This incredibly gorgeous portrait of my OTP is by the amazing ArtbyAinna (Insta). I've been holding onto this art for almost 2 years. I can't even begin to express how much I love this piece. It is one of my favorites of them ever. It's so tender and soft and romantic and it's so very, very much them. I truly can't thank Ainna enough for bringing this vision to life.
The ballroom gleamed with soft hues of gold, set against brilliant black. Flickers of gold twinkled like stars in the night upon the ceiling. The shimmering decor exuded elegance, while the subdued lighting provided a warm, inviting ambiance for the luxurious New Year’s Eve charity gala. The event began with a cocktail reception, followed by a charity auction, and finally, a countdown to the New Year celebration.
While most of the guests let loose near the bar or on the dance floor, moving to the beats of a famed DJ he had never heard of, Thomas and Alex found themselves drawn to a quieter corner, avoiding the boisterous revelry. The strands of lights behind them warmed them with their golden glow, a serene environment for the pair to lose themselves together while the year ticked away.
Their movements were slow and graceful as the pair swayed to a melody of their own. Thomas held Alex close in his gentle embrace, his hands resting softly on the small of her back. Alex’s arms circled around his neck as she nestled her head on his shoulder. Her eyes closed, relaxing in the comfort of his arms. She knew if it were up to him, he would have left the second the auction had ended, perhaps even before, had they accepted his offer to purchase a few pieces before the event. But still, he was here with her—because of her. A radiant smile spread across her lips; there was nothing he wouldn’t do for her, but that feeling was mutual.
“I love you,” she whispered softly. She tipped her head slightly, her gaze meeting his.
His lips brushed gently against her forehead, placing a tender, lingering kiss. “I love you, too, my Alex.”
The cheers of celebration grew louder, the countdown to the New Year beginning.
“Would you like to join in?” He questioned, though his arms remained warmly around her.
“I have everything I need right here.”
“I could not agree more.”
They leaned in, their lips meeting in a tender kiss even before the countdown was completed.
As cheers of “Happy New Year” filled the space, the pair stayed together, locked in a loving embrace. No matter what the future held, as long as they were together, they would make it through.
“Ready to go?” Alex whispered when they parted. She held her hand toward him.
"Almost." He couldn't resist stealing one more kiss. It was the first of many kisses to follow, but it was enough for now “Happy New Year, my love”

He laced his fingers with hers, guiding her out of the ballroom, without a glance back toward the party, still in full strength. All they needed was each other, their children safely asleep at home, and their beloved black lab.
As much as I'd love to hold onto it, I feel like it's time to share it with the world. I know Thomas and Alex aren't a popular pairing but I appreciate any and all support of them now and always.They will always be the couple that I hold closest to my heart.

I'm gonna need kunning palace to give me a lot of the main otp in the last episodes, we have 8 left (this is why I don't f*ck with this 40 ep rule because now that we're getting the main relationship the show is over and everything that came before was also necessary). I'm gonna need to see how deep JXN's love for him becomes, I know people are obsessed with dedicated ML but I enjoy otps where it's more equal and I love seeing a female lead protect and support her otp the way he does her, even if it takes a while like in ming lan she had completely reasonable issues and took a while to warm up to him but when she did she was 1000% in and showed just how much she loved him, I personally don't appreciate unbalanced relationships where it's just one party sacrificing and being a lot more dedicated no matter the genders.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS
Hard to say, depends on how close they stay to the book. They've been quite faithful to the novel so far but at the point we are now is where I feel fairly confident that we're gonna diverge. Because in the novel the otp gets VERY dark before they get better. There's a reason why Xie Wei has been holding himself back & restraining his emotions. He's a whole mess of anxiety & PTSD and he has to work through his traumas. Both these characters have been a burningdog.gif meme and saying everything is just fiiiiiiiine but in the novel when they finally get alone on center stage together things get REAL because it's masks off. And underneath they are a whole mess.
imo the key to this pairing, and why we don't get a love confession from her until the very end, is what she thinks when she finally publically claims him (fittingly, she doesn't claim the lauded scholar but the unhinged figure that the public now finds monstrous):
Shen Zhiyi asked: "Ning Ning, do you know what kind of person he is?”
Jiang Xuening said, "I know."
This person forced her to kill in his previous life; even in this life, he still thought about taking her to die with him. He is definitely not a good person. How could she not know?
It can even be said that she knows better than anyone else. Because she has seen his truest and craziest side.
Shen Zhiyi asked again: "Do you like him?"
Jiang Xuening thought for a while and said, "I like him."
At this moment, Xie Wei's palm trembled slightly, but there seemed to be thousands of lights and shadows passing by in his mind, and finally there was nothing left, just staring at her blankly.
Yan Lin stood too far away, no one could see his blurred expression clearly.
Shen Zhiyi also didn't speak for a long time.
She didn't fully agree, she was afraid that her Ning Ning would be sad because of the wrong choice, but she couldn't stop her, and all her worries finally turned into one sentence: "Then you really know what you are doing now?"
Jiang Xuening smiled at her: "I understand."
And not only know what to do now, but also what to do in the future.
So calmly: "I want to marry him."

