Friendly reminder that Jazz way of speaking is not “thug” or “gangster” But AAVE, an actual existing Dialect in the United States that is predominantly used in Black Communities, and if you don’t know how to use it you should not do it because it comes off as mockery.

COLLISION 14/10/23
Setting foundations
Tumblr media
Collision opens with Adam Copeland who is here to address Christian's comments. Before the Rated R Superstar can speak, security make their way to the ring followed by Christian Cage. There is one enhanced talent in a brown suit. He looked important but didn't do anything noteworthy. Christian is still the best heel as he continues to be a real bastard. Bryan Danielson, Big Bill, Ricky Starks and the former champs, FTR come to the ring as everyone is ready to brawl. Starks and Adam take some fun shots at each other while Danielson demands the match for the TNT Championship right now. Of course, that doesn't happen because wrestlers should not have the power to demand such things. This was a criticism I had with Smackdown this past week. The commentators inform us that the main event will remain the main event. This was an enjoyable segment as it featured some of AEW top stars
SEQUE!!!
Due to the Israel-Hamas war there was some controversy last week when Juice Robinson threatened to hit MJF with a roll of quarters. I didn’t find this segment to be offensive. MJF being pelted with quarters has been a part of this character’s history. I merely saw this as Robinson taking a shot at a weak point in Max's life. Wrestling is also art, and art always reflects the climate we're in. AEW addressed this controversial segment where MJF and other leaders in sport met up to send a positive message regarding antisemitism. This showcased the real side of Max which was refreshing to see during this babyface run.
Samoa Joe defended his TV title against Willie Mack. I have no idea who Willie Mack is, but I liked what I saw. The match up was great as Joe and Mack are similar in size. At one point Mack leaped over the top rope and almost took out the announce table. Willie also gave us the unforgiving nipple twisters. There was also a point where Joe powerslammed Mack and it looked real rough. This was a bout worth checking out.
CJ Perry is backstage once again. She makes it clear she wants to manage. Action Andretti steps up and requests Perry's services. Perry doesn’t say yes or no, but giggles after he leaves. The excitement she emoted is that of a schoolgirl who finds out her crush likes her back. Later, Miro appears as he tosses Andretti's corpse to the side. He says, "I am willing to destroy every man to protect the one woman." which is weird. Didn't he want nothing to do with CJ? But at the same time, he doesn't want her to manage anyone. I find the whole thing strange, but it will be interesting to see who she lands with.
The Fallen Angel makes an appearance in gods knows how long. Man, I remember when he was featured with Kazarian and Scorpio Sky during the early days of AEW…any who, he is up against Juice Robinson. It was an okay match that added more heat onto Juice who promises to win the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale so he can face MJF and take the ring. There was a mention of the man in the devil mask but no follow up from the people who attacked Jay yet.
Skye Blue is now a heel since she’s been sprayed by mist from Julia Hart. Blue took on Kris Statlander is a decent match. I’m always impressed by Statlander's strength. Of course, the TBS champion would retain, but I think it was important that Blue gets some character progression and there seems to be more to the story as Willow Nightingale came to the ring post-match to care of Blue as she told Statlander to leave.
Another good match was the Bryan Danielson versus Christian Cage for the TNT Championship in what felt like a real main event match. Danielson stretched Christian in horrific ways while the champ worked on Bryan's right arm. Ultimately Christian retained due to Big Bill and Ricky Starks getting involved. Also, due to the injured right arm, the LeBell Lock could not be used to its full effect.
There was so much going on in this show that I don’t have time to reflect on, but a lot of it was to build storylines. AEW needed to rework its foundation and start to mould it's show in a clear direction. It's just a matter of sticking with what they are presenting and follow through.

Okay I know that there's a 99% chance they'll be fine but I am genuinely worried about Seblos xd. I'm still dealing with the disappointment that Joe's not in every episode and you expect me to make it through this?? And I know we get Over Again but like also. We get Over Again xdd. It's not the most NON CONCERNING song y'all xD. Still though, while I love the angst, I really hope this doesn't last long 😬. I just finished watching Exception and I must say I really enjoyed it. It's a very fun mystery thriller with eye catching visuals and really interesting character designs.
It's a very tight made story with a small cast so it's easy to follow.
There are some scenes that aren't shot in ways that I really liked (there is a spinning scene that I understand the purpose of but feel could have been done better a different way). Some shots linger on rather bland or uninteresting scenery which is a shame because some of the design elements are fantastic and would have made for a much more interesting shot.
Dialogue is well done, the characters are consistent in their actions and behaviors, even if I don't necessarily like how they acted or reacted.
Mack has my favorite character design, but I'm a sucker for a broody, goal-driven punk.
Of the characters, I liked Lewis's design the least. I understand why he looks that way (they have all three masculine base body types: V, O, and square), but he is visually the least interesting to me. His personalities make up for it though.
I also love that they don't over explain the world or the characters. There is some delving into back stories, but just enough to make them feel real and always in dialogue between a character who is familiar and one who isn't (the three male characters clearly knew each other prior to the show).
No one over explains things. Each character has their own speciality and so only explains within their knowledge base.
Final spoiler free thought: I love the design of the ship. It's beautiful to me.
Spoilers going forward. Be warned.
The mystery is very well done. No one character is telegraphed as being suspicious but they also all have just enough not-known that it's difficult to clear any of them, excluding the doctor (though in the show they don't discount her potential involvement).
Patty, in my opinion, is foreshadowed very well. She is odd from the beginning and it seems like she isn't well known by the other crew members. It isn't striking at the beginning because we don't know if any of them are or are not familiar with each other.
I really like Lewis's monster design, I like that he has difficulty speaking due to the mangled shape of his mouth and throat. I find the arc of him adapting to his new body and regaining control of himself very interesting and I love the narrative beat of Mack switching from "it" to "him" immediately after he realizes his friend really might be in there somewhere. Making it clear that Mack was only using the pronoun "it" to mentally distance himself from the concept of it still being his friend Lewis. This being shown even more strongly later on when he is the first to be ruled out.
The autophilia by Patty is both a little creepy (because up until that point she really hadn't shown interest in much) and feels almost obvious. Of course the only person she could trust with such a dangerous mission would be herself, and there is real genuine care shown between the two different prints.
Overall the show left me thinking, which I enjoy. It brings up questions of personhood, was each print their own person? At what point is a copy no longer a copy? In world there were laws and policies about how to treat printed people, laws about who couldn't be reprinted and when exceptions can apply.
It brings up but does not answer: Is a copy still human if it's molecularly identical but not born in the traditional fashion? Are we just our memories and the body we inhabit is just the host?
I highly recommend this show. It's only eight episodes so it's not difficult to finish in a reasonable amount of time. If you watch or have watched it, please let me know what you think!

Thoughts on Sonic Prime, the Netflix series? ^^
I binged it yesterday bc I got curious from seeing from the gifsets you were reblogging (oh, messed up alternate timelines my beloveds) and I really enjoyed it! :D
So, any notes? Anything in particular that caught your eye or that you'd like to see in future episodes? 👀
Well, I mean, I haven't really thought about it too much since we've only got eight episodes so far so I'm gonna wait till we've got the whole thing before I judge the series. But from what we've got so far:
I really like it.
It's not my favourite Sonic series, that's still Sonic X but nostalgia and the fact that it has a lot more episodes probably plays a big part in that so I'm not gonna hold that against Prime.
This personality for Sonic is a little bit different than what I'm used to but I still think it works really well and he manages to carry the show with his little comments.
I adore the alternate universe versions of the characters and how they take one aspect of them and change it, i.e Tails is a genius but if he never met Sonic and learned to have confidence in what makes him different so he becomes Nine, Amy is extremely kind and empathetic but if she couldn't talk about her feelings they go out of control and she becomes Thorn, etc. It's a simple concept but it works so well and they do it in a way where you don't need prior knowledge about the characters but if you do, you get some more enjoyment from it.
The worlds are all really interesting, my personal favourite so far is the pirate one, probably because there's no "We can't trust you!" Kinda thing going on like the other worlds 'cause that kinda conflict just irritates me after a while. And also just... Pirates are fun and the voices they have in that world are fun.
Speaking of voices, the voice acting is really, really good. I was a little nervous when they said the cast was gonna be different from the games because like... The voices have changed so many times... And it always starts arguments... But I really like this cast, especially Devan Mack as Sonic. Like he's not copying anyone, it's his own version of the character and he's got the cockiness, the cheekiness, the awkwardness, everything works perfectly. Not to mention, he nails the more serious scenes too like when Nine shows him the Grim and he has to turn him down. Apparently a lot of the cast were in MLP but I never saw that series, it wasn't on any channels I had growing up so I can't really comment, but they sound great in this series!
Another thing I love is the animation. I love the sheer amount of squash and stretch they use, it really gives Sonic's speed this zippy quality and just gives off this really fun vibe. And the fight coordination is really good, like that fight between Sonic and Shadow in Green Hill was great to watch. Not to mention, the effects they use for the prism powers look great. And my absolute favourite thing: They animate Sonic's ears to convey emotion. Instantly won me over with that.
Although, the thing I'm most looking forward to seeing more of has to be Shadow. Ngl it's been quite a while since he was written this well. I like the IDW comic version but even that has its problems sometimes. But I like how he is working towards what's best, he just sucks at communication and butts heads with Sonic because they both think they're doing the right thing. And while I don't like the characterisation of Shadow fighting Sonic on sight every time he sees him that most modern Sonic stuff does, I will say in Prime it's completely justified. I still find it funny that the first thing Shadow does when Sonic joins him in the void is punch him in the face.
Honestly, the only thing I'm not enjoying about Prime at the moment is the Chaos Council. I just don't find them funny or threatening. It's literally "oh here's five weird versions of Eggman with their own gimmick" like... Cool. Can we have just plain Eggman back please? The only thing I like about the Chaos Council is Rusty Rose. They might get better in the new episodes but I'm not holding my breath. They just really don't appeal to me.
But honestly on the whole, I'm really enjoying the series so far and I love all the small details they put into it like the aforementioned ear movements, how Rouge sleeps upside down, how Tails' tails are a lot thicker than Nine's tails because he actually uses them, the fact that the story ties back to the original Sonic game's themes of anti-industrialism in different ways, etc. Not to mention the little easter eggs like Tails' passcode being 1992, the year he debuted in Sonic 2, and Big's New Yoke identification code being 1998, the year he debuted in Sonic Adventure. I hope we get to see more things like that because they put a smile on my face.
Honestly, I hope the new episodes put more focus on Shadow now that he's finally got Sonic to come pick him up but I think he really has a lot of potential. And I'm really, really curious to see what Rouge's world is gonna be like. A lot of people are saying they'd like to see a Western style place which I agree would be pretty cool. And I hope more of the alternate universe characters interact with each other like how Rusty Rose and Black Rose did because that could lead to some interesting dialogue.
I didn't mean for this to become an entire goddamn essay but apparently I had some Opinions. Also none of my mutuals are really into Sonic so I don't get to talk it often so I guess it all just kinda exploded here.

I think I’m having too much fun with this!! 🥰🥰💞💞
Here are some lines from my favorite poem…Disorientation: A Science Poem by Katie Mack
I want you to believe that the universe is a vast, random, uncaring place, in which our species, our world, has absolutely no significance. And I want you to believe that the only response is to make our own beauty and meaning and to share it while we can.
I want to make it mean something to you. That you are in the cosmos. That you are of the cosmos. That you are born from stardust and to stardust you will return. That you are a way for the universe to be in awe of itself.
I’m tossing these words to you….take whatever lines that evokes a feeling, a character and situation that speaks to you….
Ok so first of all, I adore Katie Mack. She is one of my favorite sci-commers I follow on Twitter, so you are hitting all of the right notes here Leyla. Also, I think I am going to hurt my own feelings here on this one with some Iden... before everything went wrong. I can do that right? I know she's not canon, but she is to me.
For those of you that are new here, my OC Iden is introduced in my fic "Guarded" and reappears in "Shadows and Shades".
Tumblr media
"I just don't understand, Dad. How can they do this?" Iden muttered, reflexively wrapping her arms around herself as the news holos played the same images over and over again.
Battle droids invading Theed. The queen escaped. With Jedi? A blockade. What was going to happen to them?
Her father placed a finger to his lips, and her brow furrowed in frustration at being shushed. His eyes flicked to where her younger sister Nisa was sitting with their mother, clutching the stuffed voorpak to her chest a little tighter as the images cycled again. Iden's glare softened at the fear in her sister's eyes. She felt a tug on her shoulder and looked up at her father once more. He jerked his head towards the kitchen door and she nodded, following him outside.
The night sky stretched out before them. Normally, Iden would find solace in the stars, but tonight she could pick out the unfamiliar blips of light that marked the positions of the Trade Federation blockade sitting in a high orbit around Naboo. "Why are they here, Dad? It doesn't even make any sense."
Her father crouched down, resting his hands on her shoulders. "It doesn't, but they've decided that we were worth troubling."
"That's not fair. And why Naboo? What did we ever do?"
Her father sighed. "Iden, sometimes life isn't fair. The galaxy isn't fair. I want you to see the good around you, but I also want you to believe that the universe is a vast, random, uncaring place, in which our species, our world, has absolutely no significance." Her brows furrowed. Her father was normally the epitome of optimism. This seemed counter to everything she'd ever heard from him. If he's lost hope, then things must really be bad. Her face fell, but his fingers slipped under her chin, raising her eyes back to his. "And I want you to believe that the only response is to make our own beauty and meaning and to share it while we can."
Her eyes that she shared with her father glistened. She gave him a half-cocked smile as he cupped her face in his hands.
"Even in the darkest days, my little star, you must be the positive thing you seek. If not for yourself, then for your sister and others that will look to you. For those that need your light. You're a leader, Iden. Seek the happiness when there is none and find the good in those that think they are unworthy of that light." He sighed, and for a moment, she could almost see the weight resting on his shoulders, slumping them from their normally proud stance. She blinked and he'd recomposed himself, brushing a stray lock of hair out of her face. "Be the guiding beacon, my little star."
She stepped forward, hugging him tightly and wrapping her fingers in the fabric of his shirt. "Yes, Papa." She rarely called him that, only slipping into it in times where she felt small, and she felt him squeeze her tighter.
"You're up to the task, Iden. Don't ever doubt that."

