I was wondering if assassins in modern au weren't assassin and just lived like normal people what was their job?

Hi, nonny. I'm doing good. Just found some time to rest up after all the moving and unpacking XD

Oooohhh, I like this ask, nonny, but Imma cheat a bit and use a lot of my answers from the modern-day fic I wrote last year XD

Altaïr

I think this will depend on how much you want to reference Altaïr’s upbringing in AC1.

If you want an almost beat-by-beat reference, Altaïr will be heading some kind of PMC that he ‘inherited’ from his foster grandfather. He’s born into the family business and it’s the only life he knows. Reading about new tech helps make the PMC always be up to date with their equipment but Altaïr usually reads any kind of scientific advancement on his down time.

If you want to give him more freedom to choose his own path, his scholarly nature would make him a job in the field of science or history (with philosophy being a favorite hobby of his)

History: more on archaeology who mainly does fieldwork, sometimes goes to conventions and symposiums to talk about his team’s latest finds. His journals detailing each day when he’s in the field are usually published and a lot of people in the field enjoy reading his thoughts… even if he sometimes gets off track and there’s suddenly a drawing of the person he loves in one of the pages…

Science: owner of a privately-funded research and development company (might even have funded it from the inheritance he got from his foster grandfather) and actually leads one of the teams. The company focuses on researching and developing new tech that would make life easier for everyone although Altaïr does have a notebook filled with the deadliest ideas for weapons that he doesn’t really have any plans to make.

Ezio

Definitely born into a rich family that operates one of the oldest banks in Italy and he’s being trained to be a COO. Would have summer jobs in one of their banks.

His passion though lies in the arts and he would paint whenever he needs to relax. His parents agreed for him to take art classes because they want to support him (and Federico is meant to inherit the business anyway).

He meets his best friend in art class and they start a friendly competition of painting the same thing.

His friend is the one who gets recognized but that’s fine with him. He paints because it relaxes him, he’s not there for the spotlight.

Their banks would have framed paintings of his and he still paints as a hobby.

He mostly works for the family bank as a foreign representative, going to other countries to help out a new branch, train the new management, and sometimes talk to possible clients and partners.

Ratonhnhaké:ton

His father wants him to inherit the family business but he decides to take over his mother’s job as the representative of their tribe and the usual liaison that talks to outsiders.

His mother is currently a judge in tribal courts.

He also works similarly to a park ranger and would check their lands regularly, making sure nobody trespasses or hunts in the nearby forests.

The Kenways:

Edward married a socialite named Tessa Kenway a few years after the death of his first wife.

Before that, he used to be a captain of a freight ship. With Tessa’s money, he started his own freight shipping company.

He’s now retired with his son taking over his company and lives with his wife in Kenway mansion. He sometimes visit his son and grandson to annoy his son and to just ‘hang out’ (“Isn’t that what you kids say nowadays?” “… yes. I suppose so?””) with his grandson.

His oldest daughter (from his first marriage) ran away from home after they tried to get her engaged to a rich dude, Edward knows she’s living with Mary and Anne, two old buddies of Edward during his freight ship captain’ing days and visits sometimes. He didn’t tell Tessa though (it was Tessa’s idea to marry her off) because he doesn’t want things to escalate and Tessa has a suspicion that he’s having an affair with Mary or Anne (or both!) while Haytham learned that his sister is fine and living her best life when he tried to catch his father cheating for his mother.

Even in a modern day AU, the Kenways will still have drama. Them’s the rules.

Desmond:

Ran away from a very isolated community that may have been cultists or just really ‘we don’t trust the government’ kind of hippies. Desmond likes to joke both.

Works for a bar that has a new owner who isn’t afraid to try out new things.

Desmond thinks he’s flying by the seat of his pants but his heart is in the right place so Desmond tries to be supportive.

Also… he was given the go signal to adjust the drinks menu and make new drinks so that’s an automatic ‘that’s my boss and I support his decisions!’ for him.

Shirley Templar is his signature drink. He’s other signature drink is “Desmond Take The Wheel” which is just him preparing whatever the hell he wants for a customer who cannot take back the drink because that is what they ordered.

Shay:

Used to work for a freight ship with his dad being his captain together with his best friend Liam.

Hope works as a logistics support for the company they work for and also a radio operator when things get hectic. Shay and Hope may have been flirting on the radio for a while (much to his father’s amusement).

The company they’re working for started making really bad decisions after the owner lost his wife and son. Liam was transferred to another freight ship to be its captain and, during just a routine job, they got hit by a massive storm too far off the nearest coast which they wouldn’t have hit had their course not been switched an hour before their departure.

Shay’s father and a lot of the crew died that day and Shay blamed the owner because the route was approved by him. He refused to settle and lost with the cause being given as damnum fatale.

Haytham scouted him soon after and he was a captain first before being elevated to Head Logistics Officer.

Arno

He owns a cafe that once belonged to his uncle (not related to him but was a close friend of his father).

He’s been arrested for disorderly conduct (he was suppppeeer drunk and his longtime girlfriend/childhood friend just broke up with him) but the officers pitied him so they just let him sleep it off in one of the cells. The dude on the other cell started singing along when Arno began to sing sad love songs. Both of them were drunk though so they made the police officer giving them an easy time… well… a hard time.

He uses the profit he got from the cafe he inherited to buy more establishments.

He’s now focused on learning how to make a bar profitable… by buying a bar.

Jacob

He was the one in the other cell. He got into a bar fight but he wasn’t that drunk. The officers heard the fight happen because some slurs about Jacob’s sexual preferences were shouted by the other dude so the officer just left Jacob with a warning.

He’s actually the owner of a small orphanage and has an out-of-school youth program that usually helps children from high-risk areas. All of this is funded by his family (to be more exact, his sister).

He has a degree in pediatrics and this is his dream job.

This might (if the rumors were true) have been because he had been an unwitting accessory to a tragic fire as a young man that led to the death of children.

He has an adopted son named Jack.

Evie

Doctor, got top marks in her batch, and continued their late father’s job as a concierge doctor. She took over her father’s patients who are all quite wealthy (including the Kenways).

On her vacations, she would join her long-time boyfriend (“You married yet?” “No, Jacob. Jayadeep and I believe-” “Yes, yes, if it happens, it happens, blah, blah, blah.”) who is part of Doctors Without Borders.

She’s officially the head of the Frye family which she inherited from their father but she always gives Jacob his share (“So you’re still a trustfund baby.” “Pretty much, I guess. My sister loves me… as long as she doesn’t have to hear about my latest dumb stunt.”) while also donating a lot to his orphanage and program.

There are rumors that it’s a money laundering thing but that’s unfounded.

Bayek

The police officer who had to suffer thru Arno’s drunken singing of his ex’s beautiful flaming hair and Jacob’s sulking.

Almost always gets the graveyard shift so his fellow officers can go home and spend them with their families.

Used to be married, and had a divorce after a hit-and-run killed their only son, he still has a picture of his family on his table and everyone knows he still loves his ex but the death of their child was too much for both of them.

His ex may or may not be part of the government’s secret intelligence gathering bureau… maybe. Bayek does not know and does not want to know as he doesn’t want to risk her job in any way IF she was an actual spy.

Layla:

Still works for Abstergo and still has a feud going on with Sofia Rikkins.

Kinda friends with Lucy and Daniel Cross, enjoys adding chaos to annoy Berg if she knows she can get away with (or make someone like Robert take the fall).

Likes to drink in Desmond’s bar (technically Arno’s) and always takes the “Desmond takes the wheel” option.

Okay, so these ones aren’t Assassins or Hidden Ones (officially) but I kinda felt bad leaving them out since I wrote about Bayek.

Kassandra

MMA fighter who came from a military family.

Had a falling out with her stepfather when she was young and she left. It’s not clear if she left on her own or if she was kicked out and she doesn’t like to talk about it.

She only talks to her younger brother although her mother is trying to mend broken bridges… it… isn’t really working… unfortunately.

Her brother is in the army per the traditions of their family and she always worries about him.

Eivor

Spokesperson for her foster brother and working to help out for his reelection at the moment.

Her passion is in poetry though (and drinking everyone under but that’s more of a pastime) and she’s working on compiling her poems into a book. Her poems are quite beautiful but tend to be on the side of trash-talking certain types of people.

It took months but the ravens/crows around the area of her home now recognize her and would leave trinkets as a thank you for always feeding them.

Note: not a lawyer so I’m not sure if damnum fatale can be used for Shay’s part but Imma wave my fanfic writer card.

AC Men using peel off masks (while the ladies are watching and laughing at them.)

Altaïr: Pfft, he doesn't understand why the others are screaming and hollering while peeling this stuff off. It's like a walk in the park for him....that is until he realizes that some of the stuff got in his eyebrows and then he is just thinking "well, fuck."

Ezio: "GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!" Poor man is in tears, because it's all in his beard and sticking to the strands of hair that fell loose from his ponytail. And it hurts. Claudia is trying to help him, but he keeps pulling away so it took Leonardo and Mario to pin him down while Claudia is ripping the mask off of him like a bandage. Meanwhile Leo is not helping by being all like "Now you know the real peice of beauty, huh?"

Edward: Kinda in the same boat as Ezio, except he is a little more tolerant to it. He legit says "ow" maybe once or twice because the mask stuff is also somehow in his beard and sideburns. But it wasn't that bad.

Haytham and Connor/Ratonhnhaké:ton : Kaniethtí:io overheard him say that there was no possible way that using a "simple" face mask cleanser was that painful, and that everyone is overreacting. So, she slapped a good amount on his face and told him "You're going to wish you never said that." Though she also did the same to Connor just to see who will last longer before the stinging of having their skin pulled by the mask becomes too much.

