i know this episode is dumb filler but:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and what pisses me off is that we could've had THIS with him and moroha. we could've had him helping her train, taking care of her when she's ill, and just...being the father figure he wished he could've had in his life. there's this repeating theme of him seeing himself in other youkai children and taking care of them, or at least emphasizing with them. he relates. he gets it. he doesn't want them suffering the way he did. and yashahime was like "hm...what if...amazing idea incoming...he didn't get to raise his daughter? lol."

So as I mentioned before, Yashahime is not the sequel to Inuyasha that I wanted. What I really wanted was a series that has the same vibes that the bonus chapter of Inuyasha that was written around 2011. It would be a mashup of genres like the original but with more slice-of-life elements, humor and some long-term pre-established romance. It's still about the gang, they're still fighting demons, but they also have to balance that with children and being a responsible adult. It keeps the happy ending of the original, because they all deserved the happy ending. As it progresses their kids would get more and more screen time. Since there's so many characters it would more of an ensemble type thing with like Moroha as the main MC, something like Ranma 1/2 or Kyokai no Rinne. I'm going to be expanding a bit more from this headcanon post I made earlier, and just throwing plot ideas out there.
Inuyasha and Kagome get to raise Moroha because they all deserve a family especially Inuyasha. He'd give his daughter the childhood he never had, and he'd spoil his little princess. Inuyasha is also super protective of Moroha, but he also trains her in fighting with her claws and sword. Meanwhile Kagome is in charge of teaching her archery, honing her spiritual powers and reading, and compared to Inuyasha Kagome is slightly more strict. When she's a bit older she'll tag along with her parents or some combination of them and/or Miroku, Sango and their kids(mainly Kin'u and Hisui,) while they exorcise demons. They original gang rotates who they send out to work, so there's a different dynamic each time, but there's never a dull moment. Inuyasha and Miroku have their perpetual banter and teasing. Kagome and Sango are still best friends who gossip and are totally not talking about their husbands behind their backs.
One thing that annoyed me about Yashahime was that Moroha felt really OP, compared to how Inuyasha and Kagome started their series. IMO it robs her for an opportunity for growth. The story itself would be Moroha's journey as she grows up and gets stronger. She starts out inexperienced and feels inadequate next to her parents and everyone around her. At first she doesn't have any special weapons and relies on her claws and spiritual powers. Then her father gives her a sword on her birthday, and with it her youkai powers start to grow. Later on she learns how to unseal her youkai blood with the rouge, but instead of just tiring her out what if it also weakened her spiritual powers for some time. So she has to balance her youkai powers with her spiritual ones, which could be an interesting conflict.
Side note Moroha is only a year or so younger than Hisui, thus only three years younger than Kin'u and Gyokuto. They're all really close like siblings.
As for Sesshoumaru, well I don't think the treatment of his children in YH goes well with his character arc in the original. His whole arc was about learning to be merciful, protecting those who can't protect themselves, and the value of a life, which don't mesh well with his actions in Yashahime. So you could either scrap his twins, or approach their dynamic differently. They don't even need to be twins, because there's already a set of twins in the story or if their twin they'd be fraternal twins of different genders.
What if Sesshomaru found this mysterious hanyou baby in the middle of the woods? He can't find her parents so he hands her to a now seventeen or eighteen year old Rin, who now lives on her own and supports herself, by idk gathering rare plants and fungi in the wilderness. After entrusting the girls to Rin he does help her whenever he can. Rin raises the girls in the village until they're about four, at that point Sesshoumaru invites Rin and the girl to travel with him. They agree and they travel the Japanese country side as a sort of found family. Sesshomaru actually trains her to fight and control her demon powers, Jaken tries to teach her to read and Rin takes care of everything else. Sesshoumaru might be training the girl how to use a sword while Rin is off foraging for their supper. It's an idyllic life, that most hanyou children would only dream of. There's no child abandonment or any of that bullshit.
Time passes they grow closer, and start seeing each other as family. Whenever they stop near a human village Rin tries her best to make sure the girl isn't exposed to any of the prejudice that hanyou usually face, and if anyone assumes that she is Sesshomaru's and Rin's biological child they both get grossed out and will readily point out their relationship isn't like that. So we could either continue giving them a nice happy story or if you want drama I can give you that too.
The girl's biological mother is a powerful demon who fell in love with a human a noble or warlord, and they both died trying to protect her. When she's older her maternal uncle comes around to try to kill her because she's a threat to his power. Sesshomaru thwarts his attempts, and he retreats. The plot just kind of goes from there.
I've had this sitting my drafts for a long time, (i.e. nearly a year) and I do not recall where I was going with it.

Towa is very clearly the lead. Got it. She is obviously obsessed with protecting Setsuna. The entire show hyper fixates on the two of them, and their relationship with one another, while they treat Moroha like a spare part. :-/ I understand that they are twin sisters and that Towa feels guilt for “abandoning” Setsuna early on…. But Moroha is also their cousin. And honestly, those two could care less if she tags along on the days journey, or not. She’s just an after thought.
I feel bad for her. They touched on it for one singular moment, how alone she feels, and then dropped it and haven’t picked it up since. She’s never had anyone. At least with Towa and Setsuna, they have one another. They also had others, growing up. They were taken in and cared for. But, despite the fact that we know Koga raised her, it would seem that Moroha never considered him to be her dad. She doesn’t ever talk about a home, or a family. You get the sense that she grew up feeling utterly alone. As more truths about the past have been coming to light in seasons 1 and 2 of Yashahime, we see her curiosity about her parents begin to blossom and grow, but now, as of episode 7 in season 2, Moroha believes that her parents are dead. Hachi told her that they passed, (a story in which the original Inuyasha cast likely all believes) to which the girl mutters “Oh, was that the after life I saw them in, then?” with great disappointment on her face at the idea of never having the chance to meet them.
Not one single character acknowledges Moroha’s feelings, her confusion, or her grief, about her parents and the past. I’m just so confused as to why this is!! Miroku could address her as being the child of his two dearest friends, and he does not. Sango has made zero efforts to seek her out. Kohaku and Kaede are so concerned about Seshomaru’s daughters, they pay little to no mind to Kagome and Inuyasha’s kid. I’m just…. Very beside myself at the lack of character accuracy. It feels very… not what I expected.
Perhaps they are saving Moroha’s story for the next arc, after Setsuna and Towa are sorted out, Rin is saved, and Seshy redeemed….. but it still feels like very ill pacing to me, even if that is the case. I don’t like it.