That night, he asked her once, but she didn't answer, so he never dared to ask again.
But now she says she wants to marry him. Xie Wei suddenly couldn't tell whether this was real or a dream: didn't she want to leave him and go find Zhang Zhe?
Jiang Xuening also saw that he didn't comprehend. "You are really, extremely smart, but you just don't like people."
Talking about love, this person is stupid to death.
I am too afraid of losing what I have, and I seem to think that what I have will eventually be lost, so I am paranoid, extreme, and I refuse to show weakness to others and say all those words.
Jiang Xuening felt that this person was too similar to her previous self.
There are some things that I don't understand, so I bash my head against it.
She blinked, with tears in her eyes, but took his hand, tiptoed to kiss his cool thin lips."

Part of the reason she feels so deeply for him is their deep down similarity, but the novel is Jiang Xuening's journey to love & accept herself, letting go of the pain & shame from the past. She doesn't reach this point until the end, where she recognizes and accepts her own darkness and thus his, and also believes it doesn't need to define their future. Everyone now thinks she is the saint and he's the sinner but she knows they are both.
The novel epilogue shows they are finding a peaceful life together, the urge to fight and claw at life and each other has finally passed. But though in the last 30% of the novel we get tons of couple-time, all the gestures of devotion are coming from him. She's not ready. I frankly have no idea how much the drama will change the last 30%, and it won't land the same cause I'm sure they have to tone down how scary the ML gets...but regardless I do think we won't get a confession until the last act.

