this boy legit is a genius but cannot understand his emotions AT ALL. he may know why he feels a certain way from a textbook point of view, but he can’t really understand them all too well (maybe that’s just a me thing...) BUT one thing he did know… was that he loved you. he knew for sure that he platonically loved you, yes- but nah that man was falling head over heels before he could even realize. he noticed how he felt bored without you- even when he’s alone at his apartment which is literally his haven. he noticed how the smallest and most minuscule things made him think about you (he always found a way to tie anything back to you, duh.) also he writes about you SO much in his letters to his mom, bruh. it gets to the point where writing about anything else seemed like a chore. to him, the best part was being able to fawn over you in these letters. it felt so nice to let some feeling off of his chest. the longest part in the letters are totally about you and he writes in disgustingly prolific detail. diana literally feels like she knows everything about you- both your appearance (down to tiniest marks on your pretty skin that he described for her) and your personality that he loved oh so much (she loves you. like legit KNOWS YALL ARE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER. ik she definitely knew spencer was in luv before he himself knew. simply because mothers always know.) he felt safe and comfortable around you #securityblanket jeezzz BRO NEEDED YOU. but for some reason he felt guilty for falling in love with you?? extremely self doubtful, of course, he settles for not telling you cause like?? you’re only friends? he feels so bad for seeing you that way and he feels sad like omg they will never love me :((

You have been in this fandom for so long nike I have to give up to you for always being realistic in your answers and thoughts because gwynriels make me so tired. Probably the reason many people take a break from the fandom I am so tired of the them belittling elain especially when a lot of us are so similar to her. How they said elriel book would be boring and predictable but want acosf 2 . We have never have a forbidden love story a love without banter something more realistic when it comes to elain and az they are not confrontational characters , how is that boring? Is it really because they think 3 brother 3 sisters is predictable or just because they don’t want their favorite bat boy with the archeron sister they hate?
I think what I've learned through the years here, is that there is a consistent pattern in how different sides approach Elain and shipwars.
2 sides are mostly concerned with the ships
1 side is mostly concerned with Elain
With ships, there is a LOT of emotionalism involved. A lot.
On the other hand, when it comes to Elain, there is CANON. And again, what I've consistently seen is that Elriels/Elain stans use canon in our theories and posts. Whilst others use emotions. Why? Because there just isn't enough canon, for example, to justify Gwynriel. You can jump and yell and scream and doxx, but you still don't have enough dough to bake the Gwynriel loaf. Therefore, it all descents into hate, name calling, pliant bones, and whatnot.
If you are rational about it, if you take emotions out of your interpretation, then it's hard to argue with Elain and Elriel.
For example, in regards to the next book: however you feel about Elain, she is clearly and directly involved in multiple storylines--she is Made, she is a Seer, she discovered Koschei, she discovered Vassa, she is the only one with full Cauldron powers, the Cauldron 'loves' her and 'purred' in her presence, she was able to stab the king in the throat, she stepped out in the shadow, for whatever reason, Azriel chose to hand HER Truth Teller, and for whatever reason she was able to wield it, and so on ....
I do not need to make anything up for her story that's not in canon. When it comes to Gwyn, you literally have to twist yourself into a pretzel to make her relevant. She'll be part of the Illyrian plot!!! What Illyrian plot? Where is the set up for this mysterious 'Illyrian plot'? how's she connected? what does she have to do with Illyria? Oh she has to be with Azriel? Oh HE has to get a book so SHE could be part of it? Oh so Elain has to end up with Lucien for all of this to happen?
See, all of it is not based on canon, but emotion, because you WANT Gwyn to matter and have a story.
When it comes to Elain, she is completely independent of any ship--the stories (and SJM can go any way with her, and I haven't even mentioned all of them) are all woven into her character already. It ultimately doesn't even matter who she ends up with, because her story isn't dependent on any man. THEY are dependent on her for their story.
