sorry if this is an ignorant question, but what is the issue with mahmoud abbas? i haven’t heard much about him.
I answered a similar question back in 2016 so I'm copy/pasting (apologies if some of the info/links are outdated, I don't have time to go through them but you get the gist):
for starters, the palestinian leadership (PA) as a whole is illegitimate as mahmoud abbas has been a “president” without a mandate since 2010 (thanks to the US who desperately need him to stay!)
financial corruption within the PA is serious (which you can read about at length here) but for example, the PA is accused of the “loss” of 2 billion euros of aid intended for the west bank and gaza. it’s funny because around the same time, mahmoud abbas’ new mansion in ramallah was being built!
abbas openly rejects palestinians’ right of return and was quoted to have said to israeli opposition that “we will not ask to return to Yafa, Akka, and Safad”.
abbas has always called to normalise relations with Israel and his PA coordinates its security forces with the israeli forces as the former suppresses palestinians and jails youth and activists or even hands them out to israeli occupation forces. this comes as no surprise as abbas treats security collaboration with Israel as something “sacred”, according to his own words.
with all this suppression, abbas yet again opposes any means for palestinians to peacefully protest their occupation as he also openly opposes the BDS movement.. for some reason.
abbas is doing nothing but harm to the palestinian struggle as he insists to continue on with the “peace process” sham — something which had proven to only worsen the situation for palestinians and the palestinian cause at large ever since oslo. these are all off the top of my head, but i hope i was able to help you understand why the amount of palestinians who detest him grows every day.

Update post:
Today marks 123 days since Hamas launched the war in Gaza with its massacre of Israeli civilians.
There were two terrorist attacks today in Israel, both stopped before anyone was injured. The first entails Palestinians from the West Bank shooting at a home in kibbutz Meirav in the Gilboa mountains (where the Israelite king Shaul and his sons died 3,000 years ago), the house was damaged, but no person was hurt. This kibbutz was attacked several times along 2023. The second was in the city of Shchem (you might know it as Nablus, the Arab mispronunciation of the Greek word 'Neapolis,' because Arabic doesn't have the sound 'p'), I'm attaching the pic of the gun and knife which were found on the terrorist after he was neutralized. I found reports about them on two Israeli websites (Ha'aretz and Now14), but both are in Hebrew. The latter also mentions a rock throwing terror attack earlier today, against the car of a woman named Rachel Yaniv. Her brothers, Halel and Yagel Yaniv, were murdered by Palestinian terrorists almost a year ago.
Tumblr media
We got the info today on an Iranian attempt on the lives of Jewish leaders in Stockholm, that was stopped in 2021. These terrorists, believed to be linked to the IRGC, infiltrated Sweden under the guise of Afghan refugees, and were deported (rather than put on trial) in 2022. This is a small reminder that the Islamist axis led by Iran, and which includes the terrorist organizations it funds (including Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis), as well as countries that chose to align themselves with Iran against the west, such as Qatar, is not anti-Zionist, it IS antisemitic.
Tumblr media
In an Israeli TV interview conducted in Arabic, an Israeli journalist asked the right hand man of Palestinian Authority's president Mahmoud Abbas, whether he's willing to denounce the Oct 7 massacre. He didn't. Instead, he insisted that the occupation is the source of all this violence (even though terrorist attacks against Jews in Israel by Arabs predate both the war in 1967, which used to be defined as the start of "the occupation," and the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948), and that as long as the occupation continues, so will such acts [as the Oct 7 massacre].
As part of the campaign against the antisemitism and bias at the BBC, an employee who called the Jews Nazis, and denied the Holocaust, has finally been fired.
youtube
Israel's most popular sketch comedy show decided to tackle UNRWA with this funny short vid:
In the segment where the UNRWA teacher shows how he teaches biology, history and English using Hitler's Mein Kampf, on the left side of the wall behind the "teacher" you can see the lyrics of a song titled Fedayeen (a term used for Egypt-funded Palestinian terrorists who attacked Israelis in the 1950's), and the pics of two Hamas leaders who are heading the war in Gaza now, Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif ('deif' is a nickname, his real name is Mohammed al-Masri, a last name that literally means "the Egyptian," so guess where his family is originally from).
Jewish singer Montana Tucker proved she's the bravest artist from among countless performers who attended the biggest American entertainment award shows recently, as she wore an enlarged version of the yellow ribbon to bring the Israeli hostages back home to the Grammys. She didn't just speak up for her people, she made sure everyone would hear her. She's been regularly speaking up for Israelis and Jews since Oct 7.
Tumblr media
The ceremony also included a nice gesture to the over 400 people in Israel who were either murdered at or kidnapped from the Nova music festival on Oct 7. Taylor Swift broke yet another music industry record, so this is a good time to remind everyone that there are several Hamas leaders who are each individually richer than her. It pays more to kill Jews, than to be one of the most successful musicians ever (her net worth is estimated at about 1 billion dollars).

