Books similar to The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood:
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett and Extasia by Claire Legrand are both distopyas dense of religious fanatism and women's segregation, in which sexism and sexual prejudice are associated with various aspects of religion (e.g. belief, faith, and fundamentalism). This novel shows also how higher religious fundamentalism is associated with internalized misogyny and passive acceptance of traditional gender roles, and both hostile and benevolent sexism.
In The Grace Year the stereotype of a women as source of sin was laid down by the dominant religious authorities before the inception of widespread violence led by women against women, but after all the violence and blood, women learn the importance of sorority, female friendship and start to support and help each others.
The main source of conflicts are ribbons, which, in The Grace Year, are the sign of a women lifestage and the bride's ribbon is a valued price among most of the girls of the age of Tierney, the protagonist. The bride ribbons create a competition between girls to get bachelor’s attention, self-objectification, and humiliation toward each others. Although the competition eventually destroys most of them, this characteristic offers pleasure to those who survived their Grace Year. Tierney learns to survive on her own, learns that the religious values she was thought were wrong and learns also to appreciate her peer's friendship.
Extasia adds witchcraft and supernatural elements, but the main character (Amity) believes deeply in social conservatism—Amity has a preference for stability, conformity and the status quo— which is often a key trait of the religious experience, but also betrays deep feeling of self-hate.
In Extasia, the very patriarchal structures that decry witchcraft – the Puritan church in which the characters lives in and escapes from, the male headship to which the community so desperately cling, the insistence, in the face of repeated violence, on the sin of her mother – are the same structures that inevitably foreclose the options of the lead character, Amity.
To this two, I will mention also The Year Of The Witching by Alexis Henderson. In this novel, Immanuelle, a young woman living in a rigid, puritanical society, discovers dark powers within herself. This book is very similar to Extasia, but not such as good: Amity character is way more believable than Immanuelle and shows way more comprehension of the injustices committed in the name of the religion. The cult in Extasia contains more original elements and believing than the one in The Year Of The Witching, which seems more a copy-paste of mormon radical close-communities, including the elements of racial prejudice. Both Immanuelle and Amity live in the disdain of their own community because of the sins committed by their mother, which were both punished for their love affairs, but when Amity is a girl-of-action and actively search for mercy and witchcraft, Immanuelle is cursed - literally - by passivity and events occurs without her active consents, including the defection of the evil antagonist. Also, female friendship doesn't take place among the main themes and the book suffer a lot of the male love-interest help.
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett

No one speaks of the grace year. It’s forbidden.
In Garner County, girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, to drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That’s why they’re banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.
Sixteen-year-old Tierney James dreams of a better life—a society that doesn’t pit friend against friend or woman against woman, but as her own grace year draws near, she quickly realizes that it’s not just the brutal elements they must fear. It’s not even the poachers in the woods, men who are waiting for a chance to grab one of the girls in order to make a fortune on the black market. Their greatest threat may very well be each other.
With sharp prose and gritty realism, The Grace Year examines the complex and sometimes twisted relationships between girls, the women they eventually become, and the difficult decisions they make in-between.
Extasia by Claire Legrand

Her name is unimportant.
All you must know is that today she will become one of the four saints of Haven. The elders will mark her and place the red hood on her head. With her sisters, she will stand against the evil power that lives beneath the black mountain--an evil which has already killed nine of her village's men.
She will tell no one of the white-eyed beasts that follow her. Or the faceless gray women tall as houses. Or the girls she saw kissing in the elm grove.
Today she will be a saint of Haven. She will rid her family of her mother's shame at last and save her people from destruction. She is not afraid. Are you?
The Year Of The Witching by Alexis Henderson

In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet’s word is law, Immanuelle Moore’s very existence is blasphemy. Her mother’s union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches. Their spirits are still lurking there, and they bestow a gift on Immanuelle: the journal of her dead mother, who Immanuelle is shocked to learn once sought sanctuary in the wood. Fascinated by the secrets in the diary, Immanuelle finds herself struggling to understand how her mother could have consorted with the witches. But when she begins to learn grim truths about the Church and its history, she realizes the true threat to Bethel is its own darkness. And she starts to understand that if Bethel is to change, it must begin with her.

