A/n : Hello my dear reader, I was so excited to write this when I got the notification and here it is ! It's inspired by the Prompt 14 of the Smutember 2023 with Tomura Shigaraki

A/n 2 : I hope I did Shikamaru's personnality honnor here as I tried to guess how he would be in a more private setting ( I've never watcher Boruto )

Coming early from work usually meant one thing for you and Shikamaru : Sex. Well first resting a bit and then sex for him most of the days. Today was a bit different though since it was a day off for your lover. So that’s clearly excited and a little horny that you arrived at home, knowing that since he got a full day of rest he would surely not waste time before jumping your bones. As you looked at your watch it was 5 pm.

A little knowing smile was plastered on your lips all the way back to your house. You put your keys in the door and unlocked it at the speed of the light, before taking off your shoes and almost sprinting to the living room. He was slumped on the couch, looking up at the sky through the window - it was clearly too cold outside for him to bother to go out. His head turned towards the commotion and an equal but tired-ish smile appeared on his lips. It was undeniable that he was glad and relieved to have you back after a day of work.

Sitting on the edge of the couch, parallel to his body, you bent down before placing a loving kiss on his lips, which he returned eagerly “I missed you” you whispered as you placed your forehead against his still peppering his lips with soft pecks.

“‘missed you to Beautiful” he responded, with hand coming to rest on your thigh as he slowly woke up from his slumbering state.

Your eyes got stuck for a brief second on his hand that was rubbing the flesh of your leg before speaking “Would you mind if we you know shifted to the bedroom ?” As you asked this you expected nothing but a “of course let’s go” knowing how long it has been for both of you, adding to the fact that he had plenty of rest during his long nap day.

Though as his eyes locked onto yours, a smirk made his way on his lips as he answered “Yeah, I’m being quite comfy here”

Your mouth almost dropped as you tried to understand “Oh… okay well then I’m going to retrieve a condom. I’ll be ba-” you started to get up but he pulled you back down.

“We won’t need any to nap”

To… nap ? was he joking with you right ? since ( uh ) when was he the one trying to escape those moments ? His arms encircled your waist and he brought you flush against his warm and strong body.

“Shikamaru, what are you doing ?” you asked, our voice slightly muffled against his chest.

“Shh it’s going to rain soon” he only whispered. Was he serious ? like he was just going to listen to the rain and take another little nap, maybe the 300th this day while his needy girlfriend is slouched over him.

“You’re joking aren’t you ?” you asked, taking in the scent of his hair, he must have taken a shower because he smelled divinely.

“I think it’s better if we waited for tomorrow” he murmured back as if nothing, knowing him he clearly didn't mean any of this ( it is nothing you can say no and it must be respected but for the purpose of the fic we’re going to go another way )

“Shika, it's been 3 days” you stated.

“I know”

“Then why cancel when we could have our way now that it’s still early ?”

“Don’t worry you’ll get it one day” his arms tightened around you. That little tease, you could clearly see the smirk on his damn face and he played with your mind.

After a moment you decided that you would try to ignore the throb between your legs and actually rest with the sound of the rain as background. But then you felt something poking you “You know you could make it a little less obvious you know ?” this time it was your turn to tease him.

“My body responses are getting almost as troublesome as you woman” he sounded like he was pouting.

You chuckled “I seriously can’t understand you being so lazy even after a day of rest” ( those are somehow the worst sometimes ) “But don’t worry I’ve got an idea” and with that you slowly dragged your hips back and forth.

A low groan escaped his lips as he felt the heat of your clothed core grind on his hardening member “Mmh so clothes stay on ? I see you’re smarter than you seem”

“I’m also doing all the work so you better be grateful” you outbid, knowing that he was only jesting.

You kept grounding your center on his like this for what felt like an eternity ( 15 min lmao ). The heat was oh so slowly building inside you both, at this point if one looked a wet spot could be clearly noticeable on your pants, while on the other hand you managed to make quite a tent in Shikamaru’s.

“When is it you plan on helping me ?” you muttered, a thin sheen of sweat glistening on your forehead.

“Help ? With such a mouth I thought you were going to do it on your own. Thank gosh I’m allowed to participate”

As you were taking off your shirt you heard the sound of plastic being torn up. Once your shirt stopped blocking your view, you almost gasped in surprise when you saw Shikamaru rolling a condom on his still throbbing length. First of all, when was he so fast ? Sometimes you forget that he also is a ninja. And also that little shit, of course he would have hidden a condom within reach.

His naked form got closer to yours, his member tantalizingly close to poking your leg “Now what about we end this day of rest in the best way ?” he said, his voice dropping to a seductive tone.

“Of course you had something in mind” you chuckled, getting closer to him.

“I always have something in mind” he simply stated, before taking a hold of you and pulling you down on him the way he should have moments ago. It was still raining outside and he loved its sound as much for sleeping as for making love.

Kakashi Hatake :

You were very close to the Uchiha clan and you were devastated by the events of that famous night which had deprived you forever of your two best friends Shisui and Itachi.

