multilingual study problems: when you try to figure out the thai writing of the rhetorical "right? / huh?" but only know how it's verbally pronounced. So you try to translate it from english and german to thai but translators can't differentiate between right as 'being right' or right as 'the direction' or right as 'law'. And apparently "right" can be translated back into different words in thai too depending on the meaning.... So you try to say it into the app yourself with no success. Then play a video of a native thai speaker saying it but google translator gives you again "right" in english but no clue to the meaning and in german it translates to "right / rechts" as the direction....... and then your brain comes in with "all I can offer you is something that sounds like "nespa?" which may be the same phrase "right?" in yet another language but I won't tell you which language that is."

But also neurodivergent problems because my pattern noticing brain got hooked on that word since it's James new favorite filler word which he says at least once per live stream and I find that funny.

Which brings me now to the question: does he have a dialect maybe??? Because google captures his "tcheme" as "chi him" = "right" in english but "right / rechts" (direction) in german.... T__T all I want is the Thai writing of that little word...

EDIT: I GOT IT over the japanese "desu ka" lol because with that I know 100% that it only has the meaning of "right?" so yea ใช่ไหม (Chı̀ h̄ịm) it is but that's still not how HE says it lol.... (also why is Chı̀ h̄ịm pronounced like tchaimay)

No one, absolutely no one:

me: writes “and” while writing a French paragraph, calls the Italian teacher “mom” in Vietnamese, responds to the math teacher in French, messes up the conjugation for “avoir” and “avere” and French and Italian pronouns in French paragraphs, responds in Vietnamese at school.

there is so much i want to tell about all these episodes and so many opinions i want to express but i can only do it in my mother tongue. in english i cannot WORDS.... know what i mean?

Something i don’t see being brought up a lot when it comes to english writers whose first language is not english is the struggle with sound effects.

It’s so irritating looking for the right sound for something. You guys don’t know how many time i have written a sound effect in swedish just to later realize, ‘Oh right, that is not how it’s written/sounds in english’. It’s the same noise! Why is it spelt differently!?

Every time I read a post or hear a song in Norwegian, I feel sad because I had to focus more on French and I stopped practicing Norwegian.

I am now in this german nonbinary facebook group (let’s see how long that goes well cause facebook.... and germans... lol). 

But it’s so fucking hard to write in german by now (which is my mother language!) because it’s nearly impossible to not gender in german 😭 We have “sie” for “she” but the equivalent for “they / them” would also be “sie”. I hate it here. meanwhile thai has all those neat and cool gendered and nongendered pronounce. 

Throwback to that time a prof noticed that I use male (in my eyes neutral) terms for myself in my job cover letter and stuff. He said it comes across as confident but people could misunderstand it as me not knowing how to gender correctly. Bruh....

Just caught myself saying 我 ξέρω. Caught myself, said désolé, only to realize I am in fact speaking to my English speaking friend

i found out i’ve been tagging my posts with the wrong featured tag because for some reason my featured tag uses the chinese ’ apostrophe not the english one so half of my posts aren’t even showing up under featured 🧍🏻‍♀️ this just made my rebranding 1000x harder help
