Brainrot has hit me real hard for @shepscapades Detroit Become Hermitcraft story, so I thought I’d write a little something for it! I love dbh worldbuilding, and putting the hermits in there only adds to my interest. Anyway, this is partially based on Gem’s Season 8 episode 3, since it lives rent-free in my heart, and I thought it’d be fun to try to translate Gem and Impulse’s interaction into this au. Story’s under the cut!
“Impulse! Hi!”
GeminiTay trotted excitedly towards the android, waving enthusiastically. Impulse smiled, walking slightly quicker to meet her in front of her porch.
[Objective: Meet with GeminiTay] [Complete]
“Hello Gem,” Impulse said, “How are you?”
“Fantastic, thank you,” Gem said, “How’re you?”
“I am well,” Impulse responded. All of his systems were in order, and he hadn’t encountered any warning messages for twelve days. “Am I interrupting anything?”
“No, no,” Gem said, looking a little sheepish, “I was just in the process of, uh, mischief. You’re fine, don’t worry.”
Instead of pointing out that worrying was not in his programming, Impulse simply nodded and got back to their business deal, “Pearl told me that you had some gold that you’d be willing to give us.”
“I sure do!” Gem nodded, rifling through her inventory, “I’ve got two stacks, is that enough?”
“Yes,” he nodded.
[Objective: Collect gold] [Complete]
Taking payment from the pockets of his new suit, he continued, “Pearl didn’t specify a what I should trade with you, will this suffice?”
Gem gasped at the diamonds the android handed to her. “Ten diamonds?” she counted, “Are you sure?”
“Should I have chosen a better price?” Impulse asked, tilting his head curiously. He had done a bit of research beforehand, but he wasn’t programmed with economics in mind. Maybe he should look into some of the wider databases in order to expand his usefulness.
“No, this is fine, I just wasn’t expecting this!” Gem said, “You’re so nice, thank you so much!”
Impulse nodded, watching her turn to presumably walk back to her house. However, instead of going inside, Gem placed down an orange shucker box and dug something out of it.
“Here,” she said, spinning back to face him, “I gave you a spore blossom earlier, and you deserve the real thing too!” She took his hand in hers and gently pressed an item into it, dripleaf if Impulse was correct.
“I don’t have to do your parkour course for this?” Impulse asked, taking a brief moment to analyze the plant. Yep, that was some authentic dripleaf right there.
“Nope! I mean, you can if you want to,” Gem said, “It’s a gift!”
Impulse frowned, the light on the side of his forehead blinking yellow. This was a business transaction, right? He couldn’t simply receive this without giving her anything in return. He rapidly checked his inventory, looking to see if he had anything that could be of use, and decided on the stack of slimeballs he had harvested from the work-in-progress farm.
“I can’t take this for free,” he stated, holding the items out to her, “Please, take this in exchange.”
“Slime?” Gem said, taking the stack carefully, “Oh, I didn’t have any slime yet, this is great!”
Smiling politely, Impulse nodded, expecting that to be the end of the interaction. Gem seemed to have other ideas, though. Hopping closer, she wrapped her arms around his midsection and squeezed gently, leaning into his chest with a soft hum.
“I didn’t expect you to be so huggable,” Gem observed, “I kinda figured you’d be plastic-y and cold, but you’re really soft!”
[Software instability]
Impulse didn’t know how to respond to that.
“Well, thank you so much!” Gem said, lightly tapping her forehead against the android’s arm, “I’ll see you later, Impulse!” And with that, she released him from her grasp and skipped back to her house.
Well, that was interesting.

A Deep Dive into Milkvan and Byler's Development: If Milkvan Was Endgame All Along, Why Was it Written Like This???
SO. I've been rewatching st with my mother, who's never seen it before. And she was a fan of milkvan throughout seasons 1 and 2. Viewing those seasons again I could see why, they're cute. However, come season 3 and INSTANT distaste. And, listen, my mother is not the consciously shipping gal. She simply routes for main character pairings as writers intend, doesn't read between the lines, doesn't nothing. And she does NOT know my own opinions on the pairing. In other words, completely unbiased, uninternet drama influenced eyes. We've now reached season 3 and, after getting through a chunk of it, I asked her,
"so what do you think of Mike and El?"
and she expressed to me that they seem to be, quote:
"not very good together."
She said El's character doesn't suit the way she's acting now (in the first few episodes, concerning Mike), that Mike is more likeable and interesting when he's away from her. She doesn't like the way they ditched the party, and when it comes to their 'making out' the scenes are seen by her from Hopper's perspective (in other words, distasteful). She claimed that they'd be much better characters as friends.
And ya know what, she's right. And I mean like - duh, that's what we've been saying all this time, I'm not stating anything new here. But guys, wouldn't it be strange if the central couple of the show, pivotal that it is liked by audiences and is rooted for by them as they are THE pair, would be so dislikable like this? So uninteresting, so cliche.
I mean, okay, let's do a little mental experiment I like to do to test if I'm not just acting delulu. Let's play a game. In this game, milkvan ARE meant to be endgame. They are in love, they were all along, and they're here to draw in viewers and appease all El stans. Now, seasons 1 and 2 their relationship is honestly fine. Surface level, yeah, people will watch and appreciate them. They perfectly blend in with all the other neat pairings of the seasons, and have their own unique character traits to stand out as a main couple.
