Snipping the stray strings off its cloth body, you raise your masterpiece up into the light for better view. Its little head dips awkwardly to one side due to how stuffed it was and lack of support. You try it on to make up for the imbalance. It's a little snug, but you had enough wiggle room to clap its tiny hands together and wave to a nonexistent crowd.

You beam with pride for your craft; testing its mobility a bit more in preparation for its debut. You couldn't wait to see the look on your partner's face when you showed it off.

The mime had always been a reserved and mysterious character. They just sorta appeared one day and has been hanging around since. The former half was understandable given their aesthetic, but they've never really opened up to you even off stage. It's not like they avoid you. Heck, you're probably the only person they interact with.

Your co-worker follows you from show curtain to tent and sometimes walks you home on occasion. You have reason to believe these walks aren't as rare as you think since you've caught them out the corner of your eye more times than you can admit, but you could never imagine that big softie doing you or anyone harm. You also suspect them being behind the sudden increase of flowers and other gifts in your tent, but that's a secret you'd happily take to your grave.

You hardly knew much about them, due to obvious facts, but what you were aware of was their love for puppets. When they weren't watching you practice or scampering away from your room, you could easily find the mime hauled away in some corner working on a new friend. They always had one stashed on them, typically their breast pocket. You figure they're a comfort item as the mime can hardly function when ones missing. Seeing an opportunity to get closer to them and potentially start a new hobby, you began making your very own puppet in your downtime which you have now finished.

You clean off your workspace and rush off to find them. It doesn't take long to locate them; hiding away in their own tent as usual. They sit with their back to the door, crouched over the chest they kept their puppets in. It seems they were working on another puppet as well as they set a sewing needle and thread on the trunk's roof. They pick the doll up as if it were glass, hesitantly slipping its glove over their large fingers. You enter the tent.

The mime whips around to face you like they've been caught in the middle of a crime scene. It's the most expression you've ever seen from them. From the silly hat you wore down to the missing button on your shirt, the puppet mirrors you to the smallest detail. There's even a burn on the uncovered part of your arm from an incident with a popcorn machine a month prior to their arrival. Any question alluding to what you walked in on goes out the door as you reach for it.

"Aww, is that me? Can I hold it?"

Ventri reluctantly hands you the puppet. They hide their face in their collar as you inspect it with glee. It really was a mini you. The face paint is a little smudged on one cheek, but it was all there. They wipe at their lips as you thumb your finger over the blemish. You almost forget about your own puppet till it comes tumbling out your pocket.

"Oh! Right, almost left you behind, didn't I?" You pick it up and hold it out to Ventri. "I guess this was a good start afterall. What do you think?"

If you thought they were careful with the you puppet, they treated yours like it'd break on contact. You can't even hear them breath as they inspect it - not that you heard much from them anyway. They frame its plush cheek in their hand. The right eye bulged out of its head and the seams were pulled from when you shoved your hand inside, but it was the cutest thing they'd ever seen.

Ventri looks down at you. They tap the hood of their trunk.

"You wanna keep it?"

A nod.

"Well of course you can! I think it's too small for you, but if you want it then I'm more than happy to let you have it."

Ventri unlocks the trunk and places it down atop the pile. You never never they had such a love for red, but a few of the other puppets in there were pretty much drenched in the color. You recognize one of an old coworker. Shame they didn't get to show it to them before they left.

Ventri quickly shuts and locks the trunk. They drum their fingers against it, this time in thought. They then point over to their mountain of supplies and mimics a sewing gesture with their hands.

You don't have to ask to know what they mean. Together, you waste the rest of the afternoon together designing and creating puppets. They're over your shoulder the entire time, insisting you wear a thimble and expressing fear for the second time when you drop your needle into your lap.

Heading home that evening, you walk the streets hand in hand - your puppets doing all the communication for you.

Anyway not much to say soo enjoy

 How Peng had landed up the designated babysitter for Chikao's “solo” missions, they had no idea.

   Well.  Technically, they were her “mission partner” or whatever.

   But as Peng watched Chikao struggle to climb a wall and completely forget she had powers, Peng felt like babysitter was appropriate.

   “Peeeeeeeeng!” Chikao complained as she glared up at the smooth white walls that blocked her path to the curved roof.

   Peng sighed and rubbed the bridge of their beak as they stamped down irritation. ”What is it now?“ They sighed.

