Sterek fic recs: Time Travel AU Edition
As I promised @oldefashioned here is the start of my unending sterek fic reccing. I’ll go by category because this post will never end otherwise.
1. song of the phoenix by graveltotempo
In a last ditch effort to save Beacon Hills after everyone else has died, Stiles channels all of his energy and magic into cleansing the Nemeton and the magical core of the town.
But he is more powerful than he knows, more connected to the Nemeton than anyone can guess, and a group of kids, teenagers and adults wakes up in the middle of the night ten years earlier with a second chance they didn't know they needed and a bond they don't understand.
Stiles though? Stiles wakes up with a little more.
Notes: It's just. So good. It's kinda hard to explain but basically no one knows what's going on but at the same time it works. Kinda. They're working on it. Stiles is awesome in this, I especially love his relationship with the Hales, because of course I do. It's ongoing.
2. Twice And For All by novasillies
“Derek,” he said despite himself. The werewolf’s eyes sharpened. Scott gave him a distressed look.
“Do I know you?” He asked tensely, and Stiles grinned in return.
“Oh, no,” he answered, “Not yet.”

In which a well-timed conflict between the magic of the Ghost Riders and Stiles' spark sends him back to the day Scott got bitten. Stiles pointedly changes nothing and so God complexes, needlessly complex romantic drama, and pure, unbridled silliness ensue.

Notes: This is to date one of my favorite time travel fics of all time, across multiple fandoms. Stiles in this one is just *chef's kiss*. Completely unhinged, I love him. Also, the sterek? Easily one of the best dynamics I've read. It's ongoing, only four chapters left!
3. Fly a Little Faster by mirrorkill
Everyone knows when you go back in time, you shouldn't step on an ant, just in case you accidentally kill your own grandparent or something. But what happens when you go back in time and, uh, accidentally interrupt the one event that apparently made the Grumpiest Alpha in Town into a ball of mindless manpain?
Well, if Marty McFly can do it, so can Stiles Stilinski. All he has to do is get Derek and Paige to fall in love before he gets pulled back to his own time. And before he makes anything worse. That's easy as pie, right? Right?
Notes: I liked this one because it's not the typical Stiles travels back in time after everyone else in the pack dies. It's got a different premise, still somewhat canon compliant (maybe??? canon enough), and it's amazingly done. It's complete.
4. Daybreak by TheObsidianQuill
"There . . ." Stiles swallowed and looked down at the bottle in his grasp as he slowly swirled the amber liquid inside. "There's really nothing left. For me. Everyone is . . . gone, and it feels like I haven't thought of tomorrow in years." His words rang in the air like a gunshot, he took another heavy drink. "I would trade every last breath I take to just have another shot—not even a guarantee, just a chance to make things right and bring back even one of them."

The pack was gone. He had nothing left. He had no one. With nothing to lose, Stiles puts everything on the line to go back in time to try to prevent the future from becoming his past. Broken, guarded, and haunted by his past, only one overgrown-pup of a wolf seems able to get past his defenses. Changing the future? Easy. Finding a place for himself in the Hale Pack? Impossible.
Notes: So good! Stiles is a traumatized bean and the Hales are just everything! It's complete.
5. The A Spark of Hope and the Butterfly Effect series by Phlinting
It's been eleven years since Scott was bitten by a feral werewolf and, despite his pack's many victories along the way, Gerard Argent's influence lives on. As the knowledge of the supernatural spread to the general population so did the hatred and fear of the unknown. The McCall pack has been picked off one by one and Stiles, Sheriff Stilinski, and Peter Hale are the only three left, on the run and barely surviving.
But Stiles has found a spell. He has the magic, the spark, and his belief. He has his dad and Peter to help power it and he has the will and desperation to succeed.
He's going back to the Hale fire and this time he's going to stop it ALL before it starts.
It's the perfect solution. Too bad things never go quite according to plan...
Notes: The Sheriff and Peter are *chef's kiss* here! I really don't know how to explain all that happens here but it gets a little out of control in the best way. It's complete.
6. The The Long Way Round series by exclamation
A magical accident sends Stiles back in time. Now he's stuck in New York, living with Derek and Laura, and the only way to get back to his own time is to learn to use magic. Meanwhile, he must figure out how much he can tell them about their future. Can he warn them about the dangers they face? Can he change his own past?
And can he trust the creature known as Bookworm, who seems to know him better than he knows himself?
Notes: This series had me in a chokehold, I cried so much but it was absolutely worth it! Stiles doesn't plan to travel back in time on this one, this just... happen, and it all spirals a bit out of control. But don't worry! You may have no idea of what's going to happen, but the author certainly did and they did an amazing work. It's complete.
7. It’s Happening by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella)
Derek stopped listening to him, brain going a mile a minute.
Derek, it’s fucking happening!
Derek, please!
He would recognize that fucking voice anywhere.
Two years. Two fucking years had passed, and now this little shit was standing in front of him, speaking his name, and grinning like an idiot.
“It’s you,” Derek said, earning him a confused look from Stiles.
“The phone call. Two years ago. It was you.”