Psst top Wheel of Time ships and characters? (Also can I ask for any of your thoughts on Nynaeve?)
I should do a whole separate post on Nynaeve honestly but suffice it to say for this one that I love her very very much, didn't appreciate her nearly enough on my first read but appreciate her more every reread since.
since I love lists, here's a couple lists for you
CHARACTERS
Rand al'Thor. I don't usually latch onto protagonists but when I do they're depressed and a mess! And that's Rand for you. I really appreciate the way that Jordan plays with the Chosen One archetype specifically by looking at the damage it does/can do to a person, and the way that Rand is gradually wrecked by the weight of prophecy and expectation such that the only way to escape it, in the end, is to become not himself. Whatever my feelings about his ending (not entirely positive), I think there's a very painful and poignant statement in there.
Ishamael/Moridin/Elan Morin Tedronai. Who doesn't love a fatalistic villain longing for oblivion and believing that serving evil is the only way to get it! I'm sure that's universal. I wrote sort of a character study of him and I think personally it is one of my underappreciated fics. Couldn't say why, I don't know how this isn't a subject that everyone is clamoring to read.
Min Farshaw. My beloved since the first time I read the series and I don't think it's just because she had short hair like me, though that's probably part of it. I think I just enjoy the way she thinks, her narration, the way she's simultaneously deeply caring and a little bit snarky, the way that she interacts with fate and inevitability. I don't know, I struggle to articulate it. I just know that I loved her first as a character and I still love her.
Tuon (Fortuona) Athaem Kore Paendrag. My problematic fave (other than, I guess, the aforementioned nihilistic actual antagonist). I just...she's fascinating. She's a cipher. She's the embodiment of an evil empire and absolutely going to oversee its downfall. She craves absolute control and copes poorly with not having it. Her dynamic with Mat is my favorite relationship in the series. What a gal.
Nynaeve al'Vere. In contrast to Min, I didn't appreciate Nynaeve enough on early reads (I didn't dislike her, I just didn't appreciate her enough), but that's thoroughly changed and at this point I do think she's one of my favorite characters. She's so contradictory and an unreliable narrator but in a very particular way that I feel like I don't run into very often. She's so much fun to read about, and also trying so hard to prove herself, and so determined to help people (even when they maybe don't want to be helped). She's a healer first and foremost and never loses sight of that, or of her resolve to protect her people. What a gal. But in a very different way than the above.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Mat Cauthon and Aviendha.
SHIPS
Mat/Tuon. I said their dynamic was my favorite in the series and I meant it. They have such a good courtship, the way they dance around each other and play off each other and play their relationship like a game of strategy is so much fun for me.
Rand/Min. If Min was my first favorite character then Rand/Min was my first OTP (and incidentally the first pairing I wrote porn for!). I think my favorite thing about them is the way that they're friends, or feel like it, in a way that Rand doesn't always feel like friends with the other ladies. Sometimes I appreciate that in a pairing. They just seem like they enjoy each other's company even outside of the romantic aspect, and I love that for them.
Aviendha/Elayne. Welcome to the gayest ostensibly sister relationship in the whole series!!!! No honestly though on reread I was like "how is this not explicitly a thing, I mean, I know why, but Jordan you've established some people are gay in this universe and you have Aviendha lovingly describing Elayne's naked body and, again, the gayest sister-making ceremony I've read, and tell me that they're not totally and completely, romantically and sexually, in love? Fie, I say. Lies and foolishness. They're in love and they're so valid for it.
Nynaeve & Rand. Sneaking an & ship on here! Especially as the series goes on, their relationship is soooo important to me. There's a short list of people who care about Rand-as-Rand with no ulterior motives beyond that, and Nynaeve is near the top of that list. And I love, too, that their dynamic isn't romantic in the least.
Tuon/Egwene. @highladyluck pretty much single-handedly sold me on this one and I'm so glad she did. Absolutely brilliant and galaxy brained. Egwene should've lived just so she and Tuon could have a hideously complicated enemyship. The missed opportunities.

Charlie's Halloween party was coming up fast, and Dean had the perfect costumes in mind. Trouble was, he couldn't get Cas to go along with it.
"Come on, Cas! For me?" he pleaded, sending his boyfriend a steamy look. Cas ignored him for a moment, pulling on his jeans and bending to dig through his drawer for a shirt.
"Dean, for the last time… I agree that you will make an excellent Flynn Ryder, but I'm not putting on a fifteen-foot wig to go as Rapunzel!"
"But, babe!" Dean joked, "you'd look so cute in a too-small lavender dress!"
Cas rolled his eyes, his shoulders and head moving with the force of his exasperation. He tossed his t-shirt and a pair of socks on the bed, then planted his hands on his hips while facing Dean squarely.
"I already said I'd dress in a Disney costume. In fact, I'm pretty damn sure you're going to love what I've picked out."
"Wait a sec, not fair!" Dean protested. "You know what I'm wearing, why don't I get to know what your costume is gonna be?"
"Because I have a bet for you, love," Cas murmured smugly, stepping into Dean's space with that damn dommy eyebrow raised. Dean's breath caught and he could feel his cock twitch in interest. Cas was trying to distract him. He wasn't going to let him.
"What kinda bet?" he asked, setting a hand on Cas' waist and tugging him closer.