Six is Super Fun But Also Kinda Bad
sorry not sorry ‘bout what i said...
Tumblr media
In a way, I’m not entirely convinced Six is actually a musical. It feels more like a concert than anything, with a paper thin plot and dialogue that had me constantly cringing. However, much like a concert, I was there for the music and the music was of course fantastic.
To begin, I want to say that I won the $30 lottery seats for this, which put me in the front row. To be very honest, I would not have paid any more than that to see this show. It is only about 70 minutes long and is again very much a concert and not a musical so I really couldn’t justify paying even a TKTS price for it. Unfortunately, the cheaper seats are usually in the back of the theater and this is very much a show where you want to be as close as possible.
I really expected to be blown away by this show, but honestly? I was more disappointed than anything. The plot is genuinely bad and the dialogue is genuinely awful (filled to the brim with “lol” and social media references) and I’ll definitely be going into spoiler territory here but honestly it doesn’t even matter because there isn’t enough plot to hold the weight of a spoiler in the first place.
So basically the premise is these six queens are performing this show for you (how? why? don’t think too hard on it) since they have decided to form a girl group but will now hold a contest to see who had it worst with Henry VIII to see who will become the leader of the girl group - even though girl groups don’t really have leaders but again don’t think too hard on this. The six queens then each sing a song about their life and somehow skip all the actual interesting details about themselves before Catherine Parr (wife #6) is like guys WAIT we shouldn’t be pitting ourselves against each other! We should be feminist and be a TEAM and then they all turn to the audience and are like ACTUALLY we were a team all along and this was all a trick to get us the audience to see how bad comparing women is. Why was it a trick? Didn’t we already know comparing women is bad? Anyways, this “plot twist” occurs like ten minutes before the show ends and is just... kinda there? It’s very much a “oh okay” moment where you really can’t do anything but accept it for what it is because we know they’re gonna do the big MegaSix number at the end and that’s the best part anyway.
But like I said before, the music is super fun and super catchy and in the moment is an absolute BLAST. So I had a fantastic time watching it because it’s a fun time, but once you give the show one single shred of thought it kind of falls apart completely.
Also, the costumes are super gorgeous and I loved getting a front row seat to see all the details. I visited the Showstoppers NYC! exhibit in August and got to speak with one of the guys who hand makes Katherine Howard’s costume so it was very cool getting to see them all live and in person.
Since the cast is only six people, I’ll go through them all (and their songs) one by one. Uniformly they were great, but I will admit that almost none of them stayed in character unless it was their turn to have their number. I blame this on the weird and clunky choreography, which is so excessive and so many moves that make them all look like robots.
First up is Catherine of Aragon, played by Adrianna Hicks. She sings “No Way” which is a fantastic first song of the Queen Competition. She really commanded the stage and was super interactive with the audience.
Next up is Anne Boleyn, played by Andrea Macasaet. Her song is “Don’t Lose Ur Head” and it’s the best song in the show. It will in fact be stuck in my head forever and I loved how bubbly and fun Macasaet was! She is so tiny but her energy filled the entire theater! Her costume is also my favorite of the queens.
However, as much as I loved her performance, I do take issue with how Anne Boleyn is portrayed. In actuality, Anne Boleyn was wicked smart and very religious and was not the ditzy having fun all day long person that she’s portrayed as. Her sister was Henry’s mistress and Anne really didn’t want to get involved with him. She was more interested in religion than anything else.
(and a side note, something I found odd was Catherine of Aragon’s brief mention of Mary but Anne Boleyn not bringing up Elizabeth at all. She even jokes about writing lyrics for Shakespeare in a better version of her life but Elizabeth was not only one of the most influential queens England had but also saw Shakespeare’s plays)
Which brings us to Jane Seymour, played by the lovely Abby Mueller, who looks and sounds strikingly like her sister. Unfortunately, Mueller is given the very worst song in the show in “Heart of Stone.” Oh man. This is a bad one. It’s the lowest energy song and has the worst lyrics and since you know the song is literally about Henry VIII you absolutely cannot get behind it. It’s a shame, because Mueller is giving the best performance in the show, and also the most consistent one!!
This brings me to my wider Jane Seymour Problem. Jane’s whole character is basically “wait but actually I loved him” and the show kinda brushes aside the whole fact of Henry being completely awful whenever it comes to Seymour. Anne Boleyn does chime in a couple times with a “but he literally beheaded me” but Seymour is consistently trying to spin it around. The show doesn’t know how to navigate the fact that Henry probably only loved her because she gave him a son and that very little is actually known about this woman. In Jane’s little “better version of her life” in the last song, she actually pairs herself with Henry as a long term relationship/family thing, even though the whole point of the song before is that they don’t need Henry? Make it make sense, Six! Make it make sense!
I’m gonna skip right over “Haus of Holbein” because that song was stupid and that whole sequence was stupid.
Luckily the next song was way better, with Brittney Mack’s Anna of Cleves bringing down the house with “Get Down.” On the cast album, “Get Down” is the one I always skip but I don’t think I will anymore because Mack was incredible. She made that song one of the absolute highlights of the show. She was absolutely fantastic.
Usually Katherine Howard is played by Samantha Pauly, but she was out and tonight the character was played by Courtney Mack, who was really wonderful. She can Sing with a capital S! “All You Wanna Do” is a really great song and it actually dives into interesting emotional territory and I wish more of the songs had that! I wish the show had more of that!! K Howard is usually the one no one talks about so I was glad she had a really good song that really laid out her life in a fairly raw way.
Coming in at song number six is “I Don’t Need Your Love,” sung by Anna Uzele’s Catherine Parr. Uzele has a lovely voice but her song is kinda boring and the fact that it’s tied so tightly with the “plot twist” is kind of a let down.
Then the six queens all sing a song (called “Six”) about what they would have liked their lives to be, and most of them are kind of absurd and have to do with becoming pop stars even though that wasn’t a thing back in Tudor England.
Ultimatey, the show is ridiculously fun but has absolutely nothing to say, even though the show really thinks it’s saying something about feminism and history. It doesn’t. It really doesn’t. The closest it gets is “All You Wanna Do” and even then that’s barely breaking the surface. The show is also very high energy and high fun, so they expect you the audience to also gloss over all the inaccuracies and weird Jane Seymour stuff.
This show is being built up as this pinnacle of feminist theatre but honestly it’s mostly mediocre writing that’s saved by catchy songs and powerhouse performers.
Looking back at this review, it does look pretty negative but I swear I had a really good time! I swear it’s very fun! It just isn’t anything more than that.

it’s t-t-t-t-time for another newt bae-science fic rec extravabonanza! same rules, same boys, same bullshit! let’s get into it:
a beginning; a second chance by @dykesword
other newt and i have a long and intricate ritualistic battle to become the alpha newt, but i gotta give credit where it’s due. if you like to annotate your books for fun, this fic will give you a looooong comment you’ll want to write, and for good reason! there’s a lot of really well done metaphor and character detail in here, while still keeping a very soft, melancholy but with a hopeful edge tone. and also, like, the care and detail in which newt’s mental state in the aftermath of the precursors’ abuse is depicted is so so good, and delightful to read
husbandly duties by @kingeiszler
i am soooo biased with this one bc technically it was made for me but GODDAMN it’s good. this shit has everything: gottlieb trio sibling dynamics, vanessa in giant femme earrings, hermann yearning, newt and karla infodumping together, newt’s terrible and accurate gaydar, gay crime, the newmann dynamic and why it works boiled down to its bare essentials, pride and prejudice glasses touch, and neon green acrylics. required reading for the vanessaverse
Say That Again by @robertfrobisherslover
WOOF. if you like mutual pining and lack of communication from men with rocks for their emotional processing centers, and guncle (gay uncle) newt and hermann and KILLER artsy sex scenes, and themes of words unsaid in a story about LANGUAGE..... oogoogogoogouhufug. the writing style is clear and well paced, i LOVE little mako’s scene she’s such a cutie, and there’s like. a line. that’s a play on the whole “it’s always been you” trope. that lives in my mind rent free forever.
speak right to my heart without saying a word by @thekaidonovskys
i’m just gonna paste the comment i left on it here, because that sums up what is so absolutely incredible about this fic the best:
so sometimes you stumble on a piece of fiction that you add to your little collection of stuff you would show a person if you wanted them to understand a part of you that you can't quite explain eloquently, or it would take too long, etc etc, and i've never really found something like that for my autism until now, which, like, poggers. and i'll be as straight up as i can while still being the biggest lesbian in the great state of ohio (not a hard feat but alan invented computers so i love continuing on the autistic tradition of being a living miracle), the chameleon effect hit me like a mack truck. catholic school in the deep south is the most potent and effective form of ABA therapy imaginable :/. so sometimes i wonder what i would be like if i didn't have such a strong ability to pass, and here's where we finally get to the part of this comment where i just vomit compliments at you: you nailed it. you got it. i don't know if you're on the spectrum, but either way, well fucking done. trauma therapy research talks a lot about healing fantasies, which are fantasies, usually in the form of daydreams, that abused/neglected/traumatized/etc people create that directly address a struggle they have and take the form of a scenario in which that struggle is helped in some way. it could be an abusive parent repenting and showering them with the love they never had, or someone finding them during a panic attack and somehow knowing how best to comfort them without having to ask, or being intimate with someone and having a scar or physical deformity they've been shamed for be given attention and care. and i think you have created the ultimate perfect healing fantasy for autistic people, or at least those with """"high functioning"""" autism. it has a character who is visibly and undeniably on the spectrum having the pain and trauma going through life like that causes being acknowledged and validated, they are purposefully paid attention to because person b genuinely likes them and wants to understand and respect who they are and how they function in the world, and thus get The Mortifying Ordeal of Being Known as well as the eventual rewards of being loved, person b makes a genuine effort to help teach them social skills in a way they can understand and learn through and is there for them when these skills are being practiced, their space and boundaries are respected but they aren't infantilized or thought of as an emotionless robot, and they receive love and comfort on their own terms not despite of but because of who they are, even specifically being asked not to change the way they are because that way is lovable. they are openly desired. writing is my fucking JOB and it's still difficult to put into words how much you got 100000% right about the dream with this fic. i have been in the EXACT and i mean EXACT same situation as hermann when he asked newt if it was his personality itself that made people not like him, because i deadass made a spreadsheet of all my personality attributes i thought could be preventing me from making friends in college, and then asked my fellow nd friend to see if there was anything i was missing. so i guess what i'm trying to say is that this amazing, and i'm bookmarking it and putting it on my next fic rec post, and maybe one day way way in the future if i ever get a partner i want to explain the whole autism thing to, i'm gonna have them read this.
The Facts With Newton Geiszler, PhD by what_alchemy (NSFW)
storytime: i read this fic a few years ago, completely forgot the title and author, and ended up thinking about the part where hermann admits to having fucked a trailer hitch when he was a teenager, at least once a week. last november, i say to my friend samara on twitter, head of the BSHCU (buttslut hermann cinematic universe), hey this seems like something you’d have read, do you remember a fic where... and samara says FUCK i do know what you’re talking about lemme find it. so if the fact that i have been looking for this fic for like, two years, and that it contains a moment so iconic all i had to say is, “hermann says he fucked a trailer hitch” and she IMMEDIATELY knew what i was talking about, does not convince you to read this... go back to catholic school i guess.
Feeling Blue by TempusPetrichor
fics where newt goes back to work as a biologist, especially a xenobiologist, post pru are really interesting, and usually have something neat to say about recovery, how it isn’t linear, how it often involves us returning to things we love for comfort, etc. this one sure does! some good emotional and physical h/c, LOVE the use of the ghost drift, and it’s always fun to see post pru fics use dialogue very obviously taken from dbt, trauma-specific therapeutical texts, and anything that shows the author has experience with, or did their research on, ptsd therapies.
You’re Everyone That Ever Cared by KlavierWrites
you know a fic is good when it’s an only 9k slowburn and still manages to reach infinite regress levels of are you fucking KIDDING GO TO THERAPY. newt “acts of service” geiszler may have a little misplaced misogyny due to his broken woman-centric gaydar. as a treat. the fucking. post-drift scene where hermann subtextually screams “LOOK IN OUR BRAINS YOU FUCK I’M IN LOVE WITH YOU I JUST HAVE AUTISM AND CAREER IN STEM DISORDER” is soooooo. god just hermann in general in that scene is great. if you like classic mid 2010s era newmann, ghost drift romance, and good ole mutual pining, this is a treat.

