which 3d mario is your favourite to control?
real life mario. i take the controller out and i find him in the wild and i make him run and ground pound poles for free money coins. though sadly sometimes mario has to sleep. it's like sleeping but for mario. the mario council doesn't like the ethics of controlling mario but he says "waho" and "yippy" when i press the buttons so i think they're wrong.
#ask#anon#if you cant find a mario. dont worry.#you know mario odyssey? yeah you can control telephone pole. you can control frog. yeah cool#you can control things with controllers. they wouldnt call it that if it couldnt#mario dreams of spagegi. sometimes ravoli. sometimes even mama mima.#dont wake him up too early or he'll experience Super Mario Blood Rage#anyway to truthfully answer? i havent played a lot of 3D mario platformers outside of 64 and Sunshine#like i played a lot of 64 and Sunshine growing up#i played galaxy but it was only a rental. so i had to return him to the store. so sad :(#i have galaxy 2 but. something about 2 doesnt match up to galaxy 1 in my mind and i dont know why that is.#like with some games i can tell you what i dont like about their sequels.#sly cooper 2? really enjoyable but i missed the purely platforming aspect of 1#DBZ Budokai (any game after 1)? no cool ass cutscenes and no Zarbon 🙄#like i know Budokai 3 has the better combat but. i dont really play a lot fighting games#so Budokai 1's simple kick-punch-ki blast is enjoyable for me#plus the story mode and Zarbon is what makes it for me for DBZ Budokai.#but yeah mario galaxy 2? couldnt tell you what makes it weird to me compared to 1.#i think the controls across most 3D marios are good. cant pinpoint one i find the most Fun to Control#now if we said platformers in general? hard to say since id need to refresh my hands memory on how some play#i dont have a working copy of Sly Cooper 1. or atleast one that isnt incredibly scratched to hell.#but if i had to guess. sly cooper 1 would be really high up.#jak & daxter 1 had some nice movement the last i played it. i 100%'d it but was kinda sad there was barely a reward for doing so#anyway im sorry this doesnt really answer your question anon. one day i'll be able to have a proper answer#thank you for the ask anon!!

Okay, here’s what we know about the new Touhou game:
A) It’s animal-themed, in that the story blurb talks about youjuu (animal youkai), all the known playable characters other than Reimu/Marisa are youjuu, and the Japanese title is 獣王園, roughly meaning “beast king garden.” Given that Yuuma has previously been referred to as a King of Beasts and we know that the animal spirits from WBaWC are back, it’s pretty likely imo that we’ll see some of the animal yakuza again.
B) It’s a Phantasmagoria-type game, meaning head-to-head multiplayer danmaku battles like PoFV. However, the blurb also mentions that the gameplay will be closer to a standard Touhou game, and story mode might have different mechanics to make it play better as a single player game.
C) No Mima, unless she turns into a catgirl.

So I'm going to start speculating a little about future D20 seasons, just because we're running out of JY and thinking about that makes me sad.
My guess is that we're getting another four side quests, plus the replays of the Time Quangle live shows, before whenever the next IH season is (probably jan or feb 2025). From Dropout's production schedule, most likely at least two, probably three, and maybe all four are either already filmed or filming presently. The strikes may have disrupted this somewhat, however.
We know the names of two from the 5th anniversary video; we also know from the JY FAQ for a fact that one of these two, called "Never Stop Blowing Up" is next.
In the last few years this has been the slot for a campaign not GMed by Brennan or Aabria; I'm going to actually guess that there's a decent chance Brennan also won't be a player though I'm not at all sure of the timing with paternity leave and all. What the season is from that title could be a lot of things, though social media stars or stuntpeople have been guesses I've enjoyed. I think this is going to be a new setting, rather than something set in a preexisting universe, but I could be wrong there and there's been speculation that it might be something Starstruck (in which case I WOULD expect Brennan at the table).
GM possibilities for this or any other season even just from among people who have played on D20 before are too widespread to even do a complete list; highlights who have played on but haven't GMed for D20 and who I understand have experience (and would be excited to see) include but certainly aren't limited to Jasper, Ify, and Anjali from various side quests. Among the IH, Siobhan has made it fairly clear that she's not interested in GMing. I don't know if Ally has experience or not but they would obviously run something wild and I'd be here for it. Lou I believe has DMed home games but not actual plays; I'm uncertain if he'd be interested in running for a show, but I'd certainly watch if he did. Emily and especially Murph have a ton of experience as well but I think NADDPOD is kind of too much for Murph at least to GM outside that. Zac is low-key the IH I think is the most likely to end up GMing a season; rotating heroes is a thing, of course, but I don't think the workload there is as high as NADDPOD's.
