--------------
Your room was clean, having taken care of it the day before. The dirty clothes that were once scattered now are in your hamper. The trash being discarded in the bin. Dirty dishes in the sink.
A plaid blanket taking up the space instead. You would have set this up outside, but the forecast called for rain. Instead you adapted, deciding an indoor picnic would be just as good as an outdoor one. Resting on the blanket laid a woven basket you got just for the occasion. Inside was a handful of Max’s and your favorite foods.
Strawberries, paired with a fruit salad, some crackers, as well as bags of chips, some sandwiches sitting on top, and more food hidden underneath. This was both of yours day, you had a right to enjoy yourselves.
Two pillows were also set out on the blanket, plates and bowls in front of them. In the center was a tier shelf with multiple different sweets on it. From macaroons to brownies to slices of cake. Your night was busy, wanting the items to be fresh for the occasion. Nancy was over to help you with all of them. You told her after hours of baking that you could handle the cupcakes on your own as the sun had already set and it was getting late. She shook her head, telling you she was more than happy to continue helping.
Hanging from your ceiling were balloons that read ‘HAPPY ANNIVER ARY.’ Steve popped the s on accident when trying to cut the tape attaching the balloon string that held it up. It was fine though, he stated when Nancy scolded him. Saying it gave the event more ‘character.’ You chuckled at him before going back to the kitchen. Taking out the watermelon from the fridge to cut up and add to the fruit salad, telling him to hang up the fairy lights on your way out.
The two of them had stayed well into the night to help you prepare for the day. Well, Steve more like just iced the cakes while you and Nancy did the real baking. You didn’t let him be the mixer after he dropped the freshly made cake batter on the floor. However, you were still grateful to his efforts. Steve’s icing job wasn’t bad either; only two of the cupcakes looked like deformed blobs (Not that you told him that. It would have crushed his spirits.) He was pretty proud of himself, admiring the hard work he accomplished.
He was currently on his way to pick up Max from Mike’s to bring her to your house. Nancy made the boys promise to keep her busy till Steve arrived. Not wanting her to leave before everything set up. You would have spent the day at hers but… her step-dad didn’t know about the two of you. And the two of you didn’t want to risk the idea of him showing up unannounced. However, Max was more than eager to come to yours. Your parents were out of town for a couple of days, on a business trip. Not coming home till the following week. Lining up perfectly for the event to come.
You took in your surroundings. Quickly checking if Max’s gift from you was under your bed. Nodding to yourself, you peered at the red box. Moving out of your room, you went to sit on your couch. The window had its curtains pulled back. Rain being shown through. The forecast called for it to carry on into the late night.
You placed your head in your palm, resting your elbow on the arm of the couch. Keeping your eyes on the street. Waiting for Steve’s vehicle to make its way into view. Smiling to yourself as you recalled how he expressed his excitement to you when he was leaving the previous night.
—-----------
“Two years, Y/n. That’s a long time. Can’t even believe you guys made it this far.” You furrowed brows at him. He looked at you, noticing your expression.
“Not that I didn’t expect you two,” he defended quickly, “Just the fact you guys are still so young. The amount of commitment you made to each other is crazy. And all the effort you're making for this… you really care about her a lot, huh?” You nodded instantly.
“Of course, she’s my girlfriend, my best friend, my everything really,” you stated. It was his turn to scrunch up his face.
“That last part was a little cringe not gonna lie.” You nodded once more.
“Yeah, don’t tell her I said that. She’ll make a big deal out of it and haunt me for the rest of my life,” you told him, “I can already hear her mimicky whiny voice, ‘I’m YouR eVEryThinG?’” Steve chuckled.
“Who knows maybe it’ll just slip out,” he said with a shrug. You snapped your head towards him, eyes wide.
“You wouldn’t,” you threatened. He shrugged once more, earning a shove from you. Making him laugh again.
—-------------
You turned your attention back to the window in front of you as Steve’s car rolled into your driveway. Getting up you approached the front door. Pulling it open just as Max got out of the vehicle. Telling Steve something before shutting the car door, a bag in her hand and on her back. You looked at her with a smile as her eyes met yours. One broke out on her face as well, lightly jogging to your steps.
You met her halfway; embracing her in your arms. They wrapped around her waist as hers went to your shoulders. You picked her up, spinning her sound for a moment. Raindrops falling onto your skin. Contrasting the warmth you felt from Max with their cold touches. Setting her down, you looked into her eyes. Not even getting a chance to speak before she cupped your face, connecting your lips to hers. Closing your eyes, you tilted your head deepening the kiss. Her body arching into yours as you dipped her lightly. She pulled away once more staring into your eyes. Taking in the beautiful colors in them. A smile once again adorning her features, rain dampening her hair as well as her clothes.
“Happy anniversary,” you whispered to her, her smile only growing. Scanning across your face she took in the rain drops falling on your cheeks.
“I think we should get inside,” she mentioned,” I don’t want to get my gift wet.” You nodded, taking her hand in yours, turning back to the house. You caught a glimpse of Steve’s car still in your driveway. You looked back at him. He watched the two of you with a smile on his face. Max followed your line of vision. “Weirdo,” she mumbled. You gave him a wave as you made your way up the steps, Max flipping him off as well. You chuckled at her antics pulling her into the house.
Keeping her hand in yours, you pulled her to your room. Once arriving you went to take her backpack. You took it off her shoulders, moving to place it on the side of your bed as she took in the scene in front of her. You sat on your bed watching as the lights reflected in her eyes. She stood herself between your legs. Your hands went to her hips peering up at her. Max once again placed her arms on your shoulders. Tracing them gently with her fingers as she stared in awe at the set up.
“I can’t believe you did all this,” she said in a whisper. You shrugged.
“It’s the anniversary of my favorite day, of course I had to do something special.” She raised a brow at you.
“Your favorite day?” You rolled your eyes playfully.
“Well, duh,” you pulled her closer, her hands moving to the sides of your face, “I’ll never forget how nervous you were,” you chuckled in a whisper. Her face scrunched up.
“Don’t even tell me about that.”
“You were all fidgety and kept stuttering-”
“Stoooop,” she commanded, placing a hand over your mouth. You took yours to pull it off.
“And your eyes got so wide when I kissed you and you froze like a statue.” She covered her face in embarrassment, going red. You loved these moments. Seeing Max flustered was hard to come by. Laughing lightly you took in her state.
“I think I changed my mind, we’re breaking up. You’re making fun of me, on our anniversary!” she exclaimed. “Yep, red flags are visible, guess I better go-”
“Oh shut up, you dork,” you joked standing up. You went to the end of your bed, taking out the box from underneath. “At least open your gift before you leave.” You stated, moving to sit on the blanket. She followed after you, picking up her gift bag as well. You handed her the box as she sat the bag next to you.
“You first,” she stated. You scoffed, shaking your head.
“No way, you know how this goes. You always open yours first.” It was true over the past occasion, Christmas, birthdays, other anniversaries, ect, she was always the one to fold first when it came to these petty arguments. She pondered the thought for a moment. “It’s the least you can do for me. After all, I put all of this together for you. You can take another gift from me, can't you?” Sighing she took the box and placed it in her lap as you smiled in victory.
The box was long, about as tall as it was wide. She opened it, peering inside. Taking the wrapping off her jaw dropped. She pulled out a new board, the bottom custom painted.
“I did the bottom myself,” you mentioned in a mumbled as she took in each detail. Tracing the different lines with her finger. You bit your lip waiting for her to say something. It took you a long time to get that done. First, having to save enough money for it. As well as it took two weeks for you to paint it.
“This is so cool,” she whispered. Looking up at you she smiled. Max crawled across the blanket almost nocking off the tray of sweats the possess.
“Careful! Those took forever to make,” you informed as she tackled you into a hug. She turned to baked goods.
“You made them?” You nodded.
“With a little help from Nancy and… kinda Steve. He was really just there for emotional support. He did the icing though.”
“That’s why some look smooshed?”
“Mhm, I didn’t have the heart to tell them the flowers looked like a child’s finger paintings.” She laughed getting off of you grabbing a cupcake on her way back to sit.
“Now open yours,” she commanded, taking a bite out of the treat. You grabbed the bag. Putting the paper aside you pulled out a tiny book. Inside was multiple polaroid pictures of the two of you from the last six months. Your head snapped to her.
“This is why El had a sudden fixation with that camera and the photos?” you asked. She nodded, smiling.
“I asked her after I saw you wanting that photo Joyce took of us on Halloween.” You flipped through the pictures, taking in all the memories you went through.
“This is so sweet, Max. Thank you-”
“There’s another thing,” she stated. Your brows shot up, once again looking in the bag, seeing a little box inside. Taking it out, you opened it to reveal a necklace. The initial ‘M’ in the middle of it.
“You did not,” you tell her with the smile growing on your face. She nodded, once again moving towards you. She grabbed it from you, sitting behind you to place it on your neck.
“Now, everyone knows your mine,” she said, clasping it. You snorted.
“That was cheesy,” you stated, turning around to face her.
“At least I didn’t say ‘shEs My evEerYThiNG.’” Your jaw dropped.
“I told Steve not to tell you I said that!” you exclaimed. She shrugged.
“I’m personally glad he did, now I can bring it up anytime you tease me for saying something.” You let out a groan as she smirked. She shifted onto your lap, cupping your face in her hands. “Hey I mean, it's sweet, really. A little corny, but sweet.” You let your head fall to her shoulder. It was your turn to hide in embarrassment. Max chuckled lightly, “If it means anything, you’re my everything, too.”
Removing yourself from her neck, you scanned her face. A smile adorning her features as her eyes peered into your.
“Who’s the cheeseballs now?” She let out a laugh.
“You still, but it’s fine. I’ll settle with a cheeseball.” You raised a brow.
“Settle?” She nodded jokingly.
“Oh, yeah I got hoes lining up the block.”
“Yeah?” Your voice dropped down an octave.
“Mhm,” she humed, a hand lightly scratching your neck, while the other held your face. A smile remained on your face as a comfortable silence fell between you.
“Happy anniversary, Max,” you whispered, bringing her lips closer to yours. She smiled against them.
“Happy anniversary, Y/n.”