the boys are processinggggggg. man what a good, quick and powerful punch to the gut. if you like post-pr1 catharsis and physical h/c, AND are the one friend that likes to comment at the end of the movie that hey newt got beat the fuck UP, check this one out.
black tea by @faggotcas
okay first of all, god fucking tier url, lee. second of all, food as a love language is my SHIT. i love the very slow relationship development here, where you see them making a genuine effort to get along and that in turn leading to feelings reigniting. it’s such a sweet little moment of a fic, with a nice atmosphere and tone to fit it
now here’s the part where i usually drop my latest fic, but i haven’t written one this month because i’ve been busy launching an audio drama! you can find it here, it’ll be right up your alley if you like cryptids and gay scientists and enemies to lovers and good ole americana, but since this is a newmann post, i’m gonna recommend the pacific rim audio drama duology i did a while back! part one is called conversations from the brink, and it’s a little slice of the pr3 we better fucking get from streaming that godawful looking anime. love and lesbians to everyone ❤️

Finally got around to watching the Christmas episode...
I think Aaron getting to hang out with Marlon, Eve and Charles (we’ll forget Bear) and the food was probably the best option.
It’s incredibly sad how excited I get seeing Aaron speak to other characters that aren’t Liv or seeing him outside the Mill, even when it’s the tiniest thing. He just hasn’t been an actual character of any sort in so long.
As for the wedding...well..I mean it was mostly nauseating but I do feel like there were some things that worked about it and I did think some of the camera trickery stuff was well done at the end. The thing is, there was a time back in the day where I liked both Chas and Paddy as individual characters and I liked them as friends. I was even kind of cool with the idea of them getting together but they ruined it literally immediately with all of that “cursed/bad luck” nonsense with their initial dating attempts.
Then Chas left with Liv and when she came back they just threw them back at each other with no preamble and it was too much too soon and they were kind of sickening with each other for Rhona’s benefit because she wanted Paddy back. Then they kind of made it seem like Paddy was settling by staying with Chas. And then we really started getting into the current rut of literally everything Paddy does annoying Chas and not in like a fun way like with Jimmy and Nicola where they’re constantly annoyed with each other or sighing at each other but you can always feel that love and fondness underneath.
And then the Grace story happened and it was both incredibly bleak and depressing and also endless but it also pit them against each other once again and Chas spent 95% of that story being done with Paddy. And then Bear showed up and Paddy turned into even more of a literal child seeking Daddy’s approval. So then he was both annoying and it felt like Chas was his mother or something being annoyed with her bratty kid. And we got Eve and more bumbling Paddy and then came the stupid leaving her in the car plot, which fractured them more and then Al and they never properly resolved any of that and now all of a sudden they’re married.
It’s just...there are brief moments where I think maybe they could have worked better if they just let Chas actually look like she enjoyed Paddy’s presence and they let Paddy be somewhat less of a bumbling man child. But then if they’re not doing that, they just have them being nauseatingly sappy with each other and Paddy gets that weird breathy voice thing going on and oh my god I just hate them so much. Haha. But like...I swear, there’s a version of them in there that I could tolerate. Maybe it’s just the version where Marlon is the go between. Because , while Marlon and Paddy also drive me nuts most of the time these days because it’s just too much schtick at this point, they do still have their moments and Chas talking to Marlon, even about Paddy, is usually a 100 times better than Chas talking to Paddy. So they can just continue to exist as this weird trio because Marlon makes them almost bearable?!?! Haha.
But also...when do they break up? Let the Christmas wedding curse continue!
As for the rest...this whole Al/Debbie thing is...bizarre. I wanted more Mack. I’m so over Vinny and Paul and Mandy. Also super over Harriet. Don’t understand why Dawn is seemingly fine now. Belle being magically fine now too and no one giving a shit about Jamie anymore  is still just so weird after all of that hit and run nonsense. This show....it needs sooooo much work. Haha.

