The Miracle Man
Tumblr media
Pairing: Boaz Priestly x F. Reader
Summary: The first time you met Priestly was both the worst and best night of your life. He gave you a Miracle.
AN: Here’s the prequel to Code Red! (But this can also be read as stand alone.) I hope you enjoy. And just a note, remember this was circa 2007, still the era of flip phones and iPods, despite the advent of the iPhone.
Word Count: 3,500
Tags/Warnings: 18+ only for mature talk. A kind of meet cute, insecurities, angst, breakups, hurt/comfort, sandwiches, fluff and feels.

He was a lone ranger in the Wild West. His weapon of choice?
A dirty mop.
Priestly bopped his head to the music playing from his earbuds. His iPod was tucked in his right jean pocket while he speared the mop across the floor of the sandwich shop. It was three minutes to closing time on a Saturday night, and it was his turn to clean up and lock up.
He was looking forward to getting home, taking a shower, and diving face-first into his bed. But first, he just needed to kill three minutes.
Come on, come on, come oooon, he sang in his mind as the hands on his watch ticked on. While glancing down at said watch, he remembered it had been a gift from Tish for his birthday…
Three months ago. When they were still together.
Priestly heaved a sigh. What were you supposed to do with gifts from your ex that you actually liked? The gifts that made it into your everyday life, not just because they were from the person you thought you loved, but because it was actually hella practical and a nice accessory to keep on your person?
It’s just a damn watch. Don’t make it a big deal, he reminded himself. What was he supposed to do, have a ritual burning of everything Tish had ever touched?
That would take all damn night. And he definitely drew a line at his dick.
“Hello?”
The front door of the shop opened, the little bell Trucker installed chiming with too much cheer and startling Priestly out of his thoughts.
“We’re closed,” he said. But that was before he looked up, and had to pause in his mopping.
You were standing there, holding yourself in the open doorway with the cold breeze hitting your back. You were wearing a red cocktail dress and the highest black heels he’d ever seen, with your styled hair falling around your shoulders.
You were entirely too beautiful to be in this old sandwich shop, he thought. It had Priestly swallowing, frozen in time.
“Really? The sign says 10,” you pointed out. There was a level of desperation in your eyes. “Please, you’re the only place with the lights still on and I’ve been all up and down the block.”
Blinking out of his idiotic state, Priestly looked down at his watch again. It was exactly 9:59 p.m.
Well, damn. Got me on a technicality.
He held in a sigh.
“Okay, come on in,” he waved you over. Setting down his mop, he rounded the counter and went to man the register. He gave you a minute to peruse the menu. He noted that aside from your stunning attire, you had a cell phone in your hand that clearly couldn’t fit in that little purse hanging off your shoulder, bumping along your hip.
He couldn’t help but visually trace the curves of your hips and waist, back up to the sweetheart neckline of the dress, the deeper shade of your lipstick and up to your face.
But then he felt bad for staring, so he looked up heavenward before you caught him.
Meanwhile, your eyes drifted from the menu and dipped to his chest for a moment.
“Too bad I’m not gay,” you said.
What? Priestly frowned in confusion. But following your gaze, he realized you were staring at his yellow shirt, which read in big, 70s-style letters: Be Gay & Proud, Get a Free Drink.
His lips twitched at a grin, and he looked up at you. “D’you know what you want?”
You had a smile starting to play on your lips as well. You went back to considering your choices.
“Not sure, but I’m starving. What do you recommend?” you asked.
Priestly’s lips puckered as he considered the menu he knew by heart.
“Well, if you wanna go classic, I’d do a Spicy Italian on white bread. If you wanna be adventurous, we just added the Jalapeño Buffalo Chicken Club," he said. "But, if you wanna get crazy awesome, I can put on some Zeppelin and make you something special of my own design.”
He colored that last option with a gesture of his hand, a flourish, if you will. You tilted your head at him and smiled.
“Okay. Surprise me, Sandwich Man.”
Priestly snorted while he washed his hands again. “Sounds like the lamest superhero ever.”
“With his death-defying salami summoning powers,” you quipped, with a giggle that had him smiling as well.
“Nice alliteration,” he said. And he made a show of tying his apron back on. “Don’t worry, ma’am. Your late-night hoagie is safe with me.”
You tried to stifle another laugh while he worked his magic. From bread to meats and cheeses and toppings, Priestly was a master of his craft. He had that 12” hero wrapped and sliding across the counter towards you in record time.
“I call this the ‘Miracle,’” he winked. “You’ll see why. But that’ll be $10 even.”
You nodded and turned to the purse on your hip. You opened up the little velvety thing, but your face fell when all you found was your keys, not your credit card.
“No.” Your heart dropped into your stomach. You opened your purse wider and flipped through the satin insides, but you saw that it was empty. “You’ve gotta be shitting me. I know I had my wallet in here…”
And then it dawned on you.
“That fucking asshole,” you growled.
Priestly’s eyes widened. “Uh…”
Your head snapped up to his. “I had a different purse picked out for tonight. You know, one that actually had my wallet in it? But my know-it-all boyfriend had the nerve to say, ‘That one’s too shiny, looks kinda cheap. This is a restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton, not a hooker hangout.’ Can you believe that?”
Priestly blinked in confusion, but he realized that in your purse shuffling, you had no way to pay for this amazing sandwich he’d just concocted.
And now, you actually had the beginnings of frustrated tears in your eyes as you took in a shuddering breath.
“I’m so sorry,” you said. “I can’t—I can’t pay for this. I don’t have my wallet… Hold on, let me see if he’ll…”
You held up a finger and started dialing manically on your phone. You held it up to your ear and waited. Your tears sprang forth anew when the line just kept ringing until it sent you to voicemail.
“Figures,” you scoffed. “The one time I actually need this douchebag to answer, he ignores me!”
You slammed the phone down on the counter and covered your face with your hand as you sniffled. Priestly softened with sympathy. You seemed to be having a harder night than he thought.
He slid the sandwich your way, making you raise your head.
“It’s okay. This one’s on the house,” he said. “Looks like you could use a pick-me-up.”
Your watery eyes met his. “Really? You don’t have to…”
“No worries,” he replied, giving you a bit of charm in his grin. “I’ll even throw in a soda. Lady’s choice.”
Your lower lip trembled, but you were able to smile. With a quiet thank you, you wiped under your eyes carefully so your mascara wouldn’t run. Then you grabbed a Coke from the machine along with your sandwich from the counter.
“Do you mind if I eat here?” you asked, gesturing at one of the tables. “I promise I won’t leave a mess. I know you’re trying to close up.”
Priestly waved a dismissive hand. “Sure. Don’t worry about it.”
He went around the counter to take up his mop and continue where he left off in the cleaning process. But he couldn’t help but eye you every now and then. Curiosity was starting to eat him alive.
Had your boyfriend just dumped you here? Had you gone off alone? Somehow, he couldn’t see the first option happening. If you were his girlfriend, he would do his best not to let you walk away angry at him, let alone this late at night, without any money or even your ID.
“Are you coming from a party or something?” he found himself asking. You looked up from your second bite of the sandwich. You’d looked to have been truly enjoying it, uttering a moan that’d caught his attention.
“No,” you chuckled humorlessly around a mouthful of bread. “I was supposed to meet his parents. His rich, very bougie, hyper-critical parents. Somehow it didn’t occur to me that he was just like them.”
Priestly paused and leaned on his mop. He was hesitant, not wanting to disturb you while you were eating, but he was too damn hooked.
“So…what happened?” he asked. You scoffed and took another massive bite of your sandwich.
“Okay, you want to hear this? Fine,” you began. “So, I’m a stress eater by nature. Let’s just start with that.”
“Who isn’t?” Priestly supplied. Pursing your lips, you raised a black olive at him in a thank you gesture.
“But when I tell you I spent three months depriving myself to fit into this dress. No carbs, cheese, chocolate, or happiness.”
He grimaced. “That’s no way to live.”
“Exactly!” you concurred. “But I did all that so my boyfriend would have nothing to say when I finally met his parents for this dinner—to celebrate him graduating from med school.”
Priestly found himself dimming inside. Not only were you spoken for, but you were with a future doctor, no less. The only title Priestly had to his name was Sandwich Man.
“It started with the purse thing when he picked me up. Then when we get there, he keeps telling me how stuffy his dad is and how judge-y and critical his mom can be and how I’m a reflection on him,” you mocked in an impression of his voice.
“Then I find myself second-guessing every word that might come out of my mouth, and I’m too nervous to even eat the $60 plate of Chilean sea bass in front of me, and not to mention, there’s a glass of wine in my hand. I don’t even like wine!”
By now, it was all Priestly could do to keep up with your verbal spitfire. You were also gesticulating wildly with your sandwich the more worked up you got.
“I mean, I’m saying things I don’t say, and suddenly I realize that I’ve wrapped myself up in so many knots for this man, I don’t even recognize myself,” you confessed. Your eyes lit up with a gleam of clarity. Your hands lowered down to the table, and after a beat, you continued eating.
