The Tuareg people
They are a large Berber ethnic confederation. They principally inhabit the Sahara in a vast area stretching from far southwestern Libya to southern Algeria, Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
Traditionally nomadic pastoralists, small groups of Tuareg are also found in northern Nigeria.

I feel like I might have over-engineered these maps so I will take feedback. Also with the insane amount of reading I tried automating the citations, there might be errors caused by the software. Second image is an alternative version with only numbers on the map, in case it's easier to read for you.

(EN) Historic place of the week🏛️
Al-Qal'a of Beni Hammad
This fortress located in the mountains of northern Algeria was the first capital of the Hamadite emirate, a Muslim Berber kingdom that dominated the area in the Middle Ages. The city was founded in 1007 by the emir Hammad ibn Bologhin, and became one of the most prosperous in North Africa, with a mosque that is still one of the largest in the region. The city was unfortunately abandoned in 1152, and today only its ruins remain.

Character Ask: The Daughter of Buk Ettemsuch
Tagged by @softlytowardthesun
Here's a link to this northern African fairy tale for anyone who, like me, had never heard of it until now.
Favorite thing about them: She's clever, sensible, and evidently skilled in magic, and she uses her wits to solve her problems.
Least favorite thing about them: She tricks her husband's other two wives into killing themselves in gruesome ways, when they did nothing except be rivals for her man. Also, she cooks human flesh for her adoptive ogre father to eat, though that might be forgiven because deep down, she might suspect that she'll become his dinner if she refuses.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I'm female.
*I'm smart, or at least I hope I am.
*I'm a good cook, even if I don't know how to turn my own fingers into fried fish or my body into bread.
Three things I don't have in common with them:
*I'm an only child and always have been – I've never had any sisters eaten by a witch.
*I'm not always good at following instructions or obeying orders.
*I would never kill innocent people.
Favorite line:
"Ah, if only my husband had sworn by that oath ["By the head of Buk Ettemusch"], I could have spoken to him from the beginning, and he need never have taken another wife. But now he will never say it, and he will have to go on marrying fresh ones."
brOTP: The talking pitcher and water jug, for want of any better friends. In crossover-land, she might become friends with the Little Mermaid and Elise from The Six Swans/The Wild Swans, two other heroines made to suffer by enforced silence, though I'm sure they would be horrified by her ruthless streak.
OTP: Her husband the Prince.
nOTP: The ogre Buk Ettemusch himself.
Random headcanon: She'll have six daughters and name each of them after her dead sisters – they might have been cruel, but they were still her family – and the youngest one will grow up to have a fantastical adventure of her own.
Unpopular opinion: I share the opinion submitted to @feministdisney that this story would be a good choice for a new Disney Princess movie. Or at least a very loose adaptation of it would work.I've always wanted Disney to make a movie in an African setting that stars humans, not animals, and to have a second black Princess besides Tiana, and a brave and cunning survivor like this girl would be a good choice. Of course they would have to bowdlerize the story, in particular cutting out the deaths of the other two wives, and they would have to flesh out the underdeveloped aspects, but the basic outline of the tale has real potential. I only list this as an unpopular opinion because so few people know this tale to begin with.
Song I associate with them: None.
Favorite picture of them:
