This mf ALWAYS has some sort of candy in his pocket. It’s always different variations of flavors and melted-ness.

(Back in the distant era of the early 10s, my family got Netflix as a novelty. Nowadays streaming has consumed film and television like a rabid beast, but back then, my brother and I found a little British show called Primeval. Weaned on BBC nature documentaries from a young age, this was an exciting new spin on Walking with Dinosaurs, and we loved it.

The future predator is no question the most iconic creature of the series, a future bat that is both inspired by earlier spec evo and has gone on to inspire many other monster designs, including the earlier moorkutlot. It seems only fitting it be translated to Pathfinder.

By the way, I'm abandoning the proposed evolutionary history the later seasons provide- that these actually evolved to eat humans in a post-apocalyptic cityscape- and make them what I think is most obvious to me.)

Chiropterex are an aberrant species of roughly wolf-sized terrestrial bat, an arboreal, nocturnal apex predator of the islands it calls home, where no other land mammals have reached. They live in small family groups of about four to six members, typically consisting of a mated pair, a nest of about six children, a few children of previous years who stay around to help, and maybe one or two aunts or uncles. Typically, however, they hunt alone, feeding on seabirds and large moa-like ratites who evolved alongside them. These family groups keep in contact with each other using echolocation, and if a lone hunter runs into a struggle, it will call on the dissembled family to help.

Chiropterex are notorious man-eaters, and many a shipwrecked crew has met its end at a family of ravenous land bats. Many peoples of island cultures consider chiropterex to be evil spirits, and indeed there is at least one island where the magic of The Abyss has infected the local population of these predatory beasts.

Some outsiders have tried to domesticate chiropterex, or at the very least use them as weapons. They are a tempting subject of domestication; they are mobile, intelligent, fast-growing and have large clutch sizes, but all attempts so far have ended disastrously.

None of my animals interact outside of their species, birds and reptiles are very susceptible to bacteria present in dogs and cats, reptiles naturally carry salmonella which can make anyone sick, size differences between animals can mean serious injuries even without prey drive involvement, and there’s no benefit to having predator/prey animals interact. Allowing them to interact would be selfish, the only benefit to it would be for me not having to schedule as intensely as I do, but it would not benefit the animals and just be stressful for them. They get basic training (with restraint/ carriers), to learn how to ignore one another and remain calm/ responsive to cues in case of an emergency but outside of that they are always separated either by kennels, doors, or separate floors.

Hi all,

ARC's are arriving in less than 48 hours, so I've posted the content warnings for THE GIRL IN QUESTION below behind the cut.

THE GIRL IN QUESTION is a contemporary thriller that concludes teen con-artist Nora O’Malley’s story which began in the novel THE GIRLS I’VE BEEN.

This is a sequel that does not stand-alone. Meaning you need to read the first book in order to understand the second. Nora has no time to explain backstory to anyone, she’s got a man to destroy.

THE GIRL IN QUESTION is about Nora O’Malley, the daughter of a con-artist who targets criminal men in a sweetheart con. When her mother fell for an abusive criminal mark instead of conning him, a pre-teen Nora engineered her escape with her sister, Lee, putting her mother and her crime-lord Step-Father in prison while she stayed hidden under a new identity all through high school. But now high school is over...and her Step-Father is out of prison. He knows her name. He knows her location. He knows what she looks like. And he knows who she cares about.

The GIRL IN QUESTION takes place a year after the first novel and covers several weeks over the summer after Nora, Iris and Wes graduate high school.

The novel is set in the Cascade mountain range on a backpacking trip. Nora, her girlfriend Iris, her ex and best friend Wes and Wes’s girlfriend Amanda find themselves in predicament when, on their trip, Amanda gets mistaken for Nora and kidnapped by Raymond—all because she was wearing Nora’s flannel.

Stranded in the forest with no weapons, dwindling gear, a one-eyed dog named Turbo and a group of men determined to kill her and everyone she loves, Nora finds herself facing a nightmare. She can’t run. She can’t hide. It’s kill or be killed. So it’s time to fight.

Violence & Abuse: violence related to surviving domestic violence, past and present, children and teens in life-threatening peril, threats to a child (past and present), surviving psychological & emotional abuse, surviving parental abuse (psychological, emotional and physical), disclosure of being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse to a teenaged peer, the aftermath of childhood sexual abuse and surviving childhood sexual abuse, drug abuse (prescription pills).