It seemed to be a twist of fate when you stumbled upon a strange black notebook that you had found in the forest under a bramble bush - ouch

Once you got to know the God of Death, whom you discovered was called Ryuk, you decided to use the extraodinary power of this find to avenge the death of your friends and the Uchiha clan

The first person you used it on was of course Danzo Shimura, the one who caused the situation to go wrong

Of course you didn't do this in the normal way, you could have just written his name down and made him die of a heart attack but you made a show of it, you made him go to the public square, explain his crimes, show the eye he had stolen from Shisui and the eyes he had grafted in his right arm, after that you made him tear out his eye and cut off his arm before cutting off his tongue, the tongue that had caused so much harm before he stuck the kunai in his lung and let him die of asphyxiation

Of course everyone - or almost everyone - had witnessed the scene and was almost more shocked at what he had done while he was alive than at the violence of his death

Kakashi had noticed that day that the atmosphere in the village had changed, a climate of fear reigned

All thought it was made by a Genjutsu but Sasuke had disappeared, only Kakashi remained, who of course knew that he had done nothing. However he noticed that you didn't seem to be really upset, dare he even say that you seemed happy about it. After all it was legitimate but still

So he decided not to worry but to keep an eye on you, not because he suspected you but in case the author of this act tried to come after you

But if only he knew

After that you started to go on missions for the Hokage, without telling him, you always took missions that would allow you to be in the same area as the enemies that you wanted to get ride of with your Death Note and thanks to the power of the Shinigami eyes

No one ever made the connection between your missions and his unexpected deaths

Well, nobody except Kakashi, who noticed that the deaths were taking place during the same periods as your absences, he just didn't know where you were going or where the enemies you were killing were

He had also noticed a strange change in your aura, a kind of melancholy associated with eagerness but what he didn't know. It also seemed that on the rare occasions when you were in Konoha and he came to spend time with you, you refused to go out all the time and even did everything to get him out of your house as soon as possible, as if you had better things to do

He would have advised you to sleep, because of the dark circles under your eyes that showed your lack of sleep

But EVERYTHING went wrong one evening, when he was walking in the forest to clear his head, he stumbled upon a familiar figure lying on her stomach on the ground behind a bush, writing frantically and laughing psychotically

His eyes widened and he stepped on a branch that cracked making you stop moving before whipping your head towards him

"Y/n what are you doing here ?" he asked his voice shaking as if it knew something more than he did. He held his hand out to you to help you up, but it didn't have the desired effect at all

"Don't touch it ! Stay back !" you yelled clutching the Death Note against your chest, he took another step in your direction, resuming in you throwing a kunai at his feet made him stop his advance

"Y/n what the hell are you doing ?" he asked surprised in his voice clear and noticeably out of breath

Another noise was heard and Anbus ninjas, which obviously took you in tailing for a while already, unfortunately your measures did not allow you to escape

"L/n Y/n you are under arrest" one of them shouted at you but you didn't listen to anything

You quickly wrote their names while avoiding their attacks, they all started to fight again one another and the last one fell down dead of a heart attack in the next 30 seconds under the frightened eyes of Kakashi

"I'm ridding the world of evil and creating a utopia. No matter how much time I have, it won't be enough. I have no time to loose on you"

He couldn't believe his eyes, his legs were shaking slightly and his breathing was shallow "Oh no not again" he thought, he felt like the day he had seen Obito again after all those years thinking he was dead

Your wild eyes locked on his, and he took a step backwards for fear that you would decide to attack him if you felt rushed by his proximity

"Please Y/n put that down we'll settle-"

"No ! I did this for all of us ! I have avenged the village and I will continue to purify the world as a vengeful and protective deity-"

"Protective deity ? Can you hear yourself talk ?!?" his brain was working at full speed, how should he handle the situation, should he arrest you or let you execute criminals at all, should he go as far as killing you- no no it's impossible, he already lost everything, he can't afford to lose the person he cares about the most to die, not by his hand, not again ( I'm not saying that he loved Rin only that he killed her with his hand )

"Don't you find life in the village better now that I have blessed it with my power ! Don't you feel the serenity of the place ?

"Y/n..." he said sadly, his voice low, "You are rambling. You are not in your right mind. Let me help you-" he took another step slowly towards you

"Not one more move or I'll have to clean the village of your presence as well !" your trembling hand holding your pen, holding it perpendicular to the page of the notebook, your voice echoed in the moonlit forest in a frightening manner

Kakashi couldn't believe his eyes you were going to coldly kill him, but he couldn't let you do that, however he couldn't bring himself to kill you either, but little by little he realized that it was either you or him, and who knows what you would be capable of doing after killing the man you had shared your life with for all those years

Suddenly you saw him put his hand in the pocket of his bag and you rushed to write his name on the notebook

"Kakashi Hata-"

Too late, an erasure coming down from your "A" scratched the bottom of the page as your hand jerked uncontrollably as the pen - your weapon - slipped from your hand, as the kunai in your throat made you choke, so that you spat blood on the open page of the notebook and dropped it to the ground

Kakashi had acted without thinking, out of survival, he didn't think either when he set fire to the damned book he thought was cursed

He took you in his trembling arms, tears forming in his eyes, he uttered apologies expressing all the regret that consumed him secondes after what he did, but nothing reached your ears which could only hear a white and continuous sound, like a whistle

You continued to flail frantically in his arms as you watched your Death Note burn, until exhaustion forced you to close your eyes

You wondered if it was the kunai that would take your life first or if it was the burning notebook that would have the upper hand, but wasn't it you who started it all ?