Haytham is making faces and funny sounds as he's trying to be gentle and removing the dry mask off, while Connor isn't even batting an eye (it also helps that he was smart and used a bandana to cover his hair before allowing his mom to put the stuff on his face.) Haytham finally conceded and allowed for Kaniethtí:io to finish off the rest while Connor was watching with an expression that was a mix between amusement and smugness.

(Might do a part 2 to this, to include the rest of the AC men once I try to think of more things to write.)

Assassins Creed Headcanons because I can

-Despite denying it adamantly, Evie still does have a crush on Ezio Auditore (it’s not as much as when she was a girl, but it’s still there)

-the tips of Evie’s ears also blush when she’s embarrassed, Henry finds it adorable

-Jacob somehow hid the fact he got drunk when he and Evie were hunting for the Koh-i-noor

-Ezio’s banged at least one nun in his lifetime

-Connor has a habit of apologizing to people when his large stature startles them

-who among the assassins would listen to Jimmy Buffett and why is it absolutely Edward mf Kenway

-Haytham has fallen off a few roofs by sheer accident and Connor loves to remind him (much to his annoyance)

-Evie actually does have a tattoo, Henry is the only one who knows

-Jack the Ripper is a Sage, and the founder of the Instruments of the First Will (he had associates in Syndicate, remember?)

-Arno 👏 adopted 👏 Léon

-both Jacob and Evie have kids and those kids are the most chaotic cousins alive

-Shay actually hates the color green

-Shay’s middle name actually came from his grandfather (who was named Patrick), his father’s name was Killian

-everyone thinks Evie’s all elegant and graceful but Jacob’s seen her fall off many roofs (more than him, he’s been sworn to secrecy)

-everyone thinks Jacob is the evil twin, (he’s just impulsive) but it’s actually Evie (no one believes him and he wants to scream)

-modern day Altair went through an emo phase

-Arno can walk on his hands

My Ziio fixation has returned with a vengeance lately so indeed I’m having a fun time

Lemme share some headcanons for today methinks (some may or may not relate to my personal ac3 adaptation)

Undiagnosed adhd. Like she has big time adhd but not many successful ways to channel it n she stimulates herself most with her hands (rope work, making snares, beading, twirling or doing whatever with her knife, fiddling w the hem n fringes of her clothes etc)

In her heyday in modern au she’s definitely a punk

She got her freckles from her dad

Her combat greatly incorporates rope work and she’s a bit of a traps expert (the affinity for ropes later is subconsciously mirrored with Connor’s use of the shengbiao/rope dart)

Getting this out of the way, her thing with Haytham was a one night stand and they didn’t make any plans to move in together or start a new life (she found his journal and realized he’s . Kind of a weirdo Templar) . Sorry Forsaken. (Also probably moving the kiss out of the cave temple for personal ick reasons)

She grew up very “one of the boys” ish. Lovessss wrestling n making competitions of things and hates losing. Probably also “the weird kid” if you wanna put a modern lens on it.

She was hell to raise by Oiá:ner. She’s very headstrong and it’s hard to reel her in/she wasn’t sure what to do with Ziio half the time. Their relationship gets more strained as she becomes an adult and as the war starts though, but they still have a very strong bond and love for each other despite everything. In the end they both care so much about safety and protecting each other.

Oiá:ner sees way too much of Ziio in Ratonhnhaké:ton. Especially in his pursuit of risky/radical change and calling to outside the village

Don’t wanna give away too much yet but the Southgate Fort captives-freeing mission is VERY different and sets Haytham more at odds with her

Loud snort-laughter

It was very difficult for her to re acclimate to a more secure (mundane) life in the village when she finally came back home and secured their safety in the 7 years war. It just. Feels wrong not doing anything. Not making change. (Made harder by the fact she’s barred from becoming a clan mother)

Her and Kanen’tó:kon’s mother are close friends (maybe cousins?), and Ratonhnhaké:ton was raised by em after she died

Polyglot (multiple indigenous languages since she had to help rally non-haudenosaunee forces for the prologue, English, and French. Has no respect for the French language)

Has a tendency to save others before saving herself (Connor unknowingly repeats this— due to survivor’s guilt based in trauma, and so the cycle repeats)

Born some time in the winter (I’m thinking December? December 14 or something. Which makes her a Sagittarius I guess go figure.) I also intend this to be a callback to her name and how I associate her with snow since her most memorable scenes take place during that season in that weather imo

Big appetite high metabolism I got no reason tbh

Has two separate books within her in the aftermath of the prologue— one specifically for teaching Ratonhnhaké:ton English and one to record her own thoughts and feelings in like a journal.

