Close to Perfect by LoveThyEnemy- (Explicit) Loki sleeps with an almost-his-Mobius while searching for His-Mobius. Okay, okay this one is hurt/ no comfort, usually not my choice of reading material, but it’s so (heartbreakingly) beautifully written I had to include it.

Baby’s First Yuletide by Tears_and_smiles- Loki, Mobius and baby Frida spend their first Yuletide with Loki's family surrounded by love. I’m a sucker for a Lokius baby fic and this one hits all the surrounded by love feels.

stumble into love like a challenge above by RunnyYolk- Loki is distracted by Mobius’ cologne… first kiss and romantic declarations follow. (This fic is gorgeously written; more than my silly one sentence summary can describe)

I feel like these fics are only a sliver of the excellent fics I read in that time between season one and two. There are simply too many incredible stories to fit into one post! Speaking of, I tried really hard to only pick my favorites but honestly I could recommend the entire works of the authors listed here.

Or does anyone else choose fanfiction by calculating the ratio between the number of Kudos and the number of Hits?

And if the ratio is less then 1/10, then you don’t read it?

I’ve been using this system forever, it helped me to avoid so many useless reading. I wish @ao3org will add this as a filter!

Lokius fic recs

I was requested to make a list of my lokius fic recs, so here are ten some that have lived in my brain rent free since i read them (in order of descending wordcount)

Rising from the Ashes by Insert_Witty_User_Name_Here (119k)

written after s1, this is basically a whole novel of what s2 could've been like. And it's phenomenal. There's 27 chapters, but i was reading it as each one was released over the course of 4 months, and it was a whole rollercoaster. You'll find yourself siding with some characters at some times and then the others the other times. You read it and even you are unsure of which side you're on. If you have the time, definitely read this.

Fit the Profile by WaterHorseyBlues (77k)

A detective AU. Someone is trying to assassinate Loki for his inheritance, and Mobius is the private detective on the case. I won't say much, but this is a must read, and probably one of the classic fics in this fandom

Another Prince by drunkbedelia (14k)

canon divergence from s1e3. I don't know how to explain this one except it straight up vibes. Loki and Sylvie are chaotic siblings. Sylvie is scheming around (and def ships loki and mobius). This is one of those fics that would also be considered a classic here.

As You Find the String by athousandteeth (12k)

a s2 fix it (but don't think there isn't suffering before it pays off). The characters are incredibly written and one line in this literally changed how i view life itself

Six Feet Closer by lonelyhourglass47 (11k)

AU where Loki and Mobius are rivals at an office, but circumstances force them to quarantine in an apartment together for 2 weeks. (And to make matters worse, Loki keeps falling asleep in Mobius' bed). Very fun, and this is one I love to come back to time to time.

Show, Don't Tell by pinkpeachtea (6k)

OB writes an 800 page sci-fi romance novel about Loki and Mobius (but changes the name) and insists that all his friends form a book club for it. The titular two get heavily invested (yet still are oblivious it's based on them).

Pen-demonium by dinosuns (6k)

Loki steals a pen, creating 6k words of pure banter. When I think of classic lokius fics, i think anything by dinosuns. This is one of their more banter-focused ones, but they also write amazing 10k long fics that read like prose. This isn't just a dinosuns fic rec as it is a rec for the author themselves

The Best Gift of All by frommyhearttoyours (6k)

AU where Loki is a teacher at the elementary school Mobius' kids attend. Takes place during the school's christmas concert reception. Very cute, very Hallmark.

Stray by RarePairFairy (5k)

Mobius goes back to his timeline to raise his kids and brings Loki along with him. Told through the perspective of his kids Sean and Kevin

Following On a Wing and a Prayer, read Variation on a Theme. Director Mobius is struggling to rebuild the authoritarian TVA, especially with a megalomaniac Kang on the loose and the multiverse seeming to unravel at the seams. President Loki is back from the Void and ready to help… but can he be trusted? A beautiful Lokius adjacent story about trust and healing with plenty of mystery and worldbuilding. And Mobius variants my beloveds!) (40,060 words and counting)

Loki Series Season One Divergent

where the edge began by RunnyYolk - Canon divergent from season 1, episode 3. Loki follows Sylvie through the time door but it doesn’t result in the Roxxcart Divorce. The depth of the TVA's lies are unraveled from the inside instead as Loki and Mobius stumble their way into a real trusting partnership...and more. (189,207 words)

Heartbreak anthem by ylc- Canon divergent slightly from season one, episode 3. What if Loki and Mobius had been sleeping together before Roxxcart? Making the Roxxcart Divorce all the angstier? (With a hopeful ending). (25,051 words)

For the longest time by Mirilya - a Lokius Hanahaki fic. If you’re looking for some whumpy, angsty, unrequited and then requited love, this is the fic for you. Starring a helplessly in love Mobius. (30,032 words)

With You Through The Storms by DewdropReader - a post Thor 1 + Human AU. Mobius finds a scared cat in the middle of a rainstorm and takes him home to keep him safe. The cat sticks around and he and Mobius become close friends. One day Mobius comes home to find his cat has transformed into a person who claims to be Loki, God of Mischief. An oh-so-soft domestic everyone needs a hug/gets a hug Lokius love story. (62,081 words and counting)

Got your world in my hand by Mirilya - Post season one (or any season tbh) Mobius and Loki are living happily at the TVA. Now, it’s time for Mobius to visit Asgard. Sweeping romantic declarations ensue! (10,465 words)

What Makes A Good Man by chamel - CIA AU. Mobius just wants to bring down the notorious and prolific art thief he's been studying for years. He certainly doesn't expect said thief to be so handsome, or charming, or... helpful? (98,634 words)

Fit the Profile by WaterHorseyBlues- Detective AU. Loki and Private Detective Mobius work together to unravel a mystery after Loki is unexpectedly taken hostage one night. What at first seems like unmotivated violence turns into something much bigger than either Loki or Mobius could have expected. Could the answer lie in Loki's past? WHY DID NOBODY TOLD ME THIS STUPID THEORY ABOUT LOKI S2 THAT JUST CAME TO ME?!