I’m right here (Steve Harrington) Part 1.
Summary: After being away from Hawkins for a little over seven years, you return to spend time with your brother Dustin but things happen that may change how you feel about Hawkins.
Words: 1.8k
Prompts: No
Requested: No
Warnings or A/N: This will take place from season 3 to season 4 and I decided to not end things with season 4. I’m still working out kinks on how to write how they kill off Vecna and the Upside Down.
Tumblr media
“Perfect form,” You heard him say when you were climing out of the pool.
You spotted him when you first got to the community pool, you weren’t too sure if he spotted you, but you didn’t care if he did or not.  0You rolled your eyes at the sound of his voice and didn’t turn to look at him.
“What? You’re not going to talk to me? You haven't seen me for a year and that's the way you treat me?
You turned around and looked at the women watching you before you looked at him. “How about you go and flirt with those middle aged women who are death glaring at me right now. Instead of worrying about a girl who dumped your sorry ass over a year ago, Billy,” You said walking away from him and towards your car.
-
It's been years since you went to Hawkins, Indiana, and it's definitely changed. Half of downtown was shutting its doors. Thanks to the mall they built. You parked in your car in the busy parking lot and sighed. You really didn't want to deal with all these people now, but you promised your mother you'd get your little brother. It took you half an hour to find out where the ice cream parlor was, but you finally found it. "Are you allowed to be here?" The guy handed out the ice cream to a couple of girls who looked at each other and ran and laughed.
The guy was pretty good looking to get even though he had a stupid sailor hat on but he was just plain good looking. What you found attractive about men is exactly what you found attractive about that guy.
The girl giggled and then turned around and looked at you. That's when you realize she was Billy's kid sister, Max. “Max”?
Her eyes went wide as she squealed when she saw you, ran up to you and hugged you with a death grip. “Yn! What are you doing here?”
You stumbled back a bit at the sheer force this little girl has. “I’m picking up my brother. You guys moved to Hawkins?”
Max nodded her head. “Yeah. Billy is gonna go bat shit crazy when he sees you,”
“Yeah… we already ran into each other at the pool,”
“Who are you?” The girl that was with Max just abruptly said.
“Oh. Yn, meet Eleven. El for short. El, believe it or not, Billy's former girlfriend,"
“You dated Billy?”
“Yeah, I was stupid,”
“Who's your brother?”
“Dustin Henderson,”
“Wait? Really? " Max's voice was full of confusion. "But you don't look like each other and you don't have the same surname."
“Yeah, different dads. Same mom,”
“We’re good friends with Dustin,”
“Have you seen him?”
“No. Not today," Max said looking at her watch. “It was really good seeing you  again but we gotta go,”
“Oh, okay. You too, Maxi,”
It was your favorite thing to call Max and at first she hated it, but she ended up enjoying it.
You watched them giggle again and left the ice cream store. You scanned the ice cream shop looking for the curly hair boy, but you didn’t see him. You sighed. “Do you need help with something?”
As you turned to look towards the source of that voice, you saw that it was the man behind the counter. You smiled at him and walked up to him and that when you took notice of his name tag. The name on his tag was Steve. It had to be the Steve Dustin wouldn't keep quiet about. "Ooh, you're Steve,"
“I-uh-yeah. How’d you know that?”
“Your name tag,”
He glanced down at his name tag. “Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I’m Steve, you?”
“Yn. Yeah, my brother told me a lot about you,”
“He did? What did he say? Wait. Who's your brother?”
“Dustin,”
“Henderson is your brother? You're Henderson’s sister? Wait, Henderson's got a sister?"
You silently laughed about how confused you made Steve. Before you even had a chance to say anything, he lifted a finger and opened the sliding window behind him. You could see a room which was probably storage room or break room or both "Do you have a sister?"
“Yeah, Yn. Why? Is she here?”
Dustin’s head popped up in the window and he smiled at you. “Hey sis. What are you doing here? This is Steve,”
“Mom asked me to pick you up and yeah I got that,”
"Well, we're in the middle of something, can you come back later?"
“No. Not really. I have other things to take care of. So whatever you’re doing needs to be hurried up or it can wait for another day,”
“I can drive him home-
"Hey, you know Russian?" Another head appeared in the glass cutting Steve. This time a woman.
"I know bits of it, why?" Dustin,”
“What?”
"What have you been up to?"
"What makes you think I did anything?"
"Because that's all you ever do,"
The girl walked away from the window and, in a few seconds, opened the door leading to the back. “Come in here,”
You watched her strangely, but you did as she asked. You wYou came in the room and saw Dustin's tape recorder on the table and a whiteboard with the Russian alphabet on it.s anyone care to explain what's going on?”
“So you know that radio that I built during summer camp to stay in contact with Suzie?”
“Yes,”
“Well, yesterday. I took my friends and set it up. Anyway, I intercepted a secret Russian transmission,"
“DUSTIN! That's what I'm talking about when I say you're always up to no good.
“I know. I know. I didn’t mean to but it just happened,”
“Dustin. Well, I guess we’re already in the middle of it. Let me hear it,”
You don’t know how many times you had replayed the recording at this point. Yes, you know Russian but it wasn’t the entire alphabet that you knew. That was only a few sentences. After listening to it a few times, putting what you knew together and looking at the Russian alphabet You finally deciphered a bit. “Wait, that last part, just one more time,”
“Okay,” Dustin said, rewinding the tape.
You let it play out until you heard what you were looking for. “That word. It’s pronounced “dly-nna-ya. Which is spelled D,”
Before you could even say anything Dustin answered. “The chair. The chair-looking  thingy,”
“Yes. I know the first sentence,” You said.
"What is it?" replied Steve, opening the window.
You looked up at him. “The week is long,”
“Well, that’s thrilling,”
You chuckled. "I know, but at least it's better than what you came up with."
After a few hours, you had finally cracked all of what it said. You had ended up blowing off what you were originally gonna do to help Dustin and his friends do this. You do not even know why, because you had the feeling that it would explode in your face.
"The week is long", the silver cat feeds, "when blue meets yellow in the west",” Dustin said as Steve was locking up the ice cream shop after it had closed. “I mean, it- just it just can't be right,”
You shrugged. “It's right. Honestly, I think it's great news,”
Steve said, standing back up. “How is this great news?  I mean, so much for being American heroes. It's total nonsense,”
“It's not nonsense. It's too specific. It's obviously a code,”
“What do you mean, a code? Like a super secret spy code. That's a total stretch,”
Robin raised her hands. “I don't know, is it?”
“You're buying into this? Listen, just for kicks, let's entertain the possibility that it is a secret Russian transmission. What'd you think they were gonna say, "Fire the warhead at noon?”
“Exactly,”
“And if the translation is correct. I know that for sure, so "The silver cat feeds". Why
would anyone talk like that unless they're trying to mask the meaning of their message?”
“Exactly,”
“Why would anyone mask the true meaning of their message unless the message was somehow sensitive?”
“Exactly,”
You turned to face your brother. “So I guess that confirms your suspicion,”
Dustin gave you a smile. “Evil Russians,”
“I can't believe I'm about to agree with this strange child, but, yeah, totally evil Russians. So how do we crack it?”
You were too busy listening to the conversion to realize that Steve wasn't here. “Wait. Where's Steve?”
You all turned around and saw Steve messing around with some change in front of a mechanical horse that was meant for kids. “Hey Steve.  What are you doing?”
Steve looked up at you guys. “Uh, it's a quarter. I need- Do you have a quarter?”
You pulled a quarter out of your pocket and threw it at him. “Sure you're tall enough for that ride though?”
The mechanical horse started going and playing that tune that every kid in Hawkins should know. Robin chuckled. “You need help getting up, little Stevie?”
Dustin laughed too. Steve was beginning to be frustrated. “Would you three just shut up and listen?”
You looked at it for a second before paying attention to the melody and this is where you realized what Steve was saying. “Oh fuck,”
Dustin must’ve too. “Holy shit,”
Steve bobbed his head. “The music,”
Robin was confused. “What am I listening to?”
Before you could speak, Dustin took out the tape player and played it. The mechanical horse was playing the same music that the tape was. “I don’t understand. It’s the exact same on the recording?”
‘Maybe they have horses like this in Russia,”
Steve is still staring at the horse. “Indiana Flyer? I don’t-I don’t think so. This code, it didn’t come from Russia, It came from here,”
“Yn, come back to Scoops tomorrow and help us finish cracking it,” Robin said. “If you’re not busy,”
I've already abandoned what I was going to do today to help you. So why not, see this through. I’ll come by with Dustin,”
“Cool,”
You, Steve and Dustin all walked Robin to her car and Steve walked you and Dustin to your car. Dustin, without telling Steve goodbye, jumped into the passenger seat. You shook your head and laughed before you looked at Steve's face. “Thank you,”
“No thanks needed. A real gentleman will always escort a lady to the car,”
You just smiled but you shook your head. "I mean, thank you for that, but that's not why I was thanking you,"
Steve raised an eyebrow at you. “What are you talking about?”
“Thanks for standing by for Dustin. Dustin told me that you helped him with many things and that you always made sure he was fine. I really appreciate it."
“Oh. There still isn't any need to apologize for that either. Dustin can be a dick, but he's a great kid."
You caught a glimpse of Dustin playing with your radio. You took a couple of steps towards Steve and placed a chaste kiss on his cheek before you got in your car and drove away. You drove to your house and parked your car in the driveway. “So that was the infamous Steve Harrington?”
“Cool, isn’t he?”
“I don’t know yet,”