“But then my boyfriend of over a year turns to me and says, ‘Why are you being so weird and frigid?’” you said. You met Priestly’s eyes. “I just, I got so mad. I wanted to choke him out with my napkin, you know?”
He bit his lip to stifle a laugh.
“So instead of violence, I grabbed the glass of pinot noir, or chardon-perignon-whatever-the-fuck, and I poured it in his lap,” you concluded. “Then I walked out. And I ignored his calls. And I kept walking. Then a nice guy made me a sandwich.”
Priestly had to smile at that. He knew there was a Ritz-Carlton in the area, but that had to be almost a mile down the street. You’d walked a long way in those crazy-ass heels.
He propped his mop against a nearby table and sat down across from you. He shook his head in wonderment. And inside, your words kind of rattled him.
I’ve wrapped myself up in so many knots, I don’t even recognize myself.
“You know, sometimes I really, really wish I was gay,” you said, gesturing at his shirt.
“O-Oh…really?” he asked, raising his brows.
“Yeah, I do,” you answered. “I’m a quick study. I could learn to eat pussy.”
If he had been drinking something, he would’ve spat it out. He mentally fumbled for a moment before he could articulate a response.
“Well, I don’t doubt you, but it can be an acquired taste. Though I happen to like it,” he replied, grinning mostly to himself. He didn’t even think about how it might come out though.
As soon as he realized what he was saying to a perfect stranger, his eyes widened and met yours.
"Uh, sorry," he said.
But you just chortled in amusement. Your blush intensified though, along with your smile as you took a sip of your soda.
“You’re uh…you’re pretty awesome,” he said. And he meant that.
You blinked in surprise. Your lips twitched upwards, a blush rosy in your cheeks.
“Yeah?” you asked. His smile deepened.
“Yeah,” he replied. “And for the record, I know I just met you, but…I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Your face softened with a certain shyness, but you smiled at him through your lashes.
“Well, I appreciate that…” you trailed, realizing you didn’t yet know his name.
“Priestly,” he offered, along with his hand across the table. You slipped your smaller hand in his and gave him your name.
Though you quirked a brow at him. “Priestly? That’s your first name?”
Now it was his turn to get a little embarrassed.
“Uh, no,” he said, his gaze falling from yours. He scratched the back of his head, under the blue mohawk.
“Oh. What is it, then?” you asked.
“You don’t want to know,” he chuckled wryly.
“I think I do, or I wouldn’t be asking,” you countered. Your smile was playful though. Disarming, even.
“It’s um, it’s Boaz,” he admitted. You tilted your head, as if swirling the name around in your head. But you didn’t say it was weird, or stupid, or too biblical. You just smiled.
“Boaz Priestly. Interesting,” you nodded. Then you wrapped up your garbage, having eaten all of your sandwich. You made sure to collect every crumb, even though he’d told you not to worry about the mess. You got up to take it to the trashcan near the door.
“How’re you getting home?” he asked.
You bit your lip. The anxiety in your eyes told him you’d been pondering that same question. You let out a deep breath.
“I guess I’ll have to walk back to the hotel, try to get a ride from my b…my ex-boyfriend. Gotta get used to saying that,” you said. “I promise I’ll pay you back for the sandwich.”
“Didn’t I tell you it was on me? Don’t worry about that,” said Priestly. “But I’ll tell you what, let me give you a ride.”
You shook your head. “Oh, thank you, but we just met, and I—”
Just then, Priestly realized how his offer sounded. He didn’t want to creep you out.
“Ah, or I can get you a cab,” he said. “I doubt you want to see that guy again tonight, do you?”
You bit your lip, smudging some of the scarlet red lipstick there. It distracted him for a moment, but he returned his gaze to your eyes.
You sighed. As much as you didn’t want to impose again, you let Priestly call you a cab. He paid for it in advance after you gave the cabbie your address. Before you got in the car, you turned to Priestly and touched his arm.
“Thank you,” you said. “I promise, I’ll come tomorrow and pay you back.”
He smiled. “You can try.”
He earned your sweet smile back, and he watched you get into the cab. He tried not to raise his hopes up, but he really did hope he’d see you tomorrow.
Tumblr media
And yet, he should’ve known it was too good to be true.
“Maybe she got caught up at work or something,” Jen tried to console him the next day at closing, after you didn’t show up.
“It’s Sunday,” he pointed out grumpily. He continued to wipe down Table 4 of some nasty residue of mayo and pickled radish.
“You don’t know what kind of job she has,” Piper interjected. She was making a tuna salad sub on wheat for the last customer, which she then passed on to Tish at the register. “Maybe she’s in retail, or she’s in the restaurant business too—or hey, a lifeguard! This is a beach town after all.”
“Or maybe, she just played you into getting free food and a ride home,” Tish suggested, with her usual brand of cutting sarcasm. It just tended to cut a bit deeper these days, whenever it was leveled at Priestly.
The post-breakup thing had been tense and awkward for everyone, and it still hadn’t normalized just yet in their little sandwich-making ecosystem. Jen shot her friend a look though, one that told her she was being bitchy.
The problem was, she’d only voiced what Priestly was thinking anyway, deep down.
“Amazing, serendipitous things don’t happen to me, Piper,” he said. “Not anymore.”
He continued cleaning.
Tumblr media
Three weeks later, it happened on a Friday afternoon.
It was one of their busiest times of the week. Tish was at the register as usual, Jen was sorting through the inventory and bussing tables, and Priestly was making hero after hero like a fiend, alongside Piper. He was definitely living up to his name of Sandwich Man.
He was still able to recognize your voice near the register.
“One 12” Miracle, please,” you requested.
“Um…we don’t have that on the menu,” Tish replied. But Priestly looked over with a grin. He met your gaze, and found you smiling back at him.
Tish followed the exchange with suspicion.
“One Miracle, coming up!” Priestly called out.
He had the order ready within minutes, but he was painstaking about it, not an olive out of place. He wrapped it up nicely and walked it over to the register himself, placing it in front of you on the counter.
“Well, hi there,” he greeted.
A familiar blush spread across your face, just as endearing as he remembered. The only thing different about you so far was your clothes. No longer dressed to the nines, you were more casual in your jeans, ankle boots, and V-necked top.
In every other way, you were the same. It might’ve been making his heart trip up.
“Hi,” you said. “Got a minute, Miracle Man?”
Priestly ducked his head, hiding a more bashful smile. Before he could respond, Tish interrupted, “That’ll be $10.”
You nodded and handed her a $50 bill. She looked at you in confusion.
“The rest is a tip, for the hero makers,” you explained, glancing at both Priestly and Piper. He gave you an incredulous smile.
You little minx, he thought. He couldn’t say no if you were tipping Piper too.
But he did ask Jen to help fill in for him while he made his way around the counter to go to you. Tish just watched the scene unfold with a silent frown, like she was trying to make sense of what was happening. She always thought she’d be the first one to move on.
“Let’s talk outside. Little more privacy from the peanut gallery,” Priestly said to you, tossing a knowing glance over his shoulder. You spotted all the employees now watching you and Priestly closely.
You became a touch more shy as he led you out of the shop with a hand resting on the small of your back. You slipped your sandwich into a larger purse than last time. Then you looked up at him with apologetic eyes.
“I’m sorry it took me so long to come back here,” you said. “It got a bit…ugly, after that night.”
Priestly’s brows furrowed in concern. “Ugly?”
“Nothing I couldn’t handle,” you assured him. “Lots of shouting and empty threats, then half-assed apologies. But I’m done with all that.”
Priestly considered that with a nod. “Well, good. I’m glad to hear you’re doing better.”
You stared up at his face, and you thought he really seemed to mean that. You knew you shouldn’t be feeling that familiar flutter in your stomach, not three weeks after breaking up from a year-long relationship. Even so, the night you walked out of this shop, you felt free. Like you could breathe again.
You felt like you.
So now, you leaned up and kissed Priestly on the cheek.
His eyes widened a fraction as he stared down at you. You smiled and grasped his hand.
“Would you maybe want to…ask me out sometime?” you asked. A nervous giggle escaped you, making him smile.
“Y-Yeah, I would. If you’re sure you want me to,” he replied. In the past, maybe he would’ve let his excitement get the best of him. He’d be trying to jump at this chance. Experience had taught him not to hope too hard though. Sometimes, getting what you wished for backfired in your face.
You squeezed his hand, earning his attention.
“Why wouldn’t I?” you asked. Your smile became teasing before you used his words against him. “From what I’ve seen so far, you’re pretty awesome. But mostly pretty.”
He had to laugh at that. Pretty was not something he’d ever been called in life. Weird, freak, try-hard goth—that was all familiar territory. His tattoos and piercings tended to bring that out in people.
But he gathered some courage and squeezed your hand back.
“Well, you’re beautiful,” he said, thumbing at your chin. His eyes met yours and got lost there for a moment. “Uh, really beautiful.”
You blushed further and bit your lower lip out of habit. It drew his gaze, and he gained a little more courage. He tilted your chin upwards, so he could find those lips easier in a kiss. Your fingers curled in the front of his shirt and brought him closer. His hand found your cheek as he angled deeper into the kiss.
Despite the chill on the air, the California sun was warm and beating down on you both.
It was the perfect day for a Miracle.