Harry and the Hendersons (1987)
Tumblr media
I’ve had some bad experiences with Bigfoot movies. I remember enjoying Abominable, which is basically Rear Window with a Skunk Ape. Sasquatch, with Lance Henriksen is so bad you’re better off forgetting it. Most examples of the "genre" either fall into the offensive category. At best you'll get something so bad it's good again (I recommend Nightclaws if that’s what you’re looking for). After all these horror movies, it was a surprise to find a gentle, family friendly and charming Abominable Snowman film in the form of Harry and the Hendersons even more surprising is that it's good!
While on a family hunting/camping trip, the Hendersons – father George (John Lithgow), mother Nancy (Melinda Dillon) and their two children Sarah (Margaret Langrick) and Ernie (Joshua Rudoy) – hit a Sasquatch with their car. Unaware that it’s merely knocked out, they strap it to the roof of their vehicle and bring it home.
Created by Rick Baker, “Harry” is a marvellous special effect. You can’t tell whether it’s someone in a suit and makeup or an elaborate electronic. I’m sure it’s a mixture of both but the creature’s movements, its facial expressions, the way it’s shot make it completely convincing. If I didn’t know any better, I’d swear they actually had a Sasquatch on-screen.
This is not a frightening film at all, but if you’re looking to make one, you’ve got to see the way director William Dear handles Harry. You are slowly teased the design. As the Hendersons peer over what they think is a carcass that would send any cryptozoologist into an ocean of ectasy, you see just enough to wet your appetite. You’ll be on your tiptoes trying to peer over the edge of your TV to see Harry’s face and when they finally show the creature in its full glory, you’re blown away. The special effects give Harry a wonderfully expressive face that conveys emotions you instantly relate to. Even without any dialogue, Harry becomes an instantly lovable entity.
The film also features a surprisingly strong character arc for John Lithgow’s character, George. A run-of-the-mill picture would have an obvious change that goes something like this: at first, he doesn’t like Harry. Maybe he wants to kill, or sell the creature for money. By the end, he’d consider Harry a friend or a member of the family. In Harry and the Hendersons, the character is deeper than that. We learn about George's relationship with his father (M. Emmet Walsh), what made him the man he is today and where he’ll go in the future. John Lithgow is a great actor and it’s satisfying to see that he isn’t simply walking around in a dumb role while shenanigans happen around the house. There’s a moment where he spends time drawing a promotional poster for his father’s store and the way that plays out hit a strong cord with me.
There are plenty of laughs and warm emotions found throughout the film. Even the villains are not really that bad and the conclusion resists the obvious, lame decisions we often see in children’s films. Instead, it opts for the right choice and pursues the tone it’s had throughout all the way through.
I’m not going to call the picture a classic. You can’t help but compare the film to E.T. and this just isn't on that same level. Some of the characters are dropped halfway through and not all of the jokes work… but that’s ok. It's the perfect pick for a family movie night that includes both the young and the old. 'I WAS A CHILD!' the sound cutting through the dining room, all conversation ceased. Steve's voice was furious, and filled with a fury that nobody had ever heard from him. The Hopper-Byers house was full, the Christmas party had been in full swing. The Sinclair's, the Henderson's, the Munson's, the Wheeler's, as well as Robin Buckley and Steve Harrington had spent the day here having a great time. At some point right before dinner Steve's parents, Richard and Margaret Harrington, had surprised them all by showing up unannounced. Steve had barely interacted with them at all.
The younger kids had moved into a different room as the conversation between the adults had turned to their kids and their childhoods. Joyce had mentioned Jonathon's favorite toy had been a red firetruck, and it had broken when Will was two. She had been so pleased to talk about her fond memories. Margaret Harrington had mentioned that Steve's favorite toy had been a stuffed tiger and her husband had smiled and told them proudly that he had 'gotten rid of it'. And the two Harrington parents talked about the three toys Steve had been given as a child that had mysteriously vanished when he was four as punishment, while the other parents had looked uncomfortable and tried to change the topic. Steve had been quiet but the anger was mounting. And suddenly it was too much, and the words he had been holding back burst out of him.