S2. Ep 3 & 4
The Pollywog & Will the Wise
Word count: 3477
chapter warnings: semi follows the plot. lowkey kinda repetitive. cursing. post halloween party. billy.
~*~ ~*~ ~*~
Nights in Hawkins were cold, but Y/N couldn’t feel anything other than the sugar in her system. After they had ditched the party, Steve and Y/N went on the hunt for candy, the pair craving it. They’d located it (Steve gave two kids ten dollars each for their bags) and walked until they found the precipice of the lake. Steve had helped her onto the tabletop of the wooden set and handed her a bag of candy.
“You still regret coming back to Hawkins?” Steve asked after she popped in a chocolate bar. She stared at him with wide eyes, causing the two to break into a fit of laughter.
“No,” she answered, “Weird as it may sound, I missed Hawkins.”
“Why’d you come back?” he asked, unknowingly striking a nerve. Y/N tensed and looked at her hands.
“Just missed my dad’s all,”
The two justified the strange silence between them by eating their candy. She would risk glances at Steve, missing it when he did the same to her. It took a while and several candy bars until the two got comfortable, sharing anecdotes that wouldn’t make sense under normal circumstances. Tears in their eyes, the two shared the same thought. It felt as if they were kids again, sharing secrets and jokes. As if she’d never left.
“Of, fuck,” she cursed, risking a glance at her watch, “oh, shit. We have to go.”
“Why?” Steve laughed, “your car turning into a pumpkin at 1?”
She would’ve laughed at his stupid joke had she not been panicking, “no, but if I’m late, my dad’s gonna have a hernia.”
Her words were sobering. Steve rushed down from the wooden table and urged her to his car, driving to Tina’s house with determination. She thanked him in a hurried tone and got into her car, speeding away and leaving Steve behind her.
With haste, she opened the door, praying to any higher being that it was kept unlocked for her. Silently celebrating when the lock didn’t give her any problems, she stepped in and looked around the dark cabin. A sigh of relief escaped her mouth at the sight of an empty house, her father nowhere to be seen.
“Do you know what time it is, Tulip Hopper?” She jumped at the sound of her father’s rough voice.
“Quarter till one,” Y/N responded, a sheepish smile on her face. Her eyes settled on her father, who sat on the love seat, a beer in hand.
“You said midnight,” he reminded. Y/N shook her head in disagreement, instantly regretting it when the dizziness hit her.
“I said one at the latest,” Hopper rolled his eyes.
“You smell like the back of a bar,” he accused, “were you drinking? And driving?”
Y/N shook his head, “never. I had a drink spilled on me. I just had a pillowcase worth of candy, that’s all.”
Hopper sighed, “just go to bed. You have school in the morning.”
“Good idea,” Y/N nodded, the sugar crash finally hitting her. She stumbled into her bedroom, falling face-first on the mattress. “Good night, Dad. Good night, El.”
“Go to sleep, Tulip!” her father exclaimed from the living room.
~*~
The basketball scrimmage had long since started by the time Y/N entered the gym. She sat on the wooden bleachers beside her friend Maura, eyes moving from player to player until they settled on Steve. She glanced behind him at the guy guarding him. He was close. Too close for it to be considered fair play, but she doubted that Steve, or the guy, cared. She cringed, watching Steve get pushed back, scowling at the guy. He was obnoxious.
“Steve?” Nancy Wheeler’s voice called out from the entrance of the gym. Y/N's gaze turned to her, as did Steve’s. Her eyes followed Steve’s body as he left the room. Y/N sighed. Her first class with Steve, and he hadn’t acknowledged her. It was as if the moments they shared the previous night didn’t matter to him. Spilling details of their lives on the edge of a lake while gorging on candy replayed in her mind, becoming a happy memory. But to Steve, it was probably nothing.
The game had been put on a timeout, the shirts team citing a loss of a member. Y/N placed a hand under her chin and propped it on her knee. The teacher had told her since she was new, she wouldn’t be forced to participate in any events. Not so close to the end of the semester, at least.
A nudge on her shoulder had Y/N looking at Maura, who only pointed upwards at the boy blocking her view.
“Pretty girl like you shouldn’t be so bored,” a gruff voice came from above her. She blinked unamused and made eye contact with the curly-haired douchebag.
“Can’t help it. You guys suck,” the boy took an uninvited seat next to her, effectively pushing Maura and her friends down the bench, spreading his legs until his knees touched hers. She moved them, giving him a side-eye.
“Even me?” he asked, smirk cooly cemented on his face, unfazed by her noticeable recoil.
“Especially you,” she replied, “Cheap shots are never entertaining.”
“What do you know about cheap shots in basketball?” he asked, blue eyes blinking at her through his lashes. She stared at him, unimpressed.
“I’m not an idiot,” she said, “you can’t rely on natural talent, so you resort to cheating.”
“I wouldn’t cheat on you,” he flirted. Y/N rolled her eyes.
“I don’t even know your name,”
“Billy,” he informed, stretching back against the bleachers and throwing his arm around her, “Billy Hargrove.”
“Mmhmm,” she wanted out of the conversation, “you still don’t know mine.”
“Pretty girl like you’s gotta have a pretty name,”
She thanked the heavens the second the whistle blew. Billy stood up and ran back to his team, flexing at her. She rolled her eyes. Gym class would be her longest class if Hargrove kept his pitiful antics. Steve ran back through the doors, distress evident on his face. She wondered what happened between him and Nancy. She wondered how they got involved in the first place. Steve and Y/N were a year older than her. It was odd.
~*~
Closing her locker shut after her history class, Y/N groaned. “Billy.”
“Word around the hall’s saying your name’s Tulip.” He boasted. Y/N blinked in annoyance, wondering which one of her friends had shared that information with him. The second day of classes had proved more successful than her first. She’d reunited with her old friends, and it was almost as if she’d never left.
“Only friends call me Tulip,” she stated, moving away from him. To her chagrin, he kept her pace.
“I can be more than a friend to you,” he whispered, leaning close to her ear, “that is if you want.”
“Hard pass,” she glared. She wondered who she killed in a past life to have deserved a punishment such as holding Billy Hargrove’s attention. Her rejection only seemed to ignite something in him and make him want her more.
“I’ll make you crack,” he promised, “I’ll have you begging for me.”
“If you say so,” she called over her shoulder, “oh, and just for your information, Billy, my dads the chief of police.”
Watching his suave demeanor fade was like a sweet victory to her. She joined the rest of the students walking out of the front entrance and set about her walk to the cabin. Elton John sang into her ears through her walkman. A burgundy car pulled up beside her, honking to gain her attention. Y/N startled and glared at the culprit.
“Why are you so obnoxious, Harrington?” she questioned, stopping in her tracks to talk to the boy through the open window.
“‘Cause it’s fun,” he smirked, eyes settling on the walkman tucked in her back pocket, “you going far?”
“Just home,” she replied with a shrug, “nothing too bad.”
“Get in,” he demanded softly, “I can take you.”
Y/N clicked her tongue, “and what about Nancy? Won’t she get mad when she hears you had another girl in your car?” Especially if the said girl was your crush way back when.
“I couldn’t care less about her right now,” Steve clipped, “now, get in the car, Rose.”
“You’re bossy,” she muttered as she got into the passenger seat of his car. He motioned for her to turn her window up to let the cold air remain outside. She was internally grateful she wouldn’t have to partake in the lengthy walk to the cabin. The autumn air had ripped in through the seams of her light sweatshirt and kissed her cheeks, turning them cold and dry. She had been wise enough to protect her lips with a tinted gloss.
“What were you listening to?” Steve asked, head motioning towards her walkman before his eyes turned back to the road.
“Your Song by Elton John,” she responded. Steve hummed, fingers tapping on the steering wheel.
“Pop it in?” he asked. She smiled and obliged, taking it out of the walkman and into his stereo, Elton John’s low voice echoing through the car. She watched Steve’s face, searching for any signs that would tell her whether he liked the song or not. A slight flicker of the eyes or a twitch of the lips. But he gave her nothing. She glared at him.
“Well,” she queried, “what do you think?”
He hummed, “it’s okay.”
She frowned at him, looking through his collection, “Elton John is more than okay. I shouldn’t even be wasting my breath. You like Wham!”
“What’s wrong with Wham!?” he questioned, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go is a great song.”
Y/N scoffed, “yeah, for a middle school, prepubescent boy. You don’t know real music, Harrington. I saw one, ONE, Queen tape in your entire collection.”
“I have more at home,” he defended. It was a lie, but he didn’t want Y/N to continue picking at his less-than-stellar music taste. She only looked at him, staring right through his lie. She shook her head and changed the tape for another. Steve wasn’t going to admit it, not to his haughty friend, but her music was starting to grow on him.
He pulled up in front of the cabin, placed the car into park, and turned to look at her with a soft look on his face. She looked at him, “what happened with you and Nancy?”
Steve closed his eyes, “nothing important, okay? She’s not important right now.”
“Okay,” was all she said, not wanting to push him. “I’m going to leave my tape here. You know, so that you can have some decent music in your life.”
With those as her parting words, she stepped out of the car and walked towards the door. She waited until Steve was gone before she knocked on the door, waiting for El to open the door as she usually did. When Y/N didn’t hear the locks click, she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. Despite being distant, El was reliable. She would open the door within seconds of the knocking. The older girl wondered if El was as contrarious as her father was. If their fight the night before had extended onto her by extension of Hopper.
She tried the knock a final time. When the door failed to open, she submitted to her fate. With an annoyed groan, she sat down on the wooden steps and pulled out her notebooks with an annoyed groan. With the fleeting sunlight, she forced her eyes to focus on the numbers and words set against the white paper. It was pointless; the cold was merciless with its goal to make her miserable.
Hawkins was a safe town, but the woods were impetuous. The familiar sound of leaves crunching captured her attention. She had been vigilant the entire time she’d been sitting on the steps. The sight of her father had her sighing in relief. He gave her a weak smile and shrugged off his coat, wrapping it around her with the zipper. Hopper felt guilt course through him and settle in his gut at Y/N’s shivering. It wasn’t a cold night, but she had been left outside for hours with only the clothes on her back. In the middle of the woods.
“Let’s get you inside, Tulip,” he soothed, opening the door and letting her step in first. For a moment, the thought of El risking herself absconded his mind. He focused on bringing warmth to his eldest daughter, wanting nothing more than to prevent a cold from grasping onto her. Y/N wasn’t unaware that her dad felt guilty about leaving her to the uncompassionate weather, so she allowed him to dote on her.
“Where’s El?” she asked after her father had placed one too many blankets across her body. Her father tensed.
“I don’t know,” he answered honestly. Y/N nodded and let the conversation fade out. She was well-versed in her father’s moods, knowing when it was okay to trapeze and pry, and when to let the topic float away. She had yet to be informed on anything regarding El, but the topic was a touchy one for her father. Y/N had decided to let allow Hopper to come to her first about it and inform her on his own time. She didn’t know if she was being passive or understanding.
“You know, dad now would be a great time for you to explain everything,” Y/N tried, eyes boring into his. Hopper’s movements halted as he looked at his daughter and sighed.
“I will tell you everything in due time, Tulip,” he said, placing a mug of hot chocolate on the table in front of her, “I promise.”
His promise had her dropping the topic. He knew how sacred they were to her and just how impeccable she would become if he didn’t make good on it. She took them to heart, and every one she’d ever been made embedded itself in it. If the person dared to break one of their sacred oaths, her heart would go with it. It was trivial, she knew, but she took them seriously. Y/N leaned back against the cushions with a nod and closed her eyes. She could hear her father pacing.
“Dad,” she called, “El will show up, please stop pacing.”
The door opened and then closed, “that’s one way of stopping.” She couldn’t be bothered to be annoyed as long as her father stopped adding onto her growing headache. From the corner of her barely open eyes, she could see the silhouette of her father on the porch, a lit cigarette dangling from his fingers. Part of her was worried about El, but guilt coursed through her veins at the thought of it being a small part. She knew no one would blame her–she’d only just met her–but the older sister part of her did. El was her sister, whether she liked it or not. For a brief moment, the image of Sara splayed through her mind. Her younger sister would be disappointed at the thought of Y/N not accepting someone as family. Especially someone her father had taken in as his own.
El stomped in before her father did. Hopper slamming the door only worsened her headache. She had only ever seen her father furious once in her life. He was an easy man to anger, his anger issues only inflaming after he came back from the war. He had sworn that he would never raise his voice at her the last time she’d seen him infuriated. Her father had kept his promise, but he never said anything about not raising his voice around her.
“‘Friends don’t lie.’ Isn’t that your bullshit saying?” from her place on the couch, surrounded by the mountain of blankets, she could see Hopper and El. She winced. The younger girl stomped towards the bedroom, Hopper following her with the same volcanic anger.
“Hey, hey! Hey! Don’t walk away from me!” His hand stopped the door from slamming. She could see El, her face distraught and unwavering. Y/N’s heart panged at the sight of her watery eyes, but she couldn’t do anything. Not while her head pounded uncontrollably.
“Where’d you go on your little field trip, huh?” her father asked, his words biting, “where?”
Y/N wasn’t blind to the look of sadness in El’s eyes. Hopper seemed to have missed it in his anger. She watched the two, voices raised and fingers pointing. Y/N felt small and awkward like she was intruding. Despite being part of the family, she felt like an outsider. The two knew things that Y/N didn’t, and they hadn’t shown any signs of including her. Not wanting to be a spectator, she walked into her shared bedroom and closed the door. Sounds of things moving and falling filled her ears. She ignored it. Whatever was happening behind her four walls was between El and Hopper.
El slammed the door shut, and in her headache-induced mind, Y/N brushed off the fact that she did it without touching it. She stared at El as she slid against the wall and let out a sharp scream, the sound of glass breaking echoing through the closed door. Y/N stood up from her bed, a pink blanket wrapped around her as she sat beside El.
“El?” she tried cautiously, “can I hug you?”
The jerk of her head was small, swift. She almost missed it. Y/N opened her arms and pulled her in, draping the pink blanket across their shoulders. El’s sobs wracked her body, and all Y/N did was hold her, small comforting words leaving her lips. Y/N’s fingers drew shapes on El’s arms, trying to keep El’s tears at bay. El’s breathing evened out, and Y/N stood up, her arms under her knees, and lifted her. She set her on her bed and kissed her forehead, tucking her in. For the first time, she felt as if she were El’s sister.
She decided to give Hopper space. As much as she wanted both of them to be on good terms, meddling and playing the person in the middle was the last thing she wanted to do. Settling into her bed again, she wrapped herself in her blanket and closed her eyes. Her father was going to apologize eventually, he was the adult, and he was out of hand. It wasn’t going to happen the usual way; he would do it in his own Jim Hopper way. He would begin the apology and then go back to being a hard-ass.
~*~
Gym class was her least favorite class. Billy Hargrove was relentless. He deemed her worthy of his attention, and while others may have swooned, she felt it was punishment for something. Her declaration of her being the Chief’s daughter did nothing to dissuade him; it only tamed some of his comments. The moment she stepped into the gymnasium, the sight of a shirtless Billy greeted her.
“Liking what you see?” Billy asked. Y/N gave him a blank look and pushed past him. He only laughed and followed after her.
“I’m gonna make you want me,” he stated.
“Tough chance,” was her reply. She turned away from him. He chuckled and walked away, flexing his muscles and making his way to the basketball court. She watched the game before them, noticing the dirty way Billy played. She wasn’t going to deny he was attractive, she understood why he had a flock of girls swooning over him, but he wasn’t the one she had her eyes set on. Billy Hargrove was too abrasive for her liking.
Her mind wandered back to El. She felt bad for the girl. Her father was hardheaded and stubborn, and while she had a great relationship with him, it wasn’t easy to build it. She only hoped his relationship with El would get better with time. She also hoped El would trust her as a sister would, to come to her when she needed comfort or company. Last night had been the first step towards that.
“Hey,” Steve’s voice called from behind her. She turned to smile at him, waiting for him to catch up to her.
“King Steve,” she greeted teasingly, “how can this humble commoner help you?”
Steve nudged her with his shoulder, “shut up. You know they’re calling you Hawkins’ Flower, right?”
Y/N glowered at him, “shut up.”
Steve laughed and stuck his hands in his pocket, “I need your help.”
Y/N turned to him, “with what?”
“Apologizing to Nancy,”
Y/N nodded, ignoring the growing green she felt in her body, “okay, what do you need?”
The grin on Steve’s face was worth the subtle breaking in her heart and the growing pit of sadness.

