Is it okay if i suggest for you to write something with Mathew and Verano being bros/besties?
Sure!
@redhoodzuko
BEST BUDDIES
Verano made his way out of Hexside, soon finding Mathew within the crowd. Ever since the two had first met a few weeks ago, they had grown incredibly close. Verano told Mathew about his family, about his parents and the bullying from his brother, while Mathew told Verano about his parents' deaths by Odalia's hand. With that, the two quickly became like siblings to each other.
"Yo, V! What's up?", said Mathew, pushing through the crowd towards Verano. "Hey, M," Verano responded, "Not much, just...waiting for my parents now, I guess." Mathew nodded, and looked forward, a grim look now on his face.
With that, his mind began spinning.
Why should he just let Verano, the one he trusted with his past, just go off to be with a "family" that treats him like garbage? What kind of best friend would that make him? How could he call himself his best friend and do that?
No. He wouldn't do it.
"Hey, V? If you want...you can come back to my place." Verano immediately turned to Mathew, shock and worry in his eyes. "But if mom and dad find out-" "Ah, let 'em. They'll have to get through me if they wanna try anything," said Verano's best friend. With those words, and thought of his mistreatment just enough to push him over the edge, Verano took Mathew's hand, and Mathew used his necklace to teleport the two to the middle of the woods.
"Uh...we're in the woods, dude," said Verano, confusion eminent in his voice. Mathew nodded, and walked up to a tree. "You watching?" Verano nodded. And with that, Mathew pressed his hand against it, and the further patch of woods vanished, revealing a path leading to a house. "Wow! That is wickedly cool," said Verano. Mathew smiled and blushed in embarrassment, before the two headed inside.
"OK, this is the living room. The left door leads to the farm, the right leads to the kitchen, and the entire upstairs is my room." Verano looked around in amazement, before Mathew added, "Uh, make yourself at home. I'll have carrot and potato stew up in 5." Verano nodded, and sat down on the couch, before putting on the TV. "You have a working TV? Out here?", asked Verano, to which Mathew replied, "Uh, yeah! Dunno how it works, but hey, I ain't complaining."
After a couple of minutes, the two watched one of the movies Mathew had lying around while eating their carrot and potato stew. Verano commented on it with, "Mmm...this is really good!", to which Mathew replied, "Thanks, bud. I farm carrots, potatos, wheat, beetroot, and other vegetables, so I have stews like this all the time." Verano hummed in response.
"...Hey, V. I just wanna say something...I notice how you feel about whatever your family says to you. But take it from me: Love does not make you weak. Your parents had to have some sort of love to have you, right? So if anything, they're hypocrites. And...I love you. You're my best friend. And as your best friend, it's my duty to be there for you, even when no one else is."
Verano, after a few seconds of silence, put his stew down and hugged Mathew.
"Thanks...You've always been there for me. To play around with me, to comfort me. And...well, you're kind of like a second brother to me."
Mathew, in response, just smiled and hugged him back.
"No problem...brother."
THE END.

Aladarius Theory
So I planned to make a post on this last week but life - such as quitting one of my jobs 😂 - got in the way.
Anyway, I mentioned this in my thoughts regarding the episode “Them’s the Breaks, Kid” but I feel like this deserves it own post. So my theory is that I strongly suspect before Alador got together with Odalia, that he was in a relationship with Darius. This train of thought originally got going when I saw this clip of them.
Tumblr media
Like you have Alador and Darius sat together, laughing and having fun. And while Odalia sort of joins in, with how she is stood there not looking like part of the group but being sorta on the outside looking in. It kinda feels like she is inserting herself where she is not wanted.
Odalia and Alador’s marriage doesn’t particularly strike me as a happy one either. Throughout “Escaping Expulsion”, Alador seems to defer to Odalia to a ridiculous extent and only stands up to her when the Blight name is being put at threat by her attempting to go back on her word.
Which brings me to another point, as to why Alador would leave Darius for Odalia in the first place. In “Understanding Willow” it is Alador who initially is portrayed as the more villainous of the two Blight parents. He is the one who lays down the law on what is expected of a Blight to Amity and that they “only associate with the strongest of witchlings”. They lined up friends for Amity they felt were more appropriate, Boscha and Skara and pushed her towards them despite her objections. Maybe Alador’s parents had a similar discussion with him. Maybe it took time for Darius to come into his powers and so Alador’s parents decided he wasn’t a suitable partner for their son to be with and pushed him towards Odalia instead. Someone they feel is worthy of carrying the Blight name.
In “Reaching Out”, when Alador finally notices him and Odalia are forcing things on Amity she doesn’t actually want, he actually does seem to finally take pause and seem to realise what he is doing to his child. This has me wondering if this takes him back to his own childhood and the things his parents may have forced on him which he doesn’t want. I also just gave this scene a rewatch and he mentions how he likes Amity’s new hair colour because it is abomination coloured. So far Amity has been forced by Odalia to dye her hair green, so it matches the hair of Odalia, Edric and Emira. Amity dying her hair abomination coloured would make it more reminiscent of that of Darius. Maybe he is imagining in that moment what his kid could have been like if he had stayed with Darius.
Finally, Darius and Alador have a rivalry. In “Eda’s Requiem”, Darius tells Kikimora to tell “Alador that he’s a hack”. If Alador had broken up with Darius due to his parents, it may explain his coldness towards Alador. Meanwhile Alador may feel resentful of Darius, that after leaving him, he has since grown into his powers and then possibly became Head of the Abomination Coven over him.
And hey, maybe it holds no water but this is my theory and I am standing by it 😊

The Blight Chronicles: Odalia and Alador
The Rival
By the time the pair had arrived at school Odalia was firmly grasping onto Alador’s hand who would wonder off at the sight of anything. She almost lost him completely after he took off running after a bug. She was starting to question how Alador ever made it to school on his own.
Although she shouldn't be surprised. They were in the same class and he was almost always late. It was so frequent that the teacher had given up on reprimanding him for it. Everyone was so used to it that hardly anyone noticed when he came in.
"We'll if it isn't two of the brightest minds Hexide has to offer." beamed Principal Bump. "Oh and you're holding hands I didn't know you two were so close." he said, raising an eyebrow at the unlikely pair.
Odalia's face flushed instantly "Oh no it's not like that" she was interrupted by Alador who simply stated "We're partners." Odalia's face turned a deep shade of crimson at her companion's nonchalant statement.
"Ah I see a partnership hmm well I can't wait to see what will be the product of this partnership." He said with a wink. "Seeing as you're here on time for the first time I can already see the benefits. Well I won't keep you any longer, go on then head to class." He said as he waved them past him.
The realization that she had walked to school holding hands with a boy had not hit Odalia until that moment. To anyone else looking at them, they would assume they were dating when in reality she just wanted to keep him close to her. She immediately let go of his hand feeling extremely self conscious.
Alador only looked at their hands and then at her but he didn't question it. There were many things Odalia did that didn't make sense to him but he preferred not to question it. He had already come to terms with the fact that he would never truly understand people.
"Should we head over to your locker to get your things?" Muttered Odalia in an attempt to break the awkward silence.
"I don't need anything," said Alador in his usual monotone voice.
"What do you mean?" question Odalia forgetting her inner struggles.
"I memorized all the material in the first week of school." Note Alador as if it was no big deal.
Odalia stared at her companion completely flabbergasted. "You learned all the material for the semester in one week? You really are incredible, you know that?nYou never cease to amaze me." Beamed Odalia.
Alador gave her a half smile but didn't say anything. His stomach suddenly felt uneasy and now he was wondering if it was something he ate. Maybe he had eaten some of the abomination goo in his sleep. It wouldn't be the first time.
"I need to stop by my locker to get my books. I have a lot of work to do to try and catch up to that wonderful mind of yours.” stated Odalia with a sly smile.
“How utterly distasteful to have my eyes assaulted by such blight so early in the morning." Scoffed a voice behind them. “And did you say wonderful mind? HA! More like half baked!”
The pair turned around to see a tall dark skinned youth with green eyes who radiated style even while just wearing the school  uniform. The boy was smiling at them with a look of contempt in his eyes.
“You poor girl if you think Alador is a genius that means you need more than books to help you. If you want to see a true genius you only need to look at me.” he boasted as he made a grand gesture to himself and struck a pose.
“Alador, did you hear that? It sounded like a mediocre witch was trying to compare themselves to you.” sneered Odalia to Alador who did not seem to be at all bothered by the youth’s words. Nor was he interested in joining the conversation.
“Mediocre?! Do you know who I am? I am Dorian, the number one abominations student Hexside has ever seen! I’ll have you know I am twice the witch he'll ever be! He’s nothing more than a hack and a blight to the abominations track.” fumed Dorian.
“Oh please you are nowhere near Alador’s level. And why do you keep calling him a blight?” retorted Odalia.
“How dare you compare me with him! He is nothing but a hack. His experiments are a stain on the abominations track. Creating abominations is an art. There is beauty in what we create. We put a part of ourselves into our magic. What he does is an insult to that art! He should not even be allowed to work this kind of magic.” hissed the youth.
“So what you're saying is that his ingenuity and innovations are like a blight to the track? Well then I guess we should take it as a compliment. If being different and carving your own path makes you a blight then I would definitely want to be one too.” boasted Odalia while glaring at Dorian.
Alador did not like the look in Odalia’s eyes and he had seen first hand how scary she could be when she got angry. She would be even more angry if they did not make it to class on time so he grabbed her hand and started pulling her away. He did not  care for pointless conflict; it was only a waste of time.
Odalia did not resist if anything she was more surprised that Alador was being assertive. “Hey Alador,” started Odalia before being interrupted by Alador who simply stated “We are going to be late.”
Behind them they heard Dorian shout out to them “Well that’s just perfect! You two are deserving of each other Mr. and Mrs. Blight!” He then turned around and stormed off in the opposite direction.
“What was that guy's problem? Is he always like that?” demanded Odalia trying to make eye contact with Alador.
He merely shrugged and said “I don’t think he likes me very much.” Looking away from her because he really did not like seeing her angry.
“Well that’s an understatement.” she muttered. Glancing at Alador she could clearly see he was uncomfortable. She took a deep breath to try to calm herself down. The entire ordeal was nothing to her. She was used to arguing with people but it was probably too much for him.
“They are going to call you blight now too.” mumbled Alador in his usual monotone voice but Odalia could hear a tiny hint of guilt.
Given that it was Dorian they were talking about, she knew Alador was right. By the end of the day everyone in school would be calling them blight. On the bright side everyone will know who they are so it would be like free publicity.
“Let them call us blights. If being great makes you a blight then that’s what we'll be.” she said with a fire in her eyes. " We'll show Dorian and anyone else like him how amazing your inventions are." She boasted giving him a big smile. Alador returned her smile with his own much more reserved one.

School Crush (Vinira Fanfic)
(In december I posted this little idea and now I decided to started it, hope you enjoy and forgive the misspelling, english isn’t my first lenguage)
Chapter one:
‘‘I like girls’’. Emira started.
‘‘I like girls, too’’. Amity seconded after a few seconds of silence.
‘‘Ok...’‘. Alador responded a little shook. ‘‘I-- Wow, yeah, ok.’’
‘‘Is that all you are gonna say, dad? Really?’’. Asked Emira. She didn’t spend seven years in the closet for just to get an ok.
Alador shruged a little. ‘’Congratulations...?’’
‘‘Fine, that’s better’‘.
The Blight siblings and Alador were hanging out. This was something that have been happening some time ago. At first it started as a sisters’ night, just for Amity and Emira, but then Edric discovered this and was begging, crying and basically annoying his sisters for let him ‘’in’’.
He finally achived it.
So, every friday night, while their parents were in important meetings or fancy restaurants, the three would reunited in Emiras’s room and just talk. Sometimes they watched a series or practice some makeup. Even tried on clothes from either Edric or Emira. Sometimes they would sing a karaoke or just talk about their day, their friends, Luz, and throw bullshit of their parents.
They didn’t need to worry about the mansion’s staff. They all like them and have never said something bad of them to their parents. Plus, some have sewn up mouths so... Anyway.
What they did not expected was that, one night, their father would return early.
Alador was honestly tired. He have been awake for three days straight and needed some sleep. Even when his lovely wife, Odalia, told/demanded him to stay awake and attend another important meeting, he denied. Alador was sure that, if he stayed awake for another hour, his body will just collapse.
When he arrive to the mansion, the buttler (he never can remember his name, really) was there and took his coat. Alador didn’t wait more and went upstairs. The Bight manor was splendant, huge and, now that he was walking alone through the corridors full of old portraits in the middle of the night, he would consider it spooky.
The portraits gave him chills in his back. He felt like the eyes of his wife’s ancestors were following him in every step he took.
‘‘I wouldn’t be surprise’‘, Alador tought. ‘‘They may be haunted for real’’.
‘‘I should probably ask Odalia about it’’.
Alador walked to his bedroom’s door, and when he was about to open it he heard something.
It was a scream.
‘‘The kids’’. He tought.
Alador ran as fast as his tiredness allow him to the wast wing, where the children’s bedroom were. The screams kept going, ‘’Where is the staff?’’ Alador asked himself mentally. His kids could be diying and non of the guards he hired were even near.
The screams were coming from Emira’s room. But the shouting didn’t sounded like Emira.
He looked at Amity’s and Edric’s doors. They haven’t come out and their doors were closed. Alador was tempted to open the other two door, but decided not to. If his children were being kidnaped, he’ll deal with the kidnapper in Emira’s room first.
Alador took a deep breath and casted a spell, ready to attack if he needed to. He opened the door, fast and hard. What he saw let him speechless.
There was no kidnapper. There was no danger.
But, he really didn’t know what to think about the scene that was display infront of him.
Emira’s room was a disaster. There were snacks in the ground, Alador wonder if Odalia would be mad about it, he answered himself almost inmediatelly with a yes. The room was dark, except for the karaoke that, Alador supposed, one of the twins bought.
Edric was lying in the floor with a microphone in his left hand, while his right hand where finger-brushing his hair. Oh, and he was using Emira’s lastest grom dress and a twelve centimeters tall heels.
Amity was sitting in the little sofa that Em buy two years ago. Her face had some very excentric makeup, specially her eyes. A wildly combination of pink, glitter and black. With red-sparkled lip gloss. Her triangular earings were replaced with a pair of Emira’s expensive earings that were only used for important meeting or fancy parties. She was wearing her regular pajamas, with the slight difference that, over her pants, she was wearing a puffy skirt. And that her feet were covered with long cowboy boots.
Emira was sitting in her bed, face was covered in some kind of skin care treatment. A phosphorescent green skin care treatment. Even with that, she was the most normal looking of the three. All her makeup was in the bed, (probably the responsable of Amity’s face) and her hand was grabbing her scroll, that was recording Edric’s  performance, before he opened the door, at least. The scroll was still recording, by the way. Em didn’t have time to stop it before his father abruptely came in the room.
The Blight siblings were looking at him like deers flashed by a light. Each of them praying in their heads that if they don’t move Alador wouldn’t be able to see them, like some of the animal in the isles.
‘‘You... uhm,... arrived early’‘. Edric stated the obvious, crearly nervous. But, can you blame him? Not everyday your dad found you wearing a dress and using heels . Actually that never really hapened to him.
The music of the karaoke was still playing. Alador connected the dots and figured out that his son was the responsable of the screams.
‘‘Yes, I did’‘ Alador responded. He never had been a man of words, but in this moment he didn’t know what would be the correct way to react.
Should he scold them for being up at one in the morning making a fuss? Or He should just close the door and pretend that none of it happened?
He was definitely going to ask the servants if this was something that happened often and why they had not reported those... meetings that their children did.
‘‘Mom’s here, too?’‘ Amity asked. Her face now was now also covered with a strong blush of embarasment, that reached even her neck.
‘‘No, she is still in the meetong with the Hogson’s’‘ Alador answered.
‘‘Do you want to talk this now, or would you preffer to wait until the sun comes out?’‘ Alador asked. He wan’t sure if this was the right thing to do, but the words came out of his mouth even before he could think about it. That was something that didn’t happened to him since high school.
The kids glare at eachother and said a ‘’now’’ at the same time. If they waited for the sun, Odalia was probably going to arrive and they didn’t wanted to have that conversation with their mother.
None conversation, actually.
‘‘Alright’‘ their father said ‘‘Clean your faces and put on presentable clothes’‘
And with that he leave the room.
‘‘That could have been worse, right?’’ Edric said. He finally stoped doing the pose with his hand trought his hair.
‘‘Yeah...’’ Emira answered him ‘‘Mom could have catch us’’
‘‘Titan forbid’’ Amity said.
Once they cleaned their faces and put on their pijamas, the three siblings made their way to Alador’s office, who has completely forgot how tired he was.
They were nervous, Edric, specially. And were honestly surprised when the scolding was more about how they broke the curfew than about all the mess they did.
And after that, things evolved rapidly. The kids felt better in Alador’s pressence than ever before. They trusted their father even more because he didn’t said a thing to Odalia, and even gave the order to the servants to keep those meetings as a secret.
Two months later, Alador found himself spending the family-bonding-time, as Edric renamed it, with his children. The bonding-time had to be moved to saturday’s night, because Alador had the obligation to go to the meeting on friday. But the kids weren’t mad at all.
‘‘Dad?’’, Edric called for him. It has been five minutes since Emira and Amity’s comming out and Alador haven’t said anything esle since the congratulations. ‘‘Girls, I think you shouldn't have done it at the same time; now you’ve killed him’’.
‘‘We didn’t!’’ Amity shouted inmediately.
‘‘No, I think we actually did it, Mittens’’ Emira seconded.
‘‘I’m fine’’ Alador said some time later. The twins were disscussing if they should call an ambulance or just leave their dad there. Emira was drafting in her mind all the possible ways to hide Alador’s corpse in the manor, too. You have to be careful, right?
Alador sit up straight in the couch were she was lying. Before his both daughters come out to him some minutes ago, they were all watching a movie. If Alador had to be honest, he wasn’t really paying attention. He was falling asleep. This week has been rough, but for no reasom he would cancel the saturdaynight bonding time™.
‘‘None of my kids are straight, huh?’’ Alador thought.
Ok, to be fair, Edric haven’t come out to him (yet), but Alador prectically confirm his son’s orientation when he founded him performing when he discovered that friday sisters’ night. No straight, cis, man would use a dress and heels. Not even walk on them in the propper way Edric managed to do.
‘‘So, uhm, are you... mad or...?’’ Amity began.
‘‘Oh, no. No!’’ Alador answered, with a little laught that lately the siblings were more used to hear ‘‘I’m actually kind of relive.’’
‘‘Relieve?’‘ Edric asked, genuinely curious.