Now — Don’t get me wrong. I like Towa and Setsuna. This is not an “anti-them” rant. It is merely a statement of “Moroha deserves the same respect; why is it not being given?”

I'll admit, when I first saw the inukagmor reunion I got excited. After all the bullshit Moroha went through because Sunrise said so, it seemed like she'd finally catch a break and get the love and affection that was long overdue for her. Inukag would finally stop suffering through Sunrise's and Sesshomaru's bullshit and see the daughter they should have raised all those years ago. But once the hype wore off I kindof realized there were several things....off...
1) Inuyasha not carrying Kagome on his back when they saw the girls falling from the sky
2) Kagome not recognizing Moroha on sight and asking if she really was Moroha and getting all angry faced when literally:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEY SHOULD ALREADY KNOW THATS HER
3) the sacred arrows and tessaiga reacted in the episode when Moroha flew through dimensions so why didn't they react then???
4) Inuyasha splitting up from Kagome when he should be able to track the intruders (the girls) by scent. If Moroha can remember her mothers scent, why can't Inuyasha remember his daughters?
5) on that note WHAT WAS WITH INUYASHAS COMICAL EXPRESSION AT THE END???
Tumblr media
Kagome's tearful hug was good but Inuyasha's reaction just kindof ruined the wholesome vibe. It feels less like he got reunited with his only child and more like he just got told that Shippo fought God and won.
Speaking of rip Shippo you couldn't escape being Yashahimefied. A+ for effort tho
6) the fact that the twins are even there in the first place. I know some people are happy because they showed up to give Moroha moral support or whatever, but I personally don't buy it after all the episodes where they left her alone and generally didn't care about her. Personal feelings aside, narratively this is supposed to be Moroha's moment, and it pisses me off because the summary of the next episode has Towa saving the day once again because there's never a moment where Sunrise makes her take a break from the spotlight. Even though logically Inuyasha should have been able to break himself and Kagome out of there long ago with his tessaiga. But Sunrise said no, so you'd think that the next best idea would be for Moroha to save her parents. Apparently the writers think otherwise which is like...
Tumblr media
I THOUGHT THE SHOW WAS CALLED "YASHAHIME" NOT "TOWA" OR "SESSHOMARU'S DAUGHTERS"
But that's a rant for another time
Overall the reunion was better than I expected (which still isn't great because the bar is LITERALLY in the ground). But it wasn't the reunion we deserved.

Jokes on InuKiks and Sessrinners, even if Moroha was somehow the daughter of InuKik that wouldn’t stop Kagome from raising her and loving her like her own, because lbr, we all know Kikyo would be a cold, selfish mother and it would be up to Kagome to step up to the plate. The kid might be the child of her “love rival” but Kagome’s not so petty to hate an innocent child who did nothing wrong just based on that, on the contrary she would probably love the kid right away because they’re also the child of Inuyasha, the man she loves.
InuKiks and Sessrins still keep trying to invalidate Kagome and InuKag with these kinds of “gotchas,” but it always keep backfiring on them because as an InuKagger I can just laugh and say “So? So what if Moroha was an InuKik daughter? That still wouldn’t stop Kagome from loving her and considering her own if she were all she had left.” Betcha though if the shoe was on the other foot Kikyo would be absolutely hateful and spiteful to an InuKag kid if she were still around, because contrary to popular belief in this fandom, Kagome’s the one who’s always played nice while Kikyo was the actual petty bitch.
Hi, anon!! If it weren't for Sunrise wanting to stir the pot with this "love triangle", I'd actually head canon that Kikyo would watch over Moroha and her family; kind of like a spiritual guardian. At that point, Kagome and Kikyo would have put aside their differences before the latter passes away. Kikyo knows Inuyasha and Kagome have been through so much together and she'd wanna watch over their baby from above.
But what Sunrise decided to do instead was still try to cast Kagome in Kikyo's shadow, making her sound inferior when the former has surpassed those powers. Even having Moroha say "reincarnation of a legendary priestess" say that in a VoiceOver? Yikes.
But then again, they depicted Kagome as a highly respectable/feared priestess amongst demons in other instances in this show so I thought that made up for some of the slander. Still though, Kagome is her own person and deserves respect/recognition of her own individual achievements.
You're absolutely right in regards to Kagome being kind to Kikyo and her not being receptive to it. We the audience know that Kagome was genuine in her desire to help Kikyo (despite her having "dark" thoughts) but Kikyo always seemed so apprehensive of her intentions. So that caused alot of tension between them and it was a real, real shame that Kikyo never really acknowledged what she put Kagome through. She probably thought she didn't owe her anything since she probably sensed that Kagome wasn't her biggest fan. Kagome had reasons not to be though.
If Moroha was an InuKik daughter, she would not be as spunky or effervescent. She'd probably be super subdued and tbh?? Quite boring. I love how multi dimensional Moroha is as an InuKag baby. She has parts of each of her parents' personalities and looks, making her the perfect mix. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I’m just gonna say it, y’all, Yashahime isn’t what I expected and there are elements to the series that I would have handled differently but to be honest, if I was at the helm of this all of you guys would be shitting on my version too.
My expectations–my hopes and dreams for the InuYasha cast after the end–it’s all so different from yours. I’ve read your fanfictions, I’ve seen your OC children. I respect them even if they’re not the characters that exist in my head. I respect them even if your ideas of the world after Kagome returns take three different turns than mine. This is exactly why I am urging some of you guys to brew a cup of chamomile tea and wait, at least until we have all 24 episodes of Yashahime at our disposal. I’m not the biggest fan of them, but Sunrise deserves the same respect as all of you do. And before you get all defensive and upset, don’t think for a single second that I have forgotten what InuYasha: A Fedual Fairytale did to the relationships of every InuYasha character. I feel their poor representation of InuYasha and Kagome’s relationship in the very atoms on my fingernails to this day.
Still, I have 193 animated TV episodes and four feature films to point at and criticize. And believe me when I tell you that the amount of college papers I could compose regarding the disservice that was done not just to my favorite couple, but to all of the characters that I’ve spent the past fourteen going on fifteen years of my life growing up alongside is kind of crazy. Yashahime has four episodes. F O U R  E P I S O D E S.
For some crazy reason, Rumiko Takahashi loves the cast and staff that worked on InuYasha: A Feudal Fairytale–they take annual vacations together for Christ’s sake. It sounds like Sunrise has a plan for this sequel and just because the four released episodes include elements that I didn’t anticipate doesn’t make it fair to rule out the possibility of the series’ potential as a whole. Takahashi claimed to like it and that woman is coo-coo banana crazy, but if she believes in it, I have faith too.