Writing Prompt:
“And where are you going?”
“Anywhere you aren’t”
(Stranger Things POV)
The kids, which included Max, Lucas, Dustin, El, Mike, and Y/n, who wasn’t actually a kid but acted as if she was, were all sitting on Y/n’s couch. The adults, Steve and Eddie were seated on the stools at the island right next to the kitchen.
“Ugh. Do you have any board games? Or something to entertain us?? We just finished saving the world. I want to do something fun! Not just sit around and look at each other.”
Lucas had said while looking at Y/n. “Uhm. Well I have board games, Video Games, and……… Oh! We could watch a movie too! I also have a bunch of snacks. Like chocolate pudding, Ice cream, popcorn, and eggos.”
Y/n saw eleven's face light up when she heard Y/n say eggos.
“I’m down for a movie!” Dustin said as everyone agreed with him. “Great I’ll go get the snacks then” Y/n said while getting up from the couch and walking to the kitchen.
Y/n grabbed as many snacks as she could find. She could hear Steve and Eddie talking amongst themselves but decided not to listen to their conversation.
Y/n finally got all the snacks and was about to head back to the couch. That was until Steve said “And where are you going?”
Y/n looked at him with a slight frown. She then said “wherever you aren’t.” She then made a smile towards him and walked back to the couch with her friends.
Steve then told Eddie “she totally digs me” with a big smirk on his face. “Whatever you say Harrington”.
I got the prompt from Pinterest, so credit to @bibliomavens on Pinterest. I apologize if it isn’t the greatest. I got bored and wanted to write. Well anyways I hope you have an amazing day!

Billy Hargrove x Reader
You are afraid to tell your boyfriend something, and when he finds out it's even worse.
TW/Tags; eating disorder, anorexia, self doubt, self image issues, dark thoughts, billy hargrove x reader, platonic Max Mayfield x reader, mentions of abuse
He couldn't know. Not with everything that he had going on. It would only bother him. You didn't want to add more stress to your lover.
If you told Billy he would only worry about you. He didn't need to worry about you he had his own worries and things to deal with.
He was finally healing and you weren't going to mess it up. Every since Neil was arrested for domestic abuse, Susan got hit and billy had had enough, billy lived with Susan and max in a smaller house.
He was happier, but his therapist said it will be difficult. He sometimes has random outbursts of anger or tears. It's normal.
If he found out about starving yourself it would only hurt him. It would delay his healing. You didn't tell anyone so the only person it hurt was you.
"Yn?" You heard a voice ask. You turned around to see Max. She had spent the night. Susan had been drunk and Billy needed to be alone. He had had a panic attack at the store after seeing a man that looked similar to Neil. Sometimes billy would need comfort and sometimes he needed to be alone. Right now it was the later.
"What's up?" You ask the red head as she walks towards you. Her hair is mused from sleep and she is still in her pajamas.
"I, it's stupid never mind," she says brushing it off as she goes to make some toast. You know what that tone means it doesn't mean something good.
"Max, it's not stupid if it's bothering you," you say and walk over to her. She sighs as she watches her toast toast.
"When's Billy going to be better?" She asks in a small voice. Your heart aches for her. You wanted Billy to be better to, it just didn't work like that.
"It takes time. And he's never going to be the exact same, only better then before," you tell her as her toast pops up.
She smiles and begins to butter the toast, "Aren't you going to eat?" She asks and you shake your head.
"I had cereal this morning," you lie and max nods before walking off to go find something to watch. She loved your house, no rules. If she wanted to eat toast and watch TV at six am, she could.
Max had been getting slightly suspicious. In therapy her therapist had mentioned something called an eating disorder. She was told to make sure she was eating, trauma sometimes caused these disorders. But it could also be caused by insecurity.
She never saw you eat, and if you did it wasn't much. There wasn't a bowl in the sink or drying rack. You probably were just not hungry over being upset. Max knew the toll everything had taken on you. Billy did it sometimes to. He always made up for it by drinking protein shakes. Max didn't think you drank those.
Max ignored those thoughts as she went back to watching looney toons. You would say something if something was wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------
Billy was getting worried about you. Everytime he saw you you looked thinner. He brought it up one time and you had just said girl issues and it was normal.
He decided not to pry, but he thinks maybe he should of. He could ask max? She was, well a teenager.
Billy didn't like the thought of it but he would have to in order to make sure you were okay. Your clothes were getting baggy and you were always tired. He never saw you eat.
"Max," Billy yells from outside Max's room. She groans before slamming the door open. "I need to talk to you about yn," he says and walks in.
"Is it normal," billy sighed he didn't want to be talking about this, "for girls to like, lose weight? During girl issues and shit?" He asks while pacing.
"What?" Max asks and looks confused, "Losing weight is a no, or a little is. Before our cycle and stuff like a few pounds get gained but we always lose it within a week or so," Max explains as billy turns a shade of crimson.
"Ew, but no it's more then a few pounds I think," Billy says and Max grabs her library card before looking back at Billy.
"I don't see her eat anymore, do you think she bulimic? That's what Chrissy was," Max says referencing to before Chrissy had to go to a hospital due to passing out during a game.
"Shit," Billy grumbles before grabbing his keys and racing to his car with Max.
After a few hours in the library, they came to the conclusion that you had anorexia. You skipped meals and we're getting skinny. Always tired was another thing they had noticed.
"Shit, shit, shit, what do we do?" Billy asks. Could they just ask her?
"We can't just ask her. But maybe bring it up?" Max suggests as billy checks out a few books and walks to his car.
They both drive over to your house. Who knows what was going on with you. Were you even okay?
Billy doesn't waste time knocking and walks into your house. He notions for max to wait and he goes to your room.
You smile weakly when you see him. He knows what's going on. It's confirmed, you look more pale then usual. Skinnier, and your eyes don't glow like they used to.
"Yn, I know about what's going on," Billy says softly as he sits next to you. Your heart fell. He was trying so hard to recover and you had fucked everything up.
"I'm sorry, I didn't want to mess up your recovery," you apologize and cling to his side. Billy can't believe that you didn't tell him so he didn't get hurt.
"No don't be sorry, I should of seen the signs," billy says and pulls you in for an even tighter hug.
"Its not your fault," you whisper as he kisses your hair. H me was going to help you beat these invisible demons.