This is 19 years old Idan Alexander.
Tumblr media
His mom Yael recounted how cool he was in every given situation, and how proud his family was of him, when he told them that he intends to leave New Jersey and make Alyiah. Moving to Israel of course meant he'd have to serve in the army, too. On Oct 7, Yael got to talk to him, and hear that he has seen some horrible things already. She knew something was off, because unlike his usual behavior, he sounded stressed. Idan was kidnapped by Hamas, and it took 6 days before the family even learned whether he's alive or dead. He's been in captivity for 4 months now.

Lmfao why in the blue fuck am I obsessing with finding cute, meaningful first and second names for these two's hypothetical twins that I'm unsure if I'll ever really implement?
Nobody asked but for the girl it would be Ayanna Freyja [surname redacted] and for the boy it's Johari Anatoly [surname redacted].
Yeah, I have OCs that are parents. Trevor has a girl (still a baby) named Arcana. I had to go with something goth sounding. This baby's fucking whole name is Arcana Ravencroft-Thorn.
Hyphened for three reasons: 1. My dumbass really wanted this girl to basically be named Gothy McGoth-Goth. 2. Trevor and Aurora aren't married, it was a one night stand that ended in an accidental pregnancy. 3. I wanted Arcana to carry both of their surnames because both of them are equally in her life as parents and I just thought it was cute. Hilarity ensues and by hilarity I mean Trevor's a werewolf and Aurora is human and she had no idea till she was pregnant that werewolves were even a real thing and one massive freak out later she grew okay with the idea of her child being a werewolf, of course, it helped that she sat down with Trevor, Angelus, Mason, Mahmoud and Jax (all werewolves) to talk things through.
Of course then there's Ginger and Jasmine (btw Jasmine is Abigail's new name) who will adopt because vampires cannot reproduce no matter what. They end up adopting two girls. This is still an idea in WIP but like Trevor's kid it will happen, just further down the line.
And then we have Loke and Uthorim who end up with two kids. Names and genders are TBA later.
Pretty sure that by going through all this info it should be pretty obvious who the parents of the twins are. If it ain't then guess I overestimated, they're Jelani and Angelus' kids. I've actually been playing with this idea for years but I'm not sure. Yeah, Jelani's gone centuries saying parenthood is just NOT for him and it's the reason why he and his first boyfriend split. He wanted kids but Jela didn't. He's gone from full on no to 90% no and 10% probably. Angelus has kinda gone from "hell no" to "eh not really" to "eh maybe, if the time's right". I like the idea and I'm leaning more towards yes. Tbh Valp can get pregnant it's just really difficult for him to do so. In all his 200+ years he's only had that one miscarriage. It was Jela, no, he doesn't know. Angelus figured it was his business and his alone. Either way for them I'm definitely gonna implement this development muuuuuuuuuuuch later.
Idk just putting thoughts down.

This whole thing is so hard to follow because all the witnesses are SO unreliable.
Also;
Graham Johnson, the main witness who has gathered all the info about other hackers for the Henri, Elton, etc.’s lawyers, wrote for News of the World for ten years.
He was fired from News of the World after claiming he had found & photographed “Beast of Bodmin” in Cornwall.
That is a mythical cat.
Where did Graham Johnson get these pics of the mythical cat? From Mazher Mahmoud - the fake sheikh.
Who else did the Fake Sheikh bamboozle?
Sophie!!!!

This ask was a ride! I wanna see the mythical cat photo! Pls say Fergie fits in somehow, didn’t she have her own fake person pay for Andy access

info main bola Tidak Dipermanenkan MU, Marcel Sabitzer Segera Gabung Klub Ini
Tumblr media
info main bola – Saga transfer Marcel Sabitzer memasuki babak baru.

