jake found himself suddenly walking into the counseling office, he had no idea why he was getting called in but he just hoped he wasn’t in trouble (even though he hasn’t done anything..)
he sat outside of his counselors office, waiting for the counselor to finish talking to whatever student she was talking to. he sat there for a little bit, scrolling through his phone to see jay and sunghoon bicker in the groupchat as always and waiting later for the nights with lofi channel to release a new playlist.
the door suddenly opened to see a student walk out and his counselor, ms chung, walk out to see jake sitting on a chair. “hi jake! come on in!” she happily said as he smiled at her and grabbed his backpack, walking into her small office.
ms chung as one of those counselors where you could talk to her about anything and she wouldn’t tell a soul about it. jake was lucky he was able to have her as his counselor. jake sat on the small but comfortable couch she had.
“okay so i just wanted to talk to you about something with your schedule, and by the way you are not in trouble if that’s what your thinking!” ms chung said reassuring him, putting her glasses on. jakes heart stopped beating out of his chest of anxiousness. thank god.
“so basically i know this a very last minute thing but mr soo’s 5th period class as you know has too many students in it, and that’s the class your in, so i decided to make room and switch you out of his class and move you into ms wang’s 5th period, which is also english.”
mr soo was jake’s english teacher and he was okay.. he was just strict. “oh.. im fine with that.” ms chung smiled as she sighed. “ah.. i’m glad your fine with that! okay so here’s your new schedule even though it’s just one class that changed.” she took a piece of paper out of the printer and handed it to him.
“alright, thank you ms chung!” jake said smiling to her as he grabbed his backpack and headed for the door. “your welcome sweetie, anytime!” he heard her say as he closed the door behind him.
the bell had rung for everyone to go home, considering he got called to the counselors office during the last period of the day. he sighed before opening his backpack and putting the schedule in it.
he hoped this teacher was better than his last english teacher.

A Description of Sha Wujing's Weapon
Sha Wujing's weapon is often portrayed as a bladed Monk's Spade in modern media. However, he wields a magic wooden staff in Journey to the West (Xiyouji, 西遊記, 1592 CE). A poem describing the look, history, and powers of the weapon appears in chapter 22.
Anthony C. Yu's (Wu & Yu, 2012) original translation opens with:
For years my staff has enjoyed great fame,
At first an evergreen tree in the moon.
Wu Gang cut down from it one huge limb:
Lu Ban then made it, using all his skills.
Within the hub's one solid piece of gold:
Outside it's wrapped by countless pearly threads.
It's called the treasure staff for crushing fiends
[...] (vol. 1, p. 428)
寶杖原來名譽大，本是月裡梭羅派。
吳剛伐下一枝來，魯班製造工夫蓋。
裡邊一條金趁心，外邊萬道珠絲玠。
名稱寶杖善降妖 …
But I recently noticed that the translation needed some improvements. Below is my version.
For years my treasure staff has enjoyed great fame.
Originally a tree of the sala variety in the moon, [A]
Wu Gang cut down from it one limb. [B]
Lu Ban then made it, using all his skills.
Within the hub is "as-you-will" metal, [C]
Outside it’s wrapped by countless pearly threads.
It’s called the Treasure Staff Perfect for Subduing Monsters [D]
[…] (based on Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 1, p. 428)
Here are the reasons why I made such changes:
A) The Chinese identifies the tree as suoluo pai (梭羅派), which literally means a “(family) branch of the sala tree.” I chose “type of” to avoid confusion with “a variety of” And while the sala is technically a kind of evergreen in wet environments, it has deciduous-looking leaves. I chose to use the actual name of the tree to avoid confusion with pine evergreens. Yu (Wu & Yu, 2012) incorrectly identifies the suoluo tree as “Cunninghamia [l]anceolata,” a type of Chinese pine evergreen (vol. 4, p. 391 n. 7).
B) The Chinese mentions nothing about the size of the branch.
C) The Chinese states that the inside is jin chenxin (金趁心), or “satisfactory metal/gold.” This is likely referring to the Chinese idiom chenxin ruyi (趁心如意), or “as one desires.” This important as the novel reveals that Sha’s weapon is capable of growing or shrinking on command just like Monkey’s cudgel, the “As-You-Will Gold-Banded Staff” (Wu & Yu, 2012, vol. 1, p. 429). Thank you to Irwen Wong of the Journey to the West Library blog for reminding me of this fact.
D) Yu (Wu & Yu, 2012) skipped over shan (善), or “good at, apt, perfect,” in his translation (vol. 1, p. 428).