"I dunno, sounds like a win-win to me," he murmured against Cas' skin, enjoying the way goosebumps lifted as he skated his fingertips lightly up Cas' sides. He used one hand to grab hold of Cas' pecs, squeezing it with a rough moan. "Dammit, babe, you know I can't concentrate when you're standing here tits-out, so fuckin' sexy…"

Oh Demeter is definitively the little spoon! And that means Tantomile would be the big spoon. Which really fits since I see Tantomile as a lot taller than Demeter.

Well on first thought I would say Demeter since yk, it's Demeter. But I think Tantomile would worry more about Demeter's mental health and anxienty. So in short, both.

Demeter does it most of the times, especially when they're in public. But alone Tantomile would maybe give a kiss or two.

Coricopat couldn't be happier for Tantomile, he knows Tantomile is more of an introvert so for her to find someone so special just makes him, well happy.
And the same goes for Bombalurina and Munkustrap. They both know the two of them are perfect for each other.

I don't think either of really uses pick up lines. But Demeter would definitively do them just to get an eyeroll from Tantomile.

Oh... When Tantomile realised her feelings for Demeter was love... And for me that would be during the ball. Yk, when Macavity shows up and tries to kidnap Demeter. Yeah... Tantomile realises right then and there just when Demeter is in danger. That's why Tantomile runs to protect her after Demeter manages to get away. She needs to keep her safe, Tantomime can't lose her after she just realised how much she needs Demeter. After she realised just how much she loves Demeter.

Character ask: Mr. and Mrs. Bennet (Pride and Prejudice)
Favorite thing about them: They're both funny characters in their different ways: Mr. Bennet intentionally, Mrs. Bennet unintentionally.
Least favorite thing about them: Well, they're both basically terrible parents to their daughters and terrible spouses to each other. Mrs. Bennet's own foolish behavior makes all the troubles she worries about much worse, while Mr. Bennet's habit of doing nothing except mocking it all is both unkind and irresponsible.
On a meta level, I do sometimes wonder if Austen's portrayal of Mrs. Bennet shows classism (since her socially ignorant behavior stems at least in part from her lower-class background – although her brother Mr. Gardiner doesn't share her faults), and/or internalized misogyny (while Mr. Bennet's flaws are made clear, we never quite lose the sense that Mrs. Bennet is meant to be seen as worse). I understand why so many readers think her portrayal is unfair and mean-spirited, though I'm not sure if I agree.
Three things I have in common with them:
Mrs. Bennet:
*I can be neurotic.
*I can be over-enthusiastic.
*I sometimes make social faux pas.
Mr. Bennet:
*I prefer reading to socializing.
*I can be irresponsible, especially with money.
*I like Elizabeth Bennet.

*If I had daughters, even if I lived in Georgian England, I would rather they stay single than be married to the likes of Mr. Collins or Wickham.

*I'm less witty than he is.
*If I had children, I would remember my duties to them.

Random headcanon: Mrs. Bennet's first name is Jane. Just because the 1995 miniseries calls her "Fanny" doesn't make that name canon, and in the 18th and 19th centuries, it was common for one daughter in a family, usually the eldest, to be named after her mother.
Unpopular opinion: We don't need to choose whether to side with Mr. Bennet or Mrs. Bennet. This isn't a case of "one is right, the other is wrong" or "one is the good parent, the other is the bad parent." They both have sympathetic qualities, yet they both have glaring faults that nearly ruin their daughters' futures too. The old-school viewpoint of "Mr. Bennet is the likable, sensible parent; Mrs. Bennet is an idiot" and the more recently popular viewpoint of "Mrs. Bennet is just trying to secure her daughters' futures; Mr. Bennet is the bad parent" are both faulty and reductive.