New Play I WAS A STRANGER TOO Highlights Hope Amid Danger In Asylum System
Asylum seekers and refugee needs in the U.S. and around the world fill the news. But what can one person do?
by A.A. Cristi Jan. 10, 2023
Asylum seekers and refugee needs in the U.S. and around the world fill the news. But what can one person do?
'I Was A Stranger Too,' a new play by Cynthia L. Cooper and directed by Carolyn Levy, tells the stories of people who are seeking asylum and those who help them. The play will have four performances, Jan 26 -29, at The Neighborhood House (Wellstone Center) in St. Paul.
Drawn from dozens of interviews, 'I Was A Stranger Too,' is set in Minnesota, where refugee resettlement is among the nation's highest per capita. The play follows a woman who, propelled by the memory of her mother's rescue from the Holocaust, is drawn to help asylum seekers. In unfolding monologues, she encounters a rich mosaic of people who are fleeing persecution, anti-LGBTI violence, civil strife and other threats, and individuals determined to welcome them.
"The play takes audience members beyond stereotypes to the power and capacity of the human spirit, sharing the hopes that can emerge from a single act of caring," said Carolyn Levy, director.
Featured in the play are Bethmari Márquez Barreto, Kirby Bennett, Nicole Frethem, Mahmoud Hakima, Megan Kim, Jasmine Porter, Shona Ramchandani, Abigail Ramsay, and Phasoua Vang; Karina Hunt is the Production Manager and music is by Leslie Steinweiss.
Carolyn Levy, director, is a former professor of theatre at Hamline University, where she founded a Social Justice Theatre program. She has worked at Theatre Unbound, Park Square, Penumbra Theatre Summer Institute and the Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company.
Playwright Cynthia L. Cooper is a two-time Jerome fellow at the Playwrights Center. An award-winning playwright with productions off-Broadway and across the country and plays in 17 volumes, Cooper lives and is active in the theater in New York.
'I Was A Stranger Too' was selected as a finalist in the Jewish Plays Project, for the Trish Vrandenberg Prize, a semi-finalist at the O'Neill National Playwrights Conference, and is a grant recipient of Rimon (Minnesota Jewish Arts Council), and the Alliance of Jewish Theatres.
Performances will be Thursday January 26 and Friday January 27 at 7 pm, Saturday January 28 and Sunday January 29 at 2 pm at the Neighborhood House (Wellstone Center), 179 Robie Street East in St. Paul. Tickets are pay what you wish (suggested $10).
Performances will be followed by talk backs with experts and community activists in the field.