𝕕𝕚𝕤𝕔𝕠𝕟𝕟𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕕  •  chapter 11  (Calum Hood AU)
Tumblr media
THE NEXT MORNING was spent consoling Hannah.  She hadn’t heard from Ashton since the big blow up, which left her distraught.  Whenever they fought before, they always called or texted to let each other know everything was gonna be okay.  But Ashton was radio silent, and so it was my job to make sure my teary-eyed, emotionally wrecked best friend would be okay.
“Michael didn’t even look at me before he left,” she sniffled, rubbing her swollen eyes and pouting.  I winced; this fight had been huge, and spilled over into everyone else in the house.  I could tell Michael was feeling a little betrayed himself, and Luke probably shared similar thoughts.  Calum, of course, I had no idea about.  I only hoped they all wouldn’t hold a grudge against Hannah and make things even harder for her.
“He’ll get over it, Han,” I promised her.  “Trust me.  Once this all blows over you’ll be stronger than ever.”  She shook her head, eyes cloudy and filled with misery.
“I don’t know, Scarlett,” she said in a weak voice.  “It’s really bad.”  I bit my lip, unsure of what else to say.  I didn’t want to lie and say it wasn’t bad, because lying would help no one.  But I also didn’t believe this was the end of her relationship with Ashton.  They could mend the broken bridges between them, if only he was willing to try.  I think time was the only remedy needed, and once enough time passed things could start improving.
We were joined at that moment by Calum.  I avoided his eyes, still wildly confused about how to feel after last night.  He’d shown a deep understanding that he’d never displayed before, and it stunned me.  I thought Calum of all people would relish the opportunity to expose and humiliate me, but instead he chose to respect my plea for distance.  As he sat down next to me, I felt the heat of his body so close to mine and shifted uncomfortably.
But apparently he wasn’t feeling uncomfortable at all, because there was a relaxed smirk on his face.  He nudged his box of frosted cereal towards me.  “Here, have some since I know you’d just steal it later.”  His tone was jovial, causing me to finally meet his gaze.  It was light and innocent, making my brows raise in disbelief.
I took the box and gladly dug my hand in, enjoying the sickly sweet cereal as Hannah distractedly scrolled through her phone.  Calum shuddered beside me.
“I don’t know how you eat it dry,” he told me, pouring milk into his bowl.  I wrinkled my nose.
“Because soggy cereal is disgusting, that’s why.”  My expression was coy as I took another handful, and he rolled his eyes.  I liked the way we could play off each other and actually joke around, the usual tension missing for some reason.  I figured last night probably had something to do with it, but if this was the new normal I was completely on board.
Hannah looked up from her phone.  “Do you have work today?” she asked.  “I was wondering if we could spend the day watching bad movies and eating unhealthy food.”
I pursed my lips.  “Actually, yeah, in an hour.  But later we can totally--”
“No, no.”  She waved her hand, heaving a sigh and staring off into the distance.  “Maybe a little solitude would be good for me.  I’m way too codependent.”
I frowned.  “Hannah--”
“Don’t tell me it isn’t true, Scarlett, we both know it is.  I’m overly dependent on people and you’re obsessed with fixing them.  We both have flaws.”  I blushed a deep red as she exposed our relationship problems.  I felt Calum’s hand still above his bowl as he listened, and I suppressed a grimace.  He had definitely began figuring out just how much I liked to fix things, how I obsessed over little details until I thought it was perfect.
Hannah pushed her chair away from the table and stood up, shoulders sagging and face crestfallen.  “I think I’m gonna wallow downstairs all day.  You’re welcome to join in the fun, Calum.”  He gave her a small smile as she trudged towards the basement door, and when she finally disappeared downstairs I let out a sigh.
Calum pushed the cereal around in his bowl, frowning thoughtfully.  “You think she’s gonna be okay?”  His question was sincere, and I could detect behind the words just how much he cared for her.
Rolling my lips into my mouth, I shrugged.  “I hope so.  She’s been through a lot of shit recently, and I’d hate to see Ashton abandon her over it.”  I briefly panicked that I had gone too far, made it seem like Ashton was entirely in the wrong.  But if Calum thought this, he didn’t show it.  Instead he just nodded, finishing his cereal quietly.
I checked the clock on the wall.  “I ought to get ready, I have a bus to catch.”  I closed the cereal box and began to get up, but then Calum reached out his arm to stall me.
“Why don’t I drive you?  I have nothing better to do, and you’re probably really tired of riding that dingy bus.”
My lips parted in surprise, but his expression was earnest.  I blinked a few times, at a loss for words.  He merely rolled his eyes and stood up beside me, leaning in close as he said, “What, I’m not allowed to be nice?”  His breath was warm and I felt my body tense up at the proximity of his face.  But then he pulled away with a smirk to put his bowl in the sink.  I exhaled, fidgeting a little as I considered his offer.
“Fine,” I accepted.  “But you better be picking me up, too.”  I quirked my lips up challengingly, and he chuckled at the counter.
“You’ve got yourself a deal,” he replied.  I smiled before turning to head upstairs, thoroughly confused but pleasantly surprised.  I told myself it was only because I didn’t have to catch the bus, not because a certain curly-haired boy was finally being nice to me.
I got ready fast and joined Calum by the front door, following him out to his car.  It was another beautiful day weather wise, and I sighed happily as we climbed into his mustang.
“You better not complain about my music,” he warned as he put an old-fashioned tape into the cassette player.  The car was vintage and had all the old features, something I found charming and very much in character with the owner.  Soft guitar sounds drifted out, and I vaguely recognized the band.  I didn’t say a word as we drove off, enjoying the way the music seemed to match our peaceful mood.
I was almost disappointed when we arrived at the cafe, wishing I could keep driving for hundreds of miles with just Calum and his music and the comfortable quiet.  But this was reality, and I thanked him quickly for the ride before heading in.
Mack had realized a few weeks ago how well Roger and I worked together, and decided to schedule us with the same shifts since we had similar availability.  This meant seeing him every time I worked, something the two of us were definitely fine with.
“Did I see you climbing out of a cherry red sex mobile this morning?” he asked innocently, and I choked on the water I was sipping.
“If you mean Calum’s mustang, then yes,” I told him, rolling my eyes at his insinuation.  “He offered me a ride, how could I have said no?”
Roger smiled evilly.  “I know a perfect way you can thank him,” he said, batting his eyelashes.  I flipped him off with a laugh, trying not to imagine all the possibilities he had in his head.  They were surely all dirty and seductive, and thinking about Calum in a dirty and seductive way was not going to help me do my job.
It was a quicker shift today, ending in the early afternoon.  When I had about a half hour left, I began wondering what Calum was up to all day.  I always wondered this; he didn’t have a job, didn’t go to school.  What did he do all day?  Where did he go?  Did he have other friends, a different life away from us?  I could tell he was full of secrets, and my mind drifted to what they could all be when the front door opened.
“No way,” Roger whispered, causing me to snap out of my daydreaming.  Speak of the devil.
“Hey, Scarlett,” Calum greeted when he walked up the counter.  His smirk was cool and his eyes were hooded, and I bit my lip.  “Thought I’d try some of this coffee your always screwing up.”
I scoffed, and Roger shook his head as he butted into our conversation.  “Oh no, she hasn’t screwed up an order all day.  I want to see how long it will last.”
“Hey!” I protested, smacking his arm.  “I didn’t mess anything up yesterday, either.”
Roger narrowed his eyes.  “Debatable.  The amount of whipped cream you put on that poor man’s hot chocolate yesterday was almost criminal.”
I folded my arms at him.  “You can never have too much whipped cream, Roger.”  He just flipped me off and got back to cleaning the display case.  Turning back to Calum, I flushed.  Having him here was overwhelming; he’d stepped into a part of my life that was entirely my own, and I almost felt like he was invading my privacy.
“Do you know what you want?  Should I recommend stuff?”  I didn’t know why I felt so nervous all of a sudden, trying to tell myself it wasn’t because of the deep brown eyes studying me so intently.
“I like the sound of that whipped cream,” he started.  “Why don’t you pile it on top of a mocha.”  I nodded, punching in his order and accepting his cash with a small smile.  He went to sit at a table by the window, and I forced myself not to stare as I focused on his drink.
I’d made a hundred mochas by now, but this one I really wanted to get right.  I made sure to add the perfect amount of steamed milk, and tried way too hard to make the whipped cream swirl as even as possible.  Roger watched me work, clicking his tongue disapprovingly.
“You sure this is the drink that’ll get you in his pants?”  I almost threw the hot coffee on his face, fighting a smile at his stupid jokes.  I approached the counter and called Calum’s name, presenting the mocha proudly.
“I hope this is satisfactory,” I said as he took the mug and raised it in a mock cheer.  I was slightly disappointed when he sat back down without saying anything, but pushed this feeling aside as I finished my shift.
Calum was waiting for me when Roger and I emerged from the back room after clocking out.  My smile was shy and I hooked my bag over my shoulder nervously.  But Calum’s smirk was oddly comforting, and he held the door for me.
“I thought we’d make a quick pit-stop at the grocery store for more beer,” he informed me, and I knitted my brows together.
“Didn’t you just get beer yesterday?”
“It was only a six-pack,” he defended with a laugh.  “And besides, the guys all needed one after the blow up.”  I nodded, understanding him completely.  If I were Michael or Luke, I’d want to drown my worries too.
Roger appeared behind my shoulder.  “Am I invited on this little road trip?”  My jaw dropped, but he cackled and gave me a good-natured shove.  “Totally kidding, go have fun on your grocery store date.”  I almost tripped him at saying the word date, terrified that it would rub Calum the wrong way.  But I don’t think he even heard, and I breathed a sigh of relief as we got back into his car.
“How was the beer I suggested yesterday?” he asked me, one hand on the wheel and the other resting on his rolled down window.  I admired the way the sun struck his profile, the relaxed posture he drove in.
Licking my lips, I answered, “It was actually really good, probably the best beer I’ve had.  But I’m not that picky when it comes to beer, though.”
He smirked.  “What are you picky about?”
Smiling at his oddly personal question, I considered my answer.  “Well, cereal, as you already know.  I refuse to ever have it with milk.  Other than that...not much, I guess.  I’m fine with most things.”
Calum thought about this for a second, a distant smile on his lips.  “So you’re just so easy-going and carefree, huh?”
I laughed, propping my feet up on the dashboard to reiterate this point.  “Oh, totally.”
We arrived at the store and immediately went for the beer.  Calum pointed out a few good brands, and I pretended to take meticulous notes on his suggestions.  He picked out a case of the kind I bought yesterday, and we brought it back to the car.
He paused after stashing the bag in the backseat.  His expression was clouded, and more protective than it had been all day.  Clearly his walls were back up, but I didn’t know why.  When he finally spoke, my question was answered, “Want to take this somewhere and crack it open?  I don’t know, the park or something?”  He was scared to ask me this, worried I’d say no.  Fear of rejection, I thought.  Interesting, considering all of his arrogant bravado.
I nodded eagerly, hoping to ease some of his nerves.  “That sounds great.  And it’ll give Hannah more alone time I think she really needs.”
The park wasn’t crowded at all, and we found a nice spot up on a hill a little ways.  The shade of a tree provided us relief from the late afternoon sun, and at our vantage point we could watch the people roaming around below.  I laid on the grass, propped up by an elbow as I watched Calum crack open the beers.  As he handed me one we clinked the cans together in a toast, and when I took a sip I felt all of the past few days’ stress leak right out of me.  The breeze, the sun, the fresh air; it was all so cleansing, and I couldn’t harbor any negativity in such a serene place.
Laying next to Calum, I inspected his face, unafraid of him catching me staring.  I took in his full lips, thinking about all the different expressions they produced.  His curly hair fell across his forehead, and I imagined what it would feel like to run my fingers through it.  His eyes were definitely my favorite feature of his; rich brown in color, reflecting light in the dark depths.  If I could, I would gaze into them all day, just to uncover whatever secrets they protected.  Calum was an enigma I was itching to solve, and every day I felt a little bit closer to the truth.
Just as I thought, he caught me staring.  But I didn’t look away, bravely holding his gaze as he confronted me with a look.  A brief smirk crossed his face, before he took a swig of beer and sighed.
“What are you trying to find, Scarlett?”  The question was innocent, but it set off butterflies in my chest.  I liked the way he said my name, almost like it was music on his tongue.  Blushing, I finally did look away and focused instead on the people in the park.
“Oh, I don’t know,” I responded.  “Just trying to figure out all your little secrets, that’s all.”  Something about the atmosphere had me feeling daring, and I hoped he felt the same way.
He laughed.  “You don’t think I’m doing the same thing?”  We met each other’s eyes for a second, and then he added, “Alright, fine.  You tell me something and I’ll tell you something.”
“How democratic of you,” I joked, and he laid back on his elbows.  I thought about what to tell him, sifting through the multitude of secrets in my arsenal.  Deciding to take advantage of what little bravery I had right now, I said, “Okay, I’ll tell you something.”  He shifted his position to face me better, and suddenly I felt nervous.  But I pushed this away, determined to be honest, no matter how much his eyes burned into me.
“You’ve known something is up about me being home from school for a while now, and you’re right.  I’m not on a break: I had to drop out.”  I paused for a second to let him soak this in.  His smirk faded to a frown, but I pushed on.  “And the reason I had to drop out was because I was stone-cold broke.  I couldn’t pay the tuition, so I had to leave.  And the reason I’m broke is...”  I trailed off, wondering if this was taking it too far.  But I wanted Calum to know this.  I didn’t know why I felt this way, why I trusted him all of a sudden.  But I needed him to know what happened to me.  “My parents both died recently, in a car crash.  Everything went to the medical bills to try to keep them alive, but it didn’t work.  And now I’m here, alone, broke, and...”  I laughed morosely.  “And with no idea what I’m doing.”
Calum’s face fell, his eyes filling with sympathy as he opened his mouth to say something.  “Scarlett, I--”
I waved him off.  “I don’t want any pity.  That’s why I kept it to myself, because I didn’t want to be the poor sad girl with dead parents.”  Already I felt Calum’s view of me shifting, and I only hoped he wasn’t seeing a weak, pitiable basket case in front of him.
He sighed, brows low on his eyes as he seemed to be waiting for me to look at him.  When I finally did, he tilted his head.  “Pity and support aren’t the same thing, you know.  Everyone needs help when they go through something hard, it doesn’t mean people see you as weak or pathetic.”
My mouth felt dry as his words soaked in.  I’d never looked at it this way before, and his fresh perspective actually made me feel better.  I guess I hadn’t really let anyone just be there for me, I pushed everyone away.  Smiling meekly, I said, “Now where were you two months ago when I needed to hear that?”
He chuckled. eyes dancing with amusement.  I liked that even though we were talking about such a heavy topic, we kept it light.  For someone I’d always thought was so brooding, Calum had a gentler side that was exactly what I needed in this moment.
I lightly pushed at his arm, leaning on my hand as I faced him.  “Alright, since I just poured out my soul it’s your turn.”  The anticipation of finding out one of his secrets was killing me, and I bit my lip to contain my enthusiasm.
Calum rested the back of his head on his hands so he was gazing up at the cloudy sky.  His lips parted, and I held my breath.
“You’ve probably noticed the lack of shit going on in my life,” he started, and I nodded with a small smile.  I was pleased that this was what he was going to talk about; it was what I was most curious about.  “The reason I’m able to live this way is because of the checks my mother sends every month.  She feels guilty for screwing up my childhood or something, I don’t know.  The money is good so I don’t complain.”
This was a lot of information to process.  I’d had a hunch for a while that Calum’s life was more complex than he let on.  It was interesting to hear about his mother and their apparent estrangement.  My fingers toyed with a few blades of grass as I waited for more of an explanation.
“I haven’t actually talked to her in months,” he admitted, sounding a little surprised himself at the confession.  “Not that I don’t...care about her.”  I noted the way he stumbled, avoiding the word love.  “I do, I want her to be happy.  I just don’t think me being around is good for either of us.”
Even though I had an entirely different view of my parents, this made sense to me.  Sometimes distance is the best thing for a relationship.  I was always close with my mother and father, but that was because they’d supported me my whole life.  I had no idea what Calum went through with is mom, or how they ended up so estranged.
I hadn’t realized he was looking at me, expectant for a response, and I blushed.  “Sorry, I just...it’s nice that you’ve found what works for both of you.  So many people try way too hard and just end up hurting each other.”
He smiled, brows lifting.  “Gotta say I’m surprised.  With all of your psychology books and deep analysis I thought you’d try to tell me to reach out.”
Shrugging, I let a smirk twist across my lips.  “I’m full of surprises,” I replied jokingly.  Truthfully, I did think that Calum reaching out would be a good idea.  Maybe not right now, but in the future when he was more mature and ready to confront his mother he should definitely do it.  He deserved to have a mother, someone who loved him unconditionally.  I wanted him to have a family.
When I glanced back over to him, I gasped lightly.  The way he was looking at me took my breath away; it was as if his brown eyes had pulled back all of my defenses and were staring straight into my soul, my thoughts, my body.  A gravitational pull was tugging at my chest, and for a second I contemplated closing the short distance between us and connecting our bodies.  I was sure he could hear my thunderous heartbeat, and I wanted to reach out and feel his own.
His eyes flitted to my lips for a brief moment, and then he whispered, “We should go.”  He rolled over onto his back and sat up, ending the moment just like that.
We were silent on the drive home, but it was a comfortable quiet I found myself sinking into.  The image of Calum’s face, so close and illuminated by the setting sun, was burned in my eyes as I stared at the road in front of me.  I wanted to kiss him.  I wanted to be the one to make a move, to reach over and do what we’ve both been yearning for.  But I also knew how much it would complicate things, and in a moment that was so blissfully simple, I didn’t want to ruin it.
I thought once we got home we’d both part ways and say nothing.  But as Calum parked in the driveway, switching off the engine and engulfing us in total silence, I held my breath.  He was going to say something, that much I knew.  But about what I couldn’t possibly comprehend.
The interior roof lights cast a thin veil of yellow on his features, and in the small car it felt impossibly tight.  I twisted in the seat, lips pressed together as I waited in suspense.  Calum pushed a hand through his hair, letting the curls bounce above his forehead as he rested his arm on the headrest behind me.
He licked his lips, watching me closely.  “Remember when you said I knew nothing about you?”
I blinked, remembering the night clearly.  I’d hurled the words at Calum in the hopes he’d back off, leave me alone.  Instead he seemed to want to get closer, and now here we were together in his car after spending the whole afternoon together.  “Yes,” I said plainly.  “I remember.”
He looked away, out into the dark distance beyond the window.  “Well, you were right,” he declared, suddenly turning back to face me.  “I don’t have a clue who you are.  But the thing is...I want to find out.”
All of the oxygen had seeped out of the car.  Blood was rushing in my ears, my fingers tingled with nerves.  I felt like I was tilting in the seat, like gravity had flipped and suddenly I was fighting not to float away.  A million thoughts spun through my mind, none of them making sense.  Only one stuck out: I need to get out of this car.
And so I did.  I stuttered something incoherent and slammed the door behind me, practically running to the door then up the stairs to my room.  I tore my jacket off, then my shirt and jeans.  I felt suffocated by the constricting clothes, and pulled on soft shorts and a big tee shirt.  I began pacing across my floor, wondering if I’d just made a huge mistake.  Calum had said something I’d been itching to hear for weeks, without even realizing it myself.  But I couldn’t wrap my head around how we got here.  We fundamentally disliked each other, but somehow we’d poured our hearts out today and crossed into new territory.  I liked the territory, but I was terrified of it blowing up.  All it took was one wrong move for Calum and I to disintegrate, and I was scared of crumbling because of him.
I flopped onto the bed, staring up at the dark ceiling.  The stairs creaked in the hallway, and I felt the door to Calum’s room next door shut.  Having him so close but so far was driving me crazy and not helping me get over my anxiety.  I tossed and turned for what felt like hours, only thinking of him.  His eyes, his lips, his voice.
Before I knew what I was doing my body took over and brought me to my door.  I twisted the door knob, expecting to walk into the pitch black hallway.  Instead I opened it up and was faced by the exact person I couldn’t get off my mind.
I hadn’t even heard Calum come to my door.  But here he was, clad in only a pair of black joggers.  I could barely see his face but I could make out his eyes boring into mine
I don’t know who leaned in first, but within a millisecond our lips connected.  My whole body reacted to his touch, lighting on fire with every skim of his fingers.  My hands went to his neck, his face, his hair.  I pulled him tightly against me, feeling his bare shoulders and running my fingers across his wide back.
His lips molded to mine like clay, his tongue teasing at my mouth as I breathed hard.  Our foreheads bumped together, teeth clashing and tongues dancing as the kiss deepened even more.  His hands ran along my sides, igniting the skin as he went.  I felt his fingers hook under my shirt, sliding up my skin and causing a string of moans to fall from my mouth.  The sounds only encouraged him, and I felt his thumbs brush my exposed breasts.
Our lips tore apart for a second, and I exhaled lightly.  “Calum,” I murmured against his cheek, and he attached his mouth to my jaw.  The sensation was overwhelming as he dragged his lips down my neck, finding a sensitive spot below my ear.  I couldn’t control my heavy breathing, and my knees weakened as he sucked gently on my skin.  I wrapped my arms tighter around his neck for support, melting into his body like butter.
He peppered kisses across my neck to my jaw to my face, kissing my cheeks before reconnecting with my lips.  The kiss had slowed down, softening into a sweet caress that calmed my racing heartbeat.  I traced my fingertips down his neck, resting finally on his bare chest as we disconnected once and for all.  My forehead bumped against his collarbone, his larger height making him rest his chin on the top of my head.
His hands rubbed up and down my arms, and I pressed a feathery kiss to his chest before leaning back.  I tangled my fingers into his, pulling him back into my room.
“Stay,” I whispered, and I heard him close the door behind him.  I fell onto the bed, pulling him beside me so we laid face to face.  He brought the covers up around us, encasing us in warmth.  I was finally breathing evenly again, sleep beginning to pull me under.  The last thing I felt before I went under was the feeling of his arm hooking around my waist and pulling me into him.

