#lmm headcanons

Hi I’m not sure if you write headcanon requests but I’ve one if you do, please? - Wearing Lin’s hoodies and solid white t-shirts (or any of his t-shirts (and clothes) for that matter of fact).
If you don’t write headcanons then that’s okay! Maybe this could be an imagine errr… one-shot??
*me realising how many of my Lin fics involve my main character somehow ending up in his clothes bc I definitely have a thing about this 💀🫠🥵* oops you just fuelled something here…
so, fuck yeah, let’s do this
the first time, it’s innocent. just Lin being his ever so sweet self on a sunset walk around his park, and lending you his hoodie when you feel a sudden shiver in the early evening cold.
smooth as anything, he pulls it over his head (and you try not to look as his t-shirt rides up a little, but hell, that teasing glimpse of smooth tan skin at his hip will feed into your fantasies for a while yet) and he offers you the hoodie, no questions asked.
when you slip into it, it’s far from a perfect fit - but it feels perfect only because it’s his.
the soft fleece envelopes you in his warmth and his clean, delicate scent still clings to the fabric - and suddenly the temperature outside no longer matters.
“better?” he teases, admiring how cute it is on you.
“better,” you affirm, glancing coyly up at him.
he catches you blushing and all he can do is smile, as he wraps his arm around your shoulders and drops a tender kiss to your forehead.
you never did return that hoodie to him. but Lin gets this cute, smug little smirk on his face when he sees you wearing it again, and he never asks for it back.
but later in your relationship, you end up crashing at his apartment more often than not, the two of you build a routine of falling asleep in a tangle of bare limbs and bedsheets - and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
at some point you’d best save yourself the walk of shame and leave some spare clothes in his wardrobe instead of stealing all of his, but for now…
you locate your jeans on the floor of his bedroom and pair them with one of his white t-shirts, a supple cotton v-neck that he’d looked downright delicious in last night… before you’d gotten him out of it.
now there’s a memory…
his familiar scent and that enticing new cologne still linger on it and you never really knew it was possible to be so turned on just from wearing his clothes, but there’s something inherently sexy about it and perhaps that’s moreso his fault.
and apparently, it works both ways.
Lin glances up from his coffee as you emerge from his bedroom, and his pretty brown eyes darken when he notices.
they’re intense. lusting. hungry.
“is that mine?”
“sure is. you like?”
he doesn’t answer.
slowly sets his cup down on the table, bites his lip and rises to his feet.
he strides across the room to you, your gaze fixed on him all the way.
once he’s close enough, he slowly places a hand on your hip
he’s delicate, careful, and you feel the heat of his palm through the thin cotton…
until he roughly grabs the fabric in a fist, hooks a finger into the belt loop on your jeans to pull you another step towards him, and you place your palms flat against his bare chest as he gazes down at you, lips parted, pure heat and desire.
“keep it on,” he whispers, dipping his head to meet your waiting lips.
and so you do.
(this might’ve turned into a mini fic tho I’m so sorry 😅)
visual refs for his super soft hoodie & the white v-neck tee:

headcanon that hermes kids have enhanced speed due to their father being a messenger for the gods, so this gives them the ability to run really fast (typically to get away from the scene of the crime) and to talk really fast (cough, rapping, cough)