But something that I wanted to remind you guys about is the fact that sequels don’t happen in the Rumic World. That’s why Yashahime existing is so fucking insane to me in general. Takahashi wanted to make a new story instead of “InuYasha Two” and as a writer who tends to not be a fan of sequels myself, I know where she’s coming from. I also wanted to remind you that we are not watching “InuYasha Two” either. We have Hanyo no Yashahime. This is a series about the daughters of some characters we love carving a path sprinkled with a little bit of familiar stuff and a little bit of new stuff. The whereabouts of our favorite characters from the past (unless you’re a Sesshomaru fan, we found that guy today LOL) is the series’ greatest mystery. Sunrise is dragging us along without an ounce of remorse as the new generation uncovers it. And it’s painful, but that doesn’t make it fair to disregard the potential of an entire work so early on in its run. If you decide that the story is simply not for you and you’d like jump ship? Totally different. It’s absolutely fine. It’s expected! But if you’re discrediting any kind of potential? No way.
What’s been confirmed so far is that Moroha has little to no memories of her parents even though she knows who they are. Today we saw her grandmother ask for regards to be sent to her mom. Instead of having an emotional breakdown like we (with our 559 chapter history with Kagome) wanted, Moroha showed the largest amount of discomfort yet. She faltered, she admitted that she didn’t really “know” her mother, and scratched the back of her head uncomfortably. Nonetheless, she agreed to send the regards. This was Moroha acting in-character. Seriously, this quarter-demon is a fucking spitfire like twenty-six hours a day; she may have bared her butt to the family, but she hasn’t shown them any signs of emotional vulnerability. Two different things.
Speaking of two, I’ll fight anyone who says Towa didn’t deserve that scene with Sota. In Yashahime, Sota raised Towa for a decade. Towa was his first baby. Towa is so much more than just the daughter of Sesshomaru, she is Sota’s daughter. His baby girl. And he sees so much of his big sister in her, especially now that Towa’s departing on an epic journey to gather her twin’s memories like the shards of the Sacred Jewel. It felt nostalgic to Sota. It felt right for him to share this moment with his daughter instead of his tiny gremlin niece who jacked his credit card and came into his life a few days ago 😉. And it was positively monumental that for the first time, Towa called Sota “Papa” instead of “Sota Papa.” It was in-character for the lore of the show. Maybe not our hearts, but in the reality of the show and therein lies the difference.
Please don’t take this post as a declaration stating that you cannot be upset. Sunrise can’t make us all happy, that’s preposterous! We just need to be fair. It’s been a test for me too, in some ways, but I’m genuinely enjoying Yashahime for what it is. My blog is always going to be here for fun stupid posts, sentiments fics, and anything InuYasha. I want to continue participating in the journey that is Yashahime with my followers which is precisely why I’m encouraging you to watch the series with a calming cup of chamomile tea at your side. I’m encouraging you to remember that the main cast and main supporting cast of this sequel simply do not share the same history that we do with InuYasha and his friends. We need to acknowledge the characters for where they stand–their history with the world we’ve been shown–not where we stand.
I know it’s hard, my dudes, we miss our family. I want their safety and happiness just as much as you. But, I promise you, it’s going to be okay in the end. Kagome already told us so.

About the supposed "sessrin stans hate Moroha/Inukag shit is going on" it's obvious to say that's not true, a lot of sessriners are also inukag, but since (sadly) the loud minority of inukagers that are anti sessrin and that make the same hollow accusations as any other anti use both Moroha and Inukag to argue so that obviously result in fights between shippers and stans.
Like, at least I know next episode I will be sad as fuck and that it will be hard to see Moroha losing who was her mother figure lmao.
The same with the Towa and Setsuna new year wallpaper shit that happened like 3 weeks ago, Sessriners weren't mad with Inukagers that wanted a Moroha one too, they were mad at the ones that complained and talkked shit about the Twins (the twins, even more Towa, recieved a lot of negativity by antis that were also Inukagers, so that's why the sessrin part of the fandom became so over protective and sensitive about them)
Like, I bet if Sunrise would have done the opposite, releasing a Moroha new year pic, and Setsuna/Towa stans (surely would) complain about it then the Moroha stans would "hate" the twins as well.
We dont hate anyone, we love Moroha as much as any other Inukager, but sadly this sequel successfully managed to bring the worst out of everyone, and every side opted to generalize but I assure you all there no thing as a "Moroha" hater in this fandom. Obviously everyone has their own taste were you could like a character more than other, but Moroha is a lovable girl, just as the twins.
Im saying cuz we also saw the show, we also saw inukag struggle for like 7 seasons, we all got excited with their moments as well, but since certain part of the fandom has got a lot of negativity since last year the it's said part of the fandom would be extremely sensitive over everything, even if that means other fans hating on their favorite girl.
But yeah, sessriners love moroha too and will cry along inukagers, heck, these are the moments were I really dislike how this fandom was divided, just beacuse sessriners love that couple over Inukag doesn't mean they hate it.
Exactly, I don’t get way some people think that you must like just one, I always liked LOVED Inukag, I liked Inukik, Mirsan and of course wanted canon Sessrin in the future, AND IT’S CANON YESSSSSSS BRING THE TEQUILA 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 antis Can use Inukag and Moroha and that will not change canon, sorry not sorry.
The problem it’s that there always gonna be people jealous about another character having more spotlight and merch, in this story is clear that the twins have more focus because their origins were not clear and why did they get separated, why Setsuna can’t sleep, who raised her, why can’t She remember anything, why and how Towa ended living in the future and with whom will she stay? While with Moroha we knew that she was Inukag baby and we also hope that she will get reunited with her parents and live happily ever after (or at least me because I’m a softie and she is so cute I’m gonna die).
I will continue to ignore the twins haters angry that Moroha is not the absolute protagonist, it’s clear tho that they have never seen a spin off of another fictional piece where the focus was another side character and it shows. And I’m not saying that Moroha does not deserve to be protagonist, to me she is already, it’s just that there are many things with the twins that must be resolved.
Like Velvet, have anyone here watched Velvet? I’m still on season 4th but I know that Velvet Collection it’s about Clara and the protagonist just appear in the first 2 episodes. It’s a similar case here duh.