Just pretending our mate Will doesn't exist, we now get into season 3. Now, writers have nothing to lose here. If you've finished season 2, you probably like milkvan already. The issue is that they're already together now, so what's the conflict going to be? The arc? And every central couple needs that conflict to stay juicy.
Just take a look:
Jancy: quarrels, struggle to understand one another
Jopper: not yet together, one sided? will they won't they
Lumax: ...
Lumax? Lumax. Huh, guess they were simply together. Some loveable bickering, maintained a friendly dynamic while clearly in closer proximity. Well then, writers can do the same for milkvan right? Well, yes easily. But one might argue that since they are supposed to be THE pairing they need more going on between them than that. So what'll it be? Well, it seems that writers thought,
"hey, why not break them up?"
ok so.. that's a bit risky. I mean you want people to like this ship, if you break them up then that threats: 1. there being a disliking to one or both characters, 2. coming off generic if done incorrectly, 3. the break up might make no sense considering how in love they came off as just a season ago. But hey.. it could work, if done right. Some kind of misunderstanding, similar to Jancy. Maybe an argument leading to a sudden parting. I mean, yeah, Yeah! I can see that. Perhaps Mike is being too overprotective whilst El's trying to sacrifice herself for something, so she NEEDS to separate herself from him attempting to hurt him less. Or, I dunno, something akin. What's crucial is that us, AS THE AUDIENCE, still know them to be deeply in love. I mean, we have to still want them to be together. And we've seen couple trouble before. Just take a look at Lumax season 4 - did you or did you not want the best for both of them as a pair? You most likely did. See, it's doable. So did people like milkvan season 3 the same way, even after a separation plot? No.
Okay well, there are obviously those who'll always love milkvan no matter but, see, season 3 tainted it. "We need to write them like this cause it's more realistic to teenager behavior" my ars. You can make it messy without making it icky. Not only did it sour their unique dynamic, it flabbergastingly stomped on Mike as a character.
Honestly, I feel Mike has always been a mild struggle to write. Season 1 his motivations were 'find Will' (who still doesn't exist in our mind game yet shh) and 'protect El'. This worked well for him. Afterwards though, El and Will became more separate plots to him. But as a main character it remained integral that he be closely linked to them somehow. This sets him apart from Lucas and Dustin, who can easily be given any arc any season as their plots have the flexibility of a side quest nature. Since what Mike does is meant to matter more - with there probably being a better way of phrasing that but you know what I mean - it's harder knowing what he'll do when El and Will (who we'll GET to sh.) are their own separate people. And Mike is just a boy, he doesn't have super powers and he isn't a cop, which leaves there even less for him to do which is of significance. Season 2 writers decided upon having him support Will's arc, making himself of enough relevance by being able to take credit for some Will development in the story, and the plots that surrounded that, and then Mike was thrown a little bone by being the one to come up with the idea of burning those vines in the finale.
Truthfully, you don't really remember Mike's deeds much when reminiscing the series. It isn't like Dustin who's bond with Dart sticks to everyone, or Nancy and Jonathan responsible for kicking out Hawkins Lab. This is due to them, again, being able to traverse all sorts of adventures without limits. But my guy Mike can't do dat. Sadly, this kind of leads to him coming of as a little.. well... insignificant. And I know I know, the Mike truthers are gonna come at my throat. And hey! I love him too. I only want the best for my boy.
This makes season 3 a unique case cause it seems that, for the plot they decided they wanted, writers actually had to almost entirely change his character. I mean mate s2 Mike and s3 Mike are two different peoples, don't even. And I don't believe that the Duffers had their story and character turnouts completely drawn out from the very start at all. If I was to guess, I'd assume they have vague ideas of little plots they plan to include in future, but there is definitely a lot that has come unpredicted or changed throughout st's runtime. And one of those phenomenons are Michael Wheeler. So they decided to make this guy a di-
So they decided to make him more douchy, more movie typical teenage guy. It's not as if he wholly sucked, he didn't, but he didn't really do much. Whined about his girlfriend, separated the party. I mean what even was his arc? (UnLESS–)
You see, if milkvan is written to be loved, then season 3 was strike one. All of its charm was stripped away. It seems they had some cute scenes after their reconciliation, but it's not enough. It's just sort of
"oh, ok, so they're happy with eachother now. yayy."
and Stranger Things should want to be anything but boring. Sure they often enjoy indulging in tropes, but they always do something different with them. Something standoutish. And from this point on milkvan just got dull. Either writers ran out of ideas or lost interest, honestly (still with our mind game of telling ourselves they're meant to be).
But it's okay. Look, so season 3 was a bit rocky, maybe lost a couple of fans for the guys, but it is salvageable. Easily, easily. Looks like we want a plot of Mike struggling to tell El he loves her. Great! Much to work with.
So let's get into it. Season 4! Choices were... made. And, okay, now we can't go any further without bringing in our boy Will.
Mike is intrinsically tied to Will and El and has been from the start. Maybe Will was more of an accident. Maybe s1 Will was just a plot device for Mike, then s2 Will was a plot device again and Mike needed to be there as the main boy character. Come season 3 and it seems their relationship still matters. Will was sidelined - hard - so most of Mike's moments revolved around El. But as his bond with Mike is the only that's been properly built up, that's the only friend we'll get him interacting with in a way that matters. So the Mike and Will tie continues!
But that does not have to be the case for season 4. Now the writers have a chance.
