so I did some reading on the Unity debacle and decided to make a short summary/review.
In case you haven't heard, Unity has announced a new way of charging devs for the use of their platform, in which devs could be charged a small fee for every time a user installs the game. This applies to games that have more than $200k yearly revenue and 200k lifetime downloads, and it would start counting at the beginning of next year. It's being received by devs as a major breach of trust and a reason to abandon unity altogether. The most egregious aspects of the change are:
1 - The fee will add an extra cost to games and projects that already had their costs planned for and paid for. For some games, this could mean that the whole project becomes untenable, but if the game is already in development or even already published, the devs can't do anything about it. It's like "oh shit, this game was planned to pay for itself but now it will not only not do that as it might also cost us money for years to come"
2- the change is sudden enough that devs that subscribe to Unity Pro and above can't even change their contracts with unity before it starts applying.
3- The charge is a fixed value per install, regardless of how big the game is or how much it costs. A game that costs $20 to buy has the same fee as a $1 game or a free game. This obviously unfairly punishes small games and free games and also discourages devs from trying to reach a wider audience.
4- Devs don't actually control installs, so this added cost would be not only unpredictable but completely out of control of the paying party, unless everyone starts adding DRM-like limitations to their games.
5- When asked how the installs will be counted, Unity answered basically "through secret proprietary means". So Unity wants basically tell devs what they owe with no oversight, and devs are supposed to accept it.
I'm baffled that any of this could possibly be considered legal.

Button Gauge
Do you have a project that you have no button guidelines? Or perhaps you need to change the number of buttons or their placement? Are you bad at math? The button gauge is the tool for you!
All the button points are equidistant from each other, and when you open it the points REMAIN equidistant. It's like magic. I already have the top and bottom my button placements marked beneath the button gauge with pins.
My gauge has little gaps for you to draw your buttonhole guides with a chalk pencil. I went back and drew a 1 in. guide from the edge of my garment to ensure everything would be lined up.
Then I just installed the buttonholes with the buttonhole foot that came with my machine. It's a nifty little tool that makes the task of button placement super easy! You do need to be gentle with it. Mine is cheap and flimsy, so it gets "out of sorts" if I open it too quickly and the top and bottom most points become unaligned. This is easy to fix by just closing and reopening the gauge.

Since Anatomist is over a Billion years, how old is The Collector in your Au?
Could we possibly see more of Anatomist's old friends?
Any Dinosaurs in the archives? 🥺
For the approximate ages I'm going with, Collector would be bit under a bilion Anatomist few bilions. Similarly to the universe celestial beings age very slowly, they arent biological creatures or really function exactly like mortals. For context the Universe is ~13,8*10^9 years old, Milky Way is ~13,2*10^9, Solar System is ~4,6*10^9 and the Earth ~4,5*10^9
Yes Im aware of study of universe being 26*10^9 but the official sources are still on 13 aaaaand its what I had on astronomy classes so thats the one Im going with
From back before the star children witnessed the extinction that kickstarted the first archive and everyone split to cover their own expanding area. They all considered themselves siblings mostly not carring individual names, exploring the galaxies but coming back to one of the only planets that were evolved enough to support intelligent life. The culture of the dominant species included dealing with weird eldritch children being around them, and for the most part, they were pretty pleasant. Some making places where the tiny horrors could stay before running into the void again
Or at least some that are pretty simillar, with infinite worlds i can imagine there were more dinos or dino like animals. A while ago I made comic with Collector and raptor they released

trick or treat!!!
fuck it, more stoat facts.
Stoats can run up to 20 miles per hour.
Jaysohn, the fastest of our lovely little killers, has a speed of 40, which, assuming 1 round of combat is 6 seconds, puts him at about 4.5 miles per hour. To get to 20 miles an hour, you need a movement of 175.
I don't have the time right now to deep dive into how much bullshit it would take to get him there, but if anyone wants to theorycraft that, please please please do so and let me know what you come up with.

wait wouldn’t it be 117kg * 1000 = 117,000g, which multiplies by 5 to be 585,000? still a lot of calories but definitely not 1.3 million
Hangon let me run the math through a calculator again, I may have messed up in a conversion step
(Re: I have dyscalculia. When I make my full guides I actually have several people check the math in those, but these asks I just answer with my own spit and gristle)
Adult female boar = 120 kg = 120,000g x 5 = 600,000 calories
woops
Adult MALE boar, at 200 kg, is 1 million but yeah I bungled a conversion between imperial and metric

I like how an acceptable way to solve something in my math class is to write magic runes into the paper while chanting calzone. My math teacher doesn't understand why it works but it always gets the right answer so why stop me.
Most times I just use the machine as it works just as well! But when we aren't allowed to use the machines I break out the runes and chant as I write them. I then am the first one with an answer!

speaking of PTerry tho idk if this was by design, but the really really cool thing about trolls being in a base four number system is the fact that they're probably automatically pretty chill (lol) with complex numbers
because if you multiply i's they cycle in powers of 4
i is √(-1)
i x i is (√(-1))^2 = -1
i x i x i is -1 x i = -i
i x i x i x i is (-1)(-1) = 1
and then i x i x i x i x i just restarts the cycle at i
I mean there's no guarantee that rock trolls are on speaking terms with complex numbers but seriously imagine coming back to the meat futures warehouse and seeing your buddy literally doing shit that only kings do, that's pretty fascinating

so a couple weeks ago i was in math class, trying not to cry , cause i was listening to "the end?" (David Arnold (Good Omens 2 soundtrack)) and i forgot i had my playlist on shuffle play and I'm legit about to cry, when the song ends and this shit starts playing:
*major headphone warning*