Black Light 4
Warnings: namecalling, violence, other dark elements. Proceed with caution.
Note: thank you for waiting! Please let me know what you think as it helps me a lot with ideas and I love interacting with you all.
Part of The Club AU
Tumblr media
You check yourself in the mirror. The black bob isn’t a bad look. You tilt your head back and forth making the sleek strands wiggles back and forth. The sunglasses complete the look and you ponder overhauling your usual style. You look dangerous.
You resist scratching under the wig and give yourself a smile. You look almost devilish in the get up but you can’t chance being recognised on your mission. No, this is very important. This is revenge. Served tepid.
You sneak out the backdoor and check your phone. You have another message from your new friend. She texted you earlier that she had a new cell already. You hang onto yours like gold, you’re not really sure what you would do if you lost it. Probably turn to the primitive lifestyle.
‘I’m headed to the club, meet you at the cafe.’
‘Sure thing, 🐔💸’ You text.
She texts back a simple question mark.
‘Chicken wing’ you clarify and smack your forehead. You’re such a dweeb. You follow up quickly; I’ll be there.
You head downtown, catching a bus halfway and tossing the transfer. You could use the walk as your nerves are starting to flurry. You approach the cafe and see your friend. She wears a denim skirt and an off-the-shoulder red shirt. Her shoes are the same shade as her top. She looks towards you then the other way, not acknowledging your approach.
You near and give a short ‘psst’. She whips around and sneers in your direction before blanching and saying your name.
“Like it?” You pull down your sunglasses. “I feel like Sandy from Grease. Well, more like Rizzo.”
“Uh, sure, why are you dressed like that?”
“Oh, I didn’t want that guy to recognize me so I figure I could sneak in like this.”
“Ah,” she nods and lets out a sigh, “right. Well, try going to the other one when they card ya.”
“That works too. You’re so clever.”
“Thanks,” she says dully, “come on.”
You give a bounce and follow her down the street. She marches on, set on her path as you skip to keep up. She’s a lot more graceful in her heels. And angry. You worry about Cole, he might not be ready for what she has in store.
“Hopefully that jackass is there but those types usually don’t have anything else going on,” she snarls as if reading your mind.
“Uh, yeah.”
“You make sure you point him out when you see him. And don’t get to close, I’ll take care of him. No drinks, either. Let’s not take that chance.”
“Sounds like a plan. Well, kind of.”
“Don’t worry, I can slip this guy something. Don’t you worry. Men are stupid, he gets distracted by his next mark and I’ll strike first,” she turns the corner and you flutter along with her, joining the queue outside the club.
“You’re so brave,” you admire.
“No, I’m pissed,” she insists as she crosses her arms, slowly shifting with the line.
You peek out around the bodies. You see that man, Auggy. He’s scowling at an ID. You watch him and his eyes flick up as if he can sense you. You recoil quickly and put your chin down.
“Hey, be cool,” your friend touches your elbow, “busy tonight, you just gotta blend in.”
“Mmm, yeah,” you murmur, “I just… I don’t know what I did. I was nice–”
“He’s an old grump,” she scoffs, “who cares how he feels.”
You approach the front of the line and make sure to veer towards the other bouncer, the one with the pudgy belly. He barely looks at your card as he waves you inside. The two of you enter to the buzz of the crowd and blare of speakers.
“Now, we hunt,” she says, “keep your phone on you. You get close to him, let me know. Oh, and take a picture if you can.”
“Right, uh…”
“I’ll get upstairs, you stay down here,” she directs, “we’ll meet back up in half an hour if we can’t find him.”
“Sure.”
“Look, I got you. Anyone gives you trouble, text me. And give em a punch like I showed you.”
You put your fist up and pat your elbow as you reenact the brief lesson she gave you earlier. She smiles and squeezes your arm.
“Good,” she praises, “now, let’s do this.”
She turns and struts off. You admire her from afar. She’s so cool. And she likes you, you think. She’s a lot nicer than Amanda or Kam. You frown and spin around, looking around at the dancing figures and the bar shining at the far end of the room.
Where to begin…
You twiddle your fingers and give a huff. You have to get in the mindset. The grindset. The findset. Find him. Hmm, you’re not great with faces…
You go to take a step forward and you're suddenly hauled back by your arm. You yipe. No one around you reacts as you’re slammed against the wall, a shadow towering over you. You look up as your sunglasses are torn away and a light is shone in your face. The bouncer lets out a gravelly growl as the small bulb of the flashlight glares in your eyes.
“I knew it was you,” he grits.
“Oh, hi, Auggy!” You chime, “how are you?”
“Don’t act like you fucking know me,” he clicks off the light and leans down until your encased in the blackness of his silhouette. “You don’t want to know me.”