They made Will gay.
Ok so.. ok so yeah that's fine. Yeah! I mean they didn't have to do that, might put them in hot water with the bylers since milkvan is their golden beauty but.. you know what no no that's okay. He's been hinted at being queer since episode 1, why not make it canon! Cool that works. Explore that, especially since we now have Vecna who can easily target Will for this. Give him a boyfriend! Or a guy crush. He's at a new school now? That's cool. Maybe we can explore some new male character Will's taken interest in. Hey maybe he meets someone who interests him which rises to surface his whole sexuality plot and-
he's in love with Mike.
Ok. No. No. What are you doing? What do you mean?? You didn't have to do that. Strike- strike EFING TWO mates! Strike. 👏 efing. 👏 2!
This was part 1. I am tired and gots to get my ars in bed. But ohohoh, do not worry. I am just getting started.

Actually, now I'm thinking about it, it's odd to me that Midoriya and Uraraka look similar and maybe that's on purpose.
Round eyes & face
Facial marks (Freckles for Midoriya, blush stickers for Uraraka)
"Brunette" (green hair is considered being a brunet/te in anime logic)
Shorter than the others
Now given that, what if Uraraka "falling in love" with Midoriya wasn't her actually falling in love? What if it was her having a self-reflection and accepting herself?
Further thinking about it... they're practically the same person.
They're both compassionate, kind. They learn to adapt to changes. They're cute, but they're vicious if pushed far enough. They won't give up on people or in a fight. Hell, they both float, use long range attacks, and close range ones. Works in teams of three (Uraraka-Asui-Hado, Midoriya-Bakugou-Todoroki) under a top Pro Hero.
And they both "rival" some feral blond that they don't act "normal" around.
What if Midoriya wasn't meant to be Uraraka's crush but her mirror? Mind you whenever someone points out her "crush" it's not someone you would turn to for love advice.
Aoyama is Aoyama (think about that reveal), Ashido practically ships anybody with anybody when there's no real chemistry, and Toga has a twisted concept of love.
You really think I would trust any of them on telling me I have a "crush"?
There's also the fact that Uraraka herself during her talk with Midoriya says they're both "oddballs". That whole talk during 342 comes off more as someone talking about their feelings about their identity and relating to a friend who feels the same about themselves than supposedly "romantic". When someone is called an "oddball", it means that person is "weird". They're not part of the "norm".
Sometimes it comes off as having different interests, like someone liking the arts unlike the majority of the group who likes sports.
Or it's someone who identifies as queer.
What if these last few chapters of Toga and Uraraka was Uraraka accepting herself?
@darkcircles4lyfe points out a detail that I didn't catch until now in this post here.
In this scene, Toga has a hold of that All Might keychain. We know it's of importance to Uraraka because Midoriya gave it to her. We also know that once before Uraraka snatched it away from her when Toga first got a hold of it during the PLF War Arc. Here, she doesn't do it. Granted, because she's bang the hell up and probably even isn't aware of her surroundings. But on Horikoshi's part, what if that's on purpose? What if here, Toga is taking the keychain as a way of saying Uraraka is finally accepting herself and her feelings? That Midoriya was that mirror she kept looking into and questioning until this very moment?
Tumblr media
And let's be honest here, it's not like Horikoshi isn't incapable of writing M/F ships. I just think IzuOcha is a ship he doesn't intend to make romantic because of how underdeveloped it is.
Compare it to Kamijirou and Kirimina, it is pale. Also, make note of those two pairs.
The characters in those ships also have opposing physical features.
Kamijirou - dark and light hair colors, the extrovert and the introvert
Kirimina - Spiky hair and curly hair, sharp edges and round curves
A lot of pairs Horikoshi puts together in which the characters are close (romantic or platonic) have some opposing features to them.
Gentle Crimimal and La Brava - tall and short, dark hair and light hair, one is more hands on and the other isn't
Eraser Head & Present Mic - quiet and loud, dark hair and light hair, close combat & long range
Bakugou's and Jiro's parents - quiet & loud, dark hair and light hair
It's his shtick.
But for Midoriya and Uraraka? They are just genderbend versions of each other!
That's really all I have to say here. And if you disagree, fine. Don't care for the input though, keep it to yourselves. (I say this because some of you are just damn disrespectful.)
I myself don't think IzuOcha is a bad ship, but I just don't think it's a ship Horikoshi has on his agenda. Let alone wants the audience to perceive them as "romantic" but as a "mirror".

Is this a safe space. Can I just say that I think Fig's "I think that this is the creature Aguefort made for me" line immediately upon meeting Ayda isn't romantic at all, but actually super dehumanizing?
This is not meant to condemn Emily, Fig, or Figayda AT ALL. Ayda is genuinely my favorite fictional character of all time, and Figayda is my favorite ship of all time. But like. We have to admit that that initial meeting scene is rough. Kristen was by far the worst in that moment, but Fig wasn't exactly helping either.
When Fig says "I think that this is the creature Aguefort made for me", it's not in an 'we were made for each other you're my soulmate' kind of way. She's specifically referencing her request for an exotic animal (!!!) whose intended purpose is just to be used by people. It's not cute.
Literally the next line after Fig's "creature" comment is Adaine telling her flat out "No. This is a full person." And in the finale when Fig echoes this sentiment to Arthur, you can practically hear Emily's brain working to rephrase it in a way that doesn't sound as bad (I actually like it when she says it that time, it's clearly with respectful and romantic intent).