So you can spend 3 years hating on Elain, but that won't change anything. She will still get her massive book, she will still be the FMC, she will get her man, she will get her journey, she will make a difference. That's it. That's canon. She is the juicy steak. Everything else is just a side dish of jello and boiled green beans.
I know the other sides spent a lot of energy and time hating Elain, hating Azriel, hating Azriel and Elain, getting into fights between each other, because one side hates Elain and the other hates Azriel, but they need each other for their ships to happen....
But we got canon. Which is a sweet sweet fruit. So I'll stick with my bread and roses, and they can have...the Illyrian redemption plot or whatever.
Pretty darn sure Elain the flower girl will get her book and her shadowsinger. Cuz that's what she wants.

Kinda of random but what do you think of Alan's Moore comments about people liking comic book movies could lead into fascism? Seems like bitter old man territory but what do you think?
Long reply. These are just my personal thoughts/opinions ~
Tbh I don't read Alan Moore but I know of them, I know of their works, and I know that alot of the wrong people take their work and basically "Fight Club" it.
If you know the movie Fight Club then you understand how a piece of media is often taken into the wrong context. What was supposed to be a satire/examination of anti capitalism was usurped by men thinking they need to be in peak form/fight for what they want, reprogram themselves etc. Basically they thought all the wrong ideas.
Moore's Watchmen gives way to such things like The Boys, where violence in superhero media is the focus rather than the message behind Watchmen. So everyone focuses on the violence, the spectacle, etc.
Many people treat comic books like it's a thing for kids, or people who can't read books, or whatever.
Yet comics have been a form of literature for a long time. Comics have a finger on the beating pulse of pop culture, world events, and shifting tone of the public thoughts.
For example: Something Happens. In the world, real-life, a big event occurs that effects many people. Someday you will see that someone has written a very good book about the subject, but by then maybe years have passed, meanwhile a comic captures things in the moment as time moves on, you can see the trends in the form political cartoons, or someone who was effected creating a comic witin days/weeks, or generations of people who grew up effected and began pouring their message, their hearts into comics. Some stories that are not easily told through novels.
Superhero Comics began as a message from Jewish creators, a hope, a story.
So while I know people will be quick to dismiss Moore as a bitter old person, I would really recommend people stop a moment and look at what they are saying.
See I think it's less "Liking Superhero Movies will lead to fascism" and more "consuming media controlled by massive corporations uncritically will have an effect on people".
Look at the way Superheros Movies have a chokehold on pop culture, look at the way there are literal nations of fans supporting Superhero Movies. Look at the way they defend Superhero Movies even at its worst, at its racist, at its mysoginstic, at stuff that literally makes my skin crawl. Look at the way these super fans doxx marginalized actors/ess, at the way they harrass, they swarm into comments to spew their hatred. Look at the way they say "it's just a Superhero movie, it's just a cape comic, it's nothing serious".
Then I need you to look at the way Marvel tried to market a choice to people: "S.h.i.e.l.d or Hydra, which side are you on?"
Hydra isn't just a bad guy team. It's Nazis. It's always been Nazis. It's literally headed up by the biggest fictional Nazi to ever have been created. So not only this question but, to make contests, merchandise, so much for this event. It really makes you sit back and ask: How did we get to this? How did this industry get from superhero characters created by Jewish people, to a comic company asking if you would join Nazis.
Fascism doesn't just happen. It's created over time, over years, and I agree and disagree with Moore. In my opinon not every Superhero Movie is propaganda for the American Military but many are, not every movie is racist/has propaganda, but there are those that are, not every Superhero Movie will lead a person to Facism, but some will plant the seed. We can't control how people internalize things or what deep web rabbit holes they follow, or what Nazi/Racist/Facist groups they join.