Notes: This is not canon compliant. It's a whole other universe, actually, and it's so good. Good ol' Derek is losing his mind over here, but it's alright! Things work out just fine. It's complete.
These ones are not time travel, but dimensional travel. It’s similar enough so here you go.
8. The play it again series by metisket
In which Stiles goes along with one of Derek’s plans and ends up in an alternate universe as a result. He should’ve known better. He did know better, actually, and that means he has no one to blame but himself.
“Laura wants to lure the kid in with food and kindness and make a pet of him, like a feral cat. Derek wants to have him arrested for stalking. They’re at an impasse. (And the rest of the family is staying emphatically out of it in a way that suggests bets have been placed.)”
Notes: I honestly don't know how to show the whole of my appreciation for this series. I think I've read this about five times since I found it last year. Stiles lands himself in a whole other dimension, where the Hale House fire never happened and Scott is human. It goes about as well as you can expect. It's technically not complete, but the main piece is.
9. The Home Across The Universe series by TricksterShi
You can lose your home and spend your whole life looking for it, sometimes you may even find bits of it again. But sometimes home goes out searching and finds you first.

The day he loses his father and his pack, Stiles is transported to a parallel world where his counterpart is nine years old and seemingly small changes have had a huge impact on the course of events in Beacon Hills. At first sticking to the shadows as a vigilante to protect his otherworld father and younger self, Stiles is soon drawn out into the light and onto a path that forces him to confront the traumas of his past so that he can make a place for himself in this new world.
Notes: Just. This absolute beast of a universe is seriously so well done, and so good. Imagine play it again, but much more depressing and waaaay longer. The angst is on point! The Stilinskis are the best in this one. And Derek and Laura have my heart, love my pookies. Stiles is not having the best times, but he'll be looked after, don't worry! Also technically not complete, but all the pieces in the series are done.
10. The Ley Lines series by forestofbabel
Stiles is back in town after many years, angry and bitter and disconnected from anything you might call pack. It might as well be a tradition at this point that he gets drunk and wakes up in the woods. Only, this time, something is different.
The ghosts that have weighed in his heart are alive and well, and Stiles gets to witness a life that could have been his. There is one thing he knows, though. No matter how much he may want to stay, he has to go home.
If the ley lines you should follow,

and find your presence has been hollowed,
your hereafter is to amend."

Derek had an itch under his skin. There was something missing. He knew exactly what it was. Who it was. His regrets paraded themselves in a steady stream, and he had to watch as Stiles left time and time again, knowing it would be the only way to let the ley lines heal. That didn't make it hurt any less. Still, some part of Derek hoped.
Notes: I honestly just read the first part, but I thought I'd add the whole series so people know what they're getting into. The first part can be read as a stand alone, so if anyone wants to stop after that they absolutely can. The fic itself is a bit sad, but it has a happy ending! Stiles travels to another dimension, and shenanigans follow. The series is complete.

my love! i am so sorry this took so long, but i wanted this to be perfect, and i waited until the right spark of imagination hit me. i really hope you enjoy this, because it took me for a SPIN1!!!!!!! and anyway i love this so much oh my god!! and there are songs to go with this ;) (also this is my first time writing any sort of fight scenes, so i hope they make sense! )

summary: matt murdock doesn't know his girlfriend is a vigilante, being blackmailed to take the devil down. he has to fight her, every night, until her guise slips, and he finds out it's her.
warnings: a lot of angst (!!!), heavy violence, blood, allusion to the russian mob (although this story does not follow any timeline)