How i make my drawings
Hello! Since @wolfsune09 asked how i make my shading and all that i decided to make a little tutorial on my shading style! (I draw in Clip Studio Paint)
Also english is not my fist language so i'm sorry if i make any mistakes or say weird sentences!
So let's start with brushes:
The brushes i mainly use are The Calliflakes brush, Soft square brush, and the regular Turnip pen and Design pencil from Clip studio
Tumblr media
These brushes are like, MY LIFE i love them so much dfjsdbfhbsdb
Anyway, the drawing i'm making is a screenshot redraw of a homestuck panel because i can
Tumblr media
Get homestucked lol
Anyway after the sketch i make the shading plans, they are really important and will basically dictate if the drawing will be good or not
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
always make sure the light direction is the same throughout or else it will look lackluster, think about the character in they're primary forms(head is a square, torso is also a square, nose is a piramid etc.)
Now is the real kicker, plan the reflective light (i can't explain it really well so researching it is a better option)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like to see the light sources with their correct blending modes before drawing to check if the colors look ok
In the end, the objective is to make it so the drawing still holds up without the sketch, if the light makes the pose readable, it's all good to go
Tumblr media
Finally, it's time for the lineart, i made the Calliflakes's brush change in size depending on the tilt, this is great for a dynamic lineart and a crunchy look
I usually use three sizes in the lineart, the main size, a medium size to make more detailed parts, and a smaller one for when i need even smaller details, tho it's good to use it sparingly since it might make the drawing look unbalanced
Tumblr media
Also, i usually don't use black in my drawings, mostly because of the shading process
Tumblr media
Looking good!
Now it's time for the flats! This part is pretty simple, this ios also the part where i paint the lineart, i ONLY paint parts that are INSIDE the silhouette, mostly to make everything blend more and also becuase i like it :)
Tumblr media
What a handsome fellow!
Alright now for the part you came here for, the shading! Alright, remember the shading plan? Use that as a base for the actual shading.
First, since this drawing is in a dark place, i grouped the whole drawing in a folder, then made a multiply layer with the color closest to the original image, then i clipped it to the folder(this is a very common thing here)
Tumblr media
(I didn't shade the eye since it is the main point of focus of the drawing)
Now let's see it with the lighting plan
Tumblr media
nice
Now let's talk soft squares and design pencils
The way i shade with the soft square is that i make it mostly cell shaded, then i come with the same brush but transparent, and i VERY CAREFULLY make circular motions to erase part where i want the shading to make a gradient effect, the key to a good shading job is balancing the sharp shadows with the soft ones
Now with hair, i use the design pencil, i basically just make a bunch of close streaks, almost like painting with a paint brush, after that i make streaks with the same pencil but transparent, making variations in lenght so it looks natural and organic
Tumblr media
Alright time for the first shade pass, this one is for the more general shadows, so it won't look that dynamic
Tumblr media
Now you can see where the shadows are lacking and make the second pass to deepen the shapes
Tumblr media
(P.S: all these layers are the same color, they are in multiply mode)
Alright time for the star of the show! The lights!!!
Using the shading plan i refined the shapes and put it on the add(glow) mode, a good tip i have for this stage is to make shapes shapes shapes! Also remembering that the farther the thing is, the least bright it will be.
Tumblr media
Oh my! That changes the whole vibe!
Now i saw the hair was a little boring looking, so i added an extra layer of airbrush to make it more dynamic
Tumblr media
Actually fuck it, time for some finger tip smudge
Tumblr media
Now we're talking.
Alright, now it's time for the reflected light, make sure it's not too bright unless it looks like a second light source, also this layer is in glow dodge mode!
Tumblr media
We could say it's done as it is...
BUT NOT BEFORE THE COLOR DODGE
Tumblr media
It looks so muck better now! But that's not all!
Now that we have this beautiful boi, it's time for the finishing touches! These make ALL the difference in the drawing
Tumblr media
There we go!
Well now it's my favorite part... the FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT part!
This is where you add all the textures and special effects! I like mostly using a noise filter (so AI can't steal my stuff) and achromatic aberration, also adding some ashes and a nice metal texture in the background to make it nicer looking
Tumblr media
Now, this is technically finished, but if you want to go the extra mile, you can do some color correction, i like doing it to give more contrast, also to make the piece more balanced, i also added some extra details on the eye and a blur last minute
Tumblr media
And it's done!
As you can see my process is a little all over the place, but that's the fun part of drawing for me! It's always an adventure where you never know how it's going to end!
Anyway hope this helped at least a little!