‘‘Indeed. I don’t have to worry about any potencial boyfriend and the concecuences that would imply-’’
‘‘Shut!’’ Amity and Emira shouted at the same time. ‘‘The school already teach us that. No need to repeated.’’ Emira continued.
‘‘I was talking about a heartbroken, but yes, sexual education is very important too.’’ Alador said. And, tho he seemed serious, he was teasing his daughters.
‘‘So, you are ok with this?’’
‘‘Yes, Amity.’’
Actually, I’m kind of a pansexual, myself. Alador tought,  but keep shut.
The movie was paused. Probably since some time ago but Alador didn’t notice. He glare at Emira’s wall clock. 12:05, it marked.
It was early, Odalia wouldn’t be back until three in the morning. Anyway he open his scroll to verify that his wife haven’t texted him or something.
There was nothing, as expected. Only Odalia’s last message where she told him that she was going to leave the party at 1:45 and was expecting been home around 3:00 a.m.
‘‘So,’‘ Alador started ‘‘any particular reason to tell me your orientation?’’
Yes, it was sweet, but Alador did knew his daughter a little and can almost tell that, at least Emira had something else to say.
‘‘No, no reason.’’ Amity answered. ‘‘Just to tell you with Em.’’
Alador look at his older daugher, waiting for her answer.
Yes, they were closer than bever before, but the sad truth was that even if his children did trusted in him, he didn’t think that they trusted him that much.
It was reasonable, not less hurting, but understandable.
‘‘Well...  You see, er. Ok, so. I actually wanted to tell you because, uhm....’’
Alright, now this was new. Alador never in his life had heard Emira stutter.
All his children were raise to be the embodinment of perfection, as Odalia describe it. The three took classes of everything. From music to etiquette, and diction was not left behind.
Now, Alador was sincerely curious.
‘‘There’s this girl in the school, and well-’’
‘‘Emira has a big crush on her.’’ Edric interrupted.
‘‘But Emira can be around her without being a red mess.’‘
‘‘You are one to talk, huh, Mittens.’’ Emira asked. Her cheeks were already a little blushy.
Amity looked away and Emira continue: ‘’My point is, that, her dad is kinda, a little... short budget. And-’’
‘‘Emira, I love you, but if that girl is using you for your money-’’
‘‘No! She isn’t! Sh doesn’t even know that I liked her’’
‘‘Well that’s debatable’’ Edric said ‘‘It’s really obvious and Viney it’s not as oblivious as Luz, plus-’’
‘‘Who’s Luz?’‘ Alador asked.
‘‘It doesn’t matter right now’’ Emira stated. ‘‘The point is, dad, that she didn’t even tell me his dad was in a little hurry. I was walking towards her and she was talking to her friends about it and I just heard a little. When I told her I could give her some snails she declined and actually was pretty mad about it, until last week, when I apologized. But I really want to do something about it.’’ Em talked fast, but Alador, as the good listener he had always been, didn’t missed anything.
‘‘And how can I help?’’ Alador asked.
‘‘Well, you can make him get a job? Maybe here in the manor or somewhere else. Her dad is in the construction coven, I think he is like, the right hand of the leader.’’
Alador hummed. Contruction coven right hand? He was a right hand once, before he was level up to coven leader. And he knew very well the salary of the seconds on board. It was a great amount of snails.
‘‘And before you say something like ‘she’s scamming you’, I want you to know that her family is really big. She has like, twelve siblings, not including her.’’
Alador sigh.
‘‘She really is a good person, dad. And if I can help her, I will.’’
‘‘She’s one of the noblest people we’ve met. There’s no danger’’ Edric said in favor of Emira’s propose.
Alador looked to Amity, who haven’t said much, and asked her with his eyes for her opinion.
‘‘I don’t hang out with her a lot, but she’s indeed good.’’
‘‘Well, I guess I have no other option, do I?’’
‘‘Thank you, dad!’’ Emira shouted and jump to her dad’s lap to trap him in her arms in a tigh hug.
‘‘I don't promise anything, but I'm going to see what I can do.’‘ Alador responded and hug Emira back.
He looked at Edric and Amity and with a head movement he invited both of them to join the hug.
Edric took Amity’s hand and join to it.
Well, Alador thought, I guess I have some work to do now.

Prompt luz arrives on the boiling isles before amity cut ties with willow
Holy shit this is a long one. Does anyone know how to do those keep reading things, cause I don't wanna fill up a lot of space. Anyways enjoy
Willow and Amity had always like going to the market. They loved all the cool stuff they would find. While Willows dads were looking through the market, they would wander to other stands looking at exotic artifacts. One day they ran into the most exotic thing they could find. Literally. They ran into a human. She looked the same age as them, had brown hair, brown eyes, tan skin, and a purple sweater with weird looking dolphins. Amity helped willow up and began shouting at the human.
Amity: HEY. WATCH WHERE YOUR GOING
Luz: I'M SORRY. POR FAVOR, NO ME REGAÑES
Amity couldn't understand the latter portion. Willow observed the girl careful. She noticed something about her ears were off. Willow tugged on Amity's shirt and whispered in her ear.
Willow: Wait Amity. I think thats a human.
Amity: No way. That's not possible
Willow: Look at her ears.
Amity took a closer look at the human and gasped.
Amity: She is human
Willow: See? I told you
Amity: What do we do now?
Willow: I know.
Willow approached the human carefully. She didn't want her to run away.
Willow: Hi. I'm Willow and that's Amity. What's your name?
Luz: Luz. Luz Noceda
Willow: Hi Luz. How did you get here from the human world?
Luz: I-I don't know
Amity tugged on Willows shirt.
Amity: I don't think she know how to get back to the human world.
Willow: Then we'll take care of her. She can live with me until we find a way to get her back.
Amity had some mixed feeling about the decision but went with it anyway. Amity and Willow tried to convince Willow parents to let her keep Luz. Eventually they agreed with the condition that she stays in the house when Willow went to school and luz has to cover her ears with a hat when they got out. Both of which weren't major problems. As time went on, Amity and Willow grew fond of Luz. They taught her about magic, demons and the Boiling Isles. Luz found it fascinating. One day, Amity came to Willows house with big news.
Amity: MY BIRTHDAY PARTY IS COMING
Willow: THAT'S AMAZING
Amity: Yeah. I can't wait to invite you and Luz
Luz: A birthday party?
Amity: You don't know what a birthdau party is?
Luz: I do. I never been to one before though.
Amity: Then mine can be your first.
Luz: REALLY
Luz hugged Amity super tight. Amity was a little startled at first but gladly returned the embrace.
Willow: This is gonna be awesome
A few weeks go by as Amity's birthday arrives. Willow and Luz show up to the Blight manor and step inside.
Amity: WELCOME GIRLS
Willow and Luz: AMITY
The three girls shared a group hug.
Amity: C'mon guys. Lets party.
Alador: Amity Blight
Alador and Odalia made their way to Amity
Amity: Yes Father, Mother?
Odalia: Can we discuss something in private.
Amity: Of course Mother.
Alador, Amity, and Odalia went down a hall on the side of the entrance and entered a room inside the hall. Meanwhile Willow and Luz waited patiently for their friend. Luz started moving uncomfortably.
Luz: Hey Willow, do you know where the bathroom is.
Willow: I don't know. I think its over there
Willow pointed to the hall Amity and her parents entered.
Luz: Thank you
Luz started her way towards the hall. She tried to look for the bathroom but couldn't tell what was a bathroom and what wasn't. She stop when she heard commotion coming from one of the rooms.
Odalia: Good children don't squabble dear. Sever your ties with Willow. And if you don't-
Alador: Then we will
Odalia: We'll make sure the girl is never emitted into Hexside. Now go and try not to make a scene.
Amity looked down at her feet and shuffled out of the room. Luz ran towards the nearest room and tried to hide from Amity. She didn't want her to know that she was eavesdropping. Luz turned arond and found herself in a bedroom. She looked at the side of the room and saw a bathroom. She entered quickly and slammed the door behind her. Amity entered her bedroom and immediately started crying. She didn't want to break ties with Willow. Willow was her bestfriend. Amity got startled when her bathroom door open and Luz walked out.
Amity: WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE.
Luz: I'm sorry I just needed to use the bathroom. I didn't mean to make you mad or hear your parents.
Amity looked in shock. She heard it?
Amity: Don't worry about it. It's not bad.
Luz: But they want you to stop being friends with Willow.
Amity: Well yeah but-
Luz: You're not going to listen to them are you?
Amity: I have to. They're my parents. I can't disobey them.
Luz: But they want you to do something you don't like.
Amity got frustrated at that.
Amity: YOU DON'T GET IT. I HAVE TO BE A GOOD DAUGHTER TO MY PARENTS. THEY HAVE BIG EXPECTATIONS FOR ME. YOU WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT THAT'S LIKE.
Amity broke down crying. She hugged herself tightly as if that's the last hug she'll ever get. Luz approached Amity carefully, thinking if she moved unexpectedly, Amity might run away.
Luz: I might not know a lot about you. But I know what that's like.
Amity: Do you?
Amity doubted she'd be in that situation
Luz: I do. My mom always thought I was weird. She didn't like the way I behaved and would have a crazy imagination. One she even said 'Why can't you just be normal'
Now it was Luz's turn to cry. She tried to remain strong for Amity, but couldn't help herself.
Luz: Please don't leave me and Willow. And if you do. Tell her the truth
Amity hugged Luz as tight as she could.
Amity: I'm going to try
Amity and Luz cleaned themselves up with tissues. Amity went to Willow and ask her to meet her in her room. When she arrived, Luz was there waiting and looking down. Willow looked confused.
Amity: You have to get out Willow.
Willow stood a little stunned.
Willow: Wait why
Amity: Because, because-
Willow grabbed Amity's arm. Holding it as if letting go would cause her to leave
Willow: Is it because I still can't do magic? Amity, I'm sorry I got us in trouble at the Beach. I just- I can't the spells right.
Amity looked at Luz who looked like she wanted to interfere.
Amity: Well. Yes, and no. Willow I know you can't do magic but I still want to be your friend.
Willow: Then why do you want me to leave.
Amity: Because my parents don't want you here. I'm sorry Willow, but I can't disobey my parents.
Willow looked at Luz, then at Amity.
Willow: What about Luz.
Amity: She has to go too.
Willow started crying
Willow: So what do we do now. You're parents don't want to see us with you. How are we going to play.
Amity: I don't know.
The room got silent.
Luz: I'm going to miss you
Willow: Me too
Amity: Yeah, me too
Amity heard footsteps approaching her room.
Amity: You have to get out. Or I'm going to get in trouble.
Willow and Luz headed out the room. They left the manor and headed home. Both girls looked down. They weren't sure if they lost a friend or not. Guess they'll know in time.

Your Vinira is sSO SWEET MY HEART US MELTING! How Viney not only accept Emira' stutter but straight up loves it?! Oh my poor bleeding heart! Now, my own question: How do the redeemed Blight parents react to their relationship?
Ooohhh see at least in my Willumity headcanons, Alador and Odalia don’t redeem themselves for several years. Like, maybe 8 or 9 years from when our girls first start dating. I imagine Viney and Emira become a thing in roughly the same time frame. So Emira doesn’t even tell her parents about her girlfriend. Viney introduces Emira to her parent(s) (eventually, maybe after like 6 months of dating?? Maybe a year?) and they are super wary at first because a Blight???? Is dating our daughter?????? And Viney reassures them that yes, they’re dating and it’s not some wild ruse. That being said, the heads of the Blight family also don’t know they’re dating so like. They’re trying to keep their relationship on the DL.
But if I’m gonna dip deeper......
( way deeper. This is another one of those Long One’s, lol )
I think....if Alador and Odalia catch wind of their daughters dating people they don’t approve of, there would be hell to pay. Like, all of them being grounded until further notice and that means escorts to and from school, no friends, no extra curricular activities, nothing but school and home. Not even their “approved friends” are able to communicate with them because their scrolls would be confiscated. Tutors (babysitters) while they do homework and further studying on weekends. No contact with the outside world. And if they even try to speak with anyone at school? They’ll all be pulled from Hexside and be homeschooled from then on.
All the while they’ll be using their connections to have Viney, Willow and Luz expelled, permanently. They may not have too much sway over these delinquents’ lives, but they’re going to make sure they’ll never be able to advance in society. And then they find out that this “Luz” is the Human that dared go against Emperor Belos? I can’t even begin to imagine the hell they’d bring down on them all.
So yeah, there’s a lot of disaster scenarios like that that haunt the Blight girls and ensure that they’ll never tell their parents of their relationships and will keep most displays of affection away from the rats that would somehow get the word back to them. At first it might hurt Luz and Viney to not be able to be affectionate, but Willow 100% understands. She already has that history looming over her in her memory. Viney and Luz will often use the Secret Room of Shortcuts in order to just hang out with their respective girls between breaks when they can.
I genuinely don’t know how the timeline of events will play out in the show in regards to Belos and the portal. It could take just days, weeks, months??? Years???? Before he’s taken down accordingly and a new portal is made.
Regardless, I like to think that in that time though, the moment the twins turn 18, they leave and they take Amity with them. They’re not just going to sit idly by anymore. Whether that means revoking their family name by some intensive ritual or just fleeing and using whatever money they took with them to find an apartment somewhere, they need to get out from under their parents’ thumb. As soon as they’ve established new lives for themselves, they are as open with their relationships as they want. They might even be a little over-eager, what with Amity kissing her girlfriends for probably too long at school in front of everyone, or Emira actively distracting Viney from her work while on the clock.
By the time we get to the point where they’re trying to re-enter their children’s lives, it’s stiff and awkward at best and like bulls butting heads at worst. The Blights are using any method they can to bring their children back home, whether it’s promises of extra freedom or putting in a good word to their coven of choice; even sending them extravagant gifts that none of them want. This maybe goes on for about a year before the twins and Amity agree to meet with their former parents. They bring their respective partners with them too; not as back up or anything, but mostly as moral support and as a giant middle finger to their parents.
Alador and Odalia don’t hold back their disdain. For their children’s’ foolishness, for their childish behavior thats ruffled so many feathers within the Emperor’s coven, for the damage they’ve all done to the Blight name; and for their daughters’ choices in partners.
They could take all of the other nonsense their parents were spouting, but being so outwardly hostile to their respective partners??? That causes Emira to nearly turn the entire Blight Manor upside down and Amity to summon an abomination large enough to chuck the manor into the Boiling Sea with her parents inside. Edric manages (somehow) to keep them both sane long enough to continue their conversation, at which point I think the Blights simply write off their girls’ anger as petty childishness.
And that. Is what sets off Luz, Willow and Viney. They absolutely go off on the Blights and just tear them both a new one. I think it’s been a long time since the Blights actually feared anyone besides the Emperor, but in that meeting, they feared these teenagers who seemed to radiate more power than they’d ever been witness to before. I think Emira and Amity are both shocked but Edric just gets comfortable and summons some popcorn to watch the show because finally, someone is telling off these miserable witches they used to call their parents.
They don’t meet with their parents again for a few more years after that encounter. I think Emira and Viney maybe break up once for a week before getting back together due to a misunderstanding, but Amity couldn’t possibly be happier with her life as it goes on, free from her parents and being able to be with her girls as she wants.
Over the course of the following years, they all still receive correspondence from their parents. On every birthday, they send a sum of money and a simple greeting. Every holiday season is the exact same. I think Luz is the only one to actually reach out to Alador and Odalia. I think she sends them a photo of their most recent holiday get together; where everyone is smiling or laughing or making messes or whatever. The exact opposite of every holiday held at the Blight Manor. They see each of their children, smiling and looking truly happy. And on the back, Luz maybe writes something about wanting to speak to them. Alone. Not with Amity or Willow, not with Emira or Viney, not with Edric, no one else. Just Luz and the Blights. They agree.
When Luz meets with them, it’s tense. They’re all quiet and stiff and still have an aura of hatred hanging between them. But Luz clears her throat and informs them that she’s planning on proposing to Amity and Willow. She’s still not sure when, or how, but it’s something she’s planning. She also informs them that if they don’t want to miss another wedding, they’d better clean their acts up and fast. And she just hands them a small scrapbook full of pictures of Emira and Viney’s wedding. They hadn’t even known it had happened. They weren’t informed, let alone invited, and Luz was granting them possibly the only chance they’ll ever have again at being in their children’s lives. Luz lets them know to reach out to her if they decide they want to be in their kids’ lives again and leaves them with the scrapbook.
When they do reach out, Luz shows up at Blight Manor with three others in tow: Eda and Lilith Clawthorne and Camila Noceda. They are three different kinds of pissed and the Blights have the good sense to just be good hosts and invite them in with little fanfare or argument. They all settle in with cups of tea and I think Lilith goes first; she tells them about how she’s had the opportunity to watch Amity grow up, even more so after she abandoned the Emperor’s coven. Over time she still acted as something of a mentor, but also as a parental figure when she or the twins needed her to be. She was honored to officiate Emira and Viney’s wedding. She’s grateful to be part of their lives because she’s been a witness to their incredible achievements. She really digs the knife in deeper when she tells them that Emira and Viney are considering having kids but Emira’s been especially hesitant due to fears that she’ll somehow end up like her parents.
Eda goes next, not even having touched her tea, just sitting with her legs and arms crossed and glaring at them in the most severe way. She tells them about the various sleepovers she’s hosted over the years. How at least half of those sleepovers found Eda talking outside with at least one Blight child if not all of them in the middle of the night.
She tells them she got herself a scroll for the first time ever because she knew those kids needed an adult figure that wouldn’t reprimand them for existing. They needed an adult figure to go to for comfort and guidance, someone that could reassure them that their best is more than enough. They don’t need to work themselves into the ground for a scrap of approval or force themselves into the rigid mold their parents made for them.
She tells them she’s seen more tears from the Blight kids than she’s ever seen from any other kind of creature. Not even Luz cried as often as they did, and she’s a giant softy (Luz lets out an indignant “hey!” At that and pouts). She tells them that she, Edalyn Clawthorne, the Boiling Isles Most Wanted, has provided more warmth and comfort for their kids in the time she’s known them than they [the Blight Parents] had in their lives.
Eda hasn’t had magic for years. But everyone knew how powerful she once was. They had all gone to school together too, of course they remember her and the trouble she caused. She lets them know that if she even had an ounce of the magic she once had, she would use it to decimate the Blight parents in every way possible for causing so much harm to three bright, talented, loving children that have grown into some of the most powerful witches the Boiling Isles has to offer. She also lets them know that before they even consider being part of those kids’ lives again, they have a lot of shit to work on and sort out. Because if they don’t? It doesn’t matter whether or not Eda has magic. She will decimate them.