Movies are power, movies can reach a lot of people, not everyone will be able to read the same books, or comics, but many people will be able to watch the same movie. I just think people should be critical to Superhero movies when there is something to discuss. I don't mean complaining about the cgi, but talking about the actual plot, who is making the movie, who did they cast in what role, etc. Blindly following whatever big companies decide to put in their movies isn't a good idea.
I may not be a Moore fan but I do think he's earned a right to be bitter after how the Comic Industry has chewed him up and spit him out. Many creators are ground down by how the Comic Industry runs, and the Superhero Movie Industry has become a behemoth, to ignore an industry that shapes the mind of kids and has a hold on adults is pretty dumb. Again, I don't think it's a pipeline of Superhero Movies > Facism, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't look critically at movies just because they are about people flying around in tights.

not to doxx myself but cops killed a black guy in the venue not twenty fucking minutes after I left for the night. our sales guy was literally right there, about halfway up a scissor lift that was less than twenty feet from where they shot him. how am I supposed to, I dunno, just keep doing what I'm doing? we've had to put 10x10 black carpet over the spot where he probably nearly bled out before later being pronounced dead in hospital. he had a gun in his waistband apparently, but he was apparently running scared behind our stage with his hands up when they shot him twice in the leg from range (sure ok a little excessive but fine I can see an argument maybe in the hypothetical world where I don't hate cops) and then came up and put one in his shoulder from less than ten feet. like what the fuck man. maybe I'll delete this in the morning cus that's an eyewitness account that could be pertinent to the SIU investigation (altho it's not mine and idk how that works or anything) or whatever but this is tumblr anyway so kinda who gives a shit.

ALSO childhood evidence is always going to be skewed in the parent's favor bc the kid straight up isnt old enough to rly be able to advocate for themselves. notice how the videos switch to photos as she gets older meaning we have no idea how they interacted when they talked and the one text message she shows is them interacting rly awkwardly like two distant acquaintances

baeddel is an Old English word. i have no idea where it actually occurs in the Old English written corpus, but it occurs in a few placenames. its diminuitive form, baedling, is much better documented. it appears in the (untranslated) Canons of Theodore, a penitential handbook, a sort of guidebook for priests offering advice on what penances should be recommended for which sins. in a passage devoted to sexual transgressions it gives the penances suggested for a man who sleeps with a woman, a man who sleeps with another man, and then a man who sleeps with a baedling. so you have this construction of a baedling as something other than a man or a woman. and then it gives the penance for a baedling who sleeps with another baedling (a ludicrous one-year fast). then, by way of an explaination, Theodore delivers us one of the most enigmatic phrases in the Old English corpus: "for she is soft, like an adulturess."
the -ling suffix in baedling is masculine. but Theodore uses feminine pronouns and suffixes to describe baedlings. as we said, it's also used separately from male and female. but it's also used separately from their words for intersex and it never appears in this context. all of this means that you have this word that denotes a subject who is, as Christopher Monk put it, "of problematic gender." interested historians have typically interpreted it as referring to some category of homosexual male, such as Wayne R. Dines in his two-volume Encyclopedia of Homosexuality who discusses it in the context of an Old English glossary which works a bit like an Old English-Latin dictionary, giving Old English words and their Latin counterparts. the Latin words the Anglo-Saxon lexicographer chose to correspond with baedling were effeminatus and mollis, and Lang concludes that it refers to an "effeminate homosexual" (pg 60, Anglo Saxon). this same glossary gives as an Old English synonym the word waepenwifstere which literally means "woman with a penis," and which Dines gives the approximate translation (hold on tight) male wife.