"It was the right thing to do... you'll be more useful to them than me" you coughed blood on his chest leaning over you, as if the old you wanted to speak one last time

"Don't wear yourself out, I-I'll take you back to the village, you'll be fine, I-I love you please stay with me" he was talking so fast, but yet he was slowly realizing what was happening and that maybe you wouldn't make it

You closed your eyes in exhaustion, feeling his love surround you, it almost didn't hurt anymore with his warmth against you

He panicked as he felt your body relax in his arms, he repeated your name over and over frantically like a mantra, tears flowing from his eyes like streams

And just like that it was over, after a lifetime together with each other, you were going separate ways for the first time

Kakashi would continue to curse himself for the rest of his life for not knowing how to handle the situation in a better way and for not realizing it before

However what was done was done and he would have to live with it, he just hoped that once everything was over he would be able to find you, in heaven or in hell

During his next battle he will be informed that his pupil has changed, thanks to you he developed the Mangekyō Sharingan

Shikamaru Nara :

Let's say that if you found the Death Note and got the Shinigami eyes 5 months ago, well he was suspecting it since the first month

Actually you knew each other since your first year at the Ninja school and you were dating for almost 3 years now

His intelligence helped him a lot but contrary to what we can think it's not a change of your behavior that made him have this intuition

In fact, your intelligence was neck and neck with his, so you always pretended to be less intelligent than you were, so that those who thought were manipulating you would be caught in their own trap

However in this case you got caught in your own trap, at first you only used your eyes to know the names of the people you had to kill for the sake of the Ninja World - you were convinced of that, after all who could have done it if you didn't

But it only lasted a month and soon you turned to bigger and bigger criminals, which of course attracted the attention of Konoha's intelligence services

It was Shikaku, Shikamaru's father, who realized that the killer had to be from Konoha, because the deaths happened just after the said criminal had harmed Konoha in any way

Of course to complete your mission you had to infiltrate the Intelligence Service to keep up to date with everything that was going on and so you know about their progress on the investigation

Shikamaru noticed the dark circles under your eyes, or the twitch of your eyes the moments when someone made you angry, you could really look mad in those moments but being the relaxed boy he is he didn't pay more attention to it but he smtill kept it in a corner of his mind... just in case

The moment you got caught was the moment you let your feelings show the most

Indeed, Azuma sensei had been killed by Hidan's hand with the assistance of Kakuzu his Akatsuki companion. Shikamaru, Ino and Shoji were devastated

Shikamaru's eyes were full of sadness and hatred, which made you do what would start the process that would end your reign

Just two days after this tragic event you returned to your room and retrieved your Death Note which you had cleverly hidden in a wall in your room. You had been on the said mission which had ended with the death of your boyfriend's sensei, so you had thanks to your Shinigami eyes been able to see the first and last names of Hidan and Kakazu, and it was a piece of cake for you to remember them

You began to smile unhealthily as you wrote down the little story you had prepared for their grand finale

You made sure to manipulate Naruto ( sorry bro but I had to ) so that he asked the 3 ex-team members of Team 10 to go near the Konoha village gate

As you expected, Hidan and Kakazu arrived, all your friends who attended the scene mouth agape for some and jaw clenched for Shikamaru, he tried to use the Shadow Possession Jutsu to stop them but nothing happened for the good and simple reason that the power of the Death Note was greater

The two men continued to walk with ease, in an almost robotic way until they reached the group. Once they were at a decent distance, they bent down to 90 % and in a monotonous voice apologized for what they had done. Kakazu gave a kunai to Hidan, everyone jumped backwards but Hidan turned the weapon towards Kakuzu and pierced all his hearts and he died in a pool of blood. Then Hidan ( I'm so sorry baby T.T ) took the kunai and after apologizing one last time he stuck it in the throat, under the astonished eyes of everyone

Of course you knew that because that's what you had written, for obvious reasons you couldn't risk going to blow your cover on the field

Of course this was hidden from the other members of the village and the Intelligence Service started to do the necessary research to find the origin of what had just happened

After this eventful night, Shikamaru went to the Intelligence Office reluctantly, he went to get the information about the serial deaths. Of course it didn't take him long before he was caught by a colleague of his father and was thrown into his office. His father half-heartedly made it clear to him that you were the prime suspect and Shikamaru reluctantly explained what he had seen change in you over the past 4 months

And so in the same way that L found out that Kira was living in Tokyo, it was broadcast on your television that Shikamaru had died, killed by the same cold hand that had perpetrated all these murders, and you had run to his house, losing all notion of your plan, forgetting that it could only be a crazy scheme, and you had screamed that you it wasn't possible, taht something else must have killed him and that the killer was going to pay from your hand

But as you were about to go home to think, you felt that you had lost control of your body and you were completely frozen in place

"Shadow Possession Jutsu now complete"

When you recognized him you burst into tears, not only out of relief but also because you realized that you had they must have found out

"No I-I-I did everything for the good of the village y-YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME ! NOT AFTER ALL I'VE DONE !" as you started to scream your voice had changed in a frightening way and you started to shout to - it seemed to someone that nobody else could see - to do something

Shikamaru was frightened and disconcerted by the situation, he grabbed you in his arms as if he suspected that it might be the last time he could hold you like this, he understood why you did it but he couldn't validate your way of doing it

"Ryuk you FUKCING PIECE OF SHIT I'M YOUR MASTER YOU MUST OBEY-"

"Shhhhhh Y/n please don't make it anymore difficult" Shikamaru's voice slightly broke which made you look up at him, your crazy eyes staring into his, a pang in your heart was felt when you saw the tears rolling down his cheeks

You tried to bring your hands to his cheeks but you couldn't move any more "I did it for you Shikamaru, for us, for the village" as you spoke you thought of everything, maybe you could give up the Death Note and get the Shinigami eyes back until the division of your life expectancy would be not enough to keep you alive but unfortunately it was impossible the Death Note was still in your house

You were thrown into the dungeon, of course they tried to make you talk, but nothing happened as they expected, it seemed that you had found a way to get a piece of a page of the Death Note with which you proceeded to assassinate Ibiki, his screams were almost hidden by bursts of voice as you stood over him "I am righteous ! I'm the Hero who's liberating people from fear. I'm the Savior who's going to be like a Goddess of this perfect new world !"