Assault: verbal threats of physical assault, physical assault, physical assault when victim is asleep, physical intimidation, hand to hand fighting, bullying, gunshot and stabbing wounds,, fire, references to a previous dismemberment, strangulation, kidnapping, eye gouging, booby traps with wooden spikes, wooden spear injuries, numerous foot injuries (shooting, stabbing, set on fire).

Death: murder, threats of murder, references to an off-screen character over-dosing on pills.

Misc: discussion of menstruation, discussion of reproductive health, choice and justice, references to living with chronic pain, references to menstrual spotting due to stress and endometriosis, mentions of drug addiction, mentions of endometriosis excision surgery.

Animals: Turbo the one-eyed dog is an important character in THE GIRL IN QUESTION. Turbo is a rescue dog with only one eye because she had an infection when she arrived at the rescue Wes and Iris volunteer at. Turbo’s eye surgery is mentioned in the novel, but happens before the narrative starts.

Turbo is not harmed in the novel. Pets do not die in my books. People are another matter.

(I mean, she'll still place her order and savour every last scoop but...) Chiara's an easy going enough girl 'round town, just don't try and tie her down. A mutable chameleon tumbleweed who was raised by her globetrotting grandparents, she's a proverbial Jill of many trades and a master of none. That would require some level of commitment and well, inconsistency is the one constant in her life.

If it's anything that she'd leave out of the two suitcases that she's stuffed her whole life into, then it's not worth keeping. She's a great wingwoman and can draw almost anyone out of their shell, but very few have a deep insight into her person.

Ironic then, that the one thing she sticks at longer than the fluttering of a hummingbird's wings is a hobby that requires both time and attention - knitting. Her beloved grandmother ('Nonna') got her hooked and you'll regularly find her creations listed on Plopsy, decorating her latest rental and even occasionally be gifted one if she takes to you enough. That hanging plant holder might just turn out to be your most enduring memory of her...

Oh, and she's very at home within the occult communities...

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE

• Totally dyed her armpit hair for San Myshuno Pride one year (for reference, she shaves her legs regularly as it's a sensory thing but thinks we should normalise five o'clock shadow - or more - for all) . • Keeps a stash of plasma packs and beef jerky on her person for her 'special' friends who may have sudden specific cravings. • Likes the idea of becoming a spellcaster, less so the study involved (committment blergh). • Other kids looked out for the tooth fairy. She secretly hoped to be beamed up to Sixam. • Can see herself being a single parent someday but not married. Never married. • Sings and plays guitar at an 'around the campfire' level and likely knows some tricks behind the bar. Hey, whatever odd jobs are needed to pay the rent. • Has always been good with animals, even if horse riding is still a Work in progress. If simoleons weren't a factor, she'd likely buy a big house for retired service dogs to live out their remaining years in comfort.

Summery‧˚｡ﾟ･° ｡✎ Have you ever thought about these three sharing a darling? I have, and if you lower their yandere tendencies a bit I think it works. Mostly you just have to make Ivan less clingy and Belarus less clingy and it works out.

Misc‧˚｡ﾟ･° ｡✎ as always this is about yanderes so talk of an unhealthy relationship, murder, kidnapping, death, and other dark topics.

How do they give affection?

All of them are clingy. I know that all yanderes are, but these three never want you to leave their side. Belarus and Russia more often than Ukraine.

Belarus needs your attention by having you constantly by her side. There are strict rules for you to call, text, and send pictures often. She'll have a tracking device on you and something like life360 on your phone. Since you're not allowed anywhere without one of the three being with you she'll also stay in contact with whoever is watching you. Natalia is most happy when you're next to her, but having you call is okay. It's not the same but it's a good supplement while someone else gets their turn with you.

Ukraine needs you to help her live a happy domestic life. When you're over there are chores and tasks you're expected to do. Meals are eaten with Irunya at the table, the farm animals are to be taken care of (you're allowed to play with them),and picking up after yourself are just some of the rules. Irunya loves you but she loves the other two as well, so she's ok with not seeing you as often as them. Just make sure you give her lots of attention when she's keeping you.