Matthew Murdock was tired.
Utterly, completely and wholly fatigued; he was worn to the bone, sick of having his ass handed to him, every single night.
All he knew was that she had it out for him.
Like a ghost, she appeared out of nowhere, leaving no trace of her identity, or where she came from. She was undetectable… a whisper, a forgotten secret, simply vanishing into thin air.
And he wasn’t sure if she’d keep him alive long enough to find out.

Slinking across the rooftops of Hell’s Kitchen, Matt flinched as the autumn wind scratched at his face, nipping at the uncovered skin of his jaw. Nostrils flared, he sniffed at the air – ignoring the city’s odours of lost hope and garbage – hoping for anything… anything that’d point him towards her. The flames of his sight roiled like molten lava, his world on fire burning brighter than ever tonight.
Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he leaped from one rooftop to another, breaking his fall with a roll, grunting at the hard concrete beneath his shoulders. A woman’s giggle broke his concentration as he crouched, pressing his back up against an air-conditioning unit, warm from use. He waited, patiently, for the lovedrunk couple to get lost in each other, wet kissing sounds feathering a muscle in his jaw, as he stalked to the side of the building, hands closing around the rung of a rusted ladder.
Matt’s stomach tightened as he thought of the couple on the roof, his mind turning to you. He’d kissed you goodnight before he left, before donning the red suit of his alter ego, before seeking to find the ghost that haunted him.
You were his biggest supporter, his best advocate, his healer; selflessly tending to his injuries night-after-night, and even more so as he fought his unending battle with someone barely more than a phantom. Guilt bubbled through his blood at the thought of leaving you at home, peaceful and unassuming, all while knowing this night might well and truly be his last.
Matt didn’t know where he was going, but as he swallowed his apprehension, he figured the looming spires of Clinton Church in the background was direction enough.