'Are you going to include the part where you beat my ass so bad I couldn't sit for three days? Or the part where you forced me to watch as my only toys were burned? Or the part where you smacked me because I was crying? Is that also included in this fond nostalgia?' his voice was cold.
Richard Harrington floundered for a second, 'well son you had to be taught manners.' he started to say. 'It was-'
But Steve interjected, 'I WAS A CHILD!' he yelled. 'too young to understand why my toys were taken away. Too small to fight back! Too little to understand why my parents were taking away my presents! But that doesn't matter does it? So long as I was a perfect, quiet, obedient childlike doll for you to show off.' He stood up. He glared at his parents, 'Sometimes I wish you had aborted me before I was born. I wish you had thought about abandoning a child would do to it, about what smacking and hitting and freezing out your child would do. But instead I had to pretend to be fine. Never telling anyone because Harringtons don't have emotions and don't cry.' he mocked. 'just stay the fuck away from me.' He walked out of the room and out of the house before either parent could say anything more.
Steve got into his car and drove off. Speeding as fast as he could away from the house.
Once he was gone, Sue Sinclair looked at the Harrington's, in a tone so cold she stated, 'I don't find it funny or cute to beat my children. Especially if they were that young.' Her eyes held a burning rage that nobody had seen before, 'I hope that boy is ok. But you best stay away from him. That's my kid's older brother you were talking about.' Margaret Harrington suddenly realized what they had been talking about and before anymore could be said she grabbed her husband's arm and tried to get him out of the house.
But Hopper's voice, emotionless, stopped her dead in her tracks, 'anything else you want to add? Maybe the part where you left him alone for months and weeks at a time when he was younger? Maybe more about beating him? I, for one, am curious what else you can be put in prison for, being as I am the police chief.' Richard Harrington's face went white. And he stuttered out an awkward reply and the Harrington's left the house.
Eddie waited until they were both gone, he grabbed his keys and slipped out with Nancy, Argyle, Robin, and Jonathan. They drove around in silence, looking for him. As they drove past the quarry, they saw his car parked, but it was empty. They parked beside his car and carefully walked around the area and found him sitting on the ledge, watching the water, fave blank but his eyes were red-rimmed and puffy like he'd been crying.
Robin took the first step towards him and sat down beside him. None of them spoke, nothing needed to be said.
Maybe it won't get better anytime soon. But for now he had his family around him. His actual family. It was Christmas, he'd be ok sometime soon. He slumped against Robin and Eddie, letting his eyes slide shut.

June 30th, 1914, was the final day of a goodwill visit by the Royal Navy to Kiel, Germany’s principal Baltic naval base, having arrived on June 23rd. The squadron included battleships Ajax, King George V, Audacious, and several light cruisers.
The Kaiser paraded in his Royal Navy Admiral’s uniform (a title courtesy of Queen Victoria), and British and German sailors mingled and entertained each other drinking, dancing and boxing. It was reported that the assassinations of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Countess Sophie Chotek, in Sarajevo, dampened the joyous mood a little, but did not ultimately undermine what was described by an American correspondent as an 'Anglo German love-feast’.
Not everyone was totally caught up in the festivities. A senior RN officer, Captain Henderson, found an imaginative way to report on the state of Germany’s naval preparedness, and that Britain's dominance of the high seas was under significant threat.
"...I think it would not be out of place here, to call your attention to the striking progress made by the German Navy in sports and games. Speaking generally, our men were entirely outclassed in all the usual sports, running, jumping, and in the tug-of war, the Germans simply walked away with it. The Germans have systematically invaded what we have hitherto regarded as our natural preserve…the world of sport..."
As the RN squadron departed, a German Admiral sent, 'Best wishes for a pleasant journey’, to which the British commanding officer responded with thanks and the reply, 'Comrades in the past, and always'.