Riverdale Season 5 Trailer Thoughts/Breakdown
Yay the trailer is finally here! So excited. Anyway here is my breakdown of the trailer and my initial thoughts and theories. I do want to say real quick as a trigger warning that the trailer did have images of what appeared to be a suicide by hanging and there are images of that in this breakdown (I have put them under a tag) so if this is something you feel will upset or trigger you please be careful. Also obviously there are spoilers.
Firstly they didn’t really give us much new content. Most of the footage was stuff we have already seen and consisted of shots from the videos the voyeur had put out and the characters staring at tv screens. But there were a few new scenes in there for us to over-analyse and go crazy over. Also most of the scenes look like they are pre time jump which to be honest I was expecting because season 5 footage could potentially spoil the ending of what would of been season 4/ the current storyline with the voyeur.
So the first bit of new footage I think is this shot:
Tumblr media
At least I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen it before. It’s clearly Jughead and it looks to me like he’s got a book on his lap (circled in red). Here’s the question I have, is he lighting the match to read the book because there’s no light where ever he is or is he going to burn the book. One theory I have is that from the character description for jughead’s new girlfriend it talks about a book that he’s not writing. Basically he’s struggling to write a book. Maybe this is actually a cleverly placed post time jump scene and he’s frustrated about his fight with his girlfriend over the book and so he burns it. That is the book in his lap is a draft or something of his own book. Maybe he then goes back to Riverdale to start the book over and get new inspiration. But that’s just my best guess of what’s going on here. I mean it might not even be a book in his lap.
Next new scene is this one where Betty and Jughead are talking to Brett in prison:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyone who read my season 4 theory/review posts knows that I think Donna is involved in the whole voyeur plotline and is in fact the leader of a ring of voyeurs I spose you could call it. For me this scene makes me think this is even more likely. Brett says ‘something’s coming and it’s going to hit you like a mack truck.’ So he obviously knows something about the voyeur. Unfortunately I think this might also suggest that Charles could be involved, if anything is going to hit them like a mack truck it would be finding out their brother is out to get them. I really hope thats not the case though. I mean Brett could just be being dramatic right?
Not really sure how I feel about the B*ghead scene. I talked about this in one of my reviews, about how when Betty and Jughead slept together for the first time I was uncomfortable about it because at the time Betty was lying to Jughead about having kissed Archie and to me that just didn’t seem right or fair to Jughead. This is a very similar situation. I feel like if Betty has already told Jughead about the kiss with Archie and they’ve worked it out then fine its another b*ghead sex scene whatever you know, I’m not overly invested in B*ghead but I don’t really mind them either, I’m just bored of them to be honest, so it is what it is. But if she’s still sleeping with him without having that conversation with him then I do think that’s a mistake on Betty’s part and that she isn’t being fair to Jughead. But from the look on Jughead’s face in this shot:
Tumblr media
I think it looks like she does tell him which I am relieved about it even though it’s going to really suck to see Jughead heartbroken like this. In which case if she has told him then this could be breakup sex or it could be Jughead decides he wants to try and make it work and this is like makeup sex. If it is the latter I do think later they will both realise they just can’t make it work and they decide to part before or during the time jump. Though I do want to make it clear no matter what does happen if she does tell him or not that I would never hate on Betty, the same as when she cheated, at the end of the day she’s a teenage girl and she makes mistakes, hopefully she learns and grows from those mistakes, she has time to and the same for Archie too.
So prom looks like it is going to be fun, well at first anyway. It does look like Veronica is going to find out about Betty and Archie at prom which isn’t really new information:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look as excited as I am to see Barchie and the potential of them being explored, and as bored as I am with the current couples it’s still going to be really hard to see Veronica (and Jughead) hurt. I mean look at my poor girl she’s devastated and 100% doesn’t deserve this. But I do feel like the current couples did need to be changed up a bit and breakups are always going to hurt, but it does suck to see.
It looks like more than just relationship drama goes down at prom. There is this scene:
Tumblr media
It’s hard to tell whether this is like on a big screen at prom or whether this happens after prom but either way it looks like someone else is going to die and this is going to be a disturbing scene. What does make me curious is this shot:
Tumblr media
I’m sort of confused by this scene because at first I thought this and the image above were related and there is obviously something happening, some kind of drama but we can’t see what it is. The thing is they don’t look scared. They look more shocked/ surprised. And the guy on the end next to Reggie (apparently he’s a character from Katy Keene but I just know him as Austin from a show called Make it or Break it and honestly its weird seeing him in Riverdale but I digress) he just looks really confused. My theory is that Veronica and Archie are having a fight in the middle of prom after she finds out about the kiss with Betty and Reggie is making that ooh face because Veronica has slapped Archie. I reckon something has caused Betty and Jughead to have already left prom so Jughead won’t find out until later. Another explanation could be that theory that footage of Barchie’s kiss gets shown at prom. Obviously Austin/ Character from Katy Keene is confused because he doesn’t really know anyone there so probably doesn’t have any idea what’s going on.
(Ok so the next part is to do with that trigger warning I mentioned earlier so again please only continue if you are comfortable to do so.)
So we’ve got our first potential shot of the voyeur here wearing an owl mask. That’s not creepy at all.
Tumblr media
The interesting thing though is this shot:
Tumblr media
As you can see cirlced in red this person who appears to have hung themselves is wearing that same owl mask. But I actually think this is a bit of a red herring. I think the top image is Donna, the jacket they are wearing is similar to the jackets she likes to wear and to me the build of the person in the top image is different to the build of the person in the second image. To me the top one looks more feminine and the second more masculine. Though it is hard to tell because of the difference in angles and what not. But my theory is that Jughead and Betty start to get a little too close to uncovering her so she kills someone else to make it look like the voyeur has taken their own life and throw them off. Maybe she takes a page out of Jughead’s book and fakes a death so to speak. Another possibilty is this is a re-enactment of Clifford Blossoms death and like a last message to Riverdale if I’m making sense but then it doesn’t make sense that they are wearing the owl mask and not the cliff one. It does make me wonder who this person is. They’ve got dark hair and they are wearing quite a formal suit but otherwise we don’t have much information to go off. Also I wonder if this is the same person who appears to be killed in the prom video or whether two people are going to be killed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok whoever is standing over Jellybean with a knife better have their running shoes on because I’m coming for them. I don’t think they will hurt Jellybean but I actually think this could be what they use to have FP leave the show. I think the voyeur will release videos of them all sleeping and show that they have been in their house with the knife and that they have the potential of harming them which is really really terrifying and like one of my worst nightmares. I think FP will be like Nah not my little girl and for her safety will take Jellybean and move away from Riverdale. I could see some arguments in the family where some members like jughead and Betty refuse to leave and others want them all to go. Maybe in the end Alice decides to stay to look out for Betty and also maybe help Betty, Jughead and Charles with the investigation and FP takes Jellybean.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From these two images and that image that was released a while back of Archie in the boxing ring it looks like Archie is going to have a boxing match I know an amazing deduction there what can I say I’m a true detective. There’s not really much that can be said about it. I’m not sure why he is having a match, maybe something to do with the navy if he hasn’t already decided to join the army instead? Or maybe its more Hiram Lodge shananigans. Hopefully Archie will win. But it does look like Archie won’t be the only one getting into fisticuffs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like Jughead will be having an altercation with someone as well. I think it might have something to do with the voyeur because you can see a projector in the background with images of houses on them. But I can’t tell who the people in the picture are. If I were to take a guess I would say its possibly that tickle ring. I said in my season 4 theories that I think Terry the ticklemaster is involved in the voyeur plot as he would be able to get the ‘actors’ for the videos. But who knows like I said its hard to see from these pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of the voyeur it looks like the next person they want to mess with is Archie with an re-enactment of the blackhood in the diner. I have a horrible feeling that this is only the end of that video and it will also show someone in a Fred mask getting shot first then we’ll see this image of the blackhood holding Archie at gunpoint. Obviously this is going to be soo upsetting for Archie and is going to bring back up his grief at having lost his father. I feel like this will happen after prom too so I feel like he’s going to have just broken up with Veronica then get home to this video. I think he’ll then go for a run to try and let out some of his emotions and end up at his father’s grave where he’ll have a bit of a break down. I mean poor Archie. I’m going to cry at this scene I just know it.
Tumblr media
So this picture is one of the ones I’m most curious about. Now I’m pretty sure that this is one of Cheryl’s dresses, like I can’t remember where I’ve seen her in it but I am 90% sure I have seen her in it. Also to me this looks like the crypt under their house where she kept Jason and where her uncle was killed. Cheryl wasn’t wearing this dress when her uncle was killed so its not his blood on the dress unless she wore it when getting rid of the body. I did wonder if it was the voyeur’s way of letting Cheryl and Toni know that they knew what they had done. But it does beg the question of why is there blood on the dress. Was Cheryl wearing it when it got the blood on it? Or did the voyeur take it and wear it whilst killing someone then bring it back? One theory I have is maybe someone is messing with Toni and the others and Cheryl goes missing then this dress shows up and it looks like Cheryl has been killed but obviously she won’t be. I am interested to see what this is about.
Ok so the last scene I want to talk about is this one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually think, like the first image, this might be post time jump. Betty’s hair looks a little different here. Although it is pulled back she has got some bits of hair framing her face which is not normal for betty. Usually when her hair is up it is all scraped back. Also I know it sounds odd but she just looks more grown up to me. Also she seems alot more confident in holding a gun now which if she’s been training with the FBI would make sense. As to what is going on in this scene it could be exactly what it appears Betty hears something down stairs and theres some kind of threat down there. But I actually think this might be more of a comic scene. My scenario is as I said I think FP will take Jellybean away from Riverdale. It’s possible that Alice will than go join them after the kids graduate and go to college. I think this scene could be where Betty has come back to Riverdale and is in her old home (from what I can tell from these images it looks like her old house) some freaking stuff has happened in Riverdale since she’s arrived back you know a murder here and murder there and she’s hiome alone when she hears a noise downstairs, investigates gun drawn and its actually Alice showing up in the middle of the night unexpectedly. The both get a scare.
So what did you guys think of the trailer? Are you excited for season 5? Do you have any theories on what you think will happen?

