im honestly so taken aback by how much traction each of my posts get. they average 300+ notes and even reach numbers as high as 1k+ ! its wild how there is still such an active fanbase, especially when you remember that Rebellion premiered an entire decade ago...

i was thinking that its just really interesting how Rebellion is 50% fanservice and 50% plot twist but still perfectly well-written. like just think about it... the literal concept of the "Holy Quintet" just working together as one powerful unit? the epic homumami gun fight? homura brutally exploding kyubey with her mind? nagisa momoe?? HOMUCIFER??? that was for all of us in the fandom and the girlies themselves. the plot twist with homura refusing to let the Law of Cycles take her actually had so many hints sprinkled in as well (she had demon wings in the literal intro!) that its almost laughable to imagine her never making that decision to rewrite the universe to let Madoka and the other girls relive their lives as normal schoolgirls. its funny she sees herself as a devil and even plays the part by leaning into the role, but what she's doing is actually so noble and kind for the others... no witches, no wraiths, no grief seeds. even if you could say her intentions are selfish because shes basically trapping godoka in a bubble, the way she goes about it is quite loving. as you watch the movie, you can just tell how much homura loves the holy quintet and vice versa (they literally helped her defeat her own witch... that part always makes me cry). even if the narrative doesnt show it explicitly, you can just tell that they all care about each other so much.

as for the series, im still blown away how everything is just condensed into 12 episodes with literally no filler. you would think a story of this fantastical and tragic calibre would span probably at least 2 seasons and more, but nope! the way they introduce and explain the worldbuilding is also very well-timed, and because it started as an anime as opposed to adapted from a manga, all the shots aren't limited to just comic panel-like compositions. like those storyboard artists are for real cinematography gods. i also didnt realize how much of the series actually revolved around sayaka's arc as opposed to homura and madoka's main narrative as star-crossed lovers besties, which is quite interesting. aside from the expert storytelling and art direction, dont even get me started on the MUSIC. yuki kaijura's heavenly and one-of-a-kind arrangements are just one of the absolute best ive ever heard. it truly elevates the surreal feeling of the show, and it wouldnt be the same at all without her work on it. its just crazy how PERFECT of a show PMMM really is because of all the genius minds behind it...

sorry for the ramble but god damn there just isnt any other media like Puella Magi Madoka Magica and im so lucky i got to witness it and that this fandom is still active even if its been more than a decade!

gosh this ask could be interpreted in so many ways... i drew something along the lines of swapping their personalities and magical girl outfits ? maybe moemura was the one to originally be magical girls with mami, then madoka was the one to make the timeloops wish and inadvertently get traumatized with each reset watching homura die over and over hmm...

honestly i dont rly have a fleshed out idea for this swap!madohomu au but its interesting to think about !! feel free to take inspo for it if you make your own :)

confident flirty madoka x shy clueless moemura was their canon dynamic before all the timeloops you cant convince me otherwise
