So, what are your favorite MLP ships? I don't know if you've already been asked this before, but meh
less about being asked, more about me posting them nonstop lmao;
#1 Sunlight - (Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle) Number one and two are interchangable due to my mood, because theyre both incredible, and easily fit on a "favorite ships of all time" list i could make for myself. Sunset and Twilight shipping is to me in general all about potential. And if im talking endgame, the show would have ended so, so much better, if there were two lesbians inheriting the night and day. These two are it, with flying colors. Going from rivals to friends to close friends to lovers that would do anything for eachother, to ruling the world in a golden age together, my goodness, this ship is like the chef's choice at a menu. I also may have written a large fanfic of how i would write an entire season of the show with Sunset on it, heheheheheh. Also worth stating, i concider Sunset x Scitwi To be on the same level, if not being the same ship, even if Scitwi is a diffrent character, if someone loves Twilight Sparkle, they would love her in all her versions. #2 Rarijack - (Rarity and Applejack) Did i say sunlight is the chef's choice at a menu? Rarijack is the whole fucking menu. What more can be said about the legend of how the most beautiful Unicorn and the strongest Earth Pony fell in love? The City girl x Country girl vibes are incredibly strong, the opposites attract is at it's PEAK, and both of these girls can easily concider themselves the luckiest women in the world for having the other. It was the first couple i shipped on the show when i watched passively, 'cause i instantly noticed their potential, and c'mon how couldn't anybody. They're the hydrogen bomb of mlp ships, and they could easily sustain an entire season on their back if it was about their love story, which is, painfully, not canon, like any of these ships. Also i'm literaly writing a fic that takes Shrek 1 and makes it about Rarijack and it's as dumbly amazing as it sounds #3 Startrix - (Starlight Glimmer and Trixie Lulamoon) Honestly this one is easy to ship because it's just endlessly funny. The biggest fail girl that almost destroyed the world falls for the only girl thats a bigger loser than her, and that is endlessly entertaining; specialy because compared to trixie, Starlight is the baddest bitch lmao, and they would hype eachother so much. (insert that post of loser ass gf being hyped up by other cool gf) And there's just an appeal to two unhinged women finding eachother and making eachother... better? worse? I think theyre both at their best when traveling together. #4 Flutterdash - (Fluttershy and Rainbow dash) Fun fact, i didn't ship this until i wrote "the return of midnight sparkle" i just had to write scenes with certain themes, and i realised it would be helpful to further the themes and plot and character development of the protagonist if Rainbow and Fluttershy were macking on eachother. And it grew on me! Daredevil girl and shy girl lift eachother up and improve eachother. Honorable mention: That one ship with with Cadance, Shining armor, and Chrysalis; because it is honestly funny as fuck; no matter how you spin it, be it cadance and chrysalis mack on eachother and shining tolerates it, or the Princess and the Queen have a silent rivalry as they try to be with their himbo, or even if the three of them gross together. it's always funny. (queue chrysalis with the "im not the stepdad im the dad that stepped up" shirt while playing with flurryheart)

Cool questions!
1: when playing, does the duo re-act stuff from movies? Like anakin vs obi wan or when Shrek is escaping from the dragon?
2: what’s one thing that one does shocks the other? Like Chris disliking bananas on pancakes? (Read that from an earlier post of yours)
3: for the superfamily, what’s one story you would write for them?
4: what’s one story you would write for Chris for his own book?
5: same as Jake?
Phew! Took me a good while but I finally was able to get to answering this one @pin-crusher2000 . Thanks for the ask
1) Oh most definitely Chris and Jake would reenact so many Star Wars duels, especially Obi Wan vs Anakin as they can float around which make doing those fancy acrobatics all the easier. Bonus points if they utilize those cardboard tubes and paint them to their lightsaber colors and Jake using his speaker’s speakers to play the music in the background
Otherwise, they certainly would also do the Dragon Escape but most tellingly if Meredith was watching them, reenact kaiju battles
2) Oh, Jake putting Milk Before Cereal which horrifies not just Chris but also Mar’i and Dick
Also, Chris not minding the dumb fun of the Bayformers films as much as Jake does
3) I think I can have Clark, Lois, Kara, Conner, Chris and Jon get blasted across space and time, across multiple time periods, alternate histories or possible futures of Metropolis during a big battle against the Time Trapper. For example, Lois winds up in Metropolis in 1889 during the height of the Gilded Age, her mini adventure being to expose a corrupt all powerful banker while Conner is sent into a Metropolis that’s controlled by Germany in a scenario should they had won the Second World War. The finale for the arc would see the Superman Family reunite at the End of Time itself coming face to face with the Trapper, but it won’t be just the family as many of their new friends they met all across their little adventures assemble to help as well.
