when i'm really anxious/sad an exercise i do to stop focusing on it so much is that i make up a scenario where i'm getting a djinn wish and i'm trying to be as specific as possible so i don't get fucked over
though i just encountered an issue where i could potentially wish that the djinn has a better, less maliciously literal interpretation of what the wish maker is asking for and that then kinda puts a hole in the aforementioned thought exercise

I wonder why ppl interpret sonic not jumping at the chance to kill an enemy as him giving "second chances" to bad guys who don't deserve it like eggman
#ramblings#yes that includes writers who worked on actual sonic media#like ian flynn. i like his work but this is one thing that keeps bugging me abt the way he writes sonic in the comics#i'm glad it doesn't seem to be transferring to the games he's working on#since he's working even more directly with sega now#like idk maybe the literal teenager just doesn't wanna kill ppl even if they do horrible things#also it's fiction with an audience of mostly children like. you can't expect it to go that far#and yeah he has Technically killed someone before with erazor djinn#but he's immortal so like. he's technically not dead maybe. just can't hurt anyone anymore#like i don't think he'd care if someone like eggman died in on of their battles#but he's not going out of his way to murder him#and it's not like he's just letting him go most of the time either. eggman is just good at making a getaway#sonic isn't judge jury and executioner. i doubt he thinks it's his place to kill someone as punishment for their crimes#he'd rather let nature do it. or let them die from their own hubris#but him not going out of his way to kill his enemies doesn't mean he's giving them a second chance#and expecting them to turn over a new leaf then being shocked when they don't every single time#he knows better than that#i don't think it's that complicated#like 'not wanting to kill ppl as a literal kid' and 'not forgiving ppl for horrible crimes' are two ideas that can coexist i think#him not wanting to kill doesn't need to be justified as him giving second chances or whatever

Someone said that Marwa being the last wife left could be a part of the djinn's Monkey's paw punishment kind of deal and now I can't stop thinking about the implications that gives to the Marwa x djinn ship
Like he didn't intend for her to actually be interesting to him or for him to find her as cute as she is, he brought her here to be the ultimate lesson for Nandor and instead she's spending all of her time stuck in the house with him from the wishes he grants and he finds out pretty quickly that he doesn't really mind that much. The crew leave almost every night on some new crazy hair brained adventure leaving them the only two beings in the house that aren't a ghost possessing a doll and Marwa is so desparate for any kind of connection that she just gravitates towards the djinn and he can't leave the house unless his lamp leaves the house so it's not like he'll be able to avoid her forever. At first it was just the two of them sitting in the same room reading together, but then Marwa would start excitedly repeating the things she's reading almost without realizing she was speaking outloud until she says something from an old book that's out of date and the djinn on reflex corrects her and the two of them to look up at each other and make surprised eye contact for a moment before something in Marwa's eyes light up and she's launching into the million questions that have been swimming through her brain since the day she woke up hundreds of years in the future and the djinn gets surprised by the fact that her questions are actually really thought out long winded theories about scientifc discoveries and phillosophy and the implications of certain historical events on the current present world she's currently in and when she gets a distant whimsical look in her eye as she asks about historical monuments and cities, sights, and natural wonders that are just out of her reach on the other side of the house door that Nandor's wish that the djinn used his magic to keep her from, he feels guilty for the first time in his life and in a second he has a giant picture book filled with all the beautiful things Marwa wants to see conjured in his hands without anyone even uttering the words "i wish" and that's the first time his magic has ever been able to work without those magic words, but he stops thinking about those implications the second he sees the way her entire face lights up from her giant smile and she's taking the book from his hands and sitting crosslegged on the floor with it opened to a random page like an excited child beaming at the pictures she's flipping through so fast she can hardly take in everything about them and as he just sits and watches her he can't help but think about how she might be the best wish he ever granted unforseen consequences and all and suddenly it hits him how many wishes he's already granted to Nandor that changes things about her whether physically or mentally or personality wise and something about that doesn't sit right with the djinn in a way he can't explain, but he reasons he picked Marwa specifically to punish Nandor and so there's no way he's going to let anymore wishes change her, no way no siree she was here to be his unforseen Monkey's paw consequence there's no way he's letting Nandor change how much she loves science and history and there's no way he'll let Nandor change the way her eyes light up at the thought of traveling, nope she's supposed to be there to teach that man a lesson and she can't do that if he changes everything about her and that's the only reason he'll find ways to skirt around wishes like that, absolutely the only reason