Wrong On The Money (55)
part 55 of 55 | 1784 words | Teen+
Blackmail fic on Ao3 | on tumblr
Summary:
It’s easy to decide on a plan of action this time, no nerd dice required. And Steve is ready, but he’s. . . . He’s nervous, okay?
The final chapter!
I know there was some excitement about a potential trip to NYC to visit Margaret, but because of the title it was always destined to end here. Please remember to insert your own ba-dum-tss sound effect at the punchline. Thanks for reading! ❤️
55.
The night before pulling the trigger on telling Dustin, Eddie takes his mind off it by suggesting they watch a baseball game with Wayne, and it’s . . . it’s good. Eddie clearly has very little idea of the finer points of the game, but he cuddles indulgently into Steve’s side and listens to their additions to the announcers’ commentary with good grace. When their beers or snacks run low he pops up to get the next round, letting them keep watching.
After the game, Steve loops an arm around him with a grin. “Hey, if I put up a hoop over the garage, would you play a pickup game with me sometime?”
Eddie hums, leaning into him and pretending to think about it. “Well, you played D&D with me, so . . . sure.”
“Yeah?” Steve can’t help his grin growing wider. They might not have many interests in common, but that doesn’t mean they can’t dip into each other's from time to time.
“Yep.” Eddie turns, nudging the tips of their noses together. “It’ll be at your own risk, though. I am not coordinated enough for sports.”
“It’s true,” Wayne comments from his easy chair—making both of them jump a little, having forgotten he was in the room. “Thought he might grow out of that all-elbows and big feet stage at some point, but nah.”
Steve laughs, delighted by the novel feeling of family affectionately giving each other shit that is slowly becoming more familiar. (The closest he’s come to it before moving in here was Dustin teasing him for being vain about his hair.) This is good too, like a warm blanket enveloping him into being a part of something. “Don’t worry, I saw him in gym class. I know what I’m in for.”
“Oh, both of you can just—” Eddie wriggles free to flip both of them off while sticking his tongue out, then grabs Steve’s wrist to haul him up and towards the privacy of one of their rooms.
It’s easy to decide on a plan of action this time, no nerd dice required. And Steve is ready, but he’s. . . .
He’s nervous, okay?
He knows that he and Eddie don’t have all that much in common at a glance. They don’t like the same music—although Black Sabbath and Dio are growing on him, and Eddie is more flexible than he expected for someone who complains about “top forty shit” so often. They come from opposite sides of town and totally different upbringings. They’re the quintessential coiffed jock versus the ultimate scruffy nerd. Robin knows Steve’s weird side well enough not to question any of that, and she’d seen their chemistry well before Steve thought he might stand a chance, but does Dustin?
Maybe. Hopefully. Either way, Steve is ready for it to all be out in the open.
“Ready for ice cream, buddy?” Steve calls as Dustin slides into the back seat, Eddie having already snagged shotgun privileges. He has, however, graciously stopped head banging and turned the radio down so they can all hear their own thoughts.
Dustin leans forward between their seats with an unimpressed look. “Yeah. Why are you being weird? Why didn’t you tell me Eddie was c—Why are you wearing that?”
Eddie lets out an exaggerated sigh and wriggles out of the navy blue Melvald’s shirt he has on over a white tee, tossing it at Dustin’s head. “It’s called legal employment, Henderson. It’s something that some of us are forced to obtain by local law enforcement.”
“Hey! Your name tag chipped my tooth,” Dustin protests.
“No it didn’t,” Steve retorts, holding back a laugh.
“Well it could have.”
“Yeah yeah, sad story. Now click it or I’ll kick it. . . . Meaning your ass. Out of the car.” He meets the teen’s eyes in the rear-view mirror and rolls his own at the pouty glare. “Seat belt, Henderson, jeez!”
“Oh my god you are so lame,” Dustin mutters, shaking his head, but he sits back and buckles his seat belt.
