This is my Mama.

Backstory:

You may remember that a while go I knitted myself a funky cardigan to go with my fabulously sunshiny @lucyandyak dungarees (pics for evidence) using gorgeous James C Brett Marble Chunky, bought from my LYS @awoolshoplowestoft whose lovely curator Anna calls it "Autumn in a ball". Knitting it, I held it with mohair which has made it super soft and snuggly, and muted the colours beautifully.

So, I wore it to visit my parents. And my Mum coveted it. I promised to make her one. Trouble is... she can't wear natural fibres other than cotton, and holding cotton with it was never going to work. I managed to source some brushed acrylic in a sumptuous buttery yellow and TA-DAH!

I am SO pleased with the fit. Mum has impossibly (elegant, obvs) long arms, and loves a good pocket, and here you can see the sleeves are very generous and her hands buried.

I am a relieved and happy knitter.

And I keep promising the pattern but life has been getting in the way. It's in the works!

I have always wanted to dress in bright colors, & LUCY & YAK sure know how to make these dreams come true! They were actually sold out of my size. I ended up buying one that was too big & altering it to fit me! This paired with a green bandana & my color block sandals will be so cute!

SUSTAINABLE FASHION WEEK

Lucy and Yak have previously teamed up with future leap and partook in London Fashion Week, where they donated clothing to unhidden, an adaptive clothing brand which epicycles items for events.

~14/8/2022~ A definite improvement on yesterday. Was still very unsettled because of the events of the night before. Kept a low profile in the morning, taking things slowly, was relieved in a way when parentals and friends went out for the day. I opened my cards and presents in stages - nothing too overwhelming. Got my first ever pair of @lucyandyak dungarees, though a bit too hot to wear them. My brother ^^ came down from London to spend a few hrs with me and that really helped me/lifted my spirits. He bought me some lovely little gifts. Then he went to get us a takeaway from the beach cafe and brought it back for us to sit and eat in the garden (coolest place at parentals). Later in the afternoon it temporarily clouded over so decided I might be able to make it to the beach - it was a struggle to get there, but glad I did as had a much needed cool down in the sea - I was struggling to stand so sat in the sea in my clothes, which dried very quickly after. Parental drove me home on the way to dropping back his friends - my mum managed to persuade my Pom to drop me off first. I had some left over pizza for dinner, and carried on with some colouring in the evening. This is a tired happy face 💛

A couple of weeks ago, heavily influenced by my fellow seaswimmers' enthusiasm for @lucyandyak, I bought my first pair of dungarees since I was 10.

Bright, sunny and the most comfortable thing in the world 😊

But I *needed* to make a cardi to go with them.

A few days later, visiting Anna @awoolshoplowestoft to discuss next Spring's felting workshop, I saw and fell in love with this yarn. She calls it Autumn-in-a-ball. 😍 I knitted it held with some kidsilk from my stash and came up with this. The gorgeous big, red buttons are also from Anna's shop.

What you can't see is the handmade socks in the perfectly matching @thelonelyknitter Lion King colourway under my boots. I'm a Big Banana 💛
