Simblr Gratitude Day

It came to my attention that today is Simblr Gratitude Day. That's such a lovely idea and wonderful gesture, and I hope it gets picked up by many. 💙

Today, some members of the simblr community will receive one or more sweet messages of people who appreciate them or the work they do. The CC creators for all their hard work, the graphic artists whose beautiful shots amaze us, and the storytellers whose stories always keep many readers wanting more. And that's totally deserved. The popularity of these members of the community is absolutely earned, and they should be celebrated and complimented. 💙

However... Many members of this community will probably receive nothing. The ones who don't create content, but just share shots of their gameplay, the ones who pour their hearts and souls into their stories, but average maybe 14 notes per post (🙋🏼‍♀️) and the ones who never or hardly ever post their own content but are here to follow and support others. The ask boxes of these members will probably stay empty and I know for some people this can trigger insecurities and feelings of not being good enough. While this is not anyone's intention, it is a natural social media effect; the lack of love can hurt as much as a bad reaction.

So, MY appreciation and gratitude on this day goes out to all these members of the community: If your pictures seem to go unnoticed, if your story only has a few loyal followers, if you’re only here to read and follow others; Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting others. Thank you for sharing everything that means so much to you and allowing us to be a part of it. Please keep doing what you do.

And, to all MY followers, especially the ones who actually read, like, comment on and/or reblog my posts; I do not only thank you, I actually love you. Thank you for being here for me. 💙

I like how the movie tones down the "living in Mario's shadow" aspect.

Same. I think part of that is the way Mario's story plays out, because at this point the guy doesn't really have much of a shadow to cast.

In the games, since Mario was the conduit for the player, it was important for the none-enemy characters he interacted with to be fairly friendly and likable, building Mario up and helping him out so that whoever's holding the controller feels cheerful and encouraged.

There was strong emphasis on making the player feel like a hero.

The movie, however, is meant to showcase how much the odds are against Mario and the sheer level of determination he has in order to power through. Major emphasis on him being an everyman. As a result, almost everyone and everything he encounters physically and/or verbally thrashes him on sight.

Only Luigi compares in terms of the amount of bs he has to put up with, so there's a sense that the two plumbers are on equal terms. It's not an experienced hero and a confused goofball, they're both confused goofballs just barely making it, and doing their best to lift each other up however they can.

Ok it's soooo funny to see Miles and Phoenix interacting now after episode 4 because Miles is always like "I will destroy you, don't you dare even mention evidence to me, are you that shit of a lawyer" and everyone's like "he must really hate you :/" and Phoenix always goes "nah he's just in work mode, he loves me actually"

He can absolutely separate who they are in court vs out of it and doesn't hold anything against him out of it, while Miles seems to have an existential crisis every minute they're going against each other, "oh now you think I killed the guy right? After all that effort to prove my innocence you're against me at last, just like everyone else?" And Phoenix is there like "huh??? I was just asking if you're ok after listening to all those rumours..."

And then he goes and tag teams it with Phoenix in court, completely disregarding his role as prosecution lmao

The parallel between Ned and Arya being positioned as the unlikelier, "lesser" younger siblings with older siblings being expected to fulfill a certain role is interesting. Especially considering it is Ned who ends up ruling, and Arya's current importance to the Northern plot + the plentiful leadership foreshadowing in her arc.

Not to be cringe Luaisy trash, but- what exactly do you think makes Daisy start crushing on Luigi? Is there a specific trait/moment that makes her go “….Oh. This green guy kinda rules.” or? (You can answer the same for Luigi too if you want, but I figured he may be a bit more obvious, haha! Unless you think he starts crushing on her for more unexpected reasons???)

I think it was a slow buildup of tiny traits.

The first thing that struck her was his clumsiness: the way he flails and fumbles the catch himself is while still earnestly putting himself out there. It evoked a certain sense of both endearment and protectiveness.

Next was how sweet and polite he was to the point of being a little bit of a doormat. That was when she started rooting for him above everyone else.

Then, Luigi showed how brave and capable actually he was, fighting alongside his brother to make sure that those who couldn't defend themselves were safe despite being terrified himself.

That was her "oh no" moment, when she realized she didn't just like him as a friend and a person she enjoyed hanging out with, she liked him liked him, and every time she thought about him she got that tell-tale flutter in her chest.