As soon as he hears the click, Steve puts the car in gear and glides out of the Henderson’s driveway. It’s not a long drive, just to the Dairy Queen a few minutes away.
“He can be trained after all,” Eddie remarks, still fussing with his clothes to get his plain white t-shirt untucked from his remarkably unripped jeans. Steve catches a flash of his stomach amidst the struggle and has to remind himself to keep both eyes on the road, looking away with what he knows is a dumb smile on his face. “And to answer your question, dearest Dusty-Bun—
“Only Suzie gets to call me that. Who told you about that?”
“—I’m tagging along because, in honor of my first honest paycheck, I’m buying.”
“Didn't you used to work at that tire place?”
Eddie sighs, even more put upon than the first time, and casts Steve a look that speaks volume about tone. Still smiling, Steve responds with a what’re you gonna do shrug. His boyfriend reacts by snorting and sticking out his tongue at him.
“You’re getting the small cone, Dusty-Bun,” Eddie declares, slouching down in his seat and pouting theatrically at both of them. “And no chocolate sauce.”
Dustin rolls his eyes; Steve catches their epic journey in his rear-view. “Whatever,” he says, knowing that Eddie is full of shit and will let him order whatever he wants (within reason). “Anyway, I wasn’t even talking to you. Steve, why are you wearing this?” And he reaches around to pluck at Steve’s vest.
Which is not his Family Video vest, because he has today off. It’s the denim vest—a battle vest he has since learned, which seems both over-dramatic and weirdly fitting—that Eddie had thrown at him in the Upside Down.
It had been Eddie's idea to wear it today. The second he'd realized that it hadn't been lost somewhere in the stolen RV or in the Upside Down, he was clamoring to see it on Steve. (And then off of him again. That had been a good night.)
“Oh, you like it?” Steve asks innocently. He had tried to offer the vest back, after doing his best to get all the bloodstains out. Eddie's refusal had included an explanation of what giving such a heavily personalized article of metalhead garb to someone meant. (A very good night.)
Since Dustin is also familiar with its significance, they figured it would be a good lead-in.
“Steve,” Dustin starts, in what Steve recognizes as his do you need to be told everything tone—then stops himself and cuts his gaze across to Eddie.
Eddie, still slouched but smirking now, makes an elaborate go right ahead gesture.
Dustin’s eyes go wide as dinner plates. “Holy shit,” he breathes, looking back and forth between the two of them several times. “Really? Are you?!”
And even though Steve doesn’t have a bead on whether this is a good reaction or not, he lets himself borrow and coast on some of Eddie’s confidence. He puts on a matching smirk and says, “Yeah, man.”
It’s not that he expects Dustin to be disgusted or anything, it’s. . . . Well, he could. It’s possible. Probably not likely, but possible.
There’s a pause while Dustin draws breath, and it feels both way longer and way shorter than it actually is. What if he doesn’t believe them, or doesn’t take it as seriously as he would’ve if Steve were introducing a new girlfriend?
“I knew it,” Dustin whoops, pumping a fist in victory. (Steve recognizes it, because he does that whenever he throws something in a trash can and sinks the shot. He gets a perplexed little rush from the recognition.) “I knew you two would get along if you just gave each other a chance!”
“Uh.” Eddie twists around in his seat to stare at the teen. He’d been so confident before about knowing how Dustin would take the news, but evidently he hadn’t expected him to say that, his jaw dropping in disbelief. “Are you . . . trying to call matchmaker here? Is that what’s happening?”
“Yeah, because I told you. I told both of you!”
“You did not call it,” Eddie says indignantly, and Steve would chime in to agree here but he’s kinda still busy driving the car. “You absolutely did not call my junk getting that friendly with his—”
“Woah woah woah, time out,” Steve interrupts, because screw being too busy driving, that is too much information. “Reel it back in, man.”
Eddie points at him, eyes still on Dustin, intent on making his point. “Is not what he said last night.”
Dustin makes a face. “Gross, you’re both like my older brothers, dude.”
“Well one of us is an in-law!” Eddie insists.