4) Less of an entire story and more a one to two issue arc involving Nightwing Phantom taking on a cosmic being in a game of wits and intelligence rather than fisticuffs, all for the sake of saving reality itself. Think this being akin to say A 4th Dimension Imp like Mr Mxyzptlk or more overtly the Celestial Toymaker from Doctor Who. The real meat though is whatever thoughts and emotions are transpiring inside of Chris’ mind space as I place this after he has his reaffirmation from Dad Clark of him belonging to Earth in light of Zod’s invasion. He thinks about this planet he’s trying to truly accept as his home in spite of his origins and how much he must defend it from this entity while also trying to reaffirm himself that he belongs with his real family the Kents despite Zod’s words permeating his thinking space.
5) Here, I take some inspiration from the Batman TAS episode “The Underdwellers” in which like in that episode, Jake would be investigating some recent pickpocketing going on across the Bludhaven streets, all of them being committed by street urchins and runaways, a lot of them around his age range doing such under the tyrannical rule of a supposed caretaker who treats them rather horribly. After running into one of the urchins and rescuing them from an incoming subway train, Jake and the kid become friendly with each other to where the kid can lead our hero to the whereabouts of his comrades. Coming along for the ride is one of Jake’s rouges, long time best frenemy Cody Cunningham aka Lion Master, who also had caught wind of the pickpocketing so he comes along with Skybird in this investigation, forming something of an alliance between them. This proves handy as like the Sewer King in “The Underdwellers”, the villain has vicious sewer gators that serve him which Cody’s lions are able to fend off while Skybird persues and eventually captures the villain. With that, the orphans are finally freed from his reign, taken in by the Services and able to see the light outside once again. Throughout this story, we not only can get glimpses into Jake’s head as this in a way is deja vu with his history of failing to save street orphans from a supervillain once before but also once Lion Master enters the picture, the two can have talks about each other’s deal and how Lion Master in many ways just wants a place to call a home after surviving in the streets for so long and his sympathies for Jake’s situation in light of this case.
As the two were successful working together and Cody realizes he feels much better doing some actual good rather than remaining a small time thief with a gimmick, he finally takes up Jake’s offer to renounce his old life as a rouge, first turning himself in to the authorities and spending some time in Juvie to make up for his robberies (his lions we’re thankfully tamed enough for the authorities to keep in that meantime) then once he gets out of his sentence for good behavior, moves into the Grayson Apartment complex with a place of his own. A new fresh start for him, especially when his new landlord, Dick Grayson, drops by and hearing of his skills as a lion tamer offers him and his feline companions a job at Haly Circus.

Top 10 Best Polish DUBs part 2
6. The Ice Age franchise, similar to the Shrek and Madagascar franchises, seems to be way more popular and liked in Poland than in the USA. While the general sentiment in the US is that the first one is somewhat of an underrated classic and the best and every single one got only worse and worse. Meanwhile, in Poland, its sequels are held in much higher regard. Yet again, it's thanks to the funnier dialogue and much better voice actors. Sid became an iconic character just like Donkey from Shrek or King Julian from Madagascar, most likely thanks to the fantastic work of Cezary Pazura, an actor and voice actor who makes everything he's in so much better. Piotr Fronczewski as Diego is also great with his warm fatherly voice he sounds way more sincere. If Diego had the same voice in the English version he would have even more simps fans. Wojciech Malajkat is great as Manfred. He would later voice Puss in Boots from Shrek. As the franchise went on not only the quality of writing went downhill but also they started casting celebrities instead of the real VAs or even regular actors. Queen Latifah, Drake who was in like 5 minutes of a movie.
Tumblr media
7. Winx Club is way better in Polish, in my opinion. I don't know if it's because their VAs aren't actual teenagers who don't have as much experience, or if they're adults trying to sound like teens and failing miserably, or if their voices are just that annoying. Whatever the case might be the Polish actors strike a great balance between sounding mature but youthful at the same time. Like teens that are on their way to becoming adults but still with some childish tendencies. Not a twelve-year-old trying to sound grown-up or a 40-something-year -old trying way too hard to be cool and hip with the kids. And Polish versions of the songs are amazing.
Tumblr media
youtube
8. Totally Spies makes their heroins sound way more mature just like Winx Club. To not repeat myself let me tell you about something different, the dialogue changes. It's not censorship or completely changing the meaning of the dialogue but the vocabulary. In the show, they are very much Valley girls. In the Polish version, they still use slang that was (and still is) used in Poland at the time but they also were capable of using big words. Maybe English slang is more annoying, at least to me.
Tumblr media
9. W.I.T.C.H. BLAH BLAH better and more mature voices BLAH BLAH better and funnier dialogue BLAH BLAH. What is worth mentioning are the voices of the male characters. Caleb's English VA doesn't fit him whatsoever. I know Greg Cipes sounds like that even as an adult but still. If Caleb looked like his comic version he would be fine but not when he looks like he is 18 or older. Imagine my shock after growing up with the Polish deep manly voices only to watch the English version and hear boys who haven't finished going through puberty yet. I've heard that the Polish language is sometimes referred to as snake language because of the ć, ś, ź, ż, sz, cz, and many other sounds, so Cedric's VA has a time to shine. English Phobos sounds more whiny than menacing.