Finally Camila sets her empty tea cup down and levels them with the most venomous stare she can. She’s the only one of Luz’s guests that’s actually also a biological mother. If she could, she’d probably go Super Saiyan with the sheer power she’s exuding with this stare. The Blights actually flinch which causes Lilith to have to hide a chuckle (she’s been on the receiving end of that rage before and she’s excited to see it unleashed on them).
She just starts tearing into them like her life depends on it. She doesn’t hold back in the slightest. She admonishes them for holding their social status at a higher priority than the safety and happiness of their own children. Her criticisms and curses are all laid out with razor precision. The longer she goes on, the more the Blights shrink in on themselves. Alador definitely starts crying at one point but refuses to wipe his tears away because he knows there’ll just be more anyway. The Clawthornes are shocked at seeing him cry, throughout their time at Hexside and while Lilith worked with the Blights in the Emperor’s coven, they’d never seen Alador express an emotion beyond irritation. Odalia also has tears in her eyes but she refuses to let them fall. Her face is bright red in shame though, it just grows steadily more red as Camila goes on. (Luz idly notes that that must be where Amity and the twins get their blushing genes from. She also notes that Odalia looks remarkably like Amity and wonders if that’s what Amity will look like when they’re that age. Her heart flutters a little at the concept of being with Amity for the rest of their lives, but she tampers down the runaway thoughts to refocus on her mom’s tirade).
By the time Camila’s done with them, Alador and Odalia are hiding their faces in shame. Alador’s trying to stifle his crying to the best of his ability cuz his breaths are turning ragged from how much emotion he’s experiencing. Odalia is desperately trying to wipe her tears away without ruining her makeup, but she’s also quietly sniffling and hiccuping. Camila sits back with a satisfied huff and Luz pats her shoulder (as a thank you? As a good job? As a ‘tag me in it’s my turn’? Who can say).
After letting the Blights collect themselves, Luz clears her throat to get their attention. She struggles for a moment to figure out the best way to say it, but ends up setting her jaw firmly and just blurting it out: she asks for their blessing for her to marry Amity.
After a moment of shocked silence, Luz’s courage starts to crumble a little and she begins to explain herself; she knows that Amity doesn’t value their opinion. She hasn’t for years now. Luz also doesn’t value their opinion. But if she’s going to such lengths to try and give one of the loves of her life her parents back? She may as well start off with a show of respect.
Odalia is the one that gets up from where she’s sitting and quietly approaches Luz. Eda and Lilith are about ready to throw hands if need be and Camilia starts to put her arm in front of Luz, but Luz stands up to meet her. Odalia gently takes Luz’s hands (she also notes that her hands are just as tiny and soft as Amity’s) and brings both of their hands up to about chest level. She has to clear her voice before she speaks; her throat became tight with the tears and hiccuping she was trying to hold back.
Odalia takes one hand to draw a large circle around their joined hands before clasping Luz’s hands again. She tells Luz that she absolutely has their blessing, and vows to do whatever she needs to to atone for the cruelty she put her children through. And so the Everlasting Oath is sealed.
Alador also stands up and does the same in a tear-strained voice. After his oath has been sealed, he places his hands on Luz’s shoulders and thanks her for being so damn stubborn.
They promise that they’ll be in touch with Luz again soon, but they need to talk to one another first and really sort everything out. Luz gives them a small smile and confirms that she’ll be waiting to hear from them as the Clawthornes/Nocedas stand up to leave. Before they leave, Odalia gently places a hand on Camila’s shoulder and asks her quietly if she could maybe come to her for advice on how to approach their children when they’ve figured themselves out. Camila stares at her for a moment before giving her a smile and nodding. She doesn’t have a scroll or anything, so she tells her to just reach out to Luz when they’re ready to talk. Odalia just nods and the Blights watch as their guests leave.
I think it particularly strikes Alador how casually Eda ruffles Luz’s hair and pulls her in for a side hug, loudly telling her how proud she is of her for pulling such a bold move. It dawns on him that he used to do that to Edric when he was still smaller than his own knee. It may have been after the first spell Edric ever successfully cast. Odalia sees Camila scoop Luz into her arms and plant a giant kiss to a her head, probably also praising Luz. They watch as Luz puts her arms around Eda and Camila’s shoulders as they leave the Blight estate and Alador closes the door before he starts crying again.
I think that’s the first time in years the Alador and Odalia really hug each other properly. Not to pose for a picture, not just a quick greeting as they pass each other in the halls of the Emperor’s coven, but like. For comfort. I don’t think they really realized how big and cold and empty their manor is until that moment.
I think it takes several months for them to get their acts together. They seek out a family counselor, they have weekly tea with Camila, they dust off the parenting books that have been untouched on the shelves in their library for decades. They look into Viney’s family and find out that she and Emira have started their own service beast program. The general air of grief and undertone of determination is interrupted by a moment of sheer pride at knowing their eldest daughter not only found someone she loves, but has taken the risk of starting her own business with her wife that’s a genuine service to the Boiling Isles. They make a few duplicates of the newspaper article they found announcing the grand opening of the first Service Beast Training Center and Shelter on the Boiling Isles and have it framed in different places; there’s one on the desk in their study, there’s another on their wall in their bedroom; they each have their own copy at their desks at work.
No joke, it’s taken Luz months to convince Emira and Viney that Em’s parents are trying to change. Emira has absolutely 0 faith in her parents being able to turn over a new leaf. It’s not until they hear Camila say that she’s surprised at the Blight’s improvement after their last tea meeting that they even consider that they actually are trying to change.
Luz coordinates a day and time for them to all meet once Emira and Viney agree to do so. I think they meet at a park somewhere, maybe a particularly nice public garden (maybe it’s Willow’s). Emira’s never seen her parents look so nervous before and that already sparks some hope in her heart that all of Luz’s efforts might not be naught. I think Odalia tries to reach out to hug Emira but like, actually flinches when Emira steps back. So instead they sit at one of the secluded garden tables and just talk.
Alador and Odalia apologize in as much depth as they can. Emira just sits and lets them say everything they want to say. Once they’re done with everything they can think of, they just sit in silence for a minute while Emira processes everything they’ve said. It’s not until Viney squeezes her hand that Emira finally starts crying. She wants to be angry, she is angry, but her entire heart feels like a full-grown griffon just stood up from where it was sitting and flew away. Her heart feels so much lighter. She stands up and moves to her parents and they stand and embrace her tightly for a while. Viney also feels like a huge weight has been lifted just watching the exchange. Maybe she also cries a little bit because she’s so happy to see her wife so happy. (And she maybe ignores the sound of a high five happening in the distance; she’s like, 90% sure Luz is there with someone else spying on them to make sure the meeting goes well).
All the Blights have full-on waterworks going on because they each individually realize this is the first time they’ve expressed their love for each other in probably more than a decade. Long before Emira and Edric took Amity and left. Viney maybe also hears a muffled sniffle and when she turns around to see, yup, there’s Luz, and she’s definitely crying into Willow’s shoulder. Viney rolls her eyes. Luz is such a sap. That’s probably why they all love her so much. She brings out the sap in all of them too.
After the Blights finally calm down, Alador and Odalia have an entire separate list of things to apologize to Viney for, which takes her off guard. She maybe expected an apology for the last time she saw them in person, but they went waaaay deeper than just that. And then they don’t stop at the apologies? They start thanking her for all sorts of stuff. Like loving Emira and being there for her when they weren’t. For helping her grow into the incredible person she’s become. They also congratulate them on their Service Beast Shelter and ask if maybe eventually they’d be allowed to visit and see them in their element. That’s when Viney’s face finally splits into a wide grin and she joins the big family hug they’ve got going on.
Lmao so yeah, long story short, it takes them a long-ass time, but eventually the Blights learn to love Viney 💖💖💖

Favors of A. Blight ch. 4
Rating: T Word Count: 2,309 Contains: Paranoia, Verbal Abuse, Abandonment Issues
Alador had never been a great planner, not even when it came to his Abominations. He preferred to think of himself as a tinkerer; he knew his end goal, and he knew where to start, everything else was just details he could figure out along the way. It was part of why Blight Industries was second-to-none. The designs couldn’t be stolen until the Abominations had actually been produced, because they didn’t exist until the very last second, and the only people capable of replicating the Abominations without Alador’s assistance were shareholders in BI anyway. And even then, they’d have a difficult time without Alador’s notes.
However, Alador could name a number of times where his inability with planning served more as a detriment. Like right now, for instance. His feet thudded against the still warm mud, and he felt the exhaustion in his bones as he conjured the energy for another spell, wiping away traces of his passing for this portion of his journey. He had no idea where he was going, or even where he was. When he’d left, over half a day ago judging by the first faint traces of sunrise in the distance, he’d been heading towards the Elbow.
If he’d gone by cart or staff, he’d have been by now. But if he had gone by cart, there was no way he could have avoided being tracked. Not without hurting, and possibly killing, people. He wasn’t a murder. “Aren’t you?” he tried to ignore the intrusive thought, whispered to him with the faintest touch of Odalia’s voice.
Then there was his staff. He fiddled with the zipper hidden in the interior of his work jacket. It hadn’t been unzipped in a long time, and it had been even longer since he last laid his hands on his staff. Would Pige even recognize him, after all these years? If she did, would she be able to forgive him, for locking her away to gather dust in a bag of holding? For abandoning her? Lily had, but… that was different. The bond between a palisman and a witch was supposed to be something unbreakable. And if it was broken… well, Alador had seen his fair share of Odalia’s palismans. The ones that escaped with cracks and breaks were the lucky ones.
So no, his staff wasn’t an option. He couldn’t afford to lose Pige now. That left his feet. Heading towards the elbow, with no idea what to do afterwards. Probably head towards the shoulder, and then… the skull, maybe? It was largely untamed, due to the difficulty of crossing the mouth… Which would also present him his own challenge.
He couldn't walk much longer, he knew. The only thing keeping him going was the momentum of it; if he stopped, he would collapse where he stood. Then he saw the shack, alone amongst the trees, with a wild garden creeping around and, in a number of places, on it.
Alador made his way into the dusty abode, the door creaking as it opened before him. He coughed, and dust swirled in the air. He took in the room. It was bare, save a coffee table, an armchair, and a rather large couch. He almost cried seeing the couch, and collapsed upon it. Exhaustion took him immediately.
He awoke with a start, to the sound of someone drinking something. Someone lived in all this dust? "Of course not. Don't be stupid, dear," Odalia's voice answered his private thoughts. His body froze. "At this point it might set a record."
"You're dead!" He wanted to shout, but it came out as a whisper.
"And yet, here I am" Odalia's voice commented, and he could hear her take a slow drink. "What makes you think I'd be dead?"
"You couldn't have survived…" his own voice felt distant. Barely there.
"Survived what, dear?" Odalia's voice was strong; firm, yet calm.
"I killed you."
"No, you didn't, Alador," she denied, and he felt her cold hand reach out and take his. He shuddered as she squeezed. "You made an Abomination do it, and ran away. Nearly thirty years, and you didn't even stay to watch the light leave my eyes."
"Shut up," he tried to command her voice; she couldn't be here, he had to be hallucinating.
"Honestly Alador, could you at least act a little more mature? You tried to have an Abomination murder me, and I'm still able to hold a civil conversation."
"How are you here?"
"Because you failed, Alador. Like always."
"I'm not a failure!"
"Yes you are! You've been a failure since you were a child! When was the last time you even contributed to anything successful?"
"The company-"
"Yes, your father's company, that he made successful with his own Abominations. His success earned him his spot as the first head of the Abomination coven. Then, he passed it down to you, and I made sure it didn't crash and burn while you… tinkered."
"My Abominations-"
"Are certainly unique, I'll give you that. But successful? Please Alador, we both know that for every one that works there are at least seven failures."
"I-"
"Don't speak. I've proven my point," Alador felt his jaw reluctantly clinch with Odalia's command. "Honestly, Alador, why do you always insist on fighting what you know is right?"
"You're wrong," his voice came out quiet, and weak.
"Am I?" He felt the cold spread from his hand up his arm, seizing his throat.
"I'm not worthless," he said, trying to squeeze her hand hard enough to hurt. She gave no reaction.
"I never said you were worthless, Alador," she said, affecting a soothing tone, "You're worth quite a fortune, and you were able to sire one good heir. Although she did inherit your rebellious streak. But I can smooth that out. No, Alador, what you are is pathetic."
He felt the chill settle on his heart, as tears began to well in his still closed eyes, "No."
"Yes, Alador. You've always been pathetic. Even when you were a child, and you wanted to settle for Lilith."
"Shut up!" He shouted, but found himself unable to rip his hand from her grip, or move at all.
"The second-best child of a second-rate family. But honestly, if it weren't for your money, even she would have been out of your league. "
"Shut up!" A sharp blow came across his cheek, and a chill spread out from the impact. She'd slapped him?
"You will not speak back to me like that Alador!" Odalia's voice… changed, somehow. Even in her fury her voice was icy, cold enough to burn. "I've spent every moment of our marriage taking care of you, even when you began cheating on me and drinking that horrid memory potion, and this has been my repayment? Leaving the job of murdering me to one of your little toys, sending our children off to be under the care of criminals, and this ungrateful attitude when all I've tried to do is remind you of your place?"
"How do you know about the children?" Alador asked. She wouldn't have had time to check on them if she had followed him, and there was more that didn't add up, "And you couldn't know about the memory potion… and I made sure to wipe my tracks."
He could feel the ghost of her lips near his ear as she whispered to him, "I know everything about you, dear. You can't escape."
Alador shot upwards in a cold sweat, the blankets pooling at his hips. There hadn't been blankets when he'd passed out… Had Odalia really been here? He looked around, and noticed a surprising lack of disturbance in the dust, save what he knew himself to be responsible for. "How?"
"Are you awake this time?" A voice called from above him. Turning his head towards the voice, he saw a fox, upside down on the ceiling.
"Uhm… yes?"
"Good. You're quite noisy in your sleep. I hoped the blankets might help calm you, but they didn't."
"Oh… my apologies… I didn't realize this home was occupied," Alador pulled the blankets to the side, and sat up, preparing to leave.
"It's not," the fox said quickly, "and I don't mind if you stay. I'll just need to close my ears." Alador took a moment to process everything as his brain shook off the last remnants of his terrifying rest. The fox was carved from wood, but moved naturally, and was now making its way down the side of the wall, one paw always on the wood. Was it a house demon? But it was so different from the Owl House's house demon? Perhaps, if Alador were lucky, Hooty was unique.
"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't stay. I'm making my way to the Skull."
"Oh," the house demon's body slumped, "Is that far?"
"Oh, uhm," something about the question threw Alador, "I'm not sure. I've never made the journey on foot. Maybe a week?"
"That seems a long way, why are you going so far?" the fox questioned, and Alador froze up. How was he meant to answer this? Any answer he could give would only bring more questions that he was even less ready to answer.
"I don't believe I owe you an answer," he decided to avoid the question.
"You barged into me and passed out, and now you're trying to abandon me! An answer is the least of what I'm owed." Alador took a moment to process the demon's words, as he stared down at it. It looked up at him, clearly upset.
"Abandon you?" He asked, and the fox almost winced, withdrawing into itself.
"Well," the fox stuttered, "I just thought that, with how you came in and passed out, that maybe you'd stay..."
Alador carefully thought out his answer, finally responding "You might be right, about me. I guess it is kind of like me abandoning you. I've… done a lot of that this past day."
"You don't have to," the fox offered, "you can stay."
"I can't," Alador denied, "I'm a wild witch. You'll end up hurt if I'm found."
"Then don't be found!" The fox exclaimed desperately, "I don't think wild witches are bad, if that's what you're worried about. My old occupant was a wild witch!" That… explained a lot, when Alador thought about it. Including why the house was likely abandoned.
"I can't," Alador said, stepping towards the door. "I'm not strong enough to stay."
"You don't have to be!" The fox said, "Please, stay!"
"I'll make you a promise," Alador offered, "when I can come back, I will."
"Daphne said the same thing," the house demon muttered, looking away. After a moment, the fox offered its paw, "Make an Everlasting Oath."
Alador, hesitantly, drew the energy up for the Oath, taking the fox's paw. "When I can, when I have the strength to, I will come back." The oath sealed itself. Alador made his way to the door.
"My name is Vul," the house demon called out to him, "when you come back, you can call me Vul."
(Line break)
Luz ascended the stairs quietly, listening for any sounds from the Blights. However, even as she stood in front of the door to her room, she heard nothing. Carefully, she pushed open the door, letting out a breath when she saw all three Blights, sitting quietly in a circle. Piled on the floor between were their scrolls, and even from here Luz could see the massive amount of notifications. News travelled fast. On the Boiling Isles apparently.
"Hey," she gently called out, to no reaction from the seemingly-numb Blights. After a moment of the awkward, somber silence, she continued, “I wanted to come check on you guys. Are you ok?” Quickly, she continued, “Sorry, that’s a stupid question. Of course you’re not ok, given everything going on. I’m sorry, I’ll leave-”
“Stay,” Amity said, softly, just as Luz was about to cross the threshold out of the room, “Please.”
“Alright,” Luz agreed, moving towards Amity. She sat down gently, joining the Blights in their silence. She found Amity's hand, and gave it a gentle, comforting squeeze. Amity squeezed back, tight, and didn't let go, as if making sure Luz was really there.
It was Emira who broke the silence, "What happens now?"
The squeeze from Amity's hand tightened for just a second, before Amity spoke, "I don't know."
"We wait for Dad, right?" Ed suggested, "Miss Lilith said they didn't find him, so he's probably out there, right?"
"Ed…" Emira quietly said
"No!" He almost shouted, "They probably need Dad, because he's really powerful with Abominations, or they want the money and need one of our parents, and Dad was the smarter choice. So he's alive."
"Ed's right," Amity agreed, "If he wasn't found, there's no reason to believe he's dead." An uncomfortable silence descended, as Amity spoke the fact they'd been avoiding. Eventually the silence was broken, by a crow pecking at the window.
"Dear Emira, Edric, and Amity Blight," a voice Luz didn't recognize called out, "As assistant to the leader of the Oracle Coven, I wish to inform you that the coven will be taking the burden of making funeral arrangements for your mother. Currently, the funeral is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday the Eleventh, at three p.m. If this time is inconvenient, please respond with a time better suited. If not, we will see you tomorrow at the coven's temple in Bonesborough." The crow then closed its beak, almost entirely motionless as it perched on the windowsill.
"Wow, that seems quick," Luz commented, "In the human realm it's like three days to a week." When none of the Blight children responded, Luz added, "Sorry. I probably should have kept that thought to myself."
"It's alright," Amity says lightly, squeezing Luz's hand for comfort.

