The main difficulty in playing Orin Scrivello is finding an equilibrium between Greaser, Mad Scientist, and some sort of Disturbing Bisexual Radio Host. But once I get that down we’ll be set
I feel like no one is talking about Phantom of the Opera playing in London this year.
It would be fantastic if there were a touring company in the U.S. that would come to Atlanta.
I don't really have any feelings towards it bc I never seen the play or the movie 😅 but I've seen some performances of the songs like this fun mash up of "In My Own Little Corner" and "Agony" by Laura Osnes, Jeremy Jordan, and Corey Cott
In general I’m pretty neutral on the West-End and Broadway CATCF musical. There are things I like and dislike about both. But something about Russian Veruca on Broadway just really scratches an itch in my brain. I can only imagine her as Russian now
wdyd when you need to sing and finish your costume for LSOH but you just cant and you procrastinate. wdyd
are you in a production? thats so rad!! well ill start by saying I know absolutely nothing, and I usually use my practice time as procrastination for other stuff so idk. but if you're looking for advice, there are a lot of ways to get yourself to practice. I guess I would suggest listening to your songs as a kind of idle way of getting them in your brain. Try getting into character, think about how you feel in the song, make it interesting for yourself. I think what made it so easy for me to practice my stuff was just falling in love with my character: giving him headcanons that made me like him better, making him a pinterest board, and a playlist, thinking about how the story works and how he fits into it. In my experience, a playlist is crucial to keeping yourself in love with your character, listen to them next to some related song you like and they become so much cooler, everybody's different tho. of course you can also get yourself to rehearse by doing it with others, you can try calling up your friends or castmates to sing or run lines with you (I would actually run lines with you if you want, that sounds fun as hell, but you asked about singing so thats prolly not helpful). As for the costume thing, pinterest boards are a good idle way of keeping your mind on it. for anything you aren't physically making you should probably set a concrete date to shop for it. or try shopping for it online. if you're making something, uh, put on music. sorry if this was useless thank you for the ask mwah mwah
Just had a Thought and now I'm curious. What's you guy's strangest comfort media? It doesn't have to be strange as in like creepy/fucked up/whatever, it can just be smthn a lil odd.
thinking again about the contrarian snob who was like "every single band in The Guy She Was Interested In is mid" and some poor soul in the replies was like "ohhh/// oh, no...... oh you do seem so wise, internet snarkatron, but please have you ever considered how much the smiths meant to my father🥺their lyrics saved his life,,,,"
and im like AAAA WHY DO WE DO THIS TO EACH OTHER...... tearing down popular things is such middleschooler behavior, whether or not popular bands make the most interesting music to you now doesn't diminish their Places in the world of music and the many other ways they can be important... its good to be able to reconsider "the classics" in any art but like. be nice about it you pretentious jackals