author’s notes: Well this is the end. I can’t believe this is the end. I hope everyone has loved this story who has read it as it came out and to anyone who reads it after I hope you all enjoy it too! I left it open in case I decided to come back to this world. Who knows what may happen in the future. I loved this story and I hold these characters near and dear to my heart. Thank you to @clint-aww-no-barton for all her help through this. Thanks to all of you for your support as well. It means the world to me.

Scarlett placed the last bowl of food on her dining room table, and took a breath, surveying her work. She smiled at the sight of a full table set for six people. She had been looking forward to this dinner for weeks now. She had finally healed fully and was able to step foot into, what she hoped, would be her and Aleksander’s home for awhile. She had cried at the sight of the home and how perfect it was, and they had settled in nicely.
The crew had returned with two ships full of treasure and everything was distributed equally, everyone getting a generous and equal share. Selling pieces of loot had provided them the rest of what they needed for their home, with so much more left over. Ivan and Fedyor had decided to settle on Ally’s Cove, while everyone else decided to go their own ways. It was a bittersweet goodbye to people she considered good friends.
Scarlett couldn’t be happier with the life she had fallen into. It had been an adventure, and a beautiful one at that, but she was grateful for the home she now stood in. She glanced across to the sitting room, Aleksander sitting there with a book in his lap and she smiled softly. A knock sounded from the front door and her smile widened.
“I got the door my darling,” Aleksander called but she was next to him in seconds.
The the door opened to Ally and Jack, all of them greeting each other. Ivan and Fedyor arrived before the door shut and everyone hugged and shook hands quickly. Scarlett lead them to the table and everyone took their seats. They all settled into easy conversations between bites of food and Scarlett looked around. She smiled and her heart squeezed at the sight of the people around her, her family.
“So Aleksander,” Jack spoke after, they fell into a comfortable silence.
Aleksander looked up at Jack with his eyebrows raised. Scarlett’s brows furrowed at the smirk on Jack’s face.
“You and your lady ready for another adventure? Because I have a job for all of us.”
Scarlett looked over at Aleksander. They caught each other’s eyes for a moment in silent conversation. Scarlett couldn’t help the slight excitement that built in her at the thought. She loved the settled life but she missed the adventure. She let her lips turn into a smile first and Aleksander’s face soon mirrored hers.
“What kind of job?” Aleksander asked as he took Scarlett’s hand. It seems their tale wasn’t quite over yet.

“Why can’t we play one game without it just going wrong... one game” Ranboo sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Tubbo rolled the dice, and moved the boat piece 12 spaces forward and grinned, “Your turn Tommy”
Tommy rolled and got a four, he took his piece and placed it on the boardwalk, it wasn’t till then that he realized he fucked up. Tubbo clutched onto his stomach as he toppled over with laughter. Ranboo smacked his hands onto the table as he wheezed “Pfft- ha! You thought you were fine for a moment”
Tommy’s brows furrowed in anger at the $1700 he had to pay Tubbo. “Hell no!”
“Tommy you gotta pay!”
“It’s the rules man,” Ranboo said through laughter
“Fuck the rules!” He grabbed the board and flipped it into the air. Tiny green and red houses, player pieces, and tiny paper money soared for a second, before crashing to the floor.
“Tommy!” they yelled in unison. Tommy huffed and rolled his eyes before flipping them the bird.
Ranboo sighed as he stood up to pick up the board “Welp, guess that's the end of that game.”
“Hey, since we’re done playin’ monopoly, can we watch South Park?” Tubbo asked
Tommy and Ranboo had different reactions, and one of them was verbal about it, Ranboo groaned internally, meanwhile Tommy…
“Hell no!”
Tubbo frowned, “Aw why not.”
“I don’t want to watch that.”
“Yeah, well I wanted to play Monopoly and you destroyed it.”
Needless to say, Tommy lost that argument

South Park ended up putting Ranboo and Tubbo to sleep meanwhile Tubbo was enjoying every bit of it. Like every single time he’s ever watched it I mean seriously how much South park can one person binge a day?
And if you thought Ranboo and Tommy slept well that night.