i’m rewriting yashahime in my head (i’m only half serious, oh also, i’m not a writer)
-i’m not keen on the idea of sessh procreating for some reason it feels ooc lmao (hello aroace king), but i think towa and setsuna are cute. it seemed like there was naraku symbolism & kagura fit nature vs. nurture, so for the sake of keeping the twins, somehow kagura is reborn, and we’re gonna say she is a half-demon. the twins are hers and sessh’s. they’re actually 3 quarter demons which i think is a cool contrast to their cousin moroha
-rin is the best older sister ever, and the apple of her father’s eye! i’m trying to think of what would be a good “profession” for her...but honestly i just want her to be happy and carefree lol. her childhood was very stressful
-i like the twins’ designs, but i haven’t thought about them much since i was never a huge sessh fan. towa is for sure nonbinary. personally, i wish their discomfort with gender norms was explored more in “canon.” setsuna, i have to think about more since they basically wrote her like a 14 yr old, less mean version of sessh, but i would wanna flesh her character out more. i think it would be cool if they were actually hisui’s age (and older than moroha by maybe a year or two?)
-once i had this thought that it would be cool if there was a time period where mixed human/demon ancestry was more common (maybe humans like sango and miroku have distant demon relatives like a great grandparent or something. can we explore this???), and something happened and it became taboo which is why inuyasha went through what he did, etc. so, there’s still discrimination over it, but things are getting better however towa and setsuna struggle because of who their “grandpa” (naraku) was. i think inuyasha (cause half-demon uncle) and rin (human who understands humans can be just as cruel) would play a big role in helping them accept that they’re not to be ashamed of their ancestry (side plot? maybe this is a side story apart from something else i talk about later in the post.)
-kohaku? he has no scar and his freckles are back! that boy has suffered enough. he still adores his sister & he is the best uncle ever! kohaku has very soft vibes lol for some reason i feel like he wouldn’t really want to slay demons after everything he went through. can we just let him rest? maybe he would become a healer of some sort. kohaku maintains a close relationship with sessh, kagura, and rin! lives with miroku and sango. maybe he is closest to his niece gyokuto?
-kingyo are BOTH alive and well. they’re both lesbians. gyokuto is spiritual like her father, and k’inu does her own thing. maybe she inherited his shady/flirty behavior? i feel like i saw a similar hc, and i think that’s cute. she’s off charming girls and that’s why we haven’t seen her
-hisui takes after his mom. he’s a sweet boy but he’s also serious. his mom trained him! he also learned some stuff from his uncle kohaku!
-miroku and sango are bicons. why is this relevant? cause i said so. i feel like it fits their characters idk why. they’re wholesome and happy because sango deserves the world. miroku is still flirty but only w/ sango because he’s matured and loves his fuckin wife. who wouldn’t? she’s amazing. also, we’re done with stupid misogynistic tropes! he never groped ppl. we are retconning that shit. kilala is also alive and well.
-miroku was the stay-at-home dad mostly while the kids were young & sango brought in some $ by doing slaying jobs, but i can see them switching it around and him bringing home $ from doing spiritual jobs. also, she is the head of the demon slayers because why wouldn’t she be? (she is the older sibling and unlike sunrise i’m aware that women can uh do something other than be wives, also kohaku’s done w/ that stuff remember?)
-they live next to kagome and inuyasha! kagome and inuyasha had their beautiful little babeeyyyy moroha who takes after both of them. inuyasha loves his child very much, and is constantly overwhelmed by a happiness he never thought he would have! she’s pretty much like a mini version of him, and kagome finds their relationship very endearing. she loves them very much! like in the show, moroha’s in touch with her spiritual powers. i think it would be cool if something happened one day while moroha was by the well, and she ended up in the present time. sota, mama higurashi and grandpa higurashi would cry and dote on her properly. maybe the plot is that she is stuck there, and inukag gotta go get her back? cue eventual kagome reunion with her family that is very emotional and makes me cry.
-random, but i think it would be cute if miroku, kagome, and kaede taught the kids who were into spirituality and healing, and sango and inuyasha taught the kids who were more into combat/slaying. i liked the inuyasha and sango friendship and the miroku and kagome friendship, so i think that’s something i would explore more
-moroha and hisui are best buds since they’re basically the cousins closest in age (i mean towa and setsuna too, but i don’t think sesshoumaru + his family would live as close to everyone)
-kingyo are definitely moroha’s older sister figures too
-i think kaede is strong and not kicking the bucket anytime soon, so she would basically be like the go-to babysitter while the kids are young & she is fine with that. when the kids were younger, inu gang still went on little day missions while kaede looked after the kiddies
-little shippo...i don’t know what to do about him. maybe we can age him at the same rate as a human would until he is done with adolescence...? so maybe he would be around rin’s age? i think his role would be like an uncle/older brother to the kids. he lives with everyone in the village, of course! also, his powers and magic have gotten more sophisticated. i need to think more about his character
-my version would be more slice of life instead of everyone being unhappy and there being another big bad that needs to be defeated...
-we can keep kirinmaru cause his design is cool. he can be toga’s spiteful ex because why not?
-maybe there is a prophecy but it came from an oracle (maybe zero can be the oracle instead of his sister) who saw a quarter demon with strong spiritual powers would defeat kirinmaru in like 3 yrs time or something (he has become too powerful and tyrannical?) we can keep the manipulation of space-time as a thing. maybe he somehow triggered the events that led to moroha being trapped in present day? (she’s the MC of my version)
-maybe a chunk of the story follows her life throughout a few years trapped in the present-era, but it explores the ways in which demons are still a part of present day japan (that way she does get raised by her parents, but also is apart from them for a period enough for it to feel like there’s a conflict (mirroring when kagome couldn’t get back to feudal japan)
-maybe we see some of our og gangs descendants (moroha enrolls in school or something)?
-kirinmaru keeps tabs on her through osamu kirin????? she figures it out idfk
-inuyasha finds out his dads ex is scared of his 14 yr old daughter? dude idk someone said toga kirinmaru exes and my brain has been like fixated on this ever since. it’s like not even relevant but i will make it relevant some how
-after tearful higurashi reunion, they all go back to feudal era and kick kirinmaru’s ass. prophecy is fulfilled (maybe well stays functioning and kagome can once again travel back and forth. i have to work out how this wouldn’t screw time up. maybe we can just close our eyes and ignore it? hehe)
-omg i almost forgot koga. idk what would happen w/ him....i feel like he would definitely be like moroha’s uncle! ginta and hakkaku are married.
-OH! kikyo? she is fucking resting in peace. please let her rest. she went through so much lol.