Matt made it ten feet before his head snapped back, narrowly avoiding the dagger whistling through the air. Gritting his teeth, he squared his shoulders, chin down and head tilted to the side, listening for any sign of movement.
He chuckled hoarsely, feeling the displacement of air to his right. “Gotcha.”
Stance off-kilter by the smallest centimetre, the next dagger scratched his cheek, pinning him to the brick wall by the fabric of his neck. Grunting, Matt lifted a hand to yank the blade out, twirling it in his fingers before sending it clattering to the other side of the rooftop, elbow flying up to cover his head as her gloved fist hooked around.
“Why.” he demanded, voice dropping an octave, aiming his kick for her knee.
She buckled, but not before swinging her other leg around, foot connecting with his side. Silence.
Unyielding, Matt brushed it off, dodging a punch. He waited for her next advance, until her fist sailed past his chin before catching her bicep and wrist, throwing her to the ground.
With every ounce of bodyweight locking her in place, he barked. “Tell me who you are, and what you want.”
Matt scowled as she merely blinked, showing no emotion even as he dug his knee harder into her hip. This was the closest he’d managed to get to her, so he willed himself to focus, to hone in on any detail, any giveaway that’d answer his questions.
Her heartbeat was steady and unfaltering, even as he surveyed her, tongue flicking out to taste the air. Except for the gap in fabric that revealed her eyes, she was covered from head-to-toe, the material of her skintight suit thin enough to reveal her perspiration. Matt gulped, feeling her stare lock onto his form, burning through his helmet, searing his skin. He furrowed his eyebrows, lips contorting into a frown. Something about her felt so… familiar, and it wasn’t just the fact that he was meeting his match every night. It was something he couldn’t place, from the way she carried herself, to the way he felt her lips move into a half-smirk.
Matt’s eyes went wide as she saw through his lapse of concentration, at the way his grip slackened. So fast he could barely register, she flipped on her side, kicking Matt off, dusting her suit as she stood in her fighting stance, ready for more.
Cursing under his breath, he rolled towards her, kicking out as he aimed at her hip, but she deflected, grabbing him by the collar and punching him square on the mouth. He spat on the ground, the red a stark contrast against the light concrete. Frustrated, he swung his hands out, hearing the crunch of bone under his knuckles as he broke her nose, hearing her teeth chatter as he landed each blow.
She didn’t care that blood streamed down her face, wetting her mask, the front of her chest. She had a mission; a mission she had to finish.
“I don’t wanna hurt you,” Matt rasped, his kick knocking her on her ass. “Stop making me hurt you.”
Chest heaving and unable to hold back her panting, she lifted a gloved hand to her eyes, wiping away the sweat that beaded on her lashes. She was wounded, worn out, but still, she didn’t stop. Rising again, her knees wobbly, she put her fists up in front of her face, shaking her head as she beckoned him closer.
Yelling, Matt ran towards her, hook punch skirting her jaw enough that she lost her balance, but she recovered quicker than he expected, trapping his arm in her hands. Slipping him past her, she grabbed onto his shoulder as she drove her knee up into his stomach, skin crawling at the groan that escaped his lips.
“Good!” called a voice from behind, heavily accented. “Finish him, and you will be rewarded.”
It’s too early, she thought, her sharp exhale turning into an audible ‘fuck!’ as she loosened her hold, heart thundering in her chest, whipping her head towards the voice.
It was as if time had frozen for Matt, as he lifted his head towards her, raising a hand to wipe at his bloody mouth. It couldn’t be.
She turned her head back towards him, lunging, but with almost no effort at all, possessed entirely by disbelief, Matt stepped to the side.
He reached out, pulling the flimsy fabric of her mask off her head.
There it was.
What she – No.
What you tried so desperately to hide.
Stuck in place, an unfamiliar sensation bloomed in Matt’s chest, filling his body like a helium balloon, except it was dense; an iron brick dragging him underwater.
The Man Without Fear was scared.
No… he thought. No… it can’t be.
He staggered backwards as your fist collided with his jaw, impact reverberating through his body, splintering deep into his bones. Even though his Devil helmet covered his face, shielding the expression in his eyes, you felt it emanating from him. Heartbreak.
Matt fell to the ground, heaving, reeling over as he looked up at you towering over him, stomach sinking to hell as you curled your fists in front of your face.
You would never forget this moment; his crumpled form under the light of the moon, the way he whispered your name;
A silent prayer, a plea…
And it shattered your heart into a million pieces.