We also know a Dungeons and Drag Queens 2 is coming at some point. The most likely format for this is a straightforward sequel with Brennan GMing for either the same four players or four different Queens, but I would actually love to see one of the players from the prior run step into the GM seat if any of them have gotten deeply into the hobby in the meantime. If they swap Brennan out for another DM here, this would maybe be the one season where I'd be delighted for it to be Murph, simply for the makeup possibilities. (One possibility is simply that he wears Cody Walsh cosplay for the season.)
I also think (or maybe I'm just trying to speak into existence) that we will get another 10-episode Aabria-GMed season this year, probably as the lead-in right before the next IH season for the third time running. Burrow's End and ACoFaF are both out of this world, stellar seasons to me (MiMa is... complicated by how much I want the property it's mocking to fade from memory, but that isn't its fault or hers) and I want to see what she does next.
Last, probably between D&DQ2 and that 10-episode season if that happens, we'll probably have another 4-6 episode original. If Brennan DMs D&DQ2 and Never Stop Blowing Up, this will probably be someone else; otherwise, not much to go off of.
It's possible that the live shows end up filling in one of these slots and are treated as a season until themselves, but I think they're going to be released not all in a row but rather to fill weeks between seasons. This might just be a greedy hope on my part, though! I do hope Brennan sits out at least one season, and I'd love it if the person who GMs who isn't Aabria or Brennan is someone who's done less prominent projects. (I'm actually talking myself into really rooting for a Zac-GMed season, though Ify's been my main hope for a long while.)
One thing that does seem to have shifted lately, specifically in Dropout's marketing - in the past, they were always extremely secretive about seasons past the currently airing one until it was complete, with the names not even known until the release of the season trailers. This changed a little when they teased Matt Mercer gming a season (which turned out to be RavWar) during Never After's airing; it's changed much more in the last two seasons, with a teaser for Junior Year coming out before Burrow's End had even started airing and with the names of multiple seasons being given in advance. It wouldn't surprise me if we continue getting little seeds for future seasons as we move forward.

idk there’s just something so like. refreshing??? in how cool doji danshi unapologetically embraces modernity and how it intersects with the characters’ lives/the way they make mistakes. hayate forgot to plug in his phone charger. shun’s bluetooth earbud fell out when he shook his head. mima and his colleagues play a fps zombie video game to promo it. souma tells igarashi to just use the maps app whenever he gets lost. it's not even just tech stuff, because igarashi makes up a series on the spot and gives it a "modern manga title". and the movie advertisement??? the fact that we see people were sharing everything related to it on twitter??? they were posting their mistakes and sharing what they found funny??? everyone is connected, online, plugged in, whatever you want to call it and nata kokone never treats it as a bad thing in cdd (and, no, this isn’t about them blindly devoting themselves to the age of the internet - net generation teacher was a whole commentary of itself on the dangers of social media and the harm it could potentially cause!). like. nata kokone really truly does feel like someone who grew up during the rapid technological shift and actually understands both sides - it’s good and useful and can make people happy and less alone, but they’re also aware of the darker shadows within it. they make absolutely brilliant use of it in storytelling and i’m SO in love with it

Please tell us more about baby Sillabub (when you have the time, of course)! :)
Sillabub was born tiny and frail - almost concerningly tiny. She was what Jellylorum refers to as an “day lark” - a touch too eager to open her eyes, dark like her father’s, to greet the dawn. And Sillabub is very much the morning where her sister is the night - awake before everyone else, but an easy night sleeper, compared to Jemima who is a night owl but cranky and difficult to wake in the morning.
She shot up very *very* quickly though, with her legs growing before the rest of her body could catch up. So you just had this kitten giraffe toddling around, tripping over her own paws, falling face first into the dirt, taller than Pounce even though he was older than her (and he *did not* appreciate that). She also had difficulty gaining weight, though she ate well enough, and was sick often.
Munkustrap was the one who came up with her name, after Jemima parroted that her baby sister was a "silly little devil" (guess which elder cat she heard that one from?) for constantly trying to crawl out of her bedding and escape (she ran her parents ragged - they had to be on rotation duty because Silly was *fast*).