OWL HOUSE X CTHULHU MYTHOS: GODS AWAKEN (Pt. XI)
Tumblr media
It was an uneventful night for the Blight family. The Blight twins were already in their rooms, and Amity was still awake looking over her homework for the next day of school. As she was finishing up her homework, she decided to look on Penstagram for updates. It struck Amity as odd that her former friend Boscha hadn't posted onto the site for some time since her fight with Willow. It wasn't to say that she missed seeing whatever her ex-friend posted, because after all, she did cause her to be bedridden with a fractured leg for a few weeks. But given how obsessed Boscha was with the site, it was uncharacteristic of her to ignore it for days.
Instead, it mostly consisted of posts from her other classmates like Skara and the like. She was just about finished with her browsing when a news flare got her attention. Looking at it, her jaw nearly dropped on her desk. "Palisman tree has been killed?" she said to herself.
The revelation took the air out of Amity's lungs. It was every witch of the Boiling Isles' dream of having their own staff and palisman. Now, she, and every other witch-in-training, would be denied that chance. Her; her siblings; Willow; Gus; Luz...
Amity's heart skipped a beat at the slightest thought of that human girl. Ever since that dance they shared at Grom in order to defeat Grometheus, the witch girl had found herself falling hard for Luz. Just thinking about her for one moment was enough for Amity to completely forget what she was doing, a more unfortunate consequence of being bitten by the love bug (when those insects were not in season that year). And yet, the most sufferable thing about it was Luz's obliviousness to her growing feelings. Amity wanted to hate herself for feeling that she was speaking to a rock, but Luz's stupid tendencies were also endearing.
Amity glanced at the papers on her desk realizing that she was writing something on one of the papers. She brought it up to her face seeing that it was addressed to Luz. Amity blushed a tomato red and promptly crumpled up the paper and through it in the garbage can.
"That was close," Amity thought to herself, "I don't know what I'd do if Luz read that."
A twinge of tiredness befell the young Blight. Yawning, she stretched her arms and was about to prepare for bed.
Knock, knock.
Amity turned towards her bedroom door. "Edric? Emira? What do you want now?" She crossed her arms and stomped her foot impatiently. "If it has to do with that bat that Edric wanted to keep, a frog ate it."
"It's me and your mother" the knocker replied.
Amity froze up at the realization of who it was. On the other side of the door were her domineering parents Odalia and Alador Blight. What possible reason did they have to knock at her door during that time of night? It'd better be urgent. Amity shook off her wondering thoughts and opened the door. Both of her parents were dressed in black, matching cloaks that covered their feet. Odalia looked like a spitting image of her young daughter; the only difference was the pure emerald green of her hair vs. Amity's brown spot that stuck out like a sore thumb. Her hair was tightly held back in a bow. The shoulders of Odalia's cloak arched in pointed triangles.
Alador had a noticeably grizzlier appearance. Short brown hair was on his head complimented by his goatee-styled beard. Thick, long eyebrows hung over as a canopy for his eyes but also contributed to his vaguely-goat attire. Like his wife, the sleeves of his cloak came together in arched shapes. There was a peculiar look coming from him one of contemplation. Amity couldn't help but notice that he gave passing glances to his wife then to the door. With the sporadic movement of his eyes, it gave off a sense that he truly did not want to be there or would frankly want to be anywhere but here.
"Yes?" Amity finally said, "what do you want?"
"Dear," Odalia said, "how did your week of school go?"
Amity raised an eyebrow at the sudden words. "Still at the top of my classes."
She was fully expecting some praise for her accomplishments, but her parents only responded with silence before turning their attention back to her.
"While at school, was there anything that you were trying to keep from us?" Odalia asked.
"No?"
"Oh, you don't?" Odalia said.
Amity shook her head.
"Let me rephrase the question then," Odalia announced, "was there anyone in particular that you were conversing with?"
Amity turned to look away at the judgmental eyes her parents were giving her. "No, of course not."
"Amity, don't try to assume that I am a hopeless imbecile." Odalia waved her finger in the air and withdrew a purple scroll. She took her finger and skimmed through her notifications. Amity and Alador looked at each with a shared look of curiosity until Odalia put her finger down. "What is this?"
She directed the scroll towards her daughter and pointed at something on it. Amity's heart sank from what she was seeing: a picture of her; Willow; and Gus. They were talking with each other in the school's library. Amity tapped her fingers in a nervous fidget to find an explanation.
"We had told you to stop associating with that half-witch," Odalia said strictly, "can't you see that you are squandering your status in the social order?"
Amity nodded. "Well, I can see why you think that."
Odalia crossed her arms. "Think? I know; you had kept that promise of yours for years now and yet you now decide to see Willow behind our backs?"
Amity clenched her fists. "Willow is special to me." She unclenched her fists with more conviction. "I told her that I would keep her safe."
"From who if you don't mind me asking?" Alador asked.
"Boscha," Amity responded with little hesitation.
Odalia's eyes widened. "We had struck up an agreement with her mother that you would befriend her, and yet, how long have you spoken to her?"
"I did not speak to her in weeks."
"I will have you know that Boscha had been missing for weeks," Odalia mentioned, "did she do something that caused Boscha to disappear without a trace?"
"Willow would never do that," Amity said with conviction.
"Whatever the case, we are concerned that you associating yourself with Non-Blights is affecting your mind," Alador said.
How offensive, Amity thought. Those were her friends they were criticizing and shamelessly belittling without their knowing.
"The last few days with all of them had been nothing short of amazing; I don't care if Willow is a half-witch or that Luz is a human. This is the first time in my life that I felt legitimately happy."
Odalia rolled her eyes. "That's great that you are happy, but do you know what bad precedent this would put on us?"
"No."
Odalia walked away from the room and disappeared. It was only Amity and her father in the room. He sat down by the side of his daughter's bed looking away. What he said next would surprise Amity.
"I'm actually kind of pleased with how you stood up for that half-witch."
"What?" Amity said.
"I was never fully on board with your mother's suggestion that you severe ties with Willow; I could see then – and now even – that you care deeply about her, and maybe forcing you to befriend Boscha was just our way of ensuring that you were strong."
He pat Amity's covered foot. "But look at you now; the top of your class; actually going against Boscha even though it would be foolish in the eyes of others; and your loyalty are all great attributes; if only there were a way to go back time where your mother and I chose to let you do what you want. Only then you would've become a witch more powerful and feared and it would be your success to reap."
Amity didn't know what to say. She always assumed that Alador would be against Willow because of her status and developing prematurely. But this was the same father who was now retconning everything her old dad had tried to establish. She was reminded of how she secretly wrote in her journal how she didn't want to be mean but only did so to not show weaknesses. This was likely the same tactic that her father does. At the same time, Amity couldn't shake off the notion that Alador still went along with her mother's demands was still a spineless blunder.
Odalia walked back into the room carrying a thick book. She held it up with her hands to show what she had. "It is a book of the history of the Blight family."
She opened it up and skimmed the pages until her finger landed on a picture. "Your great-grandmother Audrea was one of the most powerful witches of the family." She flipped to the next page of the yellowy-wrinkly book. "There's Ozpin demonstrating his first time using his Abomination."
She flipped through more pages whilst ignoring the dust kicking into the air. "Can't you see all these amazing people?"
"Well, I have read small parts of the book," Amity said, "but what are you trying to say?"
"I AM saying that you are besmirching the proud family name by continuing to squander your attention by continuing to see Willow against our back."
"Well, I don't even want to BE a Blight if it means that I will have to throw Willow and the others away like a griffin's hairball."
Odalia slammed the book shut and placed it on the floor.
"What of your dream of entering the Emperor's Coven?" she inquired.
"Lilith left it," Amity noted, "do you think that there was something horribly wrong enough to make her bail?"
Odalia scoffed at the point. "Lilith is a traitor; only a full would turn their backs on the privileges that Lord Belos would bestow to them." She placed the palm of her hand on the door frame. "Let only death be the harshest punishment that a traitor deserves."
Her mother was right about one thing: witches were forever indebted to Belos and to leave would be an act of treason fitting only those who practiced wild magic. Amity couldn't help but feel worried for her former idol, but she also felt a sense of karma for her due to her almost killing the love of her life.
"But dear," Alador said, "at the least Edric and Emira are approaching the age for the coven."
"I don't care if the twins are likely better qualified," Odalia said, "please reconsider everything you will be sacrificing and do the right thing."
Amity shook her head. "I am through with you controlling me."
Odalia's pointed ears perked up. "What was that?"
"You heard me loud and clear Mom: I am never going to leave Willow the way she was again."
Odalia turned around and pointed her finger at her daughter. "And I do not want you to associate with that human girl."
"Her name is Luz, Mom," Amity said.
"I don't care what this human girl's name is; if anything, she is some rat with a lot of gall to believe that she can be just like us."
Amity raised her finger. "She can perform magic; just...in a way that I have never seen it being done."
"That is not magic," Odalia insisted, "that is utter mockery of what the Titan blessed us with; I will not have it up to here with a talentless mongrel like that."
Amity passively shot a fireball at her mother in the heat of her anger. Odalia narrowly avoided the ball which immediately ran out of fuel. Odalia's eyes twitched.
"So, we have a failure to conform?"
Amity immediately clasped her hands together. "I'm sorry, Mom, I didn't mean to..."
"Enough!" Odalia raised her hand. "Maybe a trip to the Conformatorium would be beneficial for both of us."
Amity's eyes bulged at the announcement. "No, anything but that!"
Odalia bent down and collected the family album book. "I am giving you this one chance: either you do as we say and abandon Willow, or we would be forced to have you taken and you would be stripped of the Blight name."
Amity looked down to hide her hurt expression.
Odalia put her arms on her sides. "Understand?"
Amity nodded without another word.
With that, her parents left the room and quietly shut it to avoid the twins being woken up by their ramblings. They walked down the hall and entered their bedroom: there was a white sheet that split the room in middle on both sides being matching beds made with the same material. They both sprawled on the bed and said nothing for a few minutes.
"Odalia," Alador started in a hushed tone, "maybe you are being a little too...over-exerting?"
"No, that is foolish thinking," Odalia replied, "this is her future we are talking about."
"Maybe that's the problem?" he answered back "maybe you're projecting yourself onto our daughter?"
Odalia rolled over. "I tried my best to become a part of those elites, but my chances were always taken from me; I just want what is best for our daughter."
"But you also try to die her hair green when you know she's a natural-"
She hit her fist against the wooden bed post. "What was that?"
"Oh, uh, nothing, dear," he said. "Goodnight."
Both of them were still very much awake, but they opted to not speak of this any further. At least until the morning.
Amity was under her bed covers rolling around a few times. She could not believe her mother. After years of taking her abuse, she finally had her chance to tell her mother what she felt, but now she was weighing down harder for her. And Luz...she could not bear to listen to her mother speak of her shamelessly. Human or witch, it didn't matter: she felt at home with Luz and the other misfits. She took her pillow and pushed it over her head.
"UH! Why is life this complicated!?"
"I know, right? What a drag."
Amity bounced forward in her bed to scan her surroundings. "Who said that?"
"Up here!"
She looked up at the ceiling and, to her horror, she saw a black-eyed man staring down at her. She tinkered around with her desk and tossed a book towards the man. It squarely hit him in the face.
"Ugh! Hey, be careful with that!" he yelled back.
"Who are you?" Amity said. She was reaching for something else to grab.
"A friend of your human girl," he replied, "I am Hypnos."
Amity had grabbed a few scrolls and was positioning them in the direction of the man. "Did you do something to her!?"
Hypnos slid his arms through the ceiling in a defense stance. "Rest assured, she is fine; but she needs your help."
Amity dropped the scrolls to blush profusely. Luz needed her? Her little heart could barely take it. "Yes! Who do I have to kill?" she said absent-mindedly.
"I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I'd like you to dial it back a couple knots."
Amity put her face in her hands. "Yes, yes; I apologize."
Hypnos appeared in front of her bed and held out his hand. "Well? Are you ready?"
"I don't know," Amity said, "what about my parents?"
"Oh, I just went into your siblings' minds to instill in them to keep your parents busy and away from the door at all times; no matter how ludicrous."
With that, Amity took his head and they were off.
Meanwhile at the Emperor's Coven, Belos was sitting at his throne his mind wondering. His spy had returned from spying on the residents of the Owl House and reported of some suspicious behavior. "So, Hypnos is assisting them?" he thought to himself.
He was alerted to a knock on his door and left the idea of an Elder God assisting the mortals on the backburner. "Yes, come in."
Kikimora poked her little demon head from the other side of the door. "My Lord, you have a visitor."
Belos flicked his fingers causing the metal to shake. "Send him in."
Belos was in the middle of opening up another palisman when he suddenly dropped it. The figure came in with an odd walk to him. He was a tall man who eclipsed Kikimora. A dark, swarthy man, his head was shaved bald yet no light gleamed off it. He resembled an Egyptian from the ancient times (some insisting that he had native blood flowing through his veins). The man possessed a lean appearance and well-built frame. Around his lower body, a skirt of misty colors manifested. Aside from hair, he had a long, pointed beard hidden behind a metal case.
Emperor Belos got out of his throne and bowed before the figure. "Master! It's been far, far too long!"
Nyarlathotep held up his hand. "No need for such fluffy worship; I see that you have kept the Isles in top-knotch shape for years now."
"Yes, and the Isles are flourishing as a result," Belos responded.
"If only you had little free will to do that," Nyarlathotep mumbled.
"As you can see, the portal is ready as we speak," Belos announced, as if expecting some praise from his master.
"Excellent work; once the book is found and I receive my powers, everything will be different."
Belos nodded. "And I can get some due vengeance...I have...misgivings with the Earth."
"I did not come here to observe your process," Nyarlathotep stated, "I have a demand."
Belos tilted his head. "What is it, Master?"
"In the festive village of Bonesborough, there is a particular family of talented witches. I am sure you know of them."
Belos answered quickly. "The Blight family?"
"Yes - I am glad that you are putting that brain of yours to good use – in the family, I want the matriarch to join your ranks."
"But Master, Odalia Blight had already tried to enlist the ranking years ago and lost her chance; I cannot allow her to join."
Nyarlathotep walked over to the Emperor, fire dancing in his eyes. "Is that a sign of disobedience?"
Emperor Belos quickly clammed up. "No, sir."
"Good. You will have Odalia join the Emperor's Coven, and she will be my pawn...at least until she bores me and wears out her use. I will send my protégé to the school of Hexside; there is a certain man there who does know the whereabouts of the book's copy on the Earth. If push comes to shove...well...think of any unpleasant fate that could befall him and his students."
Belos understood the veiled threat. "Very well; I feel that I should also inform you that the human girl is likely planning something to jeopardize our plan."
Nyarlathotep laughed. "Ah, Luz? She's a lovely girl and has become a favorite chew toy of mine."
Nyarlathotep turned to walk out of the throne room. "Please also allow Odalia to gain access to your weapons."
"Bu-but..."
Nyarlathotep clenched his fist causing the Titan's heart to beat rapidly. Belos plopped on the ground to grasp at his chest. His breathing was becoming slanted; with little push, Nyarlathotep could crush the heart with whatever unholy power he had at the moment and that would be the end of Lord Belos. Nyarlathotep released his grip on the heart and exited the throne room.
"The Day of Unity is upon us," Nyarlathotep announced.
Alone in his throne room, Belos' regular breathing returned. He clutched weakly at one of the arms of his throne and picked himself from the ground. He looked over his shoulder to see if Nyarlathotep was truly gone. After giving it a few minutes, Belos went behind his throne and knelt down. There was a secret compartment behind it. He steadied his breathing and opened the compartment. Inside of it was a spear that housed a crazily angled rock. He clasped it in his hands and studied it carefully.
"It'll soon be time."

Chamomile {Part VI}
Eda and Amity share a cup of tea
“Well, be my guest. You technically already are my guest, but… Anyway, whenever you’re ready.”
“Right. As I said, mother does it herself, she doesn’t call for a servant to do it, or a professional. No, that’s our little mother and daughter time, as she calls it. And she always goes on and on about how nice I look next to my siblings when we all have the same color afterwards. Looking like a Blight, she says. She’s there messing with my hair and she won’t even say a word, not a single word. We both just stay there silent as she goes through the motions. Have you ever done it? Have you ever dyed your hair? The first thing you’re supposed to do is bleach it, that’s important. Especially if you are going to put a light tone like this. I never really got it, her hair is a darker shade than this, Ed and Em’s too. But she always went for this light green. You’d think she’d make father dye his hair to, but its actually more like she forbids him from that. Anyway. To be fair, I actually prefer this over their tone. Anyway, I once asked Lilith, back when she was still my mentor, if your scalp was supposed to itch after you bleach it. She said it never happened to her. That was the end of it. But I guess it kind of changes with time, either that or I’ve gotten better at controlling the itch. After mother is done and the dye dries she will always shower me with compliments, the name Blight thrown every other sentence. She’ll keep this up for like a couple of days, give or take. Then, when it starts to fade or it just generally becomes old news, then its back to the cold shoulders. When the brown roots start to ‘spoil the look’, as she puts it, she’ll make sure not to let me forget it. The word Blight completely absent from her mouth when it comes to me. That will go on until our next mother and daughter time. Then she’ll call me a Blight again. Until then I’m hardly Amity anymore. She’ll do this kind of treatment with Ed and Em sometimes too. But their hair is naturally green, and they are better than me at avoiding giving reason to it, I guess. I used to think that it was favoritism or something like that. We talked, the three of us, I don’t think that, not anymore. Luz told you about that library fiasco, didn’t she?”
“Yup, she did.”
“So, what prompted that was the… let’s call it the broken vase mystery. A porcelain vase, I thought it was something passed down from generations, some sort of Blight heirloom. Nope, she bought it the week before. Those things all look the same, to be honest. Pretending to be ancient and more valuable than they actually are, way too needlessly intricate for you to actually appreciate the details. Honestly, I don’t even think there is something to be appreciated in things like that, once glance and you’ll get all that it has to offer. In any case, one morning the thing is on the floor, completely shattered.  Obviously, we were the three main suspects. Well… those two didn’t accuse me. But they didn’t exactly took responsibility either, and I knew for a fact Ed snucked out the night before and Em was covering for him. Some accident must have happened in the process and the vase was the victim. As I said, they didn’t take responsibility. So we all got grounded. I was livid. Three weeks, with another one of probation.”
“Probation? Seriously? Your parents gave you all a rap sheet?”
“I… I know… It really is worse than it sounds. Anyway, two weeks in, I storm into father’s office and tell him everything I knew.”
“Snitch.” Eda snickered.