Then everyone agreed on the fact that you were a threat to Konoha and they chose to end your life as quickly as possible

Of course back in those days no one knew what had happened to you and Shikamaru didn't learn this until years later when he was hired as the Hokage's right hand man.

The news took him back to that very dark part of your childhood and he was once again devastated

But did he know that you managed to escape just in time ? How could he ? Konoha had been so ashamed that they preferred not to mention anywhere this important information In any case you were still there preparing your return. Oh yes, it was going to be a blast "That's right. I win !"

Naruto Uzumaki :

Naruto is a smart boy but in this case it's not him who will realize it, not by himself, maybe Shikamaru will tell him or he will realize that Tsunade is hiding something from him, if for example she would ask him to keep an eye on you for your safety, when he is already doing it, or if she would ask Yamato or Sai to follow you

You used the Death Note to get rid of the Akatsuki members who were stealing their lives ( except Itachi because he deserves the world )

Of course nobody understood and everybody was chocked when they learned the news of the death of the powerful nunkenins who formed the Akatsuki

Your behavior had also changed a lot, dark circles had appeared under your eyes, you fidgeted a lot, but most of the time you managed to keep the act of the happy girl you used to be, wonderfully foolinganyone who crossed your path

Finally the only problem was that you didn't think that Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox spirit that Naruto had just befriended, would have the ability to see the God of Death that had been with you since you had found the Death Note. And of course he had told his host

Naruto couldn't believe his ears, how could he believe that you, his sweet and compassionate girl, would be able to kill in such an arbitrary way

"They say that love makes you blind Naruto, not stupid" Kurama had warned him and his words were still echoing in the head of the blond after 3 good days

Naruto being Naruto he didn't bother to think about it and just confronted you

Of course he didn't lose sight of your objective and refuted everything he said with a big smile painted on your lips

Of course convinced that you would never do any harm in this way he left your house reassured and serene

While you quickly went back to your room to add some names in your Death Note

But if you thought you were alone now that Naruto was gone, you didn't count on a ninja sent by Tsunade who had totally disappeared his presence to spy on you

Of course you were caught, and taken by force to the office of the Hokage, your Death Note forgotten on your desk, too bad Tsunade should have taken an Anbu rather than a vulgar jönin

Of course your screams had alerted many people and Naruto had found himself in less time than it takes to say it in the 5th Hokage's office

"Grandma Tsunade ! Where is Y/n ?!? Why did you take her ?!?"

"That's none of your business Naruto !!" she roared at him

He immediately understood that if she didn't want to tell him it was because you were in a bad situation

He rushed into the dungeons, once in front of it he stopped dead in his tracks when he heard your screams, he panicked thinking that you were being tortured, he moved forward discreetly to be able to hit from behind whoever was hurting you but when he arrived in front of your cell he only saw you and he could hear clearly what you were saying, and it was as if his world had just collapsed

"I order you to let me out of here you subhuman. I've never been so humiliated in my entire life"

"Y-Y/n ?"

"Naruto ?!? Please come and help me ! I'm the only one who can save the village !"

He didn't understand what you had to save the village from and obviously his lack of action made you snap at him

"Naruto write her name in my notebook ! Don't listen to anyone and write her name ! Don't let her keep us apart like this !"

He shook his head as he took a few steps towards you "Y/n what are you talking about-"

"I'll tell you how to do it ! Just get me out of this cell !"

"Sorry I can't-" you didn't listen to the rest of his excuse and invoked your Death Note ready to manipulate anyone - even him - to get you out of that damn cell

"Hey no ! Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu !" a clone of Naruto caught you in his arms and kicked the notebook out of the cell

Held in his arms you were fussing around like a wild animal "Don't you dare touch me I'm your Goddess !

"Dattebayo Y/n calm down ! What's wrong with you !"

You started to shake and suffocate in his arms, he was going to ruin everything you've been doing all this time just like that with a stupid clone when you had the power of a God of Death on your side

"Y/n ! Oh fuck ! Dattebayo breathe !" he prayed as he ran his hand reassuringly over your back "It's okay we'll get through this together ! All is not lost !"

And finally by dint of talking you were forced to listen to him and breathe calmly, his words gave you hope, but not like he would have wanted

You’d been teamed up with Shikamaru and his teammates, along with yours, on a mission that required as many available ninjas as possible. While it wasn’t the most dangerous, it certainly required numbers if it were to be successful.

Another kunai knife whizzes past your head and when you go to return the favor, another strikes you in the shoulder. The second one to hit you imbeds itself in between your ribs, almost as if the one behind it was taunting you, making your death a slow one.

A third finds its home in your abdomen and in seconds you’re on your knees, two more coming your way, until they’re not. Bothe blades are stopped in mid air, Shikamaru rushes towards you, having caught onto their shadows nearly too late. The last two would have surely finished you off but he had turned just in time.

He hated being on missions with you. Not because he didn’t trust that you could do your job, of course he did. He even believed that you were nearly as smart as he was.

But no, as he approaches you, he’s reminded of why he hates it so. Because if you die, he has to watch the love of his life take their last breath. He nearly slides on the ground as he gets closer to you, bringing his hand up to your face.

“Can you stand?” Shikamaru asks. You nod your head, albeit, a bit shaky as you make an attempt to climb to your feet.