(He had to clarify to Alonzo that it was a playful thing because his response was very much in line with: “I’m sorry - you named my kid after the devil?” - as Demeter laughed).
---
Sillabub sees the cloudy colours around others' ears, just like 'mima can, but she can make no sense of them yet. She pulls her ears, trying to catch the clouds in her claws to look at, but they disappear before she can grasp them. Her sister tells her that she can use that to help cats - but that not every cat could or wanted to be helped.
Her mama gently rubs the flesh of her black ear between her paw pads, and Sillabub widens her eyes the same way she does when she talks with her. She tells her secrets, in not so many words, that Sillabub does not quite understand yet, but remembers. She spends most of her days curled at her side, in the dark, but she wants for nothing. She is fed, she is content; the world outside is a story and a game her mama likes to play with her - the world is far smaller than she thinks; mama tells her she holds it all between her paws, and kisses Sillabub, then Jemima.
Sillabub loves birds. Her papa takes her to watch them early in the morning when the world is still asleep, even though mama tells him he shouldn't, pointing to them and telling her to look in his rapid singsong way, with words he saves special for her and Jemima. Mir, mir, mir, she mewls back in clumsy imitation and he smiles at her. The word for little bird is long for such a tiny thing, Sillabub thinks, and the name he softly coos at her when she rubs her sleepy eyes sounds like "puppet". Papa promises her that when she gets big and stronger that he'll teach her to catch the birds, like a grown up cat. He'll teach her everything she needs to know, and somethings, he hopes, she won't. She’ll have everything she needs. She sits in the circle of his arms and listens and purrs, dozing back to sleep. When she wakes again, she's back home.
Sillabub is curious and "mischievous" , whatever that means. Dada sings to her while he keeps time on his morning watches, ensuring she doesn't fall from his back. He takes her to the pond in the afternoon, letting her dip her little paw in the sun warmed water to touch the rays of sunshine. He tells her about how something he calls "salmon" swims upstream (she's never seen one), and how there are millions and millions and millions of creatures that live in the water. But Sillabub is not one of them, he clarifies, licking her ears until they aren't clogged with pond water anymore. She gets her first collar after that - something to grab onto when two seconds is just enough, because she *is* still as slippery as a fish.

I feel like popular Touhou fanon is split between the Old Bad and the New Bad.
The Old Bad: flanderizing everyone to be lolrandom silly with character traits they don't even have, ignoring PC98 aside from Mima and maybe Shinki if you're lucky, ignoring the print works and post-MoF stuff almost entirely to uphold the first handful of Windows games only, upholding Gensokyo as a paradise and taking the games' chill vibes at face value without wanting to look deeper, yuri as a purely obligatory function of a percieved lack of guys with no real love, kind of a weird blend of performative worship for and actual dismissal of ZUN's vision, in general a gross sheen of 4channer detatched irony to play off any sincere positivity.
The New Bad: flanderizing everyone to be edgy and toxic with character traits they don't even have, ignoring PC98 completely, largely downplaying the games to uphold the print works only, upholding Gensokyo as a grimdark horrorfest stuffed full of cannibalism and refusing to accept any validity to the games' chill vibes, lots of Hashtag Toxic Yuri full of mind control and manipulation with no real love, kind of a weird blend of performative respect for and actual approppriation of ZUN's vision, in general a gross sheen of condescension and rigidity and rejection of fun or "what if"s that aren't needlessly edgy... and still an undercurrent of detatched irony as well somehow.
I get the impression that the second is probably a response to the first, but it strikes me as just as misaimed. Maybe I just haven't been into Touhou enough the past few years to get a feel for where it's currently at or something, but what I remember from when it was my hyperfixation, from taking in every piece of media, game or print, that was available (and translated) at the time, that there's some middle balance between tonal extremes that ZUN is actually shooting for, but neither of the main Fanon interpretations wants to aknowledge for some reason. Everyone forgets that most of the time Reimu is whimsical.

Honestly, after reading that ZUN was shocked to see a Flandre doodle at his kid's school because he 'had no idea there were people who liked such a minor character', I am fully convinced he thinks nobody remembers Mima. He's never going to bring her back because he's sure hardly anybody played the PC-98 games and those who did either don't care or don't remember. He's not doing this on purpose, he's not doing this because he doesn't want her to be around. He is just clueless. Mima is doomed to never reappear.