“I’m sorry, Matty,” you whispered, eyes glistening as he slumped before you. “I’m so sorry.”
His voice broke, the sound like a knife twisting in your gut. “How could you?”
“Hand him over to us,” announced the voice from before, closer now.
Your breath quickened, catching in your throat as you felt the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. “I promise I’ll explain everything to you. Everything. But please, I need you to do something for me. Just one thing.”
Matt scoffed, turning his head away.
It wasn’t supposed to go this way. Biting back your tears, there was an urgency as you turned around to face the voice, whispering under your breath knowing Matt could hear every word. “Yield. You fought a sniffle as you stood strong, eyes blazing ahead. “Is my family safe?”
Agitation settled over you as a tall man walked over, his blonde hair ghostly white in the moonlight. He approached you with a menacing gaze, the long red scar on the side of his face a warning.
“Is. My. Family. Safe.”
The man curled his lips into a smile. “As promised, if you give us the Devil, they will be safe.”
“He’s right there,” you gritted, “now show me where they are.”
The man’s bodyguards hauled Matt up to his feet, gripping his wrists in an iron vice as you were shown a security feed; a video of your parents, home with your little brother. Your heart stuttered, relief stinging your eyes.
Staring into the man’s hooded blue gaze, you blinked, fingers closing around the cool metal hilt of the dagger sheathed by your thigh.
“Let me say one last thing to him before you take him away,” you pleaded, laying it on as thick as you could.
The man nodded, and you turned to Matt, head tipped forward as he bared his teeth.
“Now.”
Your stare was unmoving as you pounced, slicing your dagger against the man’s throat. He gurgled, betrayal crossing his face, hands clutching at torn skin. Lifting your leg up, you looked into the man’s lifeless eyes as you kicked the middle of his chest, sending him to the ground.
Behind you, Matt grunted as he took the bodyguards out, back pressed to the rooftop as he panted, rolling over to drive his fist into the guard closest to him. Clutching your side, you stumbled over to Matt, reaching a hand towards him.
Fingers closing around your forearm, the both of you staggered as you hoisted him up, holding onto each other for stability.
You turned towards him, one hand on his waist to steady his balance. Raising a hand to his face, you pried his helmet off, setting it down on the rooftop, running your fingers through his messy hair. You chewed your lip at the sight of him: prominent circles under his eyes, bloodied mouth, cuts and raised welts on his cheekbones.
“I’m so sorry, Matt,” you started, feeling your vision go blurry, “I had no choice. They were going to kill my family.”
He pressed his lips together, eyes unfocused but set on your face.
You continued. “T-they wanted me to kill you. I’ve got no excuse for what I did, but… I convinced them to let me capture you instead. They knew we were together, impossible things about my past. They told me you were getting too close to them, to taking them down, and they blackmailed me.”
Tears spilled down your cheeks. “I do not expect you to trust me, or to help me, but” – your voice cracked – “they had my family. I couldn’t risk that.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t honest with you. I lied so they wouldn’t suspect we were working together… they had eyes on me all the time. T-things didn’t go as planned but… they– they worked out anyway.” You cleared your throat. “I hated every second of it, Matty.”
Matt’s voice rang out amongst the rooftops, even though the word was barely a whisper. “How?”
“What?”
“How did you get away with this? How could I not sense this?”
You toyed with your fingers, skirting over the bruised knuckles underneath your gloves. “Training.”
Matt’s eyebrows were a hard line. “Training?”
“It’s… complicated, but I changed my scent, my clothing… coloured contacts on my eyes. Anything to obscure who I am. Who I was.”
He tilted his chin down, sucking his cheeks in.
“I knocked you around as hard as I could so you barely had a moment to listen to me, to my body. So you could focus on healing yourself and not pay attention to where I was hurt.”
“I hid my suit around the city, praying you wouldn’t sniff it out.”
Matt sniffed. “You took care of me, patched me up. Even though it was you who hurt me.”
“I’m sorry, Matt. Listen to my heartbeat. I’m sorry.”
His expression was forlorn as he tilted his ear towards you, listening, concentrating.
“I understand if you want nothing more to do with–”
“I’m sorry about your family,” he murmured. “They were in danger because of me.”
Rage took a hold of you, bursting through the cracks in your tattered psyche. “No, Matt. No. You are not to be blamed. It was me who hurt you.”
“You didn’t have a choice.”
Matt’s gloved hands were heavy in yours. “It’s not your fault,” you mumbled.
“Then we’ll make sure they’re safe. Watch over them, together.”
You stared at him in disbelief. “Matt, that means leaving Hell’s Kitchen. I can’t ask you to do that.”
“Just because you cut the head off the snake, doesn’t mean two more won’t grow back. They won’t be safe until we take down the whole organisation. And you didn’t ask. I offered.”
You bit your lip, ears ringing. “Okay.”
Matt’s lips twitched into a weak smile, hands gripping yours tighter. “Okay.”
“On one condition,” he wrapped his arm around your waist, walking to the roof stairs, “you’re going to tell me everything, and no more killing.”
Under the light of the moon, as his words tugged at your heartstrings, you looked upwards, the prayer falling from your lips a solemn promise you’d never lie to him again.
You nodded, bracing his cheek. “Okay.”

