my most comfort one is actually a food manga too, suito-to! it's really nice <33 it's about momose, a college girl who pretends to like sweet foods but actually prefers rich fatty ones, and yuzu, a younger student who knows a lot about the local restaurants and they go out to eat together <33 it's set in fukuoka and all the places they go to are real too! + their relationship progresses really nicely, and indeed momose's preferences work rly well as a metaphor for homosexuality too. small warning, there is a bit of weight talk but it doesn't get very far

another one i really enjoyed is still not normal today, which follows the relationship between two girls from highschool to adulthood, and just shows a really nice queerplatonic relationship. i really enjoyed it, it was very sweet

for a sillier one, there's also comprehensive tovarisch which is my fav academic rivals one. about kanna, who's always at the top of her class, but gets beaten by yuu, who doesn't actually care about grades at all. it's really funny!!! kanna is such a failgirl and their friend group (and just the entire supporting cast) is So great i had a lot of fun with everyone

last but very much not least the two sides of seiyuu radio is a Huge fav of all time, and it's getting an anime next year! about two high school girls who are idol voice actresses, a gloomy girl and a gyaru that quite hate each other and who are put in a radio program together. it's. so good. treats a lot of problems in the voice acting industry + this intersection where voice actors must also know how to sing, dance and entertain like idols do. it's so good and really fun, huge huge fav. if suito-to is the comfort one then this is my fav in general i think

okay this isnt gonna be long or comprehensive at all cuz i have yet to read and reread and rereread some of their stuff BUT....

their main conflict is their secret, which has something to do with their identity (mizuki being transfemme, himeru,.... man its just id fraud)

and despite the fear of their secret being found out, they still hang out with their respective groups anyway. something something wanting to connect without having connections (ALTHOUGH mizuki is better off at that front)

^^ the parallels between the ending of mizuki's fs story and ariadne still fuck me up btw... mizuki returning to the "real world" even tho the fragment sekai gives them a world where they can love what they love and be themselves without being judged because niigo is there for them / himeru, who is trying to keep up this perfect flawless image for kaname while also initially trying to disconnnect from crazy:b really went "let me get along with them for a little longer" / "where 'i' can be 'myself'" DO YOU FUCKING SEE IT

their sibling being a major motivation in who they are today, be it for better (mizuki and their older sister) or worse (himeru and kaname)

ok so iremember going to disney world when i was about 6, and i think it was on the 2-3rd day we were there we went to magic kingdom and while we were there we saw princess tiana and naveen. now i dont remember exactly why my brain brought this up but what i did was that i asked "prince naveen" to his face why he got cut off from his parents money and to this day i have never seen anyone look so confused (the funny thing is now that i think about im pretty sure they explained it in the movie?)

Literally!!! Oh my god literally please understand how hard I'm holding back writing this in all caps. I really wish I'd saved the post where I first saw that theory because it made me lose my MIND. I'm already really impressed at the range of love-based bloodline magic we see in the manga, and the fact that zeze is such a prominent male character intrigues me so greatly re: azz! (Diversity win: your manga also gives male characters sexy no jutsus!)

I personally don't think the asmodeus line are actually straight-up succubi-- for one, there's already raim, and two, the latest chapter has amaryllis using a really interesting kind of illusion ("her favor," huh? I'm reminded of lilith!). Being a clan about "virtue and destruction," I have to wonder if their bloodline magic is about letting passion rule you, for better or worse (I'm looking at azz's wicked phase here, plus his fucking. Safeword.) Something about giving someone enough rope to hang themself with. How would that dovetail with zeze's ability?? No idea! But GOD does it compel me