I have many responsibilities in my personal and professional life, so naturally I used my valuable time to create this rating of every single one of Dick Knubbler's outfits. I know next to nothing about fashion, so naturally I'm the most qualified person to make this list. Bold fashion choices and wrong opinions under the cut. Let me know what you think!
Tumblr media
"Pre-Accident" Outfit. Appears in Dethwater. What an iconic look to start the series with. Songgu Kwon's concept art that's available online has Knubbler in a traditional suit, so I wonder when they made the switch to this style jacket. It's a shame he never wore this exact outfit ever again. Maybe it doesn't go with his robotic eyes? Do you think Dick had to get a whole new wardrobe after his eyes exploded since he stopped being blue eyed? And what do you think happened to his collection of different shaded glasses? 9/10
Tumblr media
"Award Show " Outfit. Appears in Dethwater. It's a suit. Boring. And it's just the same color scheme as the first outfit? Extra points for the bowtie and the pocket square. I just realized while making this list that he's not wearing shades in this outfit. 6/10
Tumblr media
"Prison" Outfit. Appears in Dethwater If there was any justice in the Metalocalypse universe, Knubbler would have spent the rest of the series in this outfit in a jail cell. Not much else to say about this one. I like the red-rimmed glasses. 3/10
Tumblr media
"Disco" Outfit. Appears in Dethwater.
Hideous. The bell bottoms, the clashing colors, the star patterns, whatever the hell kind of dance moves he's trying to pull off. Absolutely iconic. I would rank this outfit higher if it didn't physically hurt my eyes to look at it. 6/10
Tumblr media
"Magazine" Outfit. Appears in Dethwater.
It's the same as the "Pre-Accident" Outfit, just with a green turtleneck. For some reason I don't like this outfit nearly as much. Maybe because the green matches the eyes? But aren't you supposed to match colors in fashion? I don't know. Again, I'm probably the last person in the world that should be judging clothes.
5/10
Tumblr media
"Court" Outfit. Appears in Dethkomedy. Interesting color choices. This is why Knubbler's outfits are so great. You've got a basic suit-and-tie that becomes a fashion win/disaster with the lilac coat, black shirt, and pink striped tie. The stripes on the tie make it a little too busy for me though. 7/10
Tumblr media
"The Knubbler" Outfit. Appears in Dethkids, Dethrecord, Dethrelease/Black Fire Upon Us, Dethhealth, Doublebookedklok. Step away from your phone/computer for a second. Close your eyes. Take a few breaths. Then picture Dick Knubbler. What outfit is he wearing? I bet you pictured him in this. If you didn't, well then it's what Murderface pictured him wearing in his gay crisis fantasy. So yeah. There's a reason this outfit is the one they put him in over three seasons. Knubbler wore this style jacket before and since these episodes, but the plum really makes this version of the outfit shine. Absolutely perfect. No notes. 10/10
Tumblr media
"Recording on Water" Outfit. Appears in Dethvengeance, the cancelled Metalocalypse video game. Again, I love how Knubbler spices up a classic suit and tie with wild color choices. My personal preference for warm colors has me wishing the colors were a bit bolder than forest green and purple. But I gotta give love to any outfit with a pocket square. 7/10
Tumblr media
"White Dethmas" Outfit. Appears in Dethmas, Fertilityklok, and in issue 3 of the Dethklok comic book. This one's great. It takes a brave man to wear an all white outfit, and he pulls it off. My only issue is that it's kind of weird that he also wore it to Toki's birthday party which, according to the calendar in Fertilityklok, is late summer or early autumn. I assume they made this Dethmas outfit all white to go with the snow/winter/Christmas theme, but apparently Dick will just wear it whenever. 8/10
Tumblr media
"Christmas Special Host" Outfit. Appears in Dethmas. Perfectly average. Just a tuxedo. The red bowtie/pocket square with the green vest is a nice Christmas-y touch. Loses points for being so boring otherwise. 6/10
Tumblr media
"Nativity" Outfit. Appears in Dethmas. I don't know if I've ever been able to watch this clip all the way through without having to pause due to the secondhand embarrassment. Sometimes I think about how there exists a 30 second clip of this man screaming in agony as the blood vessels in his face swell and his eyeballs eventually explode, but this is the clip that makes me cringe myself inside out. I can barely look at this outfit long enough to rank it. The necklace is pretty cool though, even if I can't tell what the charm is supposed to be. It kind of looks like Facebones? Or the old DeviantArt mascot? I don't know. Let's just get the hell away from this picture. 2/10
Tumblr media
"Dealing with a Murderface Tantrum" Outfit. Appears in Dethsiduals The first of two suit-without-a-tie outfits. The purple and black go well together, and the pocket square makes another excellent appearance, although it pairs with the dress shirt this time rather than the ascot. Heh. Ascot. That's a funny word. 7/10
Tumblr media
"Season 4" Outfit. Appears in Writersklok, Goingdownklok, Breakupklok. I'm disappointed that he had so few outfits in season 4. That sours my opinion on this suit a little. But I love that there are three completely different colors with this outfit. Someone teach me how color coordination is done so I can understand why this outfit works.
And we've got another pocket square paired with the ascot! So I get to think about the word "ascot" again! 8/10
Tumblr media
"Flawless Disguise" Outfit. Appears in Writersklok. I love the running joke of a tracksuit and a baseball cap being the ultimate disguise in the Metalocalypse universe. Leave it to Knubbler to turn a tracksuit outfit into a capital L Look. I like that his baseball cap has a blue star on it like the pink shirt from the "Disco" Outfit, and that the suit itself is lavender like the "Court" Outfit. 8/10
Tumblr media
"Clergy" Outfit. Appears in Army of the Doomstar Another boring outfit compared to what he wears for most of the series. I wonder why they picked green for the color. Because that was the color of his robot pupils for most of the series? Because it's the same color as the nuclear seahorse from Dethwater? Because it makes him look more like Yoda? I'll give bonus points to this outfit since he was probably free-balling under that thing. Or should I take away points for that? Honestly my least favorite part of these robes is that Dick didn't get to die in a zazzier outfit. Hopefully in the Metalocalypse universe, ghosts can pick what outfit they wear when they haunt the shit out of the band. 6/10 And that's that! Please tell me how wrong my ratings are and where you would rate them instead. I need fashion lessons!

Hey Mera! I have a question, and sorry if this is a dumb one, but I recently read your yandere sk Floyd work for the lunar love event, and I was wondering um what colour is Stygian? Google said it’s a dark colour so is his hair just a darker shade of blue or is just rly dark, like almost black? Also, has his hair grown out a bit while he was in prison? Like by a bit or a lot? Sorry it’s just small curiosities but I was wondering what he would look like, (I’m not sure if you’ve posted something already talking about his appearance), I love the idea of (ex) prisoner Floyd and am thinking of drawing him so I just wanna know the juicy details (like any piercings or tattoos cause I’m a thirsty anon)
Hello!! It's not a dumb question at all. It is a word meaning "very dark," but it can also mean black or ebony. I pictured Floyd dying his hair black when I wrote it. I feel like he wears blue-colored contacts for all of a few days before he tires of that and switches to his regular contact lenses or maybe even glasses since moray eyesight is terrible. <3 thinking of Floyd with black hair and glasses... aaaa he's cute even if he's dangerous!!
But then appearance-wise, I think he'd definitely look more intimidating than adorable. I like to imagine he has sleeve tattoos on his arms. Maybe even an eel tattoo on his chest or curled around his bicep. It's fun to imagine him with tattoos that tie into his Coral Sea origins. Omg and maybe a tattoo referencing his unique magic "Bind the Heart"!!! Many thoughts... orz perhaps he even got some of the tattoos while he was in prison. He definitely has a shrimp tattoo or maybe he's tattooed your name onto him. Normally Floyd would find it boring or cheesy, but he's so devoted to you! If he can't have you physically pressed to him, then your name will suffice (for now).
As for piercings, I like to picture sk!Floyd with a dick piercing (while sk!Jade has his tongue piercing), but maybe that's irrelevant. ^^;;; his hair probably did grow in prison, unless if it was a regulation in the prison that his head had to be shaved. But pretending that that wasn't the case, Floyd probably cut his own hair while in prison (or attempted to with what little tools he could sneak back to his cell). He had to look nice and handsome for his interviews with Shrimpy, after all! <3 maybe he even likes the longer, messier-than-normal style when he escapes. Maybe he keeps it in a short, loose ponytail or maybe he complains about the hairstyle and cuts it back to his preferred length some time later. I think it really is mood-dependent for him. >_< but Floyd with Shinpei's hairstyle is so omg!!!!!
There are just so many possibilities with Mr. ex-prisoner sk!Floyd. :D if you do end up drawing him, I would love to see!!!!!