It's not entirely the players' fault and I certainly don't think they were intentionally being dehumanizing because she is black or autistic. They're improvisors who don't always say the wisest thing in the moment. They couldn't have predicted that this fetch quest NPC would gain deep significance and nuance over time. And part of it is just a reaction to the extreme and somewhat dehumanized way Brennan characterizes Ayda in that scene ("I require seed"), something he notably stops doing as she becomes more of a recurring character.
It's just not a good line y'all. I wish we would all stop referencing it.

Time for my weekly thoughts and man this week is a frustrating one. It was just supposed to be a cute episode w/ a sad little moment between Claude and his dad and a sweet one between Desmond and his sister but I'm so concerned for the reading comprehension of so many people after this one.
First, the one I saw talked about most-
Tumblr media
For christ sake, YES, they can technically have kids. But you have seen the result of a human and blank having a kid. Remember Rex living in his basement for 18 years?? Remember the literal PROTESTS about the last half-blank that was born? And how she was going to be sent to a lab?? Yes, they can technically have damn children!! But nobody in their right mind CHOOSES to have a half-blank! That is all Desmond meant. Second, this was originally supposed to be commentary on just...how weird it is he's even thinking about that lol. Like I'm ngl, I always find it really weird how...interested people are in my characters breeding. Any time there's any sign of romance between a male and female character, there's tons of comments on what that would mean for their children when children aren't even a concept in their minds rn. Like why do you care what percent blank Rex and Nia would have? You think Nia's even remotely thinking about that rn? Idk, it's ALWAYS weirded me out when that's the first question people have about a ship, but it's a VERY common question, so I wanted Rosie to call out how weird it is lol. If you're one of those people who asks that tho... Then idk. Sorry. I think that's a little weird of ya!! I get eventually wondering it but why is it like always the first concern?
Second:
Tumblr media
Rolling over more so from last week, the amount of people shocked in the recent episodes Claude is a Blank? I already ranted about this a bit in a previous post, but the amount of people acting like this is the first they're hearing of this....seriously makes me question my writing and also sad how little people must be actually reading this. There are so many instances of Claude without his mask, flat out stating he's a blank, seen with blank space, and most blatantly, stealing a drug that is only intended for blanks? And implying he's gonna use it?? Like at this point, you must just be skipping any chapters where Claude is on screen and it makes me feel like I'm wasting my time writing his scenes.
Lastly... And this one has been baffling me since season 2:
WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE THINK JAY IS A GIRL??!!!??!???!
He has AMAB anatomy, he's use he/him pronouns the entire series, and his siblings call him "brother." Is it his hair???? Because even that was inspired by a male character!! (Usopp from One Piece) This one's been a mystery to me since s2 when he was introduced. Is it just people assume a person raising their siblings like a single parent must be a girl?? Or is it less deep than that?
Sorry for such a cranky weekly thoughts but oml I just...couldn't even enjoy the comments about Desmond being a silly protective brother because it's just one of those weeks where I feel like everyone's skipping every episode that isn't entirely focused on Rex.

Resent request! :) maybe a Al with an S/O who he'd hate to admit has him wrapped around their finger, and the S/O is kind of oblivious to this fact. They wield a power they don't know they have. Has the hotel staff caught on? Did they think the reverse at first knowing Al's ability to manipulate? Does Al realize how bad he has it? Does he fight it? Love you headcanons so much!!!😊😊😊😆
Okay so this one is cute, and I'm glad you like my content! I don't remember ever seeing this in my inbox so I suppose Tumblr was hungry that day. Gender neutral terms used, will be tagged. TW: Brief mention of weapons but it's just like, a vine with thorns nothing drastic.
Alastor - He does everything for his partner and everyone sees it. This gentleman will sit at the grand piano and play any song of their choice with a shadow choir and make a whole show of it. The staff are well aware of what's up. - "What? I treat them no differently than anyone else! They're simply my partner, of course I would be romantic to my dear [Y/N]!" - Sure Alastor. - All the while his partner has no idea about it. They think he's just being sweet, a 30's man of his stature was quite the gentleman. Of course he would be sweet to them! Angel looks jealous when Alastor presents them with a dead rose. It's a thoughtful gesture. - The entire hotel staff know that [Y/N] is practically holding Alastor at their beck and call. Little snide remarks are made by Angel but otherwise it goes under the radar for them. Most think it's cute but Vaggie... - She thinks Alastor has done something to make them feel a certain way for him. He insists otherwise but this woman is insistent on him being a terrible man. What's he playing at? Truth is he's in denial that he has such strong feelings for his partner, he didn't intend to fall this hard. He knows how hard he's fallen again for his partner but doesn't fight it, he's more trying to pretend he doesn't have it that bad. - Vaggie's suspicion of their ability to manipulate grows worse when Pentious makes another attempt on Alastor and [Y/N]'s response is a long tendril of thorny vine shooting through his new ship. She thinks Alastor brought this out. He insists he didn't! But he makes a promise to help them harness their ability to use plants as weaponry. Explains the leaves that grow in their hair.

I love youuu hope youre having a great day <33 also thoughts on sanlu as a ship?