I love the bit where Fuyao takes on an army and the way the prefecture princess is just casually killing scores of slaves because why not. That society!!!
Psycho alert as this crazy expresses her wishes of slowly torturing Fuyao to death.
I lose my mind over Wuji, who's spinning plots within plots and for whom this whole podunk kingdom is basically yet another test by his psycho daddy (can he bring it to heel with no back up from the governing empire?) but who totally ditches his plots (man couldn't be caught by the entire might of the chancellor) and his freaking bodily safety in order to jump in front of Fuyao's sword because he saw psycho's secret darts and knows Fuyao will be dead before she reaches.
Man literally got a chest wound to protect her. He's so terrified she is about to be killed or dragged off for torture and makes these split seconds plans...
And then it gets better as you watch this one unarmed man talk a way out for Fuyao from a psycho with an army and an obsession with torturing Fuyao to death. Seriously - the fact that he's able to walk off with Fuyao under these circs is insane. (Side note - it is blessing for the continent that manipulator and schemer tho he is, he's not a psychopath, or that continent would stand no chance.)
I love Fuyao, but she will never be a schemer and she has a lot more in common with Zhan Beiye than Wuji in her straightforwardness (I love love that she and ZBY end up as best bros - they really are so similar - and their OTPs are people not very much like them at all.)
And then psycho is all this is great, now I am dragging her off...God, the way you see his panic...
And they club her and you see him lose it tho he cannot show it...and he starts being even quicker and more desperate to get her out of there.
This is so fucking gross. Lady, I hate you. And the way he implies all these things with his gross comment - yeeesh and he knows exactly what would appeal to the psycho (makes me think of the contrast of the scene way way later when someone actually DOES try to sexually assault her - and of course Fuyao stops it without assistance and castrates the man - but the way Wuji loses it; that's the first time the entire drama we see him that broken.)
The way he's able to walk off with Fuyao is insane...
PS God I love them, they came to her rescue. (And also shows what a dummy prefecture princess is - she has just pissed off the best general on the continent and also actually future king of blah country and his queen. Congrats!)

A Curse for True Love
A note: Apologies for the sudden onslaught of Evajacks posts. This is what happens when you discover a series so late in the game.
After waiting for it for 2 1/2 weeks, I finally got to read A Curse for True Love. I have to spill all the feels I am feeling over this series, because they are many.
While not as good as BONA, there is still some really good material. This love story is one of the best that you can get from books that resemble fairytales. There is something so profound about it, and deep. I mean, you have the fact that you get both Evangeline and Jacks being victims of curses and danger. It was a true fight for true love. It reminded of some of my favorite fictional couples.
For the cursed angle, it was giving Captain Swan (but done better...yeah, I said it), as well as Snowing. With Jacks pushing Evangeline away to keep her safe from him, it was very similar to Dimitri pushing Rose away in Spirit Bound and Last Sacrifice, which I love. Let me add, Jacks watching Evangeline and longing from afar was reminiscent of Peter watching Mary Jane after being rescued in SM2, and the ending scene of the CW BatB pilot. I need more literature like that.
I just love the simplicity of this series. It's so straightforward; nothing convoluted like you see in certain romantasies. And I believe I saw a booktuber (at least I think it was this series) say that the stakes are more realistic and higher**, which I have to agree with. You have the FMC trying to find a second love she can be happy with, seemingly finds it, then becomes enamored with the MMC. She knows that he is unable to be with her, but is determined to find a way to be with him. With the MMC, he's wanted love, thought he found it, but she backstabbed him. Now he's bitter, and does nefarious things. However, he slowly falls for the FMC unexpectedly, but doesn't want to hurt her, thus pushing her away. It all changes when she is killed, and he goes back in time to fix it because of how much he loves her. But it all goes wrong when the FMC's false love takes her memories. Fast forward to MMC trying to thwart the husband, or any way FMC may be endangered, trying to protect her so she can live. However, he is going to make sure he doesn't try to interact with her too much, and makes plans to disappear from her life forever. It hurts him immensely, but, like before, feels he has to. She regains her memories, discovers his plans, and she has a race against time before he destroys the thing that allows him to love. There is lots of begging, confessions, pushing/pulling, and the like. She makes a move and BAM! Curse lifted. Only, after all of that, the false love kidnaps her and MMC has to still fight to be with her. Totally no big deal, right? LOL.
What I liked about the curse breaking is that they both had to believe in their love. At first I was confused as to why the cuff hurt him when Jacks tried to kiss Evangeline, but it's because that his second heart isn't in close proximity, so, he wasn't in his right mind. He probably didn't think she loved him the way he loved her. Subconsciously he likely did, yet it wasn't until she said those words and risked her life to physically show him.
Anyway, my whole point is this: Evajacks has now topped Feysand within my top 3 book OTPs in terms of overcoming odds and development. Seriously, the guy was going to destroy his ability to feel because he couldn't bear losing her again...at his hand. That is real sacrifice. What Rhysand did pales in comparison.