Unless, that is, one of his kid's classmates wanted to do something really, really funny--

I gave all the vehicles in your Touhou 9 video Mario Kart - style names
Presented here in the standard format
Marisa / Street Sweeper
Sakuya / Meidocycle
Youmu / Spirit Taxi
Reisen / Machine Bun
Yuuka / Weed Killer
Cirno / Formula 9
Lyrica (+ Lunasa) / Initial Key
Medicine / Tox Tanker
Mima / The Classic
Komachi / Sanzu Rider
Eiki / Final Judgment
For some background on the designs for some of the vehicles because I never talked about them Sakuya, Lyrica, Medicine, and Komachi's vehicles were made by a friend of mine who wanted to volunteer designs for me to use, which I later refined to the designs I used. Sakuya's I specifically colored after DIO from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stardust Crusaders due to haha funny jojoke Youmu's car is modeled after the Fiat 500, famously used by Lupin the Third in the eponymous anime series and extremely obvious because Youmu's ghost part is wearing Jigen's hat On the same inspiration, Yuuka's car is a yellow Mercedes Benz SSK 1929 also used by Lupin the Third in the 1971 anime. Reisen's motorcycle is based on a 1984 Honda Goldwing model I found with built in gatling guns because I thought it looked cool and is how I felt Reisen was like when I played Touhou 8 Mima's (and to an extension, Cirno's) is a Ferrari 321B, which was used in the first episode of Lupin the Third 1971 anime (which is also the main inspiration for that entire video's premise(I really like Lupin III)) The numbers on the race cars are a double reference, being that the number 9 is referencing this being the 9th Touhou game and 3 referencing Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream, alongside the 3 being that the entire video is just a giant Lupin III reference. Eiki's I just made something up on the spot because I was struggling to think on what to use so I just drew a box with wheels and rolled with it because it was easy to draw and I could make a joke about her storing hot dogs inside the trunk of it Cirno starts with a Mario Kart kart at the start because I thought it was funny Anyways my favorites are Weed Killer and Sanzu Rider thank you for making these!! Ok managed to catch up on Cheating Detective Satori... surprisingly quickly! Was it as bad as I thought?
....I mean, not really but it's still not... the best. Full review under the keep reading tag. Huge spoilers for the manga, of course.
Ok so, for the first bit before Mizuchi's reveal was... honestly kinda bad, like, Satori could've just... solved the case at the mansion quicker if she just read Sakuya's mind and went "ah yes she had no motive but did it anyway she was possessed" because like, if Mizuchi had been pulling shit like that before in former Hell, shouldn't she have said something? That's kind of a problem in this manga, the characters who should be telling us something are just so "vaguey no explainey". And also, why the fuck wasn't she at the scene more often? Like, why wasn't she the one who interviewed Sakuya? Why Orin? Why does Satori barely show up in a manga called Cheating Detective Satori? I mean, I don't mind it as a narrative choice but with the title it just feels like false advertising at this point.
Overall, the first portion of the manga with the endless "but who's being possessed next?" is honesly kinda frustrating. Also, Reimu, you are literally a shrine maiden and you have experience with ghosts and the like, what's stopping you from using some kind of spiritual techniques to try and track Mizuchi down? Like, why?
And now for the somewhat controversial reveal of Mizuchi...and honestly? I'm fine with it not being Mima. Like, it would have contradicted with her character from the PC-98 games anyways, and also because MORE MIZUCHI PLEASE HOLY FUCKING SHIT HAVE I BEEN CONVERTED TO THE MIZUCHI ENJOYERS CLUB OH MY FUCKING GOD-
Yeah so Mizuchi is my diamond in the rough that is Cheating Detective Satori. I like her character a lot and the parts where she's in it are some of my favourite parts in the manga. However, I think her sudden escalations in power are... well a bit much to say the least? Like, in the Eientei arc they mention how "we don't really know how the jailbreak king posses people" and my first reaction was, "REIMU YOU HAVE SEEN NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT 4 PEOPLE GET PASS OUT AFTER DRINKING SOMETHING, MAYBE YOU COULD INFER THAT THIS JAILBREAK KING CAN ONLY GET TO YOU IF YOU DRINK SOMETHING AND SO YOU MAKE SURE NO ONE DRINKS ANYTHING EVEN IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE EXACT CAUSE OF IT-" which, I guess it was never really properly established but fine, it leads to a cool moment where Mokou gets possesed and all but still. Mizuchi doesn't really have any weaknesses and kinda gets more and more powerful as the manga goes on.
