You can come with me now. You can rest.
Santa Perla Guides the Weary Traveller, a painting from the Mythical Sausage collection. Something about it feels so familiar to young Hermes… ✨🌻✨

one. percy was almost luke. two. he only didn't become just like him because he had a good support system outside of the deadbeat dad shitshow. three. still, he only didn't betray his family (his mom and his friends) because his literal biggest flaw is his loyalty to the people he loves. he does not love the gods. he understands luke. he is constantly, overarching-major-theme angry with his lot in life As He Should Be. he only didn't fully go off the rails because of his support system and for his love for them and frankly. their vigilance towards him and their knowledge that he could be very dangerous. holds your face in my hands. do you get what im saying. luke didn't have anyone. he felt responsible for annabeth. his best friend got turned into a tree, dude, and then she nerfed her place as the prophecy kid by joining artemis. to him, in his mind, she was all he had and she left him! twice!. he is no more angry at the gods than percy the difference is that percy had some semblance of help. and he still showed warning signs of slipping off the deep end. this is a story about a bunch of angry and abandoned children and what they do to try to survive. and to find justice. in any way that they can. percy is so angry. he shows it. he scared the shit out of annabeth when they were in tartarus because he lashed out at a monster not just out of fear but out of helplessness and cornered animal malice. luke was seventeen in tlt and percy was seventeen (eighteen?) when he fell into tartarus. luke felt so helpless. percy did too. all the time. is this mic on

EPIC THE KNITTING SAGA AU
An AU my friend and I fleshed out a bit while chatting, where Athena and Hermes become Telemachus' god parents (pun intended)
first of all, the AU is called that cause Athena, as a goddess of arts and crafts as well as arts of war would totally knit socks and/or sweaters for Telemachus. I literally do not care that it's probably always too warm in Ithaca, it DOES HAPPEN and he PUTS THEM ON or ELSE
also, she's his great great auntie (cause hermes is the great great grandpa) DUH
and she would try to teach him crafts too, like:
Athena: think, Telemachus, think! Telemachus: BUT I CAN'T DO THIS STITCH
and then there's crying and Athena has to deal with it even though she's emotionally constipated and had definitely taught Odysseus some unhealthy coping mechanisms in his youth (and now she's forced to realize that, maybe Penelope even elaborates on it for her)
meanwhile, Hermes HATES being called grandpa (but secretly learns to enjoy it sometimes)
he's the type who teaches Telemachus all the "wrong" (read: fun) things in life, like talking to girls, playing pranks, lying out of his ass to get out of trouble, etc.
and then BOTH get in trouble with Athena, while Penelope just shakes her head at all of them.
Hermes obviously runs off, leaving Telemachus to deal with the scolding alone
Telemachus: hears giggling from behind a tree Telemachus: GRANDPA, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LEFT ME THERE! ( -`д´- ) Hermes: Awwww, now, now, champ! Don't you remember the first thing I ever taught you? Come on, gimme lesson number one! Telemachus, sighing heavily: 'Every man for himself'
Hermes gives Telemachus lessons on what Not To Do. And he gives those lessons hands on.
Hermes: I subscribe to practical learning!(´∀`)b
And that's their go-to excuse for when Athena finds them
Telemachus: Heeeeey, Athena? Theoretically— Athena, already popping a vein: What. Did. You. Do? ༽◺_◿༼ Hermes, from the bushes, with tears in his eyes (probably from laughing): He's going to the run, run Angel~
Edit: there's a second part now

btw in the books they casually drop that harriet motherfucking tubman was a daughter of hermes who travelled to and escaped from the underworld, which is stated to put her on the same level of heroism as heracles and orpheus. if you even care.

I just thought of some great Empires s2 angst.
So imagine another calamity happened, and Lizzie is the only one to actually survive(because she’s a cat and has 9 lives) and so she’s looking for other survivors, but the only person she can find is Hermes. So she now has to break the news to Hermes that his parents are gone. She brings him back to Animalia, where together they rebuild. Eventually, the ghost of Pix comes to also help rebuild because his whole thing is recovering ruins. Eventually Lizzie dies, as she can’t live forever, but Pix and Hermes continue to protect Animalia and share the story of the founder and Mayor of the great empire.
At some point, Hermes ventures out for a little while so that he can bring any survivors or supplies from the other empires. The only things he finds are the creatures that belonged to the empires, but he was able to retrieve some things from Stratos. This is before Lizzie dies, so when she is met with Hermes returning with horses, cats, frogs, dogs, llama, and much more, she decides to build a place of tribute to Hermes, not a place of worship per se, but a place where even if he disappears for a long amount of time, he will be remembered.
Eventually, the animals that were brought to Animalia become more like the other inhabitants, and the empire expands to all the ruins, slowly building them back up.
Many generations have passed at this point, the founders are long gone, but their descendants still stand. The world may have fallen to ruin, but the creatures of the land did not give up.
There are still stories of their great savior, her memory immortalized in books, paintings, and a statue at the center of the new world. The only evidence of humans left is Pix, even though he is incorporeal. The last god alive, Hermes, tells the tales of the past, along with his not-quite-undead companion, as they search the lands for new life, in hopes to keep the world alive.