Begging for you to talk about OJV Stans and Marj’s friendship. Mari coming out to Stan first and whenever she is having a meltdown him always zooming to find Kenny or Kyle is so wholesome. I always head cannon that Stan would view Marj like a little sister so your interpretation of their friendship makes me so happy. I would love to hear more facts/head cannns about them :3
Oh my god first of all HELL YES OJV Marj and Stan, their friendship slays so hard and I love that you’re asking abt it!
One of the things about OJV Stan is that he IS the Dad Friend. By which I mean he’s extremely protective but also unequipped for actual crises, and is prone to inadvertently indulging in shenanigans. The way this extends to Marj? Lemme get goin.
So when she came out to him, bro was CONFUSED like “uhhhh why am I the first person you’re talking about this with? Why not, I dunno, Kenny or something” like Stan fully isnt the person to go to for advice but he IS the person to confide in (plus he gives really good hugs if u need them) and he actually cried when her answer was “I just felt like I could trust you is all” this sweet boy, if he doesn’t know what to do in a situation he’s GONNA find someone who will, so he went “what about talking to Kyle? He might know more about this than me?” And she read him for absolute filth lmao all “well speakin of, that’s why I came to you. You have your own little secret that you’ve been scared to bring up, dontcha” AGDGJKLH
Nah but seriously, their friendship is so wholesome, she frequently scolds Stan for indulging Kenny’s recklessness, he’s out here like “dude Marj that’s a pyramid scheme don’t fuck with that shit” (she winds up running it lmfao) and may not always be the most observant person, but he knows his friends and ALWAYS recognizes the signs of Marj starting to shut down, and she knows that. She says the word and Stan is finding her someone with the emotional tools to help. I also like to think that Stan COULD be one of those people. OrangeJuiceVerse Stan Marsh is actually very emotionally intelligent, but he isn’t confident enough in that to think he has any room to help others. It’s the same reason that later down the line he wrestles with taking on a sponsee.
A more fun note: in that first year of college, the trio of Marj Stan and Cartman are THE musical theatre gang. I’m talking they are DESTROYING karaoke. I don’t know why I have this headcanon but I do and I love it. Another is that when Stan gets in trouble with her he gets so guilty for disappointing her lmfao like out here looking like a sad puppy all “I’m sorry Marj Ken and I thought hanging off the roof was the best way to get the top piece of his sculpture attached” smh “don’t tell Kyle” “don’t tell me what?” Lmao
And Stan is SUPER protective of anyone in his group, plus he’s kind of a social justice warrior lol he isn’t confrontational as Kyle and Cartman are but he’s GONNA go “hey dude that’s not cool” call someone out for being a dick and he’s intimidating when he gets mad! Like OJV Stan is a BIG BOY he’s a gentle giant for sure but fuck with someone he loves and suddenly the golden retriever boy is SCARY. karaoke trio nights someone says something transphobic and he is there all “the fuck did you just say to her?” Now Marj and Stan are both the ‘muscle’ of their group. Both are tall and strong and could definitely fuck someone up. They don’t, but they could. Both are pretty gentle in nature which is super sweet, but they could do some damage if they had to. They’re a slay duo tbh
That’s what I got rn dude, thank u for the ask I love the OJV homies!!!

KILMENY OF THE OLD ORCHARD READALONG.
Ladies, Gentleman and Everyone in Between & Beyond, may I kindly introduce a honourable member of an elite Club of LMM CATS™, our new Royalty:
Sir Timothy the Cat:
Tumblr media
Sir Timothy The Cat (Timothy to the few chosen ones Sir Timothy views as worthy of his friendship) Williamson, resides in Lindsay (Prince Edward Island) alongside his adoring parents: Mrs. and Mr. Williamsons. He enjoys being petted and praised, as well as eating first-class bacon from Mr. Robert's (his father's) plate.
Sir Timothy's favourite treat is a bowlful of fresh cream.
Sir Timothy never forgets his manners, eats in a dainty way, and purrs in a resonant gratitude.
Sir Timothy has his own special place on the kitchen bench (warning: the place is NOT to be sat on by anyone else but Sir Timothy).
The other place Sir Timothy finds agreeable is the top of the dresser, where he is able to gravely address himself to the disposal of various tid-bits.
Here are some heart-warming photos of Sir Timothy's kittenhood:

Sir Timothy showing a grand dignity from the first moments of his life! (He shall not be teased.)
Tumblr media
Sir Timothy accepting tribute and graciously bestowing a meow.

Sir Timothy living by the rule of Confucius "Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail."
Wasn't he a handsome little lad?
But please, do not disrespect Sir Timothy, for he is a brave and courageous cat-being:
Tumblr media
Let us hear the the cautious warning by a young gentelman, Mr. Larry West, a former school teacher of Lindsay (Prince Edward Island):
“The name of this animal is Timothy and as such he must always be called and referred to. Never, [...], let him hear you speaking of [him] as ‘the cat,’ or even as ‘Tim.’ You will never be forgiven and he will not consider you a fit person to have charge of the school." [Edit: Mr. Larry West himself had learnt this lesson too late].
Let us finish this short introduction by showing the recent photo session Sir Timothy agreed to take part in:

michael named his headphones martha and george (see: my random bmc headcanons post) as a pjo reference except. jake has actually not read pjo. he probably grew up on idfk penguin classics or something instead. so when he becomes aware of this knowledge he just stares at michael blankly and goes "... Washington? Like Martha and George Washington?", to which michael stares back and deadpans "Yes. Like Martha and George Washington." (meanwhile, christine is spluttering in the background in disbelief.)