She figures with how the world is changing with further interactions with colonists that her son should learn English sooner than later as a means of protection as well as being an inevitability on her eyes

But also yeah Haytham having a journal and learning abt his ulterior motives is. A lot. But when she meets Achilles and he recommended her be able to vent somewhere when things become too much he recommended a book like that of sorts so yeah (and that’s probably what Connor was reading in the beginning of his sequence— maybe he mistook it for his English-book n was trynna do his mom proud n accidentally found Haytham lore instead)

Connor learned to swear from her at a young age and she . Did not. Anticipate that or meant to do that.

A lot of the times she feels super unfit to be a mother. She was a good mom tho

Mind sharing some Ezio, Ziio, Shay and Edward Hcs?

Sofia and Claudia got along like sisters (idk I think this might actually be canon).

Ezio encouraged Flavia to be spirited and curious, and sees himself in her and the way she takes care of Marcello. If Ezio had lived to see her to adulthood, he would have been protective but let her choose her own husband.

Ezio wanted to keep his Assassin activities a secret from his children. After he died, Claudia took them in and trained them herself the way their Uncle Mario did for them.

Ziio and Oiá:ner's interactions became stilted after the birth of Ratohnhaké:ton. There was no doubt that the love was there, but Oiá:ner could not quite look at her the same again, and she had to busy herself with finding someone else to groom as successor. They were finally warming up to each other again just a year or so before Ziio died.

Oiá:ner put full trust into Ratohnhaké:ton and his decision-making going forward because she didn't want to drive a wedge between herself and her grandson the way she did with Ziio. And it was the hardest thing she ever had to do.

Modern-day Ziio would have been a leader in the stand-offs against the Canadian government and localities like the Kanehsatà:ke Resistance, which her voice actor Tiio Horn was actually in. My headcanon Ziio has a lot of Tiio Horn's traits, mostly because Tiio Horn's sass that I see in her social media comes through a lot in her voice acting for Ziio.

Ratohnhaké:ton's a BEAST at lacrosse. Man moves like WATER.

Shay died peacefully in a manner similar to Ezio's -- in a garden, watching his family.

Shay most definitely was the black sheep amongst the Templars -- not just because a traitor gets no trust from any side, but because he's Irish and many other Templars were Englishmen who were racist against him. Adéwalé called him Haytham's hunting dog, but the Templars thought the same of him.

Because of this, Shay was that high-achieving Templar the others resented, because they hated the idea of being outdone by someone they felt was lesser. They kept their distance from each other, and his friends in the Order were kept in a tight circle -- Jack Weeks, Gist, and Haytham.

That's also why Cudgel was so fiercely proud of his grandfather later on too -- despite the racism, he was more Templar than any of them.

Also, Lil Cudge seems to me like that kind of guy who in modern day would insist that the Irish were slaves. He seems to me like someone who's very loyal, but but blindly so, and someone who doesn't question tradition.

Edward wanted to raise Haytham as English as possible, but he'd occasionally slip up and curse in Welsh at times. Haytham would grow up with only vague memories of the Welsh part of his heritage.

Edward was a rambunctious lil youngster who didn't need any dogs to herd the sheep. The wolves were scared of HIM lol.

Edward's relationship with Jenny haunts my dreams. What happened in the years between her and Haytham's birth. The people need to know.

I wrote a whole other word vomit post expressing my guess that he didn't want her to get involved in the Assassin world because he wanted to protect his last memory of Caroline. He believed in being honest with your child, so she knew everything about his activities. But given that Caroline had already been disowned because of him and even now that he was a new money gentleman, he was a social pariah because of his pirate past, he wanted Jenny to live a noblewoman's life -- marry a man of good social standing and be a good wife. And although she protested, he always thought he knew what was best for her.

If Jenny knew about her brother's child and ever met him, she honestly would've adored him. Such a polite, well-loved young man. She would've been relieved that he was raised right by his mother's side, away from the Kenway drama. Thank God all he had in common with her side of the family was blood, but if she could have chosen to be blood with any remaining relative of hers, it would have been him.

Connor Kenway/Ratonhnhaké:ton Headcanons: As a Father

A/N: Hey hey y’all! So, as most of you may know by now, for the past week or so Ratonhnhaké:ton a.k.a Connor Kenway, the protagonist from Assassin’s Creed 3, has completely occupied my mind. Like I’m serious, it’s been exactly one (1) thought, head full of him. So, to help flush some of this fixation out of my system, I’ve taken to writing a shit ton of headcanons for him, all different au’s and themes. Today, we’ll be looking at what I envision Connor to be like as a father. Canonically, he has three (3) children, two daughters and a son. We never, however, get to see more of what he’s like as a dad, so that’s where I step in! 😁 FAIR WARNING: These are more so a combination of Modern and Canonical headcanons since I took inspiration from how I imagine Connor would behave in both timelines. With that being said, I hope you guys enjoy! And please feel free to send me any Connor related asks or requests you may have. I’d love to write more for him and interact more with my fellow Con-Con man lovers.

