i. love my roommates. They are my closest friends in school rn. But im giving them too much credit because apparently if I'm cooking them food that is vaguely identifiable as having Asian origins and especially if I dont disclose its history and culture it belongs to they assume it's Vietnamese food because I'm Vietnamese

every trendy instagram short-video recipe that i've seen lately is using those super thinly sliced cuts of beef/pork/etc. that you would use for hotpot. when imo most of the time it's completely not necessary (you could probably use ground meat or slice it yourself for a lot of these dishes, with mille-feuille nabe being the only exception i can think of) plus the thin sliced cuts are always more expensive so ive never felt the need to use them. but its getting to me after like months of exposure and im now dying to try whatever the latest tomato beef rice cooker hack thing is so i can feel like this

The beauty of nabe is you can do it at home with a camp stove or two in the backyard and some basic broth ingredients then have people bring stuff to throw in the pot

I made mille-feuille nabe and it was really good but my pan was too big so it fell apart, i wanna try again with my slow cooker and really jam it in there

Week 7

The most amazing meal I've experienced is home-cooked meals that I haven't had in a long time. After spending a year in Samcheok, my mother made mille-feuille nabe and braised short ribs, and my sister made bulgogi hamburgers and pasta herself. Among them, the most memorable menu was homemade bulgogi hamburger. There was a sweet sauce on the buttered bagel bread, and the onions were caramelized and topped. It was really delicious. Also, there was bulgogi in the hamburger that I really like. As soon as I cut the hamburger with a knife to eat it, the bulgogi overflowing with too much was like a waterfall. I want to introduce this hamburger to Robin later on!

I know I haven't posted all of them here yet, but this is just something fun I can do in the meantime and preemptively have available. The puns are the really fun parts, after all. Not all of them are DB ocs, and not all of my ocs have name puns. These are just the ones that do. If I ever make more, I'll add to this.

Maki Asabi: 巻き寿司 (makizushi) -> sushi rolls. Asabi -> wasabi, commonly served with sushi in the United States.

Kabocha: Kabocha, a type of squash. Also referred to as the Japanese pumpkin.

Frez: Fraise -> strawberry

Korget: Courgette -> zucchini

Geler: Geler -> to freeze

Ube: A purple yam common in Filipino cooking.

Asaroth: "Azarath metrion zinthos" -> incantation used by Raven in DC comics.

Shimbaree: "Shimbaree, shimbarah" -> incantation used in Barney and Friends. Her birth name, Chimbara, stems from the same pun.

Sala: "Sim sala bim" -> German equivalent to "abracadabra", but also used as an incantation in Jonny Quest.

Inri: Hebrew magical formula for reincarnation.

Selica: "Salakadoola mechikaboola bibbidi bobbidi boo" -> incantation used in Disney's "Cinderella"

Ruha: Bruja -> witch