the reason the djinn didn't try and trick nandor when he was resurrecting his wives unlike when he did with the penis wish is because he uses the wishes to teach people lessons (about greed, desires, etc) and resurrecting nandors wives is already a lesson because the djinn knows that nandor won't be happy in his relationship. he is looking for the idea of a perfect wife that doesn't actually exist as the traits he wants her to have contradict each other (the wife he really loved having dark hair but using wishes to change it, him not wanting someone who is smarter than him while marwa is obviously very smart etc) and he also chose her purely on process of elimination not by getting to know her. he is looking for a wife he had 750 years ago and while his wives have been locked in time and are unchanged since when he left them (as they seem to be all resurrected at a time soon after he left) while he has most likely changed a lot over 750 years and what he wants has changed but he is denying himself this and not facing the truth (his true soulmate is a man called guillermo).

You know what I think would make an interesting episode in season two?
A episode where they have to confront the temptation of their “perfect life”
(Similar to the Supernatural episode: What Is And What Should Never Be where Djinn make you believe your greatest dream comes true)
Or more specifically, their assumed “perfect life”
Like Angel Dust and Husker would obviously want their souls back but what else could someone assume that they’d want?
For Husker to want to go back to the life of Overlord? Instead of everyone being at the hotel, they’re all at his casino? Charlie is in management, Vaggie is security, Niffty is a maid, Sir Pentious fixes things when they break. (Alastor probably wouldn’t be a part of the equation lol it’d be like the deal never took place). Angel is the top performer, helps swindle the guests out of more money, willingly acts as arm candy for Husk when he needs?
For Angel would it be assumed that he wants revenge on Valentino? Would he over throw him, take over the studio? Or would he start his own gang, maybe with Valentino’s other freed workers - we saw a glimpse of his brother, if he had a successful gang in hell would he “gain” the respect of his brother and father like he never had in life? Maybe he works with Husk to have a safe spot for him and his crew carved out in his casino which maybe houses the others like above?
If, for some reason he was back in hell, visiting maybe, Sir Pentious would probably get the experience of being an overlord, the others work with his eggs as members in his crew, he gets his chance with Cherri Bomb.
Cherri Bomb might run the drug trade or a really competent gang of thrives, has the black market under her thumb. Angel’s her right hand man. We haven’t see much of her interactions with the others (except for Sir Pentious - “RIP”) so I don’t know how they’d fit in. Sir Pentious wouldn’t be “dead” they’d get a chance to explore whatever was going on with them.
We don’t know a ton about Niffty other than some strong characteristics so maybe hers is something more similar to reality than the others. They’re all together she cleans after everyone, has someone who indulges her desires. She gets to kill more than she usually does and then cleans up after?
Charlie and Vaggie’s would be very similar if not the same. The hotel worked! Everyone’s redeemed, they’re all together in Heaven, the exterminations have been ended, everyone’s at peace. Charlie has her family back together, Vaggie maybe never fell but still somehow is connected to Charlie?
Alastor obviously would no longer be on his leash. He’s the most powerful overlord, maybe some of the others are also overlords, in an alliance with him, maybe in his perfect reality he has no connection to them at all, he’s all powerful and has his connections with Rosie and Mimzy (+ whoever else we’ll meet in the future that’s connected to him) and that’s enough. He doesn’t need the other hotel members, he doesn’t want them, he doesn’t want to be altruistic, after all.
Some of them are at a point where I think they’d feel empty without the others, ruining the “perfect” life if they’re not there- though some might be able to settle in without the others
At some point all, most, or some of them start to realize that it’s all a fantasy and have to both rip themselves away and then confront themselves on why they were given that as their “perfect life”
Idk, just think it could be interesting
I know there probably won’t be a episode like that but I think it would be a fun dive into their characters, the assumptions people have of them, and the contrasts of what they truly desire
Even though it’s not likely to be an episode, it’d still make a great fanfic
Might write it 🤔 would have to iron out the maybes lol