Russia shows affection by squishing you. That's the most of it. He will bear hug you and squeeze you so hard. He's a little afraid of letting go, so the hugs will last longer than you may expect. Being held in his lap while he works is a daily occurrence. He wants to be there physically. When you're gone he doesn't feel better by your texts. He feels better knowing you'll be by his side again. Which is why he doesn't mind sharing you with Belarus and Ukraine. He knows they'll always bring you back. You will always be with him.

Don't play favorites. Not only will you hurt one/two of them but they will gladly agree to acclimate you to the one(s) you don't like. Which means spending weeks with a yandere who's now very upset over how obvious you've made your feelings.

How do they handle the dirty work?

When things get messy Natalia and Ivan will do the dirty work and Irunya will clean up. This works in several different ways.

An ex comes back into your life and tries to interfere, or you run into the arms of someone else for help? Ivan and Natalia will be the ones to kill him. Blade, poison, arrows, or killing him socially. Ruining their life may seem extreme, but for you nothing is too extreme. After it's all done Ukraine will bury the body on her farm. She'll keep you busy while the deed is done so you can't question anything until it's too late. The three are a deadly trio.

If the dirty work is punishing you it works much the same way. Natalia and Ivan will dish out the punishment. Ivan is more heavy handed. Hell just punish you through violence and threats. The embodiment of Russia will just terrorist you into submission through whatever means necessary.

Natalia is a bit different. She tailors her punishments to the crime in question. Not spending enough time with her, she'll tie your hands together with rope. The message is easier to get across that way in her mind.

Together they are so much worse than when alone.

Which is where Irunya comes in. She's the aftercare of the three. It's too hard for her to punish you so when upset she'll just contact the other two. Her job is to care for you. Covering wounds, applying antibiotics, keeping you well fed, giving you rest, and keeping you company with her soothing (and smothering) love. It's heaven compared to what you just went through.

How they treat you.

The three love doting on you. They keep no secrets. This does mean sharing loving stories about what sweet thing you said earlier that day, how you blushed after they complimented you, and gushing about their shared partner.

It can get embarrassing sometimes, and other times it's scary. If you upset one they will openly discuss if you should be punished, what punishment is acceptable, and who would carry it out. It's mortifying. Sitting there with them as they casually talk about it like it's the weather they're discussing.

What if you leave them?

All three of them have different ways of coping with you once you leave. If you die or are gone for good in their eyes it makes no difference.

Irunya grieves. She cries and sobs for weeks trying to figure out where she went wrong. Her siblings will comfort her as much as they can. It's just hard to stay connected. They all grieve so differently that it puts a strain on their relationship. Ukraine will miss you, but she accepts that you're gone. Tears only do so much and she will give up eventually. She'll make you a grave on her farm. Even if your body isn't buried there, she feels that your spirit resides there. It brings her comfort.

Ivan deludes himself into thinking everything is ok. You never wanted to leave, you were stolen away. When you died it was a tragic accident and you loved all three of them so dearly, even if you had fought for hours before death. He will lie to himself and act like nothing ever happened. Even when his siblings try to correct him on these events it does nothing. He just nods and shakes his head. Not hearing a word.

Belarus will go numb. She'll have a few weeks where she can barely get out of bed and go to work. Her siblings will spend time with her to make things easier. As time passes it'll become easier to bear. The heavy absence your presence leaves is still too much to bear. It's difficult, but she manages. Ivans way of coping infuriates her, and Ukraine makes her sad. The grave is a dark reminder she'd rather avoid.

A rift forms between the siblings almost. Not so much because you broke them apart, but rather you brought them together. Without you they aren't as close anymore. Time heals all wounds eventually. Perhaps as time goes on they will talk again more often.

What are they like when jealous?

Ivan gets very jealous. It's in his nature. He's so used to being alone, now you're here! How could he not want all of your attention? Since you're with his siblings he doesn't mind it as much, but it's still quite a balancing act for you. Get good at this game or it will end badly.

Belarus also gets jealous, but only if it's not her siblings. Of course you can't say you prefer Ukraine or Russia over her, but you can show them affection without her getting upset. If you show attention to a stranger, coworker, or waiter that she deserves as too much it's a different matter. Don't think Belarus won't embarrass you. She will walk you out of that restaurant if you're making too much eye contact.

Irunya doesn't get that jealous. You sleep in her or her siblings bed at the end of the day, and she’s ok with that. On her own she gets more jealous but the other two help calm her down.