Just as soon as you manage to get upright, your knees buckle. Your vision goes blurry as you collapse to your knees again, attempting to grab at a tree, the man, or anything…

Shikamaru catches you, helping you to sit back down, blood beginning to pull on the ground beneath you. “Sorry…” You whisper, your eyes fluttering, “I-”

“It’s okay.” Shikamaru slips a hand under your legs, his other arm going around your back as he hoists you up rather easily, carrying you into the thick of the trees and away from the fight. “It’s okay. I’ve got you. You’re okay. You’re gonna be okay…”

He sets you down once he’s sure that you’re far enough away from the fighting, quickly getting to work in pulling an abundance of pouches from both your pouch and his. He makes quick work of the kunai in your shoulder, believing that would be the quickest wound to treat while the two of you waited for your teams.

“Ouch.”

“I know…” Silence. Your eyes flutter shut and Shikamaru freezes, panicking when he sees that you appear to have lost consciousness. “Y/N. Wake up.”

“I’m awake. I’m just… tired.”

“Then open your damn eyes. Keep them on me. Keep talking. But do not close your eyes. Not yet. Not here.”

“I’m okay, Shika,” you smile weakly, your face pale as you shiver, growing cold as you continue to lose more blood. “I’m okay.”

“Yeah. Well, it’d be a real drag if you died right now… I’m not ready for that, so just do what I say and talk to me.”

“Okay. I can do that… I’m not going anywhere. Not without you.”

“Stop being sappy,” he mumbles, tightening the bandage a bit in an attempt to distract you from the conversation of possibly losing you. You cry out in pain, clenching your fist as you try not to hit him. “Sorry.” One look at the small smirk on his face and you roll your eyes as you try to take calming breaths.

“I hate you.”

“I love you too.”

I kept rolling in bed, uncomfortable, unable to sleep, and on top of all that, Shikamaru kept hogging all of the blankets.

He had himself cocooned like a caterpillar meanwhile I had nothing and he must have had a good grip on it because no matter how hard I pulled, I could only get a tiny bit.

"Could you not," He groaned in his sleep, having his back facing me, then going back to snoring.

"I literally just got back from a mission today," I stressed, shooting up and bed. attempting yet again to get the blanket back, "All I want to do is get a good night's sleep in bed, but you have to be such a drag!"

Usually mocking him would get him up, but not this time, groaning again in his snores:

"Just go to sleep. I'll give you head or something in the morning to make it up to you."

"Whatever," I huffed, giving up and laying on my side, arms crossed with my knees to my chest.

I tried to go back to sleep but failed. Instead, I grabbed a book from the shelf next to me, reading till I grew tired again, falling asleep without the blanket, book covering my face.

In my dream, I was at the hot springs, in the relaxing water, my face hot from the steam. It began to make me squirm, eyes not wanting to open from the sunlight peeking into our room, groaning softly when I went to sit up, but my legs were pushed back down, having to hold myself up to moan softly.

Throwing the blanket off, there was Shikamaru, hands around my thighs and keeping me still, tongue swirling around my clit when we made eye contact.

"I told you that I'd make it up to you in the morning, remember?"

You knew Shikamaru always had a thing for nature. He always preferred to train in the middle of a forest or a field rather than on a piece of land. And he LOVES napping away from the hustles and bustles of the village. The sounds of nature are so exquisite, the birds singing, the wind rustling the leaves or the crickets calling... well maybe not as exquisite as your moans but 🙂 yeah they're good in their own way.

That’s therefore in all normality that you didn’t have any second thoughts when he asked you if you wanted to join him for a little stroll in the forest. Since the day was pretty hot you thought it was a good idea. It would allow you both to enjoy the cool breeze circulating between the green leaves of the trees, protected by their shades. Though it seemed Shikamaru had other plans. For once he was going to be the one being a drag 😂

You let him as you navigate through the trees. The air was much more breathable here. You noticed, however, that he wasn't taking the same route as usual. You didn't point it out to him and continued chatting as you jumped. But then suddenly he stopped on a branch. Surprisingly he started to look around as if he was trying to make sure no one was around and when he knew the way was clear he turned to you “You know it’s been some time I’ve been thinking about something” you nodded as he spoke “You could call that a little fantasy, if you want to name it”

As he spoke he walked toward you, slowly backing you against the tree trunk. Without even you knowing, your boyfriend - who often was a slow-motion kinda guy - swiftly pinned you against the wood. His lips hovered over your ear as he spoke in a husky voice “What if we did it here ?”

Your breath hitched in your throat as your brain processed the information. He wanted to let you choose to join him in this adventurous moment, though his eagerness pushed him to slowly nibble on your neck. Shikamaru came back to the compound confused on why there was a meeting without him. He entered the meeting room without knocking finding all the Nara elders sitting there.

“Care to explain?” He asked looking over them. Everything felt off about this. There was an uneasy tense he quickly picked up on.

“The marriage has been called off.” One of them stars and they all blowed down not meeting his eyes.

“What?” Shikamaru asked confused on why out of no where the marriage didn’t matter. He felt his cool slowly slip away from him as he heard his heart hammer in his chest.

“The contract has been broken, you are free to choose your own wife.” The elder stated.

“Where’s y/n?” Shikamaru asked noticing that you weren’t here, nor where the elders of the moon clan.

“She left.”

“What the hell are you talking about? Did she go back to the moon clan?” He asked not really understanding what was going on. They where suppose to get married in 2 weeks. What the hell could have happened.

Shikamaru didn’t wait for the replies before dismissing the elders. He felt terribly alone in the Nara compound. He stood in front of the door to the guest suite not able to open in. He knew you weren’t in there. He was too scared to open the door to face reality.