R. D. Fulk, a philologist and medievalist, made a separate analysis of the term in his study on the Canons of Theodore 'Male Homoeroticism in the Old English Canons of Theodore', collected in Sex and Sexuality in Medieval England, 2004. he analysed it as a 'sexual category' (sexual as in sexuality), owing to the context of sexual transgressions in the Canons. he decides that it refers to a man who bottoms in sexual relationships with another man. i don't have the article on hand so i'm not sure what his reasoning was, but this seems obviously inadequate given what we know from the glossary described by Dines. Latin has a word for bottom, pathica, and the lexicographer did not use this in their translation, preferring words that emphasized the baedling's femininity like effeminatus, and doesn't address the sexual context at all. Dines, however, only reading this glossary, seems to decide that it refers to a type of male homosexual too hastily, considering the Canons explicitly treat them separately. both Dines and Fulk immediately reduce the baedling to a subcategory of homosexual when neither of the sources to hand actually do so themselves.
by now it should be obvious why, seven or so years ago, we interpreted it as an equivalent to trans woman. I mean come on - a woman with a penis! these days I tend to add a bit of a caution to this understanding, which is that trans woman is the translation of baedling which seems most adequate to us, just as baedling was the translation of effeminatus that seemed most adequate to our lexicographer. but the term cannot translate perfectly; its sense was derived from some minimal context; a legal context, a doctrinal context, and so forth... the way Anglo-Saxons understood sex/gender is complicated but it has been argued that they had a 'one sex model' and didn't regard men and women as biologically separate types, which is obviously quite different from the sexual model accepted today; in any case they didn't have access to the karyotype and so on. the basic categories they used to understand gender and sexuality were different from ours. in particular, Hirschfield et al. should be understood as a particularly revolutionary moment in the genealogy of transsexuality; the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft essentially invented the concept of the 'sex change', the 'transition', conceived as a biological passage from one sex to the other. even in other contexts where (forgive me) #girlslikeus changed their bodies in some way, like the castration of the priestesses of Cybele, or those belonging to the various historical societies which we believe used premarin for feminization [disputed; see this post], there is no record that they were ever considered men at any stage or had some kind of male biology that preceded their 'gender identity.' the concept of the trans woman requires the minimal context of the coercive assignment at birth and its subsequent (civil and bio-technological) rejection. i have never encountered evidence that this has ever been true in any previous society. nonetheless, these societies still had gendered relations, and essentially wherever we find these gendered relations we also find some subject which is omitted or for whom it has been necessary to note exceptions. what is of chief interest to us is not so much that there was such a subject here or there in history (and whatever propagandistic uses this fact might have), but understanding why these regularities exist.
a very parsimonious explanation is that gender is a biological reality, and there is some particular biological subject which a whole host of words have been conjured to denote. if this were the case then we would expect that, no matter what gender/sexual system we encounter in a given society, it will inevitably find some linguistic expression. if, like me, you find this idea revolting, then you should busy yourself trying to come up with an alternative explanation which is not just plausible, but more plausible. my best guesses are outside the scope of this answer...
anyway, all of this must be very interesting to the five or six people invested in the confluence of philology and gender studies. but why on earth did it become so widely used, in so many strange and unusual contexts, in the 2010s? we're very sorry, but yes, it's our fault. you see apart from all of this, there is also a little piece of information which goes along with the word baeddel, which is that it's the root of the Modern English word bad. by way of, no less, the word baedan, 'to defile'. how this defiled historical subject came to bear responsibility for everything bad to English-speakers doesn't seem to be known from linguistic evidence. however, it makes for a very pithy little remark on transmisogyny. my dear friend [REDACTED] made a playful little post making this point and, good Lord, had we only known...
it went like this. its such a funny little idea that we all start changing our urls to include the word baeddel. in those days it was common to make puns with your url (we always did halloween and christmas ones); i was baeddelaire, a play on the French poet Baudelaire. while we all still had these urls a series of events which everyone would like to forget happened, and we became Enemies of Everyone in the Whole World. because of the url thing people started to call us "the baeddels." then there was "a cult" called "the baeddels" and so forth. this cult had various infamies attatched to it and a constellation of indefensible political positions. ultimately we faced a metric fucking shit ton of harassment, including, for some of my friends, really serious and bad irl harassment that had long-term bad awful consequences relating to stable housing and physical safety and i basically never want to talk about that part of my life ever again. and i never have to, because i've come to realize that for most people, when they use the word baeddel, they don't know about that stuff. it doesn't mean that anymore.