Alright so after five weeks not watching Yashahime only keeping myself updated through friends and Tumblr, I decided to watch today's episode as it was about Setsuna's past and it got me interested.
Overall it was a nice episode, maybe a little rushed in certain parts however not as bad as some other episodes back when I watched it actively.
Some highlights/scenes I enjoyed and caught my attention:
Seeing Shiori, always lover her character so it was really nice to see her again (even more when I am considering adding her to my future multi-muse blog)
The concept of the Hanyo Village in general, the suffering of half-demons was something always mentioned in the og series so I liked that Sunrise actually did something to improve those lives instead of leaving it as it was.
Shiori being a mother figure to Setsuna and the other hanyo children.
Jaken looking after Setsuna from afar. While I am sure that her father was the one getting the weapon and giving the instructions, most certainly Jaken took care of the rest. That please in the first message doesn't sound like something Sesshomaru would write, it's just not in his general character.
Knowing Setsuna had friends and didn't grow up all alone after the fire. Though happy it did made me confused since Setsuna had mentioned being alone much like Moroha, both ended up having been raised by other people despite the claims of growing up alone, on Moroha's case I can see it more as an implication than a true fact considering she was sold by her Master.
Seeing Miroku again and seeing him use taijiya stuff.
Setsuna being basically confirmed to have been under Kohaku's wing for two years matching once again Hisui entering the taijiya too. Makes more sense why Kohaku wanted to put them working together.
Finally getting an answer as to when exactly Setsuna lost her memories, by the information provided by this episode I would say she lost it during the fire most likely after she was separated from Towa. Still doesn't explain why she disappeared so quickly from the spot she was after the tree fell but kinda debunks my theory that someone was taking her away.
Now the parts that I didn't like and/or got me confused:
The timeline/timeskip is once again rather confusing but unlike other times we have a given number as how many years went by. Still though one thing got me puzzled: Setsuna lived with Shiori for six years, this means she was ten years old when she left to Kaede, that's four years prior to the current timeline. It's not specified how long Setsuna lived with Kaede though, just that it didn't last long because she didn't fit in and unless I somehow missed it, it wasn't said either how long it was after Setsuna returned to Shiori's village...now if one compares it to Miroku's story in ep. 13 and assumes this is the situation that led Miroku on his journey then two years must have passed either with Setsuna living with Kaede or living once again in the Hanyo Village. I'm inclined to believe in the latter but once again Sunrise failed to specify that simple information.
Setsuna's past is interesting but simple so pray tell why only four episodes away from the series (or season) ending do we learn about it??
Gaga Gozen (did i get his name right?) could and should have been a different kind of threat. Another enemy that was defeated rather easily, I know it was to show Setsuna out of control which brings me to another point, if their intention was to make a parallel between Inuyasha and Setsuna losing control over their demonic side it literally didn't need to be a copy paste from the og series since both Inuyasha and Setsuna were attacked, trapped by and killed a moth demon. Parallels can be made without recycling but sadly that has been a recurring situation in Yashahime.
Hachiemon of Awa??? Of what Sunrise?? I don't remember Hachi having that kind of title in the og series but maybe I am forgetting something.
Shiori's skin color change during her human period. Yes I know her mother was light skinned but implying Shiori's dark skin is demonic (I know her father had the same skin tone) when Inuyasha's skin, a mix of his parents' skin tone, never changed in human's night even though Izayoi was much paler is... well needless. They didn't have to leave the exact same skin tone as it probably would blend with her hair but making it all light probably wasn't a good choice, an in between tone would have been better? That while keeping Towa's red hair strand in her human night, so skin color is a demonic trait but a random red hair strand that Towa's father doesn't have isn't??
Shiori's human time is... something else. Either she got extremely lucky and only transforms into human every 300/400 years or solar eclipses are a lot more common in this world. I wouldn't put past it as a) it's a fantasy world and b) Shiori knew her human time was coming, implying it has happened before otherwise I believe she would have been caught by surprise as certainly not 300 years have passed.
R.I.P Shizu 🙏 the theme of missing/dead moms of hanyo children continues. In my opinion they didn't have to show her but didn't have to kill her either but as Miroku said human life is a fragile thing.
Knowing now that a village for beings neither full human and neither full demon exists the more I stick to the idea that giving Moroha a hella painful and lonely life was unnecessary. I think it would have been wonderful if Shiori had been able to raise both Moroha and Setsuna and the two cousins had grown up together instead. If making InuKag absent from their daughter's life was absolutely necessary then in my opinion this idea would have been better, instead we have the twins being raised by lovely people, having a place to call home while Moroha has been a slave since she was...eight? Correct me if I'm wrong...but whatever the age it's sad, all three girls deserve happiness.
Not having Miroku at all appear to be looking for his missing friends or their daughter...or at least mention them or having Shiori ask about them.
I think that's pretty much it! I don't know if I will be watching next week's episode but it seems Hisui will appear so I might take a look.

Loved the new episode! Finally, some good fucking plot. (Even if it is only in a flashback.) So happy to see Inuyasha and Kagome and Sango. I've been mostly staying out of the Yashahime tag here because I know there was a full blown war and subsequent meltdown over who fucked Sesshomaru, but now that it's confirmed Rin, I really do hope the fighting will cease. (Personally, I never once didn't think it would be anyone other than Rin. I read people's theories but Rin is just too much of the obvious choice that it simply couldn't be anyone else.)
Almost as ridiculous as the theory that Moroha is actually Inuyasha and Kikyo's daughter, and Kagome just raised her? Like what? Something about alternate pasts and timelines? Guys, it's not that deep. This is just a fun cashgrab sequel to beloved anime series. I don't think we're going to get any deep, meaningful lore out of this. Let's just sit back, relax, and have fun on the Yashahime coaster.
Also, next episode, Moroha solo? I hope so. She deserves it. Not that I wouldn't mind Towa and Setsuna being there, but we basically know nothing about Moroha except who her parents are and who she was raised by. At least we'll learn about her master and, if she was raised by Koga and Ayume, how she became a bounty hunter of all things???

So yeah, Yashahime’s first season ended last week and it was an experience. Overall my feelings are mixed, it’s nothing compared to the original manga but it’s not complete shit either. My main beef is how it kind of destroys the original happy ending, at least for Inuyasha and Kagome. The ending is perfect in terms of story telling, the themes of the story, and character development. Like those two worked so hard to be together and Inuyasha waited three years for her, and now you’re not going to have them raise their child. Come on those two deserve happiness, and Inuyasha deserves a family of his own.