Seemed like he was standing there for hours before he slipped in the room. It look cleaned and untouched. As if you never lived here for the past few months. He noticed a envelope the bed with his name

My dearest Shikamaru,

I am sorry I was unable to say good bye. I want to thank you for everything. For the kindest you showed me. For the knowledge you shared with me. For the cold sleepless nights we shared in the field. For the love you taught me how to feel. I will forever be grateful for our time, you taught me to be free. I wish you the best happiness and love in a marriage you choose for yourself. I did not want to stand between love. I now know how strong it is and how hard it can hurt.

Shikamaru kept rereading the letter you wrote him. You didn’t even say goodbye. You didn’t even tell him you loved him to his face. You just left him. Without a reason. Thought if you did try to say goodbye he wouldn’t be able to let you go.

His anger got the better of him as he pushed over the desk in the room letting it fall apart. He made his way out the room going outside in the garden. A part of him hoped and prayed to see you sitting there in your usual spot. But he was only fooling himself.

“Why did you want to leave?” He mumbled to himself not being able to think of why you couldn’t at least talk to him first. He didn’t even understand how you got the elders to agree on forgetting this marriage.

He tried to get out of this marriage before, they didn’t let. And somehow he found himself desperately in love with you before he could really realize.

Coming from a prominent and secretive clan in the Hidden Leaf Village was already bad enough. Your justu was rarely ever seen and mostly hidden by the protective nature of your father and the elders of your clan. You were taught from a young age how to fight and you were easily one of the best fighters your age. Your secretive nature doesn’t keep the attention off of you, especially not from two of the brightest people in the chunin exams with you.

Shikamaru had barely left your bedside in the days following the preliminaries. He saw no point in training for something you wouldn’t be able to do with him, regardless of Asuma and Choji warning him that when you woke up, you’d probably kick his ass for not taking this seriously. You’d been friends with each other since your early days at the academy, and since you were older and growing into your roles to hopefully become jonin one day, you only began to grow closer with one another.

In spite of the elders of your clan warning you that Shikamaru was a good for nothing, lazy bum, you still remained friends with him. You often invited him over to your family home just to irk them, knowing how much they despised seeing him making himself right at home and even Choji more often than not, raiding the kitchen.

Neither man was their favorite guest, despite your father warning them to mind their tongues, they made sure to you and your friends well aware of their distaste for them. And in return, you made sure to have them over as often as possible.

The dark haired man looks up from his lap when the door to your hospital room slides open. There was yet another nurse there to administer even more medicine. He’d lost count at this point of how many times they would come in each day to drug you up again. He wasn’t allowed to know what they were giving you, he wasn’t family. So he would bid his time for your father to come and see you while he was there because he always seemed to just miss him each time.

“I know the drill,” he sighs as he stands, the nurse nodding as he leaves the room, sliding the door shut behind him so she could tend to you. He heads down the hall to the waiting room, standing at the window with his hands in his pockets.

He couldn’t remember a time when he’d been more terrified than the sight of you at the end of your match lying lifeless on the ground. In fact, he’s certain that was the first time he may have ever felt true fear. He was riddled with it, frozen. He has never frozen up like that before.

It was the reason why he never left your bedside until Asuma came and forced him away for the night or the nurses came in to check on you. But he was right back by your side the next morning, always bringing an extra breakfast sandwich just in case you were awake. It has been four days now and the doctors were saying you were due to wake any moment now.

He looks over his shoulder when he hears footsteps approaching, huffing when he sees Neji and TenTen. The woman smiles at him, raising a hand to wave, “How’s Y/N doing?” She offers a warm smile, hoping to bring a sense of comfort to the man who looks like he hasn’t slept in a week.

“Still not awake, such a drag…” He tucks his hands into his pockets and glances over at Neji, images of his fight with his own cousin and one of your closest friends flashing through his head.

Neji narrows his pale eyes at the man, holding a basket of fruit that TenTen was forcing him to carry. She said it would make him look like a caring friend to their own teammate who had yet to wake as well.

“All that fruit will rot before Lee wakes up too, you know?” Shikamaru turns back to the windows, leaning against the windowsill as he watches the street for Choji, knowing that now that it was around lunch, he would be showing up with something to eat for both of them while they both visit you.

Neji grits his teeth and yet calmly walks down the hallway to his teammates room, opting rather to ignore the man’s rather brash comment. He pauses about halfway there when he sees you in your hospital bed. It wasn’t the first time, though this time you were slowly moving, pushing yourself to sit up the best you could with how weak and sore you were.

He looks around and sees no one who he could get to help you, ultimately and reluctantly stepping in and setting the fruit basket down on your bedside table. Your gaze snaps up to meet his own as he slips an arm beneath yours, his other arm going around your waist to help you sit up against the headboard.

You hiss in pain and lean back, closing your eyes and letting out a deep breath. “Thank you,” you whisper, turning your head to meet his. Your throat feels scratchy and your mouth is dry. When you notice the fruit basket, you look up at him rather confused, “You brought a fruit basket?”

He has a moment of brief panic, but he can’t bring himself to tell you no. He knows you were expecting to see Shikamaru by your bedside and despite the echoing of his father’s words to make you his friend, of which he was still a bit put off by, he simply offers an awkward and weak smile.

You don’t say anything, taking note of how awkward he seems and you simply tear your gaze away. You look around the room and spot the water on the table beside the window. “Um, Neji…” He remains motionless, waiting for you to speak. “Can I have a glass of water? My throat… It hurts and my mouth is dry. That sound guy really took me out…” You laugh nervously and you don’t notice the brief flash of anger on his face, simply casting your gaze in the opposite direction of him.