Ratonhnhaké:ton/Connor Kenway as a Father Headcanons

Before I say anything else, and go into any detail, let me make something abundantly clear

Ratonhnhaké:ton/Connor Kenway is an amazing father

He’s doting yet firm, protective but not overbearing

He’s attentive and accommodating, but not to the point of pandering and being spineless

He knows how to be gentle with his children, even from the time they’re infants and he gets to hold them for the first time

Speaking of…

The first time Connor gets to hold his child, his eyes water up like super hard

He only notices, as entranced as he is by his baby, because his picture of them becomes blurry

He’s afraid his tears will drop on his baby and startle them, so he quickly yet carefully hands her back to his wife and wipes the tears, which have now begun trickling down his face, before immediately, quietly asking for permission to hold his child again

(His wife, in her exhaustion and recovering from the sudden rush of adrenaline, thinks it’s funny and sweet that he thought to ask for permission)

Ratonhnhaké:ton never ceases to be amazed, even as the number of times his wife gives birth increases and, subsequently, the number of his children grows

He’s just as astonished the third time as he was the first

As I mentioned in some of my previous Connor-canons, he’s always desired to be a father and have a family

(I mean personally, before the comic came out, I wouldn’t have thought he necessarily wanted such a big family, but the fact that he apparently did positively warms my heart 😭)

Even years later, he still feels regret about the way things played out between him and his own father, and the more he contemplated why Haytham behaved in the way that he did, Connor has deduced that perhaps Haytham’s relationship with his dad wasn’t the greatest either, and that affected him to a degree

(That’s by no means meant to excuse or justify what Haytham did, but I thought it was worth mentioning)

He knows he can’t ever know the answer for certain, but with this speculation, Connor decided that he would do his utmost to be a good father to his children, regardless of what path they chose and what differences may have existed between them

We all know that Ratonhnhaké:ton can very easily become a papa bear when the situation calls for it, and he’s very unafraid of puttin’ the smackdown on people who would overstep their boundaries

This behavior is increased tenfold once he becomes a father

Now he really is a papa bear, and anyone who would try to harm his children in any way will be dealt with. Swiftly.

On the flipside of that however, Connor also knows that he shouldn’t coddle his kids, and that eventually they’ll have to learn to defend themselves

So, he does the obvious thing and covertly teaches them some of the fighting and self-defense techniques he learned as an Assassin 😁

It’s not full out Assassin training (outside of Io:nhiòte, who of course possesses the OG eagle vision) and he tries to keep it on the dl from his wife (who eventually finds out anyway and scolds him but nevertheless allows him to continue 🙃)

Connor and all three of his children really enjoy flapjacks (yes, flapjacks not pancakes)

I imagine that Connor and his family live in the manor and so the children each have their own rooms

They’re each responsible for the upkeep of said room once they are of age, and Connor teaches them the importance of cleanliness, in all aspects

He also teaches them respect, even to the animals who provide their food and fur/skins

When his children inevitably inquire about what it is Connor does since he wears those special robes, he decides to be completely upfront and honest with them, when they are old enough

Prior to that, he tells them a watered-down version of the story, saying things like “I help others and make bad people go away” or even jokingly implying or outright stating that he belongs to a secret brotherhood who helps people and punishes those who misbehave

(When the kids are younger, they eat his stories up, so fascinated and intrigued they are with whatever it is their dad does)

I feel that Io:nhiòte is the most excitable of Connor’s kids; she’s still a polite, well-spoken girl but just a little more headstrong than her siblings

I also feel that Connor’s son, which I believe is his second eldest child, is like him and has a very calm (almost more so than his father), even temperament

He, again like his father, is soft-spoken and kind, and also very intelligent: he adapts and learns very quickly

Connor’s oldest, who I believe is his other daughter, is very confident and much like her mother

She is also well-mannered and independent, not liking to rely on others for much, if anything, one trait she did inherit from her dad

She takes pride in being the eldest, and always tries to lead and set a good example for her siblings

Even with their similarities though, Connor still has had to learn to adapt his attitude and responses when engaging each of his children

He laughs at the thought, as coming to understand and subsequently better communicate with his kids reminds him of his early days of assassin training, the more mentally taxing work he had to put in

It also sometimes saddens him when he thinks about how his own father could never quite figure out how to do the same

But, all in all, Connor is just grateful that he can make a positive difference as it relates to his own relationship with his kids

Rapid Fire Round!