Tumblr media
10. Shark Tale is regarded as one of the worst animated movies ever both in terms of animation and the story. Highly exaggerated in my opinion. I mean it's not great but it's not Food Fight, Video Brinquedo, Animated Titanic, and many others. I think why it's not as hated by me and many other Poles it's thanks to its dubbing. I don't know if you know this, but there is a Polish comedy ''Kiler''. The whole plot of the movie is that the main character is mistaken for a killer. So, the Polish dubbing of Shark Tale is basically a parody of this movie. They even got Cezary Pazura (the guy playing Sid) who played the main guy in ''Kiler''. Instead of gay-lisped Jack Black we have Jarosław Boberek aka King Julian. Now that's a team-up better than the Avengers.
Tumblr media
It was a surprisingly hard list to make, not because there are no great Polish dubbings but because there are so many good ones. Any movie or show could've been on the list. To make it easier I asked myself ''What Polish dubbings are better than the original?'' and ''What dubbings had the biggest impact on me but also on my country as a whole?''.
The reason why most of the list consists of shows and movies from the early 2000s is because that's when Poland had a little golden age. There were a bunch of great movies and shows coming out, so it was easy to strike gold. (And that's when I was born.) Now with all the trash coming out, it's way harder to do. The translators for ''Wish'' tried their best to fix those broken lyrics.
But nobody's perfect. I'm a firm believer that there is no terrible Polish dubbing but they still can make mistakes, questionable decisions, and voices that will make you switch the channel until they stop talking.
See you soon, in ''Top 10 worst Polish DUBs''.

Main Alias/Moniker: Hulk
Legal Name: Dr. Bruce Robert Banner
Other Aliases: Doc, Big Guy, Hulkster, Greenfoot, Jade Jaws, Green Giant, Shrek
Date of Birth: May 19th, 1975 (Age: 30)
Status: Alive
Species: Human Mutate (Gamma Mutate)
Sex: Male
Gender: Cisgender
Height/Weight: [Bruce] 5'8'' (173cm) / 125 lbs (57kg); [Hulk] 7' - 8'5'' (2 - 2.5m) / 1,150 - 4,000 lbs (680 - 1,815kg)
Hair/Eye Color: [Bruce] Brown / Brown; [Hulk] Black / Green
Timeline (1975 - 1985): My past with Bruce aside, I don't think you need me to tell you that most of what's been written about the Hulk is bull. Nothing but conspiracy rags that make parsing the fact from the fiction even harder (If I were a more paranoid type, I'd say it's on purpose. I wouldn't put it past Ross or SHIELD to keep the public on their toes about Bruce, no matter how much good press he gets. I'm just as biased as any other guy, but I'm biased in the sense that I was just some kid that a so-called monster tried to help. Do with that what you will.
Bruce has said that his earliest memory was being pulled out from a car wreck by his dad during a rainy night. Brian Banner went back to get his wife, but by then the car had sunk so deep into the muddy earth that he couldn't find the strength to pull her out. That moment was totally where Old Man Banner's obsession with strength first came from. Once the media got a hold of the Hulk's identity, a lot of those write-ups loved to embellish Bruce's childhood. Don't get it twisted, Brian Banner wasn't the Devil, but he was a mean sonuvabitch. He would at least have his stepmom Rebecca in his life, once the Banners moved to New Mexico. To this day, Bruce still thinks of her fondly.
Brian himself was almost never home, instead toiling away at his gig at Desert State. See, Brian Banner was a physician with a specialty in glands. After he failed to pull his first wife out of that wreck, he became fixated on the theory of "hysterical strength." You know those stories you hear about moms being able to lift whole cars to save their babies? No scientist has ever been able to square away how and why that happens, but Old Man Banner was hellbent on being the one to crack it. When the higher-ups are Desert State shot down his research, he decided to keep going at home.
Timeline (1985 - 1991): To this day, Bruce has never said what really went down that night. As far as I know, his mind just blocked it out. I have my theories, but if I'm resorting to speculation I'm no better than one of those rag pieces. All I know for sure is what was put on the police report: The morning after a nasty storm, authorities swept through the Banner household smashed up, Rebecca beaten to death, and Bruce left in a shock in the same room as the body. A few days later, Brian was found in the middle of the desert, naked and hysterical. He was charged with murdering Rebecca and was given life.
Another misconception about Bruce is that his anger issues only came about once he went green. What he went through, that's where it all started, and you don't even have to trust me on that. His aunt and uncle would back me up, since they were the ones who took Bruce in. Back then, Bruce was unresponsive, quick to anger, and would throw a fit if he ever felt cornered or too agitated. He wasn't too responsive to treatment at first, either. What turned it all around for Bruce was his cousin, Jen. She was born a year before his aunt and uncle took him in, and even though they did their best with him, they had understandable worries about Bruce being around Jen. He says this is what first made him try to take treatment seriously. Earning that trust from his aunt and uncle. To this day, the two see each other more as siblings than cousins.