I have absolutely zero evidence to back this up, but I just thought it'd be an interesting idea. What if. Hear me out. Maybe the reason Jay seems physically incapable of dying ever is because his birth-mother made some kind of deal or spell or wish or something for her son to live a long life, unaware of the fact that by giving him a 'long life' she'd be making him functionally immortal. Maybe he was sick as a baby, and she did this as an act of desperation. Maybe the act of giving him this extended life is what led to her disappearing (either as a sacrifice, or due to her being duped into 'wishing it all away' by whichever djinn she'd summoned), and then Cliff gave up the baby because he didn't want to raise a child by himself.
There is absolutely no canon precedent for this but idk I just think it'd be an especially tragic thing for Jay to learn and deal with.

Ooooo here we go
————
My main MC is an omega girlie. She has long white hair that has prematurely greyed. She’s on the shorter side with a petite figure and (for now) dim light blue eyes that have since lost hope. Getting abandoned by her original pack already left a gigantic mental scar and then being imprisoned by the djinns snuffed out any spark of life left.
In her years of captivity she lost any will to fight and since was treated almost as a pet since she never tried fighting back or escaping. Her giant white wolf reduced to nothing more than a cowering pup. She’d spend her nights staring off into the darkness sometimes wishing for nothing more than a quick death.
When getting rescued by Bela and the others she felt maybe a spark of hope before the voice in her head snuffed it out. “They don’t want you”, “You’ll be abandoned again”, “Who on earth would want a stray?”, “Keep your head down and be a good pet and maybe this time you won’t get left behind”.
These thoughts float in her head as she’s taken back to the pack house. Since she was petted by the djinns whenever they felt like it her body freezes up on command whenever anyone pets her even if it’s another wolf. Though the wolves touch provides more comfort her body just won’t allow itself to relax under their touch.
She finds herself alone in her makeshift room at the pack house all the time. Sometimes just resting but other times being plagued by negative thoughts. A small part of her finds just a bit of comfort with Bela’s presence. She tries keeping absolutely silent whenever Bela is in the room because she’s afraid if she makes any noise she’ll be found annoying and thus kicked out.
Over time she sees that this pack is nothing like her old one. They care for each other and work together. Even though Rainn was slightly hostile MC feels no anger and ultimately understands why. “Who would want a pathetic stray like me near their pack?” This thought unfortunately surfaces in her head, though.
The pups were the biggest surprise to my MC. She was absolutely terrified to be alone with them. “One wrong move and it’s over.” She remained still but lost the fight to the instinct to nudge a pup with her snout. For the first time in a while she her tense body relax a bit. Until a pup accidentally put pressure on her bad leg. She yelped in surprise/pain and then that summoned Bela to the room. She felt terrified she’d be kicked out for even being near the pups. But Bela apologized to her. She felt relief that she won’t be kicked out but also slightly worried for the pups for their upcoming scolding.
The next biggest surprise was Rainn apologizing to her. She felt immense confusion. But then when Rainn brought her food? If she was in her human form she’d be a sobbing blubbering mess. Honestly idk if she’d eat the cupcakes (I think that’s what they were?) or just keep them and look at them.
MC felt more calm after that but still was surprised when Kesha visited. She felt conflicted when she realized what Kesha was offering. But… She felt something spark in her. Just a little. She scooted over to allow Kesha in her blanket nest. She surprised herself by actually falling asleep rather quickly after.
————
That’s all I got for now. I think ultimately Bela will be my MC’s canon romance. I rlly like Bela 😩. I’m patiently waiting for the shifting reveal so they see my huge omega MC turn into this short traumatized girl. And she’s not even near as old as her greying hair points to.
I feel like after she feels more comfortable in the pack and is able to shift she’ll become like Kesha and seek physical affection. Future MC’s favorite being sitting on Bela’s lap while they do paperwork or smth or just relax.
She’d be big on being cuddle buddies with Kesha.
I gotta wait till we meet Indigo to form a dynamic.
Even after becoming a part of the pack my MC would still have invisible restraints. Like in the future one day she hears someone like another wolf tell the pups to sit down for lunch or smth completely innocent she’ll immediately sit whether in her wolf or human form. She’ll just sorta look at herself in shock and then slowly get up and hide somewhere for a while curled into a ball.
Okay imma end it here since I feel like I rambled too much
Your omega pup is a cutie and she deserves all the cuddles and love. I think many are excited for the first ever shifting and I am too!