subscribe to my s2 Joel is actually s1 Joel remade for many reasons but specifically now because I'm thinking about the fact that s1 Lizzie just kinda wandered off and THEORETICALLY she is think ancient thousand year old sea creature her living another thousand years is not impossible and furthermore her reconnecting with the ocean and regaining her memories is also not an impossibility methinks. So what I'm saying in s1 Lizzie memories or not wandering into the s2 time and land and she's the only merling / fin-folk that anyone has seen in centuries bordering a millennia so Joel hears about her presence fairly quick and all but has a crisis because of the separation he has put between his identity as king of Mezalea and as god of Stratos and when he meets Lizzie it is wrong because he has never been taller than her but by god its her, he thought he’d forgotten her face. Lizzie regaining her memories if she hasn't already, and meeting Hermes. I want Lizzie step mom for Hermes so bad because The Ocean Queen and the Mezalean king never got to have children and I think she would love Hermes

Since today's my bday and I don't want to cry, I'm going to post a happy au.
Jason does go with Apollo to the boat/yacht but he made it out alive(I'm pretty sure most of the fandom is in agreement that his death is a result of Leo and the seven attempting to cheat the prophecy/fate). Except now he's left wondering what he should do since as he's realized no child of the Big Three can truly leave the mythological world no matter what they try, in comes in Percy "My mom is the best" Jackson. He suggest that Jason moves in with the Jacksons or at least get adopted by Sally so that he has a semi-normal place to go to during the school holidays. Jason is bit hesitant but accepts, Percy gains another younger sibling, Thalia has the peace of mind that her brother is in good hands, Jason is experiencing the joys of having an actual normal and great parental figures in Sally and Paul, and Nico and Hazel are a little confused as to how they also got adopted but their father and Poseidon were all hounded by Hera into joining her on paying child support to Jackson-Blofis couple(many gods, including Zeus, pointed out that Jason wasn't her kid but ended up loosing that argument and it's now a staple to pay child support. It's a great way to keep track of kids and where they currently are.)

You ever think Persephone, when she came back from the underworld, was ever asked by the other gods how their favorite humans are doing?

I genuinely suspect a reason for them making them miss the deadline in the pjo tv series is that they didn't want to reveal too many of the gods so early on. That would be a lot of casting and they probably want to save the reveal for some of them later on. That and they've shown all the male Olympians, so they've given us a decent amount already

The nice thing about having two really intelligent dogs is that they watch us interact with each other and learn things that way all the time. Rest/stay is not something I've really worked on with Eevee other than at doorways and baby gates because my dogs aren't allowed to rush entries and exits for safety reasons, but we use it with Hermes in lots of different contexts multiple times a day every day and his rest is very solid and generalized. Just a few minutes ago I told Hermes to rest so I could clean something up without him getting in the way or stepping in it but without specifying that I was talking only to him and Eevee also froze in place with him, stopped moving completely, and then eventually laid down (position switching is allowed during rest for my dogs just not directional movement, plus she's baby and I didn't actually mean to tell her to rest anyway so IDC regardless) still in her spot watching me clean and didn't break until I gave her a treat and released her along with him. I was cheering mentally for her the entire time but trying to contain my reaction until I gave them their release cue so she didn't get excited and break the rest before I was done cleaning because I've never used that command in that kind of situation with her before. She's so smart and good though, I love herrrrr
#i compare myself a lot to other non-disabled dog trainers and it makes me feel like my dogs are untrained messes a lot of the time#but then my dogs do something smart every now and then that reminds me that we do actually train small stuff daily like this#and I'm like oh yeah these are still the best trained dogs I've ever known IRL esp compared to the pet people I know#Hermes especially has a LOT of stuff I've taught him forever ago when i was in better health that he still remembers now#despite a lack of refresher training for a lot of it#and everytime he does something to remind me im like... oh shit i forgot youre actually smart as fuck and pretty well trained bro#like we havent worked on Hermes' emergency down/down at a distance in a long ass time#but a couple weeks ago Selene told Hermes to down from a distance and understandably at first he moved closer to her to down#so she started to indicate that was not what she wanted and before he was halfway to her or she even finished telling him#he turned himself around#went back to the EXACT spot he had been standing in#turned around again to face her in that spot#and then laid down and waited for her to come to him with the treat#literally haven't worked on that in years and wasnt expecting him to remember it#to the point where i was about to correct selene for even asking for it when we havent done it in so long without refresher training first#and then he DID IT#i love my dogs a lot and they're smart af thats it thats the TLDR

my feelings on hadestown are that i absolutely ADORE the broadway version, i have the album memorized start to finish
however
nothing goes as hard as the version of chant ii from the live version and i am bitter they changed it
“he says he’d shelter us, he said he’d harbor me, he said we’d soldier on and that the war would bring us peace/we’re gonna count to three and then we’ll raise our heads singing ONE TWO is it true what he said??”
that’s not even getting into persephone’s verse (which is a crime that they cut)
why did they change it??? literally do not understand