I'd love to develop some sort of taxonomic chart of the different prevalent art styles you see in internet groups and how their lineages relate
For example, you have the artists whose style is crisp solid black ink lines and cell shading with a hard round brush, which is heavily influenced by traditional cell animation, which itself is mostly split into two predominant groups (American and Japanese anime) and both of those schools of animation are themselves influenced by their predecessors and so on
And you have artists whose style is big exaggerated shapes and thick outlines and limited color palettes, whose style was influenced by early webcomics, which were influenced by the image resolution limitations of posting art online at the time, which in turn was influenced by sprite animation and classic newspaper comics, which were influenced by their own technical limitations, etc etc etc
I could go on forever about it, but I just think it would be neat to chart out those chains of influence, see where they evolve and converge and split and originate

Can’t believe the original Portal is 15 years old today… HAPPY 15TH ANNIVERSARY!
Hey there!
Here’s some fanart I made of Chell and Wheatley after reading Blue Sky by Waffles again, more specifically the comic version by @bluesky-thewebcomic ! It brings me so much joy and while I don’t draw fanart often anymore, it kinda reignited my interest ^^
I’m also not one to ship characters often but this fanfiction changed my mind, I love these two ^^ also added my personal headcanon (colour swap) where Human!Wheatley has a black sclera and blue hair!
Hope you like it, it’s an attempt at a more simple cell-shading style I made a few months ago ^^

sorekara setting design
Tumblr media
Here are some notes on the development of SOREKARA's style and presentation. If you couldn't already tell, SK takes a lot of inspiration from 70's/80's anime, Nobody's Boy Remi being the reference point for much of it. I've always respected Dezaki for his monumental work so I've always wanted to pay tribute to it (especially the early stuff). I don't think I was as successful as I'd like to have been, but alas! There is still more to come! So without further ado!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was just talking about Dezaki , but now I shall talk about something completely different. To set the tone, I created the cat and the trolley setting first. The Girl's design should be plenty obvious (lol). But the background here I paid special attention to... I find the paints of Night on the Galactic Railroad to be very unique. They have a line less, airbrushed quality to them that blends in surprisingly well with the characters. I did some research and studied 児玉喬夫 Takao Kodama's work, as they were credited with setting design for this film as well as Genji Monogatari. Actually, if you look at Genji Monogatari's backgrounds, they have the exact same airbrushed quality! I had never done a background like this before (I am certainly not an environmental artist) but I think I did a fairly good job of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...I immediately switched gears and without thinking, went back to Dezaki works. I can't say I was very faithful at all. The night sky is easy to paint, with it's notable color spray and paint blots, but I diverged quite a bit with the watercolor textures. Shichiro Kobayashi is the artist I looked to the most, and this project made me appreciate him more than ever before. Just looking at his paints gets me emotional... The vibrant colors, the dramatic angles, you can just feel his reverence for life overflowing from the work. There really isn't anyone better. I need to study more if I'm to capture even a fraction of his skill. That being said, I did make sure to animate the backgrounds slightly with the sparkles on the water-- The reflection of light on water is my favorite to draw! Also, flowers are a very important motif (for various reasons, ohohoho). Kobayashi seemed to love drawing flowers, the paint around the edges give is a delicate look. Actually, if you look at the textbox...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Instead of full-color CGs, I opted to use "postcard memories". This was a technique Dezaki used where he would show a detailed, scratchy-lined illustration to highlight important moments instead of fully animating them. It creates a really memorable image that draws out all of your emotions! I tried to emulate them (the more single-toned ones, that is) for the game. It was 1/3 Dezaki worship, 1/3 time-saving technique, and 1/3 excuse to draw lots of scratchy lines. I love scratchy lines. This way, I could make a lot of memorable shots that were visually interesting without overworking myself.
As another note, I looked to Akio Sugino's character art when drawing. The characters don't really look like Sugino characters, but I was emulating his shading technique with (once-again) the scratchy lines. Ah, I was in heaven. Looking at his older work, the linework is hardly ever clean-- but the rough, hand-drawn edge gives everything a tactile quality and the strong anatomy makes everyone so gorgeous. It's like an engraving come to life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, the anime effects! On the left you can see soothat before his values are adjusted (very dark, isn't he?) and on the right you can see he is in-game, values adjusted with a more appropriate "anime" look. This is because anime cells are put onto a CRT screen, so they end up looking very different. I created an auto action in CSP to adjust the color grating and line quality of every asset before popping them into the game for the chromatic aberration to take effect. The lines are slightly crunched a blurrier compared to the original. It gives it a more "physical" look. The colors are fixed up-- you'll see there is no pure black. If you look at a physical anime cell, you'll see they more often than not do not include pure black. There is usually a tint of green or red in there.
The chromatic aberration filter... I don't know how noticeable it is to the average player, but the game actually has a built-in filter that creates a slight "chroma" effect to emulate the look of frames through a crt/light. This means the red + blue + green values of the entire screen are split up and adjusted to layer slightly off from each other, giving it a little visual interest. It was AN EXTREME doozy to put in, with my poor programmer coding it and re-coding it until the end. It seemed simple at first, but there are parts where the game zooms in which totally broke the filter! It made out eyes bleed! But it was repaired in the end, so blessing upon you, Sandy. You saved my life.
The reason why I looked to Ie Naki Ko/Nobody's Boy Remi specifically is because that's where I feel the most "pure" energy from. It is a show that leans incredibly hard on it's techniques to get by but because of that it really embodies what I love about old anime-- It has a selfless reverence for its subject that drives you to watch and surrender your heart. Dezaki's powerful directing, Sugino's gorgeous drawings and Kobayashi's majestic paintings come together to make a work that shines. The setting is truly at the forefront with the characters getting lost in the grandeur. That's the attitude I had with SOREKARA: "There are things much greater than us, so isn't it wonderful that we are able to see them side-by-side?" There are many animation techniques that are cost-effective while still being utterly beautiful, I would love to copy them someday but I wasn't able to go that far yet. At least not in the demo. There's still time, I suppose... Studying limited animation from old anime is actually extremely useful when creating visual novels. Understanding the placement of cells and their layering/movement has given me even more ideas for stories!
Tumblr media
I ended up going on a rant about anime again ^^" But it's so beautiful, you must now understand my heart going into the work. I always think of my characters and their journey, of course, but before that I think of the setting. I want the player to experience beautiful and mysterious things alongside their traveling companions. There is still so much more to make. I hope to incorporate more Dezaki-style techniques in this and future works. Please remember the true message of my works.... Not that love finds a way, or that your connections can transform your world...it's that....anime is very, very cool.
Thank you for reading 🙇🏽‍♂️

How do you draw tears and eyes? Those two are some of the two biggest traits in your art style that are so appealing imo, and I'd love to see how you draw said traits!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[all imgs and gifs have alt id]
Okay so, first thing regarding eyes and how to draw them is understanding that when you take some thing in reality to distort it into linework, you have to understand what you're stylization. You can't draw a cow if you've never seen one, yeah? You can't draw an eye without understand the anatomy and reality of what an eye is first.
This isn't to say you HAVE to understand every nuance and science of the eye to depict it lmao. It just means you have to at least be aware of how the muscles shape the face
I mentioned in a previous post where I linked an article discussing Scott Mcloud's book: Making Comics where in he discusses how faces convey emotion.
Scott made 3 books on the subject and if you ever want to make serialized art, please read them they're like a text book for comic artists. It's actually told through comics to teach comics! So it makes it a lot of fun to read. Brilliant work. It gave me so many fundamentals I wouldn't be half the artist i am if I hadn't read them.
So while, yeah, the way i do tears is reminiscent of studio ghibli
Tumblr media
I actually didn't really grow up on Studio Ghibli that much. I watched Spirited Away at age 13, Howls Moving Castle and Kiki's delivery service like, aged 16/17 or so. So maybe that DOES count??? lol. I might of subconsciously took note of how the tears work in those films, it must have left a big impact on me.
But when I draw tears, despite keeping to the above style, mentally I'm thinking of old cartoons like the Flecher brothers or something, where tears are these HUGE, big symbols that take up so much room of the camera close up because IRL tears are subtle and that wouldn't fly with black white fuzzy drawings.
Tumblr media
Which still became a tradition and useful tool for cartoons cartoons even in later decades. The additional "blue" of the water is to make the tears more visible, since the cell shading is very flat and often uses a more pure white. (blue picked cause oceans reflects the blue sky)
Personally I had a big kick on Bugs Bunny late in highschool, so thats very likely something that colored my stylization lmao. Um, after that i SUPER into Wander Over Yonder? Craig McCracken's shapely and flowy artwork left a MAJOR impact on me even if my art is more detailed and anime like.
As for the stylization of the eyes themselves, I'm pretty certain it comes from how Winry Rockbell's eyes were drawn. Mainly in early manga and 2003 anime (though I do like 09/bro more. 03 made some choices. but i'm not here to start a flame war)
Tumblr media
Thats why i give the eyes a more vertical leaning to them, are so big, and have the upper darkness. I just think its neat! I've seen some artists online (though none in particular come to mind) that use the eye shine as pupil which I REALLY like, along with the secondary color to make them really pop. I'll switch to a more traditionally eye shine on certain characters or when necessary (like to emphasize looking in another direction).
I've just kinda simplified the process to pump out so much art for the comic, ideally I'd put more detail to the eyes (ala Anya's overly detailed eyes LMAO) but like, not realistic for a single person team and to keep things consistent. I've kind of learned the importance of keeping things simple lmao. plus, overly detailed work just ain't my thing -w-;