Out of curiosity, and you don't have to answer if you don't want to.
how would jay (from your fic) react to seeing or hearing about Arrakore?
SORRY FOR TAKING SO LONG TO ANSWER I needed to figure out how it would happen (idk if this is complete or not but it should be)
anyway bbnb!jay meeting Arrakore!
oh he would FREAK OUT
Like, real and heavy panic attacks that make me absolutely tense every time I write them
He would not feel safe every time he's around Arrakore, and panic alone in a room as soon as he can or something I think.
because Nadakhan kept lying to him about how djinns really were (for intimidation purposes mainly, but also because he was pursuing his own sort of ideal that lead to him getting banished from his homeworld (I'll explain all that in another fic that's taking me a while to write dw about it for now)), Jay is going to think Arrakore has to be lying all the time, or at the very least playing with them
He might even think Arrakore might be planning revenge for his people, like Nadakhan had, or is at the very least working with him or something
First scenario. First meeting might be Jay freaking out with his powers going insane, and him actually loosing control for the first time in a while. This might lead to Arrakore trying to help him control his powers, only for everything to get worse.
Or, second scenario, Jay might attack on purpose, trying to get rid of someone he knows is an enemy. There's no way that djinn would be on their side, and his friends trust him cuz they don't remember. That's it. Nya? She trusts the guy, but she can be wrong, and that's okay. He'll do the dirty work for her
3rd scenario would be Jay not attacking, after being told by the others not to, but being tense, not letting him out of his sight for even a second. Or trying to avoid him.
If it's during his amnesia, I'm considering the first or third being more of what could happen. I do like the idea of him not knowing why he's so scared, why he's so terrified of someone he's never known
Maybe even have Nadakhan's face replacing the Arrakore's every now and then, and him not really knowing what to do
I have multiple ideas mainly because I'm not done with my fic, and I have not decided on what the resolution of his emotions or powers is going to be. I mean, I have something I consider a vague idea, but based on how I handle it, Jay is going to have more or less control of himself whenever things like those are going to happen to him
Also, depending on whether Arrakore knows it's because of Nadakhan or not, his actions are going to be very much different as well
Cuz he knows how much of a twisted bastard the banished prince was, and he knows he must've done something terrible if Jay panics whenever he sees him like that
The worst in this, is that I see Arrakore being a kind and good soul, always trying to help out the lightning ninja
only for it to ultimately fail
But yeah! Overall, Jay would be terrified, and not trusting of Arrakore. He'd even try to get rid of him at all cost, and if he understands that his friends trust that guy, then he might try to do that behind their backs. I am one to believe Jay would be ruthless when it comes to a situation that is serious, especially if it's to protect his friends
An even twisted way for things to happen, would Jay taking sorta revenge about Nadakhan on Arrakore. How? Plenty of ideas there, idk if you guys want me to elaborate cuz this is already VERY long (and I'm sorry about that MJKERRLGK I digress easily help)
(Of course this would be resolved but it would take TIME. so so much TIME. And I am one to take time and write a lot when it comes to comfort and all so yea.)
thank you for the ask!! and I hope this answered properly
see you around!