Speak Now Taylor's Version thoughts
Y'all knew this was coming, T Swift's music is like my #1 special interest. Because I just can't help myself, I've written a mini-review of each track. Spoiler alert: I think this might be my favourite re-record so far (although maybe that's just because Speak Now has a really special place in my heart).
Let's dive in...
THE OG ALBUM
Mine: Omg. THE NOSTALGIA. This one sounds fantastic - very similar vocals (with a slight country twang attempted!!!) with much richer instrumentals. You can really hear the details in the guitar elements!
Sparks Fly: The production is a little different - softer guitars, more pronounced strings - but I kinda dig it? I always thought the original production was a little bit too “loud”/harsh so this is an improvement for me. Her voice is also a little softer/less… squeaky? Which I like.
Back to December: Also very very similar production and vocally. Vocals are a little more breathy in places? And certain subtle parts of the production are now more pronounced which is cool - bells ringing, elements of the strings.
Speak Now: This is probably the song where the vocal tone is the most similar to the original (so far) - she’s captured that more cutesy, “young” vibe. The production is also so, SO similar - practically identical, which is impressive!
Dear John: My favourite remains my favourite. It seems more sad than angry now, which is somehow even more devastating :(
Mean: Still delightful. Still the song that got me through my teenage years. Somehow hits different now Taylor IS big enough that nobody can hit her!!
The Story of Us: Oooooh the production feels more rock-y this time around which I love! This should have been the pop punk masterpiece of Taylor’s career tbh. Also just remembering how iconic the music video was???
Never Grow Up: I still can’t listen to this song without crying. So there’s that. Beautiful though. And hearing 30s Taylor singing “I don’t wanna grow up”… ooooft.
Enchanted: Literally got full body goosebumps when this one kicked in holy SHIT. Somehow the production sounds EVEN more dreamy. This is one song where I would’ve preferred Taylor’s harsher, more desperate old vocals though - the softer ones here are nice, but don’t quite capture the same “AAAAAAAA I am desperately crushing” vibe.
Better Than Revenge: Unpopular opinion but I actually like the lyric change. Less slut-shamey and it fits well! Also, the rerecorded ad-lib bits? ICONIC. The production feels even more heavy rock this time too. Ugh I love this so much, the feminism is still leaving my body a little but a little less now at least
Innocent: God this hits SO DIFFERENT now that Taylor is older than Kanye was when The Incident happened. It almost feels like she could be singing about herself now??? Or like it’s just a general song about redemption… I somehow prefer this to the original. The new drums are so deep and bassy too!!
Haunted: This is another one where the production feels even more heavily rock-influenced and I am HERE. FOR. IT. And the vocals sound just as emotional in this one compared to, say, Dear John where they’re more muted in places.
Last Kiss: The production sounds different somehow but I can’t quite put my finger on how?? I think it’s the guitars. Anyway, it’s equally as dreamy and sad so I’m fine with it. Also I bet this one is difficult for Taylor post-Joe-breakup :(
Long Live: Oh god I shed a tear. She sounds phenomenal, the production is phenomenal, and now, her old band probably DO have children and they DID say goodbye (at least some of them) and UGHGHGHHGH emotions.
Ours: I like this one, and the production is still cute; I just think that with this song being SO cutesy, it worked better with Taylor’s younger voice. I mean, I’ll still listen to it, and it’s fine, but… Yeah. Sounds weird with a more “mature” tone.
Superman: I never liked this song tbh, it’s just a bit “meh”… But I can at least appreciate that this is an excellent rerecord. Great production, the vocals are really strong, she’s captured that more youthful/dreamy tone in this one. I mean, I’ll probably never listen to it again, but I never listened to OG Superman so…
THE VAULT
Electric Touch: First, Taylor Swift + Fall Out Boy on one song is my teenage dream come true. Second, it feels like a more anxious sister to Sparks Fly - more vulnerable and worried about that first meeting and whether those sparks will translate into something real. I love how Patrick and Taylor’s voices sound together! Pop punk perfection.
When Emma Falls In Love: The most important thing: WHO IS EMMA???? Anyway. Beautiful piano. It’s got that mid-to-late-2000s pop feel, influenced by country a little.
I Can See You: Um. Horny jail for Ms. Swift??? Very forbidden romance vibes. The sound is something totally different from any other Taylor Swift song (which at this point is impressive) - very 1970s mixed with 2000s indie. Unexpected but addictive.
Castles Crumbling: Oh, this is so sad, because it’s essentially 2010 Taylor predicting what would happen in 2016… It genuinely feels like her biggest fears all came true… Musically I love it, very ethereal and dramatic. Hayley and Taylor sound amazing together.
Foolish One: First of all, I wish this had been on OG Speak Now because past me really needed to hear the lessons of this one 💀 ANYWAY. A nice gentle pop song, I’m a fan.
Timeless: What a perfect way to end the album: with another wistful tune about the kind of true love that Taylor was looking for at this point in her life. It’s a more reflective and mature version of Mine in many ways. And that country-influenced storytelling… The guitars… It’s just *chef’s kiss* all over. I hope Taylor finds this love one day.