However, if ZUN plays his cards right this could turn into a good thing JUST HEAR ME OUT, PLEASE-
Ok so, before I read the manga I saw the idea that Okina had something to do with Mizuchi getting loose and I fucking love that idea. Mizuchi's rampage in Gensokyo being enabled by Okina (albeit unknowingly) could also help explain the sudden power ups she gets.
[EDIT]: Ok as I was still organizing my thoughts on the manga after this, I realized that the limitation of Mizuchi only being able to posses people who have a grudge on the Hakurei shrine is pretty smart and could be used for some good character conflicts. But I think this is something that's kind of underutilized in the actual manga, despite the fact that it maybe limits who Mizuchi can posses in Gensokyo.
Anyways, the manga is kind of just wallowing with the story, like, why did the protagonists just let Mizuchi get away into former Hell when they could've just... exterminated her then and there. Like, if you still wanted Mizuchi to get away somehow, you could just extend the fight to where Mizuchi swaps from body to body as she makes everyone fight each other for her, so that by the end, everyone is too exhausted to go after her. Other than that, I actually liked the Myouren Temple arc a lot. Like, it isn't perfect per say but I liked it the most. I also liked how in the most recent chapter, we (kind of) learn what Mizuchi's deal is, mainly that something about Gensokyo's creation royally screwed her over. I also think that the twist with her being a member of a family that served the Hakurei shrine was really cool too. I have always liked the idea of there being something darker going on behind Gensokyo's creation. I honest to god don't know how the fuck ZUN is gonna end the manga though. Like, I just wanna know how the hell things are gonna go now, especially with the sealing off of former Hell. Which, side note, but I love how pissed off Yuugi is in the most recent chapter, like, this is the second time now that someone who was meant to take care of the place just ended up ditching it. Of course she's gonna be mad. I'm not against the idea of Former Hell needing to be sealed up, it's just how it gets there that's kind of messy. Like, it's such a drastic decision that just feels to rash for Satori to make, especially considering the fact that Mizuchi was RIGHT FUCKING THERE I'M STILL PISSED OFF THAT THEY JUST LET HER GET AWAY LIKE THAT LIKE WHY?! I feel like that's where a lot of problems with this manga lie, a lot of really interesting plot points and events that are very messily connected.
[EDIT]: Ok so about that last point I missed something with the latest chapter and yeah, Satori planning on getting Reimu to confront Mizuchi personally is a good way narratively to recover from what would normally be something out of character for Satori (This whole post was made in a bit of a hurry after I finished the most recent chapter so the information still needs to set in my brain a little).
Now for my thoughts on the artstyle. I'll be honest, the early artstyle for the manga was really pretty, but didn't really work for a manga style story. It's really nice looking for illustrations, but other than that it's just kinda eh. The page layouts were kind of boring and I think that's what made the earlier chapters feel boring. It also somehow fucked up the way each character talked if that makes any sense??? Like, since there wasn't really much expression in the character's faces, they all kind of started to blend together, even with the dialogue they all felt like they thought and reacted in the exact same way. Not to mention Sakuya's STUPID RINKY DINK LITTLE MAID CROWN WHY IS IT VERTICAL- sorry had to go off on that tangent there, that's always bothered me.
However, the manga's new style is so much better oh my god. Like, everyone translated pretty well into the style, even if it is a teensy bit inconsistent. The page layouts were also really creative and made things a lot easier to read. It only got better as the manga went on too. Can I talk about how beautiful Yuugi looks? Ok so Yuugi looks fucking gorgeous in this manga, like, the artist clearly liked her the most because she just looks *muah* chef's kiss. Also, the fights in this manga are so well done, like, this is EXACTLY what I was missing in Lotus Eaters. Like, all the hits feel weighty and impactful, and not to mention how expressive the characters are. The newer style isn't afraid to give us some really fucking unhinged expressions and I LOVE THAT. It helped make the manga more tolerable.
I said in my review of Lotus Eaters that I would compare the two mangas in terms of writing styles so I'm gonna do that. Lotus Eaters represents a lot of ZUN's strengths in writing, i.e. shorter more character driven stories that wrap themselves up nicely in the end. I think this is probably because ZUN is more experienced with this style of writing, since from what I've gathered, a lot of the other mangas and literary works follow this similar principal. I feel like ZUN doesn't have trouble with writing good characters, but instead struggles with finding ways to make them act consistently throughout a longer narrative. Like, I feel like that's the best way to put it. I feel like a good way to rectify this issue for ZUN is if he tried writing more longer printed works (mainly just to get experience with the format) take what he learned from CDS and apply that.
