This pendant is a perfect example of my love for Tumblr as an artistic business.
I love Tumblr for the fandom, the jokes, to social commentary, and the things that are just too difficult to explain to people not on this hellsite (affectionate).
But, this. This pendant. Damn.
We made these adorable little Robin Pendants with hand enameled masks and little crystals probably close to a decade ago. (Checking the OP timestamp it was December 2014).
When I originally sat down to make them I wasn't just going to enamel one of each color to see who was popular, that would have been silly. So I made a bunch of each.
In business terms, they flopped. But I always loved them.
They haven't been on our website since probably 2016 or 2018 (two big overhauls happened those years). The pendants were all disassembled so the crystal could be used elsewhere. And the Robins have been in a drawer ever since.
So why is this little pendant above so special to me and my feelings about Tumblr?
Because I took that photo today. Of a Stephanie Brown Robin Pendant I made this afternoon. Because someone found that ancient post, and commented on it that they'd love one of these. I was able to reach out and let them know it was possible. And through the magic of Tumblr we resurrected an 8 year old retired jewelry piece.
That's not something that happens on other social media sites. Once something is gone from the front page, it's gone forever. Resigned to the dustbin of digital history.
But here, here we celebrate "World Heritage Posts". We queue things like Sascha the Christmas Tiger 365 days in advance. We delight in going digging to find bits of the things we love.
And as an artist who tries desperately to make a living off of the shiny things we make, the fact that something can be found a week later, a year later, a decade later. It really is magic.
So yeah. Just going to be over here being sappy about community and jewelry for awhile.

Note
Aro culture is not opening the comments of any video where two ppl who aren't in a romatic relationship (even family members) are showing affection to each other or are referring to each other as friends...bcs yk that those idiots will interpret it as "Ooh his look says that he wanted to be more than homies" or "Sweet home Alabama" or "I think the person wanted to wrote girlfriend in the title? Bcs uhh l don't think that siblings act like this"
LIKE WHAT'S WRONG WITH SHOWING AFFECTION OR BEING KIND TO SOMEONE-

Good morning, everyone!
I am going to be MIA until Saturday because I'm heading up to New York City today! 🙌🏼
Tumblr media
First, @nicoleanell and I will be attending the 54 Below Inside show that's tonight. SO excited to hear Bo Burnham's music live in *some* capacity...and I love that they specified he will NOT be there haha
Tumblr media
I've got on my "just a girlboss building her empire" shirt, and I'm READY for a fun night out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then tomorrow night, we're seeing Daniel Sloss perform Can't at Town Hall.
Tumblr media
The last time I was at that venue was to see Flight of the Conchords in 2008, so I'm thrilled to go there again!
Tumblr media
And Daniel is SUCH a terrific comedian! If you haven't yet, do yourself a favor and watch his three specials: Dark, Jigsaw, and X.
He's DARK for sure, but oh so entertaining (and he's known Bo since their Edinburgh Fringe days)!
Tumblr media
I will be posting an article about Daniel and Bo's friendship some time in the near future, so be on the lookout for that. And keep it here for more comedy fun! ✌🏼🐔

trick or treat!
send an ask with "trick or treat!" for a fic-related surprise.
have a wip preview of modern au fluff, ft. my shameless agenda that aymeric was A Speech Kid.
For a long time she’d been used to only seeing Aymeric on weekends, a necessity of their schedules and commutes. Then of course he’d finally managed to win himself a reprieve from the constant grind of his sanity against the harsh whetstone of a civil law office—traded in for a constantly overflowing email inbox, which he swore was preferable because the remote work meant he could mutter uncharitable things aloud when the clientele got especially stupid—and he’d decided to fill his sudden wealth of free time with volunteering at the local high school, because of course he did.
Terminal fucking goody two shoes, she thought, perilously close to affection, and stretched her legs until her curled toes smushed against the wall of the tub. The warm water had finally succeeded in thawing out the early autumn cold that had settled in her bones during her adventure with the shed door, but it wasn’t like she was in a rush to get out. What was the point of owning a bathtub if she couldn’t prune herself half to death.
Most of Aymeric’s volunteering was on weekday afternoons by necessity—Tuesdays and Thursdays he’d dedicate his time to the Forensics club, which had sounded much more impressive until he’d told her that no, it had nothing at all to do with dead bodies, it was just a dusty old word for a speech and debate team. Aymeric called it Forensics because that was what the school team preferred to screen-print onto their t-shirts, and Hanami called it Forensics partly out of borrowed habit but mostly out of self-preservation, because if someone had told her at age sixteen that she’d someday willingly associate with a man who volunteered to coach a debate club she would have shoved herself in a locker.