No idea what this gif is from, but I couldn't resist. While ultimately I do think it was part of the writer's insensitivity to polyamory to have Halsin be relationship averse, and then turn his epilogue content into fan service — I really like aromantic Halsin expressing love in his own way and not wanting "a relationship" or labels.
Étoile x Zevlor
I don't remember what's being said in this scene, but the romance in the movie Snow Cake is a Very Small part of the movie, but Alan Rickman's character does have a complicated relationship with Carrie-Ann Moss's character — a win for "fucking that old man." The main character of the film is dealing with life after having assaulted (and accidentally killed) the drunk driver who hit and killed his child. He is also present / indirectly responsible (but feels greatly responsible) for the death of a hitchhiker, which brings him to Wawa, Ontario where he meets the hitchhiker's mother, a disabled (autistic?) woman played by Sigourney Weaver. It's a really heavy movie that I only saw once but the layers of it and the fleeting comforts and difficult intimacy of it made this a good gif for what's going on with Étoile and poor Zevlor.
Étoile x Komira x Locke
Another Sense8 gif. The woman in the middle, Kala, had a lot of anxiety about being in love with the man on the left Wolfgang, while living a life that was leading her to be with her betrothed, the man on the right, Rajan. This is also an extremely small sideplot of this show that was hastily wrapped up in the movie / final "episode." It was kind of silly but tbh I enjoyed this particular "unrealistic" resolution where Rajan was willing to explore what love would look like (even initially in an extremely sexual sense) with Wolfgang if it meant Kala's happiness / not losing her heart. A fair, if inaccurate, comparison to be made for how in my primary canon-compliant state for Étoile, I'd ship them with werewolf!Komira but leave Locke to his fate in the House of Healing; though I'd imagine the three of them would have very enthusiastic joy and supportive love in other au's.
Étoile x He Who Was
I wanted to find a gif of love of someone/thing that was not completely human for He Who Was. I first thought of Meet Joe Black, and the few surreal moments, and the moment when his love interest asks him to stay, but I couldn't find a gif of the exact moment I wanted. I'd only seen The Time Traveller's Wife movie once and it was straighter than I remembered, the dialogue in the gifs I found was all wrong for Étoile and He Who Was' dynamic. I just wanted reference to the waiting, to the loss, to the not knowing if your supernatural love would return. Oh well. Instead I was looking up characters described as masochists (intended for He Who Was, but I guess observations can be made about Étoile which would be ... entirely correct), and found Marko from The Lost Boys, like the rest of them. In the scene I chose, they're initiating a (the?) protagonist into their vampire gang, jumped from a bridge and hanging to the beams while a train rushes overhead, scaring their initiate and having the time of their lives. I think He Who Was has a manic excitable laugh in his euphoria and that he enjoys the presence of danger, negotiated and known not to be a sincere threat against him and his holy missions. He and Étoile have a lot of fun in the limitations of a relationship across planes.

i love how messy she is and is allowed to be . she goes back on her word, she's a hypocrite, she's distrustful, she's rude, she doesn't always know what to say, she's sometimes a coward, she's selfish .. but she learns and grows and changes and adapts . and she still makes mistakes ! even when it feels like she should have it all figured out . she grieves . and she stays true to her ideals when it counts, and she never loses real hope in what she believes in . she's selfless but she's also strong enough to do what she does for her own reasons, even when she's all alone and can't use her evoker yet . she stays behind to make sure you're okay after you put yourself in the line of fire for her . and when she's the one to kickstart everyone's use of theurgy, she does it protecting someone . YUKARI TAKEBA I LOVE YOU ! i will shut up now, or there will be pages of this ^_^