Connor and Io:nhiòte have their own secret language that they use when out training

(It’s mostly vocalizations and hand signals, not so much actual words)

Connor likes to have special little inside jokes with his kids, and they each have either a hand signal or handshake that is unique to them

Ratonhnhaké:ton isn’t usually one to cry at all, but he definitely sheds tears whenever any one of his kids reaches a milestone

(Like he might not outright sob but a few little diamonds surely make their way down his cheeks 😂)

When they’re little, Connor’s kids love to play in his hair (which I imagine he lets grow out a considerable amount once he’s settled down) and he’s more than happy to let them

Loves to make their birthdays celebrations for the whole of the Homestead and his wife’s village as well

When he’s at home and the babies are…well babies, Connor oft volunteers to supervise his, Myriam/Norris and Warren/Prudence’s kid’s playdates

I didn’t mention this in my general headcanons for Con-Con man but I actually believe he knows how to cook, and for this particular set of headcanons he does so pretty frequently for his kids, as they’re big fans of his cooking

Connor loves to give his kids piggyback rides; his son and Io:nhiòte are particularly big fans

When the children are little, Connor hums to them to help them sleep at night

(His wife likes to tease him about how nice his voice is and Connor is always flustered at the compliment)

All-in-all, Connor is an excellent father, and is more than willing to give his kids the world 😁

Christmas Headcanons for Haytham Kenway and Shay Cormac

This is the Christmas Modern Templar version of SFW Headcanons!! Basically, the only ones I will do is these two cause deeply, I’m in love with them and y’all know I’m a deep fangirl of Haytham Kenway, even fangirling over the Irish accent of Shay too so eeeee! Anyway, anyway, Merry Christmas and enjoy these sloppy things.

Haytham Kenway and Shay Cormac

When they wake up, Haytham expects snow on the ground, and if there isn’t, he’d be really curious, but grumpy too.

Shay doesn’t really care, as long as he didn’t sleep a whole day and misses Christmas.

With their S/Os, it’s a day to either sleep in, or to already have a Christmas playlist to be blasting out all over the house. No matter what though, their in their pjs still

Haytham, however, likes to not be in his nightclothes, but would also not be in his full uniform.

Shay would love to be in his night clothes, and even go to help his S/O with whatever they’re doing

Their S/Os might be back to sleep in the morning on the couch, and as Haytham looks at their sleeping form, he would chuckle, but would give them a blanket and pillow to rest their head on.

For Shay, he would do the same, and Haytham and Shay would finish whatever their S/Os were doing before

Haytham will be frustrated to go back into his room to find his desk nice and tidy, and the catch, they hid his paperwork the night before while he was fast asleep. Since he can’t do his work, Haytham instead would fall asleep on the chair beside the couch, but would be in an alert state just in case his S/O wakes back up

Shay would be the one to have the blame on, and Haytham would only have to agree with him that he would be working all day. Haytham doesn’t ask him where he put his work though, as Christmas is the priority.

When their S/O’s wake up, Haytham would only ask what they would like to do that day, and whatever they asked, he and Shay would go along with it.

The day is mainly spent with their S/Os, and, if there’s a mistletoe, he would gladly kiss them, while Shay would tease his S/O before kissing them too

Shay’s and Haytham’s Templar and Assassin friends might come over too, and hopefully all of them are friendly with each other

Egg nog is a given and probably some milk and cookies (or whatever you do on Christmas)

That night, with the Christmas tree lights up and presents open, none of you will clean up until tomorrow, and everyone sleeps on the floor by the fireplace

Haytham head-canons - nightmares

Used to handling things on his own, Haytham deals with his nightmares similarly. There is no one next to him to hold him so he’ll often lay there; listening to the rapid pounding of his heart, waiting for his mind to slow down and allow him to return to what is usually a fitful sleep.

Other times, on nights when the nightmares are especially bad, Haytham will get out of bed, go downstairs and stand outside. He runs on autopilot, not thinking about the conditions outside; he just has to get out. Away. He’ll stand out there until the pain goes away. He’s stood outside until he’s been soaked down to the bone, to when he’s been so chilled his teeth chatter and fingers go numb. Other nights when the weather is better, Haytham sits out there until his mind, demanding sleep once more, makes him, at least temporarily, forget what caused him pain. There have been times, though, that he sat out on his back steps in his pajamas until the golden pink rays of morning poke through the trees. He gets up and numbly goes through his day, hoping when darkness falls again, the fates would be kinder to him.

The whole family was watching an action car movie (it's all about family). Everyone sat in the living room together, some on the couch and some on the floor, Jacob sat next to Evie by the armrest of the couch as the movie went on with out any issues, it was then that Jacob, thought of the most random thoughts ever.

Desmond: *eating popcorn*

Jacob: . . . Popcorn is just explosions frozen in time for you to eat.

Desmond: *stops eating his popcorn*

Evie: *hard sighs* brother... pls...

Altair: *clenched teeth* ... not... today... Frye...

Leonardo: here we go again...

Jacob: if a fire truck catches fire, it becomes the very thing it was sworn to destroy.

Desmond: Jacob don't make us have Altair kick your @$$ again.

Jacob: if the earth is the 3rd planet from the sun, doesn't that mean every country is a third world country?

Altair: ... *grabs a pillow from the couch and proceeds to scream all of his rage into it*

Jacob: if you sweat in a sweater... does that make you the sweater?

