Megumi Acorda - Aftershow
i literally cannot put into words how emotional this song makes me... megumi acorda are masters of creating the most nostalgic and hazy rock music, i think
and if maybe you decide to stay
i can show you things that i can't say
11/10

unexpectedly
(pairing: hq! oikawa x reader)
now listening to: unexpectedly by megumi acorda
You’ve learned over the course of the past few years of your existence that in one way or another, we will always experience loss. Like the baby-sized wallet your Aunt gave you on your 3rd birthday, your pet hamster that died an unfortunately gruesome death, the first pair of earrings you ever bought for yourself, friends you lose as you grow apart and venture into other paths or the kind little old lady who succumbed to the natural course of life.
Perhaps we’re meant to lose the precious things we have, eventually.
You have experienced loss, felt loss, tried to avoid loss by keeping yourself miles away from things you love but you never learn, do you? Because you’re in Buenos Aires, miles away from home, a few feet away from him, tracing your names in the sand.
“Y/n?” you turn to the direction from where your name was called, “Holy fuck is that really you?”
Your feeling that moment was indescribable, your heart fluttered, your knees trembled, your cheeks grew warm, and you’re stuck in place but you also want to run away at the same time.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck, I did not think this through at all.
“Hi?” you ask (or say?) stupidly.
Oikawa squats down to your level and stares at your face, “Mierda, it really is you.”
“I don’t know how to speak Spanish yet.”
His eyes sparkle and he laughs and puts his hands under your arms and helps you stand up, “So what the hell is my best friend, who absolutely hates going on long trips, doing in Argentina out of all places?”
You look at the sunset instead of him, “I realized something.”
“Mhm”
“Unexpectedly, you mean so much to me, Toru.”
But you want to say so much more, how you felt like a part of you moved to Argentina with him, how you realized that you can very well stand on your own feet but need him to be there to stabilize you, that maybe being miles away from him will be the very cause of you losing him.
“I would hope so,” he joked but the shine on his eyes persistent, “will you finally upgrade my title to boyfriend now?”
“Let’s take this slow.”
“You literally went all the way here.”
Miles away from home, you intertwine your fingers with his. Instantaneously, with your consciousness co-existing with his to change the location of your home, you smell the sea, feel the sky and while witnessing the everchanging waves you find your right direction.
likes and reblogs are greatly appreciated! <3