Max Mayfield x sick reader GN
Max and reader are in college and Yn lives with one of their other friends Max and Yn made plans to hangout today. But Max got concerned when Yn didn’t show up. That’s when she got a call from your roommate. “Hey Max I just wanted to tell you that Yn is sick so they won’t be able to hangout and don’t even try coming over here they won’t want you getting sick”
despite your roommate telling max not to come over she did anyway before she came over she picked up soup and snacks for you. She arrived at your apartment and used her spare key to get in knowing your roommate was out working. She gently opened your bedroom door. Once she went into your room she saw you passed out on the bed above the blankets. Assuming you were running a fever and were hot Max went to the bathroom and wetted a cold washcloth and gently put it on your forehead. This caused you to stir awake. “Hey baby” max said in a gentle tone rubbing the back of her head against your cheek. You let out a quiet hello back to tired to complain about Max coming over. Max got into bed next to you holding you for a while tell you fell asleep again.
Once max knew you were asleep she got up to make you soup. She was kinda disappointed your roommate left you alone while you were sick. Once the soup was done she brought two bowls to your room seeing you were awake. You spent the rest of the day snacking on foods and watching movies in the arms of your amazing Girlfriend Max Mayfield

PROLOGUE.
stranger things!harry x mayfield!yn

Y/N Mayfield was very different from her mother and sister. From the physical to her personality. People in California were making (and whispers are now being heard in Hawkins too) that Y/N and Max's mother had cheated on their father and that Y/N was an illegitimate child, or was adopted. Her mother and Max had that beautiful reddish hair and blue eyes, pale complexion and freckles. Y/N, on the other hand, had gotten everything from her father: chocolate brown eyes and golden hair. Y/N's personality was also quite similar to her father's, both of them were easily irritated and had severe anger issues (though at least Y/N was learning to control them).
While you might think that Y/N and his father would have some kind of affinity, everything changed when he left her mother and them. One day, he just got up and left. Without looking back, without saying anything. It was a very hard blow for all of them, especially for her mother.
Y/N was about 12 years old when she met Neil and Billy. It turns out that Neil and her mother had met at a cafe and hooked up. Soon they had both discovered that they were in the same situation: they were single parents. It took less than 6 months for them all to move into a nice Californian house together. Soon Y/N discovered the strange and violent nature with which Neil had raised his son, and that Billy himself had acquired.
Billy enjoyed being disrespectful to Max, he liked to tease her and make disparaging comments about her. Of course, this was done when Y/N was not in sight. God knew that if Y/N found out about the things Billy said and did to Max, Y/N would kill him with her bare hands. However, after living in California all their lives, their mother and Neil decide to move to Indiana because their financial situation was not the best and certainly not Billy and Max's attitude at school. So they bought a nice house in Hawkins, a remote and quiet town, and in a few months they changed their whole lives and settled there.
If there was one thing Y/N hated more than anything in the world, it was meeting new people. Her extremely shy and closed personality did not allow it. She was not like her mother: kind and always ready to lend a hand. Or like Max: sarcastic but funny. Or like Billy: charming and knowing how to win people over. That's why Y/N was very panicked when they arrived at Hawkins, especially when the course had already started a month ago.
Little did she know that meeting new people would be the least of her worries in that town.

Warnings-crying,swearing,former reader x Eddie,kissing,mentions of breaking up,smoking drinking,if there’s anymore tell me
You and Eddie broke up a couple of months back now but you and Eddie stayed friends well that’s what you thought
It has been aqward at times like when Eddie bought Chrissy Cunningham which made you feel lower down not perfect like Chrissy
You was walking towards the hellfire club table where the entire of Hellfire was sat and Chrissy on eddies lap he moved on quickly but then you overheard what they was talking about
“Guys I’ve been thinking for a while and I’ve finally decided that yn mayfield is kicked out Hellfire she won’t be playing with us anymore”Eddie announced to the table
You walked to the toilets and got changed into the black shirt you had under you Hellfire club shirt you walked back and passed it to Eddie and he looked at you in disbelief to make it look like you was quitting
“I heard you was kicking me out so here instead of you telling me here’s the shirt I hope you find a new member and I wish you all great look I’ll see you around school maybe” you smiled the smile full of pain and tears prickling from the corner of your eyes
Eddie nodded Dustin Lucas and Mike all felt bad you was there best friends older sister now it’s gonna be aqward between the younger kids that was apart of the group

Even though at the moment you hated him you couldn’t let your ‘friend’ disappear just like Barb did your gonna look for him even though you hate him with all your heart and body
The three chased after you and you walked in the boat house your hand accidentally holding Steve’s Billy and max actually getting along when you knocked the tarpauling and Eddie came out you screamed when he grabbed you by the neck
“Get the fuck away” Eddie snapped
When Eddie said that it reminded you of when you was dating and it started turning toxic and arguments everyday before you broke up
You yellped making Eddie know it’s you only because of the help of fear you pushed Eddie off of you falling into Steve’s arms
Everything came more and more aqward when you and Steve started dating and Eddie saw you running to Steve and dodging Eddie to hug and kiss Steve guess eddie got jelous that he lost you

I need a Max Mayfield x Henderson! Reader, established relationship, reader is also in the party
(max is 15, reader is 16 just so she can be the older Henderson)
Max dumped lucas. Again. Everybody thinks Lucas will win her back, nobody knows she has been dating another party member, Y/N, for a few weeks.
Until, they walk into the AV club and Max and Y/N are making out....
Just think it would be funny, and everybody would be confused,.Dustin said
"So that's why you like spending the night at my house," and ofc Max stayed in yns room, not Dustin's.
And everybody is still shocked.
Cute idea! But I am not taking stranger things request at the moment. You can see this by going to my page and read the pinned list! Also you can go to the “People I write for” and see that the fandom is closed. But maybe i could write it when the show comes back out of when I get inspiration for that again.

