I made a vest from some thrifted jeans, t'was lots of fun! Also googly eye buttons.
Next I'm planning to add pockets and decorations and such, but still working out exactly what sort. Possibly something drawing inspiration from punk battle jackets, but with a silly twist to it?
Some handspun glitter yarn I made. This is before plying it together to make it thicker and stronger!
Currently it's being knit up as part of a holiday sweater that I've been piecing together on and off. I will be so happy to share it when it's done and I can cozy up in it! I lost some steam, but the thought of having a colorful sweater that sparkles underneath twinkling holiday lights is so enchanting, I'm holding on to that for motivation.
i am thinking how much poorer, how much less colorful the world would be if art was only made by "professionals." if all the music, all the stories, all the sketches & paintings & craftwork of the world was created only by the small category of people able to make a decent living from their art. imagine if the only people allowed to create were the experts & the renowned & those aspiring to the top. what a grey world that would be. how much joy would be bleached away! i love you people who create for the sake of creating, i love you artists who do art for tiny audiences, i love you people who make things even just for one person, even just for themselves, even if no one's watching, thank you thank you thank you for decorating the world in which we all exist
I have the strong urge to make myself a pair of pants. . . . . ... ...... ... does anyone have any advice on how to do that, bearing in mind that I don't have a sewing machine and must sew by hand
Just realized I never posted a picture of my favorite skirt! (My pfp was from when it was incomplete.) I quilted together 140+ hexagons by hand, all from scrap/salvaged fabric. And it has pockets that don鈥檛 suck!
The more I learn about judaism the more I wonder where tf christianity got all its bad shit. Why is divorce a sin in christianity when judaism has recognized the right to divorce for nearly a millennia and has codified religious laws for it. Why does christianity consider sex to be dirty (to the point where puritans considered it a sin to enjoy having sex with your own spouse) when in judaism it's considered holy and it's a literal mitzvah to have sex with your spouse on the sabbath. Why does christianity consider it a sign that you're faithless if you question your religion when in judaism that's considered an essential part to developing your faith. I'm probably stating the obvious here but I still can't get over the fact that there's no historical basis to any of this shit before christianity started, it's like christians just said "hey guys what if we took the torah and built a new religion around it but this time it was actively hostile to human life"