This is something that has been bugging me for a while.
Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera served as Latino representation in the reboot series and while I like his character I think not pointing to an specific country for his roots gives the freedom to choose (specially to Latinos who would like to project) but at the same time it feels lazy, like another American production throwing all Latino cultures in the same bag.
The DT Wiki claims he has Cuban roots but I don't think there's a canon source for this, isn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Another popular country is Puerto Rico because of LMM (his VA) ancestry.
Anyway, I'd like to hear your headcanons about him, tell me which country did you pick and why. Was he born there? Does he visit said country? I'd like to hear everything.
Tumblr media
Oh, and if you are Latino I'll gladly take drawing request of Fenton doing something related to your culture, for example: Fenton drinking mate, Fenton saying your favorite insult.

"Choose violence ask game" - I would love to know your answers for questions #12 and #16. Thank you so much in advance!
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
OOOH this one is tricky. I'm going to say Susan because apparently she is quite unpopular given the results of the question of the week a few months back 😂she chases a misogynist with a pot of boiling oil, what's not to like?? Also, I do think Anne did Roy more than a little dirty, so I'll throw Roy on the pile too. Lastly, not to ignite a thermonuclear bomb (this IS the violence game), but I think Dean Priest should be part of this list as well. imo he's a terrible person but an interesting character, and the emily trilogy would not have been half as strong if he were absent from it. I'm not sure I would use the word 'like', but to my observance he's pretty hated for obvious reasons, and I do think he's a necessary presence for the books to be what they are; there are so many layers to his plot points that imo they really enrich the book - the representation of the effect of the patriarchy on art as limestreet brilliantly pointed out, the mr. rochester perception as discussed by no-where-new-hero (he wants to be rochester, but is he?), the tie to LMM's theme of such figures throughout her work and the question of what caused that theme - reading the scholarship on him is always fascinating
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
you know I don't think I read enough lmm fanfic to answer this question...my usual answer here is genderswap but I don't think that's really a thing with LMM, it's more with star wars (never forget Galpatine)

Jane of Lantern Hill chapters 3 and 4
Standard Jane warning for emotional abuse; new warning for genre-typical child servant abuse.
Two evening events in a row means that I am quite behind. We're doing these two chapters together because they're both about Jody.
The very first thing I noticed, and one that's purely craft-related, is that this appears to be the book in which LMM experiments with ellipses. Blue Castle was all about em dashes, Jane is all about ellipses. I haven't fully been able to pin down what she wants the effect to be. A pause, clearly, but why an ellipsis? I've never seen them used in the middle of sentences like this, to offset clauses or separate ideas. Did she get bored of em dashes? Did her publishers give her bonuses based on the number of characters she used? Was she playing a game with herself to keep the drafting process interesting? I feel like I'm reading this book through the medium of texts sent by my grandmother (who is much nicer than Jane's, thankfully.)
Second minor detail: Jane has RPG character or anime protagonist eyes, apparently. I know she probably intended them to be light, warm brown, but every marigold I've ever seen has looked like this:
Tumblr media
This is an eye color that I give my characters in video games when I want them to look like aliens. And "marigold" as a color is a shade of yellow, not brown. So I'm not sure why that's the descriptor LMM reached for, but it is now my firm headcanon that Jane has yellow-orange anime eyes.
Anyway, on to the actual contents of the chapters. Between the rich girl befriending the poor girl and the whole imaginary garden sequence, I am getting such Frances Hodgson Burnett vibes, you have no idea. I don't know if LMM also read her books, or if they were just working similar themes, or if I just imprinted on FHB as a child and see traces of her everywhere.
So Jody is an orphan, kept on at the boarding house out of "charity", a word which in this context means "a servant you don't have to pay or treat well." She goes to school "every day there was no extra rush" which probably means she's not very well educated, which will make it even harder for her to find better circumstances when she grows up.
And she's clearly set up as a deliberate mirror for Jane. Here they are, two girls who on the surface couldn't be more different, who immediately recognize each other as kin because actually, under the surface, their lives are very similar. This is where we diverge sharply from the Sara Crewe/Samantha-from-American-Girls model. Jane doesn't just befriend Jody because she's kind-hearted and sees someone in trouble, she befriends Jody because here is another person who understands what it's like to live in fear of other people. Jane's material circumstances are much better than Jody's, but her emotional ones are just about as bleak.
That thread gets reinforced in chapter 4, when Mary and Frank are talking about Jane's mother. Jane's mother has every material thing she could possibly want -- and a great many that she doesn't want -- but she's not actually happy. She's just as trapped as Jody is, fully reliant on the good will of someone else to keep her home and fully aware that if she upsets that person too much she could be turned out with nowhere to go. And, like Jody, she doesn't seem to have the resources to just leave anyway and make a go of it. Jody is trapped because she's 11, and Mrs. Stuart is trapped because she's never had to make do on her own, and the one time she tried to leave it ended poorly and she's now too scared to try again.
Jane, meanwhile, is also trapped due to her age, and it seems that at each new turn she encounters a new bar in her cage she'd never considered before. "It had never occurred to her that she was not at liberty to give away her own doll" is such a good sentence. LMM is so good at simultaneously conveying Jane's youth -- she is learning these things for the first time -- and also showing the absurdity of the situation. No, says the narrative. Grandmother is not doing these things for Jane's own good. She will not understand when she is older. She is being a cruel and petty tyrant, and that's all she's ever been.

