i wish that otherhearted wasnt (at least in my experience) kinda pushed as being “therian lite” or like a lesser identity because it really isnt. my connection to lions & big cats in general is so deep-rooted that ive mistaken it as therianthropy on multiple accounts. however because i dont identify as a big cat it has never felt right. otherhearted is the right term but its portrayal has warped the term for me to the point where it feels like it isnt.

i am proudly lionhearted & big -cathearted. i am proudly cerdivdaehearted. i dont need a different label because of how deep that connection is; because thats what otherhearted is.

i often feel like an outsider in alterhuman circles. some fictionkin see me as "taking things too seriously" with, you know, *identifying as a fictional character fully* as if that isnt what the name implies. no, im not under a delusion, i thought i was just like you. i have multiple kintypes and theriotypes. i am conceptkin. i am songkin. i hate having to search and search and search for anyone else like me, or at the very least someone who isnt going to see me as "too weird" or "faking it" when i am *just like you*. my body is christmas and my body is a hare and my body is music no matter how it looks on the outside, the same way my body is male no matter how it looks on the outside. why is that so wrong? i wish it were easier to find others like me. i hate being too afraid to express myself without being called delusional by the very community who i thought were the only ones who would be able to see me for who i really am.

I’ve been seeing a lot of tiktoks lately about ‘fake therians choosing their theriotype’

But we shouldn’t jump to conclusions with everyone.

You might see a MLP fan say they’re a pony therian.

You might see a furry who’s theriotype is the same animal as their fursona.

You might see someone with the very common wolf theriotype.

To use myself as an example, you might see an autistic with a special interest of the lion king be a lion therian.

Some see these types of therians and think ‘they’re not a real therian, they just have a favourite animal.’

But to me, my lifelong attachment to lions was the most telling sign that I am one.

i like it!!! I enjoy pretty much any cartoon/anime based on lions though, im a little biased ;-;

Seeing 15 year olds making cutesy posts about how to act like your kin type or decorate your room like a den or whatever just... warms my heart in such a tender and specific way. Its the sweetest rebellion in the face of a culture that demands every teenager behave aloof and as palatable to one of three mainstream aesthetics as possible. I wish every kid had such courage and such passion for their individuality. I love it. Every time a young teen makes a kin aesthetic post the world becomes a more delightful, accepting place where kids are allowed to be kids and adults are allowed to have fun

“Species Dysphoria” (2021)

I’ve been waiting to post this one for a little while now! This comic was made for the Inky Paws Zine, a collaborative fiction zine created by nonhumans and alterhumans!

In hindsight, I should’ve probably leaned a little bit more into making this a fictional piece to better fit the zine’s theme…nevertheless, I’m still happy with it! This was something I created to try and articulate some of my personal feelings about my species dysphoria through the lens of someone who’s also trans, and maybe feels that those two identities are really the same.