Sweat dripped off your nose as the sun’s burning rays shined down onto your face. Huffing breaths escaped you, while your legs were peddling. The market's vest would have blown off way behind you by now if it wasn't for the sweat that made it to cling to your front. Thank god Max lived only a 10 minute bike ride to her place from your work. You don’t think you could do the half an hour one to yours without a water break. Maybe wearing a long sleeve and jeans wasn't the best option of the day. But it was 60 when you left the house. How were you supposed to know that it was going to get up in the 90s by the time your shift ended.
The air conditioner in the back was so nice. And the fact your job was to only unload the new produce and other foods back there didn’t really give you the hint either. You muttered cuss words to yourself quietly as the bumping gravel made your jeans rub feverishly against your skin. It was almost certain that you’d get a rash.
Max would for sure have some of your clothes at her house you could snag back. You didn’t care what it was. The basketball shorts and oversized tee you left there accidentally at your last movie night. Or even the swimsuit that was a size too small from the beginning of spring break. It didn’t matter. All you wanted to do was get these sticky, smelly clothes off of you.
Your legs subconsciously went faster as the trailer park came into sight. The bike's tire smoothed across the rocks and grass. A cloud passed over much to your relief and you used the rest of your new found passion to hurry the hell up.
Your shoulders heaved up and down in an animated motion when you slowed down to a stop. Hunching over the handles you took a much needed couple of deep breaths.
“You good over there, L/n?” A familiar voice called from the right of you. Turning your head you caught sight of Eddie. A hose in his hand. His van drenched as suds were flowing into the grass. Eddie himself was in a white muscle-tee and some shorts. His pale skin blinding you more than the sun.
“Yeah, remind me to never wear jeans in the middle of August ever again,” you voiced back, getting up to place your kickstand. You took a couple steps closer to him while he took in your miserable state. Shuffling awkwardly as your workers vest even had sweat shown through it. The little plastic name tag with a smiley face pin on it didn’t look too smiley contrasted to your glum expression. He let out a couple chuckles in amusement.
“Lessons were learned though not?” he asked. His lip curled up in the corner slightly. You rolled your eyes, kicking off your shoes and pulling off your socks. Tossing them to the side. You were not in the mood for his teasing behavior. You stood with legs shoulder width apart as your arms spread out, eyes closed.
“Just spray me. Give me some sort of relief,” you practically begged. The sound of bike chains were heard behind you as Eddie gave you a generous douse of water. The clothes clung to your skin. Wiping the water from your eyes you turned to see the new visitors.
“Woah, didn’t know we had tickets to the gun show,” Lucas whistled. You let out a snort, snagging your shoes and socks from the ground, waving to Mike, Dustin, and Will on your way across the street.
“Thanks, Ed,” you called over your shoulder.
“Anytime.” Walking around to the back you took down a towel from the clothes line. Patting yourself down to get some of the water off. Then grabbing another one to wipe down the floors later. Approaching the deck you walked up the steps and noted the blinds were down. It didn’t raise your suspicion till you tried to open the slide screen door. It didn’t budge.
A little odd for the fact Max knew you were coming over when you called her around two. She said she would leave the it unlocked.
You tapped a finger on the window. Waiting for a response, your brows furrowed when you didn’t get one. Trying once again you still got nothing. Going down the stairs you shoved a hand into your pocket. Pulling out a couple keys and fishing through them. Finding the one marked with an M and clung to it.
You entered the front again. Glancing at the boys who were now soaked head to toe. Dustin had a pretty epic beard going on with the bubbly soap.
“Back so soon?” Mike called in your direction. His own body was covered in suds. Waving a hand in dismissal you went up to the front door. Knocking once more just in case.
“Max?” you yelled, knocking a little louder. The boys watched you with expressions of light confusion on their faces. You let out a huff of frustration before deciding to just unlock the door yourself, worry slowly building in your veins. Once the door was free you went to call again but stopped short, body freezing up.
The sight of Susan passed out on the couch, a hand falling near to the floor. However the line of vision from her hand led to a rolled away glass bottle of Jack Daniels and next to it was an unmoving Max. Your eyes widened and your body lurched into action. You fell to your knees, carefully maneuvering Max to face you. A visible red mark that was slowly turning into a jumbled mess of colors laid on her forehead. Tapping her cheek lightly you tried to receive some sort of response.
“Max, Max. Hey, c’mon.” Your hand moved to her neck. Checking for a pulse. As the throb of her heart met your fingertips an incoherent mumble passed her lips. A relieved sigh passed your lips. “Max, can you hear me?” A groan filled the quiet living space. You waited anxiously for to come to her senses. Slowly her cloudy eyes appeared behind their lids. Her hand slowly went to your cheek. Her thumb crossed your cheekbone.
“Y-Y/n?” She went to sit up but you carefully ushered her back down.
“It’s me. Just slow down for a sec. Let me-” You looked around the room before snagging a fallen pillow. You carefully pulled up her head and slid it under it. Once settled on the cushion, she moved a hand to the now prominent bruise. Wincing as she touched. You scanned her body, checking if there were any other marks. Not seeing anything major you went back to her face. Cupping her cheek lightly examining the injury.
“I don’t know what happened,” she spoke in a hushed voice. Placing her hand over yours. “I just remember you called. And I went to unlock the back but then... I-I must have slipped on something.” Your body went still. The realization of it all sinking in. You looked at the empty glass bottle, following the trail to the unconscious mother of year sprawled out across the couch. Without thinking you stood. Max’s hand clung to your briefly. “Where are you doing?” You didn’t answer as she called your name. Gabbing the pillow that Susan was currently drooling on you ranked it from under her. She jolted awake when her head hit the hard arm of the couch. A groan left her as she cradled her head.
“What the hell?” she mumbled, looking up at you with furrowed brows. Before looking down again as the sun’s rays beamed into her eyes. Her headache multiplied. “What are you-” You crouched down to her level, hands on your knees.
“It’s not fun hitting your head is it?” you questioned in a sarcastic tone. Still not fully coherent, she scanned the room in confusion. Eyes landing on Max who was slowly sitting up. The bump present as day. Susan went to call out to her in concern but you stopped her. “Maybe if you weren’t so wasted off your ass you’d realize your own daughter was passed out on the floor.” Susan's face scrunched up.
“Are you blaming this on me?” she asked in a rather offended voice. You scoffed.
“For the fact that there's just a convenient empty bottle of Jack just lying on the floor and you smell worse than the pub two blocks down? Yeah you just might have to take the blame,” you stated, pushing her to get up. She scrambled around, trying to gain traction on her feet while you practically hauled her to the door.
“What are you doing?” she all but yelled.
“Maybe this will give you a reality check to be an actual mom.” You pulled her out of the house, shoving her to the ground. She once again winced when she rounghy hit the soil. “I’ll let you back in when you’ll be some actual help.”
“This is my home. You can’t just kick me out of it.”
“I actually can and did.” You gave her a tight lipped smile before slamming the door and locking it. Huffing out a sigh you turned around to face Max. Only to meet with the sight of her wobbling to her feet. “Hey, stop,” you commanded gently, reaching her side. You took her arm and placed it over your shoulder then took yours under her knees and shoulders.
“What the hell just happened?” she questioned. She felt your shrug.
“I took out the trash.” Max’s brows furrowed.
“Did you just call my mom trash?” A soft chuckle passed her lips when you hummed in response, nudging her door open in the process. You placed her carefully on the mattress, laying her head on a pillow gently. You brushed a couple of stray hairs behind her ear. Frowning at the sight of her now purple mark.
“She needs to realize she needs to take care of you when you need it. And not be passed out almost daily from drinking. That should just be common sense but apparently not.” She bit her lip anxiously.
“I don’t need to be taken care of. I’m not some helpless little girl, y’know.” You hummed once more.
“I know but with everything that’s happened. You need a shoulder for support. It’s not the same anymore, Max. It’s alright to admit that you need help cause you do need it. That doesn’t mean you're weak. It means that you yourself know what your limits are and are strong enough to know when you need a little boost.” You sighed when you didn’t get a response. Stretching to your full height. “I’m gonna find an ice pack,” you murmured. You exited the room, turning to the kitchen and moving to open the freezer. Once getting the goods you headed back. Snagging a rag from a cabinet and wrapping the ice pack with it. You sat on the side of the bed, placing the object onto her lightly. She hissed through her teeth. Silence settled over the two of you.
“I know I need help,” she spoke softly. “It just sucks feeling helpless all the time and knowing I can’t do anything about it. I never thought that one day everything I ever cared for I would never be able to see again. I can’t see the sun or the stars. I can’t see you or the party or Steve's stupid hair. All I can see and will know for the rest of my life is fog. An endless void of fog.”
“You’re not helpless Max. You went through hell and back to get where you are now. I know it sucks losing your best key part to navigate, but I promise the people around you that care and are so happy that you are still here would be more than happy to help lead you through that fog.” You took her hand in your empty one. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
“Thanks, Y/n.”
“Anytime, honey.” Silence once again swept over you before she broke it again.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Ofcourse,” you responded. A light smile grew on her face.
“Why are you wet? I noticed it when you picked me up. You're almost soaked.” You let out a breathy laugh.
“Eddie gave me a hose down.”
“Eddie gave you a hoe down?”
“No! A hose down!”
“Jeez, I was about to say…”