I’m not sure if this will interest anyone, but since @eddiediass located the movie (Black Sunday) that inspired the s6 opening disaster, and because I know a few people were wondering how much of the movie would the show adopt...
I ended up watching the movie. I realized even before I started watching, when I just read a short plot summary, that it was very much shaped by the current events of the time, the 1970′s. That made me wanna look up some background info on how the movie came to be, which was kind of perfect as my vertigo makes it difficult to watch anything without pauses. In case you don’t know, the movie is about a Vietnam vet joining forces with a Palestinian terrorist to carry out a terror attack in the form of them crashing a blimp into a stadium. The novel that the movie is based on was published in 1975, the same year the Vietnam war ended. That was also the same decade when Palestinian terrorists were often kidnapping international flights in order to hold the passengers hostage for all sorts of demands (money, fellow terrorists released from prisons all over the world, etc).
So yeah, that kinda played out in the back of my mind. The airplane jackings, the most famous of which ended with the successful Entebbe rescue operation in 1976, where the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) managed to free the hostages despite having to travel 2,860 miles to do so. The Ma’alot massacre in 1974, when Palestinian terrorists infiltrated Israel from Lebanon and took a bunch of kids sleeping in the local school hostages. The IDF tried to free them, but were only partly successful, and ultimately this ended with the murder of 31 civilians in total. Most of them were kids. Just consider having that in the back of your mind as you fly across 2,860 miles to free Israeli and Jewish hostages (all the non-Jewish passengers were released by the terrorists), asking yourself whether you’ll succeed every step of the way.
But the terrorist attack that actually first jumped out at me when I was reading the summary was the 1972 kidnapping and subsequent massacre of 11 Israeli Olympic athletes by Palestinian terrorists at the Olympic games in Munich. Funnily enough, I was just recently thinking about One Day in September, an Oscar winning documentary about this massacre. I believe it’s one of the best documentaries I’d ever seen, for several reasons, including the fact that it revealed some truths and failures of the German government a lot of people were not aware of. Sep 5, 2022 marks exactly 50 years since that massacre. It’s only now that the German government is going to officially take responsibility for the Munich massacre and compensate the families of the victims. So since it’s been on the news, I’ve been thinking about that excellent documentary and would like to rec it to everyone. If you don’t take anything else from this post, please watch this documentary, it shook me to my core.
Oh, another reason why this massacre has been on the news recently is that in August, Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority, was visiting Germany. He was one of the men who helped the Munich massacre happen. During a press call with the German chancellor, he was asked whether he would apologize to Israel and Germany for that attack (the journalist didn’t mention Abbas’ personal part in the massacre). In response, Abbas blamed Israel of having committed “50 Holocausts”.
Anyway, turns out my first thought was right on the mark. Apparently, the novel was written in reaction to the massacre of the Israeli athletes in Munich. In fact, the Palestinian terrorist group that carried out the Munich massacre, Black September, was explicitly named in the film as being the one putting together the blimp terrorist attack. And in fact, it had to be a serious terrorist organization behind it, since in the movie, it’s not just the blimp that’s about to be crashed into the stadium, the attack also involves setting off explosives and over 220,000 rifle darts from the blimp.
Other things that stood out to me were the inclusion of a Japanese terrorist (this is probably in reference to the collaboration of Palestinian terrorists with the terror organization The Japanese Red Army, which carried out in Israel the 1972 massacre at Lod airport, where 25 civilians were murdered) and mentioning Libya financing the attack (something I only found out recently, while watching a documentary about the Libyan tyrant, Muammar Gaddafi, is that he did in fact finance, among other terrorist acts, the Munich massacre). There was one character I was baffled about. The Israeli Mossad agent looking to stop the attack turns to a Colonel Riat for help. The Israeli agent mentioned an Egyptian “expelled by you”, so at first I thought maybe this colonel was Jordanian. After all, ‘Black September’ was initially set up to take revenge on the Jordanians who in September 1970 killed and expelled thousands of Palestinians due to the attempt by the Palestine Liberation Organization (a terrorist organization back then led by Yasser Arafat) to seize power in Jordan, an event referred to as “black September”. But checking out some info online, it seems like this man was supposed to be an Egyptian, which makes a lot of what he says to the Israeli Mossad agent either not make sense or come off as incredibly hypocritical. TBH, even beyond what he says, it makes less sense for the Mossad agent to go off the record to an Egyptian for help in identifying a Black September terrorist, than to go to Jordan, which had a great interest in seeing Black September fail. This stood out to me especially after I’ve recently learned from a documentary about Jordan’s King Hussein that when the Syrians were moving to aid the Palestinian attempted coup, he secretly turned to Israel for help in stopping the Syrians from invading Jordan.
Now is the movie good? Maybe the novel is. I can’t read it (thanks again, vertigo), so I can’t tell you for sure. But the film is def lacking. While somewhat historically interesting in tying together all of these events, and considering what’s accurate and what’s not, the overall movie is just really weak. It takes time to even figure out who we’re meant to identify with, we find out so little about the characters and get even less about where they are emotionally, so it’s hard to cheer for any of them. The subjects are topical for the 1970′s, though blending together the mistreatment of Vietnam vets with the Palestinian terrorism plot took a lot out of the impact that the former subject could have. And at the same time, the look at the terrorist attack is used as a plot device to create tension, but without any seeming real care for this complex subject. The movie just ends up having absolutely nothing to say of any substance. The action might have been good if any of the events carried any emotional significance, beyond the general “killing lots of people is bad, gotta stop that.”
Anyway, given the international, complex threads of the original movie, which 911 isn’t generally interested in, and given how they’re handled in the movie without any heart, which is again so different to how our show cares about its main and even incidental characters, I really don’t think they’ll be borrowing anything from the movie other than the concept of a blimp disaster. Which is a bit of a shame, because as Dev mentioned, the vet not properly coping with trauma could have been a goldmine. Not in the way that movie deals with it, though. In short, I watched this movie so you don’t have to.