(maybe someone did have the same idea, but somehow I haven't read anyone saying this?)

Let me try to put this in the most coherent way I'm capable at the moment.

It's literally 3:30 am. I'm grieving my old family pet. I can't sleep. My room feels like I'm slowly being roasted like a chicken on a spit...

So, I was trying to sleep when, OUT OF NOWHERE, I started thinking about Loki. Specifically, about that blonde McDonald's cashier. I was like, that kid was so sweet he reminds me of... MOBIUS... *🤯*

And here is the train of thoughts that followed that: That kid IS Mobius (did they ever mention the kid's name?) Sylvie went to make her life on one random timeline and unknowingly met the younger version of Mobius. Some time passed. They got to know each other, they fell in love, they got married and had two kids, at some point Sylvie got tired of that life and went away looking for another adventure... (another city? Another timeline? That's not that fitting to her? but maybe the divorce was a mutual agreement?) Mobius raised the kids as good as he could, and then later, he met another version of Loki (our TVA Loki) and he felt attracted to him, threatened him with a wrench blah, blah *SPAGHETTIFICATION*...

I'm writing this as fast as I can... I'm not thinking straight, forgive me.

I'm going to try to sleep now, but this thing is rattling around my brain and when I wake up I will revise this. I have to rewatch those episodes to backup or destroy these ideas.

What I can't remember, and it's basically the thing that initiated all this, is what's the blonde cashier's name. Maybe that was Mobius' name at some point in that timeline (And then, later in that same reality he changed it to Don??? It doesn't make sense???)

Another thing, did Sylvie ever met Don? *🤦🤷* (I'm questioning my abilities to recall info rn. I really need to rewatch Loki s2, as painful as that it.)

Anyways, that was the stupid theory, and even if it not a good one I kind of like it... Imagine Mobius falling in love with a Loki, not once, but twice in the same timeline and none of them not knowing it. Wouldn't it be so funny, and tragic? 😎🥺😭😔😌

I adored the description of Loki's outfit in the first chapter and had to draw my interpretation of it!

I actually didn't even bother watching the second season of Loki because of the cheap marketing and inconsistent storytelling.

It just felt like the plot was lifted off somewhere it would have made sense, and a character with a similar ego was replaced with Loki and goes through an arc that might have made sense for a blank slate character, but not someone who already has a backstory.

Loki doesn't even feel like Loki after three episodes in S1. The whole point of having a show like that just seems to be about the TVA and Sylvie.

Also the whole genderfluid thing. They 'confirmed' it in the promo and had a line in the script that went completely against anything they just said.

I knew at once that the writers, directors and other parts of production were really just pulling it in different directions and it would probably sound like a jazz trumpeter and a metal guitarist trying to improvise after knowing each other for 15 minutes.

I've been meaning to watch it just so I can have educated opinions on all of it but it's just,, so hard to get into. I definitely agree the marketing was cheap, they did with the 80s McDonald's like they did DB Cooper!Loki and made it centric to the advertising because McDonalds was also getting something out of it which is kinda ass seeing as realistically Loki Laufeyson would burn 6 of them down before he ate in one 😭

I personally don't like either of the major ships in the show but the forced Sylki shit in season 1 really got to me. Like not only did she completely replace him as the main character in HIS show, she's also a variant of him who he wants to make out with and overall it just reads as lazy writing and it's extremely disappointing that Mike Waldron has been put in charge of Multiverse of Madness and The Kang Dynasty since, due to the popularity of the Loki TV show. I was talking to my boyfriend about this last night but it kinda reminds me of the complaints people had ab the last Indiana Jones movie but opposite? Like everyone complained his best friend's daughter was gonna replace him bc she's a Mary Sue and she rlly isnt, she's more reminiscent of Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark she just doesn't wanna fuck him. But the difference is Indy is a character who's majorly blank for little boys to project themselves onto. Which is great!! It works for those kind of movies, but they're not character development centric like the individual mcu movies tend to be. Loki is characterized in a way that he's drowning in identity issues and family problems and he experiences growth in every installment whether it be positive or negative. It doesn't make sense to take the formula of an Indidna Jones movie where he meets up with a woman who's typically a love interest and has her own issues that are only slightly touched on because that's not the focus, and they go do the plot.

Sylvie is not an Indy Girl, they straight up are trying to replace Loki with Sylvie. And you can tell the character wasn't supposed to have as much importance as she does in the show bc the character was worked on more after the actress they chose was buddies with a producer ( and this is no hate to the actress I'm sure she's delightful everything I've seen her in in terms of interviews has been lovely ).

I also absolutely agree they should've just made a tva mini series to introduce the tva rather than bringing back a dead character who soon will not make much sense anyway because Tom Hiddleston is getting older (and also he deserves to branch out in his career).

The genderfluid thing was a cash grab and it sucks ass, they just want money for acknowledging things already canon in the comics, same with confirming him as bisexual.

My boyfriend is actually writing a fic on ao3 called Find Me that's rlly good if you want Loki content that isn't related to the show.

(YES this is shameless promotion sshhhhshshsh) but fr the loki TV show makes me more confident in my screenwriting bc t h a t got put on disney plus. I'm also working on a Loki show rewrite in my spare time!!