NTT characters in the mid 2000s by Fade31415
[image: a DC fanart with a simple shading style (like cell shading) featuring characters from new teen titans, each wearing civilian clothing that was popular in the 2000s. Raven is wearing a floor-length jean skirt and a spaghetti strap top, and she is crossing her arms and looking down at tara disapprovingly. Tara is wearing loose cargo pants (with zip at the knee to transform into shorts) and a brown T shirt, and she is sticking her tongue out at raven and flipping her off. Victor is wearing denim capris and an orange turtle neck shirt with a knit grey hat, and he has one arm around Tara and one around Kory and is looking down at tara while smiling slightly but also trying to pull her a bit away from raven. Kory is wearing a skin tight tube top rainbow striped dress and pink platform heels, and she has one arm behind vic and is smiling widely. dick and donna are clustered together. Donna is wearing very low cut boot cut jeans with a wide belt and a crop top red shirt and a pink cap, and dick is wearing skinny jeans, red shoes, a vest and a white t shirt. garfield logan is wearing khaki cargo pants and a white hoodie that has his face on it and says “we love gar” and a black trucker hat with a purple visor, and wally is wearing jeans and a yellow polo.end image]
So I am a huge DC nerd and keep a continuously updating timeline to try to figure out when comics "would" have happened if now is the present.
According to my timeline, NTT should be 2007/2008 ish when it just starts.
So... I had to draw them in 2000s era fashion obviously! Since I am extremely Un Fashionable, I had to google what people wore back then even tho I was alive. I can remember the cargo pants. I was so into cargo pants. I think I had some that were just like Terra's
further decisions:
@raven-harlot wound up pickng out raven’s outfit when i was posting potential ref pics in discord XD
Tara is dressed how I would like to dress back then, but she has the feathered hair i didn’t have. she’s flipping off raven b/c she doesn’t like her. vic is telling her to be nice b/c he likes tara AND raven
raven knitting vic’s knit hat. but not his turtle neck, he bought that.
i wound up changing how i draw kory’s hair b/c i have a hard time drawing it in the perez style.
gar has a fanshirt of himself.
wally just wound up in a polo and jeans b/c i cannot imagine him keeping up on fashion trneds sorry wally. i also reffed a long distance runner for his body type and he looks so scrawny now XD

CROB out here giving us such good characters these past few updates!!!
Especially these two, they're so in love I tell ya. I diagnose them with lesbianism
Tumblr media
[ID: A redraw of a scene from Cookie Run: OvenBreak of Black Garlic Cookie and White Ghost Cookie talking to one another while sitting on a rooftop. Black Garlic and White Ghost are drawn in a human-like style with clean lineart, clean coloring and cell shading, while the background is painted in a lineless watercolor style, with a patchy black border around it. /END ID]
Funny though how I drew the two I haven't maxed out yet, while I finally finished maxing out Snake Fruit Cookie yesterday and haven't drawn them yet (I probably should tho lol)
Anyways, our digital art commissions are open! It's the best way to support us, while getting something in return!

some other little details i noticed upon rewatching
- peter B was there when miguel’s universe got wiped. peter was THERE. this explains his pov in this movie, why he sides with miguel, but you can tell he’s conflicted because he still loves miles. but he was THERE with miguel. hes between a rock and a hard place
(also - WHY WAS HE THERE? i need to know more!!!!! how did peter and miguel meet ahead of forming the spider society WTF?!?! this is what i mean that we need an elaboration on miguel’s motivation in the next movie like we need to see more - is he actually lying? lying by omission? warping what happened because of guilt and trauma? whats the truth?? what’s peter’s role in this? we need more!!)
- earth-42 does in fact have a different art style than earth-1610. it’s most notable during the final prowler scene in aaron’s flat. the lineart style is very similar to 1610 but the shading is way different in that scene, very bold, smooth, and has lots of cell shading, whereas 1610 is more painted, with lots of chromatic aberration and printing scan dots
- venom’s “appearance” is literally just that one split second inclusion as a canon event in the web of life scene lol
- during the spot’s very first introduction scene when he’s explaining why he’s miles’ nemesis, and we get the very first of those spot white-black-sketch type scenes, we see the spider from 42 get transported to 1610, and during that we actually see miles-42 in the classroom