I really like SanLu! They were not on my radar much until some friends started shipping them and that made me understand their appeal... I don't really ship them until after the timeskip (pretty much same as SanUso) but I think they're very sweet. There's something appealing about their dynamic - Sanji with his self-worth issues, and Luffy who loves everyone and all his crew members, but still loving Sanji most specially of all... Whole Cake Island makes SanLu EXTREMELY shippable haha. Sanji has only ever wanted to cook for the people he loves and he found a captain who doesn't want to eat anyone else's cooking for the rest of his life!!
Also for a chef who would rather die than waste food, there's something cute about him ending up with a guy who has an almost bottomless stomach and who will eat any disaster... Sanji can probably experiment so much more in the kitchen knowing that even if it turns out weird, Luffy will still eat it all and nothing will get wasted LOL. Zero waste chef X garbage disposal boyfriend OTP ♥
I think due to his trauma, Sanji can be a very emotionally needy person in a relationship, which might cause issues in with other people, especially if they have their own emotional hangups (like Zoro or Usopp). And obviously it's best for Sanji to address his emotional needs properly and unpack his trauma... but in the short term, it's also just very comforting and refreshing to see him with someone who has literally endless love and time and attention to give. Where Zoro might get annoyed or Usopp might get anxious because Sanji is in a "why would you even love me" spiral, Luffy would just be like UHH I LOVE YOU CUZ YOU'RE SO AMAZING!! REASON NUMBER THREE: IT'S FUNNY WHEN YOU GET EMBARRASSED WHEN I SAY YOU HAVE A PRETTY SMILE. REASON NUMBER FOUR: FRENCH PASTRIES. REASON NU-
Anyway, it's a very cute ship! I kinda have to be in the mood for it, but I've made a bit of SanLu (implied) art before. My "Food As A Love Language" comic isn't explicitly intended to be read as romantic but you can certainly interpret it that way if you want and it explores an aspect of Sanji & Luffy's dynamic that I really like. Thank you for the message! I hope you're having a great day too!!

I fully believe that I watched stranger things the way the duffers intended when it comes to byler.
Here were my thoughts (as I remember them) back when I watched Stranger Things for the very first time.
Also I'm gonna refer to Mike and El as milkven because apparently if you say the actual ship name it gets into milkven shippers algorithms or something
In season one- I felt absolutely nothing towards Mike and El, I literally groaned when they had their first kiss because of the generic "main guy gets together with main girl" trope, and I also found it really icky that El JUST compared her and Mike's relationship to a sibling kind of dynamic.
In season 2- okay I won't lie I shipped milkven in season 2, I thought they were really cute in their reunion scene (and admittedly that scene is still absolutely adorable), if the show ended with season 2 and I shipped milkven I would be a very happy camper. BUT obviously season 2 is notoriously THE byler season. I remember in the first scene with Mike and Will, when they're alone outside of the arcade, I remember my first time watching that and saying outloud "ha they have more chemistry than El and Mike do" I said it as a joke at first but as the season went on that feeling that they were good for each other only progressed. (This still blows my mind how I picked up on that without even knowing they actually liked each other lmao)
In season 3- my first time watching season 3 was eeehhh not very good for byler, you definitely have to know and analyze the characters to understand literally anything Mike does (at least I did lol) but I definitely knew that Will really liked Mike, I could tell immediately in the scene where Mike and El are walking away while the others are trying to contact Suzie, I remember seeing the way Will looked at them and thinking "oh wow Will totally likes Mike, that's cute" Also I really really hated milkven in season 3, my favorite scenes were El being independent and getting away from him
Season 4- DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED! Season 4 is what pulled me straight into the byler fandom. I cannot tell you how happy I got when Mike and Will had their kinda heart to heart early in the season, I don't know how to describe it but you know what I mean, it's this one ↯
Tumblr media
Every single time they were on screen I could tell it was romantic, even in their fight scene. (I'm not even gonna start with the van scene otherwise we'd be here all day) Milkven on he other hand just made me mad, I cannot even begin to tell you how badly I cringed during Mike's ily monologue.
Keep in mind that these were are my thoughts from the very first time I watched these episodes and I KNOW it was intended to be that way. Obviously after learning more about the characters (mainly Mike) I have a LOT more to say about them, but the fact I picked up on this much from just my first viewing is honestly really telling.

Stargazer anon! The Totoro plushie looks so cute and well-loved ^^
I'm genuinely concerned for Raph. It's understandable to get attached to a character, but when it looks like Raph is actually trying to emulate Angel irl, it doesn't... well, seem really healthy. Especially since he ships Valangel unironically. Wasn't there one time in HB S1 where there was a bg character who looked like Angel but it turned out to be someone's persona? I can't remember if it was Raph or another staff member. I keep flip-flopping between concern and disgust for them.
Same concern is also extended to the DonttrustChai account. Again, getting attached to something is understandable, but the way they're behaving is unsettling.
Viv, however, gets no pity points from me for invalidating SA victims, and lying about Raph being one. I like reading non-con stories, but am not an SA survivor, and I would never tell my friends about it since I know it isn't for everyone. Most of the time, it's also clear whether the writer is intending the fic to be fetish fuel or tactful about the topic. Raph's work is definitely the former and it bleeds into the episode. I guess Viv is in denial of having a non-con fetish after seeing all that art of Addison. Also, that other anon made me wonder how she actually thinks of Raph as a trans man considering her track record. Honestly? The one thing I can learn from Viv is how to be a better writer, and that style doesn't matter without substance.
