The New York Nil Gallery selected six of our graduate productions – Heartwood, Toil and Trouble, Noise Film, Dreaming, M.A. and Hiding to compete for the ‘Best Student Project Award’.

We are delighted to announce that M.A. is the winner of the New York Nil Gallery ‘Best Student Project Award’.

‘New York Nil Gallery is one of the leading platforms of international photographers, painters & musicians, dedicated to artists who embody diversity, innovation and creativity. NYNG gives artists the original platform to express their vision of World celebrating based on their personal experiences and observations.’

The gallery event was held online from 10 – 13 January 2023.

rewatching nope (2022) today bc it's my day off and god everything about this movie is sooooooooooo. it's so good. truly can't remember the last time I was in a theater kicking my feet giggling bc a film was so well put together like truly every other minute I was staring at the screen in awe like holy shit they did that!! how did they do that that is so cool!! the sound design, the set design, the characters, the THEMES and the NARRATIVE, the blocking in certain scenes. THAT FUCKING ALIEN girl I'm sorry I'll never be normal about this movie

#the way the plot sorta spirals in on itself. u have this thing which relates to this thing which made this happen #and it all just keeps spiraling inward bc even tho they're all different scenarios they are all actually exactly the same #the cinematography choice....... blank hallways and first person pov and the SOUNDSCAPING #the dead silence with just one ambient noise in the background to make it feel off enough that you're like uhh what's happening I'm scared #the HERO of this movie and the way he only won bc he understood animals and knew how to treat them fairly #and yet he and his family still contribute to the spiraling narrative of in the way they try to capture jean jacket on film #2023 best picture winner TO ME #text post #nope 2022 #horror tag

Is it just me, or something about about TR anime at this point just feels... idk, kinda off? I mean, aside from all the discrepancies with manga, and the scenes they skipped for no reason. 😑 But somehow, even the opening feels like the song and the video do not match, it looks more like an amateurish YouTube AMV, than an anime opening. Weird. 🤔

And the pacing of this episode was just off. Randomly switching from scene to scene... I'm just getting uncanny vibes, can't really put it into words.

But in any case, the hype is real, I'm still super happy Tokyo Revengers is back, cause my life feels like it finally has a purpose once again! 🥹

I legit let out the nastiest squeal of fangirling when KokoNui showed up in that cringy opening! And I'm sooo excited to see Haru finally getting some real screentime!!! I just hope the studio does justice to his character and presents him the way he should be presented. 'Cause I am livid with the fact that that poor excuse of a failed Wednesday Addams cosplay was given some serious beauty filters, and even the "pretty boy" voice. Such a damn waste... 😑 (Yes, I am aware how much hate I'll get from all y'all Hoetani stans, but I just organically cannot stand them cowardly bitchez!)

Anyhow, we'll see how this season goes... There's still so much to look forward to! 🤞

sometimes i'm like 'i guess i'm just ultimately not particularly attracted to women' and then i see a woman i actually think is hot and i'm like OH YEA I FORGOR

don bluth’s animation style fascinates in how it is both fluid and kinda.. lifeless?? at the same time

#*deep space noises*#im thinking specifically of anastasia #which is a weird enough film in mere concept already #but ironically rasputin is the only one whofeels like he has any life to him #and i think it might be because theyre not afraid to push his expressions more? and his unrealistic facial structure helps with that #uncanniness that just comes with rotoscoping aside its definitely something abt the facial animation in particular that wigs me out i think #everyone gets pronounced wrinkles and yet their expressions feel kinda dead #they move so fluidly but the faces dont match the energy #idk

I'm not saying no one else has ever seen this and commented on it but really when you're up against this Jim is almost a positive force. Like okay whatever it wasn't seen as unacceptable "for the time"

But when I was a kid I was unaware of the racism in the song and music video for Lazy Town and I genuinely loved the song because then too(I grew up in Australia and we don't do racism like America) but even as a kid I even thought it was weird that only the black guys and animals were putting up the tent and then never seen again.