He jumps up a little too quickly, going straight for the pitcher of water, pouring some into the glass before returning to your side. You take it and just like someone with absolutely no manners, you practically chug the water, a drop or two sliding down your chin. You sigh as you lower it, licking your lips and wiping your mouth, coughing quietly.

Neji looks at you with a bit of concern, opening his mouth to ask if you’re okay before your name is called rather loudly from the door. Choji rushes in with three bags of food in his hands, bringing way more than enough for the three of you to eat. Shikamaru steps in behind him and narrows his eyes at Neji, quickly wiping the look of distaste away as he sits beside you, setting the now empty glass down beside the basket.

With your attention elsewhere, answering all of Choji’s questions of concern, Neji quietly slips out of the room, abandoning all plans of going to see Rock Lee, mumbling to TenTen about whatever important business he has to tend to.

It briefly crosses his mind as he listens to you laugh and converse from down the hall of whether or not Lee and TenTen would have the same dedication to visiting him as your teammates do to you. He sighs softly, stepping out on the street and walking back towards his small apartment away from the Hyuga clan’s villa.

“Neji brought me a fruit basket,” you speak up, gesturing to the array of fresh fruit on the nightstand. Shikamaru raises an eyebrow, confused. As far as he was concerned that basket was meant to be taken to a still unconscious Rock Lee.

What had taken place to have caused Neji to leave it there?

He was someone who normally acted on impulse.

“Oh boy! That was nice of him! He must have a crush on you or something? He doesn’t usually do stuff like that!”

“No way!” Shikamaru huffs, “That guy doesn’t care about anyone but himself. There’s no way he’d have a crush on anyone.”

You laugh it off, shaking your head and throwing a rather annoyed and amused glance in Shikamaru’s direction. Choji looks between the two of you, taking a break from stuffing food in his mouth. He’s quiet, the only sound could be heard from the ruffling of his bag of chips.

“Don’t ever say something that stupid again, Choji.” He nods a bit, not taking Shikamaru’s words to heart. It wasn’t a big deal, he was joking.

Well, mostly.

Smack!

“Don’t hit them, you idiot!” Shikamaru groans, snatching the bag of chips from Choji that you had tried to take a few from, passing it right to you much to the other man’s dismay.

This man is your #1 fan. Everything you do he is behind you cheering and hollering the whole way. It doesn't matter if it's something stupid like trying to do a bottle flip, Naruto is gonna hype you up. He just adores you so much and wants you to know that! He wants you to know that he believes in you fully. When he isn't being a hype man, Naruto is just genuinely complimenting you and showing his appreciation for all you do. Sasuke Uchiha - Gift Giving

Sasuke is, uh... kinda rough when it comes to romance. He's gone through some shit and even after all these years doesn't quite know how to deal with it. He isn't good at words, is wary on physical contact, and isn't around often. But the one thing he succeeds in is giving you gifts. Sakura is a girl who heavily desires to be loved. Ever since she was a child she was a hopeless romantic, so when she finally got together with you she fell head over heels. She's quite open with her feelings for you both physically and vocally, but her favorite way to show she cares is by helping you around the house. She'll cook for you, help clean up, give you massages, and of course heal your wounds. As long as you are dating her you will never see another Medical-nin. You though SASUKE was bad with feelings? Dear lord you gotta have a lot of patience with Sai. Unlike Sasuke though, Sai tries his hardest, even if it's a bit rough. He tries to say nice things and touch you, but it's still incredibly foreign to him (not to mention he can get a bit brutally honest about some things). The only thing Sai is confident in is his gift giving skills. He loves to draw art for you, pretty much everything he sees inspires more art to give you. It's gotten to the point that you have a whole room filled with them (Sai keeps telling you it's okay to get rid of some, but you refuse! They are so pretty!). On special occassions, Sai loves to bring his drawings for you to life, enjoying the look of amazement on your face

Ino Yamanaka - Gift Giving

This girl is gonna treat you RIGHT, believe that! She's is incredibly open with her feelings, especially when it comes to flowers. You will be getting flowers for every occassion, sometimes just randomly. She'll buy you other gifts like jewelry and clothes and books, but her real love language is flowers. Her bouquets aren't just randomly put together either, Ino carefully hand picks each one and take in mind the meaning of each one. The longer you date you will soon learn the different meanings, which makes her so proud. Although she doesn't really expect anything back every time, make sure to get her a lil something for special occassions, she'll appreciate it~

Shikamaru Nara - Quality Time

We know Shikamaru is a lazy bitch, but that's what we love about him! He may seem distant and seemingly uncaring, but if you look closely you can clearly see how he shows affection. Sure he may not wash you with praises or get you expensive things, but he stays by your side. Always. Somehow he always is in the same room as you, even if you are doing two different things. You're always together in some sort. He'll definitely deny it, but you notice he doesn't leave still. It's kind of like a cat, ya know? Shikamaru gets especially clingy when you're in bed together. This man doesn't get up for hours, and you aren't getting up either. You will lay and sleep with him for 3 more hours, no discussion

Choji Akimichi - Acts of Service

Just... just so sweet. My boy is such a sweetie oh my god. Choji is quite nervous in your relationship, both due to low self-esteem and just anxiety in general. Just you surprising him with a hug is enough to fluster him for a solid minute. Since more direct ways get him anxious, Choji prefers to do things for you, and his favorite thing is to cook for you. This man can COOK like no one's business! You guys will go out to eat on the weekends (there is nothing like fresh barbecue), but through the week he is in the kitchen cooking your favorite meals full of love. Seeing your giant smile and hearing your satisifed eating makes his heart soar. Also, you are one of the only people who he'll always share his snacks with, no hesitation (the other is Shikamaru, obviously)