He put a lid on his anger issues, but Bruce's social skills never really picked up. His brains, though, they never seemed to stop growing. So when he got an in at the Tomorrow Academy across the country, his aunt and uncle couldn't see a downside. I have my theories Ross had his eye on Bruce all the way back then because of who his old man was, but I can't back that claim--yet. Even if I can't make a direct connection, Ross still definitely had his finger on the place. That meant having an extended stay in New York, and his kid popping in the Academy from time to time. That's how Bruce first met Betty. In spite of himself, Bruce managed to strike something up with Betty, and they kept in you well after the Academy's shutdown. Even when Bruce had any school in the world to nab his PhD, he went with NJIT so he would be closer to Betty. Neither of them could have imagined this would seal Bruce's fate.
Timeline (1991 - 1998): Betty was in Jersey because she was one of the first recruits for the newly-minted SHIELD Comm School. She wanted to keep up the family military tradition by getting into spy work, but even back then she was a sleuth at heart. Case in point, when she and Bruce got close enough he started opening up about his past, Betty couldn't just leave it be. I don't know if it was empathy to help Bruce get closure, or just a fixation on solving a mystery. Whatever it was, Betty put together an investigation on what Brian was researching before he killed Rebecca and showed it to Bruce.
In turn, a switch went off in Bruce when he poured over his old man's work in hysterical strength. Like father, like son, Bruce became obsessed with finishing his old man's work to tap into the hidden strengths that all humans have. SHIELD was either desperate, or Bruce made one heckuva pitch, because in no time at all a new Super-Solider project was in the works. The ink on Bruce's pHd wasn't even dry before a base in the desert was installed to further explore his theories.
Call it trauma, shame, fear, or even some lingering loyalty to the powers that victimized him, but Bruce has never come clean about what went down at Project Gamma. From what I personally know, their experiments went well past any ethical boundaries. A young man looking for some closer was quickly finding things spinning out of his control, that's a lot on your conscience. And that all came crashing down on that one fateful day, when an internal sabotage caused a radiation leak, then a breakout of its test subjects—helped by a big, green giant barrelling through the walls and security for them.

The post where I get on my soap box about Fable 4's style (but also on the video game industries reliance on realism)
-
Long as post below, also if you disagree know that you don't have to engage with the post, you don't have to argue or have a take on everything. Thanks, now let's move on down!
I'm remembering the recent Fable 4 trailer again and lamenting the lack of stylized art going into it. I've always hated that the video game industry, at least in the west always has to follow the same bog standard "realism" for no real reason or gain. For example looking at starfield most of the companion characters faces never change expression, so you're hanging out with someone like Sarah starfield, that's her full name, Todd coward told me so /sarcasm -
Tumblr media
and she always looks like she's got so much cologne in her she can't emote. (Apparently they don't use facial muscles which is such a bethesda thing it's funny.) I heard someone say that if they gave Starfield a stylized different style from Fallout and Elder scrolls that it could give it it's own identity and I couldn't help but agree.
This goes on to my point and franky my argument in fable's lack of style.
(This was the only image of both of the hyper realistic characters I could find in short notice)
Tumblr media
I think that Fable should of never "graduated" from it's cartoony/shaded style, the series has always been about kicking chickens and shrek esk humor, sticking to it there's a fairy in the opening, that looks pretty and cute and when she gets grabbed by the frog, her face goes from dainty, to an exaggerated expression you would expect from you know- getting attacked!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(obviously this is the first trailer and we'd get an update a couple of years later.) But it almost feels like they're embarrassed to be goofy or silly! This game- no this series would of been so better going for a Cel shaded look like many old and new games for example: The wolf among us, Hi fi Rush, No more heroes 2 and Ultimate spiderman (ps2) And they still look great despite three of these being older titles sans Hi-fi rush.
Tumblr media
Fable would look phenomenal and you can still work with great expressions, exaggerated humor, a unique art style too, something different! ( while also taking it easier on your workers ) Everything looks hyper realistic and it also takes an age to come out because every follicle of hair needs to look great, every wrinkle and hairline has to be perfect, so perfect it can flow in the wind in the same direction as the grass; and that's the problem!
Fable is a comedic medieval fantasy game, and there's no problem with looking realistic, Baldur's gate 3 looks GREAT but it also has the most issues, with characters hair disappearing, or invisible NPCS and other hilarious glitches- that's not a jab, the same game happen in the above but I feel with a stylized look it could be something set aside from the constant hyper real games we constantly keep getting, something new, something with personality and a style that could turn heads! Cringe anime game take below! vvv
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to bring this up (cause for some reason people get really mad at people even mentioning one of these for some reason) but Persona 5 looks very cel shaded and stylish, Gravity Rush too! And I can't help but wonder how amazing fable could be with such defining artistry and how much cartoony and silly and outlandish things it could get away with, with a more storybook or painterly art style.