! Major The Witcher books finale spoiler !
(Maybe everyone knows this but I just wanna be safe)
I've been thinking how strange it must be for Anya to have shot The Last Wish with Henry and then shoot The Rivian Pogrom with Liam.
Of course the change is gonna be hard for every cast member, but especially for Anya, Freya, and Joey. Their characters have the most number of scenes with Geralt since s1. It's going to be a huge adjustment for them, but I believe they are professionals and they can act just as well as before. What I'm talking about in this post is more about the emotional side of the tragic scene in Rivia and who does interact with whom.
Dandelion/Jaskier is in the crowd in the final scene. He wasn't involved in the scene of Geralt's death as an active participant like Yennefer and Ciri were, but he still was there. A bystander who can only watch his friend dying while Geralt's daughter and wife are all over his dying body.
Ciri is the accuser. Ciri was the one losing her father figure and yelling at her mother for not being able to save him. So Freya's job in the scene is the emotional involvement with Anya mostly. She is watching Geralt dying, but she thinks she can't do anything as long as there's Yennefer who is willing to do all the job.
Yennefer is the desperate savior. Finally, Yennefer is the only person in there who's doing something. She dies/loses consciousness trying to save her lover, the person she met over 20 years ago. It is a long way and they have a long history and it all leads to that moment. Her lying dead next to dead Geralt. The one who saved her from the djinn by binding their lives. Anya is basically the one in that scene who interacts with Geralt the most and it must be wild to act like losing a person who has a different face from the one she met in the beginning.
Idk what this post is about. I just couldn't stop thinking about Anya and Liam in the end, lying there in the mud. It just feels weird to have Yennefer almost die for the face that's not the one she met all those years ago. I know it's only a face and it's still Geralt. I just feel like this is so wrong.

Ya know those dreams where there is so much plot happening and you can barely keep up and when you wake up you can only remember like 1 thing?
Last night I dreamt that I was in an arranged marriage (idk who arranged it cause I'm an adult and don't speak to my parents) but I get married and like a month into the marriage, we're climbing something and he gets knocked out and like his gamer stats appeared above him and I found out he was 3'3, which is weird cause he was taller than me (he was like 5'8, I'm 5'2) and he was really mad about the fact that I knew for the rest of the dream. he was really nice tho and wasn't mad at me, he was just mad that I knew
BRO I LOVE SLEEPING SM BECAUSE THE WAY MY MIND MAKES DREAMS SPONTANEOUSLY- I COULD NEVER😭😭😭
I remember having this vivid, jarring dream where I was home alone, and some dude came up to my door and was like "I like you and I wanna get married to u. Let's go out?" And he takes me on a car ride and throughout the ride I roasted tf outta this guy cause he was OLD (I'm talking 60s) and he had white hair and a white beard but he was like handsome and fit and athletic build and tall, etc. And even though I kept insulting him and telling him all the reasons why we're incompatible, this dude just smiled softly and had goo goo eyes for me and then we returned to my home and as I got in, he said he was now even more sure that he wants to marry me, and I was like "even if I agreed, which I don't, my parents would never-" and then my uncles and parents come home and they're like yelling at this guy to fuck off and they're like pushing him out of the house but then this old dude gets REALLY MAD and starts fucking screaming and his eyes turn completely black and he's yelling "SHE'S MINE! SHES MINE! ILL MARRY HER ALONE! MINE!" and then idk why, but he suddenly sent a cannonball of fire inside the house and my mom's losing her marbles because wtf is this otherworldly creature????? Meanwhile, this old dudes family pulls up outside our house (and it's people of all ages, from babies, children to adults) and are trying to sweet talk to my family into giving my hand in marriage to this man, but obv my family is like no, and pushes the old dude out of the house. Meanwhile, my mom is crying in the corner and I'm just whining about there being so much noise that it's disturbing my studies.
Anyways, for some reason, I poke my head outside the door to see if these people are gone, but just then someone- a teen girl (maybe 17?) From his family was leaving when she looked back at me and looked me up and down and then had this smile on her face (it wasn't necessarily creepy, but it was... it just told me she wasn't human either) and she said "oh, you're nice. I can see why he likes you." And nodded her head in approval.
And then I wake up and obviously, every bizarre thing- I gotta tell my mom about it. And poor woman, omg she is HORRIFIED as I tell this dream with glee and she's like "I'd never let you marry someone so old and creepy and scary!😭😭😭" and I'm like okay. And then she's like "who do u think the old guy was? Do u know him?" And I'm like I've never seen him before, but he didn't feel like he was human. At first, I thought he was the devil/Shaytaan. But then I saw his family, and it clicked to me that these might be a clan of jinns/djinn (it's an Islamic thing okay? Just look it up yourself) and basically I've heard stories that these supernatural creatures often fall in love with humans and then are dead set upon marrying them and even isolate them/possess them so that they can't marry anyone else and make them so crazy and unhinged that their own family doesn't wanna be near them and now the human's only source of comfort is with the jinn.
So like.... yeah🥰
And my mom was like "SNOW WHY WOULD U THINK THAT! NEVER EVER TELL ME YOUR DREAMS AGAIN!" and I think it's cause a part of her thinks that dreams have subliminal messages/ability that these might come true (cause again, we've all heard of stories that jinns can actually come in your dreams to give you some messages or what not) and I'm just giggling away while she's freaked out.
I think the only other dream of mine that freaked her out like this bad was the one where I explained in gruesome details on how I was buried alive. Like I told her that when they laid me in the grave, I could feel the wet muddy ground against my back💀💀 and she told me to stop before I could say more.