“I’m not proud of that, but in the end I guess it was for the best, really.  They were proud, apparently, of what did, and the amount of evidence I had to support my innocence. So I was back to being a Blight. Ed and Em weren’t anymore, not until their sentences were done with, that is. They got two months added to it, eleven weeks in total, with the possibility of appeal after the sixth week, not counting the first sentence. Mother and father said: obstruction of justice is a serious charge. Technically they are still serving it. But they are veterans, they know their ways around surveillance and all that, why do you think they chose to go to the illusions track? So yeah, it was their turn to be mad. Their plan was to leak my diary on school, to make me lighten up somehow, not take things too seriously, whatever that means. Well… Luz probably told you how that went down. Now we can see eye to eye though, because of that, because of what Luz told them that night. It was a shock to them, I think. The three of us talked that night, we talked a lot that night. Turns out we all truly are those two’s children. Turns out their stories weren’t that different from mine. They just knew better than me how to do stuff in a way those two wouldn’t notice. The impossible even happened that night. They apologized, and something even more unlikely: I forgave them. We felt like family for the first time in… ever, I guess. It was the first time the words mittens didn’t sound just like mockery. One of the things they told me, about the hair, was that they would do that sort of stuff with them, both mother and father. It was with extra-credits though: Ed wanted ballet, Em wanted wrestling. Ed took up wrestling, Em took up ballet. They lucked out, they could teach each other in the wee hours. There was other stuff too, but that’s what I can remember off the top of my head.”
“Amity, your siblings sound lovely, and they seemed really nice when they came here the other day, and that day at the knee. But I don’t see how this has anything to do with your hair.”
“Honestly, I’m not sure myself. But… I think what I’m trying to say is that our parents are building us, and they are very specific about every single detail. Little miss perfect. Now that I think of it that nickname fits like a glove. The three of us really. Perfection was always the lowest bar acceptable to all three of us. No diversions, only perfection, only then we would be worthy of the Blight name. We didn’t ever really know what that perfection word meant, only mother and father could tell. And, well. My hair… It just so happens that this was the biggest flaw, the biggest and most glaring imperfection.”
Amity lifted her hand, she didn’t tuck in an lose strands of green this time. She just pointed her finger at the creeping light shade of brown. The line between kin and strangers laid so blurred.
“You were born with that, they are the ones who gave it to you. Is this how you see it? I mean, that, on your roots. That looks a lot like Al’s color, from what I remember. Is this the word you would describe it with?”
“Of course not, but it isn’t like that ever mattered. And yes, I did get my hair from him. But then again, he took up the name, not the other way around. He is the outsider, mother doesn’t say that out loud, but I’m sure that’s how she feels. You know, I think there are days they don’t even see each other. With all that you told me about them, he sounded so eager to take up the name. You said he was ambitious, right? Anyway. Dying my hair now, after all we talked about tonight, it just sounds like her way of showing me how thin the blightness sheet of ice I always stood on has been all along. I have at least that in common with father, I suppose, this kinship, if nothing else. I actually think that’s why I decided to follow his path with the abominations, even if I wouldn’t put in these words back then the way I’m doing right now. But then again, I guess that if dying my hair is what I need to do in order to be a Blight, I always thought that’d be worth it.”
“What do you mean?”
“Like, he’s the outsider, I’m not a Blight all the time. It felt right to follow his track. At least that’s what I thought. I always thought I looked more like him than her. I suppose she would agree.”
“I’m not so sure about that. You have his hair, his eyes. But I also see a lot of Odalia in you. Yup. You really are your mother’s daughter. Physical appearance and personality alike.”
“Wha-What do you mean by that?”
“I mean what I mean, and we both know you are clever enough to know what that is. I mean that at end of the day, you are still a member of the Blight family. There’s no changing that, at least not yet.”
“Really? I… thought I was managing to change any bad first impressions gave you, but...”
“But you did. Look at me, Amity. You did. And I don’t just mean that because of tonight. Honestly, I’ve have a hunch you were not a bad person since that day at the knee. Your siblings too actually. But that doesn’t mean you’re good either, but you have all the time you need to walk down that particular rocky road. You and I both know what your parents are like, what they are capable of. But the fact of the matter is, this is who you are, for now. You were raised by Odalia and Alador. And for good or for worse, mostly worse, they are a big part of who you are right now. You are a Blight. But, I’ve seen with my own eyes you take first few steps to go past the Blight. This is why I’m being so insistent on telling you that you absolutely need to make amends with Willow. As a matter of fact, I believe you should apologize for trying to murder Hooty, and bake King a few indemnisation cupcakes. I mean, you’ll probably be visiting more often so it would be better for you to change the bad first impression you did give the two of them. Trust me. Anyway, getting off track. Let’s make a little mental experiment. Shouldn’t be too hard for you, but imagine you marry Luz and become a Noceda. Hey, Hey, Hey. Focus, Amity. This is important, get your feet back on the ground. Now, sure, you’d not have people calling you Blight anymore, but that part of your past would still be there. That won’t just disappear with the name. The name on its own means nothing, but the past associated with it means everything. You have to choose, really choose not to be a Blight anymore. Assuming that’s even possible, that is. At the very least you can more Amity than Blight though. Really fixing things with Willow, making sure you’ll never do anything even remotely like that, willingly becoming a better person. Moving over being a Blight passes through all that for you, it won’t just come out of nothing. It depends on you. Tell me, if I were to give you a room in this house, tell you don’t need to go back to the manor ever again, would you dye your hair back to its natural color?”
Amity’s eyes grew wide. Eda’s grew morose.
“Would you really?”
This had little to do with Luz. Amity and Eda both knew it.
“I’m sorry, kiddo. I really am. But I can’t do that, this is just a hypothetical scenario. Honestly, when I saw that you and Luz were becoming friends I just knew you couldn’t be like Odalia and Alador, that you weren’t too far gone yet. That you at the very least were trying to be a good person… Well, I started running some scenarios in my head. Contingency plans, if you will. Should push come to shove, I could try and act on it. That was when I still had my magic. But even then, I don’t think it would work out. Petty theft, wild magic, that’s one thing. Abducting a kid, a blue blood at that… That’s something entirely different. All those scenarios ended with you getting sent off to one of those boarding schools they have at the left shoulder. And you need to keep it in mind, Luz is not from this realm. If she ever decides and manages to go back to her home neither of us will have any right to fault her, to try to stop her. If that happens, odds are you’ll never see her again. And I doubt you would like that, would you?”
“No… No, I wouldn’t.”
“Yeah… But hey, for what it counts. You and your siblings are welcome here anytime. And I do mean anytime, if you come knocking at four in the morning the doors will be open for you, and a cup of chamomile ready to go. And if you really need it, if you’re really fearing for your safety or something like that, at least I can promise you to put up a hell of a fight. Your father won’t be seeing my back this time around. And I’ll even drag Lily into it. I can also try to help you plan to leave that place as soon as possible. Beyond that... I’m really sorry, Amity, but my hands are tied.”
“I… That’s ok… Thank you… Really.”
“Don’t mention it.”
She didn’t meet Amity’s eyes. Trying to put up a front, she continued.
“Now, moving on. Who is this brown haired girl you seem to like so much?”
“She’s… a lot like Luz, or the Luz I see at least… Or maybe just like what I remember from when I was still friends with Willow. I don’t know which one, maybe she’s both, probably someone else entirely.  I don’t know who she is, I never met her. But I think about her a lot. I like her more than this green haired Blight girl. I think… I think that’s all I can tell you about her. Its like you said, at the end of the day, she’ll be a Blight and there’s I can do about it.”
“I’ve never said  that.”
“What?”
“I’ve never said that. All I said is that you are a Blight, and that you have time on your side. That’s not the same as saying that that’s all you’ll ever be. Didn’t Luz show you proof that what you’re saying just isn’t true? But yeah… This girl you just described, I don’t know if she will ever exist. Because even if you don’t think so, to me it sounds like she never really was a Blight, she never had to make the choices a Blight needs to make on a daily basis. In this sense she really is a lot like Luz. I’m not discouraging you from trying to be her though. She sounds lovely. She really does. You should aim for her, in my opinion. But don’t expect to become her. If anything, I can picture an Amity with brown hair and green roots.”
“What if I chose wrong?”
“Aren’t you used to it by now?”
“Ouch, you really are brutal, aren’t you?”
“Heh, sorry. But I mean it. Aren’t you? Wouldn’t you do exactly what you’ve been doing? Try and fix it?”
“I guess.”
“So, what’s stopping from asking Luz out? A proper date, that is.”
“Because if rejects me, she’ll be rejecting both my brown and my green hair. I can take it if she rejects the green... The other one… that’s a different story.”
“Ahh… Finally.”
Eda smiled as she saw her goals accomplished, Amity couldn’t help but to do the same. Her hair, falling over her face didn’t call for the same hiding anymore, however. Eda just looked at her, their different eyes sharing the familiarity absent before. She felt though she had, in a sense, just been defeated. For someone as competitive as her that should be a terrible emotion, but with a chuckle Amity continued.
“Heh… I’ve actually been postponing mother and daughter time, letting my natural color show, on purpose. I was doing that even before Luz showed up, but as the feelings grew, my feelings, no one else’s, it was only more reason for me not to want it dyed. Mother has been relentless about it. But I’m liking the way it is now. I don’t think its perfect. But maybe its better this way. I didn’t want Luz to know me just with this green, if she rejects me now, she’ll be reject both the colors. But yeah… Looks like you cracked me, finally.”
“Maybe it is. Look, Amity. I’m not telling you to go for it. You are wanting to ask my daughter out after all, and I shouldn’t get more involved than I already am. So all I’m going to say is just my own personal opinion. As far as I’m concerned, you’re a good kid. I didn’t ask all of that because I’m vetting you or anything like that. Well, not only that at least. But the main thing for me is that I just can’t bare to watch someone who has so many possible roads ahead stick to one she didn’t even choose herself, not after I learned how to be a mother. Not since Luz taught me that. And if this fear of her rejecting the same parts of you that your family rejected is what’s keeping you from acting on what you really want. Well, that just doesn’t seem fair to me. And you never know. I mean, I don’t think Luz ever had someone confessing their feelings to her, odds are her standards aren’t really all that high. I don’t know why she’d say no.”
Amity laughed, she had just been insulted but she just laughed. She should have been mortified, but she just laughed. Eda had once more made her laugh at herself. She felt vulnerable, as vulnerable as the sleeping Luz upstairs, but as long as she was in this home she felt as though no harm would ever come to her. She couldn’t explain this feeling, nor could she find it in her to avoid it.
“Well, that’s a pretty harsh way of putting it.”
Chuckling, Eda responds.
“You’re welcome. But you know, there’s another reason why I’m saying that. Remember that story I told you? That one about me, my sister, your parents. Well, I see a bit of everyone there in you. You have this strange shrewdness, bordering on cruelty sometimes. That’s Odalia’s. You have something about the way you talk, the way you carry yourself, even this mostly unvoiced self-depreciation. Alador was a lot like that when we were kids. You are gullible, you can just go with the motions set by others, like my sister. But you don’t want that, you want something else, you are taking your time sorting things out. That’s what I see of myself in you. But you know in who I don’t see anything of anyone in that story? Luz. She’s not exactly trying to replace her reality with a better one. Granted, I don’t know exactly why she chose to stay here and not go back to her world, I suspect there was something very much amiss in her life there. But whenever she talks about that place its not really with resentment. At least that’s how it feels like to me. She really is the wild card. If she had been there when all of that was happening, even if in the sidelines, most likely the stories of the four of us have been a lot different. What I’m trying to say is that all you have for trying to predict how she’d respond is the way she’s treated you so far. I’ll let you sleep on that. But for what it counts, and I’ll cut your tongue if you ever tell her I said this, I’m rooting for you. She deserves someone who cares about her. And tonight you convinced me that’s the case with you, you hit the last nail on that question.”
“You really think so?”
“I do, Amity. I do… Look, as far as I’m concerned, you, Willow, Gus. You’re all part of the Owl family, now. You care about Luz, she cares about the lot of you, that’s really all I could ask for. By the way, wednesday is Monopoly night.
“Monopoly?”
“Yeah, I don’t know. Its this game she found in the human garbage the other day. Kinda boring if you ask me. Just a heads up” Her expression suddenly grew dark. “Luz can get… Pretty intense… Now...”
Standing up, Eda left out a yawn, a clearly forced one, a hand covering her mouth, the other thrown way behind her back as if stretching. Of Eda’s many talents, acting was not one. Placing a hand on Amity’s shoulder again, she proceeds.
“Its pretty late. And Luz wouldn’t stop going on and on about her plans for the two of you. You’ll need  some sleep, trust me. You have a big day ahead of you tomorrow. You can just leave those teacups there, I still have some reading to catch up to. I’ll wash it before I go to bed. Good night, kid.”

Internship Chapter 7: Day 2 - Amity
Author Note: I recognize that Odalia is probably not head of the abomination coven. I'm rolling with it anyway.
First Chapter Previous Chapter
________________________________________________________
When Amity told her siblings that school was quiet without them, she hadn’t been kidding. The halls were emptier, the cafeteria had more open seats, and the overall chaos level of the school was greatly diminished without their presence. It was a nice change.
Today was the second day of their absence and school had just ended for the day. Amity had put her books away and was currently walking towards the front of the school. She had a lot on her mind since the day before, after hearing about her siblings’ internships.
It had her wondering about her own future and what coven she might join after graduating from Hexside. What if she didn’t make the cut for the Emperor’s Coven? If she didn’t join the Emperor’s Coven, where would she go?
Those thoughts filled Amity’s mind as she neared the front of the school building. She was planning to visit the library, maybe do some reading in her hideout. At least, that was the plan until she saw Luz.
Her friend was wearing her usual school uniform, with the rainbow sleeves and leggings that designated her as being in every track. It was a cute look for her, though Amity didn’t have the nerve to tell her that.
She was walking ahead of Amity, on her way out of the school and bouncing a little with each step. She must’ve been happy or excited about something, which Amity loved to see. Wait, no, hated to see.
As if she felt Amity’s eyes on her, Luz turned to look her way. When their eyes met, a huge wonderful radiant smile spread across her face. Amity’s cheeks were warm as Luz lifted a hand to wave at her, changing course abruptly to walk her way.
“Amity!” Luz called out her name as she approached, a sound that always set Amity’s heart fluttering. “Are you doing anything after school?” She asked enthusiastically, the pair stopping a couple feet away from each other.
Solidifying her plans in her mind, Amity replied. “I’m thinking about doing some reading at the library.” After saying it, she wondered if she should invite Luz to join her. She wanted to invite Luz, wanted to hang out with her, but could she say it? Just the thought of doing it was warming her face and probably turning it red.
“Sound like fun.” Luz didn’t seem to notice, she just carried on with the conversation. “Eda is making this huuuge toxic potion at the Owl House, she told me to stay away or else.” Luz dropped her voice to imitate Eda for the last few words, then burst out laughing at her impression.
If Luz didn’t have anywhere to go that afternoon, that changed things. Amity didn’t need courage, not if Luz needed her!
“Would you uh,” She took it back, maybe Amity did need some of that courage. The way Luz’s brown eyes locked on hers wasn’t helping. “Like to come with me?”
If Luz’s smile could grow any larger it would’ve. “Absolutely! This’ll be so much fun!” She bounced slightly on the balls of her feet, even as she stood still. “There are so many books I haven’t read yet.”
“Do you have one in mind?” Amity was curious what Luz had been reading about. She was interested in the strangest things sometimes.
“Hmm.” Luz thought about it for a moment, then grinned. “Nope!”
Amity smiled at that, it was so typical of her but somehow still so charming. “I’ve been wondering,” Amity said, changing the topic to what had been on her mind for the last day. “What coven are you going to join?”
“Hmmmmmm.” Luz brought one hand up to her chin, thinking for even longer than before. Her eyebrows were scrunched together. To be fair, it was a much harder question. “I can’t decide, they’re all so cool.” She finally said, bringing her hands together in emphasis.
“That’s true,” Amity couldn’t help but smile for a moment, before her concerns about the Emperor’s Coven resurfaced in her mind. “I ask because, well, I’ve been thinking about it lately, which coven I want to join.”
“Have you picked one?” Luz asked, tilting her head slightly with the question.
Amity shook her head, “That’s the thing. I always thought I would join the Emperor’s Coven, but now I’m not sure. With everything that’s been going on, and with Em not making the cut, I don’t know anymore.” It felt strange to admit it, that she might not join the Emperor’s Coven. Now that she had said it, it felt more real than before. It had been her dream for so many years, to admit it might not happen felt like conceding a loss.
Luz was still looking right at her, eyes glimmering with ideas. “There are lots of other choices!” She stepped closer as she spoke, her voice louder than before. “Like abominations, or the other covens.”
“Abominations is an option.” It wasn’t ideal though, especially since her mother was head of the coven. She didn’t want to share that detail with Luz; it didn’t feel necessary. “But I don’t know what working there is like.” She had never asked her mother, since she never felt the desire to and never felt like she would get a meaningful answer if she did.
“We can totally find out.” Luz reached forward abruptly, taking Amity’s hand in her own. Amity’s face grew hot at the contact, a now familiar feeling, and she couldn’t find the words to protest. “I know just who to ask.”
Luz’s grip was firm as she started walking back into the school, practically dragging Amity behind her. After a few steps Amity was able to gain her footing and follow along, but Luz didn’t relinquish her hand. It was almost like they were holding hands, but not quite. Either way her heart was pounding out of control.
They walked down a couple hallways before reaching a wing of the school Amity knew well. It was the abomination classrooms, where she spent many hours of her days. They stopped in front of one of the classrooms, where Luz released Amity’s hand.
Amity looked down at her now empty hand while Luz poked her head into one of the classrooms. She seemed to find what she was looking for, since she then entered the room. Amity could hear her faintly from the hallway saying, “Hi Mr. Abomination Professor!”
Amity quickly entered the room as well, finding Luz talking with the abomination teacher. He was being held by an abomination as usual and appeared to have been half way through writing something on the board when Luz interrupted him.
“Good afternoon Luz, Amity.” He acknowledged both of them in turn, nodding in their directions. “What can I do for you?” He put his chalk down on the black board ledge.
“I have a question.” Luz raised her hand as if waiting to be called on. When he gestured in her direction, a bemused smile on his face, she continued. “What is it like working for the abomination coven?”
“I’m surprised to hear that question from the two of you.” He replied, having his abomination carry him away from the whiteboard and closer to the two of them. Amity knew he meant because of her mother and because her years in the abomination track, but she was still curious about what he would say. “I’ll still answer it of course.”
“Thank you!” Luz exclaimed, beaming. Amity nodded her thanks as well.
“The abomination coven places witches in a variety of jobs.” The abomination teacher went back to the board, picking up his chalk. He started to write a list on the board. “They primarily work in fighting roles. This includes assisting the Emperor’s Coven, performative fighting, and other supporting positions.”
“Performative fighting?” Luz’s eyes were sparkling, like she was imagining something. “Like abomination sumo?” What was sumo? Amity had never heard of that.
