Purring tutorial!

(pt: Purring tutorial! /end pt)

i've seen a few fellow feline therians asking for purring help, so here it is!

press the tip of your tongue to the inside of your front two bottom teeth and then slide it down until you can't anymore*. close your mouth almost all the way but leave at least a tiny opening or it won't work. make sure the back of your tongue is slightly touching the back of your upper pallet and breathe into your mouth. if it doesn't work or you want a different frequency of purr, try adjusting your tongue, changing how much of a gap you left between your lips**, or changing how hard your teeth are pressed together.

*how loud, quiet, chirpy, breathy, or growly your purr is mostly depends on how far down your tongue is. if you want a quieter, breathier purr try only bringing your tongue down half way. if you want a louder purr, bring it all the way down and even slide it as far back as you can.

**to get the gap size i've found works best, make small duck lips (?) and squeeze your teeth together. (this also clears congestion lmao)

Are there any werewolves out there that would be down to share how they accepted/came to terms with being a werewolf?

I’m fairly certain I am a werewolf, but I have this guilt around the identity for a while, it has made it hard for me to accept that I am one. I’ve had what I can only describe as werewolf feelings, urges, and shifts off and on for years, but have kind of forced myself to ignore them due to the anger and intensity that comes with them. I have no issues maintaining control over my feelings of course, but I can’t help but feel guilty for having such a high prey drive or thinking violent things.

I also have a lot of species dysphoria surrounding being a werewolf, it hurts a lot knowing I’ll only be half of what I should be, knowing that I’ll never be able to transform. Tips on managing that grief would also be greatly appreciated.

I’m seeing a strange amount of alterhumans who are both therians and fictionkin but having two separate blogs for each identity (myself included) and I wanted to see why that is

The reason I dropped all fictionkin mentions on this blog was because in the past, I wasn’t really seen as the character I was, on the same level as the animal species I was. But this whole thing was my experience and I wanted to ask for the stories of others to see if this is a reoccurring thing or not?

Those who don’t mention their fictionkinity at all, what’s your reason?

And those who do share all of their identity on their ‘main’ blog, what has the response been?

And anything else in between, give me your answers!

Requesting some help!

I'm currently working on a big long post basically debunking all the most common anti-otherkin talking points. But I'm running out of ideas. This community is my safe space and I block the haters as soon as I see them so I'm not really getting exposed to that many arguments!

If anyone has any ideas for discussion points I could tackle I'd love to hear them. Well, not really, it sucks that people talk crap about us. But I'd love to contribute to dispelling some of the rumours about us. What I have so far is:

"You're doing it for attention!"

"Otherkin is a mental illness/dangerous for mentally ill people!"

"It's just roleplay"

"There are no otherkin of bugs and fish and unpopular animals, only pretty looking things like wolves and foxes and dragons."

"Otherkin steal art and images!" (This one is unfortunately true but I go into how we are working to reduce this in the community)

"It's a white people thing"

For all my domestic therian s out there who want to wear a collar but family ridicule you for it/it’s something you might get teased for:

At hobby lobby and Joanne’s, they have leather straps with snaps on them, they look like this

And make wonderful collar substitutes. You can even decorate them if you want! They’re very soft, and can easily come off if they’re caught in something! They’re in the jewelry and beads section.

They aren’t as expensive as things sold specifically as collars too, so if you aren’t able to spend a lot on gear but really want a collar, they’re awesome!

tips/advice for connecting with wild kintypes for anon !

go outside and connect with nature!! if you can, try to find areas that are similar to your kintypes habitats!!

learn about your kintypes as much as you can!!

eat foods that you would have eaten as your kintype, as long as its safe and doesnt conflict with any dietary restrictions!!

take your hand at drawing your kintypes!! it can help you visualize what you look like!!

if your kintype lived in dens/caves/etc, make some a blanket fort and curl up in there!!

decorate your room with items that resemble your kintypes habitats!! some ideas ive seen are faux vines, fuzzy blankets that look like moss/other foliage, moss rugs, hanging cloud lights made from cotton balls, etc!! get creative!!

I can’t help but feel like my species somehow has a connection with swamp witches

This is how I think it would go

The witch would live in a cottage by a bog and I would protect them from witch hunters

I was almost like a familiar to them and while I’m not a fan of humans, Witches seemed to be nicer and more understanding towards me than most people

I kinda miss that feelings of knowing just ONE human but they gave me food so it was suddenly cool that I was hanging out with them

But idk shit about my kintype so I could be wrong about all of this