And I can't help but see people clearly are drawn to the style of games like South of Midnight and again there's a massive fanbase of the wolf among us, to the point they're making a sequel to the tell tale game as we speak! (for the lack of a better term)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And know this doesn't come off as me saying that if the game is good that it won't matter, I just think games and media as a whole, shouldn't restrict themselves by going for one style or way of presenting themselves; especially western RPGS. This sadly extends beyond fable!
This should be a discussion that goes towards the entire video game industry, I mean look At Beyond good and Evil 1 in comparison to it's sequel in production (I think, it's been YEARS!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first obviously has a cartoony style, and this style suits the word and characters! Then its younger sibling looks expressive to a degree but I mean- we can tell why it's taking so long to come out, making indivisual worlds, and trying to apply realism to a world with animal people and future tech is a recipe for crunch!
We shouldn't have to stick to one style, just because it's become the norm in the industry, the point of the industry, should be to make video games and to experiment and try something new cause making video games IS an art!

Saw the Puss in Boots Movie.
Let's talk about Puss In Boots for a hot minute.
I was not expecting this level of story telling. Looking at the other movies that came out of the franchise, I honestly was expecting a mediocre fast paced joke after joke with a tenuous grasp on a plot.
I was so very surprised.
What a movie. The animation style was a solid choice and well done. The scenes and designs were fantastic. The story was wonderful, the black forest morphing to match the wish maker was making me scream every time it switched. Stellar.
So let me do what I do and try to be articulate enough to explain why I thought it was so amazing.
Who is the target audience for this movie?
Here's the tricky part. It's a cartoon set in the Shrek Universe. It's supposedly targetted towards young kids up to maybe early teens.
Yet it didn't feel that way.
So who is the target audeince?
The same people that saw the first Shred Movie.
You didn't have to have seen all the other movies to understand the characters or the plot. But having seen the first and second movie is key.
When did those movies first come out? Shrek was released in April of 2001. Shrek 2 was released May of 2004.
That's long enough apart for someone to start high school and just about finish high school.
That was 22 years ago!
The target audience? People in their 30s who are about to be 40.
This is a movie made by the people who sat in theaters at the age of 14 watching the first movie. People who fell in love with the fairy tale breaking movie.
The ugly ogre finds the princess, the princess kicks ass. She chooses him over the handsome prince and she changes to a form that she can feel happy in.
This is a movie for all the LGBTQ kids just finding themselves.
So now those kids are grown up. They've been faced with a hard life. Repeated traumas. Repeated world catastrophies that their parents never knew. Faced with fixing problems they didn't start. Faced with struggling to fight for their rights and riding off the tails of those that died to catch a glimpse of those rights.
Kids that grew up with generational trauma. Kids that were supposed to get married and have kids and instead of struggling to find happiness in themselves.
Live life fast and hard or hidden away and scared.
We've been seeing a lot of movies that discuss generational trauma: Coco, Encanto, Everything Everywhere all at once…
It's almost like we grew up and are trying to learn how to heal.
We are also starting to see found familiy. Learning to be happy with friends and those around us that make us feel safe and loved.
What's so special about Puss in Boots The Last Wish? There's more than one important message here.
Found family is a big role in two ways.
You have Goldie and the three bears. You see her desire to be with those like her and have a family and learn that her family has always been there loving her despite her not being like them. She's spent so long looking for what was right in front of her that she almost loses it.
Then you have Perrito who flat out says "You are my friends and I trust you. You are my family. Why would I want anything else when I have you?"
You see panic attacks and how irrational they can make you. How they take over your everything and how you view the world. Trauma and fear can lead you down a path very much like how we see in the movie.
You also have someone who has no regard for his life. He wastes 8 lives without care. Drinking, Gambling, gorging in things bad for him, being cocky, being arragant. Someone alone with no friends and afraid to connect and give up the glory that he thinks he has and needs.
Then he switches to someone too scared to live his life. Settling for mediocraty and such unhappiness because they think it's the safe path.
A good lesson. Cherish your life. Live it well because you only get one life.
But let's remember who this movie is made for. 30-40 year olds.
We have already lived most of our lives. Living the way we were told. Surviving. Trying to find ourselves. Go to school, find a career, get a job, make connections. Every step has been one task after another and we are still so unhappy and so tired.
We are a generation of people that weren't allowed to be who we were meant to be.
But we are now older. We are now adults who are about to be the next leaders to the young generations.
We can retire and be safe and slink away.
Or we can take what is left and see what we have. We can live. We can appreciate that we have this life and this life is ours.
So yeah. This was a good movie. This was a stellar movie. This was a movie that felt like an amazing end to a story that started when we were just learning how to be adults.
Now we are adults and it's time to learn how to live.
Someone once said it: We see him react to death in two days.
The first time he is terrified and doesn't want to die. The second time he is determined and not ready to die.