IDK if I gave Lotus Eaters a rating but I'll do so for CDS. I'd say it's a 4.5/10 if we're being generous. It frustrated me to no end because of how many missed opportunities it had, and it had so much potential to be amazing, even though it has some good qualities that made the experience a bit less painful than what I was expecting. I mean, it's still ongoing so it could get better, but now I'm just more curious to see how it sticks the landing. My math question comparison that I made in my Lotus Eaters review still holds up tho lol.
I remember a post on here saying that JoJo Part 4 is basically just CDS but good. And honestly, now that I've actually read the manga I see what that person meant now lol.

A Case of Withdrawal Symptoms: Ace of Diamond
I’ve followed the Ace of Diamond series (both anime and manga) regularly for years and to this day. Ace of Diamond remains one of my all time favorite stories. Act II, in particular, I feel was even better than the already amazing Act I.
I avoided reading the last 30 or so chapters for a while but the other day I finally read everything and now I feel so in need of something to fill the DnA shaped hole in my heart. So today, I decided to just write about a few of my favorite characters in the manga. Along the way, I’ll also slightly touch upon story points and character relationships/interactions.
~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~☆ ~★~
Kawakami Norifumi
Tumblr media
Nori is my favorite character in the whole Ace of Diamond series, hands down. There is no contest, not even close. Nori is not only a character who we see from the very beginning of Act I and continue to see until the end of Act II, Nori is a very well-written character. He develops gradually in a believable way and at a realistic pace. He is someone whose growth we get to witness.
The best part? Nori is one of, if not the most relatable character among the main cast because he is not a genius, he is not particularly attractive or strong or smart. He has above-average baseball skills at best, with a relatively quiet personality that does not stand out, but a whole lot of resolve and mental fortitude.
Tumblr media
I’ve said this before in a post I wrote way back, and I will say it again: Nori is the kind of person I strive to be. Good at what he does even if he’s not out-of-this-world amazing. Dependable and trustworthy, someone the people around him rely upon. Hardworking and resilient in the face of being looked down upon. Most of all, does not give up on improving himself despite being around people who are naturally better than him.
It’s so easy to lose motivation to learn something when someone else younger and newer comes along and has the abilities you don’t. But Nori reminds me that there is value in improving yourself for your self, that consistency is gained through hard work not “natural talent”, and that center stage cannot shine without the backstage hands.
At the end, when Furuya told Nori directly how much his presence makes him feel at ease, I just cried. Because yes, I did say that everything Nori represents is a good thing to work towards, but it’s also true you may not receive as much recognition as the geniuses. And being acknowledged like that? Hits you right in the feels and the tears of joy just won’t stop.
Miyuki Kazuya
Tumblr media
I think most people who know me in real life or who’ve read my blog think Miyuki is my favorite character because I fangirl about him a lot. Miyuki has a lot of traits I love about a person: talented but hardworking, serious but knows how to have fun. In fact, no matter how much I love fanfiction and fanarts, I tend to be really picky about the ones featuring Miyuki because I find that they often forget or ignore the facets of Miyuki’s personality that I love.
Fan creations tend to depict Miyuki as quiet, cold, and aloof. But for me, the best parts about Miyuki is his fun-loving, goofy attitude and his whole-hearted love and passion for baseball. He likes annoying enemies, poking fun at friends, laughing at other people. He’s not stuffy about hierarchy and judges people based on merit not seniority. He loves new challenges and finds excitement in playing with or against strong baseball players.
And yet, no matter how much I love Miyuki on his own, I feel that his relationships with other characters are some of the best in the series. A lot of his character growth is spurred by a relationship with another character instead of a more individual progress like Nori’s.
Tumblr media
In terms of baseball and as an athlete, his rivalry/friendship with characters like Mima and Narumiya are some of my favorites. I love the wholesomeness of their rivalries. There is never malice or spite when they go against each other in games. Narumiya is probably the person in the series who has known Miyuki the longest. I’ve said this before but I love that Narumiya and Miyuki call each other by their first names. It emphasizes the fact that they’ve known each other since childhood. And now here they are, the stars of their respective teams.
In terms of leadership and as a person, his growth was shown a lot through his partnership with Sawamura and Furuya, his relationship with the Seidou coaching team, Chris, Yuuki, and Maezono, among others. He changes from being relatively self-centered, to thinking more about his teammates and the team as a whole. He learned to be more mindful and sensitive about others, as well as knowing that he can rely on his team as much as he is relied upon.