He's extremely well-loved! Been with me through plane rides and hard family times and a couple of surgeries.
Agreed on Raph and even on DontTrustChai. They're shitty people, but something about Viv's just sent these people off the deep end. It's alarming as hell.

oKaY listen! Jegulus is my OTP and I LOVE me some Bartylus too, but REGULUS & PANDORA 🥹🥹🥹
My babies!!!
Just that they understand each other in a way nobody else can and and and AHHH
1. Okay first of all: SHIP NAMES
Their most common one is Regdora which - kinda boring? Like it’s not bad, but when we have names like STARCHASER or NOBLEFLOWER or FLOWERPOT for other ships that just won’t do. Therefore my suggestion:
Stargazer
Because Star - Regulus (no explanation needed) and like gazer as kind of a synonym for seer?? Alternatively I have Starseer or Waterbox (Water for Reggie like in Moonwater + Pandoras Box yk), but Stargazer just sounds so Stargazer.
2. I OBVIOUSLY love them as an „Arranged Marriage I don’t want AT ALL (why are there butterflies in my stomache??) trope“, BUT also as the „we are queer best friends and jealous of each others partners, but idk why” trope!!
Also how many AMAZING Dynamics they have??
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- I hate everyone, but you and you love everyone, but you love me the most
- Soulmates
- Best Friends to Lovers
- ENEMIES TO LOVERS (Arranged marriage trope)
3. The DENIAL the both of them would have (especially when they are both seers) like:
„I saw a prophecy that showed me and Reggie in a Cottage with a child that could be related to us - MUST BE BECAUSE HES THE GODFATHER“
„Had a Dream abt Panda standing in front of me in a wedding gown - GOOD TO KNOW IM GONNA BE HER BEST MAN“
DO YOU GET WHAT I MEAN??🥹
or the Arranged Marriage Trope??
„Dream Abt making out against a door with Regulus - HOW WEIRD”
“Wow Pandora looks like a goddess in that dress, her glare makes me feel fuzzy and I want to smooth the frown on her forehead with my fingers while she looks up at me - IVE GOTTA REALLY LIKE THAT DRESS TO THINK LIKE THAT”
4. Once they ACTUALLY start dating they would literally be inseparable. They would cuddle and kiss and talk 24/7! Even their me-time they both need turns into us-time and is just as effective. They would start to panic if they don’t see each other for more than a DAY. Also their dates would be sooo cute!! No matter whether it would be the cozy queer cafe around the corner or the flashy pureblood dance balls. They would have such a comfy aura and nobody would mind their pda cause they would be so comfortable with each other.
Sometimes they would just spend a day in absolute silence but a COZY COMFY DOMESTIC ONE yk???
Also the “I hate physical touch except for when it’s you” trope!!
5. Just then going to a pride parade together with matching outfits in like their 30s, already married and a bi flag on Reggie’s cheeks and a Pan one on Dora’s and they would be so PROUD.
Or just the courting process in the arranged marriage trope PEAK!!
6. They are love. They are soulmates. They are Stargazer (or Waterbox still unsure bout that one)
This got WAY longer than I originally intended but oh well :)
REGDORA!!! FAIRYSEEKER!!! MY LOVES <33333
you don't understand how much I adore them. I love love love them. they're my everything's <3 my hunnies <3 my sweet little babies <3
okay so, 1. I actually don't mind the name regdora, but yes, it's blant and ugly compared to everything else. personally, I know them as fairyseeker, which is what you can find them under on my blog lmao. stargazer is a GORGEOUS ship name... though I think of regularly every time I hear it lmao
i LOVE the name waterbox. idk why I just adore it
2. yesssssssss!!! istg they have the best troupes (next to bartylily). them as arranged marriage partners sounds so fun. imagine they're just kids when they first meet, and they're told they're supposed to get married when they grow up to combine the rosiers/lestranges
at first, they don't mind (they're tiny and have no idea what being married even means). they start hogwarts, and both realise that they're into their same gender people (once again, i bring up my mtf dora + ftm reg). so both spend a lot of time just convinced they aren't into each other. reg is a lesbian after all, and pandora is gay... then they come out as trans and both are like: oh-
3. grumpy x sunshine is so them omfg
them bith as seers???? Christ. them being so fucking blind is just so fitting. they never even consider that they might like each other
them as oblivious little fuckers so true. they are in deep denial fr. regulus is foaming out the mouth at how pandora is, but it's completely platonic
4. HSEIBSIEBSOENSO YESS OMFG
All they need is each other. they're always together, getting one of them alone is impossible. you can try, and you will fail
that trope is SO them. it's insane
5. they would definitely love their time at a pride parade. they're having the time of their lives and they've been happier
6. I love it when asks go this long. it just sucks because I usually can't add anything on because you guys are just so correct already 😮‍💨
thank you for sharing your brain with me. I appreciate it a lot <3

Scurrying Seafarers
Trigger warning: Rodents, Medical experiments/surgeries/dissections mentioned
Content: Slice of Life, Fluff, Rats Summary: A dissection gone "wrong" leads to rats on the Polar Tang. It's wholesome I swear
Usually, Law had no issues with experimenting on things. As a matter of fact, even at a young age, it wasn't unusual for him to dissect frogs he'd catch, following along as his father explained what each organs were and what they did. Usually though, when he bought rats, it was some that already were dead from some illness or the other they'd picked up along the grand line, giving him good hindsight on what said diseases did and how to counter them as he dissected them.