Why Solar Opposites Season 2 Brought The Wall Back
https://ift.tt/3m9sZ47
This interview contains SPOILERS for SOLAR OPPOSITES seasons 1 and 2.
Mike McMahan and Justin Roiland’s sci-fi animated sitcom Solar Opposites is technically about a family of aliens stuck on planet Earth, learning lessons about how to love one another while, they try to repair their spaceship. However, as the first season progressed, the show slowly revealed it was simultaneously telling another story.
One of the aliens, Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone), has a habit of shrinking down humans and imprisoning them in a wall-sized terrarium. In a surprising twist, we get to see that the tiny humans have actually formed their own Mad Max-ian style society in there. We learn more and more about this society until, seven episodes into the first season, Solar Opposites ditches the aliens for an entire episode set inside he Wall.
It ended up being just about everyone’s favorite thing in the show.
“We didn’t invent (the concept of) a show in a show, but I think we’re maybe the only show where the show in a show is more popular than the show,” McMahan tells Den of Geek.
When Hulu offered us the chance to speak with McMahan Justin Roiland about season two, we knew we’d better get in plenty of questions about The Wall or the Internet would come after us. Luckily, Mike and Justin love the Wall, too.
“We both love it because there’s nothing else, there’s no other project we work on, where we get to do the Wall-type stories and there’s no other show that does it like that,” says Mike.
Justin explains how, when pitching the series to other networks, Justin “wanted to come in there kicking the doors down and screaming about this concept and how fucking awesome it is,” but they were advised to downplay the eccentric, high-concept Wall plot.
Mike adds, “We originally thought that there was a chance that Solar would live on broadcast, would look like a big family Sunday night Animation Domination-type show. And when the show didn’t get picked up to series the first time, we then got a second hit at it with Hulu. And when we were in that pitch, there was no hiding it. We were like, ‘Also there’s gonna be a fucking ton of this Wall story.” And they were like, ‘Fine! Do whatever you want!’”
The Wall was part of the series from very early on. Justin explains:
“Mike and I developed the sort of broad strokes for the show. I actually don’t know the exact order of things, but I just know it was around the E3 that Bethesda announced Fallout Shelter [June 2014]. I was playing Fallout Shelter, I was doing a lot of VR stuff around this time [Roiland also has a video game company specializing in VR called Squanch Games], and working a lot on Solar, and just kind of brainstorming. Fallout Shelter was definitely the inspiration for the Wall ‘cuz I was just looking at it zoomed out.”
Mike interjects, “For me, it was like, Tiny Tower, was another app, an iOS game I was playing, too.”
This seemed like a surprising origin for the Wall until I Google Image searched both of these games and the similarities became immediately clear.
As for how the Wall storyline evolved in season two, Mike says the mantra was “Never go back on the Wall. Keep the story going, but don’t just repeat. I think you see that pretty clearly. We get really weird.”
Solar Opposites uses the Wall as a vehicle for riffing on dramatic film and television tropes in a more sincere way than the crazy alien sitcom plots are capable of. The first season was an homage to dystopian cinema, culminating in a revolution. As Mike said, season two absolutely does not repeat what came before it. This time the running Wall storyline focuses on a new character, played by Sterling K. Brown, who is hunting down a serial killer in the Wall.

Solar Opposites Season 2 Review (Spoiler-Free)
By Joe Matar
As in the first season, the seventh episode is a Wall-centric one that takes things in an unexpected direction by taking place almost entirely outside of the Wall, following the still alive and still tiny The Duke (Alfred Molina) and Cherie (Christina Hendricks), as they try to survive the wilds of the aliens’ backyard. To complicate things more, Cherie is pregnant with Tim (Andy Daly)’s baby. This climaxes in one of the most simultaneously thrilling, bizarre, and inspired scenes Solar Opposites has ever done, as the shrunken Cherie ends up giving birth inside a Pez dispenser as normal-sized alien Jesse (Mary Mack) ejects Pez candies into her mouth one after another, unknowingly getting ever closer to devouring Cherie and her about-to-be-born baby.
When I mention how totally weird this scene is, Mike raises his arms in triumph and shouts:
“Yes! I love that Pez dispenser birth! It’s so fucking weird!” He also points out that, adding to the weirdness is that during this sequence Jesse is singing some kind of counterargument song to TLC’s “No Scrubs.”
“She’s singing like a pro-scrubs song. Yeah, that’s a crazy sequence.”
However, Mike points out that the unique and odd blend of drama and comedy we get from the Wall needs to be tempered with the sillier antics of Solar Opposites’ lead alien characters.
“Everybody who’s yelling, like, ‘Oh, I wish this show was all the Wall,’ that’s like somebody being like, ‘I wish Twinkie was all the cream.’ Like, you wouldn’t fucking like it or else you’d be out buying cans of whipped cream and eating that.
“The Wall is all about balance. The (alien) stuff is so tied to the Wall and we know what we’re doing with that. It’s like, how much of the Wall can we get away with to make it feel like you want it all the time? And that’s part of the fun of it, too.”
I mention that it’s cool how the Wall provides a structure for the series now, serving as a C-plot underneath the other storylines, and culminating with an all-Wall seventh episode in each season.
“Wait for season three,” Mike teases, “’cuz we like to fuck with expectations!”
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
The first two seasons of Solar Opposites are now streaming on Hulu.

After doing the posts with the name meanings, I wanted to do some analysis of how the characters are named on the show, since there tends to be a lot of significance when it comes to what the characters’ names are. Some of the literal name meanings don’t really have any significance, but some do. And there is a lot that can be reflective of someone’s personality in names that they have chosen for themselves as well.
Tumblr media
Andi - It’s pointed out at one point that it’s not a nickname for anything, but just simply Andi. It’s a cute, original name that’s unique just like the character. Since Bex prefers to go by a nickname rather than her actual name, it makes sense that she would choose a unique name for her daughter (and can you actually see Bex naming her daughter ‘Andrea?’).
Buffy - Her name is pretty self explanatory. She’s named after a strong female character known for kicking butt. When we’re first introduced to her, just that bit of pop culture context gives you an idea of what her character is going to be like. It also suggests that at least one of her parents is a bit of a nerd, and it makes me sad that we never got to meet her dad for that reason.
Cyrus - His name means ‘of the sun,’ and out of all the characters, his name meaning is probably the most relevant to him as a character and likely done on purpose. There are several other minor characters whose story lines directly relate to his, and their name meanings are very relevant, which leads me to believe that his name choice was deliberate as well. He generally has a sunny, cheerful disposition, is always trying to be positive, and is one of the only characters that is rarely portrayed in a bad light.
Jonah - His name means ‘dove,’ and it’s actually pointed out in the context of the show, which I thought was interesting, since nobody else’s ever is. Doves are used throughout various cultures and religions, but generally are used to represent peace. Jonah is definitely a peaceful guy, and just wants everyone to get along.
Bex - Her full name is Rebecca, but she makes it very clear that she doesn’t like it. Rebecca means ‘to tie or bind.’ It’s too much to get into here, but Bex is a driving force in the show and many of the major story lines happen as a result of her. In a sense, her presence ties a lot of characters and stories together.
Throughout the show, she reinforces that she wants to be called by her nickname, which is a more unique and unusual name than Rebecca, which is pretty reflective of her personality. She likes to stand out and be different and doesn’t like to conform. However, she will allow someone to call her Rebecca if it means she gets extra food, which also says a lot about her character.
Bowie - I wasn’t in the fandom when it was revealed that his real name is Steven, and it’s something that I think is kind of hilarious, and it isn’t talked about enough. Steven is such a typical guy’s name, and it doesn’t fit him as a person at all. Obviously, Bowie is a chosen nickname after a famous musician, and it’s definitely a unique and unusual name, which reflects his personality perfectly (and it just goes to show that he and Bex are perfect for each other in that regard). We never learn his dad’s name, but his mom also has an unusual nickname, so it clearly runs in the family.
Cece - Her name choice is relevant very early on in the series. When Andi can’t call her ‘Mom’ anymore, she has to choose something else and ‘Grandma’ is not an option. Celia is a more formal name, and definitely fits her character early on in the series. With her choosing to revert to her nickname when she was younger and lot more freewheeling (as is suggested with the bikini scene), it starts down the path of her character development where she goes from being uptight and even cold, to the goofy, fun loving character that we see dancing in the dinosaur costume during the finale (and now I want to do a whole character analysis on Cece).
Amber - Amber was a tough one. Her name is in reference to either the color or the gemstone, both of which are pretty self-explanatory but not really a reference to her character. There are a lot of different ways that amber is used in various cultures, with different meanings attached. One source suggested that the actual element itself helped to boost confidence. There are a lot of references to how it represents the sun. There wasn’t anything that really related to her character, and hers is the only name that I struggled to find a meaning for.
Marty - I’m assuming that his full name is Martin, which means ‘warlike’ and originates from Mars, the Roman god of war. Considering how competitive he is, this is a pretty accurate name for him. Don’t know if it was deliberate, but it fits pretty well. Also, he’s another character that chooses his own nickname: Marty from the Party. This speaks more to his nature as a goofy, lighthearted kind of guy.
TJ - Oh, boy. With the fandom speculation around what TJ stood for, his name is probably the most discussed out of everyone. And I need to know what Luke Mullen’s thought process was for this, and how much of TJ’s story line was planned in advance, because there’s a lot going on there and it all works together. So, obviously both parts of his name were after famous musicians. They were both unusual names, which is why TJ was embarrassed to tell anyone (and why it was such a big deal that he trusted Cyrus with it.)
Since Luke got to pick, did they always have the idea that his parents were really into music and his mom was a piano teacher, and that TJ would one day reveal that he could play piano as well? Because Luke managed to pick a name that was a piano player with an unusual first name that was also somehow a Shrek reference. I need answers.
Also, Jagger, but I don’t know if there’s any deeper meaning to that one.
Iris - Her whole purpose on the show was to be Cyrus’ girlfriend and help him realize that he’s gay. She’s named the character from Greek mythology, who is the goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. In a sense, she’s there to send Cyrus the message that he’s not attracted to girls, and instead is attracted to guy. Also, rainbows.
Plus, she has a very sunny and upbeat personality, and is a little bit like a human rainbow. I can’t help but believe that her name choice was very deliberate. The fact that it also rhymes with Cyrus is pretty awesome too.
Kira - Oh, boy again. Other people have pointed out that her name is the female variation of Cyrus. This is the other name that I believe was deliberately chosen. It’s just too big of a coincidence to be otherwise. When researching this, I also found that if you’re considering the Irish version of her name, it comes from their word for ‘black.’ In contrast to Cyrus’, ‘of the sun,’ they are literally complete opposites of one another, dark and light. Considering the fact that their personalities are also opposites, and TJ ultimately has to choose between them, it’s some pretty awesome symbolism.
I just think it’s really cool how deep I was able to go with some of these name meanings. Some of them  (Cyrus, Iris, and Kira) seemed to be deliberately chosen with the name meanings in mind, in relation to the character’s personalities and even the story lines. Others, like Bex, Bowie, and Cece are names chosen by those characters that are a reflection of who they are as people and how they want to represent themselves to the world. A few of them I may have read more into than was intended, but it was still fun to do. It just goes to show how different Andi Mack is from other shows like it, since there’s so much meaning in the writing and creation of the characters.
Also, I need Luke to explain everything.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Stolen (7x10)
I've got to admit, I get a little lots in the weeds with this whole Inhumans plot, and I feel like it's less connected to the things about the season that I've actually enjoyed up to this point?
Cons:
Like, I'm sorry, but so much screen-time was used on Gordon and on time-streams and on Nathaniel Malick, and I just don't really give a crap. It feels so disconnected from everything. The most compelling part here is Daisy's family connection, to Kora and to Jiaying, and that gets less screen-time than a young version of a future-villain (John Garrett) who doesn't have any emotional resonance in the story anymore. I don't have a problem with any of the pieces here, but the combination/balance felt off, if that makes sense.
Actor availability aside, every episode that I watch, I keep thinking how much richer it would be if Fitz were there. Iain is the most talented actor on the show, and he brings a real dynamism to many of the other characters, and as much as I've been having fun with this season, I definitely do miss him in a very real way. This episode, since it was so time-heavy on elements that didn't interest me, I feel like I missed him more than ever.
Pros:
The emotional, character-driven stuff is where this show really soars, so it's no surprise that those parts of the episode were my favorite.
Daisy and Jiaying's relationship, the way they can't be honest with each other, the way they talk about Daisy's mom, without Jiaying realizing the truth, and later she finds it out, her horror at the thought of hurting Daisy... these parallel narratives where the timelines are breaking down, where Kora might have been dead in the timeline where Daisy and Jiaying originally met... It's this story of a woman who tries to be a mother and fails at it, not once but twice. And yet it's still horrifying and tragic when she dies, when Daisy has to fight to avenge her mother, who she has just lost for the second time, without ever really having the chance to know her.
And there are so many other amazing elements in this episode. You've got Elena showing off her new power upgrades in a really fun slow-mo scene, you've got Mack being a good leader but also letting go of the reins and stepping back on his protectiveness.
Also... Daisy and Daniel are cute. I discussed this a lot in discussing last week's excellent installment, but it bears repeating. They really are cute. And Simmons picking up on it was everything I could have asked for.
Speaking of Simmons, we get some growing tension here as Daisy reveals how freaked out Simmons was when she remembered whatever she's been blocking. She and Deke have a conversation about assumptions, about her blind faith that Fitz has been steering the jumps the whole time. What if that's not the case? What if Fitz is dead and it just hurts too much to think about it? I love me some good Fitzsimmons angst, but the part about this scene that really moved me was Deke's reaction. He was so horrified at the thought that Fitz might be dead. Deke's loyalty to his grandparents is really quite touching, even though it's been played for laughs a lot of the time.
This review is kind of short, I do apologize, but like I said, my attention was just not grabbed by the main shenanigans going on, for the most part. The ending is compelling - we've got Simmons kidnapped, the plane hijacked... escalating stakes for sure. It looks like next week we'll see Kora team up with the rest of the gang, which could be... interesting, I guess? We've only got three episodes left. I hope I feel happy at the end of the day!