Kiba Inuzuka - Physical Touch

Kiba is a toucher, hands down. He LOVES to just touch you all over. He is always in contact with you no matter what, appropriate or otherwise. Hands on your waist, head on your shoulder, fingers in your hair, sometimes he will just randomly pick you up to get a reaction out of you. Let's be real, Kiba's a dog through and through, and dogs adore attention. Whenever he wants your attention or love, Kiba will poke you and bug you until you give in and cuddle with him. Spooning is his absolute favorite position. Give this man his head pats and belly rubs god dammit, and don't forget Akamaru!. Oh and uh, warning, this man is also perverted. Quite perverted. Your cuddle sessions will devolve into him dry humping you 50% of the time. You gonna get manhandled and groped quite a bit (every touch full of love <3)

Hinata Hyuga - Words of Affirmation

You thought Choji was shy? You haven't seen nothing yet. Hinata was already a sweating mess when you were just friends, the moment you asked her out she literally fainted and collapsed on the floor. Thankfully she is better now (and didn't get brain damage), but it's still nerve-wracking to be in a relationship with you. You're just so... perfect. And Hinata wants you to know that. Throughout the day she is normally very sweet and appreciative, but whenever you are on dates or cuddling in private, she lets all her feelings out. She shares her admiration for you, her appreciation for you, and just how happy she is to have you in her life. It always makes you cry, which makes Hinata feel bad, but you always assure her they are happy tears

Shino is a man of little words, and you knew that going into a relationship, so you have no issues with that! It makes the times he does speak up mean even more. Since he's inexperienced with relationships and romantic gestures, Shino's main way to show he cares is by protecting you and keeping you safe. He always is ready to defend you in public, and whenever you go somewhere alone he gives you one of his bugs so he can know you're safe. Anyone who even tries to harass or injure you is getting shot down immedietely. Losing you or you getting hurt is one of his biggest fears, and he'll never let that happen. You'll never feel unsafe when Shino is around

Rock Lee - All of Them

You can call this a cop out, but let's be real, Lee is the embodiment of EVERY love language. He never stops gushing to you about your beauty and skills, and screams how much he loves you from the rooftops. Anything you ask him to do will be done in record time perfectly. He loves to give you extravagent gifts for your anniversaries and random occasions. Spending time with you is his favorite thing in the world, especially when you train together. And physical touch? He is always happy to hug and kiss you all over. Lee is just full of love for you!! He knows he can be a bit overwhelming at times and will calm down if you tell him. He just is so grateful to have you in his life, and wants you to know that every day for the rest of your life

Neji Hyuga - Words of Affirmation

It may come as a shock to most due to his sharp tongue, but the way Neji shows his love is by words. To most he is aggressive and stand-offish, and ocassionally is to you too. It's just how he is unfortunately. But unlike with others, he is noticabely incredibly soft with you and is much more open. Neji isn't afraid to compliment how you look or give praise when you succeed at something. Even when he gets annoyed he doesn't raise his voice or throw insults at you, he stays respectful. The fact that he calls everyone an idiot except you says a whoooole lot about how he feels about you. Wear that honor with pride

Tenten - Quality Time

Tenten is pretty easy going and prefers a partner who is the same. Of course some spice and excitement is greatly welcomed, but at the end of the day she just wants to sit back and relax with her partner. So spending time together means a lot to her. She loves going on dates where you guys try something new (just no long hikes, please) but if needed will default to the local weapon museum. By the way, everytime one of you has to go on a mission, Tenten will act cool but will secretly pout the whole time until you meet up again

Gaara - Physical Touch

As he's grown, Gaara has turned into a real sweetheart. With you he is incredibly gentle and cares for you deeply. You are his treasure, you deserve the world. He still is dealing with social anxiety, and can be a bit awkward sometimes. But Gaara is always comfortable touching and holding you. His touches are gentle and kind, and sensual when he wants. He likes to give gentle kisses all over you throughout the day, and whenever he leaves for work he gives you a loving kiss before he leaves. Gaara also really values cuddling together. This man is touch starved like no one else, everytime you hold eachother he feels like a part of him is healing. Please reciprocate, he deserves it

Temari - Words of Affirmation

Temari is fiery as hell, and you knew that the moment you met. And her words are just as sharp! She isn't afraid to tell off people who annoy you guys (especially when you are on dates, they are DEAD). With you she is still mildly aggressive and intense, but in a more lighthearted way. She just gets so worried about you, she can't help herself from scolding you for being an idiot. Every word she says (positive or negative) comes from the heart. When you manage to not be a fool Temari is vocalising her approval and pride. Oh, and she has a habit of openly bragging about how amazing you are to your peers (much to your embarrassment)

Kankuro - Quality Time

This man is a teeeeeease (in a good way or bad way, your decision). He is constantly joking and making fun of you, reveling in your cute annoyance. He even likes to annoy you physically like blowing on your neck or pinching your butt. Kankuro is quite playful pretty much 95% of the time, but the other 5% he's actually quite sweet. Spending time with you is his favorite thing in the world! Yeah it's fun messing with you, but he likes to just have genuine connections and going on more mature dates. His favorite thing is dancing surprisingly, and he honestly is quite good. Holding you close and swaying makes him content ... Until he sneaks in one of his puppets halfway through, scaring the shit out of you in the process (he slept on the couch but it was worth it)