The soldier came over to you and stomp on your ankle hard which you screamed out in pure pain.
“Put them in the chairs,”
They walked over to you and Steve and picked you both up and tied you both to chairs. ”Steve, wake up. Steve? What did you do?!”
The guy that you assumed was the commander walked around to Steve, you couldn’t see what he was doing as they placed you and Steve back to back. “Don’t touch him)”
He walked around to you and got down to your level,“
“Your friend needs a doctor. Good thing we have the very best,”
The commander  and the soldiers all laughed.
“You’re annoying, you know that?”
The commander looked up at you and smiled. “I like you. I actually do like her,” The commander  said, starting to walk out of the room. “She’s feisty,”
You heard the door lock as soon as they shut it.
You don’t know how long it was since you were in that room basically alone. You took notice of all the things. in the room but there was nothing in the room to help you out. Of course, there’s nothing in here to help, it’s not a fucking movie. “I really wish you’d wake up,”
“Miss my voice that much?”
Your heart started beating. “Steve! Oh my God!. Are you okay?”
“ My ears are ringing, and I can't really breathe. My eye feels like it's about to pop out of my skull, but, you know, apart from that, I'm doing pretty good,”
“Well, the good news is that they're calling you a doctor,”
“Is this his place of work? I love the vibe,”
You smiled at the fact that he hasn’t lost his charm. “Glad to see you didn’t lose the charm.. I’m glad you’re okay for the most part.,”
“I’m right here Yn. You’re not getting rid of me that easily.
“Good to know,”
"You find me charming? ”
“Who doesn’t? You’re Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington,”
“Wait, how do you know that?”
“My brother?”
“Oh. Oh yeah, forgot about that,”
“What the hell is the gate and how do you and Dustin know about it? Is it a Russian thing?”
Steve was quiet for a minute before talking. “No. It’s not a Russian thing. It’s a Hawkins, the Indiana thing. Over two years ago, our government basically opened up a portal to a parallel universe? Dimension? I don’t know what to call it, but the only thing was that this place from what I’ve heard was nothing compared to our world. It was full of evil, nasty creatures that wanted to kill you,” Steve said.
“And you’re up to where we are now,”
“So you’re saying that a 12-13 year old saved the world from not only a Demogorgon but the Mind Flayer as well and she has superpowers? Before you ask, no I don’t play D&D but I’ve seen my brother play it,”
“Yeah, I know. Trust me, I know. It sounds ridiculous, but it happened,”
“I believe you,”
“It just baffles me,” Steve said.
“What? That we are about to die in a secret Russian base. I know it baffles me too,”
Steve chuckled. “No. Everything that people tell you is important, everything that people say you should care about, it's all just bullshit. But I guess you gotta mess up to figure things out,”
You were about to say something, but the door opened up and in comes the commander, and doctor right and a few soliders walked in after them. “Ah, perfect you’re awake,”
“I told you we were going to get the doctor,”
“You care? Such a shocker?” You said, laying heavy sarcasm on it.
You both saw the doctor pull out a giant needle full of blue substance. “Try telling the truth this time, yes? It will make your visit with Dr. Zharkov less painful,”
Dr. Zharkov walked towards Steve with it. “Wait a second. Wait. Hold on. Okay! Wait, wait, wait! What is that thing?:
 “It will help you talk,”
“Did you even clean that thing?” He asked as the doctor injected him with whatever was in it.
The doctor walked back over to where his bag was and you watched him as he cleaned the needle before putting it back in whatever the blue stuff is and then he turned and faced you. It was your turn to be injected with it. Within a few minutes, you started feeling lightheaded and your mind went to shit and you two both started laughing.  “Honestly, I don't really feel anything. Do you?”
You meant that all the pain from your ankle had disappeared.
“I mean, I I feel fine. - I feel normal,”
“Yeah, I feel I feel fine. I kinda feel good,”
“I feel good,”
“Morons. They messed up the drug. They messed it up!”
“Morons. Hey, morons! Morons!”
“Would now be a good time to tell you that I don't like doctors?”
“Let's try this again, yes?” The commander  bent down to ask Steve. “Who do you work for?”
“Scoops. Scoops Ahoy,”
“How did you find us?”
“Totally by accident,”
They said something in Russian but you truly couldn’t tell what it was as they messed up your brain with whatever they gave you.
You saw the doctor pick up some sort of instrument and you heard Steve start freaking out. “Whoa, whoa, hey, hey. Wait! No! Wait! Wait!”
Steve freaking out made your heart shattered and you couldn’t see him in anymore pain.
“There was a code! We heard a code!”
“Code. What code?”
"The week is long. The silver cat feeds when blue meets yellow in the west." Blah, blah, blah. You broadcast that stupid spy shit all over town, and we picked it up on our Cerebro, and we cracked it in a day. A day! You think you're so smart, but a couple of kids found out. One who slings cream for a living and another one who doesn’t know who the fuck she is cracked your code in a day, and now, people know you're here. You. You Arsch mit ohren (but with ears)!”
“Who knows we are here, little bitch?”
Steve beat you to talking “Uh, well, Dustin knows,”
“Hey, Steve?”
“Yeah, Dustin Henderson, he knows!”
 “Steve! Shut up!”
“Dustin Henderson. It is your small, curly-haired friend?”
“Oh, curly-haired. Great hair. Small. Kind of like a 'fro. Yeah,”
“Where is he?”
“He's long gone. Yeah, whatever he called you and he's probably calling Hopper, and Hopper's calling the US cavalry. They're gonna come in here, commando-style, guns a-Blazin', and kick your sorry asses back to Russia. You're gonna be two pieces of toast,”
The commander snicked. “Is that so?
“Yeah,”
As if on cue, the alarm went off and you saw the commander’s face filled with worry. He leaves the room, but tells the guards to stay put. You saw Dustin running in with an electric pool thing. He goes over to Steve and unbinds him while Robin unbounds you.
-
You honestly can’t tell you what happened after Dustin and Robin found you as it was all just a blur. They dragged you into a movie theater and made you sit down and told you to stay. You started to get antsy getting there and you could tell Steve was too. “Let's go,”
You and Steve both got out of your chairs and walked to the water fountains and Steve took a drink first. “So, like, I wasn't totally focused in there or anything, but I'm pretty sure that mom was trying to bang her son,”
“Wait, wait, the hot chick was Alex P. Keaton's mom?”
“Yeah, I'm pretty sure. But they're the same age,”
“No, but he went back in time,”
“Then why is it called Back to the Future?”
“He has to go back to the future because he's in the past. So, the future is actually the present, which is his time,”
“Hey, yn. You gotta check this out.  Check this This The ceiling, it's beautiful,”
You walked over to where he had walked and looked up at the ceiling and it was twisting in different types of patterns and colors. It was just gorgeous,” You two started spinning around to see all the patterns.
That when your stomach made a god-awful sound and both of you took off running towards the bathroom. You leaned over the toilet and emptied all the contents of your stomach into the bowl. You leaned back against the wall and just sat there for a second, then looked up at the ceiling.. “The ceiling stopped spinning for me. Is it still spinning for you?”
“No,”
“You think we puked it all up?”
“Maybe. Ask me something,”
“Have you ever been in love?”
“Yep. Nancy Wheeler. First semester, senior year,”
You chuckled. “You and Nancy Wheeler. What?”
“Yeah. You know her?”
“Of course I know her. She’s my brother’s best friend’s sister. She’s such a priss,”
“Turns off, not really,”
“Are you still in love with her?”
“No,”
“Why’s that?”
“I think it’s because I found someone who’s a little bit better for me. It’s crazy
It's crazy. Ever since Dustin got home, he's been saying, "You know, you gotta find your Suzie. You gotta find your Suzie."
“Suzie seems like a good kid,”
“So you’ve seen her?”
“Yeah, when I picked him up from camp,”
“This girl, you know the one that I like, it’s somebody that I didn’t even picture myself going for back in high school, but like I said earlier everything that I thought was important back in those days aren’t important at all now. She’s smart. Way smarter than me. Not to mention absolutely gorgeous.  I really wish I would’ve known who she was when I fell for Nancy and maybe, just maybe I wouldn’t have gotten my heart broke,”
You were pretty sure he was talking about Robin because he couldn’t be talking about you. He just met you. He couldn’t possibly be talking about you, could he? “Oh, Steve,’
“Yeah, anyways. Were you in love with Billy?”
You sighed. “Yeah, I was. We knew each other since we were kids and he used to be the sweetest person I knew but he started changing. He started doing drugs and I broke up with him and he promised to get off them, but that only lasted a few weeks then he went straight back on them. He would constantly get in fights and lose his temper, almost killing people and that slowly made me realize that he wasn’t the same sweet kid that I once knew. Then one night, I saw something that made me fall right out of love with him,”
“What was it, if you don’t mind me asking,”
“He was absolutely laying into Max for accidentally breaking something of his. Max was crying her eyes out to the point she started hyperventilating. He rose his hand up to strike her, but Max wasn’t the one who he hit,”
“He hit you,”
“Yeah. He hit me because I got in between them. That night was the night I broke up with him for good. I told his dad, but I don’t really think his dad did anything about it. I never really was around when his dad was around because that man just gave me the absolute creeps,”
You saw Steve’s head pop up into your stall as he scooted his way in and sat up next to you. “I’m sorry you had to go through that,”
You shook your head. “It’s okay. I’m kinda into another guy. I’m just afraid for Max,”
Steve wrapped his arm around the back of your neck and you placed your head on his shoulder. You can’t believe that someone could make you feel the way you feel about Steve within a week.  “I can’t tell you about her home life, but I can for sure tell you that she constantly puts Billy in his place. Max is one feisty little girl. What’s this guy like?”
“Oh, um. He’s I don’t know. I haven’t known him for that long, but he’s just made me feel some sort of way that I hadn’t felt in forever. He’s always down on himself and can’t see just how special he really is and I really wish that he would see that,”
"‘What’s his name?”
You stood up and held out your hand to help him up. He smiled at you before grabbing your hand. “Come, let's wash your face a little bit,”
Steve stood next to you as you turned on the faucet and got it to the perfect temperature. “You didn’t answer the question,”
“I’ll tell you if you tell me,”
“I asked first,”
“And I asked second,”
You gently grabbed his jaw and he placed his hands on your hips, which set your entire body on fire. You tried your best to ignore that feeling as you started to dab gently at the dried blood that was covering his face. Even with the bruises and blood all over his face, he was still handsome. You didn’t look up at him until you were done and when you looked up, you saw that he was looking down at you. “Hi,” He said softly.
“Hi back,”
You and Steve just looked at each other for who knows how long in silence. Your hand was still holding his jaw and his arms were still on your hips. You could still smell the maple and cedarwood mixed between the smell of dried blood and sweat. Your breath hitched as Steve started to lean down so you started to lean up to meet him in the middle. That was when the restroom door came bursting open which sent you two once again separating. “There you two are. What the hell, man?”

16.“ it’s just an innocent kiss. “
21.“Just kiss me once!”
Tumblr media
Just one smooch," you begged, stumbling after Max as she stormed down the sidewalk.
"My god, Y/n. For the last time I told you, no!"
"Just give me something," you pleaded, catching up with her and walking by her side. "A kiss, peck, a little smooch on the lips, anything. I swear, give me the bare minimum and I'll stop asking. That's it, just kiss me once!"
You and Max were well into six months of dating. How was she able to deal with you this past half year? Her nor you had a single clue. Maybe it was your idealistic good looks or your charming personality. Most likely both but for sure it wasn't the fact you could annoy the hell out of her. But let's be honest she would've dumped you if she didnt love it. However she still threatened you weekly on doing so.
"Why are you even so fixated on this?" She questioned, honestly curious. It wasn't till today that you had brought up the current subject. You gave a simple shrug.
"I was watching Somewhere In Time and it sparked my interest." Max eyed you wearily.
"That movies so cheesy."
"Yeah, but it made me realize I want to be that cheesy with you," you stated, stepping in front of Max to stop her in place. You grabbed her hand and laced her fingers in yours. Max bit her lip to conceal her smile. You noticed, a smirk sprouting on your features. Knowing you were getting to her.
"You are so dumb."
"C'mon, honey," you mumbled, taking another step closer towards her. Your shoes brushing the tips of hers. Her eyes grew slightly lidded as a smile broke out on her face. Max placed her arms around your shoulders.
"What do I get in return," she asked.
"Whatever you want." You moved to place your hands on her hips. "Anything you want. I'll do, I swear. Come on Max, it's just an innocent kiss. You don't have to if you don't want to. I can stop bugging, it's just we've been together so long. I just thought we can take a next step in our relationship, y'know?" Max hummed in responce
"Okay." You raised a brow at her blunt answer.
"Okay?" She nodded.
"Okay. Now hurry up before my mind." A breathy laugh passed from your lips to hers. You slowly leaned in. Giving her enough time to pull back if she wanted to.
But when she didn't you took the moment to connect your mouth to hers. You hummed in satisfaction, pulling her closer. She leaned in and you did the same. Taking Max off her feet for a second as a laugh left her lips.
Once planted again the both of you were in giggles. But you cupped her chin, shutting her up with a peck, followed by another. You smiled into her lips.
"See it wasn't so bad, right?"
"Id say it was alright."
"Alright? I think it was pretty damn good." Max let out a snort.
"Sure. Let's go with that."