That first "uh uh uh" 🥺 this song sounds so good; like the 2010 one but so much better.
Sparke Fly
I love that she used a video from tour for the lyric video. 2011 Taylor with her 2023 vocals, quite literally. One of my favourite thing about the rerecordings is how the instrumentals sound a lot clearer. The way she sings "I know it's no good" oh god.
Back To December
I really love the lyric videos. "Then I think about summer all times I watched you laughing from the passanger side" so exceptionally good ugh HER VOCALS.
Speak Now
Underrated bop tbh. The "don't you"!!!
Dear John
Wanted to kms from that first guitar strings. I love that the lyric video is a letter. Idk if I'm imagining but her voice sounds more...haunted (no pun intended) in this version. Of course the high note sounds even better.
Mean
Country bop!!! Another wonderful thing about the rerecording is how better Taylor's gotten at enunciating. She made it to the big old city 🥺.

A lyrical masterpiece with improved vocals!! This song literally defined my teen years and now I got to listen to it for the first time again. She truly sings "I'm wonderstruck dancing around all along" like a lovestruck teenager. I'm obsessed with the post-bridge breakdown. It sounds like it's literally her thoughts echoing. Using photos from the Speak Now Tour and then changing it up to Eras Tour pictures was soooo mean.
Better Than Revenge
32 years old Taylor telling me to go stand in the corner YESSSSSSS. I love her voice on the opening message. AKFKWKKF HER VOICE IN THE BACKGROUND VOCALS. I don't care about the lyric change! Y'all should move on because there's nothing to do about it. Idk why focus on that one lyric when the best one in the song is the entire second verse like, a lyric genius.
Innocent
Oh god her voice. Can we now admit it's one of her best songs? I hope she rerecorded the song knowing it's okay to still be growing up. That goddamn high note.
Haunted
The fact she sounds actually haunted in this version. VOCALS!!! That squeak on the last "I thought I had you figured out" ...lives were changed.
Last Kiss
Can't believe she somehow made this song even sadder and we just let her. You know when Taylor puts a watch in her lyric video it's gonna be the best song you've ever heard. The "mmmm" before the bridge. SO I'LL WATCH YOUR LIFE IN PICTURES LIKE I USED TO WATCH YOU SLEEP
Long Live
I love that she uses videos from the Speak Now Tour!! Another song that always makes me cry with updated vocals. Her arm lyric reads "She's out there on her own and she's alright." I'M GOING TO SOB
Ours
This used to be my favourite song when I was a kid 🥲. Listening to it again healed something in me tbh. 13 years later and they really couldn't take what's ours.
Superman
This song's my little baby y'all stay away from it. Something in his deep brown eyes has me saying HE'S NOT ALL BAD LIKE HIS REPUTATION. The bridge was always so good and so underrated.

I was so hyped for this one. The most important collab she's ever made. I LOVE the production. First date song!! This is like Fearless' older sister. I missed her crush songs kdkfke. Obsessed with her telling the time.

Oh a piano song?? This is such a classic Baby Taylor song. "I've got my money on things going badly" -> "when Emma falls in love she calls her mom, jokes about the ways this one could go wrong" "and all the bad boys would be good boys if they only had a chance to love her" -> "I can make the bad guys for the weekend"
I Can See You
I did not expect this. "I can see you up against the wall with me" excuse me??? This song's a reminder Taylor has always been That Girl.
Castles Crumbling (feat. Hayley Williams)
The lyric video's giving "I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bone" literally Nothing New's little sister oh my god what the fuck. This song is a lot quieter and sadder than I expected. Hayley's vocals ekdkekfke GOD. I love it when Taylor uses kingdom metaphors in her songs.
Foolish One
Her voice!!! "You are not the exception" -> "you are the only exception" she will not be the one he loves :// IT'S DELICATE. And "my cards are on the table, yours are in your hand" because she was being honest about her intentions while he was unclear and confusing.
Timeless
Taylor really loves writing songs about her grandparents. What a way to end this album. "Even in a different life you would've been mine"