How could you escape from them?

The only way to freedom would be to get into contact with one (or several) of their nation's higher-ups. If you can convince their bosses even better, but that's difficult and requires extreme planning and manipulation to pull off. I don't like saying that though because I feel that's true for all of the countries.

It's just, other than that there is no escape. They all cover their bases well. Natalia keeps tabs on you through your technology 24/7, Ivan has people following you around and is too terrorizing to double cross, and Irunya is keeping an eye on all your friends and family. Not to mention once you do leave, where will you go? You have one superpower and two other countries after you. No border is safe unless you get far away very quickly.

How do they react when you act out?

Natalia ignores you. Don't want to eat? Starve then. You'll have to eat eventually, and when you do she'll rub it in your face. Same with sleeping. Once you pass out she'll just leave you there (unless you're in public or in danger of freezing to death). She would let your punishment be the consequences of your own actions. As long as you don't try to hurt yourself or anyone else.

If you attack Belarus, well that's an odd statement, because you won't be able to land a hit. The punishment is much like all her others. Want to stab her in the back? She'll do the same. Literally. She'll stab you the same way you tried to stab her. She'll talk the entire time too. Saying things like now you know her pain, and how you should be glad it's not worse. It does get worse. None of the siblings like to see the other two hurt. However they get the news once they do there will be hell to pay. The one wound is small and bleak in comparison.

Speaking of worse, Ivan. His punishments are extreme. Being left in the cold, having food and clothes taken away (which even in the house is a huge threat due to the cold), and making you spend time with him. Which isn't much of a punishment, until you realize he wants to spend time hurting you. Sadism is a normal part of Ivan. he just enjoys seeing you squirm in pain or to let out a cute little whimper of pain. Injuring you is a show of love in his eyes. Don’t the bruises look so cute?

If you attack him, he'll just break one of your bones. Reflexes kick in when he sees you move at him with his own pipe. Before Russia even realizes what’s going on he’s twisting your arm until a crunchy pop is heard. The pain is imiddeate, but Ivan doesn't notice anything going on around him. He’s too torn up and heartbroken over what just happened. How could you? The punishment is immediate and swift. He’ll be in your face yelling and screaming. He’ll pick up the pipe and brandish it. Threatening to hit you, and doing so several times. Don’t try to run. He’ll just break your legs.

Irunya is so different. Not that she can’t be tough! Scary just isn't in her nature. Being motherly and caring by nature doesn't blend well with punishments. Most of her punishments are things you’d see from a disappointed parent. Sending you home without dinner, giving you extra chores for the day, making you clean the entire house, and giving you some of the undesirable tasks that come up. Like cleaning manure out of the barns or cleaning out the chicken coops. These aren't tough by any means, and if you enjoy cleaning or animals they're quite fun. It’s if she tells the other two about your bad behavior that’s a problem. They know how little cruelty is there and will take up punishing you in her place. Just don’t let things get out of hand and it wont get to that.

Attacking her will wind you up in the barn. Want to act like an animal? She’ll treat you like one! You’ll be stuck out there until one of the other siblings comes to pick you up for their time with you. Then you have to deal with them and what they decide to do.

Fasciculus Rerum Geomanticarum: Cambea, a great count, appears in the likeness of a faun. He knows the powers of herbs, and of precious stones. He also causes birds to descend to the earth, and fly before the exorcist, and likewise to fight before him, and, as though domesticated, also to play according to their nature. He has twenty legions under his dominion.

Psuedomonarchia Daemomum: (51) Decarabia or Carabia, he commeth like a * and knoweth the force of herbes and pretious stones, and maketh all birds flie before the exorcist, and to tarrie with him, as though they were tame, and that they shall drinke and sing, as their maner is, and hath thirtie legions.

Ars Goetia: DECARABIA. – The Sixty-ninth Spirit is Decarabia. He appeareth in the Form of a Star in a Pentacle, at first; but after, at the command of the Exorcist, he putteth on the image of a Man. His Office is to discover the Virtues of Birds and Precious Stones, and to make the Similitude ofall kinds of Birds to fly before the Exorcist, singing and drinking as natural Birds do. He governeth 30 Legions of Spirits, being himself a Great Marquis. And this is his Seal, which is to be worn, etc.