   Chikao grinned with her teeth at them.  ”How do you get over this?“

   Peng rolled their eyes and walked up to the wall with an exasperated sigh. ”Short.“ They commented.  They pretended not to notice the glare Chikao shot their way.  With a golden flash, they unfurled their metal wings, scratched and scraped up by the several recent fights.  They jumped and flapped their wings to land on the roof and dug their talons into the golden rooftop, then turned and looked down at Chikao, who watched them with narrowed eyes.

   ”Okay, but how do I get up there?  I don't have mystical metal wing - oh.“ Chikao's mini glare dropped into realization. 

   ”You forgot about your powers again?“ Peng raised an eyebrow.  They didn't have time for this.  They were already spending way too long here.

   ”Yeah.“ Chikao chuckled.  Peng's feathers ruffled with the wind as Chikao gathered wind and blew herself onto the top of the roof, then grinned at Peng.  Peng rolled their eyes again and turned to look out across the realm.  The golden rooftops shone in the eternal sunlight of the Celestial Realm, pristine and untouched except for where Peng and Chikao stood.  The marble pathways were smooth and pristine, bordered with gold engraved with delicately crafted carvings.  ”What are we here for again?“

   Peng looked at her.  ”You must be joking.“ They said.  Chikao grinned at them in a way that really didn't say either way.  Peng rolled their eyes again and shook their head as they pressed their face into their hand.  ”We're never going to survive this.“ They muttered.

   “What?” Chikao asked.  When Peng looked up, she was hanging off of the rooftop edge and holding onto it with her *feet*, her shoes abandoned at the flat surface on top.

   ”What are you doing?“ Peng hissed as they quickly grabbed the back of Chikao's ”armor“ (honestly, Peng wasn't sure if it even counted as armor) and hauled her back onto the roof.

   ”What?  I was getting a closer look.” Chikao grinned at Peng.

   Peng sighed and scanned the Celestial Realm.  ”We're here for Nezha's spear.“

   ”Oh!  I know where it is!“ Chikao grinned.

   Peng's wings slowly lowered and they let out a deep sigh.  ”And...why, do you know that, Chikao?“ Peng slowly turned their gaze from the shining Celestial Realm to the monkey behind them.

   Chikao blinked at them for a moment, then grinned.  ”This way!“ She declared as she leaped off of the roof to the curved surface of another one, somehow without sliding off.  Peng grumbled and resisted the urge to shout after her.  They didn't need to draw any attention.  They reluctantly grabbed the shoes Chikao had left on the roof and flapped their wings a couple times, then took off after her, careful to fly low to the rooftops and avoid catching the attention of any guards.

   Eventually, Chikao stopped on the edge of a rooftop.  Peng hovered over her and dropped her shoes on her head, then landed beside her and withdrew their wings with a flash.

   ”Hey.“ Chikao grumbled as she shoved her shoes back on.  She pointed to a home marked with three lotuses on the top.  ”Nezha's!“ She grinned.

   Peng sighed.  ”Alright.“ They crouched at the edge of the rooftop and narrowed their eyes.  They scanned the white-and-gold building for any sign of windows or easy entry.  The Celestial Realm must've been allergic to windows or something, though, because not a single building seemed to have windows on them, and Nezha's home was no exception. 

   Before Peng could open their mouth to start outlining, oh, you know, a *plan*, strawberry fur flashed out of the corner of their eye as Chikao jumped down from the roof and into the broad sunlight of the pathway.

   ”Chikao!“ Peng hissed quietly.  Whether Chikao ignored them or couldn't hear them they didn't know, but she continued walking.  She walked right up the stairs, to the front door, and knocked.

   She.  KNOCKED?

   After a long moment (and a couple more enthusiastically rhythmic knocks), the door opened.  Peng couldn't hear anything, but Nezha's expression quickly went from cautious confusion to complete shock, which then shifted into irritation and frustration as he gritted his teeth.  Whatever Nezha was saying, it was obvious he was frustrated with Chikao.

   And for once in Peng's life, they could relate.

   After a moment of conversation Peng couldn't hear, Chikao suddenly raced off with Nezha right behind her.  The door was left wide open.

   Peng sighed and shook their head as they quietly glided off the roof and up to Nezha's doorway.  If nothing else, the little monkey made for a good distraction.

    Peng peered inside to find Nezha's home was nothing like the extravagant towering homes with images created with glistening jewels ingrained in the walls that they'd imagined.

   Nezha's home made Peng wonder if Nezha did anything besides work.