so what does it mean? you'll see it in a few contexts. TERFs do use it, as you guessed. i am not quite sure what they really mean by it and how it differs from other TERF barbs. i think being a baeddel invovles being politically active or at least having a political consciousness, but in a way thats distinct from just any 'TRA' or trans activist. so perhaps 'militant' trans women, but perhaps also just any trans woman with any opinions at all. how this was transmitted from tumblr/west coast tranny drama to TERF vocabulary i have no idea. but you will also find - or, could have found a few years ago - i would say 'copycat' groups who didn't know us or what we believed but heard the rumours, and established their own (generously) organizations (usually facebook groups) dedicated to putting those principles into practice. they considered themselves trans lesbian separatists and did things like doxx and harass trans women who dated cafabs. if you don't know about this, yes, there really were such groups. they mostly collapsed and disappeared because they were evildoers who based their ideology on a caricature. i knew a black trans woman who was treated very badly by one of these groups, for predictable reasons. so long-time readers: if you see people talking about their bad experiences with 'baeddels', you can't necessarily relate it to the 2014 context and assume they're carrying around old baggage. there are other dreams in the nightmare.
the most common way you'll see it today, in my experience, is in this form: people will say that it was a "slur" for trans women. they might bring up that it's the root of the word bad, and they might even think that you shouldn't use the word bad because of it, or that you shouldn't use the word baeddel because it's a slur. all of this is a silly game of internet telephone and not worth addressing. except to say that it's by no means clear that baeddel, or baedling, were slurs, or even insulting at all. while Theodore doesn't provide us with a description of how we can have sex with a baedling without sinning, and it may be the case that any sexual relations with a baedling was considered sinful, sexuality-based transgressions were not taken all that seriously in those days. there was a period where homosexuality within the Church was almost sanctioned, and it wasn't until much later that homosexuality became so harshly proscribed, to the extent that it was thought to represent a threat to society, etc. and as i mentioned, there are places in England named after baedlings. there is a little parish near Kent which is called Badlesmere, Baeddel's Lake, which was recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Domesday Book (as having a lord, a handful of villagers and a few slaves; perhaps only one or two households). it's not unheard of, but i just don't know very many places called Faggot Town or some such. it's possible that baedlings had some role in Anglo-Saxon society which we are not aware of; it could even have been a prestigious one, as it was in other societies. there is just no evidence other than a couple of passing references in the literature and we'll probably never have a complete picture.

Because while I don't declare who people can casually hang out with, I don't allow people trying to cause real world harm to just sit in my house. They literally feel entitled to treat fandom like a warzone, invade safe spaces, take shits on the floor however they want, and clutch their pearls if anyone puts up a boundary. Or like... defends themselves from doxxing or physical threats.
OH, or he could be talking about the people that tried to hijack admin permissions to delete my server just because they were told to stop chasing people across four channels to harass them, and this clearly was me being hitler and demanded a coup.

Both sides of the fans have been quite nasty to each other tbh. I wish everyone could say stuff without patronizing or bullying anyone.
I agree with that. And also - despite what it may look like - I don't want to bully people. If they're giving me shit, I'll defend myself, but I never have wanted to bully people over the Graham stuff, like calling people names. I'll admit I've snapped a couple of times because of bad evidence, gathered in good faith by young fans, being believed (by adults) over testimonies and experience. And by bad, I mean, it doesn't pass a critical analysis and it wouldn't in a court of law. I get angry when people don't listen to women and give them a chance to speak and call them crazy bitches. No one on this side is saying you have to believe their story, we're just saying, allow them to speak, like you would a cis man. But the fandom shuts them down, doxxes and harasses them.