“Ranboo?”
“Yes, Tubbo?” he mumbled
“If you wait for the waiter, doesn’t that make you the waiter?” Ranboo took his pillow and covered his face. A tired and muffled ‘please shut up’ could be heard from under it.
“Tubbo shut the fuck up and sleep!” Tommy said from the mattress on the floor.
“But I have questions that need to be answered!”
“Can’t they be answered in the morning?”
“Nope!”
Tommy rolled over, shutting his eyes. Despite what Tubbo said, his quiet chatter soon became silent. As heads became heavy and eyes fluttered shut, even Tubbo drifted off to sleep.

Time for a McDanno fic rec. I’ve been reading sooo many fics lately and it would be selfish not to share. Remember to READ THE TAGS to avoid unpleasant surprises.

It doesn't take Danny long to pack a bag when he gets back to Steve's and toss it into the truck, even as he winces at the pull it causes in his chest. He considers leaving a note for Junes to let the others know what he's doing, but remembers what a shitty feeling it'd been getting that letter from Steve the first time he'd taken off all those years ago, so he makes himself head over to HQ, even if he dreads walking back in there knowing Steve won't be in his office.
So this fic single-handedly healed my broken heart after the series final. It starts with Danny’s POV. We get to see what happens to him after Steve leaves and how he views the communication between the two of them while they’re apart. Then it switches to Steve’s POV and we get to see all of it from his side. Ugh, so good. The best part is when they meet again, but you’re just gonna have to read the fic to find out more about that.

I still can’t believe that up till a couple of weeks ago there was a McDanno Sentinel/Guide fic (my favorites when it comes to this pairing) posted in 2018 that I hadn’t read. But, yeah, there was, and here it is. This is for all other Sentinel/Guide fans out there!

It’s an AU where Danny runs a Boone Pretzel franchise in Hawaii, has two lovely daughters, and a bit of a problem making ends meet. Steve is the current CEO of Boone Enterprises who finds out that their franchise in Hawaii has started to make some unauthorized pretzels. Amongst them Chin’s new favorite, the pineapple pretzel. Steve decides to go undercover and see what’s going on. He needs a vacation anyway.

One minute he’s sitting at a traffic light on a perfect day on his way to work, bemoaning his lack of coffee and the next he’s screeching the Camaro’s tires towards the accident, heart pounding, keeping perfect time with the chant in his head. No, no, no. It can’t be.
What on earth made me re-read this fic when it’s so heartbreaking? The first part is always hard to get through. But I guess that if you need a good cry, and then to go on a healing journey, this is the fic for you. I feel like I need to remind everyone to READ THE TAGS for this one though. This is also part 1 of 5 in the Sock Monkey Universe. The other parts are “Timestamps, Outtakes, and scenes from ‘Sock Monkey’“ and they add so much to the story. And believe me, after reading the first part you’re gonna want to read them all.
How to Conjugate a Relationship by Liketheriver

Steve and Danny flirt, seduce, share a bed, solve a case, and fall in love...but not necessarily in that order.
What to say about this fic... I think I will just give you a piece of the fic itself, because I like how it’s written.
Steve had been thinking about the whole sleeping in close proximity situation, too. Thinking how much he liked it, liked it probably way more than he should.
“And,” Danny continued. “It was…kind of…you know…nice. I mean, I slept better than I have in months. Years even.”
Steve wove between two cars and finally caught sight of the truck about a half mile ahead.
“Me too,” Steve admitted.
And, wow, he hadn’t planned on telling Danny that. Instead, he’d been trying to stealthfully find a way to make it accidently happen on purpose again. Unfortunately, there hadn’t been any more convenient rain showers to soak him right before bedtime. In the long run, this was a much better way to handle things.
“Good, good, I’m glad we’re in agreement on this.” Danny seemed to be relaxing a little bit.
Steve, however, was thinking something along the line of, ‘Thank God! Thank God! I’m not the only lonely loser who wants to sleep with my best friend; my best friend is a lonely loser who wants to sleep with me, too!”
This fic has some amazing highs and some scary lows, and through it all an awesome sense of humor. Liketheriver really captured the essence of each character so well. I’m really impressed.