Today was an unusual day for the surgeon of death. These rats he'd bought were very much alive. When he'd heard about sick rats and bought them, he had expected them to be dead already, not caught in little traps. Apparently the people who trapped them felt bad for the rats, and he hadn't corrected them when they assumed he was a vet.
Most of the time he didn't think twice about doing these things; they were merely rats... But they looked at him. With their little eyes. Like they begged him to help them. Small creatures with round eyes and pretty soft fur... They were insanely cute, and unknowingly had found one of Law's weaknesses. So here he was, sitting at his desk, with a bunch of rats in their small trap cages, all of them with similar symptoms; lethargy, odd clicking noises, labored breath, and some of them had red liquid coming out of their noses. All things he'd find very worrying in humans, but his rational mind reminded him these were, in fact, animals, and perhaps some of it was just... Normal rat things. He sighed, annoyed at himself, before stalking out of his office, his crew members avoiding him as he was frowning in a way that told them it was perhaps for the best to leave him alone.
A trip in town later, and Law had his arms full of books on... Pet rats. And caring for them. Everything from their diet to various veterinary books and one that simply explained how to train them. Not that Law intended on keeping them, of course, no, this was just to make their stay decent until he adopted them out, obviously.
He did feel slightly ridiculous putting the small creature down on the way too large operating table though. He sighed before looking at his veterinary book, opened on a page about respiratory infections in rats. The dosages were ridiculously low, making it harder to administer as he didn't want the poor rodents to overdose on their medecine. He startled a little as a voice rang out in the operation room.
"Captain? Is someone injured?"
Bepo was concerned as he poked a head inside, before staring at the sight. This definitely was not what he expected.
"... Are you operating on a rat?"
Law turned around, feeling just a little silly over everything, not sure of why he actually was so concerned for critters like this. It was unlike him, really. Bepo didn't seem to mind though as he stepped closer, smiling happily.
"They're cute!"
Law merely hummed to show he was listening, focusing back on handing out medecine to his bunch of rodents, allowing his friend to stay and watch if he wanted.
"Captain... Can I adopt one?"
Law then paused to look up at Bepo. What was he on about now? The mink was looking adoringly at the creatures, ever so gently patting their back with his huge paw.
"I intended on giving them away in the next port."
Rats on a ship were always bad news... But these ones were fairly friendly, and perhaps it would be good to keep his crew occupied in the long hours they spend travelling underwater. Bepo's puppy eyes were making him waver in his decision.
"...Sure."
The polar bear cheered, albeit quietly to not startle them. Law sighed again and pointed at a grey rat.
"You can have this one. The book said this coat color was called Mink, it seemed fitting."
Once Bepo had picked up his rat, ever so carefully, and ran off to tell the others, Law knew he was in it now.
Over the course of the next few hours, his entire crew seemed to have come up to him to ask for their own pet rat, all of them claiming it was unfair if only Bepo got himself a companion. Ikkaku had come in first, picking an elegant beige colored rat with lovely brown markings on its nose, claiming it would compliment the boilersuit everyone on board wore before scratching its chin and running off. Not far behind were Shachi and Penguin; Penguin picking a white and black rat that had markings somewhat similar to a penguin, saying he'd fit right in given his own name. Shachi had picked one of the albino rats, claiming the red eyes made it look very cool.
Soon, almost everyone on board had come by to pick their own rats, most of them leaving the critters with Law for now since they were going under treatment. Not long after, the crew had organised itself to send a group to buy better cages, litter, food and even toys for their rats. The heart pirates were dead set on not only being good owners, but actually find ways to spoil their new companions.
Law had looked down at the little black rat left, before once more acting rather bothered, huffing as he carefully reached out and gave it an experimental scratch with his finger. Since it seemed to please the creature, he smiled a little to himself.
-----
Later on that evening, a small argument broke out in the common room, right after dinner. Surprisingly, the dishes were particularly clean before reaching the sink- it seemed the new tiny, furry crewmembers had already been given scraps.
"I'm telling you, Snowflake is a fearsome dude!"
"And I'm telling you my little Pingu actually has balls, so yours can't be a boy!"
"No, Pingu just has a big butt!"
Law wondered if perhaps he shouldn't slink back to his quarters, or sit in a corner and listen in without them noticing him given the very childish nature of what he was hearing. Sadly for him, his luck wasn't so good; Shachi and Penguin had turned to him, and Shachi was stalking up to the poor man, holding his rat up to him.
"Tell him Captain! Snowflake is a guy rat, right?"
Said captain took one look at the rat and shook his head. Turns out spending the rest of his afternoon reading all about rat care, medical or otherwise, came in handy very fast.
"...No, that is definitely a female."
Penguin laughed at that.
"Shachi finally gets a girl!"
What followed was a chase and more laughter as the two men messed around, though they remained very careful as they still carried their new pets. Bepo tried to step in, only to end up apologising when told off, walking back to his captain's side.
"...How did you name your rat, Captain?"
The bear perked up when he saw the little black furry ball resting in the feathers around his captain's neck, snuggling up on his shoulder.
"....Sora."
Admitting to it brought the tiniest blush to Law's face, as he knew all too well it was nerdy. Bepo beamed at him.
"...I called mine Captain Junior!"