So I’m just going to admit that, that when I heard that Inuyasha was getting a sequel I sort of wanted or expected a mixture slice of life slash action-adventure. Basically like that bonus epilogue with ne-no-kubi, but with the kids being older. Like the original cast's kids are just starting to have adventures of their own, and they tag along to help and make sure the kids don't make the same mistakes they did. Sometimes they meddle in their lives, or are just embarrassing, and they might even argue, but despite all that they still love their kids. In the original series that gang was like a big semi-functional family, as much as they teased each other and argued they still were genuinely friends who cared for each other and I really wish Yashahime capitalized on that. Oh well I won’t hold that against it.
So umm I think that Yashahime could of been written in a way that still mostly preserves the happy ending, but there’s still a plot and shit. First off I’d make Moroha slightly older like 15-16ish, so there’s a more of a maturity gap between her and her cousins and she ends up as the sort of “middle child” of the new generation.   Inuyasha and Kagome could of raised Moroha until she was 12-3, and they suddenly disappear without a trace. She has some knowledge of their disappearance and she knows that it’s somehow linked to Sesshomaru, who she knows is her uncle. She also knows that she has cousins, and she and Setsuna would have already known each other, but the relationship would be muddled because of Setsuna’s memory loss. Obviously Sango and Miroku take Moroha in and help her as best they can, but she still goes into debt because she’s constantly training, she buys an exorbitantly expensive weapon or two and because she’s spending money to search for her parents. She doesn’t want to be a burden on her parent’s friends so she sets of on her own. This also means she’s instantly recognized by Kohaku and Hisui, and that she’s already friends with Kin’u and Gyukoto (who need more screentime.)
Anyway the series should start out with Moroha, because let’s be honest with ourselves how many of us watched Yashahime just because of her. She already a character the audience is emotionally invested in and that should be used to the writers advantage. But she’s not going to be the only main character, because Towa and Setsuna are going to be just as important.
Speaking of character I’d have Kin’u and Gyukoto have more important roles, because they’re adorable and having them with an extremely close bond would contrast with Setsuna and Towa’s relationship. It’s free angst and good for showing how different both sets of twins are.
I’d still have Setsuna and Towa be separated, but I’d definitely have Rin around raising them until the fire. That way she has a more active role in her daughter’s lives and then she would get sealed away trying to protect them or even Sesshoumaru. I’d make it so Rin choose to be sealed in the tree for a good reason.  Setsuna would still lose her memories and Towa would still remember both her sister and their mother. Which would give a little more substance to the conflict and give Towa multiple reasons to stay in the past. Not only does she need to restore Setsuna’s memories she also has or wants to find their mother. The girls would also know their father, and maybe Towa could have a few memories of them being all together. Sesshomaru wouldn’t be that close to his daughters, it would be more like when someone’s parent is in the military or is away for months at a time. (That dynamic is really hard to describe, but you’re close to them, but not really because they’re only like a part time parent.)This way Towa would love her father, but at the same time she resents him because he wasn’t always with his family and he wasn’t there for them when the fire happened and his family needed him.
So Kirinmaru and Zero are still the strings that tie all this together into a neat package. Sesshomaru convinces Kirinmaru to leave his brother alone. Which is how Inuyasha is able to raise his daughter, but he’s only able to convince for so long before Inuyasha gets sealed away.  Which circles back to Moroha.
Yeah these are just some rough ideas, I might post more later because this is just the tip of the iceberg that is things I would change about Yashahime. Actually I might take these ideas and make them into a fanfic or something. It’s been ages since I wrote fanfic and even longer since I wrote any Inuyasha fanfic but It’s sure tempting. Or I could take the slice of life concept I mentioned earlier and make that into a fan fiction...because do I have plot ideas for that. Or both is good. I have to learn to focus on writing but eh.

Things I want from Yashahime please and thank you:
I want a Setsuna and Moroha friendship, those two would make awesome friends or even best friends their chemistry with one another is very nice.
Hisui to interact with the trio a bit more mainly Moroha because it'd be weird not seeing Sango and Miroku's son not interacting with Kagome and Inuyasha's daughter in some way shape or form.
Towa and Moroha goofing off at least somewhat. I mean come on Towa is tough but also kinda a goofball in an adorable way and having her goof around with Moroha would be awesome.
Towa and Setsuna bonding, please gimme it I need it like I need air.
Moroha bonding with her mom's family. The girl needs it for real.
Bonding between the trio of girls because friendship hell yeah.
Koga. Just I wanna see Koga at least once please he's a good guy.
THE KIDS REUNITING WITH THEIR PARENTS, BECAUSE DAMNIT TOWA, SETSUNA, MOROHA AND HISUI DESERVE IT AND I'LL DIE ON THIS HILL-
Some information on Moroha and her past because she's one of the most interesting characters in this series so far and I'm curious as to who raised her and where she'd learned her mannerisms because lowkey they remind me of a few characters from the original and it's honestly killing me I need to know.
Character growth for all of them. I wanna see these four beautiful dumbass kids grow and learn and become even better than they were before.
That concludes my insane ramblings, sorry in advance for it and hope you have a wonderful day.

A (wind)blast from the past...
So.. lets talk about Dobson and anime.
No, I am not meaning in the way that I am going to dissect his biased spiteful opinions on Japanese animation and comic culture on general (believe me, we are going to get there one day) but in regard of something that even got me by surprise when I learnt of it the day before.
You know Rumiko Takahashi? Mangaka of work such as Ranma ½, One-Pound Gospel, Mermaid Saga and most famously Inuyasha? Not only is this woman one of the most popular and richest mangaka on the planet with multiple awards under her belt (including the Grand Prix de la ville d'Angoulême in 2019) but if you know anything about Dobson at all, you know that she is one of his idols. Meaning of course he plagiarized her wacky tone of humor, certain characters and overall style in his earlier works, primarily Formera and Alex ze Pirate.
Honestly, growing up with Ranma ½ myself (and being disappointed in the ending even today, though the ride was entertaining) I can confirm just how much he was “inspired” by her. Be it by the fact that Perry the Pirate acts like Happosai if he had the genes of Brian Blessed halfway split into him, that most of the wacky sledgehammer humor his characters can engage in is way too similar to what Akane Tendo would do, to Altea being everything Miroku from Inuyasha would be, if you removed his redeeming qualities.
