turned around, “I’m not feeling well, it must’ve been something I ate. I’m sorry.”
“But wait, didn’t you want to tell me something?” He asked and you gave him a small smile. “Could we take a rain check? I’m sorry, I gotta go.” You spoke, walking before Shikamaru could reply, leaving the boy confused. “Troublesome woman.” He spoke to himself as he watched you walk off.
You finally arrived at your home, plopping onto your bed and curling up into a ball. You pulled your blanket up to your face, the tears finally falling. Your blanket was soaking wet but you didn’t care. You felt like your heart was ripped out of your chest. How could you ever think Shikamaru would have feelings for you? You cried at the thought of Shikamaru dating Temari.
You cried at the feeling that you weren't enough and that you never would be.
god i feel like this sucks. as always feedback is appreciated !! Also i hope this wasn't too ooc but i kinda like this but not really