Noise Film has been selected as a Finalist at Sardinia Film Festival in the Animation competition.

Sardinia Film Festival is created and organized by Cineclub Sassariwith the collaboration of public and private institutions and takes place in from the 27th of September to the 2nd of October in Alghero on the northwest coast of Sardinia, Italy.

it's time... for the TEAM DARK FEST! 💥💥💥💥

me and @serpentineshine are hosting a little tournament to finally determine who the best Team Dark member is! this week there's gonna be goofs, bits, and even a special prize for the winner 👀

however, the most important prize of all is what awaits at the end of the festival! ...but that's a secret right now.

A blue announcement screen with scrolling text reads “SPECIAL FENSNAILZ ANNOUNCEMENT.” There’s a looping animation of Squeak the cat in the middle. It disappears, cutting to a shot of a studio space.

In the studio, SNAIL, SHINE, SQUEAK, and a VASH PLUSH all sit at a desk with a large CRT TV on it. Squeak and Vash are on top of the TV, and shelves with various items line the walls. Everyone seems to be unaware that the camera is rolling - Snail is reading the script, Shine is drinking from a mug, and Squeak is licking her butthole. Vash remains motionless.

Snail notices the camera zooming in, and throws away the script in a moment of panic. Shine and Squeak sit up to face the camera as well.

SNAIL: Coming at you pre-recorded, it’s Snail, Shine, and The Beasts!

SHINE: We’re here today to announce a special tournament we’re hosting: the TEAM DARK FEST!

SQUEAK: Eep!

VASH: weemp womp :]

SNAIL: You know ‘em, you love ‘em-

SHINE: Or hate them.

SNAIL: It’s all about TEAM DARK this week! Fellas, turn on that TV!

The camera cuts to a close-up of the TV as the screen flips on. Three shitty photos of each Team Dark member appear on the TV under the question “Who is the best member of Team Dark?” Every Team Dark member’s name is misspelled underneath the photos.

SHINE: Time for the ULTIMATE question: Who is the best Team Dark member?

SNAIL: Oof. We’re turning them against each other, huh? That’s dramatic.

SQUEAK: Meep! (HOLY SHIT)

The camera zooms out to a wide view of the studio, but zooms out much further than needed for a split second. For some reason, this is all being filmed on a green screen set, and the shelves behind the cast seem to be edited in. Not only that, but this studio is either widely over-staffed or widely under-staffed, because the boom mic is held by seven Chao stacked on top of each other. The camera zooms into a closeup of Snail before much of this information can be processed.

SNAIL: Well, it’s obviously Shadow. I told him if he won, I would get him ice cream after soccer practice!

The camera pans over to Shine.

SHINE: No way, vote for Rouge! She can carry like. Nineteen mountain lions. Give or take

The camera pans over to Squeak and Vash. Squeak points at a crude drawing of Omega that seems to say “VOTE OMEGA.” It is upside down. Vash holds a cute little sign that says “I <3 OMEGA” that he likely made himself.

SQUEAK + VASH: ?????????????? (we didn’t hire anyone to translate this part.)

Back in a wide shot, Snail and Shine stare blankly at Squeak and Vash. Squeak licks her butthole again. Vash is now Real. Someone off-screen sneezes very convincingly.

SHINE: This poll will run for ONE WEEK before we announce the winner! So little time…

SNAIL: Everyone make your vote count! The winner of this festival will have a special page in my…

An image of a porcelain snail appears over a white background as an echo-y human voice says “SECRET UPCOMING PROJECT.”

VASH: bweep bwaa :] (Yay! Prizes!)

SHINE: The final verdict will be decided by Twitter AND Tumblr, so commit as much voter fraud as you please!

Squeak bites Vash and he screams. They both fall off the TV and make a surprising amount of noise. Snail and Shine stare in shock.

SNAIL: See you in seven days! And hey, if you want to participate… tag me in any propaganda you make to fight for your favorite Team Dark member!

Squeak and Vash explode.
