She Finally Went Home - 03/06/2024

Trump only lost Vermont, but it was very close. All the other states he won by large margins, in six of them by more than 50 points. So, this morning Nikki Haley suspended her campaign. She finally went home, good riddance. Aside from all the legal challenges, Trump can now focus on beating Joe Biden. That is of course if he remains in the race, which many people doubt he will. I'm not sure what to think on it, I'm fifty-fifty. I really don't know if he'll be the nominee. I mean, just looking at him walk and talk it just doesn't seem possible that he can make it, yet the democrats don't seem to have a viable alternative, save for maybe Michelle Obama or Gavin Newsom. Apparently, Michelle Obama doesn't really want it, and Newsom's horrible track record in California would not give him much of a chance to beat Trump. Forget Kamala Harris, she's worse than Biden. It seems to me that the democrats have painted themselves into a corner, they know it, they're panicking, and I love it!

The chilling adventures of Sabrina could’ve been a 10/10 show.

It was dark, campy and creative.

It tackled sexuality, gender identity, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, and to top it off most of the main characters were actually interesting.

Even the mortal storylines at Baxter high were just as engaging as the storylines at The academy of unseen arts… where they studied actual magic and the occult.

And while there were a few small issues that presented themselves in the later parts of the series

the one constant irritation for me throughout all four parts was the entitled, immature, narcissistic, privileged, hypocritical self centered white savior of a main character…

Gavin:

He's got a bachelor's in criminal law with a minor in psychology

Was a multi-sport athlete in high school and still works out, but sucks at fighting

Party guy in college, has mellowed out a *lot* since then but he has maintained an impressively high alcohol tolerance

Used to be a big crybaby all the way up until middle school, which he's still embarrassed about

Didn't sleep with Mason because he wanted feelings to be involved, and initially assumed Mason would lose interest eventually (now surprised to be proven wrong)

Lauren:

Has a bachelor's double majoring in Comp Sci and Art History

She's biracial (Rebecca is Filipino+Chinese, Rook was Scottish)

Huge history and book enthusiast, trying very hard not to be weird about it to Nate (or barrage him and Adam with questions)

AuDHD, always finds incredibly disruptive ways to fidget

Literally in love with Nate, still too afraid to pursue a relationship (look at her UB, she is the emotionally unavailable captain now)

While most of the media and the Democratic Party dismiss him as an annoyance, the Republicans I spoke with believed that if he ever were the Democratic nominee, both Trump and DeSantis would be hard pressed to defeat him.

MICHELLE'S MENTOR

So, fun fact: I was trying not to spam my reacts in chat this time, because I was feeling self-conscious about how much I talk. I got through almost the entire beach scene without expressing any of the many, MANY emotions I was feeling.

The thing that made me break my vow of silence, open discord, and run over to my group DMs was hearing the name "Jayce Rogers."

To which I simply responded,

"NO FUCK WHAT?!?!?!?!??!??!"

I'm still in shock, gang.

Michelle Kim was a hot-tempered kid who went to Valor Academy, had the Protégé playbook, and Jayce Fucking Rogers was her mentor. They fought a lot. She was reckless with her powers until the accident with Gavin's parents, at which point the trauma made her 180 in personality and become the control freak (hah) that she remained until her death.

It seems like Jayce didn't even keep in touch with her. Gavin says he'll have to tell him what happened.

I... don't know how to properly express my emotions, so I'm just kind of. Restating the facts. What else can I do?

Jayce Rogers grew up, graduated Valor Academy, and moved in with (and probably married) Ethan Valez. He became the sort of Doctor Strange side-character who occasionally saved the world from threats singlehandedly and never mentioned them again. And at some point in all of that, he became a mentor to a hot-tempered girl named Michelle Kim— a girl who, without his presence, would undoubtedly also have the Nova playbook.

They fought. A lot. Jayce probably complained about her to Ethan all the time. Did Suheyla know? Does Suheyla know, right now, that someone's going to have to tell Jayce?

You don't become a mentor without reason. Even if all Jayce wanted to do was help her control her powers, he stepped up to the plate and did that, despite all his dislike of kids. There's an entire story we never saw there.
