You looked over at the school grounds, enjoying the sunshine as you leaned out in the fields. Ortego had decided he wanted to grace you with his presence this day and was looking through one of the bushes. He pulled something out before handing it to you. It was a small berry that you popped into your mouth without question as Ortego had turned back around to grab more.

"Hey, eat this berry, I need to know if it's poisonous." Ortego said and you paused. You finished chewing the berry in your mouth before turning over to him.

"You were joking...right?" You asked and Ortego turned back over and noticed the berry he handed you was gone. He stared at you for a moment before bursting out laughing.

"Did you seriously eat it?" He asked and you felt your cheeks warming.

"I did it before you said anything!" You hissed back.

"Why would you just eat a berry that someone hands you?" He asked, still laughing as he wiped a tear from his eyes.

"I don't know! You handed it to me and I ate it. Simple!" You exclaimed, "Now say sike! Say it wasn't poisonous!" You said before Ortego got suddenly serious.

"I won't lie...I don't know what this berry is...we should probably take you to the nurse." Ortego said and you gaped at him. This was the last time you'd ever eat something he handed you.

“You’ll, heh..” Troy laughed nervously now, rubbing his neck “..you’ll see that’s a thing with me.“ 

“What is?“

Ah, so she was still able to speak.

“Going about things the wrong way.” Troy answered, calmer now that she was engaging in the conversation again and he felt less scrutinized for every word he uttered. And wasn’t that exactly how he treated others? He was almost about to laugh at himself over this when what Ri said next peaked his interest. 

“Yeah, I know a thing or two about that.” it was as if the words slipped from her unwillingly and her entire demeanor changed into something even more tired. Something sad. But the defeated kind. 

“Oh yeah? Like what?” Troy didn’t mean to sound enthusiastic but well...he was.