Shaun: pls someone makes him stop!

Bakey: how do we make him stop!?

Jacob: Lawyers hope you get sued, doctors hope you get sick, a mechanic hope you break down... but only a thief wishes you prosperity.

Evie: *takes the popcorn and gets up* well then I wish you all prosperity. *leaves to her room*

Desmond: hey! Wait that was mine!

Jacob: how come your lips don't touch, when you say the word touch, but touch when you say the word separate.

Alexios: oh like how you're tearing THIS FAMILY APART AGAIN!!!

Edward: *just laughing on the floor*

Jacob: There have likely been times in history where a leader was believed to have been poisoned but probably just had a severe food allergy.

Arno: I- ... that actually explains quite a lot now that I think about it.

Jacob: your future self is spying on you through memories.

Everyone: ... *looks over at Desmond* ...

Desmond: ... can we not, go over this again.

Jacob: you have to pretend to sleep, to fall asleep.

Aya: I'm going to throw him out of this house if he keeps this up.

Jacob: two wrongs don't make a right... but three lefts do.

Maria: this nightmare will never end will it...

Jacob: Your Teeth are warm.

Altair: . . . that's it! *pause the movie* COME HERE FRYE!

Jacob: NOT TODAY! *Jumps over the couch and runs upstairs to his room*

Altair: *runs after him*

The chase is once again lead to the second floor of the house as the remaining group is left downstairs to hear the echoes of the chase from the living room.

Everyone: ...

Malik: ... well I guess that takes care of that.

Leonardo: and I'm guessing like before, we aren't going to help him correct?

Shaun: yep.

Rebecca: Oh absolutely.

Desmond: pretty much... damn it now I gotta go make more popcorn. *gets up to make more*

Edward: *coughing and wheezing* Haha... ha...

While Desmond went to go do that the sound of the chase echoed from upstairs as it sounds like Jacob almost made it this time... almost. Jacob's screaming can be heard from the upstairs and the sound of something breaking.

Jacob: *upstairs* EVIE HELP! SAVE ME!!!

Evie: *from her room* you made your bed, you sleep in it. *closes her room door*

Jacob: NO EVIE WAIT-

And then the sound of glass shattering is followed as Jacob can be seen falling from the second floor to the front of the house from the living room window as Jacob moans in pain outside.

Desmond: *comes back in with more popcorn* got more popcorn.

Altair: *comes down stairs and sits back on the couch* ... so remind me again on why we are watching a movie about cars again?

Desmond: cause it's all about Family Altair. *eats some popcorn* it's all about family. *puts shades on and continues the movie*

Description - What kind of dates the modern assassins and templars would choose for you to go on.

Altair would take you out on lowkey dates. To be honest, I don't see him as a huge dater - so dates to him are normal trips to the supermarket or something along those lines. Especially since his love language is quality time, he thinks small trips to the bank are dates. He saves more for the really special dates, for your anniversary or maybe your birthday. Anytime he spends with you is important to him. If dates are important to you, it'll take a minute for him to plan it out and make it special for you. He'll probably go the safe route, and bring you out to dinner. It wouldn't be too fancy, but just enough to dress up a little bit, and he splurges on stuff he normally wouldn't.

I feel like Malik would bring you to a library, or a coffee shop. It's more chill than anything, especially when he's getting to know you, he thinks it's important to connect in a relaxed environment. It's never too showy, just enough for the both of you to get comfortable around each other. Eventually, the places you frequent on dates are staples in your lives. I picture a lot of reading next to each other and being in each other's company without many conversations. Occasionally you'll both take breaks and discuss whatever it was that interested you in your reading. I also see study dates, especially if you met each other in college.

Ezio would absolutely take you out to a club. He gives off the life of the party energy, and his dating life would show that. Without a doubt, he goes off your energy. If he can have a good time with you in a crowd dancing, he'll take you out to dinner next. When he decides he likes your vibe enough, he'll bring you out to a fancy restaurant - very fine dining, and a lot of wooing would happen with him. If that's not your speed, you'll probably have to plan the next date - he might've chosen a cycling class for the third date.

Yusuf is a coffee shop kind of guy, but I also see him bringing you out to brunch. He's very chill, but also very energetic, and I think brunch encapsulates that perfectly. When your relationship develops more, it becomes a regular thing, maybe every Sunday that you're out to brunch. It's a nice way to spend time together, especially if you have opposite schedules, to come back together and discuss the week previous, or the one ahead. He also likes to try out different brunch places, so you'll rarely try the same place twice unless, of course, it's a place the two of you loved. I could also see him taking you on long walks through the park, mostly because I envision a modern Yusuf owning a dog.