“I don’t know what that is.” The abomination teacher chuckled. “But there is a professional abomination wrestling ring, which might be similar. They host matches, all between coven members. It’s the last week of the season.”
“Ooh.” Luz turned to Amity. “We have to go to one.” She looked so excited and eager.
Amity couldn’t say no to her. “I’ll try to get tickets.” She wanted to go too, to see what it was like.
“Yes!” Luz pumped her fist once. “I’m so excited!” Then she seemed to remember where she was, and turned back to the abomination teacher. “Thanks for helping us.”
He smiled broadly. “You are very welcome. Run along now, go enjoy your afternoon.”
“See you tomorrow.” Amity said while Luz waved, the pair moving towards the door. A moment later and they had left, shutting the classroom door behind them.
“We should look for books about abomination wrestling at the library.” Luz said as they started walking back towards the front of the school. “I’m so curious, how do they wrestle?”
“There are probably books on that.” Amity had seen many books for each of the major covens around the library.
Luz wasn’t prepared to drop the topic yet. “I bet they’re like,” she raised her arms up in front of her, and made the exaggerated zombie face she’d been using when they first met. “blaaaah!”
Amity giggled, she couldn’t help it. Luz was too funny for her own good. When she regained her composure, she looked back at Luz. She had a small smile on her face and had been watching Amity laugh. Amity fought off a blush, pulling her eyes away to focus on walking straight.
They soon reached the front of the school and left to go to the library.
At the library, Luz was able to find many books about abomination wrestling, but none of them had pictures. She would have to wait to see what it was like.
Amity knew where the tickets were sold, she would probably even get a discount. She would go later to buy some. Hopefully they wouldn’t be sold out.
For now though, she enjoyed her time with Luz.

if you had to choose.
For as long as Amity could remember she followed the rules and expectations her parents had set for her. One of them was she could be seen with those who are not approved by her parents, which were most people in her school. For a long time, she was exempted that this was her life. That was until she meets Luz Noceda. At first, Luz annoyed Amity a lot but as time went now Amitys feeling toward Luz started to change in ways she didn’t expect. It wasn’t long before she started disobeying her parents. They didn’t notice at first but as time went on they started to pay more and more attention to what their daughter was doing and how much time she spends out of the house. They noticed a change in attitude and that she seemed to go to and come back from school happier. They even know that her grades have gotten a little worst. “What do you think it is?” Odalia asked her husband at dinner. It was one of the dinners where Amity was not at because of homework. “I don’t know, maybe she’s just stressed because of her exams.” there was a moment of silence and then Edrick started to hold back laughter. His attempt failed and Emara started laughing too, almost like they thought the conversation was a joke. “What wrong with you?” “Nothing.” they both said quickly “Maybe we should take a break from the isles,” Odalia told her husband. “It might help get Amitys grades back up.” the twins looked at each other and with a stare that they had mastered. Just then Amity had come down the stairs of their mansion wanting to know what was going on. “Amity,” Alabor said with a smile. “Come and sit we have to talk.” “Yes?” Amity had asked her family. “We were just talking about taking a vacation for the rest of the semester.” odalia told Amity who know was looking down. “Well I’m-I’m not sure i still have school to think about.” she argued back to her parents. “We can get you a tutor, it’ll be fun.” odalia argued back in a more aggressive tone then before. “... but i’m tutoring someone and i’m not sure how lange they’ll be able to be here so i really shouldn’t go.” Amity told her mother trying to argue with her. “Theyll still be here when we get back.” odalia told amity. “But theyre might not be here after the semester-” “No amity were going on a vaction thats final.” odalia argued with amity. The rest of dinner was quite and boring for evertone but amity. She had to much on her mind to actually stay focused. When dinner finally ended she went upstairs and locked her door so she could sneck out and see luz like she usually did everyother night. She made a rope of clothes and walked into the forest, trying to fix together the right words to tell luz.
“So that’s it… nothing else?” luz asked trying to hold back her tears. “Luz I’m sorry but I can’t disobey them you know how they’re like,” Amity said back to Luz trying to argue with her. Amity stud and tried to walk away but luz grabbed her hand, “tell me you don’t want to leave me, Amity.” “You know I can’t do that Luz.” Amity stepped back, trying to back away from Luz. this was already the hardest thing she had to do. If she said this she wouldn’t be able to hold back the tears she was holding back. “Goodbye, luz.” that was the last thing she had said to Luz. ________________Time skip________________ It had been several days since what she thought of as the worst day in her life. Her eyes were red from crying. It was the last day before she leaves hexside. She had tried her best to keep to her studies and not talk to many people so they didn’t have to ask what’s going wrong with her. She didn’t want anyone to even talk to her or to even look at her. She opened her locker and inside there was a small pink piece of folded paper, it looked somewhat familiar. She opened it and there was a small note, ‘meet me at our tree, yours luz.’ she looked around the other lockers but there was no one around her and then the bell screamed and she realized that there was no way she could make it to her classes in time. She put the paper in her pocket, got her books, and ran down the hall. The rest of the day was slow and when she went over to her house she didn’t want to look as if the underworld was a person. She washed her face and put on a more comfortable dress and pants. By the time she was ready to leave she know her parents were getting ready to go so she needed to be quick. She ran down the stair, trying her best not to get caught, and ran down the dirt road. When she got to the tree the petals were glowing a bright color of pink. She looked over the cliff that was next to the grom tree. She felt a pair of hands cover her eyes, she elbowed the person’s stomach and she heard a familiar voice whine. “Luz?” Amity turned and saw the one and only Luz Noceda. “Sorry, I didn’t see you.” “It’s ok, don’t worry.” she held her stomach and tried to smile. “I wanted to ask you something tho.” “What would that be?” amity asked, looking at luz for an answer. “I knew that you can’t get out of this ‘vacation’,” luz looked towards the cliff and took a pause, and sat down, before continuing. “But if you had the choice to go or stay, which one would you do?” “I would stay.” Amity didn’t even hesitate with this question, since it was the only question she had thought about for the past few days. “Why?” Luz asked, turning to her. “In my opinion, I think it's more important to find people who understand and like me for me than to be surrounded by people that try to change you, but then again you can’t choose your family,” Amity answered her with a weak. “I want to show you something,” Luz said getting up and taking Amity by the hand. After a few minutes of walking the two girls ended up in a brightly lighted soft pink and purple fairy light forest. Amity looked around the forest and looked back at luz, who was now on her knee with a small pink ring. “Amity will you marry me?” “No,” Amity answered luz. “Luz we’re 14, we've been dating for like 3 weeks, we’re not even legally old enough to get jobs and work.” Luz tried to protest but quickly realized she didn’t think this throw. Amity giggled and helped luz up. “Luz, I’m sorry this didn’t go the way you expected but I do think we should talk about this stuff when I get back tho. Luz, I want to say something to you.” “Yes?” “Luz, I love you.” “I love you too, Amity.”

This is a continuation of my Huntmira Week 2021 story Masquerade.
Huntmira: After Chapter 1
“Can you believe how many deals we closed tonight! This was the single most profitable evening we’ve ever had!” declared Odalia as she swung open the doors to blight manor catching Amity by surprise who happens to be passing by.
“Ah! Amity good you’re awake! Come join us, we are going to celebrate!”
“Uhh you’re in a good mood mother, did something good happen at the party?” asked Amity hesitantly as she looked at her siblings for some sort of clue to what was going on. Instead she was left more confused seeing a giant goofy grin on her brother’s face and standing next to him was her sister. “Wait, why is she blushing?” thought Amity to herself.
“Glad you asked, '' responded her mother with a giant grin on her face that stretched from ear to ear. Amity could not recall when was the last time she had seen her mother so incredibly happy.
“Your sister just made Blight industries a lot of money and all it took was just one dance.”
Amity took a look at Emira’s whos face and ears were now completely red. Ed on the other hand looked like he was going to burst out laughing at Emira’s distress.
“One dance? How?” asked Amity hesitantly
“You should have seen it,” started Odalia as her husband silently made his way to get a bottle of champagne to celebrate. “Emira dancing with the Golden Guard.” beamed Odalia
“Wait? What? The Golden Guard?” asked Amity in disbelief as she recalled her encounter with the boy only a few days before.  She once again looked at her siblings for answers especially at Em who was now the deepest shade of red she had ever seen and Ed next to her doubled over trying his best to suppress his laughter.
She had not told her siblings about the fight she had with Hunter in the Titans Vaines. They had both been in a really low mood that week and she did not want to upset them further. She wasn’t sure what had happened between them but that was the first time she had seen them fight.
“Yes, it was a memorable event. Everyone at the party had their eyes on them. Your sister was as cool as a cucumber but that boy never had a chance. Oh and at the end of the dance she gave him a kiss on his helmet and I kid you not you could see how his legs turned to jelly. It took him a moment to gather his bearings but after that nobody saw him for the rest of the night. It was wonderful.” bragged Odalia “For the rest of the night your father and I were completely swamped by people that wanted to do business with Blight industries. It was a great success. This is exactly what I mean when I say mingle '' she noted as she took a glass of champagne that Alador was offering her.
“You know I’m pretty tired. Is it ok if I go to my room?” stuttered Emira who was covering her face with her hands.
“Oh yes of course it is pretty late. You kids go to bed and we’ll do something to celebrate tomorrow.” she said as she clinked her glass to her husbands.
Emira quickly headed upstairs followed by her siblings not far behind. She threw herself on her bed using the pillows to try and hide her face as she heard Amity and Ed come inside before closing the door behind them.
“Em, did you really dance with the Golden Guard?” asked Amity, still not wanting to believe what her mother said.
“That’s not all she did,” snickered Edric but was caught off by the pillow that hit his face.
“Em?” asked Amity who was beginning to feel more and more uncomfortable with the situation.
Emira let out a long sigh before sitting up on her bed and facing her younger sister. "That day Ed went out on his date I decided to go out on my own. I ended up at the library which is where I met a boy. We started hanging out regularly and ended up becoming really close."
"Turns out the boy she's been seeing in secret is the Golden Guard!" shouted Edric, no longer able to contain his excitement.
"Ed" fumed Emria
"Wait, you're dating Hunter?" question Amity completely taken off guard by the information her siblings had just shared with her.
"You know Hunter?" asked Ed, who was hiding from his twin behind the pillow she had thrown at him.
"Yeah apparently they had a run in during the time Hunter and I weren't talking. He also mentioned he met Luz." noted Emira.
"He...he told you about that? Wait, why weren't you guys talking? I thought you were close.?” probed Amity.
“He did, and his duties as the Golden Guard got in the way. Or should I say Luz, Eda, and you got in the way.” stated Emira in a very serious tone.
“Wat do you mean?” questioned Edric looking between his two sisters.
“Wait Em up you don’t understand  I don’t know what he told you but he’s not a good gu..”
“No Amity you don’t understand,” cut in Emira in a cold tone that sent shivers down her siblings' spines. When Emira got angry she really did take after their mother.
“Em I…”
“Tell me Amity, did you or your friends ever stop to think there were consequences to your actions? Did you ever consider that as the Golden Guard Hunter was following direct orders from Emperor Belos?” questioned Emira who although on the looked to be completely calm  her eyes showed the furry she was feeling.
“. . .I” stutere Amity unable to come up with a response for her sister. She was still having a hard time wrapping her mind on the fact that she was close to Hunter. She never even imagined she would be scolded for trying to help Luz.
“Of course you didn’t. Please Amity, I want you to stop and think how fast Emperor Belos turned on your teacher. What he wanted to do to Eda for not falling in line. Did you ever consider what would happen to someone who failed to follow his orders?” asked Emira whose eyes now showed sadness and concern.
Amity stopped and thought of how Hunter had started digging his own grave once he found there was no titan blood and therefore had failed his mission. Everything he said while they were together. The last words that he said to her. She hadn’t even stopped to think that there was real danger for him. While Amity had been fighting to impress Luz, Hunter had been fighting for his life.
“He’s not a bad guy,” mumbled Emira with pain in her words.
“Em I’m sorry,” lamented Amity as she went to give her sister a hug. Way to go Amity you finally start getting along with your siblings and you go and insult your sister’s first crush.
“It’s ok I just want you to keep in mind that when you get involved in things like this it can have effects on other people. Not just Hunter but everyone in the family.”
“Um.. sorry to break up the moment but it looks like we have a visitor” said Edric as he pointed to a small red bird standing on the window sill looking at them intently.
“Hey that’s Hunter’s,” Amity did not get to finish.
“Ok you guys time for bed see you tomorrow bye” blurted Emira while pushing her siblings out of her room. She hoped that neither of them had noticed the little palisman had a letter tied to his foot.

Huntmira Week 2021 Day 4: Human AU
Tumblr media
“Hey you’re the new transfer student right? My name is Amity and as your class rep I’ll be giving you a tour of the school. Follow me and don’t fall behind. We have a schedule to keep and we are already running late.” said the cotton candy haired girl as she started walking briskly away. “Come on I wasn’t kidding I will leave you behind if you don’t hurry.”
“Alright so you already know where the office is. If you get in any trouble this is where they’ll bring you. Down that hallway over there is the school library which you have access to at any time during school hours. Come on, we're already running behind schedule so we don’t have time to see it.” she stated as she continued walking forward at a fast pace.
“Now the school is essentially divided into four parts each of which is assigned to a different grade level. Essentially it is meant to give students more time in between classes so they can get whatever materials they need from their lockers. Speaking of which, this one is yours.” she noted as she came to a sudden stop. “The number and the combination are on the welcome packet you received at the front desk. As you may have assumed already this is the freshman hallway apart from electives all of your other classes will  be here. Any questions? No? Good. Let’s keep moving.” without so much as a pause she turned on her heels and started moving at the same brisk pace.
“The hallway to your left leads to the juniors hall and the sophomore hall was the first hallway to your left when you entered the school. As for the senior hall that would be the separate building at the back of the school. The cafeteria is right at the center of the school and it also doubles as a social area. And this is the gym.” she stated as they reached a large oval shaped building separated from the rest of the school. “Hopefully nobody notices we are late” grumbled Amity under her breath as she opened the door.
As soon as the door opened a roar of cheers washed over the pair as they entered the building. The gymnasium was filled with the entirety of the student body who appeared to be completely enthralled by whatever the captain of the girl’s basketball team was saying. She along with the rest of the basketball team were standing at the center of the gym with the school principal standing a few feet to the side beaming with pride.
Amity ignored them completely as she tried to make out where her friends were in the stands. Without saying a word she tugged on the transfer student’s sleeve to get them to follow her.
“Hey Amity, you made it. Oh is this the new transfer student” whispered Willow as Amity took the empty seat behind her. “Yeah sorry we’re late I had to give them a quick tour before coming here.” grumbled Amity as she thought about how late they were.
“Oh don’t mind Amity she can be a bit grumpy in the mornings . . . and afternoons. I’m Willow by the way” she said in a cheery voice. “I’m Gus! Your family just moved to Gravesfield right? said the young man sitting next to Willow. “You’re going to need someone to give you a run down of what you need to know abouts Gravesfield. But never fear Gus is here.” Boasted the youth before proceeding to give the transfer student a rundown.
“The first thing to know is that Gravesfield athletes are mini celebrities in town. If there is one thing Gravesfield High is known for it would be our sports teams. And because there is only one high school everyone in town gets pretty into it.” explained Gus with excitement but before he could continue the school principal called for everyone's attention the gymnasium became quiet.
“Now that we have heard from our athletes who will be representing our school out in the field it is time to hear from our student council.”exclaimed principal Bump as a small group of students made their way to the center of the gymnasium.
Rather than applauding the student body stayed quiet as the youths continued to make their way to the center. There were only three of them but their presence  alone commanded the attention of every individual in the gymnasium.
“Oh boy” mumbled Amity too herself as she saw her two siblings take center stage along with their best friend hunter.
The three stood in a line facing the other students with Hunter in the middle with Edrick to his left and Emira to his right. The tension in the gymnasium had started to increase when without raising his voice Edric said “Hey” giving the students a sly smile. Without any warning the entire gym burst into a cacophony of cheers. Which only intensified when Emira gave them a wink.
“They really are popular aren’t days,” noted Willow as she looked at Amity who was trying to shrink into herself from embarrassment.
“This must be really weird for you to see huh?” shouted Gus  over the crowd to the transfer student. “ Yeah, if the athletes are celebrities then the members of the student council are royalty.” said Gus before pausing for dramatic effect.
“The twins are Edric and Emira Blight. Edric is the treasurer and Emira is the vice president. They are on the top of their class, always the leads in any school play, and probably the most charismatic people you’ll ever meet. Also if that name sounds familiar it’s because more than likely your parents bought your new home from their mom Odalia Blight. She is the most well known real estate agent in the area. Not only that but their family also owns a security company. You might have seen some homes with a sign that says “protected by Blight security."
"Some? Don't you mean all? Every building in Gravesfield uses Blight security. And aren't you forgetting one very important Blight?" Added Willow as she nudged her head towards Amity.
"Oh right Amity is also a Blight and she has the top spot in the freshman class she's als…"
"That's ok no need for my resume " Interrupted Amity with a face that shows equal amounts of annoyance and embarrassment.
"Suit yourself " shrugged Gus. "Anyway the blond guy between the twins is the school president Hunter Wittebane. If he looks familiar it's because he's on all the promotional posters with his uncle Mayor Belos. He is the most influential man in Gravesfield and Hunter will definitely follow in his uncle's footsteps. He is the captain of all the boys sports teams as well as the debate club, book club, and history club. Honestly he’s a very intimidating guy if you think about it.” mused Gus.
“You know there’s a lot of rumors of how he became school president during his freshman year. They don’t normally allow freshmen to run.” puzzled Willow not asking anyone in particular but was loud enough for other students to hear and joined in the conversation.
“I heard his uncle threaten the school” said a girl sitting in the row under theirs.
“I heard the twins charmed the school principal to let him run,” said the girl next to her.
“I heard a rumor that people added his name to the ballot when they heard he was dating one of the twins.” said a boy from somewhere above them.
“I heard he was dating both” shouted someone else from a distance.
“Silence,” a commanding voice rang through the gymnasium as all the students fell quiet. Hunter had stepped up to the mic and was now scowling the students in front of him.
“Thank you,” he said in an almost gloating tone with a smug smile on his face.
“It's good to see that everyone is so excited about school.” whispered Emira giving Hunter a sly smile causing him to roll his eyes.
“As you all know we are the current members of the student council. We are here to let you know elections will be coming up soon and we encourage anyone interested to go run for a position in the student council. Just know that we will also be running to keep our positions. Now if you excuse us we have work to do.” boasted Hunter before turning on his heels and making his way out of the gym.
The twins waved goodbye to the crowd causing the gymnasium to erupt into a fit of cheers which could be heard even after they had left the gymnasium.