   Maps and to-do lists were strewn on the walls with every inch of desk and tablespace covered in papers.  Some papers were blank or only had a couple ink splotches on them, while others had long paragraphs of words written in fancy letters.  A half-finished ham-and-cheese sandwich lied on the coffee table, and a weapon stand sat against one of the empty walls.  To Nezha's credit, for the mess that was his home, the papers were all organized into their own stacks and generally neat.  Peng shuddered slightly.  So much paperwork.  Invitations to meetings, sign-offs, they couldn't imagine living such a restricted and orderly life, let alone defending that.  They shook their head and stepped inside, and carefully and quietly closed the door behind them.  The flooring and walls were cool and smooth, painted creamy pink and only decorated with a single lotus carpet just within the doorway, and a couple of photos on the wall.  One was of Nezha and Iron Fan presumably in training, where Nezha had the biggest and most genuine smile Peng had ever seen from the prince.  The second was a portrait of Nezha, tired and frowning.  Closer to the Nezha Peng had fought.

   Peng sighed and shook their head.  ”This place is going to give me sensory deprivation.“ They muttered as they stepped past the living room and checked the rooms of the hallway.  They located his bedroom at the end of the hall and stepped inside to see their target on the other side of the bed, which was cloaked in a large lotus blanket that draped off of the sides.

   Peng rolled their eyes as they slipped past and grabbed the cool metal of the golden-headed spear.  ”Does he have anything that's not a lotus?“ They muttered as they swiftly and carefully made their way out of Nezha's home.

   When Peng turned away from the door and looked to the sky, they could only hope the streaks of pink and gold flashing across the sky like lightning was because the Celestial Realm had colorful storms. 

   Peng sighed as they gritted their teeth in annoyance.  ”Alright, little monkey, what did you do?“

Finally got my 4th box from my August 2022 toy haul. I am receiving more stuff, but it’s not from specific month releases. Just toys I got recently that should have arrived sooner but seems like they will arrive later... DX This is my last shipment that I was expecting to receive of Japanese toys.

The third image is a comparison between the 1st release 2014 Eren Nendo and this year’s 2022 version. I know there was another re-release from 2019, because I wasn’t able to get him (I got Armin instead, because I already owned Eren, and was just being stupid about having two Eren -- I did get this one because it is the last re-release he’ll get, apparently, and I want to unbox one now). I feel like Nendoroid heads are getting smaller, but perhaps it’s just me getting dumber. 

I keep getting tinier and tinier model kits because they look adorable to me, forgetting that my shaky (and shakier with each day) hands are going to make it a pain in the lower back, completing these. Then when I finally have them in-hand, I keep thinking maybe I’ll just keep them in box, because the packaging is so cute. T___T;;; I suck!!! These are super cute though, so I had to get both versions, and I don’t regret it. I know I would have saved a lot on S/H if I hadn’t purchased these inexpensive kits in August, but I couldn’t resist or wait until they were already all sold out. So, I got them, and then cursed when I got my payment request for August items and saw the shipping costs for the whole order un-split. DX

A Review Of NGIL

After 6 years, I figured I should finally write a review as I’m about to buy another one. I originally bought this for my husband because he was always stealing a similar tote that was gifted to me. was planning on going into the city & meeting a friend @ the flea the other week and then also ended up winning the Some Like it Hot lottery! I didn’t purchase anything crazy and ended up passing up on some v cheap Leopoldstadt props because they just seemed impractical to own offstage (an e-cigar and prop newspapers printed in Polish I believe? Very cool but I was really on the hunt for general merch).

Anyway, it was a nice day and my first time at the flea- always very cool being surrounded by people who like the same sort of things you do & love supporting the arts. Some Like It Hot was fantastic, although we snuck way forward in our mezzanine seats because capacity was LACKING. Such a shame it’s closing because this is the kind of show that deserves to have a long & happy life on Broadway for the choreography and sheer talent alone :// still thinking about random holes in the book but also got my mini Jack Lemmon DVD haul when I got home that night (Jack Lemmon you will always be famous) and will have to consult w/ the OG film. Smh if someone did Promises, Promises this season and SLH wasn’t closing before Days of Wine and Roses opens the Jack Lemmon musical universe we could’ve witnessed… anyway!

The next day I went to put it into my car player that houses some other cast albums and,,, it didn’t get eaten but it won’t go in :// I’ve got things playing now on it now, but the 3 cds in my car are not ejecting… cursed to live in a 2003 SUV!!

My little haul, complete w/ cursed bdj in my bag on the train, Jack Lemmon classics not readily avail on streaming (woohoo physical media!). I will have a different strategy next time but also the price u pay liking random, smaller shows!