A pub is the most obvious choice for Edward. He's somewhat of a rowdy bastard, and I see him bringing you there and showing you off. Besides that, he wants you to meet his friends, because believe it or not what they think matters to him. I also think it would take bringing you there a couple of times before you'd be able to meet Drunk-Edward. He's a completely different beast than the reserved, somewhat sober Edward. He's still fun, a great time, but he wants to make sure you're comfortable and will be a good fit before revealing more about himself.

Mary would probably want to do something locally, and honestly, I see her bringing you to her place and cooking you a meal there. She's proud of her humble abode, and it's very comfortable. And surprisingly, she has decent cooking skills. I feel like she'd bring out a puzzle, or a board game while the food simmers for a while, or just drink wine with you and discuss different aspects of your life. It's relaxing and calm, and the perfect way to get to know someone, at least in her opinion. Besides that, I think it's her simple way of telling you that you're important to her.

Haytham would choose a fancy restaurant for the first date, but if he decided he liked you, he would bring you to the bar he frequents. It's something of a trust thing, he likes the places he likes and the people he likes, and if it didn't work out between the two of you he wouldn't want to run into you there. Opposite of Edward though, Edward goes for a good time, I feel like Haytham goes and enjoys a glass of brandy and talks about philosophical things.

I see Shay as someone who is decently outdoorsy. He'd either bring you out on a hike - nothing crazy, just a walk around maybe a lake or something. To be honest, he enjoys his time outside, so he wants someone who shares that passion with him, or at the very least, tolerates it for a while. I also could see him bringing you out on a sailboat. Shay is a romantic at heart, so he'd plan it out so you could watch the sunset (or maybe the sunrise, if you're a morning person. Shay would take your likes/wants/needs into consideration, because of course he would) and eat a meal together.

You're gonna tell me that Connor wouldn't take you out on a picnic for dates? If so, you're wrong, he absolutely would. He's another outdoorsy person, same as Shay, except that he spends much more time outside. If you're at his house, he'd plan a lunch close by. I could also see him planning bonfires, not necessarily huge parties, but with you and maybe a few of the surrounding neighbors. It's almost always pretty private and intimate, but it always shows how much thought Connor puts into almost everything. It's also pretty sweet to hear him ask about the neighbor's lives too.

Now, I could see Arno bringing you to festivals. Not music festivals, but local ones that come through the towns on occasion. There's a summer solstice festival two towns over? He's already known about it for weeks and was taking you tonight. He's somewhat (very) sentimental, so he likes bringing you there and taking pictures, eating fair food, and collecting memorabilia. When you ask why he loves them so much, he'll mention that he wants to show your kids all the cool places and things you did together before them.

Elise would choose something artsy. I'd say paint and sip but that feels too casual for her, she'd probably go with something like a pottery class. Even if the class is too advanced for you, and the vase you attempted to make is completely wonky, it's something when you move in together that would sit on a shelf. She likes to try new things and is fairly adventurous, so I feel like she'll drag you along to whatever new art project she wants to try. Sketching and painting, she even drags you up on an air balloon to get a good view/reference photo for an oil painting she wants to do. Your home easily becomes filled with things from your artistic endeavors.

Jacob would absolutely bring you to a sporting event. I feel like he'd like wrestling, or maybe rugby. If you know nothing about it, all the better, he explains everything in detail in between screaming and cheering for his teams. I also feel like he'd play said sports on the side, and having you there supporting him would mean a lot. Jacob would probably like seeing you in his jersey. Another date idea I could see him trying would be making you dinner - but it'd be so burnt and inedible that you'd just end up in front of the television eating takeout. The thought was there, but the second option was much more Jacob, so it was perfect.

Evie is a farmers market gal and you cannot convince me otherwise. Every Saturday, without fail, the pair of you will make your way through the stalls. Good bread, local honey, a bouquet filled with flowers Evie loves, and fruits and vegetables have been bought - all treats you fill your house up with. Now at that point, once every stall has been combed through and things have been purchased, you'll either go to the coffee shop and grab a cup of tea and walk around town - or, if it's later in the day, you'll just go home and cook up the food you bought. It's always a team effort, and you both make sure that the table is set nice with flowers and candles and all.

Can't you see Shaun bringing you to a museum and telling you everything he knows about the subject and history of an object? It would be something that you'd do in every city you visited, trying to find the history in a small town you were stopping over for a night. Whether it was an actual museum or maybe just an old house the town showed off, what you would learn, or what Shaun could tell you about a hidden history of it, would be the highlight of your trip.

See, I can't see Desmond on a specific type of date? I feel like I could see him taking you for drives on his motorcycle. Think, dive bars, small concert venues, smoking outside but being wrapped in his leather jacket. Going stargazing and trying to find constellations or counting the shooting stars you see. He's for sure a nighttime kind of love, wrapped up in darkness. I can also see hungover breakfasts shared together. It's something that goes fast, only because it feels like you've known each other for so long. You choose to skip over the fancy dates, the awkward getting to know each other stage. I can also see you going to his job, and him giving you drinks for free but only because he can.