HSMTMTS 1x08 Review
The Tech Rehearsal was a great ep. Let’s dig in!
Great Rini scenes tonight that did some heavy lifting to get them back to a place where they can almost be open with their feelings. Richard Bowen and Nina Salazar- Roberts being the reason the other goes by Nini and Ricky? Reader, that’s the cutest shit I’ve ever seen. The show really brought out the big guns with them knowing each other since Kindergarten. I think most of the casual audience is now shipping Rini, if they hadn’t already, so mission accomplished for the writers
Tim said on instagram that the writers wanted to show that Ricky and Nini had known each other since Kindergarten and it makes sense to use the Troyella rooftop scene and Gabriella’s line about meeting someone in Kindergarten and just becoming friends and use that to tie it all together. But it does somewhat conflict with Kourtney and Nini’s convo in 1x05 that made it sound like Nini only met Ricky in 7th grade. Now it’s true that Kourtney may have just meant it in the sense that 7th grade was when Nini started to have feelings for Ricky but if that’s the case then the writing should have been more clear
As Nini sang in All I Want, EJ is perfect on paper and in Miss Jenn’s notes she wrote that EJ was the perfect Troy on paper; it’s like poetry it rhymes
This is the second ep in a row where a main cast member has been missing. I do wonder if the writers felt that they had done too much work with Rina and keeping Gina off screen was the easiest way to set up a return to Rini. The writers have never been subtle when it comes to ending ships; when it came time to remove EJ as Nini’s love interest they quickly villainized him. I don’t think they want to undo the good work they’ve done redeeming Gina so keeping her off screen is the next best thing
EJ and Carlos had a fun dynamic. EJ trying to emote was so funny as was him stealing Miss Jenn’s notes, it really is his signature move. Matt Cornett does really well playing a dope. I liked that he gave Carlos a confidence boost. Nice to hear Carlos speaking Spanish
Also we now know that Carlos Surname is Carlos Rodriguez. Rodriguez, which means son of Roderick and originated from the Visigoths who conquered Spain, is the 4th most common surname in Spain but it also seems likely that the writers had never decided on Carlos’ last name and just gave him Frankie’s last name which is lazy
EJ Caswell is suffering from Lucas Friar and Jonah Beck syndrome; the handsome, athletic, and kind of ditzy love interest for the main girl who really doesn’t have much else going on when they’re not being shipped with the main girl. Lucas never really got much development but the writers could rely on Farkle to help balance out the show and in S3 the GMW became the Riley and Maya show so it didn’t really matter what Lucas got up to anyways. Andi Mack suffered greatly from never developing Jonah, especially in S3 once he was no longer Andi’s love interest his plot line was a total trainwreck. What made things worse is that the the writers couldn’t build up Cyrus like the GMW writers could build up Farkle since Cyrus’ story was restricted because he was gay. Luckily HSMTMTS has plenty of main characters and is less restricted so it doesn’t drag the show down so much that EJ is just kind of there. I also wonder if the fact that EJ is a senior plays a role in this, sure they can do S2 as the spring musical but what about S3 when EJ would be graduated? If he won’t be on the show long term then there’s no real pressure to develop him or give him that much to do
Big Red appearing behind Miss Jenn was the funniest moment of the ep for me. I also love every time we hear an adult refer to Big Red as Big Red because it’s just so silly
Big Ashlyn (I think that’s their shipname) remains cute. Very smooth of Ashlyn to use Big Red’s compliment to flirt with him
Loved The Role of a Lifetime, Lucas did great, nice little nod to Kate having played Glinda, and loved the ‘’contractually obligated dream sequence’’ line
Interesting motif of ruins tonight. The El Rey theatre is in ruins, on stage the backdrop is a ruined Roman city, and Miss Jenn must face the fact that her acting career and dreams are in ruins before she can start rebuilding her life
Dara can really sing, it’s hard to believe that Kourtney was just supposed to be a one off role. I thought her initial reaction to Nini potentially leaving was realistic but I’m not sure her calling the Dean to come and watch Nini perform was the right move to make it up to Nini
I liked the little Seb and Kourtney interaction. I know there’s been a lot of speculation that they’re setting up a genderfluid Seb story line but I’m deeply skeptical that’s something Disney would allow. And if they were willing to do that then I don’t think they would have allowed Seb to become a main character in S2
I really liked that Gina told Ricky via text that she would have to leave earlier than planned and that Nini told Kourtney and Ricky that she was interested in going to YAC. It was awful in Andi Mack when Buffy left early without telling her friends and then ghosted them for what was supposed to be two months in universe and it was weird that Andi never told any of her friends about SAVA so I’m glad HSMTMTS isn’t making the same mistakes
Looking Ahead:
Just for a Moment sounds great, Joshua and Olivia did such a great job. It’s great that Tim is giving the actors a chance to write their own songs, I hope we see more of it in future seasons. From a video Joshua shared on twitter we can see that they were working on the song during the filming of 1x02. The song must have been selected before 1x08 was written since Nini’s line that it was just a moment is clear set up for the song
The YAC dean is in the audience, does Nini flee and its Ricky who finds her which is why EJ is singing part of breaking free? Or is Ricky gone because he sees his mom in the audience?
How Gina’s move gets undone will be interesting to see. For Andi Mack at least they could say that government cutbacks led the Driscolls to return but if Gina’s mom has to follow natural disasters then it wouldn’t be so easy to just move her back to SLC
The show is flirting with disaster with the YAC plot. If Nini gets in then she will inevitably have to eventually return to East High and in the meantime she’ll be cut off from all the other characters and whatever focus YAC gets will necessarily take away from whatever is going on in East High. There’s a reason Andi Mack only introduced the SAVA plot in the final few eps, there would have been no way to actually pull that off if the series was going to continue
I really do hope we get something with Seblos in the final two eps. 1x05 was great and I’m happy that they were able to do so much textual stuff already but that shouldn’t be an excuse to not touch on it further. I’m sure that with Seb being a main in S2 we’ll get more but we need more now in S1
Until next week  ep Wildcats