Tumblr media
Well, here is the thing: Although Dobson likes her work, for reasons he never elaborated on, he can’t stand Inuyasha.
Tumblr media
Which I assume is related to the manga being less “wacky” than Takahashi’s previous work (though she did also write darker stories like Mermaid Saga before that) . I can’t however say so for certain. All I know is that the manga (in my opinion) ran for longer than was necessary and that Naraku got off easier in a way than he deserved, even if he was killed by the end of it all, which are like two major criticisms I can think of.
Tumblr media
That said, I would be lying if I said I did not adore Inuyasha back in the day and see why other people liked it too. It was one of the first manga I followed regularly and while I can look back at it and see all the cheese to it, I genuinely liked reading the adventure of Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo, Sango and Miroku, with Sesshoumaru, Jaken, Rin and Kouga as flavor adding side characters. I have fond memories of listening to “Change the World”, I still own the third movie on DVD cause I really like it and the anime and manga is always good for a read down memory lane. But I digress. This is not about me self indulging into my weaboo past, this is about Dobson potentially changing his opinion about Inuyasha soon.
Why? Because it gets the Korra/Boruto treatment now. In short, there is going to be a girl centered sequel.
Tumblr media
To elaborate: Last month (May 2020) it was announced that Sunrise, the same studio that did the first Inuyasha anime adaptation, would release around autumn (though that is more or less an estimate) a new series by the title of “Hanyou no Yashahime”, which roughly translates into “Yashahime: Princess Half Demon”. And not just that, Rumiko Takahashi herself will work as character designer on it and anime scriptwriter Katsuyuki Sumisawa, who collaborated with Takahashi on the scripts of all Inuyasha movies and has credits on many other popular Shonen Anime of the 80s, 90s and 2000s, is in charge of scripts.
Tumblr media
Here is a link describing a bit more about the show
And here is a description of the plot, courtecy of livechart The daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha set out on a journey transcending time!
In Feudal Japan, Half-Demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.
Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister.
Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.
I am not gonna lie, I am baffled, excited and a bit concerned about this. Baffled because it has been over a decade since the manga ended and half a decade since the plot was also wrapped up in animated form. Add to that also the fact that this is the first time Takahashi actually does a sequel to one of her previous works and it is quite a surprise.
Then obviously, I am excited as someone who liked the original story and I kinda want to see where this is going, even if I was okay with the story ending in the first place. See, I am one of those people, I do not need endless continuations of some plots because I have nothing else going on in my life than one work of fiction I can never let go off and call others nazis if they do not agree with me mindlessly consuming it (*cough* Start Wars *cough*)
And Inuyasha is one of those things where I was overall still happy with the end. Ater all, Kagome and Inuyasha together, the villain defeated, Kohaku back to normal, Sango and Miroku busy being parents. YAY! So I do not need a sequel outright.
In addition, I am not necessarily a fan of the entire “sequel series about an offspring of character X” hook that Naruto for example went for with Boruto, because it feels like just doing the same shit over again with a new paint job instead of trying something slightly more original. That and quite often a sequel is only possible by the writer going for “happy end override” where the struggle our original heroes went for is essentially made pointless and their happy end taken away, so that a new conflict for the sequel can even happen. (again, Star Wars, or as one example in videogames that really stunk for me, Golden Sun for the DS).
Which are in the end the things I am actually worried about. That this sequel may turn the end of Inuyasha more tragic than it needed to be. But hey, we still have till autumn. So who knows, perhaps the show will be quite upbeat in its own way. Hopefully at least as “good” as the original. And if not, I can still perhaps enjoy it in a “so bad its good” way.
But independent of how I may perceive it, I am curious if Dobson, that is, if he even hears of this thing existing, will be interested in it. may do so. After all, on one hand it would be a sequel to a work by his favorite mangaka, who he likes so much, he feels even guilty about inflating characters by her.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, he does not like Inuyasha for never really elaborated reasons.
Then again, this will be a sequel involving the offsprings of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha. And knowing his boner for lesbians that went so far as to hint he looks regularly even on incestuous shipping art for the characters of Frozen…
Tumblr media
Who knows? Perhaps this will “cure him” of the notion that “homosexual shipping” in anime is creepy and he will join the group of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha shippers via offspring proxy (sarcasm).
Tumblr media
After all, it is”less” creepy when they are cousins, aren’t they? And even if it is “incest” it would still be progressive because it would be two girls. And even if they are not going to kiss and cuddle like the precious tiny little lesbians Dobson likes to imagine a lot of women as, he can still ship them because there is nothing wrong about shipping, as long as he does it.
Can you tell that I am not a fan of his hypocrisy?
Look, in all honesty, I am curious what he would think of the show and how he would “perceive” it. Primarily because it may give additional insight in how far his hatred for anime as well as his lesbian obsession goes.
And on a geekier note to end on,, are Towa and Setsuna supposed to be Sesshoumaru’s daughters? Congratulations on getting busy, you old white haired pretty bo- Wait. They are half demons. Sesshoumaru mated with a human. But the only human he ever even showed a slight level of affection to was…
Tumblr media
 Oh…. oh, no!
youtube
For the love of god, please let her have been aged up enough! I know she was already aged up in the last chapter of the manga, but considering he was like her father figure... well, that is if Rin is the mother, but... come on, who else?

Did you see there's going to be a new spin-off of Inuyasha? About him and Kagome's daughter *tears*
YEAH. I am cautious leaning toward pessimistic about the new sequel, especially after finding out InuKag are missing in action. My sincerest hope is that it ends with a reset, so InuKag get to raise their kid from the beginning and Moroha doesn’t grow up alone (after what Inuyasha went through as a child, knowing his kid grew up alone too would tear him up inside).
I know and trust they’d never be anything but wonderful parents, so obviously something forced them out of Moroha’s life, and after all they’ve been through, I hate the idea of them not being able to raise their own child. They deserve that 100% happy ending.
Well, if it’s not good, I can just say it’s not canon because Takahashi didn’t write it lol.
Being said, Moroha’s design is so perfect. I always disliked how many Inukag kids just looked like a clone of Inuyasha, so I am glad the girl doesn’t look like one parent dominated the gene pool. We don’t have a color scheme but she appears to have dark hair. Will be interesting to see eyes. I am guessing they will be amber like Inuyasha’s. She has Kagome’s kind features but some of Inuyasha’s fire in her expression.
(People keep drawing Moroha with white hair even tho it is so clearly shaded darker than that of the actual character with white hair (Towa). Even when presented with a character that seems to be a pretty even mix of her parents, people try to make her an IY clone... )
I love that she has both a bow and arrow and a sword. That makes my heart warm.