Death tells him to "Fight for it. Fight for the life you have."

I'm the Tangld ask, lol. thanks for the reply! i never minded the film but it does have the most "Wattpad" feel of all the disney movies, if that makes sense? and again, the weird age gap Rapunzel has with Flyn..I'm surprised more Karens didn't complain about that.
Yeah, I felt the exact same way. It was the first Disney film that didn't feel like an actual movie and felt like I was reading fan fiction- Rapunzel's "I do love snuggly ducklings!" felt like a Pinterest quote/a Tumblr gif set, Flynn's backstory felt very fanfic.net, and Mother Gothel felt like a meme from Shrek 2 lol I honestly think it might be one of the worst Disney movies to me? Or, creatively bankrupt at least. It was also the first that didn't feel like a universe. Us 90s kids were SPOILED. Atlantica, the Beast's Enchanted Castle, Agrabah?? In comparison, Tangled's world felt like one of those cold Disney store remodels from the early 2010s and was totally interchangeable with the movies we saw moving forward, both in feel and aesthetic, like Frozen

This is how films work for me:
My favourite film of all time is Shrek 2. It’s absolutely perfect from start to finish, so witty and humorous, the pacing is immaculate and the soundtrack is THE best in any film I have seen. It has aged like fine wine! Like the fairy godmother singing “I need a hero” and Shrek is going back to Fiona to save their love is one of the best climaxes to a film I have ever and possibly will ever see in my life! It does not compare whatsoever!
The most beautifully directed and well written film is and will always be A Silent Voice. Naoko Yamada has such an incredible vision on how to portray human emotions and thoughts through the visual medium, it’s incredible. And the theme on redemption and accepting oneself will always be so powerful. This film made me fall in love with writing stories and analysing them. Same can be said for Liz and the Blue Bird, another film of Yamada’s.
The most unique film is Portrait of a Lady on Fire. The directing is phenomenal, how it uses barely any soundtrack to create ambience and isolation, the frame work of the shots to evoke emotion and tension is impeccable, and the writing for the sapphic storyline is just so grounded and perfect. Every aspect of this film is just absolutely perfect.
But the best and most ambitious film I have seen is Everything Everywhere All At Once. The dedication from everyone involved in this film is incredible. From the writing to the directing, costume design, editing, acting and just every single aspect is absolutely perfect. And the message of the film and how it delivers its theme about the meaning of life just hits me every single time.

Western Animated Movie Sequel Timeline
For reference... On how few theatrical animated movie sequels were made in the West vs. how many have been made since the early 2000s... (Streaming titles like THE SEA BEAST 2 will be included, because these are big budget enough to have been theatrical releases.)
Titles highlighted in blue have commas in them, this denotes that you're not looking at two separate titles. (Just in case you happen to not know-)
I also won't include reboots. For example: The upcoming Paramount Animation film TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: MUTANT MAYHEM, which despite being a TMNT movie, it has no other relation to the Imagi Studios 2007 TMNT movie. The same goes for the two SMURFS reboots, 2017's THE LOST VILLAGE and Paramount's untitled upcoming musical.
I'll also leave out animated movies that are part of franchises that are largely live-action, like STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.
1972: SNOOPY, COME HOME
1974: THE NINE LIVES OF FRITZ THE CAT

☆ ALICIA’S MONTHLY MEDIA MENTIONS: JANUARY `23
Hi. School projects have eaten up all my time and I haven't posted on this account. Also, the beautiful women who have recently followed me have been blowing up my notifications and it's been quite annoying. On the bright side, I have a lot of art to post! Here is all the media I consumed in January!
Visual:
Frances Ha (2012) dir. Noah Baumbach. It tells a beautiful narrative of coming of age in your twenties.
Billie and Jean. Another chill, kinda dumb podcast but it's something fun to play in the background. Gives some good laughs.
Titanic (1997) dir. James Cameron. Needed something after watching Avatar TWoW.
Mileage (2022) created by Jennifer Wu (PM) Kym Santiana (PM) Ruyee Lu (PM) Christopher Hsueh Joy Zhou Miranda Li Nicole Taylor-Topacio Ruby Saysanasy Saul Benavides. My friend made a really awesome short film for her 3rd year! Please check it out. The music suits it so well and the story is very exciting!
Cruella (2021) dir. Craig Gillespie. I wasn't going to watch this but Josiah mentioned the same person directed I, Tonya (2017) which I thought was great. I watched with a dog that I was dogsitting.
Goodfellas (1990) dir. Martin Scorsese. A pretty good story. I think the acting in it was great as well. The slurs threw me SO off guard.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) dir. Joel Crawford. I'm so excited for Shrek 5. This was great. Love how Spiderverse is bringing about a new age of animation.
The White Lotus, Season 1 (2021). I'm only watching this for Jennifer Coolidge.
Emergency Intercom - Enya Umanzor, Drew Phillips, Ky Newman. It's an every-month thing.