Steve looks briefly skyward with a muttered, “Jesus H. Christ.”
But he can’t help but grin, because this is going well. He’s pretty sure Dustin would react the exact same way if it was him and Robin dating. (Which, huh. Just thinking about that is enough to make him want to make a face because that would be weird.)
It’s also going chaotically, which, yeah. Dustin is a dork and Eddie thrives on chaos, no big surprises there. He feels so fond of both of them in this moment, even though the actual content of the conversation is ridiculous. Everything is going to be fine.
The Upside Down is permanently locked away, there’s no more danger, Steve gets Eddie, and everything is going to be fine.
“For fuck’s sake,” Dustin is saying, “I was right. Ugh, when will you guys finally admit that I’m always right on the money with this shit and just give me credit for your relationship? Give me a date if you have to, I’ll pencil it in on my mom’s Cats Galore calendar for future reference.”
For a second, Steve’s gaze meets Eddie’s. Maybe it’s the haughtiness of their younger friend’s tone; maybe it’s the mention of money on top of their ridiculous history with the stuff. Whatever it is, it’s enough to send them both into a laughing fit so intense that Steve is lucky the next turn-off is straight into the Dairy Queen parking lot.
Wayne thinks they’re good together. Robin is cooling down about what Eddie had done to be happy for Steve again. Dustin is fine with their relationship, even wants credit. . . . Those are the three out of four people in the world it would crush Steve the most to disappoint.
Eddie’s warm brown eyes are warm and fixed on him as he turns the car off and plucks the keys from the ignition, and Steve is finally, for the first time since 1983, finally able to relax . . . just in time for celebratory ice cream.

March 14th 1900 saw the birth of Scottish lawyer, Dame Margaret Kidd.
Margaret Henderson Kidd was a KC and a QC and during an eminent legal career, she racked up a number of pioneering ‘female firsts’ in what was then an entirely male dominated environment. Margaret became the first feminine member of the Scottish Bar in 1923, and uniquely, until 1948, she was its only female advocate. Margaret was also the first female lawyer to plead before the House of Lords and before a Select Committee of the House of Commons. In addition and significantly, Margaret became the first woman to become a King's Counsel in the United Kingdom. Furthermore, she was the first woman to officially occupy the post of Sheriff Principal for Dumfries and Galloway.
Kidd passed away on 22 March 1989 in Cambridge. A funeral service was held at the Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh. A eulogy by Lord Hope of Craighead concluded:
‘Her success was won by strength of character, courage and integrity and is a mark of her true qualities that, despite what might seem to be the revolutionary nature of her achievements, she always held the affection and respect of others.’

꧁ hello! ꧂
amy ᝰ ❧ scorpio sun and moon, she/they, grey-ace, 30s
i support liverpool f.c. and mostly write about domitrent on ao3.
i have a ph.d. in english literature, specializing in science fiction, but i really only write for fun these days.
other interests include: kate bush (queen of my heart), goth and post punk music/subculture, horror and sci-fi films, jane austen, mary shelley (i am always ready to bring frankenstein into any conversation), orphan black, star trek, studio ghibli, and more.
a masterlist of my fics and other scribblings are below the cut! a gentle reminder that i do not take requests for fics; however, headcanons are welcome and my askbox is open!
Tumblr media
you can find most of my fics on archive of our own (ao3). some may be archive-locked (only viewable to users who are logged in on ao3). fics are sorted by type, ship/pairing, and then alphabetically listed within each category (for the most part). ratings are indicated in parentheses next to each title. if you are under the age of 18, please do not interact with any mature/explicit fics. full list of tags and any potential content warnings are available on ao3. masterlist to be updated periodically.

꧁DOMITRENT꧂ (dominik szoboszlai/trent alexander arnold)
dream come true (M, eventually E) 𝔰𝔱𝔞𝔱𝔲𝔰 ➾ [work in progress]
→ Dominik, whose dreams of becoming a professional football player ended years ago due to injury, has dedicated himself to a new passion: physiotherapy. After moving to Liverpool to complete his studies, he meets Trent, a local lad whose dream of playing in the first team is about to come true. But what if, in meeting one another, their dreams become intertwined?
