Marriage is hard. It takes faith, courage, vulnerability, respect, forgiveness, sacrifice, dismissal of ego, and desire to grow. But even the best relationships are not without their struggles. . . The thing I hear most from my clients is that they are conscious and wanting to expand and grow but their partner doesn’t. To which I reply, why has this person been attracted into your life? For all the world is our mirror. In our desire for our partners to change, we expose that in which we are unchanged and static. . . When you turn your mirror, you get to bring the energy of what you want into your relationship. Instead of focusing on what your partner isn’t satisfying, focus on the attraction and positive attention from when you first started dating or elevated times in your relationship. . . Remember and reinvigorate the little things that you did for one another. Going back and enjoying the memories of when it was good is a great way to find a positive vibration about a situation that has grown stale or disconnected. . . Or, seek out and focus on the little things that are working presently. Finding gratitude for all the things that are good. It’s all about how you decide to line up your energy about your relationship. When we stop judging one another it becomes easier to love. . . Are these the same rules of engagement for abusive relationships? Absolutely not! When you are in a relationship (any relationship) with someone with unhealed trauma, that often manifests as an abusive dynamic with a person with a personality disorder.