TXT Live at Lollapalooza 2022 (Full Performance) - Tomorrow x Together. Just very upset that they announced tour dates and Toronto wasn't on there.
Fall (2022) dir. Scott Mann. Why would they do that?
The Menu (2022) dir. Mark Mylod. Nice.
Audio: January 2023 Spotify Playlist
Space 1.8 - Nana Sinephro. Love this album SO MUCH.
Animation Happy Hour - Garrett Lewis, Katie Low, Ben Girmann. I'm excited to have found this podcast! I feel like it'll be a good resource in helping me with my future endeavours.
The Whole of the Moon (Fiona Apple cover) - Fiona Apple. Mother. Inspiration.
ATTENTION: MILEY LIVE - I'm so happy for Miley's success and I'm very sorry I was part of the crowd that shunned her post-Disney era. She's an amazing artist and I could listen to her sing rock songs all day.
Time is Way Weirder Than You Think - The Ezra Klein Show. A podcast episode we listened to for class. Confusing and it raised more questions.
Ditto - New Jeans. The girls have done it again.
Don’t Forget My Love - Acoustic - Diplo, Miguel. Fuck the original. This is it.
VIBE (feat. Jimin of BTS) - TAEYANG. Taeyang is so funny. Whenever I think of him I think of that video where he sings thank you and I love you for 2 mins.
Reading:
Howl's Moving Castle - Diana Wynne Jones. After watching the Ghibli film, I wanted MORE.
Sketching for Animation - Peter Parr. A book I have downloaded and have seen the first few pages of. I have yet to really get into it but it also seems like a great resource to improve my art.
Gesture Drawing for Animation - Walt Stanchfield
What They Don't Teach You at Film School: 161 Strategies For Making Your Own Movies No Matter What - Camille Landau, Tiara White

Eight favourite films!
As tagged by @onigiri-dorkk, let me begin this amazing challenge! I'm only 28, and sadly I fall asleep with almost every movie I see, so my favourite movies are the ones that: 1) Keep me on edge, 2) Aren't too long, 3) Animation, because I believe those are the true evolved masterpieces from Cinema (and often musicals too).
I also tend to forget films a lot, so maybe here I feature some of the films that I have lastly seen and loved!
When I watch films, I tend to focus on the narrative (not the plot so much, but how it's done), the graphics (I... don't like... SFX...) and the portrayal of themes or leitmotivs throughout.
In no particular order, here we go!
HERCULES: This is SUCH AN UNDERRATED classic. The heroes story goes from point A to point B in a flowing script, full of jabs and references to the modern viewer ("somebody please call IX-I-I!" "Would you like a Solex?"). Graphically, the redundance of the clouds in all human forms (the biceps of Hercules, the hair of Megara, Hades' chin...) offers just an aesthetic, cohesive landscape. And don't let me started on the music... I can't believe how this movie flopped so bad with such MASTERPIECES! There is no one miss, not one.
Tumblr media
TANGLED: Oh, my god, talk about underrated masterpieces again. Tangled features what I like the most about animation films: magic feelings (the bit with the lanters? Beautiful), great animation (Mother knows best! And the I have a dream sequence. Also when the water comes through!). And it features one of the least toxic relationships I have seen, with two characters struggling to be themselves and feeling guilt all over. An amazing masterpiece.
Tumblr media
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (I would say HSM 3 would be my favourite, but they are all). In an age where the good ones where the blondes, it was so refreshing to see Gabriella Montez, a brainy student... a brainy, HISPANIC, DAUGTHER OF A SINGLE MOTHER STUDENT completely smash everyone! HSM is such an underrated films because it features what I liked about this tad of Disney first: it was inclusive naturally, without trying to force them into pieces. It spoke about toxic masculinity (Troy gets laughed at for "wearing leotards"), about toxic parents (Sharpay and Ryan), about jealousy between siblings but utter love, about the toxic separation of gangs in High School. And—AND! It has amazing music. What I like about HSM3 the most is that they completely acknowledged that they had the cast and the talent to do an incredible musical.
Tumblr media
500 days of Summer: Ah....The love... The pain... Let me start by saying that I love films you can see over and over and get little things and pieces and new information. It's been a while since I haven't seen it, but I remember thinking that the character of Summer was "the bad one" when I was a teenager, only to find out years later that the boy was kinda scary and what Summer felt, completely valid. I'll be rewatching soon. The scene of the bench just broke me.
Tumblr media
Koe No Katachi (A Silent Voice): I CAN'T SAY THIS ENOUGH, WATCH THIS. I cried for 30 minutes after the credits roll. I love the stories about bullying, about redeeming yourself of your past, about difference and friendship. This story is heart-wrenching with such good animation and lighting (no need to show a bunch of landscapes). It's so deep and profound but without the need to metaphor lots of things, and the resolution is just as real, just as how life normally is.