⟡ by chapter: chapter one: skull and bones | chapter two: skeletons and secrets | chapter three: start of something | chapter four: sweet as sugar | chapter five: stay with me | chapter six: stuck on you | chapter seven: suddenly everything changes
Tumblr media
꧁HENDOLLANA꧂ (jordan henderson/adam lallana)
borne in red (E; dubcon) → In a world where men have been discovered to be infertile, the few men who are not sterile are forced into service of Captains and their Wives. Adam Lallana is one of these "studs," also known as Reds. He is also, dangerously, in love with men. Over a course of Ceremonies, he discovers that his Captain has a secret, and that his proclivities may be indeed similar to Adam's own desires…
A Hendollana AU based on Margaret Atwood's novel, The Handmaid's Tale.
⟡ by chapter: chapter one: waiting | chapter two: discovering | chapter three: being | chapter four: waiting | chapter five: coda
Tumblr media
꧁DOMITRENT꧂ (dominik szoboszlai/trent alexander arnold)
we lit the fire and it's burning bright (E) → After the Liverpool vs Manchester City game (where Trent scores the equaliser), Dom takes Trent back to his apartment and proceeds to take him apart with his hands and lips.
working on the riddle of your heart (E) → Dominik can’t stop thinking about Trent. Ever since pre-season training, he has been obsessed. God, Dominik wants to be possessed by Trent.
you're out there killing the game (E) → Trent gets his arse out for all to see, but Dom wants it to be just his.
Tumblr media
꧁CARRAVILLE꧂ (jamie carragher/gary neville)
gary knows; or, gary the fool in liverpool (T) → Liverpool’s lost the league, and Gary’s lost his damn mind.
a christmas carraville (merry crimbo, ye big lug) (G) → God I love him, but my husband is an idiot, Jamie thinks. In which Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher are married, but Gary doesn't know it yet.
champagne supernova (happy new year, ye tosser) (T) → It's New Year's Eve, and all Carra can think about is whether a certain Manc will kiss him at midnight. Maybe a little liquid courage will help light the way.
package deal (it's valentine's day, ye dimwit) (E) → Gary's got a Valentine’s date with an idiot.
Tumblr media
꧁GERLONSO꧂ (steven gerrard/xabi alonso)
days of legends past (G) → "When you left, it broke my heart." Three vignettes related to various and sundry myths and legends.
Tumblr media
꧁HENDOLLANA꧂ (jordan henderson/adam lallana)

hounds of love (G; archive-locked) → Jordan's not sure what his soulmark will be yet, but what he does know is that he's terrified. A slow-burn soulmate AU.
merry to go 'round (G; archive-locked) → The lads buy a house together at the end of the 2026 World Cup campaign, and not a single one of their teammates (former teammates now) are surprised.
soft lad (E; archive-locked) → Five-hundred twenty-five thousand six-hundred minutes… it took a span of two pre-seasons for Hendo to realize that he was in love.
vignettes: tickertape (G; archive-locked) → After the trophy lift, Hendo searches for a tangible piece of memory…
vignettes: turf (G; archive-locked) → Lallana leaving LFC, but choosing a certain squad number for familiarity…
Tumblr media
꧁OTHER SHIPS꧂
put myself on a pedestal - virgil van dijk/jarell quansah (E) → After the Union Saint-Gilloise match, Jarell says some things to the press that perhaps ought not to have been said. It's Virgil's job to educate him. But perhaps there are things that Virgil also ought not to say out loud… Then, Jarell comes over to his house one night after training, and Virgil finds a more effective way to stop Jarell from saying stupid things.
eu sou... - eric dier/dele alli (G; archive-locked) → Dele is um idiota but so is Eric. Pining ensues. footballers watch: eurovision 2019 - multi-ship (G; archive-locked) → What it says on the tin. [Pairings include: Carraville, Hendollana, Gerlonso, Deledier, and other random cameos.]