Finally, his friendship with Kuramochi is one of the most stable, most frequently depicted, and also often overlooked relationships. Though never explicitly stated in the series, Kuramochi is probably the closest thing Miyuki has to a best friend. They don’t have many really emotional moments together, but they understand each other and have each other’s backs. Kuramochi is the person Miyuki confides in when he has problems. And they’re both the first to notice something good or bad about the other. I don’t know about you, but that constancy is amazing. Regardless of whether they remain close in the future or not, I think a friendship like theirs is something to treasure for life.
Sawamura Eijun

DnA is one of the few series whose main character I love. I think it was in one of my first ever posts about DnA that I mentioned how Sawamura is someone you really want to cheer for. A lot of anime/manga, especially in the sports genre, tell the viewers/readers that *insert main character name* makes you want to support them and help them succeed. But, Sawamura is one of the very few who actually makes you feel that way.
Personally, I believe this is due to the effective way the author shows that Sawamura is a multidimensional character. He has a very clear base personality that defines him as a person, but like every human in history, he is not just that. Different situations and even the shortest moments can bring out anger or frustration or even silence.
Sawamura is loud, optimistic, hardworking. But he can also get annoyed at his teammates, can feel jealous of his rivals, is susceptible to judging people without getting to know them, or can put far too much pressure on himself unnecessarily. I love that the series shows all of this unapologetically. He is not good with certain types of people, but even if he never becomes their best friend, he learns to get along with them. These types of character building make him human, and make you appreciate his usual noisy, laughing self even better.
Tumblr media
My favorite part about Sawamura is how open he is to both learning new things and being corrected when he’s wrong. Not only is he willing to be taught, he does not ignore people that point out his mistakes. Of course, he gets embarrassed but he apologizes if he hurts someone, and trains when his skill or knowledge is lacking or wrong.
If not for this attitude, Chris would not have taught him all the baseball basics he clearly lacked, he would not be close enough to Miyuki to experiment with his pitches together or hangout in his room, Kataoka would not have given him the chance to be on the roster, Okumura would have stayed disappointed in him. He would never have been good enough to be the ace of the team.
And what’s even more amazing is that it’s not just the readers who go through a getting-to-know phase with Sawamura. His own teammates go from getting annoyed at his yelling to actually looking forward to hearing it, from wanting to support him to being supported by him as well, from cheering him on to relying on him as their ace.

I don’t know if I’ll do something like this again, but I definitely want more DnA content coming my way because I am missing it so much. Tereading the series right now only makes me even sadder, but what can I say, I love making myself happy-sad.

Alrighty guys, let's play a little game! You pick a character and a number between 1 and 27. You can do this as many times as you'd like. In response, I give you headcanons in accordance with the prompt related to the number - but you don't know what the prompt is until it's picked.
Character options: Sun, Moon, Eclipse, Mimas, Pumpkin, Midnight, Noon, and Kabocha
Additionally, you can pick any of my aus, if you'd like.
You can reblog, comment, or send an ask for this

there's enough space for us to dance
mina & 10th member!reader // fluff + smut
Tumblr media
no you did not know why you were awake at midnight and in the company's practice room again. all you knew that because you were there at that godly hour, you ended up creating more dances that you didn't need to know instead of sleeping the night away to rest
you didn't care, you loved the way your muscles burned throughout the dance and your shouts and bursts of energy when a good song pops through the speakers that makes you want more. so it was fine you suppose
what made it better was that mina was also there with you, just beat tired from the amount of dancing and practice you both had the entire day with the group
while mina had better flow and dance than you [the others would complain that it was false but you saw how she moved her abs like that and you can't lie] you had better stamina and flexibility. both of you had followed this routine of you dancing till you were finally tired and mina would drag you home to rest
"y/n/n" mina groaned from the couch and looked at you "until when will your body handle this amount for dancing, it feels like you've been running our entire concert routine"
"five-huff-more songs unnie I promise" you barely got the sentence finished before you heard another groan
"I love you, I really do, but I do want to stay in bed soon baby" mina pouted "don't deprive me from my games love! i promise to even teach you how to play shooter games"
you giggle at her pouting at you to let her play her games at her pc. yes she loves you enough to drag you home before overdoing your dancing but she would also like to go home and play