Name: Link Namika
Alias(es): Fox
Nickname(s): Kit (Twilight), Hero, Champion, Champ, Sage
Birthday: (I am currently working on a calendar system for this AU, so this will come later.)
Age When Introduced: 23
Pronouns: He/She/They (depending on the day)
Height: 5'4
Source: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom
Sexuality: Polyamorous, Panromantic, Asexual
There will be major spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom under this. Like. Endgame spoilers.
Favorite Color(s): Wild loves blue, but a very specific blue. They can’t help but notice that the color of the Sheika magic and the color of their favorite wolf’s eyes are the same blue and they love that shade all the more for it.
Disliked Color(s): Red. Blood moons and the calamity itself were both red and he isn’t here for that. They don't mind Gerudo red, or the red of apples, but other than that miss them with that color. Any shade of red outside of Gerudo red tends to send danger signals off in their mind.
Skills: Fox has a number of skills, but one of their biggest assets is that his fighting style is so diverse that they can adjust it on the fly as needed. Their sword skills are a convoluted mix of old-remembered knight's training, attempting to copy how monsters fight, attempting to copy how a wolf fights, Gerudo fighting, and the variety of things that Twilight (who also has quite the ensemble of sword skills) taught them. Their spear skills are much the same, but without the help from Twilight and adding in what they learned from the Zora.
Over the course of their two adventures they have had abilities given to them and later taken away so when you add that into the mix you end up with a fighter who is very quick at thinking on their feet and able to adapt to basically any situation.
At this point, Fox still has a couple unique abilities; flurry rush, bullet time, fuse, ultrahand, and recall. And he's basically mastered how to use these abilities for combat (and outside of combat in some cases).
Outfit/Design Notes: Fox has a wide array of clothing and accessories that they will wear whenever they feel it fits (whether for looks or practicality). And it isn't uncommon for them to change their hairstyle. to match their outfit either. But even with all this variety, there are some things that remain the same.
Fox has a number of scars scattered across their torso and arms, many of which are from when the guardian beams hit them 100 years ago. They also have a method they use to let people know what their current gender is using earrings. Blue/sapphire earrings are for boy days, red/ruby earrings are for girl days, and purple/amethyst earrings are for they/them days.
Also, after Fox beat Ganondorf and Sonia and Rauru used their body to channel magic into Zelda to return her to herself it also returned his arm to normal. Well, mostly. Neither he nor Zelda came out of the adventure looking quite how they did before. Fox's right arm and shoulder are covered in black markings that now lay not only where the marks used to be on their shoulder, but also tracing where the gold band-like structures used to be on them. And the skin that isn't directly marked like has a sort of bluish-grey tint to it.
They still wear the energy cells on their hip and there is now a dark green energy stone resting against the eye above where the energy cells sit.
Other: Fox is gender-fluid, shifting between he/him, she/her, and they/them. And they’re also polyamorous, pantomantic, and asexual. They have a qpr with their Zelda and a romantic relationship with both Sidon and Yona. At this point Fox remembers everything from before the Calamity, but the memories lack emotion and inner thoughts so they don’t feel like they belong to them. Because of this they don’t really identify as the person from back then.
By this point, it has been almost a year since the end of totk and they’ve fairly adjusted to the changes to their own body their abilities thanks to the loss of Rauru's arm followed by him obtaining Minaru's Secret Stone. They do miss having the other sages travel with them sometimes, but they feel better knowing that Zelda has a form of protection mo matter how far apart they are. Plus their own projection helps protect Zelda as well. And this also allows them to always be fairly aware of if she was in danger or not. And the general direction she was in in comparison to them.
Over the years since waking up in the Shrine of Resurrection Fox has gotten a bit better about being able to talk verbally if they feel it's needed. The words no longer stick in their chest quite as badly, but they still aren't very comfortable on their throat so they much prefer using Hylian Sign if at all possible.

🎶, 👗, 🌼 for Vivian and Dawn please 🥺💕?
..........
Vivian Faust
🎶 - How do they sound? Describe their voice.
Vivian has a calm and even voice, even at a young age. It's actually a little on the low side. She still sounds very much like a child, but there's a quality to Vivian's voice that's flat because she doesn't speak with that much inflection.
The voice claim I have for Vivian is Akari Kitō, whose voice roles include Nezuko Kamado from Demon Slayer, Barbara from Genshin Impact, and Hiromi Sugita from ERASED. Though the main role that inspired this voice claim is her part as Kate from Shadows House. Various samples of Kitō-san's voice can be heard here in this video.
👗 - Describe their style
Vivian's style is a mix of dark, cute, and elegant. Her wardrobe largely consists of black and white with dark blues and purples found in there too. Lots off poofy skirts, petticoats, and lace for Vivian. Don't be surprised if you see her with a bow in her hair or tied around her neck, decoration like that highlights that Vivian is, in fact, a gift./hj Also, Vivian has never touched pants in her life. She wears shorts of some kind underneath her skirts but full pants? Never. The closest she comes to is wearing hakama trousers since those are very open and flowy like the skirts she enjoys.

🌼 - Assign them an aesthetic
Gothic Lolita, without a doubt! She wears lots of dark clothing. Her room is decorated with dark wood furniture and candles. There's probably a fake skull somewhere in her room. But also, there is cuteness to Vivian's life. Stuffed animals and bows and dark red poppy flowers. Vivian's cute features mixed with her usual flat reactions also fits in with the Gothic Lolita aesthetic.

Dawn Faust
🎶 - How do they sound? Describe their voice.
Bright and energetic is how Dawn's voice is, a perfect match for her personality! She can also be a little on the loud side. When she buckles down to show her serious side, her voice tends to drop a little in pitch but it'll perk right up once Dawn is free to relax. While not much for singing, her voice is described as being quite melodious.
If I were to do a voice claim, I'd say that Dawn would sound like Kana Hanazawa who is known for playing Mitsuri in Demon Slayer, Red Blood Cell in Cells at Work, and Hinata in March Comes in like a Lion. Her voice can be heard here.
👗 - Describe their style
Dawn's style is simpler than Vivian's style but still rather elegant. I imagine Dawn wearing lots of blue in various shades, mostly lighter ones though to match her eyes. The skirts she wears would have some light ruffling. She's got pants and simple blouses to wear when she's out on missions as a Magic Knight. Dawn also wears lovely little ribbons in her hair, a habit she picked up from Miss Acylla (@faewraithsworld's oc).

Also, Dawn is a boots girl. Brown, well-worn, lace-up boots. She's almost never seen out of boots. She's even got heeled boots to wear to fancy occasions. Nacht blames Finral for Dawn's liking of lace-up boots since he wore a similar style back in the day.

🌼 - Assign them an aesthetic
I think Dawn's aesthetic is half cottagecore and half ethereal. She's more cottagecore when she's dressed casually, simple and maybe even rustic at times. And the ethereal part of her aesthetic comes in her choice of room decor. There are delicate things of beauty like gossamer curtains and a vase of flowers. She's also got things with a bit of sparkle to them like stained glass art or crystal figurines, illuminated by special lamps made from her own magic.

Thinking about my art process again :D
Usually, I only do character-centric drawings like the one pictured above, so I start off with the head. I have a loose idea of what I'll do with the body, but it all sorta flows in after that point.
My favorite part to work on is usually the chest and shoulders though, because that decides the entire composition of the rest of my piece. Here you can see I was thinking of adding a second character, and I positioned the collarbone towards the right, before I scrapped the second place and shifted it left.
I'm also a fan of big blocky shapes. N is probably a design I love to much because I've added so much space that I can fill w/ the same color as the lineart. The gloves and "horns" being the most obvious example. I don't do it everywhere though. The spaces between the bones in her tail are solid black, but her sockets and inside of her mouth are colored. The space where her gums would be is filled. It's subtle, but it's consistent across my drawings of her.
Then with technique on coloring here, I mixed it up (in the least mixy way possible). I mostly used Cell-shading and color blocking. Aka, one color per shade, no lighting, that's it. I love this style, and actually did most of it manually instead of using a layer filter. I think that usually makes the shading pop more than it usually would. However, the colors for inside the mouth and the eyelights (basically anywhere with magic) I used the blur effect and did just a touch more visual depth than I did with other sections. A lot of characters I'll do this with to provide a focus, like w/ Light I'll blur their hair and shirt, and Sun I'll blur his sleeves. It's kind of a show of how much emphasis I want to put on a character. It draws my eyes there a lot quicker than anywhere else.
The overlay affects I did add were the gaussian blur of white and dark red. Both of them ate confined within the shape of N, not escaping elsewhere outside the box.
The box itself is a storytelling tool I love to use. My most recent drawing w/ static (which I think I'll review next) uses it too. It's a bit of left over from my time on Amino, honestly. Leaving the background to match that of your post, making it look like your drawing is a part of the site itself. It's an affective method of standing out. A transparent N doodle like this box could mean she'd fit anywhere without the restraint of a setting. Digital sticker vibes. It's one of my favorite things, working with the negative space.
I'm not sure what's prompting this, but if I find any more full drawings I have videos saved for, then I'll bring them up and talk about the way I worked on them like this!
