Pretend, for example, that you were born in Chicago and have never had the remotest desire to visit Hong Kong, which is only a name on a map for you; pretend that some convulsion, sometimes called accident, throws you into connection with a man or a woman who lives in Hong Kong; and that you fall in love. Hong Kong will immediately cease to be a name and become the center of your life. And you may never know how many people live in Hong Kong. But you will know that one man or one woman lives there without whom you cannot live. And this is how our lives are changed, and this is how we are redeemed.
What a journey this life is! Dependent, entirely, on things unseen. If your lover lives in Hong Kong and cannot get to Chicago, it will be necessary for you to go to Hong Kong. Perhaps you will spend your life there, and never see Chicago again. And you will, I assure you, as long as space and time divide you from anyone you love, discover a great deal about shipping routes, airlines, earth quake, famine, disease, and war. And you will always know what time it is in Hong Kong, for you love someone who lives there. And love will simply have no choice but to go into battle with space and time and, furthermore, to win.
—James Baldwin, The Price of the Ticket

Thinking about joining a gym so that I can relate to Down Bad by Taylor Swift.

you know what pissed me off? when I posted about being excited for the new album on pinterest and all I had to show for it was hundreds of comments saying "f joe" or "he better go hide".
that was absolutely not my point in posting. man wtf. and that was even before any lyrics were teased to begin with
It was so frustrating to see everyone make this album about Joe leading up to the release. I could never talk about it because Joe was all anyone wanted to speak about.
And all the fan made cheating rumours found their way into the discussion too. It really took the joy out of the album release for me because people were so driven by hating Joe for reasons that they made up.
And now that we know he didn’t cheat, those people are silent. I fear her fans will not learn from this mistake. This seems to be an endless cycle.

Not gonna lie I got massive Schadenfreude about the fans who are overly parasocial with Taylor and don't see Taylor as a human person going through something (more a character they once upon a time were attached to) were wrong on so many accounts and assumptions, like how could you be so wrong? If I were following any of those people, the usual suspects, I'd be feeling pretty lied to.
I had no idea what this word meant so here is a definition in case anyone else wanted to know:
schadenfreude, the emotional experience of pleasure in response to another's misfortune. Schadenfreude is a German word that combines Schaden, which means “damage,” and Freude, which means “joy.” The concept is common to people across cultures, but some languages do have comparable words.
There are so many of these fans who view her as “the god that [they’re] worshiping” and I feel like Taylor really spelled out the strangeness of celebrity worship culture on Clara Bow.
I don’t know how people achieve these extreme levels of parasocial delusion but I’m so grateful that I’m not under that spell.

I understand that people have mixed feelings about the new TTPD set on the Era’s Tour but can we please step back for a moment and relish in the possibility of new tour costumes?

Do you think she will actually change the set list for the Eras tour?
I am seeing her in June and don’t know how to feel about that. I am ok with her adding to the set list but not removing any of the other eras.
I think the evidence (from her recent YouTube short) points to a new TTPD set.
If this new addition comes at the cost of removing existing songs off of the setlist, that would be a great tragedy.
I guess we’ll know in less than a fortnight.

Just a quick FYI
I am in ireland and all the variants are being sold at record store in my town.
Just thought to share
Is this a rare occurrence? I thought the variants were accessible across a lot of record stores?

The artists name is written in the tags. Their name is Henry James Garrett. I found this on Twitter.
I’m sure that as long as you’re giving credit to the artist, it will be ok.

(on a lighter topic) So upset for baby doll Aaron Dessner's side of TWO ALBUMS not geting a proper release on a CD for everyone as a quick way to get cash. Like if Taylor wanted to be greedy and get me to spend real cash-money to get all the songs I love on a disk I'd totally do it. Justice for Aaron! Give him his credit!
Justice for the Baby Girl Aaron Dessner! This is the second time she leaves him in the basement. She needs to let him bejewelled.
(I loved the Aaron Dessner 3am tracks better on Midnights too.)

I didn't jump on the Joe Hate Train or believed she hated him too much and barely paid mind to the bizare insuations people made based on her looking upset doing a tour after having a serious relationship break up and even I am shocked how many assumptions people made were wrong or were a barely featured after thought. If I'm hearing it right which I might not be and might be posting my own preferences over the project but still.
An emphatic yes to: "I am shocked how many assumptions people made were wrong or were a barely featured after thought."
The level of false accusations that were perpetuated prior to the album release were symptomatic of the moral failings of this fandom: the blind fanaticism, the lack of critical thinking, and the harassment.
I am glad that I had nothing to do with it. I applaud the fans who speak up for what is right.