Still, Rumiko DID design Moroha, so even if I don’t end up liking the show, I accept her design as canon and am very glad my long time OTP had a baby girl.

About Hanyou no Yashahime, episode 5 (and in general, really)
*Spoilers inside* . . .
You have been warned. There are spoilers in here!
Moving on.
I feel like I was Miroku-baited because of the episode 5 preview clip. I thought Miroku would really be present in the episode and that we’d finally get some answers about the og characters and what happened to them. </3 That was so darn disappointing, because I waited the entire week to watch this episode expecting to finally have some connection to the characters from Inuyasha, and get some answers to their whereabouts, but it didn’t happen...
I'm feeling like this anime separated the kids from the parents and og characters/story SO much, yet at the same time uses nostalgia from them in this series, that it gets confusing at times. I'm struggling to relate to the girls. I do love them, they are all really amazing, and Moroha is EVERYTHING I would have expected as Inuyasha's and Kagome’s child, but my heart can't fully connect to these wonderful girls. I feel like I am expected to love them because they are Inuyasha/Kagome and Sesshomaru/Rin(?)’s girls, but at the same time, I am also expected to love them because of what they do and who they are separate from their parents and not even want their parents there, and as I said, it can get confusing, because the show really hasn’t given me much of a strong enough background on the girls to really care without it depending on their connection to their parents, but at the same time, their parents are just passing mentions and that’s it? They have no connection to them, they weren’t raised by them, and they don’t even know them! I have a theory about this, but hear me out first. There are just so many things...
Why aren't Miroku and Sango AT LEAST in the picture? Kohaku is involved, and so is Hisui, so where are their parents?! And where are Kagome and Inuyasha? There are so many questions, and it keeps piling up with no answers, and it gets so weird how the other characters keep acting like normal. Like, we had Myoga in this episode and he seemed so normal talking about Kagome and Inuyasha in front of Moroha, who, apparently, has no idea who the heck her parents are! Which made me have to discard the “Something happened to Kagome and Inuyasha” theory, because surely Myoga would have found out? And also with Kaede; she raised Rin after the events of the original Inuyasha series (*I am always assuming Rin is the mother of Setsuna and Towa, I think it’s pretty obvious by now even though it has not been confirmed solid in the anime), and she was also very close to Kagome. Like, how come Kaede doesn’t mention anything? She mentioned about never seeing Sesshomaru again after she saw him with the twin babies, but she doesn’t mention Rin (we know at least about Rin, but Kaede? Does Kaede know?) or about Kagome, or Sango... And more importantly, she compared Moroha to Kagome in this episode, but it’s pretty clear she doesn’t know Moroha is Kagome’s daughter?! (Based on the Japanese, not sure what the subtitles said, but she said in Japanese that Moroha was a lot like Kagome when she ran off like that. Or maybe she knows, but it felt kinda vague?). Kohaku and Setsuna and Hisui didn’t seem to know about Moroha being Kagome’s daughter either, so, what even happened?! Why didn’t Moroha live with her parents? Surely she did for some time, because she can do Inuyasha’s attacks, and she has a special demon sword of her own, and she has that shell with the blood to become “beni-yasha”. Surely she spent some time with her parents until a certain point...
Honestly I spend this anime all the time saying "what's going on?!" I know there will be a great explanation inside the series--there HAS to be--because Rumiko Takahashi is a master storyteller and she is involved in the production; there must be a plan. Because she wouldn’t allow a train-wreck to run with the name of her beloved series Inuyasha. (Btw, talking about Rumiko’s involvement, anyone else think that Towa has a resemblance to Nanoka, from the MAO series? <3). There must be a plan that’s going to blow our minds, and I’m just being really impatient... At least that is my hope, because we’re in episode 5 now, and I would have thought that by now we’d have more answers to really get the fans emotionally involved (at least we have some answers about Rin, which in my case, that’s what’s keeping me emotionally invested in the show, Rin’s fate), but we don’t really have much yet... I’m thinking of doing a rewatch of all the episodes out so far, to see if I catch something I missed.
So far, I'm just confused with everything and keep wondering where this anime is even going. I feel like it’s also really toned down (it’s more for kids than Inuyasha was), which was a bummer too. It's been a fun series, though. But kinda confusing and a bit random.
I think it's the dream butterfly's fault. That's my speculation. Somehow, Moroha’s memories of her parents were also stolen, and everyone else is also affected somehow. Because surely they wouldn’t be acting so normal if Inuyasha, Kagome, Sango, Rin (we know where she is now </3), and Sesshomaru are missing. Also I haven’t even heard of Jakken. I hope I’m just acting impatient and something mind-blowing is coming.
I knew from the get go that Yashahime would never compare to Inuyasha. Inuyasha was a masterpiece, and it would be incredibly hard to top that. It would take a labor of love and passionate dedication to create something as masterful, and I feel like today’s anime industry is suffering a lot, so I didn’t think it was possible they would give it heart and soul and blood to this story to make it a comparable masterpiece to its predecessor--even giving it complete heart and soul it could be hard to make something so special. (And I’m sure they’re giving it their all, don’t get me wrong about that, I’m just commenting on how the industry is suffering and today’s anime is not the same as it was. A lot of it isn’t, and it’s not the animators or actors’ fault). But I expected something more intense as a sequel to Inuyasha. Something more heart-wrenching and soul touching. Perhaps a sequel focusing on Sesshomaru this time around would have been better than what we’re getting, but it is what it is. And as I said: I don’t hate it. I’m enjoying it, but there are just so many things that I wish were different. I feel like they kinda ruined things somehow, by removing the girls SO much from their parents, to the point that they didn’t even get the chance to interact with them. Kagome didn’t get the chance to be a mother to her daughter? And Rin didn’t get the chance to have her own family with her admired and beloved Sesshomaru (trust me I didn’t see this one coming! But now that it’s like this, I coudn’t ever see it any other way! Than Rin pairing up with Sesshomaru. Honestly, the girl deserves him. You can see they were each other’s worlds in the previous series, so it makes sense.) We didn’t get to see Inuyasha as a father, or Sesshomaru as a father, either... I feel robbed about that, and disappointed, as a fan of Inuyasha, but I know that if Rumiko is involved, there has to be an explanation and it has to be REALLY good. I’m just going to be here trusting her judgement and expecting a killer plot-twist. I’m probably being impatient.