Max Mayfield was many things. Stubborn, observant, daring, argumentative, and even compassionate. (Depends on the person you ask about that last one) She is headstrong and holds her opinions high on a pedestal.
If you say something that disrespects her or any of the people she confides in you'll more than likely receive a mouthful of curses and insults thrown your way. Max also can be considered sympathetic, varying the situation. Depending on the placement you can find a little red tint on her ears when she receives a praise or compliment.
Max Mayfield is many things. But getting flustered is not one of them.
That's what she herself states anyway.
Max denies any accusation that her cheeks were as red as a tomato when you bat your eyes a certain way in her direction. She doesn't snap her head away when you catch her eye from across the classroom to throw her a wink. Her eyes don't widen when a sly comment comes from your lips.
"What's going on in that pretty head of yours?" A voice broke through Max's daze. Her stare broke from the pencil resting on her desk to the person next to her.
"None of your concern," she practically grumbled, slouching further into her seat. You raised a brow at her snippy comment.
"Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" You lightly teased. Rolling her eyes in response, Max took her writing utensil in hand and focused back on the assignment in front of her. After admiring her profile, you took the time to find the right words to say.
“The boys still being dumb?” you asked, placing your head down onto your crossed arms in an attempt to meet her gaze.
“They’re always dumb,” she quipped back. Chuckling lightly you reached a hand out to tuck a stray hair behind her ear. Not mentioning the way she froze as your fingers brushed her cheek you responded,
“Yeah, you’re right. But that didn't give them a right to react how they did, Max.” Exhaling through her nose Max readied herself to spill the previous day's baggage.
“Of course, I know that. Mike just needed to learn that not everything is going to be given on a pretty pedestal for him. I’m not some dumb little soldier or whatever. He can’t just push me around and tell me what to do all the time. Or the others for that matter. Even El; he just drags her around all the time without getting any say from her at all. And Will, jesus christ, I don’t know if I can handle seeing another sad puppy dog look when he gets turned down. Lucas and Dustin don’t even see a problem with Mike’s new ‘superior’ role that he has given himself. I’m just so sick of everyone saying I’m overreacting, cause I know I’m not. I know Mike’s a good person but this change or metamorphosis thing he’s going through is not going to stand.” Her hands smacked the desk in front of her at the end of her rant. Heads turned in both of your directions but Max just scoffed at them. You hummed letting her take a moment to cool off.
“You’re not overreacting,” you started, “I can tell you that much. The way you handled things yesterday was the right way to do it. Mike does need to be knocked down a few pegs with how big his ego is growing. I think it’s just the fact that we’ve all been friends for so long y’know. And he’s always kinda has been the ‘leader’ of our little group. But it’s never got to the extent that he bosses and pushes the others around. How about this, we meet up with Dustin, Luke, and Will after school to try to explain our point of view, hm? Maybe they’ll be more willing to listen if we all just properly sit down to talk.”
Max bit her lip, her eyes flashing up to meet yours. Wich you were currently staring back at her. Your chin placed into the crook of your elbow, your cheek smooshed lightly. Max cleared her throat and nodded.
“Yeah, that… sounds good.” Again you huffed out a laugh as you straightened your posture.
“Duh, it did. I’m practically an einstein descendant. What were expecting me to say some lame quip?”
A light quirk played on Max’s lips as she shook her head.
“Oh no of course not, never from you,” her tone laced with sarcasm.
“Hey,” you shoved her jokingly as the bell rang. Gathering your things as the other student exited the classroom, you hurried to meet Max who was now waiting at the door. Stepping out into the hallway, kids filtered around you as they passed.
“Could you talk to them? I don’t have any more classes with any of the boys.” You nodded assuringly.
“Of course, Max. Anything for you,” you drawled the last part as she scrunched up her nose. A light blush followed suit. “But seriously, I will. I got Bio next with Will and Luke. Dustin, I got Algebra with so it’s all good. Let’s meet by the flag pole, yeah?” She nodded as you shifted passed her. “Cool, I’ll see you then,” you stated, swiftly putting a kiss on her cheek before she could swat you away. A hand flew to her mouth to hide her smile, her face lighting up once more in a flame.

Max and R watching a horror movie. R is constantly teasing Max about being scared but Max acts all tough and it’s just all really cute and fluffy.

A lurch was felt next to you as a jump scare popped up onto the screen. A few rows ahead of you popcorn flew into the air followed by a muffled yelp.
Snorting to yourself you looked to your left to see a hand gripping on to your shared arm of the theater seats. The screen lights illuminated the red heads white knuckles as she pushed herself back into the cushions. Max's expression read pure fear.
Muffling a laugh at her terrified face, you placed a comforting palm over Max's wrist. Instantly she snapped her head to your direction. With the most upheld sympathetic expression you could muster, you squeezed her forearm gently
"Do you want to hold my hand?" You asked. Max almost fell for the caring act but the teasing glint in your eyes exposed everything. A scowl grew on her features while she snatched her hand away.
"No," her response was a simple but forceful answer.
"Are you sure?" You whispered. She rolled her eyes.
"Yes, I'm sure," she stated in a sarcastic tone. Somebody in the row behind you shushed at her loud town and Max quickly looked back at them and threw them the bird.
Suspenseful music filled the room as she turned back around. The sight of a frighten girl hiding took over the screen. Out of the corner of her eye Max could see you grabbing a fistful of popcorn into your hold. Her gaze went back back to the movie.
And running to a random bedroom she went. Without closing or locking the door behind her she nearly slipped on the wooden floors. Frantically looking around she searched for some sort of escape. Going to the window it wouldn't budge. An alternate solution didn't seem possibly as the killers mask took over the illumination. He slowly opened each door. Max tensed as he grew closer to the open room.
Once he did enter the girl was no where in sight. That was until it cut to a shot of her under the bed. No box spring between her and the mattress of course. Heavy foot falls sounded through the quiet theater. Everyone was on the edge of their seats as they waited for the result. The suspense was deafening. The boots of the masked man walked so close to the girls face she could reach out and touch them. He stopped at the foot of the bed. Listening intently he searched for any sign of movement, from the closet or some basket possibly.
With a hand over her mouth the woman squeezed her eyes shut. Most likely hoping and praying the killed would just leave.
And he seemily did.
However Max screeched as a long blade was plunged into the mattress. Making the girls body still and causing blood to spill everywhere. Horrible sounds and loud music bounced off the walls.
Max had reached into your lap. Gripping into you hand for dear life like it was her life line. Giggling was heard next to her and Max looked over to you. A smirk was plastered onto your face.
"Shut up," she grumbled, bringing your conjoined hands onto the arm once more
"I didn't say anything," you defended.
"I can just here what your thinking. Stop thinking it."
"Thinking what? That the big bad Max Mayfield is a baby when it comes to horror movies?"
"I am not a baby-"
"Shhhh." Max snapped her head around, getting ready to stand up.
"How about I teach you how to shush-"

57. “it’s your turn to do the dishes.” “let’s get a divorce.” “we aren’t married yet, my love.” “well we sure as hell aren’t getting married now.”

You grabbed the remaining plates and dishes that were scattered across the table and brought them to the kitchen. Setting them in the sink and rinsing them quickly. When you returned back to the dining room you were met with the sight of Max slouching in her chair, a hand placed on her stomach. A groan left her lips as she continued to slide down the woods. Maybe just maybe she shouldn't have ate that extra plate of lasagna.
A chuckle left your lips as your rested a hand on the table, leaning into it.
"It's your turn to do the dishes," you informed, tossing a dish rag at her. She gave you a rather offended expression, letting the cloth fall to the floor without a second glance.
"You think I can do that in my condition? Let's get a divorce." You let out a snort.
"We aren't married yet, my love."
"Well we sure as hell aren't getting married now. I'll take the ring back." You hummed in response, rather amused.
"You sure you want to?" Max pursed her lips pretending to think about it
"Probably not, but I don't know if I can live with a lover who makes me do hard labor when I'm physically struggling."
"And want are you physically struggling with?" You questioned, approaching her, placing both hands on either arm of her chair, traping her.
"I'm pregnant. Are you really gonna make a pregnant woman get up and make her do work?" Your eyes widened in fake shock.
"You are? Do you know what youre having?"
"A food baby," she stated, slapping her stomach lightly. You through your head back in laughter. Max admired your smile and let out a chuckle as well. Placing her own hands on your hips and pulling you down to rest on her lap.
*Carful don't want to crush the food baby," you warned. Max shrugged jokingly.
"Meh, I didn't really want a kid right now anyways, got other things focused on my mind," she mumbled, grabbing your hand and admiring the ring on your finger. You followed her eyes as she scanned over it.
"You picked out a good one," you stated. Max scoffed.
"Well, of course I did. You think I'd get anything but the best for you?" You beamed at her shaking your head.
"Only the best from you," you whispered against her lips. She leaned forward connecting yours to hers. Slowly your mouths moved together. You hummed gently against her. Pulling away she scanned your features with a loving stare.
"You deserve the best," she murmured, admiring your eyes. You cupped her face and traced her cheeks as her thumbs rubbed your sides gently.
"This isn't going to get you out of doing the dishes I hope you know. It is your tur-"
"I take back everything I just said."
"Max!"
"Do them with me and I'll forgive you."
"Forgive me?"
"Yes, you're highly offending me right now."
"Oh my gosh-"
"Join me "
"Fine! Fine! You wash, I'll dry, deal?"
"Deal."