"alright alright" you give in to her pouting and went to switch to the last song "I'll do one last and we'll head back home"
mima cheers from the couch and you laugh at how cute she looks, before turning around to face the mirror to execute your favorite self made choreographed dance
anytime I'm alone, I can't help thinking about you
all I want, all I need, honestly, is just me and you
he giving me that good shit
that make me not quit, that good shit
he giving me that good shit
that make me not quit, that good shit
you loved the way this song made you feel, how power was just coursing through you through every move you made. each line bringing out more of your true unrestrained desire when it comes to dance, with each move willing to leave someone watching in a trance
you know it does with the way mina's eyes stays on you with a burning gaze. it made you want to do please her more
oh he give it to me
everyday, everyday, everyday
oh he'd give it to me
everyday, everyday, everyday
oh he'd give it to me
everyday, everyday, everyday
oh he'd give it to me
everyday, everyday, everyday
you feel a pair of hands tug on your shirt and suddenly you come face with mina. she followed suit on the dance that you loved to do every time you had to stay behind to burn off your energy, making her know every part of the dance by simple watching you do it over and over again
then something shifted
over the rest of the song, you would feel her hands get dangerously close to your ass and breasts while yours would roam around her arms and abs. each move bringing you both to see the brewing tension that has been happening for a while now
when it was at the end of the song, mina had pinned you against the couch and had started kissing you senseless, with little to no space between your bodies
"minari" you whimpered out the moment you felt her hands go under your shirt and roam around dangerously "oh god unnie wait hold on-hmphh!"
"so cute" she mumbles in between the kisses "so fucking cute god"
"mina" you push her away slightly and it takes a good amount of strength to not kiss her again "home please"
not wanting to lose more time, you both hurriedly get back to the your dorm. the rest of the of the maknae line opting to have a sleepover with namosa leaving you with a perfectly empty place for you to get loud
you didn't even get past the kitchen area when mina drags you to your room with such excitement. it makes you want to giggle with how she looked. it looked like she was eager to play some games with you ready to break your sleep schedule again
the only reason you didn't is that she immediately got you under her on the bed and started kissing you senseless, picking off where both of you left off
you could feel the way she was eager to get you off and make you scream with the eager bites along your neck and the grip of her hands on your thighs. it didn't mind you one bit, as you were also eager to worship her as a goddess with the way your hands gripped her shoulders and legs locking her in to keep her close to you
"y/n/n" mina was getting impatient, her hands tugging on your shirt to take it off "clothes off, want to feel you more"
so you started removing all of your clothing and her's with eagerness and kisses shared in between, not wanting to spend a single second too far away with each other
with no more clothing between you, mina starts kissing, licking and biting all over your body, leaving small marks along the areas of your skin that you could hide well from the public eye. she gets bolder with her actions with each whimper, gasp and moan that you make
"minari" you moan out, grasping her shoulders as she leaves more marks along your thighs "inside please"
"as you wish my love" she can't say no to you, so she starts getting you warmed up by licking you up right away. her tongue trying to get as much in as possible while she brings one of her hands to rub your clit with small tight circles
then when she hears you moans starting to get louder, she starts to add in fingers to the mix, two getting inside of you earning a loud moan from you
then she doesn't stop, she let's loose on fucking you so good that you would finish feeling your body hurt good
"oh god oh fuck it's so fucking good–oh fuck" you cry out as she starts to gain and maintain a fast pace with no intention of stopping "oh fuck I think I'm going to cum–oh fuckkk–"
"cum for me" mina moans and starts suck on your clit that sends your eyes rolling back "I want to taste you so badso please fucking cum for me"
you cry out as you do, feeling her satisfied hum as she tastes you against her mouth. it's still not over though, as she then redoubled her efforts to make you cum again and your thighs start to shake against the sensitivity
"m-mina I'm getting–hmph–fucking sensitive–ah!" you moan out but made no attempt to move away from her. your hips starting to rise up and grind on her face to get more pleasure
"want to ruin you" she stops eating you out but still let's her fingers continue and adding one more to fill you up even more "want you shaking for me because you're mine baby, all mine to ruin"
she's smirking and you know the night wasn't over yet with the way she curls her fingers inside you making your mind short circuit
it's fine, you didn't want to do anything in the morning anyway. the aching back and legs sounds like a "in the morning problem" that can easily be remedied with mina's cuddles, kisses and a good brunch
your girlfriend wanted to fuck you till your brain is gone and you know that whatever she wants, you will give it all