Also, using Dave's Michelle as a source of truth is problematic. She's close to the band, yes, but everyone in the band has probably been told what Graham wants them to hear, no? And if they do know, it's not in Blur's best interest to have that come to light.
I am very frustrated, I hold my tongue a lot. Sometimes it's too much and I have to say something, or I snap.
When I was trying to talk to that discord, I tried giving them information. All that ended up happening was them dismissing my points and then saying it couldn't be true because I wouldn't detail my friend's trauma. Literally someone did a google search and told me that my lived experience was wrong, that all of my friends are liars. A Google search. And then that whole take on everything spread like wildfire through the fandom, because Graham being innocent is what people want to hear, so they don't want to question the rationality.
So yeah, do I wish we were better? I do. But it's not going to happen until Graham supporters are willing to listen. And most likely, they're not because Mirja has been full time seeding people her narratives on what "really happened," to make them feel Gra is innocent. Because that's what Gra wants. He needs his army of defenders. But everyone forgets that Mirja's reputation is a liar. She has been a pariah for years because of her lying. But because it's all new fans she's talking to, on her alt accounts with different names, people don't know that. To them she is "the source." Well, I hate to break it to them but I, and a few others, were here long before Mirja.

Well I've had alot of people ask what the hell went down, so I guess I'll answer it here!
A 'callout' post was posted on twitter, where they talked about all the weird content that is present in yhs,TS and KoV. The post itself I believe claims that it's not trying to cancel Sam the content creator, but meant to spread awareness, and dare they ask, have content warnings for their videos? Preposterous.
Anyway, it got people talking, good, people were getting educated and properly warned about the content. But that also gained the attention of Sam. One would usually apologize or clarify, or simply brush it off, but that would be too easy lol. I mean, holy shit Sam, dude if you're reading, you could have easily said 'oh that was 5 years ago, and I'm not like that anymore' and boom, it would have been done, I mean there was proof but still, most would have agreed. People can change. It's normal. I myself probably wouldn't have agreed with being called out if it was something that was done years ago, I think it's a shitty thing to do. But, instead of that, he DEFENDED himself, even said "I will continue making the same jokes where I see fit" WHICH IS??? HUH. He basically dug his own grave when he said that, where do you possibly see fit to make rape and suicide jokes???? In a Minecraft roleplay?? The fuck?

It was 2 am so I was asleep at the time, but my friend rightfully handled the situation to have a proper discussion. You can see the highlights of it in Mika's post about it, where she simply asked that a content warning would be appropriate, seeing as kids watch his videos (which he denied, which is stupid cuz do you think 18 year olds were the target audience of yhs when it came out??? You don't have control over who watches your videos, but it's Minecraft roleplay, what do you expect lmao) the mod ended up kicking them out (we have bragging rights now for kicking Sam from our server lol).
But, the thing that strikes me odd is the fact that he looked through our chat. Looked through conversations of 14-17 year olds. He's almost 30. Yeah that sounds about right. He was trying to dig dirt on us. Found a "kill me" comment, and thought that yes, we too are as bad as him, because simply saying kill me is equivalent to showing a hanged block man on a video to millions of kids. Nice! Guess we're all cancelled!
Im sure some friends of Sam linger in the server. I've heard he's trying to doxx Mika, a minor, for documenting a conversation that was public in the server. Which is also incriminating.
No one is asking for him to be a saint, or even agree on what should and shouldn't be joked about. Humor is subjective after all, if he really wants, he can keep making those shitty jokes, it would be cool if he didn't! Yet again, young people watch those videos and it's kinda fucked up. But I won't be policing what you can and can't do, I don't have a life but come on I got better things to do lol. The thing everyone is asking for, is proper content warning, literally just add warnings in the description or title. You might find the jokes funny but you can't deny it's a sensitive issue. He warns people for swearing but not for dark humor? It's a bit silly.
Anyway yeah that's some of main stuff that's been going on. Were tired.