Tumblr media
SHREK: ...An instant classic. 1 and 2. The Puss in the Boots dubbed by Antonio Banderas is undoubtedly one of the best additions to the cast. I love how as an adult you can get all the jokes (my my, Shrek is full of sexual jokes) and all the stereotypes and toxicity that they are trying to subvert. Because Shrek is this: SUBVERSION at its best. It never, ever gets old.
Tumblr media
INCEPTION / SHUTTER ISLAND: I watched them at the same time, almost, and those two films blew my mind in terms of narrative, plot twists and tension. I think they are incredibly useful to see the pace, but I also think that Inception opened a new whole genre of films that obliterated the normal sci-fi of the time (quickly forgotten to send half of the next films to space... such a shame). All the interpretations are amazing, and the fact that it has an open ending... THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Tumblr media
HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE: Ultimate comfort film. I like all the franchise but I do think that GOF is above the others. It's not the best adapted book to film but let's remember that I think it's the longest book, so to adapt that in 2 hours and a half and make it for kids to understand, while it's incredibly dark for children... We have so many iconic things: the dragon's egg, we have Ron and Harry getting angry and jealous, we have Viktor Klum and Hermione dating, we have the Yule Ball ("Can you dance like a hippogriff nanana ananna anna), and Cedric Diggory's death. This is incredibly difficult to put in a film in terms of pacing and adapting to kids. I love that the Harry Potter films don't use a chroma for the most part, and rely on physical goods to recreate the magical universe.
Tumblr media
SPIDERVERSE: ....What an incredible masterpiece of animation!!!!!!!!!! I could rant and rant about it. But I think this is getting too long. You will never find a film like this, no matter what they want to make you believe ("from the same studio that did...")
Tumblr media
And that's it, folks! Also, special mention to: Hookwinked! It was one of my favourite films as a child and it's a masterpiece about POVs, narrative and script too.

For the Weird Artist Ask Game; 4, 29, and 30?
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
Oh, there are quite a phew ! Of course, even if I CAN draw realistically if I focus hard enough it is still had so whenever I have favorite characters moreso if they are part of my OTPs but are drawn realistically, like Skeleton Warriors characters, I tend to give up midway and just draw semirealistically instead mixed with my own style and because I am quite perfectionist loving to draw fanart in the media's style instead of mine it upsets me therefore I unfortunately rarely draw about it lol. Also architecture designing, I would love to be able to make up sick looking houses or castles but my mind is limited in that field and I don't want to plagiarize anyone so in the end I just draw super cliché ones or basic shapes and it annoys me greatly
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
Basically most of my favorite movies. The Lion King (even if I used to draw a lot as a tween !), Bambi, Roger Rabbit, How to Train Your Dragon, Frozen, Emperor's New Groove, Shrek, Shrek 2, Kung Fu Panda, Kung Fu Panda 2, Princes et Princesses, Ice Age, Ice Age 3, Corpse Bride, Brave and so on and so on I have a lot... all gorgeous or hilarious or both, but I have 0 inspiration and don't feel like it, being just a viewer for them instead of an artist or writer makes me content
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated
Usually anything related to my own original art, characters and stories. Sometimes when I am lucky they do attract, notably during October challenges thanks to the tags, but usually (and I can't blame because I do the same) people go with more familiar themes such as fanart. In a way I am bit disappointed, and in another way I am also aware it's normal and am glad the right people get to enjoy them anyway. Aaand my paranoid ass is at least relieved it loweesrs chances of plagiarism

Hi em :)
So my one idea for a chapter that you saw on Twitter about the beat they might have had so that's why h wore that same damn suit most shows lol
Also, the last show of the jobros just happened and they performed a song they haven't done in ages "please be mine" and 1) I died 2) the lyrics reminded me to tayley when wasn't tayley but t might be struggling with his feelings when h was in that dark path with Shrek xd idk I was reading them and I was everything sounds like tayley to me lol but especially them between 2014-2018 so idk just another idea that came to mind because I can't take that performance out of my head since never thought I'd see the day where they'd perform that song again u.u <3
Oh also julien talking about paramore being top on her Spotify wrapped and I wish we could have had a tour with them since julien was supposed to support in the band during the pfa tour that never happened and they have a great friendship like same with phoebe and I remember their live back from quarantine and all I could think watching again was whee the hell was t hiding? Lmao same with the podcasts she did with Maya from big bang and Anna Faris...
Hey, wow that's a lot of ideas but thanks, it's always welcome, so I'll add them to my list of prompts.
I'd forgotten about that, but you are right the thing about the suits is a good plot for the prompts, it'd be very funny if it was in fact a bet 🤣, I'll check out that song you mentioned, I love when I get Tayley coded songs, that's my fav thing in the world, and ughh you are rtight Julien should've made an apperance on once of this chapters, I know she was in one wayyyyy back but Just saw a photo from Becca Maccari and apparently they used to go on walks with H and Julien during the pandemic, plus i'm kinda a little bit in love with Julien heeehe😍, and yeah, where was T hiding?!!!!
Much love x