Binge watching the 2017 Ducktales atm and I've recently watched the episode that introduces Faris Djinn. I haven't seen any other episodes with him but so far he was surprisingly good representation (??) At least imo as a half brownie.
At first I was expecting him to be some other Middle Eastern/Persian stereotype but I ended up being very surprised when that didn't happen. I think it's because he embodies so much of this "fOr HoNoUr AnD mY pEoPlE" thing that is seen in stereotypes, but it's not in a way that's violent. Idk I'm bad at explaining, but basically things like honour, strong ties to family/roots/tradition, stubbornness and extra-seriousnes are often used in a stereotypical way to show a Middle Eastern/Persian character as incredibly violent and insane, veerrrrrryyy similar to a terrorist.
BUT with Djinn, it's never shown in a negative way. He marks each monster in the fake trials, his determination allows him to finish his quest and he does it all in the first place for his family. It was kinda odd but also refreshing seeing aspects of my culture I never really think about represented in a regular way instead of as OOOO TERRORISTT. Idk how to describe or explain it maybe some other fellow brownies know what I'm talking about. Please comment!!
Also, I like how it didnt really end up in an orientalist route when they decided not to give him a specific culture. Definitely feels more like ATLA than Aladin. It didn't feel like they were trying to represent a bunch of cultures as one culture but instead were like here's a character whose culture is based off these cultures.
I also just like how he has a fucking character. He has motivations and dimension.
Writing this I'm realising maybe I feel this way about him because a lot of the time we either get shit or no representation. I would love to hear what other people think of him since I'm still a little conflicted and am probably overthinking. I haven't even finished the show yet or have watched any other episodes with him, so there definitely is more to his character I have not seen yet.
Edit: have just done a wee bit of research of the 1987 version of him. Thank god they changed him
Edit numero dos: turns out I love him a lot and want to draw him as a hooman now :D

Jhin is Actually Kinda good pt. 2
Now to the Zed comic. We established that Zed lied about killing Kusho, but let's look at what the statue says. Defeated the cathal vastaya tribe huh... I assume those were the bird vastaya(Jhin referring to them) guarding the spirit trees, which gave the sap to create the shadow ichor -
Tumblr media
I mention the trees because Jhin does, we see them at least in two scenes. The time when the boys saw his work for the first time, i assume it depicts the Kinkou students turning into trees; and in the Zaun scene, for whatever reason. Maybe to signal to Akali and Shen of his intentions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another theme that gets going on is the spirit blossom festival, Jhin keeps it going on and even Yevnai mentions Jyom Pass... Something, ties the festival, shadow magic, Jhin being a chimera and Zed together. I can't make it quite out, but I know it's something huge lorewise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the end, I want to take a look at Yevnai and Althon. They both look rich, and Yevnai looks like flower on a  leash, with a horned mask collar, looking very... Artistic. And Althon looks like a djinn, using weird magic and daggers. Somehow these two may be connected to Jhin but I can only make the most deranged of guesses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you for reading this long thread!💕 I have a lot more theories, but these were the things that first stood out to me. IDK about you but I'm so ready for more tidbits about Ionian history ahhhh