lin as a sugar daddy. that's it. that's the tweet.
oh. fuck, yes.
shit, anon. you just broke my brain, I’m having a whole entire delusional daydream here…
on the low, he’d be smooth about it. not that he needs to give you anything else to keep you around, but that’s never a bad thing… treats you like a princess but that’s alright cause he’s literally the king of your heart. older and wiser, that’s nice; he knows what he wants, knows what you want before you do… on your knees, whenever he wants you to be - or even if he doesn’t ask, tbh, just that one look, he has that power over you and he damn well knows it —
wait what huh

curious to know about your changing attitude towards lm montgomery! i was always someone who focused on her writing over her, but i've definitely had authors I really connected with personally that are like uh oh when I took a deeper look into their life lol (idk if that's what you meant, but it reminded me of that given the kilmeny context)
This is a good and obvious question and I suspected I’d need to explain it as soon as I made that comment lol 😅
So. As everyone here probably knows, I grew up on Emily. I grew up Emily, in a way. I read those books at 11 and never really stopped reading them. I wanted to be Emily and Ilse, I wanted a friend group like theirs with Perry and Teddy, I wanted a mentor like Dean Priest (yes, like Dean), I wanted Emily’s confidence and hard working attitude toward her dream of being a successful writer, I wanted her young success. I thought everything in those books were true and beautiful. Of course, I loved Anne too—I read the Aogg series at around 9-10 and continued rereading my faves as I aged into them but they didn’t speak to me the same way. They didn’t speak through me. They didn’t make me who I am. And I had a strange sense of belonging with the Emily books that was incredibly intimate. They were mine. Someone I knew in college was curious about them because of course I couldn’t help talking about these formative books, but I refused to tell them the title lol. I felt like anyone would immediately know too much about me if they read the series too, and that felt like a violation.
But here I am. I’ve found an incredible community of other LMM fans. You all have read my metas and know my opinions, and I’ve seen some incredible analyses and headcanons that have broken my brain open in the best way about interpreting some stuff. I love it here. But that also means Montgomery isn’t mine in the same ways. The way those books impacted me as a kid won’t ever change, and neither really will the way that the words still twine themselves around my life (having a quote from the books to fall back on to express a hard day still makes the day marginally better). But it’s a bit like a coming out. Your relationship to an inimical thing automatically changes when you share it with other likeminded people, if only because now you have a community to make it greater.
And of course my feelings for Maud herself have changed. I see her racism much more clearly than before. I see how much of her own pain and trauma went into the stories that I wanted to pattern my life on. I see how problematic Dean is lol. And all this doesn’t make me like her any less. But she’s no longer the Holy Grail author she was to me for years and years.
I think part of this is me getting older, of course. I joked to @blackcatwalking when I turned 24 that I passed Emily’s debut age and would soon out-age her altogether. (@blackcatwalking’s extremely soothing reply was that this was why we have Valancy Stirling! To prove life doesn’t end at the end of our 20s!) But all jokes aside, and as much as I identify with Emily, I have made those books what they are to me because of myself, if that makes sense. The whole “there are a thousand Hamlets for a thousand readers” thing. Maud’s Emily isn’t my Emily, and my Emily and my own self and the stories I write and carry around because of her have to grow out of Maud’s shadow and take their own identity.

i wanna say willa but i did have this headcanon that willa hated hamilton because she came up with it first when she was in high school and she had it all written out and then lmm made it happen first so when con gets tickets to go watch it she goes but she's like so bothered by it and con is also bothered by it because of the historical inaccuracies so maybe she'd feel like glee bastardized musical theater