As usual, you’re running late. You’ve had this internship for six months now and you maybe made it on time three times. It didn’t matter if you were supposed to be there in the morning or the afternoon – like today. You never made it on time. No one seemed to care. It’s not like the artists who recorded at the studio were ever on time either, but you knew that if you kept it up, you were going to lose your internship. It was hard enough getting people at school to take you seriously, given how you were the only female in a swarm of males, and you knew the business would be hard enough for you to break in to.
“You’re lucky you’re cute, Y/N,” Jack jokingly fusses with his loud, booming voice when you run in. “I’d have gotten rid of anyone else by now.” You glare at him and flip him off as you get some water to drink, trying to look into the recording room. “They’re not here yet. Calm down.”
They being Queen. Your first big test. To say your nerves were shot is an understatement. Not because you’re a big fan – you think they’re alright – but because this is the first big named anything Jack is letting you work on, even if you are just a lowly intern who will probably only be responsible for getting food and drinks and cleaning up the mess after they leave.
The producer was the first to show up – Mack, he said to call him – and he and Jack disappear into the recording room. You? Well, you were told to sit out front and wait for the rest of them to come. Just like a good intern. And just like the cute, good intern you are, you say nothing about your frustrations, keeping them bottled up instead and making sure you always let Jack know how much you appreciate the opportunity.
Finally, the door opens. Finally, you think, you’ll be able to do more than just sit up here, twiddling your thumbs. You recognize them instantly. You quickly stand up and introduce yourself to them and their manager, who doesn’t seem to like your presence. “They gave us a girl!” Freddie exclaims. “Finally, someone to take care of us!” You raise your brow and smirk at him and he throws his hand on your shoulder. “I’m just joking, darling. I don’t know what your job is.”
“Can it be called a job if I’m not getting paid?” you crack. “Because I’m just the intern.”
“The intern?” Roger quips. “You’re not here for…” He stops speaking as soon as John slaps him in the back of the head. “I was not going to say anything! I didn’t know if she was a secretary or something.”
“I’m in college. For recording engineering,” you say rather bluntly. “Not all of us non-penis owners have to be secretaries or housewives.”
“Oh, you’re fun,” Freddie says with a grin as he throws his arm around your shoulder and tugs you in. “And the cutest little thing…” He takes notice of the glare you’re shooting at him. “Own your beauty, darling. Use it to your advantage while you can. You can do your feminist routine after you turn 40.” You start to giggle. He’s impossible not to like.
“Alright, Fred,” Brian groans. “Don’t want to scare her off so soon.”
“Yeah, we have hours left before that should happen,” John chuckles.
“Did we forget we’re here to record an album? Not stand around and chat with some tart?” Paul, the manager, fusses. “I’m sorry,” he says to you with sarcasm oozing from his voice. “Some intern.”
You take a deep sigh and point down the hall. “The studio is down there to the left,” you tell them. “Everybody’s already in there.”
They all start to walk down the hall, except for Brian. “We all loathe him,” he tells you from behind. “Except Fred for some reason. Just ignore him.” You turn around and give him a thankful smile. “And for what it’s worth, I think it’s quite brave of you to get into this male dominated line of work. Not many would.”
“Hardly brave. More like I have a hard head and won’t let anyone tell me I can’t do something.”
“Most brave people have hard heads.”
“There’s always an exception to every rule. For instance, most people who study math and physics don’t play in a rock band,” you giggle.
“Ah, and she’s clever, too.” He flashes you a grin and you both walk down the hall.
Tumblr media
“It doesn’t sound right,” Mack complains as you sit next to him the next week in the studio. “Something’s off.”
“It’s too muddy,” you tell him as you reach over and turn down the bass on the mixing console. “And the guitar reverb is a bit much.” He looks at you strangely and you hurry and sit back down. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean…”
“No, no,” he smiles. “You’re right.”
You both turn around and look at Brian, who clearly doesn’t agree with your assessment. “I think the reverb is just fine.”
“It could be toned down just a little,” you tell him. “Unless that’s the sound you’re going for!” you quickly say. “You’re the artist, not me.”
He smiles and sits next to you. “And you’re the one who’s here to make me sound good on a record.”
“That’s it? No arguing?” Roger laughs. “No complaining? No fussing?” He pats you on your shoulder, still laughing. “This man never backs down that easy.”
“It’s because she’s cute,” Jack chimes in. “She gets away with everything because she’s cute.”
“She is cute, yes, but she also may be right,” Brian says, immediately realizing what he said and he starts to get flustered. You’re feeling pretty flustered too, to be honest, and you start to quietly giggle. “Any other thoughts, Y/N?” he asks.
“The toms could be tuned a smidge more,” you turn and tell Roger. “At least from what I heard in the live room. I haven’t listened to the raw cut yet.” Then you turn to Freddie. “And your vocals were spot on, of course, but I think tomorrow we’ll have to take a few minutes and move the mic around to find the sweet spot. It did sound better when it was in the back corner yesterday.”
“And what about my muddy bass?” John asks with a smirk.
“Your bass was fine, but we should adjust that mic tomorrow too. Maybe move a little further back.” You start to get a little uncomfortable with everyone looking at you, all seeming to be shocked by your knowledge, and your voice starts to drift. “But that can always be adjusted in mixing.” You flash a shy grin. “I’ll shut up now.”
“Well I think you’ve been a great help,” Mack tells you, smiling as he stands up and stretches his arms, looking at his watch. “It’s almost midnight and I promised my wife dinner. That won’t happen, so I have to find something else to satisfy her.” Everyone tells him goodbye, and Jack follows him out the door, leaving you with the four band members.
Brian snuck back into the live room and started to fiddle with his guitar. “See what you’ve done?” Freddie giggles. “I hope you don’t plan on leaving anytime soon because Mr. Perfectionist is at work now.”
“Yeah, soon you’ll learn to just fix everything in mixing,” John laughs.
“Well, I’m not staying. I’ll fix my toms tomorrow,” Roger chuckles. “Anyone who wants a ride better come.” Everyone gathers, except Brian, because he doesn’t know what’s going on. “I’ll get him,” Roger groans.
“Leave him be,” you say. “I’ll make sure he gets home. He’s busy.” After the others leave, you sit behind the mixing desk and watch him work. You can’t hear anything that’s going on. The mics had been turned off already, but still you watch. You watch the way he intensely listens to whatever sounds he’s making, but especially the way his fingers glide along effortlessly. Something about those hands… You’ve been watching them all week. After about a half hour of deep concentration, he looks up and sees you looking and smiles quite shyly.
He puts his guitar down and walks out. “You’re still here because of me?”
“All part of the job,” you shrug. He comes and sits next to you, a smile on his face. “So while you were in there I actually adjusted the… What?” you giggle, feeling a bit nervous by his attention.
“Nothing,” he smiles. “You’re just so passionate about all of this technical stuff. It’s nice to watch.”
“You’ve been in there for 30 minutes. That’s…”
“That’s obsessive. Not passionate.” You start to giggle again. It drives you crazy. They all make you giggle, but Brian? He makes you do that stupid giddy schoolgirl giggle and it’s embarrassing. He doesn’t even have to say anything. All he has to do is look at you and you fucking giggle. “I save my passion for other things,” he winks.
“If you weren’t passionate about your music, you wouldn’t be here,” you tell him, giving him a side-eyed glance.
He leans over close to you as you turn off the mixing board, so close you can hear his breath in your ear. Your heart starts to flutter and you don’t know what’s going on. “You have something on your collar,” he says as he reaches a hand up and picks whatever it is off. You turn and look at him and he smirks. “Got it.”
You smile a shy smile and manage to stifle the giggle you feel boiling up. “Thank you,” you say quietly. You swear the two of you sit there for minutes, just smiling and looking at each other, but it really wasn’t that long. You hurry and clear your throat and back away. “Should we get you home now?” You stand up and he follows, and you walk out to your car after locking everything up. “I know it’s nothing fancy,” you say to him when you reach your car, pretty embarrassed that you’re about to drive Brian May around in your old Jeep handed down to you from your father. “But she’s done me well so far, so I can’t get rid of her anytime soon.”
“I’ve never actually rode in one of these before,” he tells you, seeming to be oddly excited about it. Once you both climb in and you start the engine, he looks at you with his mouth dropped open. “I don’t have my keys,” he says. You start to turn the engine off but he stops you. “No, they’re not inside. I left them in Rog’s car.”
“Ah, then I guess we’re going get them. Where’s he staying?” you ask, but Brian’s face is kind of blank.
“I have no idea,” he says. He’s lying. He knows exactly where Roger is staying. He knows where everyone is staying, but you don’t know that. You believe him. “I don’t have my wallet either,” he groans. “This is terrible,” he chuckles.
You give him an amused look before you start laughing. “It’ll be fine. You can come slum it at my place if you want. I have an extra room.” You look over to him and he’s smirking. “It’s not exactly high class, but I promise I don’t have cobwebs and bugs everywhere. And I can also promise you nice ambient noises. Police and ambulance sirens are quite soothing to fall asleep to.” He looks somewhat horrified and you start to laugh. “I’m kidding. It’s not so bad. It’s not Malibu, but it’s not bad.” He nods his head and you set off for your apartment.
When you walk inside you hear music coming from upstairs. Well, it’s supposed to be music, but your neighbor isn’t the apt guitar player he thinks he is. “Ah, one of the perks of having a first floor apartment,” you groan. “He’ll stop eventually.”
He’s amused. “How do you get any sleep?”
“Easy,” you grin. “Can’t hear it from my bedroom.”
“Maybe I should go up and help him,” he jokes.
“You don’t want to do that. I tried once and was stuck there for hours.”
“Oh? You play?”
“A little,” you say. “Nothing spectacular, but I know the difference between a G and G6, so…”
“Any other secrets you’re hiding?”
“I can tie a cherry stem with my tongue.” Why did you just say that? You want to crawl in a hole and cover yourself with the dirt.
“Oh yeah?” he grins. You regret saying that. Kind of. You don’t know. But he inches closer to you and your breath catches in your throat. You can’t look up at him, not on your own fruition, so he helps you by holding his hand under your chin and lifting your head. “Does that really mean what they say it means?” he asks, grin still on his face.
And now you can’t control anything. You can’t control your breathing. You can’t control your movements. You can’t control your words. “I haven’t had any complaints before,” you murmur. You clear your throat and back away, snapping out of his hypnotic gaze. “Want me to show you to your room?” you ask, trying hard to end whatever is going on right now.
“No,” he whispers, still grinning.
“Umm… anything to drink?”
“No.” That grin still hasn’t left his face.
“Hungry?”
“Very,” he tells you, his tone soft and soothing. He moves back close to you, picks your chin up with his fingers again, and leans down to give you the softest, sweetest kiss you’ve ever had.
Oh, you love it. And you feel the heat rising up in your body, but you can’t do this. You shouldn’t do this. So you back away, taking a few steps back and regain your composure. “I don’t know if this is a good idea,” you tell him.
The look on his face is apologetic, almost guilty even. “I’m sorry…”
“No! Don’t be sorry!” you tell him. “I just don’t know if we should…” He’s grinning at you again, and your voice drifts off before you can explain why it’s not a good idea. Probably because you can’t think of a single reason why you don’t want to. “Oh, fuck it,” you groan, and rush over to him, pull his face down to yours, and start to kiss again. But you hurry and pull back again and turn your back to him, trying to walk away. But you can’t.
“Don't tell me you've never thought about me,” he says in your ear from behind you. “I’ve thought about you. I can’t stop thinking about you. I knew I wanted you the first time I saw you.”
You feel his breath on the back of your neck as he slips both arms around your sides. His palms find your stomach as he caresses you through your shirt while kissing one of your ears. Your eyes close, enjoying his touch. One of his hands finds the bottom hem of your shirt and slips underneath, his skin feeling hot against yours as he rubs and explores you.
You lean back against him, bending an arm upward to curl your hand around the back of his neck, subtly encouraging him to kiss your neck. He does, and it sends tingles through your whole body. His free hand moves beneath the waist of your pants, cupping your sex, his middle finger pushing the thin cotton material of your undies between your labia, creating friction against your clit.
“Still don’t think we should?” he growls in your ear. “Do you want me to stop?”
“No,” you whisper. “Don’t stop.”
He gently pushes you to lean forward on the back of the sofa, still standing, as he slowly pulls down your pants and undies down in one move. Assuming your foreplay is over and expecting him to mount you from behind, you’re surprised when you feel something wet poking around back there. "Brian?" You look over your shoulder and see him kneeling behind you. "What are you...? Oh my god…”
He pushes the bottom of your shirt over the small of your back and sticks his face between your legs. You’re bending over the back of the couch at your waist, but keep your legs straight, spreading them so he has easier access. Before you can fully comprehend what’s going on, Brian has his tongue lapping around your wetness and two fingers inserted. “Oh, shit…” you groan. “Shit…” That’s all you can get out of your mouth. You’re concentrating too hard not only on the bliss he’s creating right now with his tongue, but you’re making sure not to let your knees give out. Shivers travel up your spine every time you feel his tongue lap at your juices. His knuckles keep bumping and dragging against your clit as he fucks you with his fingers, making you whimper even more. "Oh shit," or "oh fuck," you keep saying, unable to vocalize much else while being so gloriously assaulted.
An orgasm burns through you like a fever, causing you to go completely non-verbal and pant out sharp gasps. Your head swirls with dizziness - it’s a good thing the couch is there to support you. His attention on you stops for a moment and you hear him unzip his pants. After quickly gathering your wits, you turn around and quickly take off your shirt.
"I need to be inside you," he murmurs, grabbing your neck and pulling you into a hard kiss. You nod wantonly, willing to give him anything he wants, and kiss the corner of his mouth. What you don't realize is that he meant he wants to be inside you right away. He eases you around to the front of the sofa and lays you down before hovering over you between your legs. You wrap your arms around his torso to keep him close as his cock slides slowly into your sheath as you both groan in unison.
He starts fucking you slow but deep, his face tucked between your shoulder and neck. A steady, rhythmic, hard humping keeps on as you kiss passionately throughout, his occasional attention diverted to your jaw line or neck, before returning his lips to yours. Your soft gasps fill the living room each time he would speak. “My cock feels good inside you, doesn’t it?” he asks.
“Yes,” you breathlessly answer. “It feels good.”
“You’re a dirty girl, aren’t you?” he groans. “Letting me fuck you. Dirty, dirty girl.” You were close, so close, with your bodies pressed together and your limbs entwined. His thrusts start to get faster, and he grabs your leg, pulling it over his shoulder.
You grab the hair at the back of his head and force him to look at you. “Look at me,” you tell him. “Look at me while you fuck me, Brian.” He doesn’t want to. “I said look at me,” you sneer, pulling his head up. Now he’s locked in a gaze with your eyes, and he can’t look away. Not now.
“You’re beautiful,” he breathily whispers. “Fuck…”
“Harder,” you tell him. “Go harder.” And he does. As hard as he can go. You shift your hips up, making sure his cock dives as deep as it can go. “Yes,” you moan. “Fuck me like that.”
“You like this?” he groans and he starts to thrust even faster and you both find your shared rhythm. Your walls start to tighten around his cock, making it impossible for him to hold out much longer. “I’m close,” he grumbles. “But you need to cum with me. Can you cum with me?”
“Yes,” you pant. “Don’t stop yet. I’m…” You can’t say anymore. His pounding has become relentless and neither one of you can hold off a second longer. You clench down on him and he erupts inside of you, filling you with every ounce he can muster. He falls down to you, kissing you deeply as your fingers roam through his hair.
“Still don’t think we should?” he chuckles.
Tumblr media
You wake up the next morning and Brian isn’t in bed. He couldn’t have left – not unless he called a cab, but he left his wallet somewhere, so he couldn’t have. Then you hear his voice coming from the other room. He’s talking to someone, but you don’t hear another voice, so you assume he’s on the phone. You get up and throw some clothes on, and when you go to walk out of your room, you see it on the floor. His wallet. Not just his wallet. There’s a wedding band laying next to it.
You walk into the living room and see him on the phone. “I’m okay. I forgot my key and I didn’t want to wake you,” you hear him say before he pauses. “I stayed at a hotel. I’ll be home tonight.” He says his goodbyes and hands up the phone.
When he turns around, he sees you standing in front of him holding his wallet. “Forgot your wallet, huh?” you smirk. “It was on the floor.”
He starts to blush. “Okay, you caught me. I wanted to…”
“It’s okay, Brian. I have to admit, it was real slick,” you chuckle and sit on the sofa. “Who were you just on the phone with?” You hold out a man’s wedding band. “Your wife?” You raise your brow and you see that guilty look flash on his face, the same one you saw momentarily last night. “Look, I won’t say anything. I’m not exactly proud of myself. If I’d have known it wouldn’t have happened, though.”
He crinkles his brow and seems to be a little perturbed. “You know I studied maths and physics but not that I was married?”
“I knew you were married. But you didn’t wear this so I assumed maybe you weren’t anymore. I don’t keep track of your personal life.” You sigh and stand up, walking to your room. “I’m going take a quick shower then we’ll go.”
Tumblr media
“How’d you get here, Bri?” Roger chuckles when Brian walks into the recording room. “I went to pick you up this morning and…”
“Taxi,” Brian quickly says.
“Yeah, forgot your key,” Roger smirks. “You’re welcome, by the way. For not blowing your cover.” He starts to walk back to his drum kit but turns back around. “Was it the blonde?” he asks. “She…”
“No, Rog,” Brian says and quickly goes to his guitar.
“He’s going to be fun today,” Roger groans in your ear. “Every time he does this, he’s impossible to deal with the next day.”
“Every time he does what?” you ask curiously.
“Not that it happens a lot. It doesn’t. But when it does? Guilt,” Roger tells you. “And he’s a miserable fucker the whole day.
“Oh…”
He sees you staring at Brian, and your face is riddled with guilt as well. “You? It was you?” He’s genuinely shocked. You glare at him and he puts a reassuring hand on your shoulder. “I won’t say a word.”
Tumblr media
You and Brian didn’t speak the entire time at the studio, but when everyone was leaving for the day – it was an early day today since they had some movie premier to go to – he stopped you before you walked out. “Look, Y/N, I…”
“Don’t worry. I’m not some psycho female who’s going to stalk you,” you giggle. “No apologies, alright?”
The smile on his face let you know he didn’t want to apologize for a single thing. “What I was going to say was that I really enjoyed your company and I hope we can do it again soon.” You know you’re supposed to tell him no. “Real soon,” he whispers.
No - that’s what you want to tell him. You’re a married man, and it should have never happened - you’re supposed to tell him that, too. “Perfect.”