"Do you two always have to be so extra?" Mumbled Hunter as he walked down the hallway.
"Oh don’t be like that Hunny" said Edric as he put an arm around Hunter and gave him a flirtatious smile.
"Yeah it's not our fault that the crowd loves us." chimed in Emira as she clinged to Hunter’s arm.
“Yeah right and don’t call me Hunny” scoffed Hunter who by now should be used to the twins' shenanigans but they always found new ways to annoy him.
Both twins let go of Hunter at the same time and let out a gasp as they feigned being shocked. “But you used to love us calling you Hunny” Groaned Edric while pretending to cover some tears.
“Our little Hunny is growing up. He's embarrassed of us now.” said Emira as she mimiqued her brother’s reaction.
Hunter let out a long sigh as he looked at his best friends pretending to cry. Even knowing there were no tears there he just could not bear the thought of upsetting them. These two had been his best friends, his only real friends since pre school. Because his uncle was such a powerful and influential man many people tried approaching Hunter as a means of getting close to his uncle. He understood that the twins felt the same because of how often people approached them for their families business connections and wealth. Then there were those who were too scared to approach any of them because they found them intimidating or just out of reach.
They had never cared about who his uncle was just as he did not care about their families business.  He just couldn’t imagine what his life would be like if they hadn't approached him on their first day of pre-school.
The twins had stopped pretending to cry once they saw the expression on Hunter’s face. “Hey you ok?” asked Emira, genuinely concerned as she approached Hunter.
“If it bothers you that much we’ll stop” sniffled Edric as real tears were threatening to break through.
Hunter looked at the pair and could not help himself from smiling appone seeing their grief stricken faces. These were his favorite people in the world just as they were the most annoying.
“I hate you guys.” said Hunter with a smirk.
To this both twins lit up and latched on to either one of his arms as they continued walking down the hallway before saying in  unison “Aww we love you too Hunny.”
“Stop calling me that” demanded Hunter as he let himself be pulled away by the two.

Huntmira Week Day 5/6/7: Masquerade/First Kiss/Favorite Headcanon
Intro
“Welcome one and all to the Emperor’s Coven celebration of the fast approaching day of unity! Emperor Bolos has graciously opened his home to all of you for a masquerade ball! Now come in and celebrate with us!”
Once the announcer's speech was over the gates to the Emperor’s Coven were open to the select few that had been invited to the ball. Only the most high tear residents of the Boiling Isles had been granted the honor of attending the event.
“Alright you three I want everyone to be on their best behavior, only the most elite were invited to this event so we should take advantage of this opportunity to make new connections.¨ said Odalia as she scanned the room for potential targets. ¨These masks will make things a bit more difficult but itś nothing we can't handle.¨
“You two know what you need to do right?” asked Odalia while holding on to her husband's arm to keep him from running off on his own. The man is a genius when it comes to inventing new products but he needs a bit of help when it comes to socializing. A skill that is essential to growing their business.
“Yes mother” responded the twins in unison giving her their best smiles.
“Good now go mingle” she said as she started pulling her husband along with her towards an unsuspecting group of potential clients.
While their younger sister was charged with testing and showing off Blight industry products the twins were tasked with being the faces of the company. They were meant to one day take over their mother's role as promoters of the family business. She knew that the twins were more than capable at speaking with clients and investors which is why she always kept them on the forefront during social events. They were naturally charismatic and had inherited her quick witts. One day they would be the ones running the company so it was important they build strong business relations.
Twins
“So what do you think?” asked Edric as he squinted in an attempt to survey the room. He needed glasses but he never wore them in front of others. The only times he used them was when he was home alone doing homework.
They were already drawing a lot of attention. Though this was intentional Odalia liked for all of them to stand out in these types of events. Making a lasting impression was good for business.
Emira was wearing a big beautiful off the shoulder golden gown with emerald detailings with her hair done up in a bun wearing a mask that matched her dress. Edric who was standing next to her was wearing a suit similar in design to his sisters with a matching mask.  Even in a room filled with extravagant attire the two still stood out.
“You heard what mother said we have to mingle. See anyone we know?” responded Emira while she scanned the faces of the people starting to make their way to them.
“Nope I can’t tell who anyone is with all these flamboyant outfits. Want to just hit the obdurves table?”
“Amity is lucky she didn't have to come. She gets to hang out with her girlfriend while we get to mingle with business partners” mumbled Emira to herself.
“I see you’re mad you don’t get to see your boyfriend today” said Edric without thinking. Emira had still not fully forgiven him for ruining the first time she and Hunter met outside the library. “I mean uh yeah today is when you would normally go meet up with Hunter right?” he added in a panicked tone. The look on Emira’s face made him regret bringing up the subject.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve already told you we are just friends. Besides, we haven’t spoken since that day at the carnival.” noted Emira in a grim tone.
“I’m really sorry Em I really messed things up between you guys” apologized Edric feeling genuinely remorseful. Emira had helped him find a partner and he had ruined her relationship with the first boy she liked.
“Like I said there was never anything between us. Let’s just go, come on.” mumbled Emira as she started to make her way to the obvdorbes table with Edric quick behind her heels.
It was true there wasn't anything between her and the Hunter. They were just friends if you could call them that. Even though they had been spending a lot of time together for a few months now Emira was not sure how Hunter saw her. They had never spent any time together outside of the library. He never spoke about himself to her all Emira knew was that Hunter was raised by his uncle but he wouldn’t say more than that. Most of the time he acted like he didn’t want her there.
It was her own fault. She knew better. The number one rule that has been drilled into all three siblings is do not get attached. The moment you get attached to something you lose. But I had been sure it would be different with Hunter. It was different with him. They would spend the days they weren’t together sending messages to one another. Or at least they had until that day at the carnival. It had already been a week since then and Hunter had still not spoken to her. The only message he had sent her after the carnival just said one word.
“I know Ed blames himself and at first I blamed him too but I know it’s not his fault. I was the one that fantacied there was something there when there obviously wasn’t. Live and learn right? At least it ended before it started. I just wish he would have said something instead of just ghosting me. I thought that at the very least the time we had spent together would have earned me that much.  Who knows maybe I’ll meet someone here? One thing's for sure next time around I won’t be making the same mistake again.” thought Emira to herself as she kept moving forward.
Hunter
"She's pretty" noted Emperor Belos from his throne to Hunter who was standing next to him.
"Huh? Who?" Question Hunter puzzled by his uncle's words. He had never heard Emperor Belos refer to anyone as pretty or even note a person’s appearance. It somehow felt wrong coming from him, especially while he was wearing his mask.
"The girl you've been staring at all evening" teased Emperor Belos who was now looking directly at him.
Hunter had never been so happy to be wearing his helmet as it shielded his burning face from his uncle. "No I wasn't… I was scanning the room for threats… yeah threats'' sputtered Hunter as he panicked at the sudden accusation.  His uncle had no idea of the secret meetups he had been having with Emira over the past few months and Hunter prefered to keep it that way.
“Ah yes that young lady does certainly look very threatening.” mused Belos looking back in the direction of the. “ Is she? She’s the eldest Blight girl right? That’s her brother next to her. Hmmm looks like she doesn't have a date. You know you should ask her for a dance. That way you can put your suspicions to rest.”  said Belos as he leaned in towards Hunter so only he could hear him.
Although he knew it was impossible Hunter was afraid that his uncle was able to see how red his face had become through his mask or that he could hear the beating of his heart which sounded like drums playing to him. He was at a complete loss of words at his sudden brashness. “...I … no I have to stay close incase of trouble.” managed Hunter. Belos gave a light chuckle before putting a hand on Hunter’s shoulder and giving him a slight push forward. “Go have fun, this is a celebration after all. And don’t worry about me, I think I can manage without you for the duration of a dance or two.” he jested in a warm tone.
Hunter stumbled forward before taking a look back at his uncle who was gesturing for him to go. This was not like him at all although they had never been in a situation where Hunter could actually socialize with people that were not in the coven or direct followers of Emperor Belos. It still felt wrong.
“That’s an order, go have fun.” added Emperor Belos in a more authoritative tone but Hunter could still hear the smile behind his mask. “Besides, we need someone that represents me to interact with our guests. Who better than my right hand man?” he added in a more relaxed tone.
Hunter took in his uncle's words before responding “Yes Emperor Belos”as he gave a bow in the direction of his uncle. He then turned around and started making his way through the crowd in the direction of Emira.
Twins
Edric noticed him first. It was the Golden Guard making his way straight to them ignoring everyone that tried to make conversation with him. “He must be mad,” whispered Edric to his sister.
“Who?” said Emira looking around for the source of her brother's concern but it did not take her long to realize who it was.
“Hey Ed, did you do something to the Golden Guard without telling me?’ asked Emira while raising an eyebrow at her brother.
“I was going to ask you the same thing” responded Edric. “What do you think he wants?”
“He probably wants to talk business since the Emperor practically owns Blight Industries now. Although that doesn’t explain why he would want to talk to us.” pondered Emira.
“Maybe he would rather talk to us than mom.” offered Edric.
“Well mom did say to mingle. Who knows maybe we can get on his good side?” replied Emira
Before Edric could respond the golden guard was already standing only a few feet from them. Just standing there staring in their general direction. Or at least they assumed he was it was hard to tell with his helmet on.
Hunter
“Ask her for a dance” he says, like it's that easy. Mumbled Hunter to himself. She doesn’t know I’m the golden guard, she'll probably think I’m just some creep. Not like it would be easier for Hunter to ask her for a dance. They hadn’t spoken since the carnival. When he came back to the castle that day he had been informed about the ball his uncle was throwing. Ever since then he had been extremely busy with managing the event. He hadn’t even had time to respond to her messages. The last message he sent to her just said busy. She probably hates him now.
Pl”us I’d never asked someone for a dance before and this was Emira. At least as the golden guard she wouldn’t be able to see his reactions to her teasing.” thought Hunter to himself as he continued to make his way through the crowd. “What am I supposed to say? Hey Em it’s me Hunter wanna dance? Oh this yeah I’m the Golden Guard. Yeah, the same Golden Guard that threatens your parents no big deal.” Scoffed Hunter to himself. He allowed himself to look back at Emperor Belos. He wasn’t surprised to see his uncle was watching him make his way to the twins.
“Right I was given an order and I have to follow it through. Maybe Emira doesn’t need to know who I am. That way I still get to follow my orders and she won't hate me as much” tried to bargain Hunter “...she’ll find out eventually though.”   He was so deep in thought that he hadn’t realized he was already standing just a few feet from the twins. He took a deep breath to steady his nerves before taking a step forward “Here goes everything” thought Hunter to himself.
Twins
“Smile Ed,” whispered Emira to her brother who was getting more and more uncomfortable with the man standing before them. The Golden Guard stood there for an uncomfortable amount of time just staring at them or at least looking in their general direction; it was hard to tell with his mask on.
“Hey are you o…” before Edric could finish the Golden Guard took a step towards them which caused Edric to stop speaking.
Both twins bowed before the Golden Guard but when they lifted their heads they were surprised to see his hand was outstretched towards them.
Hunter cleared his throat before asking “Could I have this dance?”
The twins were momentarily dumbfounded. Did the Golden Guard just ask for a dance? He was directing his question at Emira but before she could respond Edric stepped forward and took the Golden Guard’s hand.
“Oh I thought you’d never ask.” said Edric as he feigned bashfulness. This was not the first creep that had set their sights on his sister and it wouldn’t be the last. This guy had muscled his way into their families business. Their parents had been on edge ever since their interaction with him. Golden Guard be damned there was no way Ed would allow him near his sister.
“Uhh I uh” Hunter was compleatly taken off guard by Edrics advance. Not to mention the sudden shift in his demeanor. Even though they had only met once before Ed had come across as a kind, warm, and childish individual. His words and actions did not match his eyes; the person in front of him had no warmth in his eyes. I wouldn't have thought he could be so assertive. “That makes sense after what you did to their parents,” thought Hunter to himself.
“That’s enough Ed” said Emira while placing a hand on her brother’s shoulder. “Besides I believe he was asking me, right?” she noted with a smile while giving Hunter a wink.
“I uh yes ...um” Hunter felt his face get hot and once again was grateful for his helmet concealing his face.
“Em are you sure” whispered Edric to his sister while shooting a glare at Hunter.
“Yeah it’s ok I can handle this besides it’s just one dance. Why don’t you go find mom and dad? I’ll meet up with you guys after ok.” she whispered back trying to sooth her twin.
“...Ok” said Edric before shooting one last cold glance at Hunter and walking away to find their parents.
Blights
“...Isn't that right Honey '' gushed Odalia who was speaking with one of Blight Industries frequent customers about a potential new product. “Honey?”
Alador’s attention was completely enthralled by something off in the distance. “Alador?” puzzled Odalia as she began to worry.
“Dear is that our daughter dancing with the Golden Guard?” queried Alador who was squinting his eyes in an attempt to get a better view. Just like his son he also needed glasses but Odalia had given up on trying to get him new ones since he always broke or lost them. Now his goggles were his only glasses which he never remembered to use when he was not working on a project.
“What?! Where?!” asked Odlia while searching the dance floor for their daughter. Emira was not hard to find due to the extravagant dress. Not to mention people were giving the couple a bit more space given that her daughter's partner was indeed the Golden Guard.  Odalia had made it a point of getting the twins the most extravagant attire she could find. It was important to make lasting impressions. Although she never thought that would earn this type of attention.
Odalia let out a slight gasp when she saw her eldest daughter dancing with Emperor Belos' right hand man. “Where's Edric?” breathed Odalia while she looked for her baby boy. There was no way Edric would have left his sister with the Golden Guard and she knew it. He had always been protective of her which means he might have done something reckless.
“I’m right here mother” grumbled Edric who was still staring daggers at his sister's dance partner from behind his parents.
“Oh dear, come tell us what happened,” whispered Odalia to her disgruntled son, making note that he did not have a scratch on him. That was a good sign.
“He just approached us and asked Em to dance, I tried stopping it but Em said she could handle it,” mumbled Edric who was still unsettled by the situation.
Odalia let out a sigh of relief and straightened herself. “Don’t worry dear, your sister can handle this, she's a very smart and resourceful girl. Before the night is over she’ll have the Golden Guard eating from the palm of her hand.” bragged Odalia while giving her son what she thought looked like a reassuring smile but was more self satisfying than anything. If Emira said she could handle it then Odalia was sure her daughter already had a plan in mind. Out of her children Emira had sertently been the one to have inherited her cunning.
“This could be a great opportunity for us,” added Alador who was still squinting at the dance floor.
“Yes indeed” noted Odalia who was already thinking of all the benefits that could come out of this.
Edric on the other hand was not convinced and he still wanted to get Emira away from that guy as soon as possible.
Hunter
“Step one two three.. Step one two three.. don’t step on her feet.” thought Hunter to himself as he tried to keep his cool. “Focus Hunter it’s just one dance you can do this just don’t look at her eyes. And remember you have the advantage since she can’t see your face. Yeah but you can see hers. Oh titan, how is she so calm?”
After a while of dancing Emira finally said “So you’re the Golden Guard?” she mused while giving him a mischievous smile.
Hunter had been spending all of his concentration dancing that he flinched when she spoke. “I um yes” he stammered before clearing his throat and saying it again this time with more confidence “Yes I am.”
“Who would have thought that nerdy boy I met at the library was actually Emperor Belos' right hand man,” wondered Emira to herself as she kept on dancing without any hesitation.
“Yeah… wait what? I... uh no don’t know what you mean,” faltered Hunter before finally giving up. “What gave it away?” he whispered, getting ready for the backlash that was sure to come.
“Your voice, I knew as soon as you asked me to dance. Did you really think I wouldn't be able to tell it was you?” she asked with a smile genuinely amused. “I will say that I was taken off guard at first. Not that you were the Golden Guard but that you were actually asking me to dance.”
Upon hearing this Hunter felt a huge weight lift off his chest and he felt his body relax. He had been so afraid of losing his best friend he never even stopped to think that no matter what she would always accept him for him.
“I’m sorry Em…” he started but  was cut off by Emira who had leaned in to kiss him. Or at least she kissed his helmet where his lips would be.
“Curse this stupid helmet” thought Hunter to himself. He tried to speak but the only thing that came out was something that sounded like a whimper rather than words.
Emira giggled to herself while trying to hide her smile behind her hand. “Was she blushing?” thought Hunter.
“That was a lovely dance. We should do this again sometime but maybe next time lose the helmet? She said as she pulled away from him. “See you around Hunter.” she said as she started walking with that same smile on her face.
“What just happened? Did she just kiss him? Why did she kiss him? And why was he wearing this stupid helmet?!” thought Hunter to himself as his brain scrambled to make sense of what just happened.
It wasn’t until now that Hunter realized that the song they had been dancing to had long since ended.
Blights
As soon as Emira reached her family her mother quickly pulled her into a hug.
“You did good, dear” said Alador in his usual monotone voice.
“Way to go you just made that boy fall head over heels for you.” added Odalia in an excited tone.
She knew that her parents ment the remarks in terms of a business achievement but Emira could not help but smile at the thought of them praising her for dancing with the boy she liked.
“Thanks,” she said with a smile that brightened up her face.
The only one that was not in high spirits was Edric who could not believe what had just happened but before he could confront his sister Emira took him by the arm and pulled him away.
“We’re going to get some punch ok?” said Emria to her parents as she pulled her brother along.
“Alright have fun,” said Odaia before quickly turning around to speak with the crowd of people that had gathered around them. Having their daughter dance with the Golden Guard had definitely gotten them some attention.
Hunter
As soon as he gathered his bearings Hunter made his way back to Emperor Belos' side. And although he could not see his face he got the feeling that his uncle was grinning at him. But before he could reach him he was approached by Kikimora.
“How unsightly to have the Golden Guard walking around with lipstick on his helmet. You are supposed to be a representation of Emperor Belos yet look at you. Walking around like a love struck boy. You could hardly stay on your feet after that girl kissed you. How embarrassing.” sneered Kikimora low enough so that only Hunter could hear her.
“What lipstick?” thought Hunter to himself before the sudden realization dawned on him. Instead of heading back to his uncle he took a turn to go to a part of the castle that was sealed off for the rest of the party. Once he was out of sight he took off his helmet to inspect it and sure enough there it was. Emira’s lipstick from where she had kissed him. His face turned a deep crimson color when he realized he had been walking around like that on top of the realization that he had not imagined it she had kissed him.
He made up his mind, without putting his helmet back on he headed to his room to change.
Twins
“Em, wait, what’s going on? And why did you kiss that guy?” demanded Edric, digging in his heels so that his sister couldn't pull him anymore.
“Calm down Ed I just want to get somewhere we can talk without being interrupted ok?” said Emira who was still smiling.