----
(Author's note: I don't own rats but think they're neat little critter. IMO if any crew has matching pets, it's them. The rats' crew name is "the Lab Rats". Ikkaku's rat's name is "Wrenchy".)
I made some art to go with this too!

Any opinion on Karezi? Did its potential end before the retcon or would it have had potential afterward?
I don't really speculate much on relationships in Homestuck and "what could've been", or whether or not relationships are better or worse specifically with the Retcon as the center focus. I like the Retcon, and the teenage relationship drama doesn't really interest me all that much and I don't tend to care to delve into it. I'm a grown ass man. I have more things to worry about than whether or not fictional 13 year olds are kissing good. No offense intended, a hobby is a hobby, it's just that getting super into shipping isn't mine.
That said, I do like Karkat and Terezi's relationship. I think it's underrated. They're very cute friends. The only quadrant I can see them in is Moirallegiance, though, I will say that.

Okay, I just saw your other ask about leshley/eagleone and felt like I had to get in on this because ever since RE4Make came out, I've been going crazy over this ship. I have always found it cute in RE4 OG, but now it's driving me crazy. I cannot understand how many people miss the many implications that Leon is trying to flirt during certain parts of the game. Like seriously, come on, pals, he's being so awkward, trying to sound cool and give compliments that end up sounding weirder than he intended. And I don't know if it's just me that noticed this, but I find it funny how Leon talks to Ashley in certain moments like it's the easiest thing to do; then, in other parts, he really has no clue how to speak to her. Does that not scream attraction to anyone?
i'm with you on this one. i don't know how people miss EVERYTHING about them. like they don't even go "oh?" at times when they're playing. it probably depends on the mindset you have when you're playing. if you're hyperfocused on the action, maybe you'll miss it. idk. on social media, there are two broad types of people who have negative reactions when it comes to leon/ashley:
1. aeon shippers (mostly, can be other shippers as well, but they're mostly chill because they themselves get forced into a corner by aeon stans) who think it threatens their ship
2. people who are fiercely anti-romance when it comes to whatever media they consume and consider it to be dumb and actively making a good piece of media worse (because in their eyes, romance is a lowly preoccupation to have)
and both groups are super bitter for no reason lmaoooo. you might have noticed a tendency in media discourse recently on social media that is very anti-romance - a few weeks ago, it became a whole thing on twitter because of the bear (the tv show) and the ship between sydney and carmy, to the point where even official media outlets started talking about it. romance is considered dumb. everything that contains romance is essentially a bad soap opera. blah blah blah we're all too smart for that. there's a very strong, almost puritanical anti-sex sentiment going around at the moment as well, and i wish it was just some isolated issue within fandoms overpopulated by young teens, but people lost their minds over two sex scenes in oppenheimer for god's sake. and if i had the time and willpower and knowledge, i'd turn this into a discussion about how that ties into humans being obsessed with moving away from every single instinct that they have, but well.
i also agree with the second part of your ask, about leon's attitude towards ashley. tbh, leon can't flirt for shit: most of the time, he's awkward (RE2R, the fence scene with claire: i can never tell if he's attempting to flirt, or if he's just awkward because there's a cute girl right in front of him) or even downright unfunny (was he trying to flirt with jill in death island? was he trying to lighten the mood? idk man leon is a bit of a whore so). he tries to flirt all the time: we got shen may in infinite darkness, ada, etc. we know he isn't smooth.
so one thing that really sticks out in RE4R is his tone with ashley, in two specific instances (maybe more): the one i mentioned in my previous ask, when he says "i can catch you", and when he sees ashley asleep on the bed in chapter 13 (and calls out to her). these are two very intense and high-stress situations where he kind of reverts back to RE2R leon (nick does a great job at conveying the difference in maturity in leon's voice in both games). he's very distressed. why does that matter? because fucking shouting ashley's name when there are two enemies 10 meters away (we know that, he doesn't, but the island is riddled with ganados, so why would he even try?) is the stupidest decision a special agent could make. and yet he does it anyway. there are other instances of leon being in a similar situation, yet he still retains that deeper tone of his - see his first encounter with krauser in chapter 11.
and it's not just because he's doing his job, which is what one of my friends argued, because you don't go around flirting with the person you're tasked to rescue for shits and giggles. not to mention, that's the president's daughter. if he was just doing his job, he'd stick to the plan, be stoic and get her home and that's it. that's what's required of him. implying that the first daughter is hot as fuck and that he doesn't usually enjoy his regular missions nearly as much as he does when he's with her isn't part of his job description. there's a difference between being a decent guy and not treating her like cargo, and overtly flirting with her.
i think he's also very awkward with her at first because he's toeing the line between what's acceptable and what isn't, so he can figure out if there is grounds for flirting and it's not wholly unwanted on ashley's part. then you get that pep talk in the castle, which is when they really start to get comfortable with each other and when he attempts some physical contact that isn't just 100% necessary. she reacts well, which explains why he takes it further in chapter 9. he spends the rest of the game painfully distressed and by chapter 16, they're all over each other (jetski + taking her hand to run to the elevator - leon, the girl is smart, she knows how to run and follow you).
leon has a crush. plain and simple. he doesn't know how to deal with it, except for the few times when he does and the flirting is technically reciprocated. idk how people can't notice the plain signs of attraction, even in a generation that is as recluse and introverted as mine tends to be, but they're very obvious once you start paying attention.