“Fine, how about over there behind the stairs?” sighted Edric as he pointed to a set of stairs not far from them.
“That’s perfect” said Emira as she started making her way to them with her brother walking next to her.
As soon as they arrived Edric quickly started again but was silenced by Emira who had placed her hand over his mouth.
“I know what you’re going to say but wait and listen to me first. That was Hunter.” noted Emira before removing her hand from her brother's face.
Edric was in a brief state of shock unable to comprehend what his sister had just said. “Wait Hunter? Like your Hunter?” he asked, still not believing what his sister had said.
“Yup he’s the Golden Guard,” added Emira with a small smile.
“You knew? And you didn’t tell me? Em I was so scared” muttered Edric “Did you not tell me because of what happened at the carnival.” he whispered, sounding hurt.
“No Ed it’s not like that. I didn’t know either, I just found out too. You know I tell you everything.” she said, giving him a reassuring smile.
Edric returned his sister's smile before asking “So did he confess his undying love for you?”
Before Emira could respond Ed spun her around so she could see Hunter, not the Golden Guard, making his way towards them. He was wearing a white suit with a golden shirt and a mask that only covered his eyes.
“Ready for round two?” he said before stepping forward to greet Hunter. After they exchanged some words Emira could not make out Hunter continued making his way to her whild Ed used his magic to make sure nobody else could see the pair.
“Hey Em,” said Hunter, who was looking at the floor in a futile attempt to hide his face so she couldn't see him blushing.
“Hey,” she responded, trying to keep her normal composure.
“Um… you said you wanted to try a dance without the helmet right? So.. would you… like to dance with me.” said Hunter who had his hand outstretched towards her and whose face was the deepest shade of crimson color she had ever seen.
“Of course” said Emira while taking his hand.
The song that was playing was a slow song and it gave them time to talk. Once that song was over they kept on dancing to the next ones and catching up on everything they had not spoken about in the past week. How busy Hunter had been and how he was afraid that she might be angry at him to which Emira confessed she thought Hunter no longer wanted to be her friend.
Hunter had not realized he had made her sad. He always assumed she would be mad at him but it neve occurred to him that he would hurt her. She was the one person in the world he would never want to hurt. It must have been the sadness in her eyes which were always so full of joy and playfulness that made him lose his sense of reason. Before he knew what he was doing his lips were already pressed against hers.
When he pulled away he was ready to apologize for kissing her so suddenly but then she kissed him back.
When she pulled away Hunter could see her face. She was blushing and had a smile that lit up the entire room “I really missed you,” she said.
At seeing her face and hearing those words Hunter's heart skipped a beat. Nobody has ever said they missed him.
"I missed you too," he replied, returning her smile.

School crush (Vinira fic)
(English is not my first language so I apologized if something doesn’t make sense. I tried not to but mistakes happend; me, for example)
Chapter two:
It was lunch time at Hexside. All, or at least a good part of the students were having fun talking with their firends and eating their meals.
Emira was doing none of it.
Sitting in the cafetria’s table with her brother and a few other kids that she was forced to hang around with, Emira was in silence just looking at nothing.
‘‘Hey, Em, you good?’‘ Edric asked.
‘‘Perfectly.’‘
‘‘Well, you don’t look perfectly’‘. Odolette said. If Emira had to be honest with herself, she would said that Odolette was her very best friend. Not that she will ever say it aloud.
And actually, all Emira’s forced friends weren’t all bad. If you ignore Mungo, the rest were pretty good.
‘‘So, are you gonna tell us what’s wrong?’‘ Clovis asked with a lot of pudin everywhere but his mouth.
‘‘No and clean yourself’‘. Emira answered. Then, she started to look away at the same direction.
Sorcha, who was at Clovis’ left, took a napkin and cleaned his face.
Emira was looking at the double-track kid’s table with her peripheral sight. Emira wasn’t dumb. As much as she would like to see Viney laughing at something her friends said, she couldn’t. In one hand someone could notice, in the other hand that someone could be her friends, and in the third hand (the worst one) Viney could notice.
‘‘Oh!’’  Clovis exclaimed ‘‘I see what’s happening now’‘
‘‘What?’‘ Odolette asked after a few seconds of silence.
‘‘Is my imagination or our dearest Emira is looking intensely at that up-grade hot boy over there?’’ Clovis asked.
‘‘What?’‘ the whole table, Emira included, asked.
Odolette look at the direction Emira’s eyes were supposedly looking at, Emira did too, just to find a good-looking schoolmate that Emira haven’t met yet, his face was familiar, tho. Probably she have seen him around the school in all these years.
Yes, he was handsome, Emira and everyone with one eye on their face could tell, but there was one little problem. The guy was a he. And she was a lesbian.
‘‘OH TITAN!’‘ Odolette began ‘‘YOU LIKE-’‘
‘‘Shut. Up.’‘ Emira interrupted by putting her hand in Odolette’s mouth to stoped her before someone could hear. ‘’And before anyone say anything, no, I don’t like him.’’
‘‘So, why were you starring with those heart-shaped eyes?’‘ Sorcha asked with exxageration in her voice.
‘‘I didn’t made heart-shaped eyes.’‘
‘‘Sure you didn’t’‘ Clovis said, sarchastically.
‘‘I’m serious. I don’t know what you are talking about.’‘
‘‘Oh, Em! Having a crush isn’t bad.’‘ Odolette began ‘‘Honestly, I don’t know him, but I could sit with them and ask his name or even settle a date this week.’‘
‘‘But what if he says no?’‘Sorcha asked, ignoring completely the annoying and dumbfounded face Emira had.
‘‘As if someone would say no to a Blight.’‘ Clovis answered the question. ‘‘So anyway, Edric,’’ he change the subject ‘‘as Emira is obviously lying,’’
‘‘No, I’m not!’‘ Emira yelled.
‘‘what do you think? Ready to become a protective jelaous older brother?’’
‘‘Nah, Em can do whatever she pleases to. In first place she’ll have to actually talk to-’‘
‘‘Wait! Emira is actually in love?!’’ Sorcha exclaimed. The three friend were just joking and teasing, but now that Edric have sincerely accepted that Emira in fact was crushing that boy, things wouldn’t stop soon.
‘‘Sorry.’’ Edric whisper to his sister once Em started to look at him angry.
Emira sighted. She wasn’t mad at Edric but she sure was mad at Sorcha, Clovis and Odolette.
‘‘Well’‘ Emira thought ‘‘At least Mungo is not here.’‘
And, as the universe and the Titan loves her so much, Mungo appear just behind her and Edric.
‘‘What are we talking about?’‘
The atmosphere changed. No one liked Mungo.
He was part of a wealthy family, as the rest of the twins’ group of friends, but with the sly diference that he did really believed all the bullshit his parents talked about.
Sure, they were all little rich babies, but that didn’t mean that they shared all their belives with their parents. Except Mungo, of course.
And besides that, he is jus simply... Annoying. Always trying to appear the greatest among the greats, when he was defenitely not.
All in the group officially stoped liking him when they were nine years old and had told all their parents that they stealed some some sweet fruits from the kitchen in one of the thousand parties they were all together.
Reth was simply a boot-licker.
That’s not bad, the own Emira has to be one when her mother is involved. It’s a technique to survive, but she learned when and to who be one. And to always back-up your friends.
Mungo prefers praise above anything.
That’s why not even them, who are suppose to be his friends, like him.
 ‘’Nothing at all’’ Edric aswered.
When Mungo appear all their conversations had to change, at least when it were problematic.
Wich was most of the time.
Before Mungo could ask again Odolette asked: ‘‘What where you doing?.’’ And Mungo didn’t hesitated before start talking about how he is so great that his healing  teacher asked him help with something Emira didn’t care to listen.
‘‘So, due to those important and urgent business meetings, my parents will not be able to come to the open doors day.’’ Emira catch Mungo said after a few minutes of dozed out.
‘‘What open doors day?’’ Edric asked while chewing the last slice of his lunch.
‘‘Principal Bump haven’t give the announcement in the illusion track?’’ Sorcha asked.
Em and Ed axchanged looks.
They both skipped those first classes.
‘‘No, he hasn’t.’’ they said at the same time. Normally they wouldn’t care to their friends to know that, but Mungo was there too. And that brat could make someway to let their parents know.
‘‘No matter how many times they’ve done that, it still gives me chills’’ Clovis said reffering to the perfect sync the Blight twins had.
‘‘Agree’’ Sorcha and Odolette said. Mungo didn’t, but it was obvious that everyone freaks out when they do things like that, especially with gestures.
‘‘So, back to the topic,’’ Em interrupted “What was that opend doors thing again?”
“Well, principal Bump announced that, to show some parents improvment, instalations, and much more shit, basically is inviting the tutors to come the next week friday and spend a day here.” Sorcha explained. “He’s even gonna let us go earlier and the ones that can’t get their parents to come, must deliver a letter sign by your tutor and can take the day free.”
“So, besides from Mungo, does anyone’s parents love you enough to spend the day here?” Clovis asked. Before Mungo could object something, Luz, The Human, came in the cafeteria running and  screaming while a giant, wild and mounstrious weird-looking abomination was chasing after her.
And just a few seconds later, Luz’s friends came in too. Willow, Amity and the little ilussion’s track boy that Emira never learned his name before.
After a little of battle, screams and some help from a pair of other students, they could stoped the monster in a few minutes.
.
.
.
When his children asked him if he could come to the open doors day, he couldn’t say no.
He was tempted. But he didn’t.
The mountain of paperwork will have to wait.
The four Blights get in the chariot and soon, they were flying their way to school. Normally they would go walking, but Alador preffered to not.
“Dad” Amity called “, before you get in the school there are a couple of things you should know”.
“Oh, I almost forgot, thanks, Mittens.” Edric said. Amity didn’t even scolded him because of the nickname. She give up some time ago.
“What kind of things?”
“Well...”Amity began.
“Wait, first of all you have to promised us that nothing will reach mom’s ears.”
“Or the emperors ears.” Completed Emira. Alador nodded in agreement, but still aware.
“Does the emperor even have ears?” Edric asked.
“Mmmh... No idea...”
“Guys!” Amity called. “Focus.”
“The thing is,” Amity tried to explain again. It was more difficult that it seemed to “There might be a couple of things that... well...”
“Are illegal” Edric said.
“Edric!” both sisters yelled.
“It’s the truth!”
“But there are ways to say the things!”
“So, Hexside really has illegal things?” Alador asked. He was surprised but his face was looking as calm as always.
For some reason that didn’t surprised him as much as he suspect it would.
“Yeah... So, first thing: There’s a human studying there.”
Ok, Alador did not see that coming.
“That human’s mentor is The Owl Lady.”
Oh, great.
“And the school also have double-track students.”
“Let me guess”. Alador sight. “The human?”
Edric snorted. “Pfft! Of course not, dad!”
“The human is the only all-tracks kid” Emira explained rapidly. “The double-track students are witches. And one of those is my crush”.
Titan, have mercy of them.
.
.
.
Alador Blight have been walking with his children for all around the school. The plan was that the first hours he would spend it with Amity.
Those were pleasant. Alador was too in the abomination track when he was a schooler.
Ah, the good old days when the only things that matter were the grades. He did enjoyed his childhood and his teenage.
Alador didn’t had a lot of friends, but sure he had good ones. His family wasn’t rich or famous, but he lived well and happy with the few luxuries he could have.
In his last school year he formally started a relationship with Odalia and married some years after. The twins born and, in two more years, his little Amity did too.
Alador was in his way to meet Edric and Emira. Amity kinda ditched him when this girl appear. For the colorful uniform Alador guessed that she was the all-track, human, the owl lady’s apprentice. So Alador didn’t said anything and just let Amity enjoy herself.
In his way to the illusion track, Alador saw Bump with the owl lady. The woman was laughing while Bump had a tired expression in his face.
“Dad, I thought you would be spending time with Amity” Edric said when they meet on the halls.
“Well, she preferred to spend time with her friends”.
“Amity has friends?” Emira joked.
“Don’t bother your sister”. Alador said, but before one of the twins could say anything a teacher interrumpted:
“Mr. Blight, what an honor! Hope you are enjoying yourself”.
“I am, is always a delight to spend time with my children”. Alador turn to look Edric and Emira, that where behind him.
“Ed, Em, good morning”. The teacher saluted, with a big, hypocrit smile on his face. “I don’t think I saw you in class the last wenesday”.
‘damm gossipy teacher’. Both twins thought.
Their history teacher was mad with them. He would always give them extra homeworks and tried to put a lot of tricks in their quizzes just to make them fail. They hated to fail.
Failure was never an option.
So, they started to have a war with him.
Who would get mad or insane first?
Most of time, the teacher did.
In this war everything was posible. One time, Edric and Emira even went to his house, in the middle of the night, to set their biggest prank ever.  La créme de la créme.
Let’s just say that, their dear proffesor didn’t went to school for two weeks.
And when he returned, his skin was covered by rash. And his voice was more pitched than a little three year old girl. Oh! And he stinked like rotten meat, too!
The twins didn’t remembered why this whole little war began. The only thing they knew was that no one, besides the them, could knew. The three woud get in trouble, with either principal Bump and Odalia Blight. None wanted that.
Alador raised an eyebrow, curious.
“Of couse we where there, tacher, we woud never do something as skip classes”. Edric began.
Alador raised more his eyebrow. Of course his twins ould skip classes. They’ve been grounded too many times for it.
“Yeah, I mean, we are Blights, any behavior below perfection just doesn't exist”. Emira put emphasis in the Blight part. A casual reminder os status, as her mother says.
“Oh, yes. I think I forgot. So, how’s your proyect going?”
“Dad, I wanna show you something”. Emira called, while grapping her hand in her father’s arm and tooked him far away from the teacher while Edric keep distracting him.
“Care to explain?” Alador asked as Emira pulled him away from that hall.
“Nah, I’m fine”.
Father and daughter walked some more steps until Emira abruptely stoped and stared there for a few seconds while her face turned a little red.
“Is something wrong?” Alador asked. The hallway didn’t seem to have anything out of normal. Just some teachers, students and, because of the special ocassion, some parents, too.
“Oh, no no. Just, let’s get somewhere else and-”
“Hey, Em!” A voice called.
And with that, Emira’s face got even redder.
Not as much as Amity’s angry face, but sure it was something.
“Ahahha, hiii Viney” Emira said, weirdly, as she walk up the hall to get close to the girl.
Alador, watching from the distance, scanned the girl.
Brown hair, double colored uniform and a familiar green eyes. She was way shorter than Emira (and probably the rest of her classmates), but seemed stronger.
“I thought you won’t be comming today”. The Viney girl said.
“Uhm, yeah, my, uh, dad is here... today”. And then Emira pointed in the direction Alador was.
“Should I go and say hi?” Viney asked Emira.
“No, you shouldn’t!”
Viney tilted her head.
Alador chuckled a little. He knew very well how the blush mess™ works. Alador thought that perhaps he should apologize to his daughter for inheriting that trait.
“I- I mean, sure you could but I don’t see why would you liked to do something like, meet my dad, pfft”. Emira was nervous, ok?
Alador from the other side of the hall, listening the best he could to the conversation and trying his best to not laught, waved a little his hand to Viney, wich she responded.
“Anyway,” Em tried to change the subject. “Did your dad is here or...?”
“Yeah, actually, and if none of my siblings took him away, he should be... there!”. Viney pointed to a man talking to the healing track teacher. He was back on his back, so Emira couldn’t see his face but sure Viney’s dad was tall and buff and seemed like Viney inherited her brown hair from her dad, but, as Emira noted, her skin color should be from her mother’s side. Viney’s dad skin was tanned.
“Miss Tamer have done an excellent work. I’m glad she was able to come back to classes”. The teacher congratulated, as Emira could hear.
‘Of course Viney did excellent’, Emira thought. ‘She’s top student in both beast-keeping and healing. A complete cute nerd’.
“Well, thank you miss Alawdi”. Viney’s dad said. His voice was deep but friendly and he was notably happy about the teacher's comment.
“Oh no, you should thank Viney. She’s the one who put the dedication. And as much as I would like to keep talking about such a great student, I have to give more feedbacks to some parents. Good morning, Mr. Tamer”. Alador couldn’t stop himself from remembering the name Tamer. He had known someone with that same surname.
And with that the teacher moved to talk to another of her students’ parents. It seemed more like scolding than feedbacking.
Viney’s dad turned around and looked for his daugher, that was still by Emira’s side.
“Dada,” Viney called her dad while he was walking to them. “She’s Emira, the friend I talked you about”.
‘She told her dad about me!’ Emira thought ignoring completely the friend word.
“H-hello mister, uhm, mister Tamer, sir” Emira talked first.
‘I really need to apologized for the blush mess thing’ Alador thought watching all the scene from the distance. Because of the perspective he couldn’t see neither of the Tamer’s faces, but Emira’s one was straight on his view.
Alador noted that Emira’s left hand was hide on her back and was pulling her braid a little.
That was for sure a little tick that Odalia had too. Except that his wife pulled her dress skirt or shirt. Not her hair.
“... Yes, my dad’s over there”. Alador heard Emira said. He dozed out a little while remembering where his old locker was.
He looked to the only group of people, at this point, and he-
OH TITAN NO!
This isn’t  happening.
What were the probabilities? One in a million?
But of couse he had to have the one...
Because, Titan, Gradyel Fortis was, after all this years, in front of him.
His last named changed, probably because, as he was seeing, Gradyel had a daugher, wich means that he is married. But, Alador could never mistake him, because Gradyel Fortis was his very best friend more than a decade ago.
Suddenly the shortest girl’s green eyes made a lot of sense. ‘It is her mother’s same green eyes’ Alador thought.
“Alador? Is that you?” Gradyel called.
“You know eachother?” Viney asked her dad. with a vissibly confused Emira beside her.
Alador walked to the group, feeling how his cheeks burned, just a little, nothing too obvious.
“That if we know eachother? We used to be best friends, and neighbors”. Gradyel explained to the girls.
“Really?” This time Emira asked to her dad. Her curiosity overlapping her nervousness.
“Yes, we used to hang out a few years ago”. Alador finally said.
“Few years? You mean few decades” Gradyel was laughing at this point and give Alador a pat on his back. Gradyel didn’t measure his strength, because of that Alador to choked a little.
He didn’t mind, after all, Gradyel Fortis never learned how to control his strenght, really.
He changed a lot, just like Alador did. But his essence was still the same.
The same Gradyel Fortis that he spended chatting in classes with.
The same Gradyel Fortis that he helped to cheat on a test.
The same Gradyel Fortis that tried to bake a cake for his birthday (and failed).
The same Gradyel Fortis that he helped to confess the girl he liked.
The same Gradyel Fortis that was Alador’s crush for almost four years.
